I'm trying to find the right way to set up my own photo-gallery through which I could sell my photos (either in digital form, and/or as art prints). Could you recommend a website, that is an online service where I sign up/pay, set up gallery/upload photos, advertise and sell... ? The theme is mostly landscape/nature photography, some urban themes and some abstract art. I need some recommendations from you guys. So, if you can, please copy and paste my college list and next to each one write if you think it's a MEET school for me (good fit as far as admissions), a REACH school for me (will take work), or a SAFETY school (easy in) for me. I have a general idea of which schools might be what, but I'm not sure and would like other opinions. I recently purchased a new HP laptop and installed starcraft 2 and was disspaointed to discover I can't seem to handle any graphic setting except low. Resolved Question: Connect Xbox 360 to PC Tower?

Hi, I've asked a similar question before about connecting an Xbox 360 slim (yes it has been advertised as slim in Australia if snobby people are wondering) to my computer monitor with just a digital input and analog input. I have been looking around and I found a HDMI cable slot in the back of my tower. If I plugged the Xbox to the tower with the HDMI plug will it work properly as in play/ show an image on my screen which is connected through another slot by a DVI cable? Also my speakers only have a plug for putting headphones in so where would I plug the sound cables into so I can get sound through them? (I think HDMI cables are sound too, am I right?) Any more questions just ask and thanks for any suggestions/ solutions.My monitor only has one plug wich is a digital one. Bummer. more

Resolved Question: How much to charge for use of photos?

An advertising organization has indicated that they would like to use my photos in an ad campaign for one of their biggest clients. Since I am not a professional photographer and have never sold or rented any of my photos to anyone, I don't know what to charge them. The photo images were not digital initially but I had them scanned on CDs recently in low res. It would cost me quite a lot to have them scanned into high resolution. I don't want to lose the copyright on these photos as I always planned to make a book with them. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. more

Hello,.... I am seriously considering becoming a real estate agent. I have wanted to be a realtor and own a real estate investment company since I was 12. But I have a couple of basic questions I would love to have an answer too. You have to be 18 to get your license right? But can I start studying for it before then? (I am 17, 18 in March) How long does it take? Is it like a year long process or a couple months, weeks, what? Where is a good online place to take these courses? The BIG question is that I live in Iowa right now, but I really want to be in California doing real estate (and don't say "oh, you really should do it in Iowa, a place where you're familiar" because I will never stay in Iowa. haha) I know its hard to build a customer base but I don't have any other option. So back to the question at hand, can I live in Iowa and get my license and then move to California a little later on? (for example, get the license in the Spring and move late Summer early fall) or do I have to live in Cali for this whole process? Do you have any suggestions on what I should take for college courses? Right now for the fall semester I am taking Selling, Principals of Advertising, Principals or Marketing, and Digital Photography. I'm hoping to start doing some digital photo restoration freelancing and I've been working on some sample work. I want to take a few really old, cracked, stained, torn and in generally bad shape photos to restore to show what I can do. Unfortunately I'm having some trouble locating said photos. It would seem requiring you to use your private vehicle to advertise products or services you find offensive would equate to "big brother" going too far. Would there be a big brother GPS connection to your car to flash Amber alerts and advertisement changes? It would seem there would be power consumption off of the car's battery when not running, what issues could that cause? The license plate number has to be visible all the time. Would intentionally killing the power to the plate make it blank to assist criminals? Removing power could be done easily enough. Has anyone ever tried to read a plate number in a spit second, in order to assist law enforcement? Not too easy getting it right, and just how much more difficult will it be to catch that plate number when advertising is also there? It would seem that most everyone views their vehicle as a personal extension of themselves. Has California finally slipped over the edge? Resolved Question: How can I get a digital copy of my movie?

Today, I purchased the Blu-Ray of "Seven Pounds." It had a digital copy with it, on a separate disc. It contained a slip of paper, with a redeemable code on it. I put the digital copy disc into my Mac and opened up iTunes. It came up with the screen to enter a code. I entered my code, correctly, might I add, and it said that the time to redeem this code has expired. I was promised a digital copy with my purchase, as it was advertised on the front of the cover. The movie was sitting on the shelf in the store for months, and it expired. I'm rather disappointed that I am unable to get it, due to that fact. If it had been sitting on my own, personal shelf, neglected, and had expired, I could completely understand. But this is ridiculous. I feel this was almost a "false-advertisement." I apply what I learn each and every day to the future that is ahead of me, I earn what I want in my life by working as hard as I possibly can on a daily basis, and I yearn to succeed greatly in my lifetime. Growing up as an only child, I have learned to take responsibility for myself early on. I did not have that older sibling to look up to. I had to create my own path, and be successful on my own. To receive this scholarship, I believe you must be balanced, motivated to get yourself on your way to being successful in the future, and have the ability to leave room for improvement. These traits define who I currently am, and who I would like to be when I graduate from college. Planning to graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Graphic Design in four years, I see myself working for a company who needs someone like me to create a logo, maintain a business website, and advertise what they are all about. To do reach my goal, my intention is to manage my time in school to fully understand what I am studying, get involved with other art students to discover even more of my talent, and possibly intern with a company to get used to working hands-on with potential clients. Earlier this year, I received a January Student of the Month award in my Whiteside Area Career Center classes for Digital Media Arts for getting a GPA of 4.0. Later on, I was put on the Dean’s List for my Whiteside classes as well during my senior year of high school for Sauk Valley Community College. Then, in May of this year, my dream of getting an art award finally came true. I was given the Principal’s Award for my art panel in our school’s art show. I could not have achieved what I was awarded without my strong perseverance towards my career. Getting a degree in Graphic Design has been my personal goal since my sophomore year in high school when I finally decided what I wanted to do with my life, and knowing that I am getting awards for something that I love to do is the best feeling I could ever experience. Education to me is extremely important especially through the times we are all going through. It will enable so many more doors to be opened once I graduate from college. Most of our knowledge is acquired from on-the-job experience, but college is the true foundation, and without that education, my job would not be within reach. I noticed the content of the advertising here has changed in the last 15-20 years, and I am curious if this is because younger people don't listen to the radio as much anymore. Resolved Question: How do I get clear digital photos?

I bought the new Sony 14 m Cyber-shot. The advertising says Everything I want to hear.. The problem is, it's not quite true. The pictures from this $200 camera are no better that a 9 or 10 year old 7.2 m Cyber-shot. They are still blurry. I returned the camera. While I was returning it, a person that overheard the conversation, volunteered some information. She said that she had had similar problems with blurring and was told by a 'Techie', "some of the new cameras are so fast that they require a Huge memory card to get non-blurry pictures or at least better pictures". I had a 2G card in the camera. Some feed back on this 'huge memory card' theory please. Sony was little or no help. more

I want to quit cable TV (brighthouse) but keep the RoadRunner internet. I have an analog TV but do NOT have a DTV convertor box (coupon not available now). I want the following: 1) DTV (so I know I need a convertor box) 2) DVR 3) I want to join Netflix and watch movies, TV from the internet on my TV (I am inclined to buy the ROKU digital video player) 4) I would prefer it if I could get all of the above in one piece of hardware BUT that is not essential I do NOT want to have to sign-up for any other subscription other than Netflix. So I do not want to replace my cable Tv with satellite and I do not want a TiVo service. Nor do I want to buy a new DTV TV. Voting Question: what do you think about art majors and art school in general? is it lame?

There are actually very few people out there who can "draw" and devote there lives to art. Art is actually in the business of communication, and you seem to be in the mindset that "art is for art's sake" Lets start off with drawing. Drawing is the absolute foundation of art, and your sketchbook is much more than a bunch of pretty pictures; it's a collection of thoughts, ideas, drafts, observations, moments, etc. Film is art, too btw, so have fun in your world without any videos, tv, or movies whatsoever. When you shoot a movie, a director most likely graduated from art school or hires artists to plan the movie. Here's where the sketchbook comes in. Do you think movies are born from nothing, but a script? There are storyboards and plus you don't just learn art techniques in art school, you learn how to think and grow with your own ideas. They story and script come from a concept and that concept is what you have to defend for in the art world. Moving on to things I'm more familiar about. Animation is a hybrid between all art forms. There's drawing in hand-drawn animations and in Flash animations. Claymations, and stop-motions are pretty self-explanatory. Here you say "with the computer nowadays you know. no body really needs you to draw anything precisely". That's bull. There's no computer that draws things out for you! Did you see Avatar? That was a movie ten years in the making almost entirely by human hands at computers. Granted, there were actors, but there images were overlaid and CGed as a base. Animation is Is the crossroads between tradition art and digital media and all your cartoons, advertisements, informercials, hell even sports games have animations on them. You know hen you see the scoreboard appear out of nowhere and then when you see reviews and stats on your favorite players? That's animation. Graphic Design is something you'd probably wouldn't be able to live without unless you decided to camp ut in the middle of nowhere. Nearly all advertising on billboards, online, on tv,on everything you own, Coke cans; that is all Graphic Design. Hell, Gaia wouldn't exist without Graphic Design. OK so here is the deal: I need help trying to find some sort of job or internship related to commercial photography. More specifically product photography, advertising, marketing, digital photography, web site photography etc. I have 3 years experience. I worked with an event photographer doing retouching and for about 2 1/2 years I did web site photography for a wholesale handbag company. And recently I have been working with another wholesale company that works with apparel, but instead of working right there at their facility, I am doing it as a freelance type of job. I'm majoring in marketing right now, but I'm not sure that I'm being specific enough with the types of courses I'm taking. Essentially, I want to continue doing free lance, but I'm not sure how to start it, or continue for that matter. I'm not too sure where to look or start looking. I would continue doing photography for the wholesalers in my area, but honestly, they don't like to pay past a certain amount, but they want expressive quality since they usually need images for their web sites. If anyone knows any sites where i can search for some jobs, internships, or agents related to this topic please let me know. Hey guys I've had this custom built computer for about a little over a year now. It has a Intel Quad Core i7 CPU 920@2.67GHz, and 4gb ram( well in reality 3.23gb) My problem is that my comp has piled on some slowness, and it is very frustrating. I have a 1TB hard drive that is partitioned into two different drives, C: at 200gb and D: at 700gb. I am a digital graphics artist and I use A LOT of space with my files and I use drive D: for strictly that purpose, and I have used 40% the of space so far. My main problem is that I am scared something is wrong with my pc because in less than 7 hours I have seen FOUR blue screens of death. This frightens me that I might lose my work stored on the D: drive. Also in the past month I have noticed significant slow downs with my computer programs, particularly with Mozilla Firefox 3.6, which is showing a lot of stalling. the stalls occur usually when I click links or open new tabs, the whole program freezing for a few seconds. I currently have avast! antivirus and it hasn't quite helped to much. I don't have many programs installed on my comp. Please, if you could let me know if I am in trouble or if this is natural for a maturing PC.
