Resolved Question: Martial Arts Training In China... PLEASE HELP I'm suck!?
I am very interested in finding a place in China to study either a style of Kung Fu or Tai Chi. I want to be able to live at this place and have my training be my life. I have found some that are well advertised on the internet and keep popping up but they all seem to be on the more commercial side. I am planning to take a year + off from school to dedicate to my training. I want it to be hard serious work (ideally in a more traditional manner). Any help would be MUCH appreciated and please leave links +/- names if you have them. ALSO! I wouldn’t mind a tiny hole in the wall place some of you may know about or a master who teaches out of his house. Anything real! Thank you ALL! long story short, my other half ordered a pair of shoes through a website. it was in £, website had UK in it. only when the order confirmation came did we see it was charged in $ and the company was from china. when the shoes arrived we found they sent us the wrong shoes and not what we ordered. after 3 weeks of back and forth with them, they said they won't refund the money and won't give us their address to return the shoes, even though they advertise a 14 day money back guarantee. on top of that, the shoes are fake and not what they say they are. so we got in touch with the billing company who eventually saw that this was pointless and the money was refunded by them. the seller then promptly contacted us with his address saying we need to send the shoes back. but shipping is £10 to china for this and we already have been charged 2 foreign currency fees by the credit card company, so we are already £6 out of pocket. the china people don't want to pay for the postage even though it was their mistake and are saying that we have 2 days to return the shoes or they will take other steps. now i have never been in this situation before which is why i am here, hoping someone will be able to advise me on what i can do here or if they can actually cause me any trouble with this? thanks in advance guys and girls. any help would be appreciated.and to those of you who say 'that is what you get when you order from china' should read the question again. the company was posing as a UK company. Hi, I have traselated this letter to English. I am really appreciate if someone could check this for me. Dec.15 is my deadline and I cannot find any native speaker around me. By the way, I think I am good at Chinese and Japanese. I would like to help anyone with Chinese and Japanese problem. With great pleasure and enthusiasm that I recommend to you Miss. X, an excellent student, who had worked under my immediate supervision for nearly three years, to your graduate program. During these 3 years, she put a lot of energy on academic research and set on online advertising, consumer behavior and Product placement advertising(PPL) as her research field. She also worked very well as my assistant and really helped me a lot in my projects, especially in Shizuoka Tourist Administration China Marketing plan, Media preferring of High Net Worth Chinese research projects. Miss X has a unique perspective towards her research. As a result, two of her papers about PPL and new media won National level Award. I would like to mention one of her papers about PPL in dubbed and subtitled movies to explain her research ability. Although the data of the research seemed show nothing special, Miss X analyzed the data again and again using different methods. Finally, she innovatively pointed out that the subtitle did an effect on memory to product, and when a product placed in a international movie dubbed and subtitled factor should be considerate. She said she would continue research in this area and put more energy into the game advertising. I believe that she has already prepared for her doctoral program. Next I would like to talk about her performance in projects to demonstrate her strong execution and problems solving abilities. In 2008, I involved her in my Shizuoka Tourist Administration China Marketing plan project. In this project, the target is High Net Worth Chinese, which is a new concept so the information of it was very limited. It was Miss X to make an effort on solving this problem. She contacted her friends worked in the advertising agency in China to collect useful data. And she had leaded other team members to design a questionnaire, send out questionnaires in proper internet media to collect first-hand information. Within a few months, they obtained valuable information to help the project complete successfully.Could you correct the unnatrue parts or sentences or words for me?Thanks! moreResolved Question: Why does Verizon DSL suck so bad?
I have Verizon DSL and I have constant trouble with it. The connection is so fragile that someone in china could fart and my internet would go down. And I never hear anything good about Verizon in any of the services they offer. Why do they suck so much? I just don't get it. How can a huge company with so many customers, a company that advertises such good service in their commercials have such horrible dsl. It's a nightmare and sadly they are the only highspeed ISP in my area.Btw this was part rant part serious question.I live in Western Virginia *not West Virginia*. In a small country town, outside of town lol, so yeah I'm fairly isolated. And no the the router is fine, they've come to check it several times. moreResolved Question: Has the Internet become just an extension of the mainstream media in the USA?
Are you really buying into the idea that there is free expression or some kind of "world community" on the internet? With internet advertising being dependent on click-ratio based ratings, won't things like "American Idol" continue to dominate? Why are there no good translators that allow us to visit Chinese, Iranian and Icelandic websites? Why do even the best forums (like Yahoo Answers) still use shady tactics to systematically delete unpopular opinions? How can the internet be honest when the largest search engines (Google etc.) have to abide by the censorship laws of China and remove content that their government dislikes? moreResolved Question: How can i contact potential buyers without being labeled as spammer or cold-emailer?
I am currently working in China as marketing assistant in a fashion jewelry company..Though we have clients already,we want to reach out to wider markets. Can i email them directly through their websites?I am new to internet marketing because in my previous job,we always do advertising and customers come to us..Need advice moreResolved Question: Is this a good argumentative speech?
I wrote this in about 7 hours and I need to know if this is a good speech or if there is anything I should change or fix. The Subject is Censorship, and I am arguing against censorship. So Please give me your honest opinion. (Sorry for my messy grammer/spelling it's 2:39.) Censorship effects us all, be it through race, religion, government party or income. Everyone in this room will be effected by censorship one way or another. There are so many types of censorship: Moral, Military, Religious, Political, Corporate and Creative just to name a few. Corporate Censorship is when media outlets intervene to stop the publishing of information that may depict their business or business associates in an adverse light. Privately owned corporations that report news also can refuse to share information that may cause loss of advertiser revenue or shareholder value which negative publicity may bring. The Telecommunications Act is a law that Canadian telecommunications common carriers like Telus, Bell Canada and Verizon are regulated. The Telecommunications act at the time was not favored by the media. Records show that there were only 12 major news stories about the Telecommunications act and a total of 19.5 minutes of air time accumulated over those stories. Much of the coverage of the new act was centered around the television content ratings and the V-chip while the considerable changes to the ownership rules of the media were almost completely ignored. Only bits and pieces of the opinions that the Critics of the legislations had were shown on air, because the legislations directly profited the media. Newspapers can actually refuse to run commentary they don’t agree with as well. Black Press owns over 95 newspapers in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and other places outside of Canada. If the owner of these newspapers disagreed with new laws that were passed that could change lives, they could not print it. That is complete corporate censorship. Religious Censorship has been an issue that has been occurring as far back as you can flip any text book. Far back in ancient times Sorcery books worth 50,000 silver were burnt by Paul’s converts at Ephesus. They have tried to completely eliminate an entire religion all together with the Holocaust! The Da Vinci Code was attacked by various religious groups, saying that Dan Brown was a Satanist and was going to hell. The movie was even banned in Samoa. Everyone knows who Harry Potter is, the FICTIONAL orphan boy that learns he is a wizard and goes to a school for wizards. Religious groups want to ban these books from being sold, and these movies from being seen. Some Catholic followers believe that Harry Potter glamorizes Wicca, a religion involving the thought that magic can be created by “Manipulating through the form of Witchcraft or Sorcery”, but at no time is the religion advertised during the books nor movies. If this is not evidence that censorship is occurring more than anyone would have thought, take a look at China. Though blocks to certain websites may not apply to different cities, and they have been lifted for certain occasions, they are still BLOCKING websites. Their most recent major website was access to The New York Times which was blocked on December 20, 2008. Most foreign websites are still available for mainland China, but a few websites such as the Chinese-language service of BBC continue to be blocked and unblocked. Regardless of the small number of blocked sites, the mere fact that the government is starting to block off sites that have no reason to disappear is enough to raise suspicion. The Golden Shield project ( Also referred too as The Great Firewall Of China ) was created and is owned by the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China. It was created in 1998 and was actually used In the beginning of 2003. The Golden Shield Project’s job is to block Content on the internet. It does this by stopping IP addresses from being routed through and is made up of standard firewalls and proxy servers at the Internet gateways. The system also selectively engages in DNS poisoning when particular sites are requested. The government does not appear to be methodically examining Internet content, because it is technically impractical. The Censored Content includes but is not limited too: *Websites that are about or are related to the Falun Gong spiritual practice, which is not only internet censorship but religious as well. *News Sources that cover topics such as: Police Brutality, Freedom of Speech or Democracy *The Chinese Wikipedia which has been recently unblocked *Any major Newspaper and television media that contain information on the Taiwanese Independence. *Sites that are linked with the Dalai Lama and his involvement with the International Tibet Independence Movement If you think that China’s internet problems could never get to Canada, Think again. Mail-order bride is a label applied to a woman who publishes her intent to marry someone from another - usually more developed - country.[1] Mail-order brides traditionally hail from developing countries, major examples being Colombia, Venezuela, Thailand and to a lesser extent from Mexico, Philippines, Vietnam, India and China. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, however, large numbers of eastern European women also advertised themselves in such a way; primarily being from Russia, Ukraine and Moldova. In the past, international marriage agencies such as Cherry Blossoms allowed women to sign up to be listed in picture magazines; now the Internet has largely supplanted this method. Men who list themselves in such publications may be referred to as mail-order husbands.lol...Lets make things a little clear here. Thee Authentic One is not considering buying a bride... What do you think of GOOG? Did you know they intend to open up the Chinese Internet Market by merging or buying out their rivals in China? Did you know that large companies that place display ads on the internet are losing money, especially in todays market here in the USA? By GOOG opening up the entire Chinese Internet market, they can offer exclusive advertising rights to the thousands of companies that wish to place display ads on the GOOG sites to reach the millions of Chinese customers that is not available to them at the moment. Does anyone else agree with this, or do you think that I am wasting my money buy investing in GOOG right now? If you wish to burn the candle at both ends and you are a gambling sod, then invest in BIDU and a few other large Chinese Internet companies, now, that way when GOOG makes their play for these companies, you can reap the substantial financial rewards often associated with companies that are being bought out and if you play your cards right, you can stay one step ahead of GOOG, making a financial killing on these Chinese companies and when its all over and done with, then invest your profits into GOOG and watch the money roll in from the thousands of companies worldwide that will be placing their display ads on the Google Chinese Internet sites. Agree or disagree, that is the question!Something I would like to clarify here is that although I am an investor and a former gambler, I do not nor will I ever short a stock, I know this sounds crazy to other investors, but I don't like the theory behind doing this and because of this, I will not engage in this practice.. My kind of stocks are the ones that I have researched, then purchased that day and I usually end up selling that stock within 2 to 3 hours after buying it, for a nice profit. With GOOG, I would sit on it, just like I would with BIDU, CN. In so far as the "stock market crashing", don't think so, might get really rocky but will not crash, not anytime soon. Try to keep a positive mental attitude people, it does wonders for the body and mind. moreResolved Question: what is Poject Inglish?

I purchased the complete "Perry Mason" series advertised as having 'excellent video and audio quality,' '...custom artwork,' and bearing the seal of Trustwave Trusted Commerce. The site photo had custom artwork but my copies had none. I contacted both the seller and Trustwave to explain that the DVDs were too dark, too bright and washed out, some bore the logo of TV Land, most of them stuck and would not play, and I wanted my money back and information on how to return my purchase. Neither has acknowledged my emails nor have they responded. These DVDs were, in my opinion, cloned in China from very poor VCR tapes and then transferred [without any regard for quality] to disk. I support the Free Tibet campaign and have learned that Yahoo and Google have set up, for the Chinese government, a web service that is heavily censored. Surely it goes against the whole idea of the net's purpose, which (I think) should be about freedom of information? China has a terrible record of human rights abuses so why have these 2 companies (and others) agreed to do this? I now use 'Everyclick' as my web server, as they give 50% of their advertising to charities (of which I obviously chose the Free Tibet campaign) unlike Yahoo and Google who make billions and keep it all, while ACTIVELY helping to repress freedom of information for a sixth of the world! Someone tell me why they chose to do this? I love their services but I can't support this.TO DANS 196... "Who cares" is why I put the question up! I've accumulated 526 points since I joined 2 months ago...solely so that I can now put questions up about Tibet and the Tibetan peoples rights, which the Chinese government has basically removed and is fast destroying utterly. Who cares? I do! So I'm going to use up all my points leaving questions about Tibet on every single category in Answers in the hope that either the Yahoo CEO or somebody out there explains their immoral conduct. Maybe I'm wrong, so tell me why. But please...standing up and shouting about my 'hypocrisy' really adds nothing to this debate. How can they beat the to death???
Chinese Hide Dogs to Escape Crackdown By AUDRA ANG, AP BEIJING (Nov. 16) - Elaine Loke is shutting down her dog boutique and will spirit her golden retrievers Hippy and Bally out of Beijing to escape the city's sweeping anti-rabies campaign. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Talk About It: Post Thoughts Dog owners like Loke have been scrambling to hide their pets in the face of a new crackdown which allows only one dog per household and bans breeds taller than 14 inches. Fears have been fueled by graphic Internet pictures and witnesses who say police are beating to death strays and dogs that run afoul of regulations. "I can't believe this is happening," said Loke, 33, who keeps the curtains in her first-floor apartment drawn to ward off prying neighbors and walks her dogs in an underground parking lot. "It's so stressful. In the morning, I hear dogs barking and people talking outside my home and I think the police are coming." The pressure is so bad that Loke is returning to her native Hong Kong and closing a business she has had for two years. In China, dogs have long been seen as a source of meat as much as companionship. But the current crackdown has touched a nerve in the rapidly modernizing capital, especially among its burgeoning middle class. "What kind of rules are these? I don't expect everybody to love animals. But I do want to have my rights to keep pets," said Clare Xiao, an account manager at an advertising company. She sent her larger Brittany to a kennel run by a friend and kept her Pekinese, a stray she found on the street. "What the government is doing is just disappointing, cold and emotionless," said Xiao. Many of the prohibitions have been on the books since 2003, but only sporadically enforced. The city of 13 million people has 1 million dogs, half of them unregistered, according to state media. Simpson Talks About How He Could Have Killed Ex-Wife A sharp increase in rabies cases nationwide has prompted the renewed vigilance. Only 3 percent of China's dogs are vaccinated against rabies and the disease is nearly always fatal in humans once symptoms develop, though it can be warded off by a series of expensive and painful injections. Officials have extended the 2003 rules to cover not only Beijing's center but some outlying areas. The clampdown, announced Nov. 6, gave owners until Thursday to comply or the dogs would be seized and the owners fined. One owner Zhu Qiao has moved three times since 2001 to find areas where her black-and-white dog, Gou Gou, could be raised safely and within the law. "He's part of my life, he's my friend and family," said Zhu, 30, a television producer. "If you want to impose a law, you have to get the opinion of dog owners and experts. You can't just take them away." "I can't move again. There's no option but to hide him and if he gets taken, I'll go with him." Another owner had his Labrador retriever taken away Wednesday because she was too big. "She is a very amicable dog. She never barked," said the owner, a businessman who would give only his surname Yang. "If they don't allow me to raise her here, I will find another place. I will get her back." Witness accounts and photos on the Internet have shown dogs being captured in nets and pummeled with wooden and metal sticks. But authorities have vowed to carry out a "strict but civilized" campaign that police hoped would not anger dog owners, according to the official Xinhua News Agency. "I have never heard of dogs being culled after they were caught by police. Dogs are a man's best friend and we treat them as friends, even when we have to lock them up for the sake of public security," Xinhua quoted a Ministry of Public Security official, Bao Suixian, as saying. Many owners have sent their dogs to kennels outside the city. Some are handing them over to friends and family. Joyce Wang gave one of her dogs to her sister and is keeping Ding Ding, her fox terrier, close by her side. She said she had heard that the government was offering $25 to people who reported on rule-breaking dog owners. "I'm scared and worried. Now I don't take him outside during the day," Wang said. "Even in the evening, we will take a detour if we see people in the compound we live in." moreResolved Question: Are these "Teach in Asia" programs trustworthy?
I see postings all over the internet, on Craigslist, in local papers, on university bulletin boards, etc, all claiming there's a huge need for English teachers in Asia. Are these programs trustworthy? I've heard a few horror stories about people stuck in Korea/China with no plane ticket home, stuck in filthy housing, etc... Are they the exception? It seems to me that with the huge amount of advertising done for these programs - SOMEONE is making money, and I'm sure at least one moneymaker will be the placement agencies. Is it at the expense of the teacher, or good for all involved?
