Hello all. I have a Licensed Childcare Home and in spite of all the advertising I've been doing over the past 3 weeks I still have one more opening on first shift. I'm trying to think of unique ways to advertise.. passing out business cards, flyers, ads in the newspaper, craigslist, ads on facebook have worked in the past..but not so much right now. I have spent $300 in the past 3 weeks on advertising and i'm almost broke! it's frustrating..feels like i'm just handing out $100 bills to people. There is a large piece of land about 5 miles from my house. The owner rents it out Saturday mornings to anyone who wants to have a yard sale there. Saturday mornings there are lots of families selling their stuff and lots of people shopping. I thought I'd rent a space there..set up a table..and give out for free..gift bags of candy, soda, water, coloring books, crayons, apples, and oranges. In all the gift bags would be my business card and I'd stamp my logo inside the coloring books. Everything would be given for free. And I'd make a poster to hang up and tie some balloons to my table. I'm 18. I have never babysat kids on a regular basis but I have babysat loads of time before- mostly for free and I am really good with kids. I know basic first aid and I am looking into CPR classes. I run a educational theatre company and our first camp is coming up in three weeks. The problem is, we don't have anywhere near enough kids signed up for the camp! Here's what we already do: We send home flyers with kids through all the schools that will let us (which actually isn't that many, most tell us no) We are listed online in every place possible: our website, summer camp listings, classifieds, community calendars, so on We also pay for PPC ads on Google, Facebook, and Bing I've tried to find businesses to put up flyers, but there's not that many places I've been able to find with a community bulletin board (Whole foods, and a couple book stores is all I found). Signing with this company, I have become very skeptical. My father was approached by two guys at my home to sign up for FREE security as long as we stick a sign in our yard for their own advertisement. Well, we didn't want to rush into anything so we told them we would think about it but they pretty much said that it's now or never because they were only giving this deal to a five people. The main representative's name is Chris W. They said it was free because we, the consumer, are doing them a favor by advertising but when they came in to sign the contract and go over everything, they showed us the activation fee and the monthly fee that goes to pay for the 24-hour monitoring, which he said pays the firefighters, police and medical response through the system. This is when I started becoming skeptical, what with the way they approached with a free system, then said there was "only" an activation fee AND a monthly fee that they say is for the emergency response. Anyway, my dad doesn't know much english so he asked me, a 16 year old who was born in America, to translate for him. So we go through the contract, discuss, explain and translate everything. Chris lowers the activation fee from $199.00 to $99.00 and the 24-hour monitoring fee from $44.99 to $39.99. And before my dad signed this agreement, this contract, I ask Chris if we can cancel it and how much it would cost to cancel it. He said he wasn't sure and it was PROBABLY from $50.00-$100.00. Then he continued that if we did want to cancel it, there was a "Notice of Cancellation" at the bottom of the "Alarm Monitoring Agreement" sheet, that states, "Customer may CANCEL this transaction, without any penalty or obligation within THREE BUSINESS DAYS from Effective Date." So after he tells us this I ask Chris if I can cancel it AFTER the three days and he said that he imagined we could for maybe about $50.00-$100.00 fee. It's been nearly a month. We called them recently to cancel the agreement and Nationwide Security Solutions said can't because we are on a 36 month contract. The only way is to pay 36-months worth which is obsurd because we might as well be using it. Is there no wiggle room to cancel/dispute the agreement because of false information presented by the representative?Yeah, that is what I thought. It was worth asking for a second opinion though. It states that on the contract in "service fees & terms of agreement." I will make that a rule for myself now. I shouldn't have doubted my judgement on the warning signs. 1. Completely "FREE" Service 2. The "ONLY" fees. 3. Rep did not respond to my phone call when he had JUST left. Also did not call back. When I asked the technician, the tech called the rep, THEN I was able to ask him about concerns before installation. 4. Lastly, the rep's and tech's stories did not line up. Rep called him and said he was "just around the corner" installing another system, when the tech said he came all the way from another city and his last installation was about 8 hours ago. What a scam. I feel foolish for not stopping at these flashing bright red warning signs. I've learned my lesson and I hope this enlightens the rest of you. The cabin is about two miles from the nearest home and at night is not noticeable from the main road unless your looking for it. I have no conscience objections, because I have a few BAC calculators and attendants would be handing over their keys at entry, getting them back when and only when their safe to drive. After looking at overhead (Cost of expenses for alcohol, dishes, heat/AC, and electricity) my projection is I can easily make 500 dollars tax free cash profit PER NIGHT. And that’s a conservative estimate. Sparing me lectures, could I get away with this? Again, think of this as an exclusive club. Atendents are able to come via direct word of mouth invitation from me ONLY, so no he said, she said, mama said about it. If I didn't invite you, you get to meet the exit door. Ergo, if some wrong person does hear about this occuring, they won't know the when, where and who. And, last but not least, if I'm caught, I can make a deal with the DA. Everyone knows most coffee shops have free wifi... mcdonalds is trying to put every coffee shop out of business replaced by 'mcafe'; mcdonald's "espreso" coffees, etc. They recently made a move installing wifi at mcdonalds. Sounds very convienenet, and in truth this would be a great step for "Combating" the poor local coffee shops in rural communities, small towns, etc. But the very strang move was making this wifi connection not only available for PURCHASE (which ISN'T advertised) they made it a hell of a pain to use. Behind a terribly slow proxy, and difficult to connnect, login, and surf, not to mention there are no power outlets available for people to use at mcdonalds. I had to drive my grandmother for a 6 hour surgery about 100 miles away from home. Not knowing what the hell to do for 6 hours i of course brought my guitar and laptop and figured it would be a great oppurtunity to busk and spend some time surfing the web or playing online games at a mcdonalds.... well... with only about an hour remaining on 50% battery... doesn't look like that's going to happen... If any major suit from mcdonalds happens to read this, if they do some kind of customer satisfaction research... WHAT THE EFF??? I had a difficult enough time cyphering through secured connections to find out your wifi name is "wayport" (the company that they use to CHARGE people for internet usage) now my battery is dying, and the internet is SLOW AS HELL because of your dammed proxy! So...I can't believe that I fell in this trap but I did...so just to warn others. There are more posts related to this on Yahoo answers, but a little older...so I thought I would refresh the info. There are a lot of internet money making scams out there, but these people get better and better. They advertise on what it seems like legit websites, they say they will only charge you $1 for shipping fees and they put Google in their name to make it more credible. Anyway, after one pays the $1 then you can see if you look carefully on the bottom of the page, with very small letters, that they will charge you a membership fee of ~79 monthly. They never say anything about this before you pay. Below I pasted the e-mail confirmation I got from them...and it says something about a membership fee now, but still not how much it is. People apparently got charged the amount after 7 days without even knowing why. Anyway...right after I signed up for it I called the 1-800- number listed below and they cancelled my account. But still I'm worried about my credit card...I'll have to watch it carefully! So...be careful out there...all these internet money making websites are scam! Hi! I listen to talk radio all the day long, and I want to caution people against the Income From Home commercials. I won't name the company directly, BUT....it is secretly a company that has a name that starts with the letter H and has the word "life" in it's name. It is a rip-off. They tell half truths all along the enrollment process to get you on board, with the biggest half truth being an out and out lie. They will tell you over and over again that you don't have to sell any products. Then they reveal in a crafty manner...."Oh, we meant that the products sell themselves, so you don't have to be a salesman. These products are so good that people will buy them fast". Then the reality is that you have to make 50 calls just to get one sucker to agree to either buy a product or accept a "free" into dvd from you, with them paying the postage. They also promise you that they will help you make your sales calls (but they are careful not to use the word "sale" or "sales" and they tell you not to use that word, e.g, lie like all-get-out), but when you try to get them to listen in on a call to a prospective customer, they all tell you that they are too busy to run your business for you. Getting refunds on products is very hard. This is a cheap company that doesn't even have a toll-free number and all of their DVD's have a grainy, 1990's look to them. Do not fall for "Income From Home" on talk radio shows. And shame on these talk show hosts for letting this rip off company advertise. Has anybody else had this experience? more

The cost of an illness may exceed the combined cost of a buying a home and raising a family of university graduates. 2. Garages stay in business by making good decisions and providing good service. Health care providers stay in business (retain their medical license) by conforming to industry standards. The health care industry (as opposed to the health care INSURANCE industry) does not want customers. They do not have to attract customers. There is no point in advertising for customers. The doctor regrets that the patient needs his help. The patient regrets being a patient. 3. Auto repair is based upon commodities: widely available parts, repair manuals, tools, and mechanics. I need some good tips for direct selling.? Hi, I started selling AVON as a second job about four days ago. I have been passing out most of the books that were given to me by my leader ( she gave me over 50 to start with and I only have eight left, other than the one I have kept for myself. ) and I only got one order so far for over $20. I'm bummed because half of the books went to people who are friends or know me through my fiance'-yet I'm not getting more orders yet. I work with a small group and only two co-worker's are female, and one of them has a daughter who sells AVON, so, so much for that. I only have a few close girlfriends, maybe four who will buy sooner or later, but one recently had an emergency with their home being badly damaged, (floors and roof) and another just had a family member go into surgery for something serious the other day, and another is a single mom but loves AVON but probably can't afford much. Yeah.....talking about beginners luck....NOT! I can't ask, and won't try to sell to my friends during rough times, at least not until their circumstances change for the better. Ok, so I need some serious tips to sell to strangers or people I come in contact with regularly - at places of business, but yet I don't know them well, other than chatting with them briefly, here and there. My DSM who signed me up has been an AVON rep for 32 years and it's her full time career and has been for years, and I will talk with her more at a meeting she invited me to this week. I have been in sales since high school. I sold cars and quit so that I could go to college, and then I went into selling advertising - which has worked out well for me, so why such a slow start with AVON? I would think that it would be fairly easy to sell, considering many of the items are affordable and are in the same price range as products at Target, Walmart, Penney's, etc; not to mention I love certain AVON products myself, particularly the SSS, bubble bath, hand creams, and lipstick. AND.... the point is - is you're helping out the little guy, not just a big corporation.... you're helping out the student, the single mom, the teacher who needs a little extra income.......well, you get the picture. I have not set my goals too high, because I just wanted to make a few hundred dollars extra per month, and if I can make more, GREAT! I realize I didn't start out with alot of brochures, and I will have to order plenty of them with some samples to increase my business, but I think the main thing I am looking for is tips to increase sales with people I've just met or haven't met. I have left some brochures at businesses, and obviously you cant' just rely on family, that's silly. What about going to a new nail salon that just opened and offering them free advertising by exposing their business on my flyers, which I would be paying for anyway - in exchange for referrals and letting me leave brochures and business cards there? Resolved Question: Wedding Dress Website?

What's the best free way to advertise my business? I get wedding dresses made for people, custom made and we either copy a picture they send us or help them design something. Its just a small home run business but the quality is flawless. i just don't know how to get the name out there without spending more than i have as i'm planning my own wedding at the same time. more
