i recently made a website www.amyegglestonejewellery.co.uk and im wondering what the easiest way of advertising it is online and offline. Ive had leaflets handed out...and ive put the link on facebook everyday for friends to see...but i need more suggestions...preferably free( i can get leaflets printed for free)both...you can view the site in dollars, euros and pounds so i can ship various...altho come to think about it im not sure how to up the postage for posting internationally compared to uk postage.... if you type my addy in google it brings it first, but im trying to find ways for it to show if someone types for example "handmade jewellery" more

Resolved Question: Do i need permission to use a companies name and logo on my product.?

I have designed a product and would like to use skateboard companies logos on it. The product is to be used in the skateboard industry and will be clearly branded in it's own right so as not to be confused with the other companies merchandise, I just want to print their names and logos on it. It is not a product any of the companies are producing so there is no conflict, only a free advertising opportunity for them. If I do need permission how do I get it. more

Hi everyone, I run a few small internet businesses and, now I have 3 months from studying, would really love to make the most of my time and get some serious advertising done; something I haven't had time to do due to my studies. Only problem is I have no idea where to start, at the moment I am on social network websites and one of my business is about video tutorials so is on YouTube. I really need some more ways of advertising my businesses!! I can print flyers, leaflets, business cards but I would be interested in some 'free' or cheaper ways of advertising. Flyers advertising over 200 knocked off DVD titles. But i got a new one "train to game" just came there now, professionally printed card advertising for you to be part of the 1.5 billion quid games industry, it also claims by joining them you can beat the recession. Its specifically designed for school leavers. To find out more phone free on an 0845 number. Thats not a free number thats lo-call. How do these parasites get away with it? Its like selling flood insurance to an ArabEvan i wouldn't want you to waste your money and for some parasite to earn money by ripping people offJ man: thats it unregulated capitalism in all it's horridness. "Running Costs: • Sales To find out my sales figures I decided to find out what is the average spending of each customer, than I multiply this figure by the average number of customer which I expect to have each day. The average spending of each customer would be £3.5 (piece of cake a cup of coffee) and I am expecting to get about 8 customers per hour. To make my calculations more accurate I decided to visit on of the competitive business which is located in different part of town centre. The main reason of it was find out how many customers they could get within one hour. This research confirmed my predictions, however I am excepting to sales will increase during summer months and Christmas time • Rent My premises is located in market place. By locating my business in such a populated place there is going to be much better opportunity to get more customers because there is a wide range of shops which attract many people. Rent costs me £16,992 per annum. • Wages and employing staff I want to operate my business by myself, however, I will need to employ two members of staff. I will need one full time worker to help me operate the business in general and a second employee to work during the lunch time hours to help with preparing snacks and lunch dishes. Resolved Question: Who knows a free site where l can create a CV and print it ?

I`ve tried two sites now and on completion of the CV, they ask for a fee to print out a "clean" copy. That is to say free of guidance notes they print on every page, which are carried onto my copies, and removed only after payment. Most of the sites advertise Create a Free CV, which you can do, but at the eleventh hour there`s a cost involved. Now l`m not the quickest thing on a keyboard, and l wouldn`t know where to start with creating a professional document, so please can anyone help? more

I currently use FreeWebs to host a small videogame fansite. I enjoy hosting the website and it is gaining popularity. I have to use FreeWebs because I cannot afford to buy bandwith. Please advise, I used to work for an FE College from 2002 - 2006 when i left to join the prison service. Today I have recieved a free newspaper from the college that I used to work for, this newspaper goes all over the city. Inside the newspaper, I am pictured and named as still working for the college as part of an advertising campaign. The photograph was taken in 2002 and i left the college in 2006. I would like to know if this is legal as they have not sought my permission to use my image and have also printed factually information about me. In the meantime I have complained directly to the Principal as I find this inappropriate, but is there anything else I can do? Thank you for any advice. more

Resolved Question: Valuing a small home-based business - your guesses!?

I'm interested in buying a community magazine which is 2 years old. It is a franchise & the original setup costs (and costs if the business is unsold & closes) were £250 + £125 a month, now just £25 a month ongoing fee. Profits seem to be about £4k per year and there are no business assets. There is a network of distribution points, contacts for printing etc. & booked advertising of £2k for the next 2 issues of the magazine. The owner doesn't pay himself a wage so the profit excludes wage costs. What would seem a fair valuation, given the above? In theory, turnover for the magazine could be £40k per annum according to the parent company but turnover has been only £12k pa so far. This is a home-based business and I would be buying the name & the reputation - it's a free magazine. Any help greatly appreciated! more

In a nutshell, all I need to worry about is printing, distribution, content and corporate ads (to fund the whole thing). I'll be able to handle the printing, advertising and distribution side of things, as I've just become Advertising manager for a local newspaper (veggie times). But with regards to content. Is it reasonable and viable to just pay journalists on a freelance basis? I'll be going to uni in London next year, so I shouldn't have any trouble in finding keen uni students to act as journalists (as well as myself). more

I currently run a free online music magazine at www.themusicmagazine.co.uk. We're looking to make the move into print, and will be selling advertising space in order to keep the magazine free. I was wondering; would I have to register as a business in order to do this? Because we'll be receiving money from companies, and it could be quite a lot, I'm unsure whether or not I'd need to be VAT registered and effectively "start-up" a business. Resolved Question: How can I Copyright protect my photographs?

Ever since visiting my local waste disposal tip, and finding an SLR Camera (35mm) for sale, going extremely cheaply!! I have discovered that I have a particular flair for taking photographs, not least a serious passion for this passtime. I would like to donate some of my pictures to my place of work for their advertising brochures, I have offered my photographs free of charge, happily. In return I have been promised full credit for them by having my name printed on the brochure/website, for having taken the actual pictures. I am very happy with this, but what I would like to know is - How can I stop people just taking my photos (from the web, for example), and using them as their own?? I would like to upload them onto the internet, with a view of selling some of my best pictures to help the hobby pay for it's self.
