moreResolved Question: Does a freeware .mpg to .wmv converter exist that is reliable?
I've tried "Any Video Converter" that at first seemed to do an awesome job with taking 1GB+ video clips and turning them into 100MB and under clips with excellent quality. But I started seeing that after over an hour of encoding a file, the audio wasn't syncing up with the video and was waaay off.
I tried Windows Media Encoder. It seemed to do a good job with the video - but there's no freaking audio to go with the video that it converted. It stripped the audio for some unknown reason, and just made a video only with no sound.
Does a freeware program exist that will do this simple conversion without all the b.s. false advertising?
moreResolved Question: Vodafone Mobile Broadband Help?
Basically I'm getting a laptop and mobile broadband for my Birthday, but I'm a bit confused, so it'd be much appreciated if anyone could help!
I'm dead-set on going with Vodafone, as they're my mobile provider and I never seem to have any problems with them.
It advertises as their Standard option being -
3GB. You could surf for 100 hours, send 2000 e-mails, download 200 music tracks and 100 short video clips.
However, their premium version is only 5GB and advertises it as 100 hours, too.
I would only be using my laptop for going on the internet and stuff, not downloading anything.
Does this mean you only get 100 hours per month of internet? As being 15, I'm mostly on the internet around 5 hours a day, doing coursework and studying etc.

I am an internet advertiser. I have been advertising for a year and I usually keep myself competitive and respect other websites like mine. However, one website has been destroying the competition. I figured out how they did it was placing their website name and logo on numerous free clips of Hollywood movies via YouTube. Aren't these movie clips and trailers copyrighted? I have proof of this and can provide links to these videos, however what do I do now? who can I contact? is this even a big deal?we both advertise the same product and it has nothing to do with Hollywood, and I can bet whoever owns the site is making lots of money on Hollywood's expense.

I just got done watching the latest "episode" of The Office. There is nothing I hate more than a clip show. You get lured in by the network under the false pretenses of a new episode, only to find out that they've just strung together a series of old clips and called it a new episode. It's like going to a junkyard, putting a bunch of old parts together and calling it a new car. It's false advertising. It's immoral. It's the reason all network executives go to hell.Congress needs to take action now to prevent further injustice.

moreResolved Question: I'm designing video game, who has some ideas and suggestions?
As just said, I am currently programming a video game of my own. As a story, you have entered a dance contest and lost badly. You do not know why but you suspect that you lost your groove. Now, to find out what your groove is, you will have to travel from town to town to see what's best for you. Each town has it's own music genre and theme. Here's what I have so far:
Classical, Blues, Country, Oldies, Rock, Rap/HipHop, Metal, Techno, Pop, Disco, 80s
I need to know if I should group any of these together? Should I split Rap and Hip Hop as to seperate genres? Should I remove the 80s "genre" because it realy isn't a genre... but I'm making the game for my sister... and she loves 80s music. And are there any genres I'm leaving out (that are actualy worth putting in the game)?
Oh, and I forgot to say, it's a platform game. I am using XPivot program to make story clips (by importing sprites, I am not using stick people, for those who are familiar with pivot).
I am including cheats in the game. Maybe I will have hidden worlds that can be unlocked by a code.. or something.
So if anyone wants to help out, I can (if you want) put you in the credits of my game when it's finished. Please list anything that could help me. Maybe give me some cheat ideas or different genres and basicaly anything that could make this game easier to make.
When the game is finished, I will probably advertise it on youtube or something. I am almost positive that I will make it freeware.
Ok, Thanks!!!!Neil G had a good idea... but then I looked up all the genres and subgenres... Oh my gosh... so many... I'm talking hundreds... their is no way I could possibly get more than 100 genres of music into my game! So I don't think I could do that. Overall, I plan to have AT LEAST 10 worlds in the game, and NO MORE THAN 15 worlds. Each world will have... probably... 3 levels each. My original plan was to make each world have a different genre. Each level have a different song that has the corresponds.
Gosh, I just keep rambling on! I'm gonna shut up now and listen to what you guys have to say!Ok, Here's my new world list:
Blues
Classical
Country
Dance
Heavy Metal / Hard Rock
Techno
Pop
Progressive / Oldies
Rap
R&B / Soul

moreResolved Question: The New Moon movie sucks.?
I saw New moon yesterday and the movie itself did quite suck so please don't exaggerate it! Kirsten Stewarts acting was bad, Dakotas "oh so big role" wasn't really there, the whole Volturi scene was far to fast and in the last minutes of the movie everything just got pushed in. New Moon had better animation scenes than Twilight- the wolfs were extraordinary and exactly like I imagined them to be -but what was up with the cheap virgin plane advertising or the "october/november" scene? From an actors points of view the only one who came over real was Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene. Kristen Stewart is just annoying and Taylor Lautner still is just "cute" although he is the big shapeshifter(wolf) and has all the bulky muscles.
Two more points:
First: Most of the movie was given away in the trailers and clips and basically everything "good" from the movie was in the trailers/clips released before.
Second: The only entertaining parts were the wolfs and the volturi but that all went by way to fast because the "2hour time" was wasted on other parts that are less interesting.
I have have read all books so yes I do know what the books are about ! Now all you Twihards go ahead and start telling me about how wrong I am. But stop thinking about Edward and Jacob "hotness" because that's all you seem to notice and start thinking about how the acting itself was and how the movie was because most of the time it was boring. Don't tell me it was entertaining just because you saw the guys bodies or what? I'm a girl myself but I do not understand how you girls/woman can drool over guys you never met.
Please do not say New Moon was the best movie ever because it cleary had very very poor acting!
I am now awaiting and hoping that Eclipse will live up it's expectations.

moreResolved Question: How to find a job in a tough market through applied practical fashion?
I clipped the items below today from one of my favorite websites, ‘Aol find a job / Career Builder’
http://jobs.aol.com/articles/2009/10/16/what-not-to-wear-to-a-job-interview/?icid=main|htmlws-main-n|dl4|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fjobs.aol.com%2Farticles%2F2009%2F10%2F16%2Fwhat-not-to-wear-to-a-job-interview%2F
The following is a list of fashion choices the article recommends all job seekers ought avoid when interviewing for a job:
1. Sunglasses on top of your head or headphones around your neck
Be sure to remove all your "transit gear" and tuck it in your briefcase before entering the lobby.
2. Carrying a backpack or fannypack instead of a briefcase or portfolio
Some image consultants suggest women ditch their purse, too!
3. Too-short skirts
Your skirt should cover your thighs when you are seated.
4. The wrong tie
Ties should be made of silk, no less than 3 ¾ inches wide with a conservative pattern. Image consultants say the best colors are red or burgundy.
5. Overly bright or large-patterned clothing
With the possible exception of creative fields like advertising or computer programming, it's best to stick with navy, black or gray.
6. Heavy makeup on women
(or any makeup on a man)
7. Earrings on men
In fact, men should avoid wearing any jewelry unless it is a wedding ring, class ring or metal watch.
8. More than one set of earrings on women
9. Facial piercings, tongue jewelry or visible tattoos
10. Ill-fitting clothes
Few people can wear things straight off the rack. Spending a little extra to have your garments tailored is a worthwhile investment.
11. Long fingernails, especially with bright or specialty polishes
Nails should look clean and be trimmed to a length that doesn't leave an observer wondering how you keep from stabbing yourself.
12. Unnatural hair colors or styles
Remember, Donald Trump was a billionaire well before he began wearing a comb-over. If you're balding, try a close-cropped cut like Bruce Willis or Matt Lauer.
13. Short-sleeved shirts
Even worse when worn with a tie
14. Fishnets, patterned hosiery or bare legs (no matter how tan you are)
Women should stick with neutral color hosiery that complements their suit.
15. Men whose socks don't match their shoes
Or whose socks are too short and leave a gap of flesh when they are seated
16. Rumpled or stained clothing
If interviewing late in the day, try to change to a fresh suit beforehand.
17. Scuffed or inappropriate footwear
Including sneakers, stilettos, open-toed shoes and sandals
18. Strong aftershaves, perfumes or colognes
Many people are allergic to certain scents. For a subtle fragrance, use a good quality bath soap.
19. Belts and shoes that don't match
Shoes and belts should be made of leather or leather-like materials and the best colors for men are black or cordovan.
20. Telltale signs that you're wearing a new suit
Remove all tags and extra buttons -- and remember to cut off the zigzag thread that keeps pockets and slits closed!
I personally think that list is far too long and complicated, and consequently, I have composed what I think is a more concise and easier to remember list:
1. When interviewing for a job, always wear a costume that disguises your actual identity then role play a fictional character in order to deceive your prospective employer because that is the only way an unworthy and deficient piece of crap like you will ever get a job.
There, how is that? That’s a lot easier to remember, don't you think? Do you have any other good ideas for the job interview fashion recommendation list?BA COMMENT (part 1): I’m disappointed by voter apathy and low turnout but the two answers posted are nonetheless good and thoughtful ones (although I suspect Doc stopped reading somewhere prior to my sarcastic conclusion). (I’m going to try condensing and revising this question then asking it again.) I obviously can never logically reconcile collectivism with individualism but I do in fact consider individuality a crucial element of collectivism. I (and in my estimation an overwhelming majority of collectivists) do not want us all in identical black jumpsuits chanting common phrases. To me, collectivism means unconditional universal inclusion and that means we never recommend disguises or advise each other on how best to conceal our principles and personal identities. I have spent most of my professional career under ‘business attire’ hair & dress codes, and no experience in my lifetime (including disputes with the IRS) has ever come anywhere near equaling the oppression I have feltfrom an employer empowered to dictate my physical appearance. What could ever be more personal, more intrusive and humiliating or a more absolute form of power than to directly control something so crucial as personal physical identity? Perhaps somewhat counter-intuitively, it is precisely the ideal of individualism that entitles my employer to exercise the individual liberty to oppress my individuality, while the unconditional universality of collectivism is the arguably superior safeguard. I do not ‘want’ to work for the man; economic & social conditions COMPEL me to work for the man, and long before any argument, challenge or dialogue ever occur, I cloak myself in a disguise, conceal my identity then deceive the prospective employer with fraudulent conformity (both physical and intellectual -- After successfully deceiving a prospective employer with my disguise, convinced of my conformity and uniformity, most of my employers, managers and coworkers then feel surprisinglycomfortable telling me how much they hate people like me… of course, totally unaware all the while that I am in fact a person like me). This is the story of my professional lifetime; for the majority of it, I portray a fictional character, I am a spy, an enemy infiltrator, a fugitive under an assumed identity. Surely, no one would ever dispute these are unhealthy relationships built on falsehoods and deception. I make a very sharp distinction between individualism and individuality, and I am quite confident based on our previous correspondence that you easily appreciate that distinction, and in addition I imagine you appreciate and respect individuality no less than me. So, once again, I find the fundamental disagreements between the reasonable rational collectivist and the reasonable rational individualist among the most trivial and negotiable of the components involved in the issue. Great response, and again as usual, sorry for the verbose reply.

CAIR Spent $160,000 to Silence Savage New book Reveals
Memos Behind Campaign to Run Radio Star Off the Air

Michael Savage
An explosive new book based on a daring six-month undercover operation exposing the subversive agenda of the Council on American-Islamic Relations reveals the Muslim group spent $160,000 in an unsuccessful effort to run top-rated nationally syndicated radio host Michael Savage off the air.
Internal CAIR documents uncovered in "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America" show that despite its high cost and the continued success of Savage's show, CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad believed the campaign was "worth every penny," because, he says, the radio star lost at least $1 million in advertising
.
Authors P. David Gaubatz and Paul Sperry recount how CAIR ran out of money before it could crack Savage's most loyal sponsors.
As WND reported, Savage sued CAIR in December 2007, two months after the Muslim lobby group began urging "people of all faiths" to contact Savage's advertisers to protest "anti-Muslim bigotry" on the air. CAIR cited Savage calling the Quran "a throwback document" and "a book of hate" and demanding CAIR be thrown out of the country for promulgating it.
Savage's copyright infringement and RICO lawsuit alleged CAIR illegally published singled-out quotes and audio excerpts from the show regarding Islam, misappropriated his words and used the clips for its own fundraising purposes, damaging the value of his copyrighted material. Judge Susan Illston of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California dismissed the case, determining CAIR had a legal right to use excerpts of a public broadcast for purposes of comment and criticism. But Illston ruled in Savage's favor when CAIR attempted to extract attorneys fees. Savage declared Illston's November 2008 decision a "huge victory for me, personally, but also for the rest of America who is afraid of this lawsuit-happy group of intimidators."
In their new book, Gaubatz, a counter-terrorism investigator and former federal agent with vast experience in the Middle East, and Sperry, a veteran reporter on the war on terror and author of "Infiltration," document CAIR's role as a U.S. front for the Muslim Brotherhood's plan to transform America into an Islamic nation under the authority of the Quran.
In a chapter titled "Blackmailing Corporate America," the authors show how CAIR tries to intimidate major corporations and media figures, such as Savage.
An internal memo – one of thousands of pages extracted by Gaubatz's son Chris, who posed as a Muslim convert and became a CAIR intern for six months – showed CAIR considered broadening its campaign against Savage.
The effort against the talk-radio star included formation of a nonprofit called Hate Hurts America, which published on its website lists of advertisers along with contact information.
A CAIR staffer wrote in an internal memo that the "idea behind Hate Hurts America is great and has the potential to go far. However, I feel that if you want to continue with HHA and not lose momentum, the campaign needs to expand beyond Michael Savage to other bigoted talk show hosts."
The report noted that it's much easier to get the attention of large corporations rather than small firms or franchises, because large corporations like AT&T have a reputation at stake and "don't want to be associated with anything that might seem controversial."
The CAIR memo said, however, companies that are endorsed or directly promoted by Savage on the air, such as Life Lock or Swiss America, are "an absolute no" for targeting.
"They are loyal to Savage and there is a chance they might sue," the memo said.
False figure
As WND reported, the British government apparently seized on campaigns against Savage by CAIR and others when it used his name to provide "balance" to a "least wanted list" dominated by Muslim extremists. Savage's ban from entry to the U.K. prompted an invitation from the Cambridge Union to debate political correctness via a video link, but the society canceled his appearance, scheduled for tomorrow, citing "legal issues" among other problems.
The chapter in "Muslim Mafia" covering Savage's ordeal with CAIR also shows how the Islamic group has tried to intimidate Hollywood and companies such as Nike, Bank of America and US Airways by citing a false figure of 7 million American Muslims who are ready and willing to boycott their services.
Despite widespread use of the figure in media, propagated by CAIR and others, the Pew Research Center recently estimated the American-Muslim population to be only about 2.35 million.
The book also reveals CAIR recently has teamed up with the American Civil Liberties Union to consolidate resources onmc93433 is another coward that will not allow a direct response so here it is in the clear:

moreResolved Question: What are some advertising/marketing mediums that I could use?
We are making a project in which we advertise Shakespeare and a few of his plays. What are some creative methods of advertising a play?
(My ideas so far are to make a preview video clip, make a flyer, and to make some sort of packaged snack promoting a play) Thanks for your help in advance! :)
moreVoting Question: legal use of pictures for advertising?
I have a short amount of time to come up with a half page ad for a company I work for. It involves vegetables and I was wondering what legal options do I have in regards to using pictures I find online? I don't want to do anything illegal, but want to use some photos or clip art. Microsoft office clip art is allowed only for personal use so that is out. Anyone else doing this or have done this. The company already has a logo, I just wanted to use photos relevant to the customers we are trying to reach.

moreResolved Question: Does Youtube have hidden advertisement ?How to block those advertises ?
Recently, I found some advertising sound from the background of youtube while I was watching clips, it happens very often. I'm sure the advertise is from Youtube page, not the clips or anywhere else (since I tried pausing the clips and check everywhere else ). The advertises were like a music player with height=0 and width=0 (I guess).
How can I block those disturbing advertising, I tried Noscript in Firefox but no work since they are on the same address of the Youtube clips.

moreResolved Question: What is your opinion on this article?
I was recently just reading a " In Touch " magazine and I turned to a random page.
There was a big picture of Aubrey O'Day and her dog, Ginger. Her dog Ginger has pink dyed ears, with a purple butterfly clip tightly clipped to the top of her head. Along with that, it says, " It's a line of dog hair dye called Ginger Lights ".
Underneath that, it says.. " Aubrey O'Day says her teacup maltese is a fierce fashionista! ".
Can I point out the TEACUP part in this? Are stars REALLY that gullible now-a-days? Especially advertising such a sick dog?
Now, may I include more of the article that completely shocked me...
" I am so in love with her - she's my daughter! She has an entire dresser full of clothing! She owns so many clothes, it's ridiculous! I buy her everything I see.. dogs could be fashionable too! I've been dressing her since she was very young, she gets excited cause she knows we are leaving! "
It also says, " Ginger is perfection! " and " Aubrey has a deep connection with Ginger, her 1-year-old teacup maltese. "
I want to know what you think on this article.

moreResolved Question: Subtitles: is it a choice of a nation's network, the nation, or the televison show, itself?
The other week, I was on youtube searching for a few random clips of one of my favorite shows, Heroes, when I happened to find some commercials of the show for other nations then the US. I only really found the commercials that would be shown in Japan and Germany, and both used subtitles for the clips they used to advertise with. However, this made me think of how some ( Spanish/Latin American ) channels I have dub over the American English speaking actors to Spanish for Spanish-speaking audiences. So it made me curious to *why they wouldn't dub the show Heroes for the audiences of those other nations it is broadcasted in? *Would the dubbing of the show come at the cost of the NBC network that produces the show or would this be the responsibility and be funded by the network in the other nation that the show is being broadcasted in?
Thanks if you can give me some incite.
( Also, I speak english, I'm in america, and I am not looking for links to free episodes online. I'm just wondering about subtitles: why some shows don't have them when aired in another nation and if it is the choice of the original network of the show or of the nation that show is being aired in to place subtitles? )
