So, I'm 19 *soon to be 20*, graduated high school almost 2 years ago, and, I'm still torn about what to do with myself. When I graduated I had no direction, absolutely no direction lol. I tried my hands at all kinds of things, but ended up quitting. Not out of depression or "oh I suck at this blah blah blah", but just because I get bored. I'm the type of person that gets very bored and restless if I don't have something to do........except when I was working at my last job, and when I play my music. My last job was awesome, pretty much was with an internet marketing/consulting/advertising companies. 2 of them at once in fact (working with my direct boss, and then helping him out with his biggest account as pretty much the "assist consultant" or "secondary consultant"). It wasn't your typical white collar, desk-jockey, type job. That type of job, where I'm just pushin paper/pencil would kill me, I'm way to restless. But with this past job, I got to be creative, I got to use my ideas, I got to edit/make videos, websites, pictures, etc. And I got my training for free. BUT, unfortunately, due to the economy, the business has taken a hit. Boss said he can't afford to pay me right now, and didn't want to have me working for free lol, but that I'd most likely be able to come back in a couple months. So, more like laid-off than fired. Now on to my music. I play flamenco guitar. I play everyday and I can honestly say that it's the one and only thing that truly makes me happy. It's my release. I would absolutely LOVE to make a career out of it, but it's music, much easier said than done. And considering it's also flamenco, considering most people probably think about the bird (flamingo) when they see the word, it's not exactly all that main-stream. Lately I've been very lost, very very lost. I've tried my hand at a few things, and quit all of them. College........psh, yea right. I'm not lazy, not lazy at all, trust me, the responsibility of my last job was enormous. It's just, college isn't right for everybody, some people just aren't meant to go, and I happen to be one of those people. What can I say? I tried, only lasted a year then I decided that I couldn't keep doing it. And some more things here and there I don't want to elaborate on, and make this any longer than it already is. Anyway, on to my question (sorry for rambling), when it comes down to it, the only 2 things I haven't quit are: my job, and flamenco. The reason why I keep trying my hand at other things and not just sticking with music and the job that I have/had, is that it's free-lance. Times are good, times are bad. Music is artistic, and the web-job is free-lance. Basically, it's not something I'm guaranteed to always have (if that makes sense). And I'm a person that grew up with VERY little stability in my life, so the thought of living the rest of my life like that......just the thought of it stressed the hell outta me. But still, those are the only 2 things I haven't quit. So, finally, my question is: What just sticking with my gut and do music and the internet-marketing job (when I get it back, or even finding clients of my own), or should I keep searching for something else? Everyone knows most coffee shops have free wifi... mcdonalds is trying to put every coffee shop out of business replaced by 'mcafe'; mcdonald's "espreso" coffees, etc. They recently made a move installing wifi at mcdonalds. Sounds very convienenet, and in truth this would be a great step for "Combating" the poor local coffee shops in rural communities, small towns, etc. But the very strang move was making this wifi connection not only available for PURCHASE (which ISN'T advertised) they made it a hell of a pain to use. Behind a terribly slow proxy, and difficult to connnect, login, and surf, not to mention there are no power outlets available for people to use at mcdonalds. I had to drive my grandmother for a 6 hour surgery about 100 miles away from home. Not knowing what the hell to do for 6 hours i of course brought my guitar and laptop and figured it would be a great oppurtunity to busk and spend some time surfing the web or playing online games at a mcdonalds.... well... with only about an hour remaining on 50% battery... doesn't look like that's going to happen... If any major suit from mcdonalds happens to read this, if they do some kind of customer satisfaction research... WHAT THE EFF??? I had a difficult enough time cyphering through secured connections to find out your wifi name is "wayport" (the company that they use to CHARGE people for internet usage) now my battery is dying, and the internet is SLOW AS HELL because of your dammed proxy! Do yourselves a favour and make everything easier and more affordable for EVERYONE... get a simple dsl or cable connection, hook up a linksys and name your wireless "Mcdonalds" FFS!If you log into your AT&T account (if you pay for AT&T internet) and a few other service providers you can get it through them At mcdonalds... Other then a few others, you have to buy a "prepaid card" or pay with a credit card. I am in a Mass Communications program at a University. I am thinking about declaring advertising as my major, but I have a few things that have been bothering me. Hello - I agreed to help a owner of an apartment building in the Cleveland Ohio area. I know we can not talk about area, but most of the renters to not make much money. 1 bedroom is about 550 and 2 bedroom is 650. I usually market on the internet. The owner has 30 unit to fill and usually just advertises on craigslist. If most of the people renting these units do not have money I would assume they do not use the computer. I have recently been contracted to become a marketing arm for an unsecured debt elimination program that is not only legal and ethical but the system has been upheld by the Alabama Supreme Court. It’s very simple to do if you know how and my contractor is not divulging any of his proprietary secrets. My plan is to sell a membership to one person in every city in the US for their use as an exclusive territory. They will advertise locally at their own expense, or advertise on the many free ad sites on the Internet. The leads will call them, they will discuss the program, collect their paperwork and fees and FedEx the package to me. Once everything is in place we pay them a 25% commission ($625-$1250 per sale) until they do $250,000 in Revenue. Then they’ll increase to 30% ($875-$1500 per sale). Basically they do the legwork, we do the grunt work and they make an outstanding commission. So if they made 1 sale per week they would make over $32K per year, but if they make 3 sales a week, they’re now into a 6 figure income. Membership fees are nominal, but they are population based. The cost for the membership will be $500 per 1M people according to the latest census. They can buy more than 1 territory. We will not advertise for customers or compete with them in their territories. Even though we are building a network of direct sales professionals this is NOT Network Marketing. This is NOT MLM in any way, shape or form and our system is only available in the USA. There are basically 300 cities in the US that I want to sell a membership in. My question to the group is this; most of the online sources such as Craigslist, Backpage or Kijiji will only allow you to advertise for free in one city. Without actually taking out an expensive ad in 300 local newspapers around the country, what would be the fastest, easiest and least expensive way to get the word out to as many people as possible who may want to take advantage of this opportunity? I have a website ready to go up, but I’m having a problem figuring out how to set up and acquire the squeeze page information into a database.
