Resolved Question: php mailer script not fully working in opera or IE?

I'm working on a site that has a contact form. I use a php script to send the email which also contains a section of xhtml confirming to the user that the message has been sent. In firefox, chrome, safari, nn, it works perfectly but in opera and IE the xhtml does not appear. It's a pain as the page has a link back to the site. I've checked that i'm receiving the emails and all the browsers tested DO submit the data without a hitch. i'm not surprised by IE but was slightly disappointed by opera as i find it a great little browser! There should be a conformation page that thanks the user and tells them that the data has been sent. It also has a link back to the site which is important. In firefox, NN, chrome & safari this all happens without any problems and the data is received. When you submit the form in IE and opera the conformation page does not appear, only a blank screen. The information is still sent to the email address though. which is good but my user gets no back to the site link, which is very bad. As for verifiying the info, i haven't even begun to do that but any pointers in the right direction would be fanastic. best regards a more

when i either surf the web using Mozilla Firefox 3 i sometimes get 'Not responding' especially when i'm in Facebook and when i go check who's online, my screen sort of messes up, by this i mean the writing fades to the background and 'Not responding' comes and also when i use (especially) Ableton Live 7, which is a Music software, please help as its doing my head in. i have 20.0gb free space on my laptop , i cant figure out why its causing me problems more

Resolved Question: Why is Internet browsing in Vista slower than XP?

I'v noticed that general internet browsing in windows vista is much slower compared to windows xp no matter which website i'm on. Although, what puzzles me is that theres virtually no diffrence in speed when i'm actually downloading a file from a web site, if anything i would say that its slightly faster in vista. Browsing the internet in vista can get a tad frustrating at times, especially when i boot into xp and surf the internet. i have both operating systems dual booting on my laptop and they are both maintained well e.g. reguarly defraged, lots of free space, not full of software running in the background etc. Im using firefox and IE in both, same firewall etc. tried wirless internet through router and direct ethernet connection to modem (no diffrence) and im on virgin 2mb internet if that makes any diffrence. the speed diffrence has always been evident since i first installed vista (clean installation btw) has anyone else experienced the same problems? more

I'm currently building a website (just a fairly basic one for myself) using NVU (I think it's called). What's annoying me is that although I can make buttons from images, I can't get them to have a different colour background (for example, like the ask/answer/discover buttons at the top of the page). Can NVU do this? Am I just missing something? Could someone also recomend a good free website design program I could use as an alternative to NVU? Dreamweaver looks great, but I'm not paying hundreds of pounds for it! more

Resolved Question: is my employer alowed to access my emails and private personal web space?

firstly some background. i am in the process of taking my employer to a tribunal for unfair treatment. recently my employer has read all the personal emails i have sent from my work email account and then used the information in one of them to gain access to my personal and private web space. i was using this web space (which i had purposly prevented search engines from accessing), to hold private letters / documents, so i could access them remotely. i gave access to one of the letters to a fellow employee who needed to read one, by way of a link to the specific file in an email. my employer used this emailed link to read the letter, which contained a comment about my employer. and now, unbelievably, they say they are taking me to court for defamation! because i sent the link to a peer, they say that that amounts to publication? are they really alowed to read my email, my snail mail, access my private web space, and then sue me for something i wrote in free speech? more

I would like to know what good software can I use to create web graphics,animated gifs,borders,backgrounds, etc. Some software seems to have templates, but what can I use to make animated gifs from scratch. For example, I seen an animated pic of a skull with it's eyes lighting up. I imagine the skull is drawn on paper than scanned on a pc and animated. Anyone know how gifs are animated from scaratch? Photoshop, dreamweaver and macromedia flash are waaayyyy too pricey. I want to start creating my own web graphics rather than getting them off free sites. more
