my daughter is nearly 2.last thur/fri she was running a temp,friday she was really run down but then came good on the weekend.she went off her food(not that she is a big eater anyways) on thur.on sun i noticed she had a few ulcers in her mouth so i guess thats the reason for not eating.all she wants is crushed ice,ice cream,boob and arrowroot biscuits with milk.it is now tue.i rub sm33 on her gums.she is also teething.some of the ulcers are on the gums where her teeth are.they doctor and pharmacist didnt say much just that it coould be viral.she doesnt go to daycare but has playmates that do.what else could cause them?nobody else in the house has them or cold sores.also i noticed my nipple was sore on sat and because my daughter tends to bite when she's nursing,i thought she just broke the skin but yesterday i looked at it and it looked like an ulcer.is it contagious? more

Open Question: I keep coughing like i do when i have a cold but i have no other symptoms?

I have mucus in my chest and i cant stop coughing. I have taken mucinexDM allergy medications, and cough drops. nothing is helping. i did quit smoking about three weeks ago and i have not smoked since but this cough started about a week ago and shows no sign of getting better. I also have asthma but i am on medication for it and i take a inhaler when i have problems (yes i know i should have never started smoking when i had asthma) is this normal after you stop smoking or does it like somthing viral or a infection? My room mate decided that it would be funny to invite a huge group of friends and video tape me getting my nuts damaged. What they did was that they built some kind of mechanism that snaps up to hit the victim in between his legs when he opened the door. Open Question: If this happened to your child at daycare what would you do?

I walked into my baby's classroom to pick him up and found him laying on the floor with his bottle laying on the floor next to him. One of the caregivers had her child (who is not a baby and is supposed to be in the toddler room) on her lap. The other caregiver was feeding a baby her bottle. The caregiver who was busy feeding the baby said that my son can hold his bottle but it fell on the floor. My son cannot hold his own bottle. He doesn't have the fine motor skills to hold a bottle in his mouth and drink it. Even if he could hold his own bottle, I would prefer for him to not be on the floor with it. He can't sit up without support, and he can't crawl or roll from back-to-belly (he only rolls over from belly to back). I want to take him out of this daycare. Am I over reacting? Also the school has a sugar ant problem and I guess there are ants in the carpet because he came home with ant bites. Later that evening he developed signs of pink eye and now I am missing work anyways due to him having viral pink eye. I understand that pink eye is very common but I know for a fact they allow kids with pink eye to come to school and if they notice a child has pink eye they do not send them home. There were even children with swine flu allowed to come to school and they failed to send home a notice until multiple children contracted swine flu. Just to give you an example of what type of person my director is, she said she didn't have to send the child with swine flu home because the disease is NOT communicable. I asked her how people got it if it wasn't communicable and she pitched an attitude. p.s. I work for this daycare so I want to quit. my daughter is 2 and she has been sick once a month since she was 4 months old. at 4 months old, she ran a fever over 104, took her to the hosp, they found no reason for the fever, they did a spinal tap to see if it was meningitis, came back negative. so they came to the conclusion that it must be from her teething. every month from then on, she has gotten sick with a high fever. she will feel warm all day on the first day with a 99-100 degree temp, the second day her eyes are pink around the edges, puffy and she just looks sick and miserable with a 100-101 fever. then by the middle of the night she is up with a 103-104 temp. i take her to the dr every month for this and they have done blood tests, throat cultures, urine samples, and found nothing! they always say its a viral infection because the tests come back negative. shes been to different doctors and shes been to different hospitals. im just sick of her going thru this every month. i just need to know if there is anyone else out there that has had this happen to their baby? have u found out what the reason for this is? please no stupid answers from rude ppl! all im asking is if anyone has gone thru this with their child and what they have found out.thanks for ur helpful answers...she has never been tested for allergies, but that is something i am definately going to ask her dr about. more

Around the beginning of July I hooked up with a girl at a party. For the most part, we engaged in a handjob, but for around ten seconds there was unprotected, vaginal penetration. I was very sick about a year ago. For some reason while I was sick, I started shaking really hard. I couldnt stop my muscles from spasming. I went to the ER a few times. The third time I was in the ER they gave me an IV. I'm wondeing if anybody would know they name of the medicine they gave me.... the nurse said it was in the same category as Valium. It started with an A. It was like Airvil or something. Maybe it was Ativan? It calmed down my nerves but made me feel very high and then it made me vomit. When I got out of the hospital, I saw a doctor. He said the results of some of the bloodwork I had down in the hospital showed that my liver function was being impaired by my illness. He said it looked viral. Would this mean it was hepatitis? And also, why would a liver problem have caused my shaking more

Over the last few weeks there has been a nasty rotten smell developed in my house it smells like gone off honey or a viral smell i've tried locating it and clearing out all out off date food and so on but the smell still exisists this is really puzzelling me and is starting to become unbearable. Resolved Question: is my pink eye on its way to bye bye?

So, I noticed that Tuesday morning my right eye was a little itchy. I didn't think nothing of it being I am a contact lens wearer and just shrugged it off and re cleaned and inserted my contact. It got a little red and swollen so i took my contact out. The next morning I woke up and found it to definitely be pink eye. After reading on the web I've concluded it is probably viral conjunctivitis because it doesn't have ooze, and is more of a watery discharge and mild swelling. I went the whole day cleaning constantly and placing hot and cold compresses on it. My mom then went out and bought me pink eye drops which I also have been placing in repeatedly. Now my eye is almost back to normal, but is still a little red and still slightly swollen. I called off work yesterday for it, and really don't wish to have to call off again. One night i woke up with hives all over my torso and arms..it was very itchy so i took benadryl and it disappeared.. 2 days ago, i've noticed a pea sized lump in my left armpit and is painful when i touch it..there's a little fluid that oozes out when i squeeze it..but then the hives in my body keeps coming back and disappears within 1-2 hours..now i've noticed another lump in my right armpit about the same size and same condition with the other one on my left and the one on my left isnt as painful as it was..what could this be? could it be viral infection? no signs of fever,weight loss, nausea..hiv possibly? 2 girls gave me unprotected oral sex about a month ago... more

though i had low fever since 15 days, initial report after a week , widal and malaria testwas negative. i was treated for viral. no change in fever .temp went up to 102 F. 2 nd report of widal test showed salm typh O was +++++ and H was ++.i had taken forr injection of acczon 1gm and now taking cefiO 200 mg. please suggest any further precaution to be taken and how to recover quickly. more

Could rinsing with peroxide repeatedly cause tonsillitis? I have been using peroxide to whiten my teeth and as mouthwash for about 2 weeks maybe a little longer. I than got tonsillitis from bacterial infection, not viral. My mom thinks the peroxide killed all the bacteria in my mouth along with the good bacteria and that's why I got tonsillitis. I've never gotten it before then. Is that possible do you think? Thanks! more

problem he has: 1. On June 25, 2010, i went to doctor as he was having stomach ache, nausea.... Doctor prescribed ultrasound of abdomen, it came back as normal., junior lanzol 15 mg 2. On July 12, 2010, i went to doctor as he was having viral fever, the doctor prescribed ibugesic plus 3. On July 18, 2010, he had stye, i went to eye doctor he told all is well then he gave some eye drops 4. On July 25, 2010, he had cough, i went to doctor again he gave brozeet 5. Then after cough stopped he had cold, i gave him clamist 6. Again from today he has both cold and cough... I am a housewife...i really cannot afford more...i am really worried as doctors here if we just go for one visit charge 200 to 300, i dont mind spending money as health is wealth, but i am not seeing any improvement in my child. One more thing is I thought homeopathy is good, i went to that doctor but he gives medicines and they cost around 400 to 600 Rs. and no use of that medicine I thinks doctors are experimenting without our life...When they cannot prescribe a proper medicine, what is the use of them being a doctor...all have become money minded...they do not even see if any one is affordable or not...they do not judge what the problem is....they give a list of bloodwork to be done...and that too from top to bottom....i am really depressed...even i am suffering from viral flu from monday and only from wednesday my temp has come down to 99.4, it is not decreasing any further, but i got all blood test done, all came as negative, i am on two types of antibiotics oflox 400 mg and azee 500 mg, i have lot of bodyache...can any doctor give me a perfect reason... can anyone tell me what is the type of fever i am suffering, i have a ESR of 35 what does that mean, i know i have infection, but what type, why doctors are not giving any medicine for removal of phelgm and mucous... Resolved Question: Could My Sore Glands with no other symptoms of cold or rash be signs of HIV?

Friday afternoon I noticed that my left gland was sore after leaving a local thrift store. I instantly thought that I must have caught a viral infection by someone in the store, however 5 days later I have yet to have any other symptoms of a cold or sinus infection. I've had some fatigue, though the cause for that could be my bodies reaction to a long and heavy menstrual cycle that has just ended, and sleepless nights due to stress. My question is should I worry that these symptoms could be the early stages of HIV? These symptoms have manifested to something much bigger after a friend of mine told that my symptoms could be the early stages of HIV. Friday I will be tested along with the normal blood work drawn for a physical. I just wanted a little feedback from you all. What could cause these symptoms? I have been under a tremendous amount of stress along with depression, some tooth and gum pain but nothing serious enough to cause sore glands.. more

PLEASE READ DETAILS! I'm 18 years old and ever since I was 15 my immune system seems to be failing me. The first warning was when I was 15, my lymph nodes in my armpits and groin swelled and developed hard, painful lumps for no apparent reason. The only other symptom was slight incontinence (leaking). After about a week they went away. That year I dropped a lot of weight for an undiagnosed reason. I was around 44kg at 166cm. I had no energy, couldn't climb a flight of stairs, was getting nausea in the mornings and unable to hold down food before 10am. My blood count and blood sugar levels came back fine. I have also always been prone to sinus infections, but since then I have had at least one severe one every year. When I was 16 I developed mycoplasma pneumonia, which I did not completely throw off for over a year. I went through 5 courses of antibiotics and an inhaler for bronchial spasms. Over this time I developed mild depression. When I was 17 and in my final grade of school I got swine flu but reacted so badly to Tamiflu I was ordered to stop taking it. This year I have been diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety and was put on Zoloft, which even at a half-dose gave me severe migraines, dizziness, sleep disturbances and nausea. I was changed to Lexapro, which seems to be working. Earlier this year I caught a bad viral infection, and at the same time school sores! This year I have had 5 blood tests to diagnose my multiple symptoms of extreme tiredness and digestive issues. It was found that I am B12 deficient and iron deficient. As I have a healthy diet, I was tested for pernicious anemia which came back probable. I had an endoscopy a week ago, and not all results are back yet (waiting on things such as coeliac) but I have two areas inflamed and was told I have gastritis caused by H.polori bacteria. I was prescribed Nexium Hp7, but reacted badly from the first dose, with abdominal cramps, chest pain and vomiting. It was decided that I was reacting from one of the three pills involved in Nexium Hp7, which is rare to have. I'd had Amoxil before (antibiotic), and Nexium is harmless so it was thought I reacted badly to the other antibiotic, Klacid. I am seeing my doctor Monday to organise an alternative treatment plan, and to start a series of B12 injections. I am also on iron for three months. It should also be noted that I was 15 when I first got hayfever. It is now so bad I wake up with it every morning and as I have gained a tolerance to 2 antihistamines, I am on a steroid nasal spray to control it. My question - Is there an underlying cause? Is my immune system down because of my depression? What questions should I be asking my doctor? Please help!! more

Last week, she had diarrhea for 2 days. They took her to the clinic twice and said she had some kind of viral infection. A day later, she was listless and they took her to the emergency room. She was going cross-eyed, which is a sign of kidney failure...she tested positive for e.coli. They rushed her to a University Hospital in an ambulance(they were going to use a helicopter, but the weather wasn't good) She has been on kidney dialysis for 3 days. She just started eating and drinking last night, and they took her off the machine, but she hasn't urinated. That's not a good sign so I'm told. Can anyone tell me the chances of what will happen to her? We are devastated. She has an appetite, and is alert, but she doesn't want to be touched.(maybe because of the trauma she's going through) more

Resolved Question: My 17 months old has viral a diarrhea. He doesn't want to eat starchy food?

My 17 months old has a viral diarrhea for already 7 days. Nurse said that it can last for 14 days. My son doesn't want to eat starchy food. I was told by nurse to feed my son with rice, outmeal, potatoes,sweet potatoes, crackers, rice cake but he doesn't eat this food at all! He never eat them. He might eat 1/4 of a cracker of 20 rice puffs (serving size is 75 puffs) and that's it. He doesn't like cheerios or bread or toasts. Nurse said that he will eat when he is hungry but he does not eat starchy food and never eat them. I tried not to feed him anything for 12 hours and he still does not eat starchy food. I don't think it is the right time to starve my son when he is sick. He doesn't want to eat much. He eats just a little bit of chicken or salmon, grapes, corn on a cob and just little bit of yogurt may sometimes. I tried Earth's best rice and oatmeal. I tried baking regular plain rice and rice with raisins. I tried to bake potatoes and sweet potatoes in different ways. I tried to buy oatmeal, semolina and different cereal mixes in jars (baby food) but my son does not eat them. He is still breastfed. IS THERE OTHER TYPE OF STARCHY FOOD THAT I CAN OFFER TO MY SON?
