Why is a viral infection more likely to destroy a complete batch of plants grown by plant tissue culture than a batch of plants grown from seeds? I no its too do with them all being genetically identical but is that all it is? I have a website idea that is very much in the seed stage. The site will put a number on how funny people are by having members both judge and submit captions to a daily cartoon. A Computer Science Major would have a great time perfecting the calculated number that I call humorq, integrating social media sites, and displaying the world's humor data with their innovative use of technology. I need someone with PHP / MySQL skills for this part. My marketing graduate student needs to make this idea viral, go ahead (laugh), I'm convinced in the hands of the right marketing person more than a million people will want to know how funny they are compared to everyone else that thinks they're funny. Once that many people know their humorq, a humorq score becomes a standard on dating web sites and resumes. I just need the graduate student that can pull that off. My psychology major gets to study the data behind the scores... the member demographics, the science behind what makes one caption funny and the other not, even the science behind what makes a member with a low humorq continue to participate and attempt to raise their score. Please check out the website and it's early workings at http://www.humorq.com . Obviously I'm seeking graduate students (or anyone else really just trying to build a resume) due to lack of startup funds. I can help you, while you help me. The website earns no revenue today, but I will entertain eventual profit sharing proposals. moreResolved Question: Are our vaccines contaminated by Pig virus?
Independent Lab Using New Technology Found vaccine contamination by Pig Virus DNA in Rotarix. After the team double checked their findings, researchers notified GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) on February 9, 2010 and GSK notified the FDA on March 15, 2010, which prompted the FDA's action on March 22, 2010 to suspend use of Rotarix. The FDA says it "does not know how DNA from PCV1 came to be present in Rotarix" or whether "this means that intact virus is present. Additional studies are being conducted." In searching for ways to make seasonal influenza vaccines in a faster, easier and less expensive way than relying on chicken eggs for production, drug companies have experimented with using dog kidney cells and human fetal retinal cells. However, these cell lines have been documented to cause tumors in animals, especially dog kidney cells (MDCK). Rotarix is a genetically engineered vaccine that GSK created by isolating human rota-virus strain infecting a child in Cincinnati and using African Green monkey kidney cells to produce the original viral seed stock from which all Rotarix vaccine has been made. 7 In the FDA licensing process, Rotarix had to meet certain FDA standards, that included demonstrating the vaccine was not contaminated with, for example TSE (Transmittable Spongiform Encephalopathy or "mad cow" disease, a brain wasting disease) or with cow viruses because bovine (cow) serum was used to prepare the original viral seed stock. Porcine trypsin, an enzyme in the pancreatic juice of a pig, was also used to make the viral seed stock. RotaTeq is a genetically engineered vaccine containing five human-cow re-assortment strains of rota-virus that were created at the Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania (CHOP), where strains of rota-virus that give cows diarrhea were combined with strains of rota-virus that cause diarrhea in humans. The re-assortment viruses were transported to Merck, where master seeds were produced using African Green Monkey kidney cell cultures. Fetal bovine (cow) serum and porcine trypsin was used to make the "seed" stock. There are small amounts of bovine serum and cell culture media (monkey viral DNA) that remain in RotaTeq vaccine. At a November 19, 2009 meeting of the FDA Vaccines & Related Biological Products Advisory Committee, a vaccine manufacturer asked for permission to use insect (caterpillar) cells to make pandemic influenza shots. But insect cells can be contaminated with insect viruses that are hard to detect. The FDA Committee, on that day, voted “no.” http://www.nvic.org/NVIC-Vaccine-News/April-2010/Vaccine-Contamination-Pig-Virus-DNA-Found-in-Rota.aspxAnd what else is in those vaccines we don't know yet about? Please, concentrate on answering the question instead of childish rant you smart Alec. moreResolved Question: What any of you buy a hamburger bed A fair price would probably be close to $2000?
The Origin Story You know that ol' dinner party question: If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? My answer is always—hamburgers. mm mm mmm I wouldn't say that I'm obsessed... though I did celebrate hamburger roadtrip '03 (I ate hamburgers in 8 central US states) and have a buffet club code name of Patty Melt... I have a general devotion to food and movies... especially sweets. For awhile now I have been making sweet treats and then I saw an amazing video Hamburger: The Motion Picture (must own soon!) and their dorm room beds WERE hamburgers. I had to make the transition into making treats things! and I couldn't shake the idea of a Hamburger Bed! I bought a round mattress from the 70's and made everything else myself... (with the exception of pickle chip pillows I received from a wonderful friend). It is 8' in diameter (I love saying my bed has a diameter) It stands about 3' tall. It is the most comfortable bed I have ever owned... ever Frequently Asked Questions Who made the hamburger bed? Kayla Kromer of Austin, Texas. Is the bed for sale? If so how much does it cost? If not, are there any plans and how much do you think it would cost? It's not something people really want... they say they do. If someone did, they would find me for real. A fair price would probably be close to $2000... It took some time and stuff to put it together. I would much rather help someone make a new dream. I didn't make it to sell anything, or be a "viral marketing strategy" as it's been accused of. It is fun for pure fun's sake—that's why people love it. What do I need to make my own hamburger bed? •1 circular bed and "box" frame (mine is way bigger than it looks and took some stealthy moves to get it in my house) •2 tones of light brown fabric •dark brown king fitted sheet •memory foam •king sized yellow and green sheets •30 pillows •a couple of zippers •pantyhose (for the sesame seeds) sew together LOVE! Isn't this technically a cheeseburger bed? “All cheeseburgers are also hamburgers; not all hamburgers are cheeseburgers.” —David Roland Strong http://hamburgerbed.com/ moreResolved Question: I lost an adult tooth, and the empty spot smells, help!?
I had a root canal a couple years ago, but then my insurance wouldnt cover the crown to put on it. On top of that I got pregnant and was vomiting the entire time, so the thing never got fixed. It eventually just came out piece by piece, and now it is just an empty spot. I noticed that it was starting to smell bad in that one spot. If I touched it, it would make my finger smell awful, but no other spot in my mouth was like that. Now the tooth is entirely gone (it is a tooth near the back), but the smell has not gone away. Unfortunately, I have no dental insurance now, and no extra money to go get seen. Does anyone have any experience with this? I was thinking about using GSE (grapefruit seed extract) which is anti viral and antibacterial. Maybe it could kill whatever is going on in my mouth? This is so embarrassing, but I don't really know what to do. moreResolved Question: Few Question on Swine Flu?

When the TV show "Fringe" cuts to commercial, it first shows an image set against a black background with yellow lights. There's been a frog, a leaf with an equilateral triangle in it, an apple with a fetus for seeds, etc. I thought it was maybe linked to a sort of viral marketing campaign, but I can't find what the actual inspirations are for these images. moreResolved Question: Anyone given their cat Manuka Honey or Flax Seed Oil ?
I have a 2 year old British Shorthair who has just been diagnosed with FIP (a fatal feline virus). Traditional veterinary treatment would be steriods to suppress the immune system in conjunction with anti viral drugs. As she has been through so much already, we would like to try a more holistic approach and will hopefully be seeing a homeopathic vet next week. In the meantime I have been doing some research on Flax seed oil (good for the immune system) and Manuka honey (antibacterial & good for pretty much everything) and wondered if anyone else has given their cat either of these with any success? Basically I would like to start getting her immune system back to full health as soon as I possibly can and would appreciate anyone else's experience. Many thanksThanks so much for your answers - we will be seeing a homeopathic vet next week, but it's always useful to hear of others advice or experience. moreResolved Question: 10 points made easy!! I was born with congenital cyst mass over my left cheek. This was very big in my earlier years and as I grew up became less pronounced comparatively because of enlarged face and cheek. About 20 years ago, when I was 40, I had a viral fever when the swelling got enlarged with accompanying pain.A local doctor administered an injection which significantly reduced its size in less than 24 hours time leaving that place fleshier. I am now 60 and for the past 20 years practically there has been no problem. However, a month ago the swelling appeared again almost overnight with a hardened jack-fruit seed size externally visible projection. I consulted 4 doctors all of whom suggested removal of the cyst as the best remedy in view of my age. Surgery is fixed for next week and the CT scan impression taken yesterday reads: cystic mass with high density content and enhancing wall seen overlaying left Parotid Gland with stranding in surrounding subcutaneous fat suggestive of congenital cystic mass.Is there any risk to facial nerves in this surgery? moreResolved Question: Why is EVERYBODY lying (or is it just ignorance) about there being no cure for viral infections?
Especially the common cold. It's what we eat. Wake up people. Our original diet consisted of fruit and every herb bearing seed. If you go back to it, disease CANT exist in your body!! Common sense!! 99% of what we eat is garbage and unfit for human consumption. Think about it. Does everyone want to be sick? Is it "cool?" You dont need a PhD to have common sense. I swear people believe anything they see on TV or hear from a doctor. Nothing is immortal..not even viruses and cancer. more
