Voting Question: scammed by New Faces Development Centre in Hicksville...Plz help!!?

Hi! I was stopped at Roosevelt Field Mall by one of the scouts of New Faces Development...He said that this company provided exposure so that I could land into a job in acting or modelling. They gave me a call immediately and booked my interview appointment at New Faces immediately. When I went there it all looked so real....with several people waiting in line to be actors or models...There was music...A TV screen advertising IMTA and showing prominent successful prominent actors who had become successful in life. They asked me to fill out a form...Then this guy called Tim called me in for interview ....and he seemed like he was in a hurry and busy becoz his office was so full of people....He just asked me why I was there and told me that I could do this as a hobby and had a lot to offer in the entertainment industry....He showed me a folder filled with pictures of people that they had photographed at New faces and they had appeared in magazines and print ads....And he had so many of those fotoes...It all sounded so legit. Then he showed me his price list sheet which had all the prices of the fotoes listed....some of them were so costly like over 2100 etc...I told him that I was not working and did not have so much money to pay for them. There was a price for photographing 1 look listed for $750. Then he said "I will give you a discount....I will give you 3 looks for $750". I thought it was a good deal and gave him my credit card. He charged my credit card. Then he said ..."lets get started with the first look photoshoot today...and you come back day after tommorrow to shoot the next two looks with more clothes." He then showed me the make up room where their make up artist did my makeup and their photographer took my photoes.....Then as I walked out of there I felt a bit uneasy....becoz in that meeting he had asked me not to tell anyone about the money that I paid!!....So, I decided to check the internet and OMG...I found a whole bunch of articles stating that it is a scam!! and ripoff reports that they have been reported to BBB also...I printed out some of those ripoff reports and went back yesterday to the New faces center. I told him "I have found reports that you are a scam and want my money back. You have been reported to the BBB". Then he said " Macys, HomeDepot etc have scam reports too but do people stop going there? And now you see scam reports against us....I am not going to let that stop me from doing my business ...We have been in business for 16 years...I have my daughter working for me too....And look at all these people we have placed in the industry."....I said "I dont want to continue this any more and want my money back". He said "Well you took pictures already right?" I said "I have called my credit card people already and have asked them to stop the payment you charged me". He said "You cant just walk into a restaurant and pay there and then cancel the credit card transaction the next day...Thats illegal...YOU are scamming us."....He further said " And you took pictures with us....and look at our price list...We have 1 look for $750...and I was being nice to you by giving you the other two looks for FREE". I argued " But you didnt tell me that the other two looks are free...you just said that you were giving me a discount. So, you can divide the $750 by 3 and deduct $250 and give me back $500 at least". He then went back to his list and said "No!!....Our list says that 11 look was for $750...and I was giving you the other two looks for free. Dont change our words...You are scamming us by changing our words."..So basically he was not going to give me my money back. In the end I asked him to give me my CD of pics...and he said I will have to come back next week to get it plus I will have to pay $45 for the CD also (which was part of the agreement). So, I couldnt argue the fact that his price list had $750 for 1 look and he got me to pay it by telling me about this "discount" and photographing me the same day. So, when I got back I called my credit card people and asked them to let the $750 go through since I couldnt argue his price list. And now I have to go back to get my CD. But I feel scammed. I feel he shouldnt have gone back to his original price list of $750 per look after telling me that he was giving me a discount. And now he is telling me that I am scamming him !!...Plus he told me that "BBB was a Bunch of Bullshit...that gets complaints everyday..."...He said " You cant just listen to negative side of things...You have to listen to positive side of things too.."....Plus he looked at my copy of ripoff reports that I confronted him and told me that the complaints were 6 years old....and he was not believing them!! What should I do? Can something be done to stop these people from extracting money out of people by foolCan anyone out there PLEASE HELP ME?? PLEASE... THANKS. more

Resolved Question: Is it illegal to use a free newspaper to distribute your own flier?

I have a friend in Oregon who owns a delivery business. In order to save on advertising he collected a bunch of free newspapers, then printed out some fliers, and attached his fliers to the free newspapers and started handing them out. He got a call from the editor of the free newspaper saying that he couldn't do that. Can they legally stop you from getting free newspapers, attaching a flier, and giving them away? If the answer is yes, please specify why and what law he is breaking. more

Resolved Question: Is this an illegal form of advertising?

Okay, so I'm 14 and I've been using this site called FreebieJeebies, and to get my free item, which in this case is an iPhone 4 - 32GB SIM FREE, I have to get 29 referrals, which basically means I have to get 29 people to sign up at this link http://apple.freebiejeebies.co.uk/338359 So far, from YouTube videos and just posting around forums, I've made 1 referral, and at this rate it's going to take ages to get my iPhone. I want to use the methods that the guy in this video teaches http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUOku7gPRvY So I want to like go around and whenever I go out and I like go to public toilets, I will put like little business cards down or like flyers. I was just wondering though, is this illegal? I will be like leaving them on tables deliberately and when I go camping soon I want to use this as a chance to place more around the village we're going to. The business card will just have "Free iPhone" printed at the top, with some information underneath and then a website I will be setting up for it. So here are my questions... 1) So, what parts of this are illegal? 2) How much trouble could I get into for this? 3) Am I likely to get into trouble? P.S. It may sound stupid, but on the business card I'm going to say that I'm a woman and that the website is run by me, to bring in more people. P.S.S. I don't want any answers saying this website is fake, I know for a fact it's real.I don't care if it was illegal for the website to make me want to sell this idea, I'm not selling it. Also, could you please just answer the questions I ask? I only want to know about if it's illegal to place around the business cards. more

Resolved Question: scammed looking for a place on craigslist?

I was looking for a place on craigslist and i emailed my inquiries to the email address provided and this email was sent back to me from karen@dallasgazette.net Hello, Thanks for taking the time to email me about the place. We thought we had the place rented last week to a young couple, but communication has dropped off. you are the first person to email about it since we put it back on the market . It would only be fair that we gave you the first shot at the property. Normally, we would prefer a year lease, but would also be open to shorter terms. I'm sure that you will want to see the property before making a final decision. I would simply give you the address and let you swing by, but my husband is against blindly advertising an empty home online. Rest assured the home has been up kept properly and had a good cleaning and fresh coat of paint. Basic utilities are currently on, but we expect that you would get them put into your name fairly quick. If you want to go ahead and schedule a time to see the property, go to the link below and print off the free copy of your report. Your score isn't necessarily important, we're just interested in seeing that there are no evictions / landlord related judgments. Here is the link: HERE I am very open as far as appointments go to show the property. Any morning after 10am is fine. Just let me know when you have everything printed and be sure to leave me a contact number to reach you at and any desired time. I will call you to confirm a time and choose a place to meet. Thanks for looking, So, I got a credit report my.creditreport.com and i was wondering if it was a legit site. then she told me to click on this link (http://forms.aweber.com/form/64/1434016664.htm ) and stupidly i did but it led me to a blank page. Then i found out it was a scam. Through all this will this person be able to access any of my information such as my social security number or my credit card number? if so what should i do next?i actually didn't email this person my SSN or my credit card number but i had to put it in that website (my.creditreport.com) and i was wondering if they would be able to somehow access my information from this webstie? more

Resolved Question: How do i go about starting up my own magazine?

My name is Mark. I am a creative practice BA Honours degree graduate of Newcastle college. Specialising in Graphic, Editorial and Web Design. Since completing my degree this May I have had some time out and have tried a couple of full time jobs in fields other than that my degree is in. In this time I have had some thinking time, and have decided to give an idea I had throughout my Degree a real shot. I have always wanted to one day run my own magazine. My intentions originally were to work for an existing magazine for some added experience and contacts, but have found since leaving University that there is no work outside London. I do not however want this setback to stop me from achieving my eventual goal. Therefor I intend to take on board every ounce of advice that is available to me. I have never done anything like this, and although i have the editing skills, The business and startup side of things I have no idea about. Some of my questions may sound ridiculous for me not to know, but please don't judge me. I really am lost and need help with a direction for my idea. 1. Where do I start? 2. How many people is realistic to start up the magazine? 3. How is it funded from the start? 4. How do free magazines fund the staff wages and printing etc? 5. How do you sell advertising space in your magazine? 6. What is the going rate of advertising space in magazines? 7. Who would print and bind the magazine? 8. How do you fund mass batches? 9. Once you have a full magazine, its printed, its bound and its in boxes in your living room...... how do you get it on the shelves in the supermarkets, news agents and WH Smiths. 10. How do you advertise your magazine? Any answers to these queries would be greatly appreciated. And/or anyone interested in joining me in my dream please get in touch. wilsonmarkalan@yahoo.co.uk more

Resolved Question: Economical ways to promote a flight in a WWII B-17 Flying Fortress near Boston Aug 20-22, 2010?

I’m the President of the largest EAA (www.EAA.org) chapter in the Greater Boston area and we’re a 501(c)(3) public charity, but with a very small budget … We’ll be hosting the EAA (also a 501(c)(3)) Museum’s WWII B-17 Flying Fortress bomber known as “Aluminum Overcast” at the Lawrence Municipal Airport for a 3-day tour stop August 20-22, 2010 – but would love some advise and/or contacts: EAA requires that the host chapter (that’s us, EAA Chapter 106 – www.EAA106.org – see link for B-17 flyer on home page) provide all the advertising for both the flights (morning) and ground tours (walk through the plane in the afternoon) – times tbd. With a limited budget and a down economy, our chapter needs to be even more creative than normal in our advertising. In the past (and we’re doing these this year, too), we’ve posted flyers in pizza shops, convenience stores, grocery stores, etc – and have taken some to hotels near the airport. We’ve also posted our event to on-line aviation calendars (Aflyer, AOPA, EAA, etc). We’ve tried newspaper advertising, but that was too expensive for the results. We also try to get main-stream press (TV, major newspapers, radio) to cover the event and they can sign up for a free press flight if they agree to give coverage. Btw - If you are the right contact at a major news media in the greater Boston area – or can give me a personal contact at one of these media outlets, please contact me at: (substitute item in parenthesis with item indicated): EAA106(dot)President – then: (at)gmail.com WHERE WE NEED IDEAS: We’ve looked at Groupon and LivingSocial, but their fees (from my research) typically eat about 50% of the coupon price (which seems to be about 50% off). So a ticket for a flight on the B-17 which is $425 at the tour stop ($399 if booked in advance) would cut what EAA would receive to be just above $100 which would not even begin to cover the actual cost of the aircraft fuel & maintenance (parts from WWII are either rare and expensive or have to be hand-made …), hauling a maintenance trailer to the tour stop, etc. Since the flight price has been held for the past few years, but fuel and maintenance costs have gone up, I have to believe the museum must be operating the B-17 on minimal margin and needs most of the ticket price to cost the costs (which include the costs of flying it to us …). So a long answer to explain that we just cannot afford to offer a Groupon (or equivalent). We also cannot afford the locally mailed coupons. So – We need ideas … but economical ones … minimal printing & postage – and most of our members are older and don’t twitter, Facebook, etc. One idea I had was to snailmail flyers to upscale hotel concierges (something for a visitor to do), but is there any easy way (other than search every high-end chain hotel name one-by-one) to find a list of just the upscale hotels and addresses? What are some of YOURideas for getting the word out? THANKS for any helpful ideas! Resolved Question: Should I take H&R Block to court?

I had a baby in November 2009. Since my boyfriend got his W-2 before me (in January), we decided to let him claim our son and have H&R Block do his taxes so we could get a RAPID refund. The preparer didn't know what he was doing. He ended up opting him out of the Earned Income Credit (without asking), typing in 2 months for the amount of time our son was "living in the home" for 2009 and accidentally checked 'yes' for the question "Did this person make more than $3500 in 2009?". When he was all finished he told us my boyfriend's refund would be about 900 dollars. I thought something was wrong, but didn't say anything and took his word for it. We paid for the rapid loan and we were expecting to get the money on our card within 2 days. I told my mother, who has been doing my taxes for years and never made a single mistake, and she pointed out that we were, in fact, supposed to get the EIC and Child Tax Credit. She got online and printed out the Publication from the IRS's website stating that if a child was born in 2009, you put 12 months, regardless of what month they were born in. They called my boyfriend 6 days later and told him there was a hold on the card and he had to come back up there to sign a paper to take the money off hold. We went back up there and showed them the mistake they made and ask that they amend them. The manager fixed it and gave us the forms to mail out and we asked if we still had to pay the fee they charged us to do this. He stated that we still have to pay the fee because that money is going to them for filing it originally. Yet H&R Block has the "Maximum Refund Guarantee" which states that if they don't give you your maximum refund you're entitled to, the tax preparation is free. We called the headquarters and even they are refusing to give us the money back. We mailed off the amended form and we are STILL waiting to get the check in the mail. We really needed that money to get our air conditioning fixed in our only car, not to mention we have a 6 month old and its 80 degrees outside in Virginia Beach right now. My question is should I take them to court? Why should we have to pay them for something THEY screwed up? I'm really not trying to make a big deal out of this, but this is just ridiculous and not fair. In my eyes, its false advertising for them to make a promise and not live up to it. more

Voting Question: irritated with spouse?

I am working on opening a business, and at this exact moment I don't have the money to pay for the final touches. Not a problem I will just have to wait a lil bit longer. However I can still use free advertising venues such as twitter an facebook ETC . to promote the (Grand Opening soon ! ) of my business. My spouse is so thick headed, he doesn't take my endeavor serious. ! he thinks I am just screwing around on the computer ( ok, maybe at this exact moment Yes) but it is ticking me off. He just wants me to be a dead head house wife! And basically said so in not so many words. A little about what I accomplished so far : I have managed to land an account with a major manufacture of products. got a website built, managed to set up all the shipping and handling procedures. there is 50 thousand products ...YIKES I still have to pay some last minute graphic stuff and that is what is holding me back. This distribution coincides with my other business ( they go hand in hand) they are both pet related! I have been in this industry for 10 years I know it like the back of my hand. And I am setting myself up to play ball with the big boys petco & petsmart but my spouse just doesn't get it . I am excited , but he isn't. An my spouse thinks I am just farting around. Being cute! , telling me things like "can't you NOT use the computer for 2 days" , "why do you have to promote something that isn't even up yet", "can't you just print flyer's from the computer" Maybe I should go sell Avon ! grrr I Just feel aggravated... any words of encouragement would help! more

Voting Question: Anyone know of alternate disposable phone number such as inumbr?

I have used inumbr for months now. Recently, I was contacted by e-mail, via spamgourmet.com, by a salesman who related my phone number I provided was inactive. I went to inumbr and immediately noticed the website was different. 1st the manage my inumbr option was no longer available. I was prompted to sign up for new account. It would not accept my previous login account. You have to dial your actual number into the site, once this is accomplished you get a passcode from the site, which you provide to the phone call you will shortly recieve from inumbr. You are then prompted to create a new account. I observed that the website advertises the opportunity to TRY inumbr. Once you sign up, make sure you read the fine print. It now states you agree to pay for the service of inumbr and you must provide a credit card. I guess another great free service has went away. Is there another comparable site that provides similar service such as real time call forward, voicemail, do not call option, option to maintain number or let it expire to get another disposable number. I'm not looking for the sites that provide a website address to provide to a person you met at a bar or a site that only provides voicemail capability. I would like a service similar to what inumbr provides at the premium price of FREE. Thanks in advance more

Resolved Question: How much should I charge for my magazine advertising?

Hi. I am currently a 16 year old student and I have decided to make a magazine to give to the students of my school for FREE. The magazine will be 16 sides of A4 and I will be putting on 7 pages worth of advertising per magazine. I will be only printing 600 magazines on a monthly basis at the moment and the cost of the printing including delivery will be £500 per month. Also, per month, I will be wanting to make a bit of profit for example £200-300 if that's possible. So please can someone advise me on what I should charge for a full page or a half page advertisement on my magazine. Also the ads will be in colour. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: How do victims of fraud by CleanWhites and Dazzlesmile initiate a class-action lawsuit?

The numbers have got to be very substantial by now, since this operation has been using misleading advertising to suck people into their scam for a good number of months now. CleanWhites and DazzleSmile are two disgusting operations (or likey 2 different divisions of the same parent scamming operation). As an experienced online shopper, I've never experienced or even heard of such a fraudulent, misleading, operation. The site that I found in the first place, like others have reported, no longer exists. It used a fake blog format with supposed testimony from a housewife who supposed discovered a way to whiten her teeth for free and was sharing this invaluable information to the public so they could also benefit. The site suggested to use CleanWhites in conjunction with DazzleSmile. I remember having to click the same "free trial" box located near the top of the page twice, but the only charges I saw and agreed to were the measly $1 and $2 shipping charges. Many other reasonable people are also being sucked into this scheme due to the DELIBERATELY MISLEADING nature of the way this operation advertises and hides vital information necessary for honest transactions. I didn't discover the scam until the small CleanWhites sample arrived (it was maybe worth $1) and I read the order receipt showing my $.99 charge and "THANK YOU FOR YOUR RISK-FREE TRIAL ORDER!", both in large bold print. At the bottom of the page in small print, however, I noticed that a $79.95 charge would be incurred if I didn't cancel the trial. The DazzleSmile package didn't even include a receipt or any information hinting at how UNFREE these 'trials' actually are. After contacting both divisions of this operation and getting the same "you can't cancel without incurring more ($80) charges" BS, I paid for the shipping and sent the samples back to them. I recorded all correspondence with them, even the the unanswered, unturned calls & useless online chats. I then contacted my bank and reported this fraud. I was transferred to an individual who seemed familiar with this operation, and I was assured I would not be held responsible for further charges. I'll also send the documentation I have to the the respective Attorney General Offices, report it at bbb.org, and ftc.gov, and post this info on the online fraud sites to warn others to stay away until they are shut down and brought to justice. They should also pay monetarily, as well, however, due to the extreme inconvenience and stress they inflict upon their victims. Other victims are also voicing their desire to join a class-action suit against them, but we could use more information prior to moving forward. more

Resolved Question: How do I get my manuscript back.?

I signed a contract ONLY BECAUSE they advertise that it would cost nothing to publish my book, I was so thrilled until I did some research, THEY are the most hated publisher in the world, the ONLY people that have anything good to say about them ..IS THEM ONLY.. they are unscrupulous, takes advantage of the poor and the handicapped, they only do your book so they can bleed you dry, they only sell books TO THE AUTHORS, and if author don't buy them THEY DON'T SELL AT ALL. THEY print they don't publish, They lock you into a 7 YEAR contract,TO take FULL ADVANTAGE of a poor person and EVERYONE else who has ever dealt with them, PLEASE THERE HAS GOT TO BE SOMETHING that someone can do. WE have blinders on when we see the word FREE, but that does not give anyone THE RIGHT to take advantage of you. That is MY LIFE story I wrote it to help or save someone's life and all THAT PUBLISHER wants to do is MAKE MONEY FROM ME FOR MY OWN autobiography. which means I AM THE ONLY one that will be buying MY OWN autobiography. NO bookstores will take their books because of their reputations.please PLEASE SOMEONE OUT THERE HELP ME. IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE to help PLEASE. i am handicapped and poor, I cannot afford a lawyer. CAN U HELP ME PLEASE? more

Resolved Question: Do i need permission to use a companies name and logo on my product.?

I have designed a product and would like to use skateboard companies logos on it. The product is to be used in the skateboard industry and will be clearly branded in it's own right so as not to be confused with the other companies merchandise, I just want to print their names and logos on it. It is not a product any of the companies are producing so there is no conflict, only a free advertising opportunity for them. If I do need permission how do I get it. more

Resolved Question: Questions about joining the military?

I'll be frank, I'm considering joining the U.S. military - most likely the navy or marines - in order to get through college without going in debt. Before I decide, there are some aspects I'm curious about (and would prefer to not ask recruiters as I know they have a quota to fill). Does the military really pay as much for college as it advertises? I've read it depends on which job they're training you for as well, but is there any fine print I have to be concerned about? This will sound spoiled of me, but are you ever allowed to bring any type of media with you (ex: a book or mp3 player to stay sane on the rare chance you have free time)? I expect the answer is no for boot camp, but beyond that...? Secondly, since my high school forced everyone to take the ASVAB, will I have to retake it if I sign up? Following that, I know ASVAB scores determine eligibility, but do they have any influence on ranking or military job consideration? (For reference, I originally got a 91. If the answer is yes to the latter question, what does that mean for me?) ... and I apologize for the length of this. DX more

Resolved Question: I was recently asked to hand out flyers for a friend, should I mail them instead?

Or maybe both? I'm also trying to think of public boards I could post them on, but I'm not exactly sure where to start. His flyers are for window tinting, and they look good. They're printed on glossy paper, with bright ink, a 10% discount is offered on the front, has good information about UV protection and a potential $1500 tax credit, along with a phone number for a free estimate, and a before and after picture. So basically my point is, I think it's a flyer people will pay attention to, and I want to make sure I use it effectively. Eventually I'd like to step it to the next level and buy advertising in the newspaper and such, but you've got to start somewhere. Thanks! :) more

Resolved Question: Has anyone ever been successful in the lonely hearts column in the paper?!?

I was just having a giggle at the desperates posting in the lonely hearts section of the free newspaper. Pete 34, seeks a "medium build female, 20-25 with blonde hair and blue eyes"; do you think he'll get what he wants (to fulfill his sexual fantasies so it seems). Has anyone ever been successful finding love/something meaningful with someone out the newspaper dating column? I know it's similar to Internet dating but I can't imagine the success rate being as high due to the limited availability of the print space, limited amounts of people advertised, price of phone calls, and so on. What are your thoughts, what's the best place to meet potential partners?Additional - most successful was meeting my current partner who lived across road, very traditional eh! I was 'the girl next door'.. well across the road! :) more

Resolved Question: Was I taken advantage of? Work question? What do I do?

Recently I became unemployed and got a job for an advertising firm. I booked appointments over the phone cold calling. However, I only got one sale and my boss thought it would be a good idea to take away my promised base pay because then I'd be more determined to get a sale. She said she would pay for the days i worked w/the guaranteed base. I had to wait 3 days for the check so I went to meetings and was doing print shops. I realized I was wasting time and most ppl. quit by the 2nd day. So on the one of the days I was working for free, I went to a print shop and the owner explained he lost a lot of accounts because of the economy and was really nice. He gave me props for doing the "hardest job" which is selling. I couldn't convince him enough to buy something he couldn't afford at the time even though he wasted my time of driving there. It was hard because my boss did not want me leaving the meeting without closing the deal and if I couldn't convince him of this wonderful service, I would have to use my own cell phone and get her on the phone with him. Sorry this is so long. Well I was quitting anyway right so he told me he wanted to give me memo pads. (5 wrapped up in plastic with his business card on it) It was a way that he got business by having college students/retirees drop them off at businesses around towns. For example, if they need business cards, menus, promotion flyers they remember to call him because of all the memo pads with his name on it. Well I agreed and he put 2 boxes in my car. He explained that he would give me $25 a box. As I was leaving he said, "Yeah if you want to say 8 boxes, I can give you $100." I ignored it and acted like I didn't hear it. So I left the scam job of selling advertising and yesterday I went to 5 different towns and walked up and down the block handing them all out to local businesses. I called him and let him know that I was ready to be paid and he said he would have my money and a couple more boxes. Now I'm 23, I went to college. I suppose I am doing crazier things then I would normally do because of this economy. I went to get paid and he wasn't there. His wife was. She was like, "oh theres 2 boxes outside for you" (there really heavy-no help nothing. I mean it would of been nice. There is 50 per box) Anyway, I was nice and polite and thanked her when I got the envelope with my $50. I opened it up and there was only $25. Obviously this was not a mess up. He changed the price on me! So I told my mom about it and she told me to call him and tell him, that I got paid wrong and where is my money? She said if he pulls something like, Oh you misunderstood. Then tell him to come here and pick the boxes up. I mean he was a "nice guy" but I feel taken advantage of. I did it for 3 hours and used $10 of gas going from town to town. Thats like $5 an hour. I made more money in h.s. cleaning tables. No lie. So what should I do? Do you think this is wrong? I guess I should not have bothered to get involved. ****Oh and the best part is the wife told me that they had several calls from all these local businesses. So me being cute dressed up and smiling as I walked in to all these potential business clients for him worked! How rude? Don't ya think? Oh and he is 25 miles from my house so I am getting his name out where no one has even heard of him in my area. more

Resolved Question: Has anyone tried "moms teeth whitening secret" as advertised on google?

I did. I ordered the free trial out of curiosity. Once I received I called and cancelled the free trial like the website says. I have now found 2 separate charges of $60 usd on my credit card and a $10 membership fee to some nutritional service?? Must have been lots of fine print that I didn't read. Any ways, just wanted to know if anybody else has ordered this and experienced any issues. more

Resolved Question: Consumer rights: Do you think I have any rights on this issue? False advertising?

This is a pretty long one... I ordered some music software from a reputable company in England. The title of the package I ordered was "Ableton Live Suite 8 with FREE nanoKontrol" (nanoKontrol is a controller worth about £60). I noticed in my search of the store that there was also a package titled "Ableton Live Suite 8" for the same price but without the controller. So obviously, I went with the package with the free controller! Then, today I got an email saying that the Ableton Live Suite 7 package is discontinued and that I can select something else for the same value. I was confused as I hadn't ordered Ableton Live Suite 7, I had ordered 8. I looked at the webpage of the package I ordered and in the description under the product title it says in much smaller print "Buy Ableton Live Suite 7 and get a FREE nanoKontrol and upgrade to Ableton Live Suite 8 for free". It also says that the item is "In Stock". Surely if they are selliing something labeled "Ableton Live Suite 8 with FREE nanoKontrol" and I pay the price they are asking AND the product is labeled "In Stock" (and it still is labeled that) then I should get what I paid for??? Even in the order confirmation email it says: Order No. ***** Order Confirmed Ableton Live Suite 8 with FREE nanoKontrol £479.99 Confirming what I believed I was paying for... Do you think they should send me the package as shown in the invoice/ order confirmation? They may have to send me Ableton Live Suite 8 and the nanoKontrol as seperate packages instead of all in one box offer, which would put them at a slight loss. Do you think I have any rights on this issue? I think it might just be a website mistake but it is their job to keep things up to date. It's kindof false advertisement, or at least deceptive advertisement. I didn't read the description because I trusted the title and assumed the product would be what it said as I had read a lot about it already and know exactly what Ableton Live suite 8 contains. The nanoKontrol was just the icing on the cake. I know some of you might say "you should have read the small print" but I trusted this company (still do for some reason) and I presumed that, when I do a search for a product, and the product shows up with the exact title I am looking for and I hit "Add to basket" and pay for it then that it is the product it say's it is... Sorry about this rant but I hate when something gets taken away from you, especially when it's hard to get anything free these days!! :P Let me know your thoughts and what you would do. more

Resolved Question: Any tips for creating free business cards?

I need some clean, professional business card templates, but I'd love to find a free site rather than paying for them. Anyone know of a great site for free business cards that won't make you print their logo all over it?!? What's the best info to include if you are advertising freelance work rather than a company? Thanks :) more

Resolved Question: how is it that Vista Print can advertise on ebay, "250 free business cards + free shipping"?

I tried this, filled out all my info -cc #, called customer support and they say either or, free cards or free shipping. There is no * or fine print anywhere on their ad. Plain and simple, it says 250 free cards "+" free shipping. How can they lie like this? more

Resolved Question: I need some ideas for advertising my business. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone, I run a few small internet businesses and, now I have 3 months from studying, would really love to make the most of my time and get some serious advertising done; something I haven't had time to do due to my studies. Only problem is I have no idea where to start, at the moment I am on social network websites and one of my business is about video tutorials so is on YouTube. I really need some more ways of advertising my businesses!! I can print flyers, leaflets, business cards but I would be interested in some 'free' or cheaper ways of advertising. I don't mind if it involves me giving up a whole day doing it. Thanks everyone!! Becky xx more

Voting Question: Advertising a Newly Started Business?

I want to start a business touching up people's home photos. For example, lightening the pictures, sharper contrasts, certain special effects (B&W, sepia, specific color, soft focus, blur, remove acne/birthmarks, etc.), and so on. My business will be mostly run online - they email me the pictures, tell me what they want done, I do it and email it back to them. Or, for an extra fee, I can print it out on high-quality photo paper and mail it to them. I'm even offering the first few people who contact me everything free, just so I can show what I can do. I've posted several ads on Craigslist, but no one's contacted me. How else and where else should I advertise? more

Resolved Question: why do people wear clothes with abercrombie and hollister splattered across the chest?

I see it all the time, girls and even guys wear tshirts with abercrombie and hollister on the chest, and its just a colored tshirt with print on it. Why do they do this, if its just the stores way of free advertising, by making them a walking billboard, and what there wearing just gets the store more money? Its not that i hate people who wear abercrombie and hollister etc. im just really curious. more

Voting Question: How do I explain this to the stationary shop without being a complete witch?

Ok they took the LIBERTY WIHTOUT asking me and printed their name and phone number on the back of my very expensive stationary. That is free advertising for them, they did not tell me it was there when I picked them up, and didnt think that I would notice. I paid $20+ for these thank you notes for a pack of 10. I asked on here erlier and they said that was COMPLETELY rude, and to demand that they be reprinted. How can I do that without sounding like a witch because I konw the lady who owns the shop.I DID NOT SIGN ANYTHING!!!!!!$20 stationary from the shop I ordered if from is hun. They usually do like $7-$10 stationary. more

Resolved Question: Stationary shop did this to my thank you notes WITHOUT asking?

I purchased some upscale stationary and thank you notes and the shop took the LIBERTY (without asking) and decided to print their shops name and phone number on my stationary and thank you notes! Should I not get a discount for that-that is FREE advertising for them, and it they used a funky print and these are VERY VERY elegant thank you notes! Also, these were like $15 for a box of 10 cards PLUS the printing fee! I was angry when I turned them over, they were going to executives and important people-should they not have asked first especially with the FUNKY font that they used and these were very elegant thank you notes?? I am upset, concidering that I know the person who owns the shop! more

Umm no- they were not wedding invitations or something like that they were just really really expensive thank you notes as they were going to executives and such. Resolved Question: Tarot Readers: Where do you advertise?

I'm a Tarot reader and spell caster, I also do numerology. I have my consultation office at home. I also provide my services at people's houses or offices. What I'm finding really difficult is finding appropriate places to advertise. I placed a few ads in the paper, but that gets very expensive very quickly. Also, I'm using online free classifieds. Where else should I advertise? I need ideas that aren't very expensive. Should I print out flyers and give them away? Thanks a lot.Wow, so many mean people.
