Today's newspaper advertising. There are matched sets of washers and dryers. The washer is a 3.5 cubic foot 10 cycle, etc. The dryer is a 5.8 foot cubic foot electric <3 cycles>.I don't get it. If I have a 3.5 cubic foot washer, shouldn't I have the same size dryer? Or am I expected to have 1.75 loads of wash in one single dryer load? Why is there inconsistency between the sizes of washers and dryers? What are they measuring and why is there a difference?

Plus I rarely (once a year) see black people on there, but Kudos to you putting yours on there!
moreOpen Question: What internship should I take?
In September, I start my final year and am expected to do a 3-month internship between then and next March. I am majoring in Performing Arts Communication - which is 80% similar to communication management and PR, plus 20% stagework.
As much as I genuinely love the performing arts, my program is disappointingly choppy, disorganized, and did nothing to develop my skills as a performer. Therefore I am rather convinced that I will not end up working in showbiz. My grades are good, but I know that it's not enough to qualify myself into the industry's standards. However, I've been doing very well in the 80% communication and social sciences subjects; and am happy enough if I could start my career in that direction.
I am still undecided about two initial career paths: the first is journalism, and the second is brand development. Whether I'll focus my career in journalism or brand development will depend on where I end up scoring an internship. However, in the long haul (about 20 years from now) I want to gear more and more towards education, and use my career in either journalism or brand development to start a new and progressive education movement.
I've shortlisted about 15 companies to apply for internships; consisting of newspapers, magazines, TV, PR & advertising companies, and media consultancies. However, recently my university signed an MOU with a new film production company, which promised to prioritize our students to intern there. I caught myself feeling really enthused when the company director mentioned some international projects and Hollywood collaborations; and how they're open to interns in the promotional and marketing department who are interested in learning the art of branding a film and the actors involved in it.
However, I'm trying not to quickly buy into my campus's offers because I know all too well its history of pretention. It calls itself "London School" and pretends that it's in the USA while it is obviously in Indonesia and has no ties with London, UK. I've been involved in campus projects collaborating with embassies and international universities and well reputed companies only to find the whole thing pointless, not worth the effort, and failing to get an audience excited about it. Even my major's a joke, because most of the kids taking it aren't genuinely interested in learning the art and discipline of true showmanship, but are rather forced by their parents to get a bachelor's degree and therefore resort to seeking a major which they thought doesn't require serious work.
The problem with this film company which just signed an MOU with us is that no one's ever heard of it; it's only done one film which scored a lukewarm success; it's planning to recruit as much as 80 student interns with no previous experience for their next film project later this year; and its parent company is an oil and gas company. The director is a charismatic motivational speaker who boasts of splitting his time between Jakarta and the U.S., and brags about the Hollywood people he's "good friends with" and allegedly works with. Its website is a mess and the director's claims are unproven. It sounds very much like a failed business venture I tried to embark on not too long ago.
But at the same time I also wonder, "What if this company does make it big and I miss out?"
So what do you think? Should I go for it and apply for an internship in marketing and promotions with this company? Right now it looks to me that that's the closest I could get to training in brand development in a context that's actually relevant to my major, and I am very concerned on actually focusing on one thing at a time. However, having read the signs, I also worry that by doing so I might be conned into a commitment that I'd only end up regretting. I know all too well that I can only build tomorrow on the foundations that I lay today, so I really don't want to be careless in choosing the kind of foundation to start with.
Or should I just stay away from this company altogether and apply to the other companies I shortlisted? What other things should I pay attention in building a successful, solid, and satisfying foundation for my future career? It is very important for me that my future career will provide intellectual challenge, creative outlets, a large potential network, plentiful income, and a platform on which I can influence the masses for a good cause. And finally, how do I convince media publishers and media consultancies that I'd make a good intern for them, while my major says "Performing Arts?"
Thank you!Strangely enough, this company's website has disappeared. By the way, would you trust a production house called Wasita Film? (get it? Was It A...) They still have a Twitter page that was last updated in February, with lot's of emphasis on HOLLYWOOD. It features the picture of a smiley Caucasian woman, and yet this is a Southeast Asian company... why not feature the company director's photo instead (who's a local man); or better yet, a proper company logo as any serious business would?
moreOpen Question: how to make money online?
Here you go...
I know people who would be great at webcam modeling, can I make money referring them to you?
Yes, you can get paid for referrals by becoming an agent. Our Webcam Model Affiliate Program pays agents a 10% commission of each referred model's weekly earnings.
How much do webcam models make, and what can I make as their agent?
Our average webcam model will make between $500 and $1,000 per week working 20 to 25 hours, with some models making much more. Based on that average, our agents make $50 to $100 per week for each active model. Recruit 10 active models, and you could make $500 to $1,000 or more each week. If you recruit 50 working models, you could earn $100,000 or more per year.
As an agent, would I get paid for referring other agents to you?
Yes. We have a 2 tier affiliate program, so you get a 10% commission from the earnings of each agent you refer.
Can I be both model and agent at the same time?
Yes. We actually encourage models to become agents too so they can make even more money by recruiting their friends. The only restriction is that a model cannot get paid as an agent for recruiting herself.
Do you accept agents and models from outside the U.S.?
Yes. We accept both agents and models from any country, but all models we hire must be able to speak English.
To start as an agent, how many models do I have to have with you?
None. You can start with no models. Of course you will not be paid until you recruit your first one, and she or he starts making money.
Is there a minimum number of models I need to maintain in order to continue as an agent with you?
No. You can have as few or many models as you want, you will still be paid the same for each model.
Do I need to have my own website in order to become an agent?
No. Although having a website does help, it is not required. Agents can advertise our website directly using their agent affiliate link.
How do I make sure I get credit for all my referrals?
Each agent is provided with their own affiliate link to our website. Someone only needs to click on your affiliate link once, and they will always be associated with your agent code, no matter when they apply, even if it's a year later.
How will I know when someone signs up using my code, and how much commission I have earned?
Every time someone applies using your agent code, our system sends you an email notification. You can then track that application as well as your earnings through our Agent Portal.
Do you provide traffic stats so I can see where my referrals came from?
Yes. Detailed traffic statistics are available through our Agent Portal. Traffic data includes daily unique visitors, complete referrer data, signups by referrer, and model data by referrer.
????: Money Maker Discussion Forum http://www.moneymakerdiscussion.com/foru...p?p=105020
I have never recruited models before, where would I start?
Ads on Craigslist and Backpage are a good start since they are usually free or very inexpensive. Another effective way is through friends, networking, and placing ads in local newspapers. Tradeshows and special events have worked great as well.
Can I refer male models too or do you only pay agents for female models?
Since we accept both female and male models, agents are paid the same for both.
Do I need to provide support for my models or contact them to get paid?
No. All you need to do is refer the models to us, we take care of everything else. As long as models you referred keep working and making money, you get a 10% share of their earnings.
I have my own webcam site. Can I still be an agent for you, so my models have a chance to make more money?
Yes. We do not require agents to be exclusive to us, so you are free to promote and recruit for other sites as well.
How often do agents get paid, and what payment options do you offer?
Agents get paid weekly, each Monday, for the previous work week, and we can pay by either PayPal, Epassporte, direct deposit, or check (for U.S. residents only). We do not hold back pay nor deduct for chargebacks.
Is there a minimum amount I need to make before you pay me?
No, we do not have a minimum payout, so if you make 1 cent in a week, we will pay it to you during that pay period.
Are there banners I can use to promote your agency on my site or in ads?
Yes, you can find our approved promotional banners for agents by clicking here.
Here is how you get started guys...

Dear Mr.Cumino,
I participated in the meeting last week. At the meeting, there are some solving Caferoma's problems. I agree with two methods to solve problem. Firstly., I think you should focus to develop a new advertising campain to relaunch the brand. Because we need that everyone should know about our product. More cheaper almost every other ground coffee products on the market. In addition, we can advertise on newspapers, TV, Internet........ Finally, we need decrease the price from 20% to 25% with conformable prices for everyone because the product price is too high recently as compared with similar product coffee on the market. I think after we make the price lower, our selling number will increase highly.
Best Regards.

Max is the consumer columnist for the local newspaper.
The article Max has written this week is entitled "How to save money when buying a digital Camera"
When looking through weekly advertising fliers, he noticed that the two local shops that seel digital cameras were offering discounts.
Shop A
You get 30$ off every 100$ spent before taxes
Shop B
20% off any purchase before taxes.
What advice should Max give the newspaper's readers so that they get the best discount when buying their digital camera from one of these two shops? It only says 30$ off for every 100$ you spend! For shop A

I saw this rescue shelter advertised where i live, great reviews online.. I went to the shelter and first of all there were flies all around the front; the man who owns it tells me the cats are in the back of the store. he then says to me there is a dead cat in the wall so it smells badly. I say its ok i will still go back, he says "good luck"
I go back and the room was almost pitch black, he had some women working there who seemed nice, I saw many cats in small cages with newspaper on the bottom all sad looking.. i even saw a large reptile that looked sick.. There was a huge cage full of kittens, the woman says she has no idea what any of their sexes are,, they looked sick. i picked one up which scracthed me.
The smell in the room was overwhelming, smelled like dead animals-- very strong stentch.
I walked out shocked... also the store is only open from 3-7pm,, its closed anytime before or after..
I recently told a another rescue organization about this and was told the owner is a nice man and he saves animals,, I think this is bs.
What do u think about this, should i report to aspca?
moreResolved Question: Should I ask for a promotion?
I work with three small local newspapers that are owned by a large corporation (who could really care less about anything except for money). I started my job here in August 2009, working as a "Front Desk Clerk" which included answering phones, greeting clients and taking care of their needs, wedding announcements, classifieds, etc, and basically did whatever my boss, the Circulation Manager/Publisher, asked me to do. Slowly he kept adding on more responsibilities, I was soon in charge of Legal Advertising (the department that consistently brings in the most profit for the papers) and my boss (Alex) was training me to help with Circulation, as well as building the pages for the newspaper and helping the editor out. Everything was great! I was hired on under the impression of "Front Desk Clerk, with opportunity for advancement" and my boss told me before he hired me that I would be making $8.50 an hour and should not expect/ask for a raise for a full year. I was okay with the expectations, until my boss resigned from his job at the beginning of April. No replacement has been hired to fill his position...so guess who the responsibility has fallen on? Yep, me. Instead of doing the menial and easy tasks that I had been doing before, I am now in charge of all payments for papers, route carriers, and everything else that Alex spent 60+ hours a week working on...ON TOP of everything I was doing before: answering phones, classifieds, legal advertising, running to the post office, etc. I'm not being paid anything more, I haven't been promoted, and it seems like the "General Manager" (she never managed anything before, just wrote stories for the papers) just has more tasks to pile on everyday. I keep hinting that they either need to promote me to Circulation Manager, give me a raise, and hire someone else as a Front Desk Clerk, or just plain hire a Circulation Manager. Sandy, our GM insists that everything has to go through her bosses and that she has no control over anything, and I'm just becoming more stressed and frustrated day by day. So...should I ask for a promotion (or a raise) now, and risk being refused, or continue to do whatever the GM says (including clean the bathroom and office) for the next two months in the hope that at my yearly review they'll give me a meager $.50 raise only to be shut down again?

moreResolved Question: How are so many low class people becoming so rich?
FYI: I live in India.
Please Note: I am neither Racist nor Casteist. But I am person with several genuine problems and absolute bewilderment.
I am website designer, and I have extremely good communication skills. I rate myself as a very good at civic sense and social manner awareness. I am trying to run my small family (4, including myself) with the earnings out of my shoestring business. I am always polite to my clients, I make sure they are comfortable with every technical aspect of their website, I make sure the site is Standards Compliant for the client's sake, despite them not even knowing what W3C Standards are. I try to keep my prices as comfortable as possible, and relatively low.
Yes, I am somewhat more expensive than the general market, but the cost of having an unruly, brutal joke of a messy website "design" is more than the price of owning a good website.
Also, I never spit on the road, refuse to relieve myself on the pavements like so many other people do despite desperate urgency, always say "excuse me" before I do anything remotely assertive. I respect women, pay my taxes on time.
Despite all this, I barely manage to scrape by, financially speaking. I am usually at the mercy of my landlord, and begging all the people I owe money to, to wait "just a few more days". Then, I get a small respite in the form of a new client or two, and I am forced to spend all the money on my commitments. This basically leaves no chance for me to improve upon my life, or the conditions therein. I am always stuck in this vicious cycle of debt and repayment. Add to my woes is the fact that we as a family have no source of support from our relatives, and hence zero investment capability; I can't even afford to advertise my services in the local newspaper classifieds. I am forced to rely on the poorly maintained and extremely unreliable public transport system, since I don't have a vehicle. Yet, I do try to work hard, against all odds.
CONTRAST THIS WITH THE FOLLOWING:
All I have to do is to take a short walk onto the main road, and I see multiple swanky cars on the road.
In a majority of these expensive vehicles, there are people who are unruly, wear arrogant looks on their faces, and drive like shit. A lot of them don't look educated (you can tell the difference, though it sounds preposterous). They don't hesitate to pull down the window and spit copious paan onto the roads. They don't hesitate to open up their fly and start spewing on to the footpath, even in the presence of women on the road.
They wear large chunky jewellery on their sweaty unhygienic bodies (trying to demonstrate their wealth), but display the social sense of a bacterium.
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! How is this happening? Will I ever succeed in life? Will I ever overtake these creatures? And pray tell me HOW _SO MANY_ of them are ending up so RICH! This is not a rare phenomenon anymore... so my curiosity...

I just received a reply via snail mail about a job I applied to 6 weeks ago! The answer was they already hired someone, but we will keep your resume on file, blah blah blah. I have also applied to many jobs online either through their direct website or through a job match or career center site. To date, I have only heard from 3 prospective employers. All "thanks but no thanks". These jobs are no longer advertising but I have not been called for an interview nor have I received a No answer. How long do I wait to follow up? Or should I assume that no news is bad news and they don't want me? I cannot wait that long to hear about a job. I need to know sooner so I can move onto the next one. Is 6 weeks of no response the norm nowadays or is that company just unprofessional for leaving me (and others) hanging?

moreVoting Question: Help! Do I have a virus on my macbook? An ad keeps showing up on different pages. Is that a coincidence?
Okay so a few months ago I clicked an advertisement in the right hand column of popular national newspaper. I look through the offer briefly, dug into a few more pages of advertisement and then left the site to continue reading. As I've gone along my merry way, I've noticed that on a number of different websites I've noticed this same advertising for the program either above the header or on the right hand side where most paid advertising usually shows up. Now maybe these guys are just blanketing the internet with this advertisement or it was suggested to me that I may have downloaded a virus or something else nefarious when I entered this site. Though both the sources seem reputable, this still seems like a wonky. I don't recall it ever happening before. Does anyone have any idea what this could be or how I could stop it? It's weird being stalked by an advertisement? Also, I thought Macs were bullet proof? Should I take defensive measures?

Legit: What's a funny joke you know about dogs (I don't know, I can't come up with a good legit question)I like it when they put tea cups in tea cups.... We get that it's a "tea cup"...
And, what are your trying to sell me, the puppy or the cup? No way I'm paying $2,000 for either, by the way!For the labradoodle, I just think it's funny that they bred a crappily bred "rare" silver lab to a poodle to produce an even MORE crappily bred puppy. I bet I could just dye a white dog purple and call it a "rare violet chiweenie" or something and people will jump all over it.
moreResolved Question: Would taking an off-campus look bad to admissions counselors?
My schedule for next year is as follows:
AP English IV
Pre-AP Pre-Cal
AP Environmental Science
AP Economics (sem)/Principles of Business & Marketing (sem)
Newspaper
Yearbook
Advertising (sem)/Dual Credit Sociology (sem)
I have one more space. Should I take an off-campus? I'm allowed to have one as a senior taking dual credit, but I don't know if that would look bad to admissions people when I apply to colleges this fall.
The off-campus would allow me to do my dual credit class on days when I have that class and when I don't have that class, it would allow for me to work on newspaper, yearbook, or homework.
So, taking an off-campus has its pros and cons, but would it affect admissions counselors as they make their decisions on my applications?
moreVoting Question: Who do I call when I find a fraudulent company in the newspaper?
I just found out that there's a fraudulent company (STARPOINT TRADING INC) who is advertising in our newspaper. If you do some research, you can find out that they're fraudulent. So I was wondering if I should call someone like the RCMP about this, or do I just stay quiet and not bother?Seriously, do the research on the company. I had no prior knowledge of it, so obviously I had no grudge against them. I just thought it would be a nice way to get some extra cash with a baby on the way and university picking up again next January.
They're sending money from a fake bank account and making the person who cashes the cheque (approx. $3000) send $400 of it to the "company" because of fees or whatever. If the cheque goes through and isn't red flagged, then the person who sent the money is the person on the hook for having to repay it. And they have to repay the money they spent from the cheque.
As an English minor, I know the English language quite well and I noticed that their reply to my e-mail was full of typos, etc. and therefore I started doing some research about the company.
moreResolved Question: How do you feel about breeders advertising their dogs?
I never put much thought to this before, as I havent heard of many reputable breeders who advertise their dogs/puppies for sale. Just today, however, I was talking to a handler friend of mine who owns and competes with Golden Retrievers in conformation. We got talking about what we like to see in reputable breeders and I said that I would much prefer to get a pup from a breeder who does not have to advertise their puppies for sale in classifieds websites/newspapers. She then told me how she had purchased one of her goldens from a breeder who had made an advertisement on a local classifieds website. Said breeder health tests, shows in conformation and field trials, etc... basically everything that a good breeder should do. This particular dog is a AKC Ch. and has multiple titles in other areas as well. He's a strong healthy dog with not a single thing wrong with him.
My question is, how do you feel about breeders advertising their dogs? If they are good breeders why would they need to have to advertise puppies/dogs in classifieds/newspapers? Shouldn't they have a waiting list for potential owners?
I was on a waiting list for quite a while before I got my Aussie, so I'm very curious about this. And has anyone else purchased a conformation dog this way? It seems a bit strange to me, I guess, just because I had never heard of anyone who had done that.
