I have been doing lots of photography work for about 3 years now. Just now have I taken it to a professional level and started doing portrait photography for families, children, couples and more. Although I like to do nature photography, I feel like I specialize more in portrait photography. To me, I am rather good with what I do with what little schooling I have had with photography. College is not an option right now, and most likely won't be for a few years due to lack of money. I do, however, take a lot of free online 'classes' and read alot about it. I don't take the classes to learn how to take pictures, I can do that wonderfully with just my talent, I like to learn more about exposure, camera settings, lighting, and other tips and suggestions. My problem is that a lot of people think to be a photographer you have to have schooling and lots of it. I am also fairly young, almost 19. I have the professional equipment that my husband and I bought prior to advertising my work, and I have a lot of experience. I think the pictures and your professionalism should prove it self when I do a person or families shots, but the thing is, I get a lot of people who look past me because of my lack of schooling and age. My prices are extremely cheap, below $100, mostly below $75, and I am confident in my work. What tips would you give me to bring in more customers? I am in the process of learning GIMP and continue reading all about new things with photography. Is there any PROFESSIONAL photographers on here that have made it where they want with out schooling? Open Question: How to avoid craigslist flagging your ads?

I have a legit business, but I would like to try to get my advertisements out to a nationwide audience for my website. It is not spam, but trying to do whatever I can to get more traffic and information out about my website. It really is frustrating...it seems like hard work can't pay off anymore. I get this website, now I can't get circulated well on Google unless I'm paying to have my ads show up on the first pages of the search. I can't get traffic up to be a first page without getting my website out there, and I can't get my website out there if there's no way to do that. So anyway, what can someone do to get traffic to their website and ads free of charge. I'm not looking for a "easy way out"...I don't want to spam any sites, I'm not trying some "get-rich-quick" scheme. i want a stable career and want to live a comfortable life, help my family financially, maybe own a business some day... engineering seems to be a good choice for that ...i do have some interest in computer engineering or electrical engineering (mostly curiosity about how things work ) so i thought one of those too would be best for me BUT heres the thing ...on top of being just okay in math, i also have an interest in drawing and art ( i draw anything thats in a photograph) my family thinks i have talent and it would be a shame to let that go. id like to get better at it but i dont want to end up a starving artist, i thought about graphic design and advertising but theres just sooooo much competition. now just because i can draw doesnt mean ill do good in graphic design, in fact ive done some research and graphic design has very little to do with actual drawing (it has to do more with the creativity that the artist supposedly has) ...and the way things are going graphic designers are prbly going to end up being the new starving artist from what ive been told (feel free to correct me if im wrong) i dont want to give up my drawing abilities, but i want to earn a good living my plan is to major in comp eng. or elec. eng. then open an internet cafe and take care of all the repairs myself and as well as offer my professional services ... then i planned to take a course in web design to make some extra money on the side and once my business is stable enough to hire someone to manage it for me id try to work from home and take up drawing, painting, art as a hobby .....what do you think about it? does this seem realistic? will i still be able to enjoy drawing and art? i dont mind the hard work i have to put into majoring in engineering ...all good things in life require hard work and dedication... i just dont want to waste the skill i have for drawing ....so yeah please let me know what you think about my situation, any advice that you can offer, any corrections you may want to point out, any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated ...thankyou for your time more

My husband and I moved into a very large home with my daughter and her husband 3 years ago because my grandson (age 6) was born with kidney disease and has a need for lots of care. He also has immune deficiency so he is home schooled and we limit his contact with the public. We chose the house we are in because it was more than enough to accommodate two families under one roof and it sits on nearly an acre lot which provides are little guy lots of room in the outdoors. He doesn't have the luxury of playground play with friends, parks, etc so this was a perfect setting. We have been perfect tenants~ always pay our rent on time, have made many improvements to the delight of our landlord but I am beginning to feel that as long as she benefits, she is happy but if it is a benefit to us, she fights us. We lived here for 3 years and had a trampoline. The trampoline was provided for my grandson mainly to help him get out his energy and build good muscle tone. With the exception of some cousins, no other children visit. She asked us to remove it when she discovered it because her insurance company made a spot check and was going to drop her. I understood, we removed it, and promised our little guy something else that would be fun. My husband put up a basketball hoop. She wanted it down because it had 4 screws in the wood. We told her we would putty and repaint. We had to take it down. So we thought about a free standing basketball set-up but in our looking, we ended speaking with a Manager at Home Depot who had heard of our little guy and they want to donate him a complete swing set with slide and a "look out" platform. We didn't think there would be a problem. It's personal property, doesn't hook up to the house. We were so excited and since Home Depot wanted to make this an "advertised donation" through our local paper, we did what we had to and notified the landlord of Home Depot's proposal. Although her insurance company has no problem with it, she is concerned about the grass and "what if he falls and hurts himself?" For God sake- he can fall out of anyone of your 4 trees that he climbs. As far as the grass, this is not a well groomed "yard" by any means. It is more "field". But we still promised her that we would make any repairs to the yard but she says no! He needs and deserves to experience life as a "child". He is cooped up at home most of his life with the exception of hospital stays, sometimes a month at a time. Even though I know we can't fight her on this, I feel she is being ridiculous and unkind to a child who might not be with us at any moment. We are considering a move. But I am curious if she has the right to limit our personal property purchases? We do carry our own insurance. I almost feel this is discrimination against a disabled child's need or at the very least, just plain mean.I would love to buy my own property. But because of limited insurance, we pay for a substantial amount of his $100K annual medical bill instead of relying on tax payer dollars. So kudo's to you and the additional jab you added instead of just telling me she has "rights" which would have been sufficient.What is wrong with you people? This child is on a feeding machine and must be tended to every 2 hours. Family should be available before bringing in state paid nursing. Do you people lack family obligation? more

When I was 19 I got my first credit card with credit for a whole $300. I was contacted by Ramada Plaza resorts and folded like a cheap chair for a "free" vacation. I almost included 3 of my best friends. After the fact, I checked it out and although it was legitimate, it was not free. Meals, airfare to Florida, taxes turned out to be $2000+ per person. Luckily they had only charged my card for the $300 but were demanding the balance. I fought it and won. I contacted 'Phone Busters' who advised me it was legitimate but what it really cost, and that I could probably book a vacation of my choice for much, much less. The ones I love are the companies who advertise diet supplements, make-up, etc. for a free one-month trial...all you pay is the shipping. Then the next month your credit card is billed for $79.95 and good luck getting a human on the line to cancel! How about you? (and I just about bought the Slap Chop...good thing I researched that one first!) more

I had an interview with Premiere Productions Inc. for an Event and Wedding Planner position that they had advertised on Craigslist. I was interviewed by one person and she told me that I was perfect fit for the position and company which was odd to me because she hardly asked me any questions about my background and qualifications. The day after the interview I received an email and call from a man named Joshua Komer who told me that the position would require me to pay Premiere Productions Inc. $3500 to $11,000 for their training which they did not mention in their job listing or during the in person interview. Since when do you have to pay a company thousands and thousands of dollars for 12 weeks of training as a prerequisite for a job? I told him that I was looking for a legitimate job and career opportunity. I expressed my reservations and concerns about the costs associated with their training program. Joshua told me that they could assist me in taking out a loan and line of credit in my name to finance the training. He also made it a point to assure me that I wouldn't have a problem paying the loans off quickly because I would be making lots of money through various internships during the training program. If that's the case then why do I need to pay them so much money in advance and why can't they take it out of the earnings I'm going to make while I'm being trained. This fellow Joshua sounded like a used car salesman. I consulted a friend of mine who happens to be an attorney and he told me that this sounds very hokey and thinks that they're trying to convince me to take out a loan so that they get all the money up front and will be in the free and clear once I realize that Premiere Productions Inc. is a fraudulent scheme at which time the only recourse I will have is to deal with both Premiere Productions Inc. and the bank to seek financial restitution. Then Joshua proceeded to tell me that he is currently an Event Producer at Premiere Productions Inc. and was in my shoes just a few shorts months ago, but took a leap of faith and paid for their training program. If Joshua is really an Event Producer, then why is he spending all this time trying to sell honest job seekers on the hopes and false promises of their paid training program when he should be planning events and weddings as he was allegedly trained to do. I asked to speak to his supervisor and I was told that I would be contacted by a lady named Maria Cook. When Maria contacted me over the phone, I pressed her for more details regarding the training and job. I could not get a straight answer out of her regarding how I was going to get paid while enrolled in the training program. Although that didn't prevent her from trying to coax me into trying to sign a contract to pay them $11,000. When I told Joshua and Maria that I would not be signing up for their training program they got very hostile and angry. In addition I kept receiving hostile and harassing emails from them for several days. Is it me or is their job posting for Event and Wedding Planners a good ole bait and switch tactic to get people to pay money to get training for placement into a non-existent job? I have checked into the pricing of most every advertised "get you degree online here" programs that are advertised on tv and on webpages...WTF???? What is wrong with these people? There prices per credit hour are outrageous and highly unjustified and downright greedy and hec. WTF is the deal? They are in fact...so very greedy and ill priced.that most of them after spending 30 minutes navigating all over their site..you still will not have found ANY info on their cost for tuition...which makes it seem like it is a F***ing SECRET or somthing!!! i have had to write to most of them or fill out their little crap and let them bombard me with freakin' phone calls...just to find out or get any idea at all of their cost...that is how embearassed these people are of their greed...the go out of their way to absolutley avoid the issue on their FAQ pages and all the rest of their website areas.... Why is it so stupidly expensive at the "Online Only" colleges...you all know the names of them. University of Phoe***, Wald** University., etc... How in the world do they justify this staggering sticker shock of tuition fees when they should automatically be so much cheaper because they have no brick and mortar campus to maintain..which should in my mind greatly affect cost... Resolved Question: What can I do about my craptastic apartment complex?

I'm renting at my first apartment here in Colorado Springs. I have had the worst experience. I'll let you know the entire story, so sit back, relax, and grab some popcorn (and maybe a tissue). When I moved in the apartment, there was urine on the toilet, mold in the shower and on the sinks. I complained to the office and they gave us $100 off our second months rent, and sent maintenance to fix the problem. The guys came, asked for a paper towell, spit on it, wiped the mold and told me when it got really bad like that, just repeat. The girl that lives upstairs from us has two children, and was living with her little sister (who is 1 year younger than me). Her little sister used to show up on our doorstep at 2 - 3 in the morning asking for alcohol. She would also show up to complain about the littlest things; usually to ask us to turn down our television. We found out her sister works for the company that owns our complex, at a sister property. Her sister began to call the cops on us repeatedly for anything and everything. One day a cop told us he had been outside our apartment for 10 minutes for a sound complaint to try and hear ANYTHING, but couldn't hear any noise. The problem is, the apartments have really thin ceilings, and a simple casual conversation can be heard word for word. We have to listen to their kids screaming, banging, slamming doors and bouncing bouncy balls on the floor or in the tub. Not only that, but her husband (who recently moved in) sits on his xbox until 4 in the morning yelling at his tv, then proceeds to go into their bedroom and have sex (which I get to listen to). I eventually complained to the BBB, and our complex (naturally) denied the claims. I responded back, and not even a few hours after my response my neighbor upstairs came down screaming at us and cussing us out. I have no idea what started it, but she was able to cite my complaint to the BBB almost word for word. Not to mention, she even knew about the problems I had with a peeping tom. I wrote again to the BBB about how she knew all about our complaint. The BBB closed, yes CLOSED the case, and advised me to seek legal advice. I cannot afford a lawyer. I tried contacting lawyers that advertised free legal advice but I could not get a hold of a single lawyer, and received no calls back. Fed up, I let it go. Now recently, I have had problems with my ceiling POURING water out of the light fixture in our bathroom. It usually happens between 12 AM and 3 AM, and pours for about 10 - 20 minutes, almost completely filling the bucked. The first time, the maintenance guy came and said it was ass water (and yes I mean sewage), and there was nothing he could do. The second time, we went to the office and spoke to a manager and no one ever even showed up to address the issue. The third time they came the day after, and "fixed the problem" by going upstairs. I have no idea what they did. This is now the fourth time and I have just about HAD it. I still can't afford a lawyer, I'm reluctant to go to the BBB, and I can't even freaking find a proper list of the rental laws for the state of Colorado. So my question is, what the hell can I do, or should I do?Go to school. Got a better job. Trying to move. Thanks for nothing. more

I'm 19 know and I post pone my university education because I was unhappy with what I chose. I choose business. And know I don't know what I want to be anymore. I can't decide between some sort of doctor, lawyer, criminal law, or business. I really don't know what I want. I don't know if I want a lot of money, or if I want a lot of free time during my career. I am just confused. I keep thinking that the doctor I would like to be would be 12 years old schooling and I might burn out before I make it, I don't really see myself as strong enough to be in any criminal law position, and business is all that is left. And when I read my business book I feel like shoving it down someone's ass! That's how pissed I am reading my business book, and yet I do it because it's the most "practical" job. I hate almost every major to do with business, and if I do business I will definitely go to graduate school in either MBA or health administration. I like the MBA because it was advertised a lot and makes it look cool. But I like the health administration because even if your not a doctor yo can still do something will health, though I would prefer to diagnose my patients. I have a domain name registered with Google (gdomains through godaddy). I really love having everything handled through Google. I love the email, I'm used to the platform for my DNS settings, I like their file hosting, I have advertising credit, the registration price is perfect and includes 50 usernames and 90 CNAMES. The only thing is I really really don't like the Google Sites hosting platform. I know this isn't ideal but I'm really not ready to do a full transfer to a new host. Basically I just want something that will allow me to redirect my already registered domain name to a basic webpage that I can create through the host site. I have my own layout coded and everything and had my site up on Blogger, which was pretty close to how I want it in terms of features but it wasn't giving me the freedom I wanted to add extra pages and things like that. To water it down my site is basically a "blog" but I need 5 separately archived pages so you can see how that would be a problem with something like Blogger. Especially with my CNAMES because blog sites don't allow naked URLs. I use Webs for free hosting on smaller projects but I'm not sure if I trust them with my domain, plus I can't afford a premium package right now. I don't need the extra storage space or any of the other perks of a package deal right away, I know if I start getting traffic I will need to upgrade but I already have more than enough assets through Google to get started. yes or no I have been a vegetarian for over 4 years now...I say that because it took six months to stop eating meat, one year of the start of that six months to stop eating chicken, and another year and 1/2 to stop eating fish and I've never liked pork (not since I was in grade school)....here's the problem I will never be vegan and feel that there is nothing wrong with eating eggs and minimal dairy in food products, even though I am a self-professed soy-milk drinker myself (I've always hated milk) the only beef I have with this book is how he says to not eat eggs and that even cage free eggs are bad I feel like he is going to radical making that statement. Eggs are very important source of protein. All meat and fish is compared to the egg. There are plenty of ways to get your eggs fresh, like by going to an actual local farm and getting your eggs from a barn. Ok I have a sony vaio laptop running Windows XP. When I run google search through Internet Explorer and then click on the search results it will link me to differing advertising type pages. When I hit the "back" button it will usually go to the correct site. This does NOT happen when I use Mozilla. It's still working fine on Mozilla. I've been sitting here doing a bit of research and coming up short. I thought I might have the Koobface virus as my son is on facebook a lot but I watched a video on youtube telling me what files to look for and those were not on my computer. So I'm back to square one. I then began looking at my processes in Windows Task Manager and I see I have two executable files running called ati2evxx.exe. I've read in several forums where they said this is normal but then I saw a guy write in another thread that there is a trojan with this file name. So how do I know if they are both legit or not? Could this be my virus? If not please let me know. Also, I run AVG free version of the antivirus protection so did it just miss this thing? The other day a friend of mine came over and was helping me to speed up my laptop a bit as it has gotten slow and he was unchecking many of the start up processes. One was the automatic updates for AVG. So did unchecking this auto update maybe cost me a virus? I've since updated AVG but it hasn't resolved the problem. These things can be nightmares. Currently, I'm using mozilla to get around it but I want it gone as I don't know if it will ultimately affect other processes. I started using AcneFree. It has done a good job clearing my acne (just causing some scars, but I have something else for that).
