Dear Potential Sponsor,
Hello! My name is Sara****** ****** , I am a 7th grader in St. Louis, MO where I am actively involved with Holy Redeemers Soccer Team, Unity Church's Youth Group and many other youth activities. In the future after graduating from high school where I will complete many advanced placement courses I plan on attending Greenville College in Illinois where I will obtain my Doctrine degree in the medical field and later I will be, hopefully, a brain surgeon or a pediatrician.
In the month of _____________________ I was crowned as your local Miss ******** Heights Missouri. On ____________________ I will be representing and honoring my title as Pre-Teen Miss ******** Heights as a contestant at the upcoming Missouri Dream Girls USA Pageant this pageant leads directly to the prestigious The Dream Girls U.S.A. National Pageant this is where all state title winners along with the runner up will compete for the National title of each division of 0-24 mos.: Baby Miss Missouri, 2-3 years: Tiny Miss Missouri, 4-6 years: Little Miss Missouri, 7-9 years: Junior Miss Missouri, 10-12 years: Pre-teen Miss Missouri, this is the division I will be competing in. On to over 40 years of age.
To be able to pursue competing for Missouri Dream Girls USA Pageant and fulfilling a dream that all little girls have growing up I am asking businesses like your own to help offset my fees by sponsoring me in anyway possible whether it be merchandise, advertisements, or financially. I look forward to having the honor to represent everyone in our community and state to the best that I know how. Many people do not realize that allowing children to be apart of what they feel strongly about in their childhood are great ways with helping them to mature not only will pageants help them grow up strong and compassionate but with confidence and poise also. With that goal in mind that is the exact reason why I chose to compete in the Dream Girl Pageants over other pageants.
At The Missouri Dream Girls USA Pageant titles, scholarships, prizes, and awards are earned through hard work and demonstration of self confidence, intelligence, elegance, willingness to help others and natural beauty not by the cost of a contestants outfit or how "glitzy" they can appear. They celebrate the achievements and personality of all women, teens, and girls at all stages of life while encouraging growth of future leaders. This pageant will help promote a brighter future for contestants by stressing the importance of education and community involvement. They help do all this by teaching lifelong skills that will help myself and other contestants in what ever we may choose to do in life. It may also lead us on how to conduct ourselves in interviews , public appearances and speeches , but most of all how to carry and present ourselves with confidence. As you can see this is why I feel this is a wonderful organization with many positive outcomes for everyone involved with them.
As a potential sponsor, you are being asked to help me continue my quest of competing for the Missouri Dream Girls USA Pageant's Miss Pre-Teen crown/title by providing any portion of the sponsor fees. My total sponsor fee goal is $800 if possible. In return for your sponsorship you and your business/organization will be featured with me in the state program book that will be seen by many from all over Missouri.(HOW MUCH ADS ARE HERE!!) The sponsorship fee is also is/isn't tax deductible for businesses as an advertising expense. In addition to that advertisement I will do my best to represent you as my sponsor in this pageant. I will also be available if requested for public appearances, talks, and presentations for your organization/ business such as special promotions, newspaper ads, parades or just to sign autographs. If additional services are desired let me know and I will try to accommodate your business if possible. Your support will greatly be appreciated.
Thank You for your time and for helping me realize my dreams!
Most Sincerely,

Advertising is old: Some advertisements on paper go back farther than two thousand years. In ancient Greece, it was quiet common to see signs advertising different kinds of services, but it was not until printing was invented that modern advertising was born. In Europe, in the seventeenth century, they use to place ads in newspapers; some of these ads were personnel messages, but most were for business. When many emigrants come to the United States, they used advertisements to get jobs; we can only imagine them going thorough each newspaper very carefully.

Morgan,by this time has changed his mind and wanted to keep that car for his son. moreResolved Question: What to charge for Graphic Design freelance work as a beginner?
Hi,
I just graduated from design school and have started freelancing. A fellow employee asked me to help out with a side project, which I happily agreed to. Now, I need help figuring out the cost of what to charge for the project.
It is for a small not-for-profit chorus organization.
They were having their 20th anniversary party and needed the following:
Playbill - 36 pages (included numerous ads I had to create on my own)
One 11x17 Color Poster - To be nice, I created 3 designs and them choose their favorite and made edits
Three 8.5x11 Color Flyers - These were smaller versions of the poster, but with different content on each
One small B/W newspaper advertisement
One color advertisement for local movie theatres to play before shows
Some frustrating things with this job included: Editorial pieces coming in incomplete and many changes being emailed to me over and over again, no matter how many times I asked for a final copy.
The whole job took up a lot of my time, but I am trying to factor in the part that I am new at this and really needed this experience.
They told me they had a design budget of $2000 for the whole year. They have 3 projects a year - the one I mentioned above, and two smaller projects with just 1 poster, 1 flyer, and 1 newspaper ad each.
Their previous designer did one of the small projects and they are still working out her charges for that, and whatever is left over will go to me for the this big project I just completed and one smaller one.
I know it was my mistake for not creating a contract for this person to begin with, however it was awkward being my first freelance project and this person has a higher up position than me in my company. It has been a week since they received the final product and have not paid me. I was thinking of creating an invoice and just sending it over to them, but what should I charge for a project like this that would be a fair price given my limited experience? My point was that I DON'T have the experience to charge $75 an hour yet and I know that, but I don't where to start with my rates. I completely understand that I will lose money for awhile because it will take me longer than a 30 year experienced designer to do the same project. I am asking what to charge taking into consideration that I am NOT experienced.I did not have any out of pocket expenses for supplies.
I would say roughly 40 hours for the whole project

moreResolved Question: How does the brain process the passage of time?
When we look at an old photo or advertisement; we are looking in the past. Would this be the same reaction, if the image was reproduced? For example, let’s say someone gave me a crisp, new newspaper from 1984. Would I realize it was out of date without seeing the year? We instinctively recall the past. I saw an interview from 1982. If no one told me the year; would I automatically know it was from the past? I find it fascinating that the brain associates time passage with clothing, even language.
moreVoting Question: Need help identifying independent variable?
Thirty-eight women, ages 30-55 years, were selected from a larger sample of respondents to
newspaper advertisements soliciting paid volunteers for a laboratory study of women’s sleep
and dreams. General exclusion criteria for all participants were concurrent antidepressant or
sleep-disrupting medication, or psychotherapy. Of these 38, 29 women comprised the experimental
group as they were either in the process of separating or filing for divorce or had
undergone a divorce hearing in the recent past (up to 3 months).
Subjects were interviewed in depth regarding marital history and degree of marital and life
satisfaction. In addition, they completed a variety of self-report personality scales, including the
full 21-item Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) (Beck et al., 1961). Of the 29 women in the
divorcing experimental sample, 19 were mildly to moderately depressed (DE) (BDI range:
15-36, mean q 23.21) while IO were not depressed (NDE) (BDI range: 5-14, mean = 8.21).
The small married comparison sample (C), consisting of nine women, was not significantly
different from the experimental sample in the variables of age, number of years married, or
number of children (respective means for all women: 36.42, I I .75, I .63). In addition, the control
sample met the criteria of a relatively high degree of marital satisfaction and stable marital
history as determined by the preliminary interview. BDI scores for this group fell within a
nondepressed range of 2-10, with a mean of 5.33. A final exclusion criterion for the married
comparison sample was any personal or family history of clinical depression.
All subjects spent the first 2 consecutive nights of sleep monitoring with no awakenings. On
the third night, REM periods were interrupted using a fixed time schedule. Awakenings were
made 5 minutes after the onset of the first REM period, IO minutes after the onset of REM,, 15
minutes after the onset of REM,, 20 minutes after the onset of REM, and any additional REM
period.1 Dream content reports were elicited using a standard protocol. This procedure yielded
a total of 176 storable REM reports. (A small number of reports were rejected due to technical
errors or because no dream content was elicited.) In cases in which multiple dreams were
reported in one collection, each dream was scored separately. (There were no significant
between-group differences in the frequency of multiple dreams.)

Question1
Your client (Company X) has just informed you that they would like you to work on a new campaign that would assist with the marketing of their “new soft drink” product, and would prefer the Broadcast vehicle to communicate a message because of its advantages. The campaign is intended to run for two weeks. What criteria would you consider in the developing the Media plan for company X?
Question 2
An electronic gadgets manufacturing firm wanted to market in India a small, hand-held electronic instrument for measuring blood pressure at home. The price of the instrument was fixed at around Rs. 3000 a piece. Being a specialty product, it was perceived to have only a limited clientele. The product was unique in the sense that it offered the convenience of constant monitoring of blood pressure at home, in office or anywhere, without having to visit the doctor.
In order to prepare a cold list, an advertisement of the product, along with a coupon, was released in two leading business newspapers in Bombay. Interested individuals were asked to fill up the printed coupon and send it to the firm within 10 days to get a free booklet on management of blood pressure. A majority of the people who responded were found to be suffering from blood pressure, obesity or heart-related problems. A cold list of about 5,000 individuals was generated on the basis of filled-in coupons.
Another alternative to this newspaper ad approach, as suggested by the research agency was to obtain a list of credit card holders from reputed banks such as ANZ Grindlays Bank, Citibank, Canara Bank, State Bank of India and Bank of Baroda.
Question:
What Sales Promotion techniques would be more appropriate for the company to market blood pressure instruments, and why?

Okay so a few months ago I clicked an advertisement in the right hand column of popular national newspaper. I look through the offer briefly, dug into a few more pages of advertisement and then left the site to continue reading. As I've gone along my merry way, I've noticed that on a number of different websites I've noticed this same advertising for the program either above the header or on the right hand side where most paid advertising usually shows up. Now maybe these guys are just blanketing the internet with this advertisement or it was suggested to me that I may have downloaded a virus or something else nefarious when I entered this site. Though both the sources seem reputable, this still seems like a wonky. I don't recall it ever happening before. Does anyone have any idea what this could be or how I could stop it? It's weird being stalked by an advertisement? Also, I thought Macs were bullet proof? Should I take defensive measures?

moreResolved Question: How do you feel about breeders advertising their dogs?
I never put much thought to this before, as I havent heard of many reputable breeders who advertise their dogs/puppies for sale. Just today, however, I was talking to a handler friend of mine who owns and competes with Golden Retrievers in conformation. We got talking about what we like to see in reputable breeders and I said that I would much prefer to get a pup from a breeder who does not have to advertise their puppies for sale in classifieds websites/newspapers. She then told me how she had purchased one of her goldens from a breeder who had made an advertisement on a local classifieds website. Said breeder health tests, shows in conformation and field trials, etc... basically everything that a good breeder should do. This particular dog is a AKC Ch. and has multiple titles in other areas as well. He's a strong healthy dog with not a single thing wrong with him.
My question is, how do you feel about breeders advertising their dogs? If they are good breeders why would they need to have to advertise puppies/dogs in classifieds/newspapers? Shouldn't they have a waiting list for potential owners?
I was on a waiting list for quite a while before I got my Aussie, so I'm very curious about this. And has anyone else purchased a conformation dog this way? It seems a bit strange to me, I guess, just because I had never heard of anyone who had done that.

The Music
During the World War 2 era music became extremely important to many people. Here, it gave people the feeling of relaxation and aided them in their attempt to get the mind out of their heads. It also played a large roll over seas with the solders fighting in the wars. Music was one of the few things the soldiers had that helped them remember what it was like back home. It also helped them relaxing during times of great stress, which is a very big deal because I'm sure it kept many people sane during the fighting. There were many types of music back then, but during this period of time jazz sky rocketed. Jazz, which many once disliked became the most popular music here in the U.S. with the rise of jazz many new genres emerged from it. These new genres include, Swing, Dixieland Jazz, Bebop, Cool Jazz, and Hard Bop. Swing, which was the most popular out of them all, was used to dance and party to. Dixieland Jazz had a New Orleans feel to it. Bebop, known as “musician’s music,” was more of an art form, rather than dancing music, that had faster music and was more complex. Cool Jazz was very calm and soothing compared to bebop. Finally, Hard Bop, which was an extension of Bebop, included influences from rhythm, blues, and gospel.
Relationship Between the music of the time and the Characters
Looking back at the main characters in the book, each one can be describing using a music genre. For example, Finny would be jazz, since he is a smooth talker who is rebellious, yet cool and relaxed. He does what he wants when he wants and there are no extends to what he can or cannot do. On the other hand, Gene would be classical music. Gene is more down to earth and for the most part does what he is told. He can also be very serious in certain situations, but his mood fluctuates throughout the book. Using music to analyze the characters has greatly helped me understand them and find a deeper meaning to the book.
Songs Mentioned in A Separate Peace
In the novel, A Separate Peace, they mention a few songs, which were poplar during this time. In the novel the boys are found singing the song “A Mighty Fortress us our God”. This was originally a German song, but was translated. This is a very religious song about Gods protection over his follower against evil. This goes along perfectly with the book because it takes place in an school getting ready for the draft. In the book, Finny and his friends jokingly sung the song, almost mocking it because in their mindset, nothing will protect them from being drafted and having their lives put on the line for their country.
Music used as Propaganda
During this era in time, with one of the world’s largest wars going on, all countries involved in the war experienced the same difficulties. They all needed to find ways to persuade their citizens to enlist in the military. They had many ways of doing so, whether it was posters, commercials on the radio and television, or using articles in the newspaper and advertisements on billboards. One of the most influential ways of propaganda used can be found within music. Artists would include positive facts about the war going on, such as heroic moments and stories of victory. This would get people to enlist with the mindset that everything will be okay and all their actions would result in heroic tales as they heard in these songs. When they arrived at the warzone, they were in for a huge surprise. This propaganda tricked many young people into enlisting. An example of this is in the book, A Separate Peace. Leper is persuaded into enlisting because of the video he was shown by the ski crops recruiters. This video showed the ski troops and how they were able to travel all around the world, delivering messages to designated areas. They tricked him into enlisting by depicting the war as a chance to travel around the world and do what he loves to do, which is ski. When Leper arrived at the training camp, he went crazy because it was nothing at all what he imagined from the video. Propaganda was used in many wars and is a very effective way of recruiting, even though it can be very deceitful at times.

moreResolved Question: :) Hello everyone. I have a poem to write about media, but I'm not quite sure what media is?
i've been told that it's music, newspapers, and many other stuff regarding that, but there are many other meanings. well, you see, in school our English teacher divided us into groups and gave us each a topic to write about. the writing techniques were: diary entry, poem, advertisement, article, letter, and a conversation. then, each student in the group were to choose one by random (we did this by writing the writing techniques on small pieces of paper and shaking it in a container and then picking one without looking). some of my friends wrote about music and stuff like that, but i don't really want that. i want something different. haha, i told my other friends i might want to write about nature media (sounds of a waterfall, the birds, etc.) and then they told me it didn't even have anything to do with media :P (just to make sure.. is it? :P). my teacher said you could write anything about media, even if it means you'll write about hearing a song on the radio while you're in a car going somewhere.
anyhow, please do suggest me anything about media (including music, newspapers, etc.). you never know, i might get interested and write about it :)

moreResolved Question: Did Zionism replaced the Torah with nationalism? These Jews said so in the Washington Post this week!!!!!?
Washington Post, May 2nd 2010:
The True Facts About Traditional Jews and the State of Israel
Recently, self-proclaimed Jewish leaders launched a provocative campaign of newspaper advertisements regarding the policies of the American administration on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Perhaps some are left with the impression that these individuals indeed represent American Jewry.
The fact is, they represent only themselves.
We, traditional Torah Jews, are distressed and appalled by these ads, as well as by the Zionists' tactic of abusing American Jewry to advance their agenda. Therefore, we hereby publicize the following facts:
Fact: Zionism is not Judaism.
The Zionist ideology is fundamentally anti-Torah. Zionism has not only denied the fundamental Jewish belief in Heavenly Redemption; it has created a pseudo-Judaism which replaces the Torah with nationalism.
Thus, the State of Israel cannot – and should not – claim to represent worldwide Jewry, nor should the Zionist State be identified as a Jewish State.
Certain groups may argue that Jerusalem is "higher than politics." However, according to the Torah, Jerusalem has no relation to politics at all. The holiness of Jerusalem is divine and does not depend on who governs it.
True Torah Jews are outraged by this ongoing ploy, in which the Zionists attempt to create the impression that the holy Torah is behind their hard-line, nationalistic goals. It is not!
Fact: Traditional Jews are loyal to the United States government.
At the time of the destruction of the Holy Temple and the exile of the Jewish People, the great Biblical prophet Jeremiah proclaimed G-d's message to all Jews: "Seek out the welfare of the city to which I have exiled you, and pray for it to G-d, for through its welfare will you have welfare." (Jeremiah 29:7) For millennia, this has been a cornerstone of Jewish conduct.
As American Jews, we pray for the wellbeing and prosperity of the government of the United States of America, headed by Honorable President Barack Obama.
And of course, we continue to pray for the safety and wellbeing of Jews all over the world, including those in the Holy Land.
The blurring of the boundary between Judaism and Zionism jeopardizes the safety of Jews living all over the world, including our brethren in the Holy Land.

moreResolved Question: who really controls the news?
i worked for a short time selling advertising for a local newspaper owned by a big corporation. does that sound a little off kilter?
the money was great, the newspaper policies were not. we were told what we could print and how we could print it.
readership is down because there is nothing in the paper. yesterdays news tomorrow. we used to at least read the paper for a more in depth story behind the news headlines. when it became the advertisement for special interest groups and special interest money we quit.
reporters at one time reported the news, now they report their views, their special interest gets the special place and wording.
but the sorriest part of this is that the advertisers are the ones that truly have control. without them their is no paychecks. and they are not pulling their money. why not?

Property owned by Lee was advertised for sale, and written offers to purchase were invited. I viewed the property and communicated with Lee several times after the advertisement was published in local newspapers. Lee had accepted my offer to purchase the property for RM150, 000. There was a small house located at the middle part of that piece of property. There was also no clear agreement on the sale of the small house which Lee wished to sell separately, although the matter was discussed between the parties. Lee denied that he had decided to go on with the sale if the house was not sold separately. Lee was anxious, however, to effect a quick sale as he was desirous of leaving Malaysia permanently to England.

To provide good-quality fertilizer, each bag should contain at least 30 pounds of compost but no more than 40 pounds of sewage. 2.The National Credit Union has $250,000 available to invest in a 12-month commitment. The money can be placed in Treasury notes yielding an 8% return or in municipal bonds at an average rate of return of 9%. Credit union regulations require diversification to the extent that at least 50% of the investment be placed in Treasure notes. Because of defaults in such municipalities as Cleveland and New York, it is decided that no more than 40% of the investment be placed in bonds. How much should the National Credit Union invest in each security so as to maximize its return on investment?
3.The advertising agency promoting the new Breem dishwashing detergent wants to get the best exposure possible for the product within the $100,000 advertising budget ceiling placed upon it. To do so, the agency needs to decide how much of the budget to spend on each of its two most effective media: (1) television spots during the afternoon hours and (2) large ads in the city's Sunday newspaper. Each television spot costs $3,000; each Sunday newspaper ad costs $1,250. The expected exposure, based on industry ratings, is 35,000 viewers for each TV commercial and 20,000 readers for each newspaper advertisement. The agency director, Mavis Early, knows from experience that it is important to use both media in order to reach the broadest spectrum of potential Breem customers. She decides that at least 5 but no more than 25 television spots should be ordered; and that at least 10 newspaper ads should be contracted. How many times should each of the two media be used to obtain maximum exposure while staying within the budge? Use the graphical method to solve.
