Open Question: Does a store have to honor their incorrect publish pricing?

Does a store have to honor their incorrect published pricing? Lets say a store advertised for a product and the price was incorrect. I go in there wanting to buy the product and the store says they cannot give it to me at this price? is this a "bait and switch"move? Is the published ad a contract? there is no disclaimer? Is this false advertisement? more

Open Question: Ebonyskinshop.net has a price switch scam! But is it illegal?

When you google.Nutra Sonic on google shopping, an ad comes up on page one that says they'll sell it to you for 89.00. When you click on the link, and place the order though, they want to charge you 158.00. I called to ask how to get the 89.00 price, and the agent said they've never had it for that price. I asked about the ad, and she said someone else must have placed the ad, and linked to them. Right. Like someone else is advertising their product for them, and placing ads on google- It seems clear it's a classic bait-and-switch issue, `though I'm not sure who would buy from Ebonyskinshop.net after facing that! Is this kind of thing illegal online, and is their anyway to enforce it? Could I alert someone?? If you . Nutra Sonic on google. shopping, you would see it on the first page. What do you think? more

Open Question: Has anyone bought a dog from an advert in the paper?

If so, did the dog have any health or behavioural problems? What was your experience? Even if you were a child and your family bought one. Up until a few years ago this was what happened here if someone wanted a pet, or they went to the pet shop that sold dogs. I know many people who did and i cannot recall them having bad experiences. I know people who have bought from pounds who have ended up with 'too much dog' and rescue puppies who have had issues but that is just my experience. The majority of breeders here only bred working dogs for herding or hunting, so most people had no use for a dog like that. Not to mention their prices were more than the average family was willing to pay for a pet. Pure breed dogs were bought by those who had a purpose in mind and still are.. hunters bought the springer spaniels, rottweilers were bought to be junkyard dogs and still are used at all the car breaker yards in the city etc. Now they are bred by breeders who sell and advertise them regularly as pets. The city pound usually only had 10-12 dogs at a time so there wasn't a huge selection and those dogs were either old/sick and had been given up by the family or stray dogs that had become a nuisance and caught the attention of the dog warden. Things have changed here recently and i am not sure it was for the best, but, that is another question for another time. What has been your experience of these dogs? Would you buy a dog from an advert again? more

Resolved Question: Photography and schooling, want professional photographers opinions.?

I have been doing lots of photography work for about 3 years now. Just now have I taken it to a professional level and started doing portrait photography for families, children, couples and more. Although I like to do nature photography, I feel like I specialize more in portrait photography. To me, I am rather good with what I do with what little schooling I have had with photography. College is not an option right now, and most likely won't be for a few years due to lack of money. I do, however, take a lot of free online 'classes' and read alot about it. I don't take the classes to learn how to take pictures, I can do that wonderfully with just my talent, I like to learn more about exposure, camera settings, lighting, and other tips and suggestions. My problem is that a lot of people think to be a photographer you have to have schooling and lots of it. I am also fairly young, almost 19. I have the professional equipment that my husband and I bought prior to advertising my work, and I have a lot of experience. I think the pictures and your professionalism should prove it self when I do a person or families shots, but the thing is, I get a lot of people who look past me because of my lack of schooling and age. My prices are extremely cheap, below $100, mostly below $75, and I am confident in my work. What tips would you give me to bring in more customers? I am in the process of learning GIMP and continue reading all about new things with photography. Is there any PROFESSIONAL photographers on here that have made it where they want with out schooling? I am not going to post any of my work, because I believe every one will have their own opinions and I am already confident with what I do. Thanks so much to you all!Alright, I will post some of my work if it is that important. I charge so cheap because I feel like with my age and lack of schooling I probably can not get what I think my work is worth quite yet. Here is a post to my blog with most of my work. http://shoryphotography.blogspot.com/By the way, what is this "it" you speak of that I am so full of?http://s802.photobucket.com/albums/yy305/shorylovephotography/ So you can enlarge the pictures. Resolved Question: Selling my truck- can I say no to someone that wants to buy it for the advertised price?

I have received a lot of interest in my truck since listing it for sale yesterday on Craigslist but an auto dealership wants to buy it right now for the price I am asking. I do not want to sell it to a dealership. Do I have the right to say no or is that discrimination?I too agree that I must have set the price to low to have so much interest which is a bummer for me. When the dealer comes to see the truck in about an hour can I tell him I raised the price? It seems really shitty for me to do that but I really love this truck and am only selling it because it is not right for our family anymore. I know I can sell it to someone (not a dealer) and feel good about the person buying it not some money hungry dealer. ArghhUpdate- I increased the price to $14,000, ditched the dealer and have a few people coming over to see it today even at the new price :) more

Resolved Question: Can you think of one gov program that worked as advertised and didn't cost a lot more than promised?

I can't seem to to think of any. I do know of things that haven't worked that were run by the government. Open Question: My band is trying to sell an EP?

So I'm in a band. The three of us have been working really hard and are finally in the last steps of putting out an EP. It's all totally self-released, because even though we're on a "label," it doesn't really do anything. All of us are in high school - two different ones. To make back the money we're using to actually make the EPs [and in order to make more], we're planning to sell them for a dollar. We figure that's a good price and we're not really planning to make a profit, just enough money to make more CDs and to be able to give them to labels and things for free. My QUESTION is... Obviously the most sensible place I can think of to try to sell these EPs is my school, but am I allowed to do that? Should I talk to administration about it? Since it consists of material we made ourselves, can we just sell it? Or how about like, the local mall? Would it be illegal to go up to people and ask if they wanted to buy it? Basically I just want to know the rules surrounding this. [PS; my band is called Bright Red Reason. Our myspace is http://www.Myspace.com/brightRedReason , so you could check us out too if you have time :D. Haha ok. Shameless advertising over.] Thank you for any help you can provide! Really :) more

Resolved Question: Help with Essay corrections?

This is a little part of my essay on "teenagers and the drug culture" does anyone notice any spelling mistakes or punctuation errors ?( I always put commas in the wrong place ! ) thanks in advance ! (my essay is crap by the way ,I will be lucky if I get a 4 in it !) Many young people experiment with drugs in their teenage years. For some, this leads to addiction and even death. So what are the drugs that are tempting teenagers to live so dangerously? The drug most commonly used my teenagers is alcohol. I believe so many teenagers drink it because it is widely advertised and available for them to use. Also young teenagers see alcohol being used so widely at social occasions, such as weddings and parties that they get the impression that it is acceptable to drink. Alcohol has also been reduced in price in recent years, so it is easy for teens to get hold of cheap “booze” especially cider. Teenagers who are too young to drink or don’t look eighteen are sometimes forced to stealing alcohol from their parents, or they obtain alcohol through older siblings or close friends. I think teenagers drink at a young age because they think it makes them look cool and sound older, but the effects of it are not. At some parties where alcohol is available, there always seems to be at least one friend who is sick everywhere or passes out and makes a complete fool of them self. If this is so, then why do people drink so much if they know the consequences? more

Open Question: Kelp supplement - Human vs. Dog?

I needed to add a kelp supplement to my dogs' diet. I have seen many different varieties for dogs available (Organic, Human-Grade, etc.), but was curious- What is the difference between dog kelp and human kelp supplements? Are the supplement doses, ingredients, or processing methods different? This is especially confusing because companies advertise a human-grade variety of kelp supplements for dogs. I am really concerned because of the difference in prices. Human kelp supplements are much cheaper.. so are the labeling differences really just a marketing ploy? -Thanks. more

Open Question: Can ryanair drop prices a few hours after advertising "only 3 fares left at this price"?

I was thinking of flying to Spain at Easter, and was keeping an eye on Ryan-air prices. This morning I noticed that the return leg was priced at £29.99 with a message stating "only 3 fares left at this price". I went ahead and booked at 1pm, although I would have preferred to wait a couple more days for credit card billing reasons. At 9pm, I went to the website again to check the times and they've dropped the price to £21.99!! OK, they didn't say the price was going to increase but it was implied. Voting Question: Aren’t you glad you’re not a famous rich actor/actress, going to the Oscars, because you’ve been nominated?

Especially women…they have to wear very tight and uncomfortable designer dresses in which they can barely walk, breathe or sit down. Add the high heels to that. I’d like to see how they handle peeing in public toilets in those. They usually don’t even own the dress, it was lent to them because they’re walking advertising but they have to name the designer in any interview. Any journalist on the red carpet will ask “what are you wearing?” It’s not like anybody care but it’s a requirement. The famous actress gets to wear the dress that she does not have to buy…but she has to say the designer’s name. The journalist will have to ask the question about the designer, so the actress can say the name of the designer, otherwise she would not answer any questions from the journalist and just waive and move on. You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours. Then they have to wear those heavy, “this is the price of a house” cold stones around their neck and pulling down on their ear lobes. They don’t even own those jewels; it was lent to them because they’re walking advertising (then the jeweler has to go to court when celebrities’ personal assistant “forget” to return the borrowed jewels, ha-ha). They have to do all that while smiling a fake smile with fake white teeth, and looking a little too happy while wondering why oh why do I subject myself to this? Having money but wearing things I don’t even own…then, they remember…they got into this business for fame, fortune and adulation…none of those are easy. Then everybody will notice that they either lost too much weight or gained too much weight. Then whatever they look like, some people will criticize their fashion sense, in magazines, trash papers, online… Men will be judged by their arm candies. If she’s an unknown, sexy and half his age…then he’s a loser and she’s a gold digger. If she’s not sexy, even nice and classy, and she’s as old as him, because she’s his soul mate, then people will think “gosh, he could do better than that!” more

Resolved Question: Friesians for free? Definate Scam! How do you stop them?

Yes this is a definite scam. I have contacted oodle and equinenow about this obvious scam and they say there is nothing they can do. I am sincerely looking for a horse and have been looking at the friesians. I have contacted everyone from $0 up to $2000 and they have all been a hoax. They offer the shipping and without even knowing where to send the horse they pick a number off the top of their head for the shipping ranging anywhere from $500 to $1500. When I tell them I can come pick up the horse they give me a fictitious address and when I google the address there is no such place or it is a place of business ie: flooring company, newspaper bldg, an alley way or an empty lot. When I confront them with the wrong address issues they usually give me another false address. If there is anyone out there with one for a reasonable price (one that I could afford) they are going to be hard to find because of these scammers. I spent a whole day contacting well over 20 ads and every single one of them was fictitious. People need to be made aware that nothing on oodle should be trusted. They are all fraud and people should not advertise their horses or anything else on oodle. I actually had one respond and called me an idiot because I confronted him that he gave me a fictitious address. Does anyone know how they can be stopped? more

Resolved Question: Is the Swivel Sweeper G2 a Good sweeper and worth the money?

Has anyone tried the Swivel Sweeper G2 that is advertised on the InfoMercials on TV. I need to clean up dog hair off the carpets and have tile and carpeted floors. Would like to clean the concrete drive as well. It looks kinda whimpy but I'm not hard on appliances any more as I'm now old enough to know how far to push stuff and when something is too much. They are offering two sweepers for the cost of one but is the shipping and handling outrageous or reasonable? I'm asking this here now b/c if I get on the phone the sales person should convince me to buy it but I would like to hear REAL stories of how this appliance has worked for other Yahoo members. Will this thin fall apart in a month? Will the brushes get filled with dog hair and stop working or is it easily cleanable in the brush area? Does it really run for 45 minutes on a charge and how long does it take to charge it back up? I realize that I will be dumping the tray in the trash quite a bit, but my house is a mess b/c my vacuum is too large and wont get into the small areas under the sink in the kitchen and along the cupboards and floor edges, and this sweeper looks great. But then the ad is SUPPOSED to make it look great. IS IT AS GREAT AS IT SOUNDS? I have a VERY limited budget and if there is something better for the price I need to know that before I blow $40 on this and probably another $20 in shipping + tax (California). But yet when I see these things advertised on TV on like home shopping network, the picture looks amazing....and then you start to read reviews of people that own them and they just rave about the picture quality, not to mention the value of screen size you get for the money. Seems to me like DLP isn't as bad as what some web sites want you to believe. For the screen size and price, and from what I've seen awesome picture, it seems like a DLP wouldn't be a bad way to go. Resolved Question: Summonsed to court for non payment of TV license?

As you do...I refuse to pay for channels I don't watch(and which now get revenue from advertising, so what gives!?)!! My question is: Is there ANY way someone on very little money can take the TV licensing people to court for unfair business practices or something? Trading standards? I mean, what other example is there of a service provider forcing those that don't use their service to still pay full price for it, just because there's a POSSIBILITY they might use it!? Have they not heard of subscriptions(oh, that's right...if they went down that road they would lose 90% of their audience...except when the brain-draining soaps were on of course)!?? How long, do you think, we are going to be held hostage and forced to pay the BBC a disgusting amount of money for access to TV signal receiving equipment they don't even make(including mobile phones, home & portable computers, modern monitors, modern games consoles)? You now technically need a TV license to legally play Modern Warfare 2 on the PS3, because the PS3 has the ability to receive BBC 1 or 2, REGARDLESS of whether you want to use that option or not! LOL! Is it not now vastly unfair to the other channels too, that the BBC not only gets funded by the public, they now receive revenue from advertising as well!? So yeah, it's a rant-esque kinda question, sorry! But I'd LOVE to sue the BBC for making me pay for something I don't want, so help would be appreciated! :) more

Open Question: What do you think of older guns?

I like older mail order/kitchen door guns and older military guns. I just started getting into single shots and older guns. I know what to look at when buying them and how to check to see if there safe to fire. I had my eyes on a Spanish Imperial in .38 Special after handling it, It had way to much play in cylinder didn't function in SA sometimes and trigger was way to lose and needed parts that would have had to be custom made. I asked what other handguns they had around $150. He said since he knows I have a thing for old guns I would feel like I was at a history convention. I was soon looking at a counter full of old top break revolvers from yester year in .32 S&W and .38 S&W. Most where Iver Johnson/US Revolvers with a one H&R and one S&W. After a few minutes I had a Iver Johnson third model top break in .38 set a side for my dad to pick up on Saturday. I put my the S&W and H&R and a .32 Iver hammerless on my list. Any ways why do people not have and interest or like these guns? I mean all these new tactical guns the have in the show room but if they know you enough you can go in the back room or corner behind the counter and dig threw military rifles. There are great prices like a unissued MAS 36 for $230 and a K-31 for $175 these took a while to get off the shelf I guess just me and a few collectors are interested in them but these AK and AR style rifles along with the new plastic pistol or anything "tacti-cool" flies off the shelf. They have a basement full of older shotguns and rifles that just gather dust down there. I mean I once seen a guy interested in a Winchester 1200 and was offered a Ted Williams 200 for $50 less but he payed the extra money for a Winchester logo and chipped stock. I mean why not give the attention to these old guns they deserve? I'll admit most of them are out dated but we wouldn't be where were at with out them. Most of these were every where and highly advertised. You might say single shot shotguns for example are a dime a dozen. I look like each one of those has a different story and unique in there own way. If those guns could talk about there travels and all they saw I could listen day in and out. I see AR rifles and tacti-cool guns as bland and underneath those thirty pounds of accessories there all the same. Any way what is your personal view on these older/mail order guns? I'm pretty interested to the answers here. more

Voting Question: need help with my assingment...?

The following memo contains 30 intentional errors in sentence structure, spelling, and proofreading. Edit the memo and print it with a 1-inch top margin. Delete these instructions. MEMORANDUM DATE:[Use current date] TO:Maria S. Damen, Vice President, Marketing [Insert handwritten initials] FROM: Ryan Jenkins, Exhibit Manager SUBJECT:REDUCING A MAJOR EXPENSE AT TRADE SHOWS As you suggested, Matthew Chavez and myself have been searching for ways to reduce our trade show exhibition costs’. One of our companys major expenses at these shows is the visitors gift that we present. At last years show we gave away a nine-color, silk-screened T-shirt. Which was designed by a high-priced New York designer. Each shirt cost $15 to produce, however, I’ve located a Chinese supplier who can produce good-looking T-shirts. For the low cost of only $4 each. Look at the savings we can make: 2,000 silk-screened T-shirts @$15$30,000 2,000 cheaper T-shirts @$4 8,000 SAVINGS$22,000 This major saving was immediatley apparent to Matthew and I, as we studied the problem. Please examine the enclosed T-shirt sample. If you compare T-shirts, you might expect a cheaper shirt to be dis-similar; but as you can see, this shirt is quiet presentable. What’s more, it advertises our name just as well as the more expensive silk-screened T-shirts. If the decision were up to Matthew or I, we would be happy to wear the cheaper shirt. With increasing travel costs and de-creasing trade show budgets, us in marketing must look carefully at how we spent the companies limited funds for exhibitions. Over the last several years,’ we have de-creased the number of shows in which we participate, we have also taken fewer booth staffers then in the passed. This is a significant place to reduce expenses. For our next major trade show, please authorize the purchase of 2,000 T-shirts. Which can save us $22,000 in exhibition costs. With managements approval before December 1, we can be sure to receive supplys from our Chinese manufacturer for the spring Las Vegas trade show. Matthew and myself look forward to your quick response. If your worried about this suggestion or need more details, please call me at Ext. 480 so that we can talk about it. Enclosure more

Resolved Question: Photo images & advertising industry: i want to buy the image below, but its way too expensive. can you suggest?

...a way that i might be able to get it for a reasonable price? i have told the company [CORBIS] that i want to get a large poster of it to frame and put on my wall, but as they sell images for advertising, their charges are huge. i have said to them that i would really like to give them some money, but they werent interested in taking my money, other than at the steep advertising-related prices they charge. if you know about photography in relation to the advertising industry, can you suggest a way i can get this image for a poster/print kind of price? i have tried to track down, who the photograper is, to explore a personal request to said person, but ive come up against a solid wall. http://www.veer.com/products/IMP0018060_overhead-shot-of-sunlight-glinting the image i want is also on the cd lower down the page, but that costs £350! how can i get this image, without the huge cost? more

Resolved Question: Are pet sanctuaries catering to their friends & associates?

I recently visited a 20 acre pet sanctuary nestled in the rolling hills of a nearby town in Central California. They advertised a set price for their animals as well as their rules & terms for adoption of one of their "pets". We were told that we met their criteria & cleared for a walk around the grounds to view the 100 dogs. We braved the steep hillsides & viewed the animals in their pens. Each seemed happy, yet protective of their personal areas. We had no guide with us. Only a 5 page instruction sheet with the pen/cage number & name & description of each dog. We found the dog of our dreams. The sheet said "not ready for adoption". We asked when this dog would be ready & the man said after it was "fixed" by the vet in a week or so. We filled out the forms & went home. Happy knowing that the extra trip & all the physical exertion was worth the trip & the time. We were elated to find such a wonderful dog. A talker! Then we got a phone call from the owner who said she was sorry because we could not adopt a young animal without having an older dog already in our home. She said something about "socialization" & suggested that we take one of her older dogs. No thanks. They weren't a good match. We want a forever pet that we will love & socialize with other animals. The dog will get the best training money can buy. ~What's wrong with only having one ONE DOG in a house? I don't get it with these groups. We are so sad that years of searching have been squashed with a phone call from a person who seemed to have ulterior motives for their dogs.Note to John- The info we have on these pups is what the volunteers & workers have told us. We didn't even know this sanctuary had pups for adoption until we saw them in a cage. Outside & in the elements, chewing on foxtails through the fencing. Anyone with dog knowledge knows that foxtails are something that should not be left to grow in the areas where dogs or cats live & exercise. Anyway, the only consistency in the stories is that the vet has first crack at taking the pets when they go in for their spay & neutering @ 12 weeks of age. I smell a rat in all of this. It's none of my business. The least they could do is to list these rules somewhere on their 5+pages of doggie listings & orgaization criteria. We will spend 10x the amount the rescue is asking for this dog to travel to another state for a "like" type of a dog. I suspect Tilly will be used for breeding stock. It's a shame how SOME rescue orgs get around their own rules when there's money & trade involved! more

Resolved Question: how much rent should i expect to pay?

hi everyone. i am in a bit of a weird situation. i am living in a place right now that i can't afford for the rest of the school year. i have found a place close to campus for half the price, which is awesome but my 30 day notice is up on the 15th of this month. therefore i would expect to pay half month's rent, right? (i'm not even sure if that's the way it works...) however, there's another catch. the room was advertised at 700/mo because they were trying to find two girls to split the 1400 cost of the room. they found two of us but the other is not moving in until the beginning of april. so, would that mean i have to pay for half of the WHOLE room (meaning i'd pay 700 for half a month and then 700/mo after that)? i'm not sure what to expect here and i'm just wondering if i should tell them i think i should only pay 350 or not? this is very confusing for me, my parents usually deal with this (i'm 18) but they're pretty busy right now so any help would be VERY appreciated! thank you :)yes, it's month to month. so should i have to pay for the girl who hasn't moved in yet? someone said it depends so should i just ask what they expect? i just don't wanna be cheated, that's all. more

Resolved Question: What to do about yahoo users abusing accounts to send craigslist spam?

I've recently been using Craigslist to post a couple dozen articles for sale and I've been receiving generic emails from yahoo users, here are a couple: Hello is this still for sale? Voting Question: I am seriously considering buying a Lambretta Scooter... can anyone help me know what to look for?

Hi, Ive got my heart set on a lambretta i have seen advertised. its an Li125 series 2. I have never owned a scooter of any type before and wanted to know what specifically do I look for with regards to problems. I have been assured its in original condition and from the pictures it looks to be in good condition with only a few very minor scratches. I am thinking of buying it before I pass my test so I cant go out and test it, and I also do not know anybody who knows about these things who could come with me. Are there any common problems, I hear reliability is a huge issue and as long as it runs fine then I'll be happy as I know nothing about mechanics!! the advert states all it needs to be fixed is the rear light Also does anybody know what a good price to offer would be, I know im going into this blind and am the perfect target to be ripped off! Its on for less than £2k which seems to be very reasonable as I have been watching various bikes being sold for a lot more... I would ask on the lambretta owners club forum but there is a membership fee to be paid :( Thanks in advance! Thanks for the responses so far, I am willing to learn the mechanical aspects as undoubtedly it would go wrong at some point. My father has had to be good over the years at fixing old cars but there is a good scooter garage near where I live, and I dont mind having it fixed every now and again. Theres no way i'd get a modern scooter, have also been tempted by a vespa however, so I will look at that avenue as well a bit more. Ive been putting off learning to drive for the last 10 years and admittedly I am the kind of person who puts style over substance! Wont be using it too much, just to travel about 15 miles a day to work so a car would just end up costing me too much to run. more

Voting Question: Marketing pricing, paper? radio advertising?

Resolved Question: driverchecker.com employee ! Your customer who paid 39.99 needs help and no help available?

I paid 39.99 for help to fix a blue screen issue on my computer last week and like magic an answer to solve my problem came through when a person said use this software at driverchecker.com for a price of 39.99 and that should help you. Well I surely thought it could help but I never realized it would hurt me in the end. Your product did nothing to fix any problem instead it created more of a problem and the worst problem is that on your website it big bold letters shows the help section will respond to the paying customers within 24 hours. I sent 7 emails within 5 days and no answers. How funny that the yahoo answer to my blue screen question . that driverchecker.com was answered less than 5 minutes after i submitted my ? to the forum . .and now that I need help trying to get support at driverchecker.com all I get is Nothing for the small fee of 39.99. Is this company really in business? My next question is where to report this problem of services advertising in this forum that are obviously not helping or assisting the public on computer problems and have taken my 39.99 and have no way of allowing their paying customers to contact them. How can I find out if this is an internet scam that seems to be a hoax because the product once it's paid for has a menu that does nothing but scan my computer So BLUESCREEN PROBLEMS SHOULD NOT PAY DRIVERCHECKER.COM 39.99 FOR SOMETHING THAT DELIVERS NOTHING AND WILL NOT RESPOND FOR HELP ON THIS PRODUCT. SO BEWARE DRIVERCHECKER.COM SALESMAN WHO POSTED THIS TO HELP ME . YOU GOT ME GOOD FOR SURE. more

Resolved Question: Accounting Homework, Need Help!?

I have this homework problem that I'm stuck on. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! There are 3 parts to it (a,b&c). Again any help will be helpful to me. Thanks Purple Cow operates a chain of drive-ins selling primarily ice cream products. The following information is taken from the records so a typical drive-in operated by the company: Average selling price of ice cream per gallon $16.00 Number of gallons sold per month 3,000 Variable costs per gallon: Ice cream $5.60 Supplies (cups, cones, toppings, etc.) 2.40 Total variable costs per gallon $ 8.00 Fixed costs per month: Rent on building $ 2,200. Utilities and upkeep 760. Wages, including payroll taxes 4,840. Manager’s salary, including payroll taxes but excluding any bonus 2,500. Other fixed expenses 1,700. Total fixed costs per month $12,000. Based on these data, the monthly break-even sales volume is determined as follows: $12,000 (fixed costs) = 1,500 gallons (or $24,000) $8.00 (contribution margin per unit) Requirements: a. Currently, all store managers have contracts calling for a bonus of 20 cents per gallon for each gallon sold beyond the break-even point. Compute the number of gallons of ice cream that must be sold per month in order to earn a monthly operating income of $10,000 (round to the nearest gallon.) b. To increase operating income, the company is considering the following two alternatives: 1. Reduce the selling price by an average of $2.00 per gallon. This action is expected to increase the number of gallons sold by 20%. (Under this plan, the manager would be paid a salary of $2,500 without receiving a bonus.) 2. Spend $3,000 per month on advertising without any change in selling price. This action is expected to increase the number of gallons sold by 10%. (Under this plan, the manager would be paid a salary of $2,500 without receiving a bonus.) Which of these two alternatives would result in the higher monthly operating income? How many gallons must be sold per month under each alternative for a typical outlet to break even? Provide schedules to support all of your answers. c. Draft a short memo to management indicating your recommendations with respect to these alternative marketing strategies. more

Resolved Question: What is the best way to search for amazon best deals?

Hello - what is the best way to search for amazon best and real deals? I am little bit confused with it - because 'face price' amazon advertise is overly inflated and unreal. So I am looking for something like azpricewatch . com - they use real price and find deals and price drops related to real product price.. not overinflated 'face' price.. Are there more websites like this?Thank you! more

Resolved Question: Does anyone else feel a little cuheated by subways new 5 dollar ANY footlong promotion?

Subway has launched a major advertising campaign for their 5 dollar ANY footlong. However, in fine print, it says "only regular footlongs." The footlongs they labeled "premium" are not 5 dollars, but they are regular price. I feel this to be misleading--and I guess it wouldn't bother me as much, but I went to subway and got a premium sub, paid full price, then inquired why (after I paid bc I was wondering) and they laughed in my face and literally told me "haha alot of people ask that question." Yeah, funny times to cheat your customers, awesome. more
