Resolved Question: I was suspended from work in the state of CA - now they told me they accept my resignation? WHAT? THEY FIREDME?

My manager sent me a suspension letter 4 days ago: I havediscussed your situation with Julie and we have decided to suspend your employment here immediately. We will di scuss your potential future employment this week and will contact you on Friday September 11, 2009. You are not to represent your self as an employee of our company. You are not allowed to contact any our SDCNG’s clients, customers, potential customers, past customers. You are not to represent yourself as an employee until your future status is determined. Your email and phone passwords have been changed, please do not utilize any system to try and retrieve your company messages or emails. You will not be able to be contacted through the SDCNG telecommunications until Friday 9-11-09 at the earliest. I will be calling you to leave you a voice mail on your mobile phone. I will be sending you a text message to your mobile phone. You will be paid during your suspension, your benefits are also active until Friday 9-11-09. If you have any questions, please call me or Julie. 3 days later on Friday this is the email I received from them again: > We have decided to accept your resignation. > > When you said to Julie and I that you did not want to work here during our > meeting on Tuesday 9-8-09, we thought a suspension with pay would afford us > an opportunity to think through this situation. Julie and I agree that it > would be best if you were no longer employed as an Account Executive for The > San Diego Community Newspaper Group. > > We are assuming you will cooperate in returning all hard copy and > electronic files that would be considered property of SDCNG. This property > includes all: > > - Word documents > - Spreadsheets > - Proposals > - Promotional Flyers > - Contacts > - any other material on your personal computer that are related to > SDCNG business. > > > Since you used your personal computer for company business, please either > email the files or put them on a disc. Please let me know what day and > time you would like to pick up your personal items from your work space and > we can accept the items that belong to the company. > > As my earlier email stated, your salary will be paid through Friday > 9-11-09. We will also be paying commission on sales for the issue of > 9-17-09. Payments received for your ad sales will be paid commission to you > per SDCNG policies for the next 30 days. > > You will also be receiving a hard copy of this letter in the mail. > > We will be mailing you your check for the week of 9-7-09. > > Please acknowledge receipt of this email. This was my response: I did not resign. In my most recent email to John, dated, September 8th 2009 at 2:18 p.m. I did state the following: "I am not going to quit here anytime soon. If you are interested in firing me than that is your prerogative. After discussing it with Julie, it is not what either of us want. " My email to John was followed by a "suspension letter" received on Tuesday, September 8th 2009 at 5:13 p.m. Today, September 11, 2009 I did receive the termination notice at 1:40 p.m. I understand SDCNG is terminating me effective September 11, 2009. On an emotional level, it is really hard to fathom as a pregnant woman. When is the best time for my fiance and I to come by and pick up my commodities. including Also, California state law states, the employer must pay entire compensation (not commission) day of dismissal. My question is, how can you suspend someone and then turn around and say we accept your resignation 3 days later when I never resigned; i was terminated and they will not admit this. Resolved Question: I need specific ideas for promotional sales events for a rubber stamp store.?

We have a 3000 sf store space as well as access and some parking lot area if needed for outdoors. We border a major shopping mall. Recently a store nearby did a "bingo card" which I love the idea but don't want to copy. (you had to fill each spot on the card with $20. purchase of an item, come to a class, etc.) I need something like that bingo card idea but different. more
