Resolved Question: Another serious health warning, or another scare tactic aimed at parents...?

A health watchdog has warned that children under 16 should not be given a popular brand of mouth pain treatment. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) issued an alert on oral pain relief gels which contain salicylate salts, including Bonjela and Bonjela Cool mint gel. The salts have the same effect on the body as aspirin, which is not recommended for those under the age of 16. There are concerns that young children could develop Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious condition which leads to serious liver and brain damage. It is thought a previous viral infection, such as flu or chickenpox, and exposure to aspirin could trigger the illness. However. no cases have yet been reported in connection with Bonjela. Bonjela Teething Gel for young children contains a different formula to the adult varieties and is unaffected. Bonjela is designed to relieve the pain and swelling caused by mouth ulcers, denture sores and brace sores. A statement from the MHRA said: "This is a precautionary measure only and there are no new safety concerns." As of April 16 this year, three suspected serious adverse drug reaction reports were received by the MHRA in association with the use of oral gels containing choline salicylate, including Bonjela. All three cases were in children and all ended up in hospital. However, Reye's syndrome was not confirmed in any child. The MHRA also received another four reports of vomiting or diarrhoea in children following the use of Bonjela, three of which related to the child being given the gel for teething pain. All the children made a full recovery. A statement from manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser said Bonjela and Bonjela Cool would now be clearly labelled Adults and Children over 16 and that the packaging for Bonjela Teething Gel has also been changed. The statement added: "There have been no confirmed cases of Reye's Syndrome associated with Bonjela or Bonjela Cool, which remain safe and effective treatments for adults and children 16 years and over. "Reckitt Benckiser's Bonjela brand... is the UK's number-one-selling pain-relieving gel for mouth sores and has sold over 62 million packs in the last 40 years in the UK." http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Bonjela-Warning-Watchdog-Says-Under-16s-Should-Not-Use-Mouth-Pain-Treatment/Article/200904415267495?lpos=UK_News_Top_Stories_Header_2&lid=ARTICLE_15267495_Bonjela_Warning%3A_Watchdog_Says_Under-16s_Should_Not_Use_Mouth_Pain_Treatment Your views please! more

me and my boyfriend as really struggling financially we are worrying constantly about what we are going to do, we are both our of jobs (my boyfriend lost his job a week before xmas as his company closed down) and i was doing a contract job which ended in december, then i was ill with a bad viral infection for weeks we had a rubbish xmas and new year because i wasnt well enough to go out we had to get xmas dinner brought round to us by a relative and we couldnt give any presents to anyone including ourselves. we've been trying since the new year to get jobs, my boyf works in retail and had a couple of interviews with no luck because theres so much competition for these jobs, the job market is very hard at the moment. And i havent had any luck i work in office work. im signed up to agencies but they have nothing. we havent got enough rent for this month, and ive just about used all my overdraft up, im trying not to go over the limit, we've had the landlord come round to the house to check that rent will be paid in soon, we're desperately trying to sell our possessions but the money comes in dribs and drabs, its not a great amount. i dont know what to do, i have my parents who have given me money a couple of times before in hard times, and my boyf has a father but he is in his own financial mess so my boyf thinks he cant ask him for money. i could ask my mum/dad for help, but ive spoken to them for weeks about how we are struggling and i dont know how we're going to afford our rent, food etc. but they didnt offer money. i dont know whether to ask outright if there's any chance, of borrowing some money to tide us over til we get on our feet. (my parents have given my brother lots of money over the years and always help him out of his debt) i dont want to ask my parents for money, and i feel bad but we are desperate, we need jobs as of right now (even if we got jobs, we would have to wait a month to get paid) has anyone got any advice? more

Resolved Question: What is installed in your company's PCs?

This question is for small shops or small shops + office only. If you run a small office or a small shop + office, you will most probably have a PC or several PCs installed in your premises. What are the programs that are installed in your company PCs? I do know your PCs will most probably have a Windows, a Microsoft Office, an Internet Explorer and an anti viral program. However, what other programs are also installed in your company's PC? Do you install Photoshop or Lotus Notes there? I ask this because my friend was told by her boss to oversee the installation of a small network in her company. Her company is a travel agency. She was told to be sure those people installing the system don't shortchanged the company and all the necessary programs are installed there. However, my friend is no expert in IT and she is only a clerk What sort of programs are installed in the PCs in this type of company? more
