Voting Question: What is this sales technique called?
You are given a promotional offer to get an item for free, or at a drastically low low rate. As you continue the process of obtaining the item, such as a "Continue to the next page" button on a website, you are asked to enter your personal information (Name, address, email, perhaps even payment information) in order to obtain this FREE (or discounted) item.
Over the process of continuing on step after step, you find that you are actually paying equivalent or more than the market price, or else you are obligated to sign up for additional promotional offers by other business partners.
Since you are making small commitments gradually over the process of signing up, the overall larger commitment to buy seems to you as such an easy decision that you do not think about it but continue on to take part in the offer/program. Commitment has essentially become a habit.
Does this sales technique have a name, and if so what is it?I would like to add that this sales technique is described in chapter seven of "The Power of Persuasion" by Robert Levine. It is referred to as "Gradually Escalating the Commitments" or "Making you say Yes by Never Saying No." I was hoping that someone had a better term for it.
I do not believe this is a bait and switch technique because b&s is an illegal scam where the product sold is different than the product delivered to the customer.
moreResolved Question: Where to find video game display posters and boxes and standees?
Hi, I have an unusual question to ask. I'm highly interested in the collecting of promotional video game displays(an over sized box display, a poster, cardboard stand ups, or a sculpture) etc. I tried going to video games stores like eb games or gamestop, but they will not save them and they just throw them away. Rather than degrade myself to ask when the boxes get tossed in the garbage, i thought there must be a place that sells these. So i turn to the internet and ask, where can i find such items for sale?

Promotion
How will you get the word out to customers?
Advertising: What media, why, and how often? Why this mix and not some other?
Have you identified low-cost methods to get the most out of your promotional budget?
Will you use methods other than paid advertising, such as trade shows, catalogs, dealer incentives, word of mouth (how will you stimulate it?), and network of friends or professionals?
Should you have a system to identify repeat customers and then systematically contact them?
How much will you spend on the items listed above? Where will this money come from?
Image
What image do you want to project? How do you want customers to see you?
What plans do you have for graphic image support? This includes things like logo design, cards and letterhead, brochures, signage, and interior design (if customers come to your place of business).
Pricing
Explain your method or methods of setting prices.
Compare your prices with those of the competition. Are they higher, lower, the same? Why?
For most small businesses, having the lowest price might take away from profit margin; large competitors can under price you anyway.
Will you have average prices and compete on quality and service?
Does your pricing strategy fit with what was revealed in your competitive analysis?
How important is price as a competitive factor? Do your intended customers really make their purchase decisions mostly on price?
Proposed Location
Is your location important to your customers? If yes, how?
If customers come to your place of business:
Is it convenient? Parking? Interior spaces? Not out of the way?
Is it consistent with your image?
Is it what customers want and expect?
Where is the competition located? Is it better for you to be near them (like car dealers or fast food restaurants) or distant (like convenience food stores)?
What qualities do you need in a location? Describe the type of location you’ll have.
Physical requirements:
• Amount of space
• Type of building
• Zoning
• Power and other utilities
Access:
Is it important that your location be convenient to transportation or to suppliers?
Do you need easy walk-in access?
What are your requirements for parking and proximity to freeway, airports, railroads, and shipping centers?
Include a drawing or layout of your proposed facility if it is important, as it might be for a manufacturer.
Construction? Most new companies should not sink capital into construction, but if you are planning to build, costs and specifications will be a big part of your plan.
Cost: Estimate your occupation expenses, including rent, but also including maintenance, utilities, insurance, and initial remodeling costs to make the space suit your needs.
What will be your business hours?
Distribution Channels
How do you sell your products or services?
• Retail
• Direct (mail order, Web, catalog)
• Wholesale
• Your own sales force
• Agents
• Independent representatives
• Bid on contracts

I bought a couple small bags of dog food at Pet Valu the other day but when I got home I realised that the bags were labeled 'Free Sample'. Nor can they sell products at a higher price if the manufacturer specifically labeled it as a certain price. ei. books at bookstores. moreResolved Question: Retail law in North America - Is there a price guarentee on sale items?
Is there legislation in North America (USA and Canada) for a 30 day price guarantee, that guarantees a purchaser if there is a price change
of their product then the customer who have purchased their product
within last 30 days becomes entitled to the lower price. (this applies
also to "special sales"or "promotional sales"
products or services. Thanks, for the life of me I can't tell if this is the way to respond, however this is helpful, someone is arguing with my company that there is such legislation and wanting a partial refund on items purchased. How would people make money with such legislation! No one would have sales, lol

real leads to? I mean there are hundreds of ideas for promotional items, but can any of you trace any leads/sales to such promotional items? I mentioned it before, but let me stress, I understand the value of brand recognition, which is most likely the main goal with promo items, but we are looking to branch out from our normal guaranteed campaigns and want to find something with a high return rate to start doing regularly.

I am currently a distributor of Advertising/Promotional Advertising Items. If you have basic skills in computer artwork, you'll find it quite easy. Best part is you can work your own hours. Honestly it is hard work, doing sales, prepping artwork, submtting orders. But that's it... you submit the order and the factory takes it from there. You make a commission off everything you sell. This is not some dumb scam. This is a real business, with real work, gaining real experience, making a better money for yourself. I'll tell you up front, you probably will NOT get rich! Anyway if you enjoy working with company logos and challanges in the advertising field let me know I'll help you get started, it is easy and under 100.00 (one time fee) this covers all your sales materials and LOTS of sample products.

How dare you!!!!!!!! How dare you put a Mexican Promotional photo on the cover of the Memorial Day Ad. With Mexican Flags and All!!
Nice insult to all those men and women who died defending this country. Do you realize America made your company what it is today?
Let me tell you what! I was in your store on May 1 along with many other hard working Americans buying goods so our economy wouldn't feel the pinch of the invaders. You better go look at your sales for that day and I will tell you right now, you insulted every one of those customers. They saved large purchase just for May 1. I saw people buying buggies full of stuff, T.V.s, electronics…and other high ticket items. This is how you thank the USA? You know what! You can keep your Mexican Spanish Speaking customers. You owe me, a proud American, by crawling on your belly begging for mercy and forgiveness via public apology. Not to mention what you owe my US Vets and Service Men and Women.
You can take those Spanish broadcasts off the screens, in your stores too, which you recently added! Also, you added Spanish to the entire sales ad!
This is AMERICA and
WE THE PEOPLE SPEAK ENGLISH!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm asking everyone to complain!
