As I was perusing the net looking at AQHA and APHA halter horses I was seeing a lot of this: http://www.equi-advertising.com/images/sir_cool_skip_bw2.jpg And this: http://www.dianemillerquarterhorses.com/updates/dec12/val263lead.jpg Lotsa this: http://www.halvorsonranch.com/kids%20classic%20style/buckywalkinglg.jpg Somma this: http://www.bertonqh.com/skipforwb.jpg And more of this: http://www.lotsofpinesfarm.com/stallions/bucky/buckyfrm1ds.jpg Then it hit me. I've seen that before. Like this! (Bully Whippet) http://a123.g.akamai.net/f/123/12465/1d/media.canada.com/133a26b3-7939-4ba4-b93e-0c570ecf1751/wendy-1.jpg And this! (Belgian Blue bull) http://www.bio.miami.edu/~cmallery/150/neuro/belgian.blue.jpg Now before you all jump on a bandwagon and think I'm knocking halter horses, lemme ask my question. So all that muscle mass in the bully Whippet and Belgain Blue is attributed to them lacking myostatin, a TGF beta protein, which inhibits muscle differentiation and growth from what I read. Is this condition present in Quarter Horses too? I did some google searches before asking this and really didn't come up with anything pertaining to horses. Does anyone know anything about the possibility of these big muscle-bound horses maybe lacking myostatin? Just curious. I mean, some of the horses I was looking at even had well-defined muscles popping out of their forehead. It just didn't look normal. Feel free to blather on about anything you feel is relevant. I was just wondering if this is something that maybe has been studied, proven or dis-proven or if there is a reason it couldn't be possible at all. The only study I found that was even close pertained to TB race horses and wasn't conclusive. Also, what is your opinion on these big, buff, beefy horses?I know about HYPP. Not all the beefcake horses have it. And actuall HYPP mutates the sodium channels. Yeah, HYPP positive horses tend to be more muscle-bound but the fact is there are some halter-bred horses and horses that go back to Impressive aren't HYPP positive and are still as muscle-bound.@Peanut- Bully Whippets aren't purposely bred but they do happen. It's a genetic condition that happens in the breed from what I understand. The Belgian Blue cattle have a natural genetic mutation that is preserved through linebreeding. They are bred to look like that. I was just wondering if anyone knew about this genetic condition being present in horses.@Angie B- Yeah, their motto is "Leading the Way". More like "Leading the...oh crap! He's going down, another attack!" I swore I wasn't going to bash but I guess I couldn't resist throwing one in there. Have you seen this? http://www.fightingms.org/HyPP_pro.html moreResolved Question: How much is this horse worth?
This is my 3 year old gelding. He's currently 16.1 at the withers and growing like crazy. He is a warmblood mix with some Hanoverian, Irish sport horse, Canadian Warmblood etc in him and this mix has made quite an excellent horse. He's super quiet, has excellent form over fences when free jumped and is super brave. He is very well mannered and loves to learn new things and tries really hard at anything you ask. He was started undersaddle last year and did a few months of gentle walk trot canter work, and learned how to stand quietly, tie, trailer etc. He has been out to some shows to hang out and was very quiet and relaxed and excellently mannered. He was then turned away to grow up for the summer and has not been worked since. He was bought in once and lunged and had a gentle ride and didn't even bat an eyelid! This is such a super horse whom i would love to keep but I don't want to continue with his training as I just don't want to show anymore. He is a beautiful fluid mover and will make an excellent hunter/jumper/eventer/dressage horse one day and I am sure he is going to be worth a lot of money if he gets into the right hands. He is also the friendliest boy ever! He's got a lot of character and always makes you laugh, and he always comes running from his herd as soon as he see's you at the gate. I am not going to tell you how much I paid for him, though it was quite a fair amount, nor am I going to tell you how much he is advertised for. Would like some honest opinions on how much you feel one would pay for this horse in his current condition. Thanks!! And best way to find someone to lease her?
This is my mare. She's a 4.5 year old quarter horse, about 15.2 hh. What do you think of her? Will she make a nice hunter? Please give the best critique you can on her movement, conformation, etc. Also, I really want to lease her out because I am in high school and when school starts I won't have as much time to ride. She's advertised on my trainer's website, but other than that, because of the rules of the rescue I adopted her from, I'm not allowed to advertise her. So what's the best way to get her out there? And for those of you looking for a fun question, feel free to suggest a show name. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83zi4wmrNUY moreResolved Question: why does tna keep shoving this crap down are throats?
1 They bring in hogan and bischoff, the rating and ppv buyrates are down. #2 They keep rehashing storylines from the 90's that nobody cares about anymore because it is 2010 now. #3 There writing and booking is horrible. For example the Sting vs. Jarrett feud, Hogan making Abyss a hulkamaniac with the power of the WWE hall of fame ring that your advertising for the WWE on TNA programing how stupid is that, Flair turning A.J. into natch Jr. and creating a 4 horseman knockoff group called Fortune you might well call them the 4 horses asses. I can go on forever but you guys get my drift. I can list more things but I will just end it like this, with direction the company is going I am afraid they will be going out business by atleast spring of 2011 if not sooner maybe next year. TNA can have all the free ppv's on Spike T.V. they want but if nobody cares about what there trying to do then the ship will be sinking fast. TNA needs to stop pushing things from the past and start looking to the future like the next 10 years down the road. Please tell me your opinions. Thanks! moreResolved Question: where can i advertise my website for free?
i have recently created a horse racing tipping website and i was wondering where i could promote it for free. moreResolved Question: What should i charge?
its 3.5 acres and just going to be my horse at home so i need to get someone else out there but i can not really afford another horse. i would just provide the hay and feed, clean up, feeding grain owner provides etc. hay around here for good grass hay is $6 a bale for what i feed my guy. i would also like to include the farrier into the price but not sure if its a smart idea ( the place my horse is now there is a mare with him who probably hasn't has her feed done is like 3-4 months) and i don't want that to happen on my property cause i get really angry when people do dumb stuff like that ( considering she isn't even shod she is barefoot) oh and also there are two stalls if they would like to use them but i will probably just advertise as pasture board and there are trails right across the road from our house. anyway what do you think i should charge? please feel free to ask questions in case i forgot something. moreResolved Question: Horses.......................?

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Seven of the eight candidates running for mayor gave their vision for the city Tuesday night. Voters filled a banquet hall in North Columbia to hear from those seeking election for mayor. As each person entered, they had a chance to write down a question of their own for the candidates. Each mayoral hopeful was given two minutes each to answer a series of those questions. Topics covered included the bus system, law enforcement, and how much power a mayor should have in office. To finish up, each candidate shared their number one priority if elected. Below you can read some of what they had to say. "I want to make sure that each one of your children and grandchildren have the same opportunities I had as a child. Our focus on our campaign is clear, we want to focus on, our priorities will be making sure we have a safe city," said Steve Benjamin. "You want safe, secure streets and homes and you want to know that your money is being spent responsibly by your city government. If you don't have those two things you don't have confidence and you don't have trust," said Steve Morrison. "Trim the budget, you know, get rid of any unnecessary items. Clean is the crime free neighborhoods, and of course that comes from funding the police department," said Sparkle Clark. "When I'm mayor of the City of Columbia, everybody will be heard, not everybody will be agreed with, and at no point will an individual "want" overwhelm a collective good," said Kirkman Finlay. "The first thing we have to do is fix the budget, period. We have no idea how much money we have, we have no idea where it's going," said Gary Myers. "My priorities are number one take care of the budget and our finances. Number two take care of our city employees. You gotta have city employees who care and want to stay here to take care of you," said Joseph Azar. "If we can have true civic involvement, and we can make people feel like their government does care about them, and does want to listen to them, I feel like that's the solution. Because right now there's not any money," said Aaron Johnson. Columbia's elections take place April 6th. I've been trying to apprentice with a lot of horse trainers by putting an add on craigslist. I've gotten a few responses, but mostly people are calling me off the hooks trying to get me to come out and put miles on their horses being that I'm experienced, are good with a firm hand and consistancy, and they don't have time to do it. They try to make it so that they'll give me training tips if I do it for free, but that's not what I want. What if I was advertising putting miles on a horse? would this sell do you think for reasonable prices? Has anyone ever done this or seen it done (i'd like to know pay?)? Thanks!wow you don't have to be rude, I'm just asking, becuase they CANNOT find anyone to do it or that they want to do it without paying for a full horse trainer. Also why would I drive a half hour to put miles on someone's horse for free when I have my own 2 horses to work with? I was just asking, back off. moreResolved Question: What's a way for me to give out my newsletters?
Hi! I've gotten the idea in my head that I would like to do a weekly newsletter about horses. The problem, however, is I have no idea how to distrubute it! Yes this is a definite scam. I have contacted oodle and equinenow about this obvious scam and they say there is nothing they can do. I am sincerely looking for a horse and have been looking at the friesians. I have contacted everyone from $0 up to $2000 and they have all been a hoax. They offer the shipping and without even knowing where to send the horse they pick a number off the top of their head for the shipping ranging anywhere from $500 to $1500. When I tell them I can come pick up the horse they give me a fictitious address and when I google the address there is no such place or it is a place of business ie: flooring company, newspaper bldg, an alley way or an empty lot. When I confront them with the wrong address issues they usually give me another false address. If there is anyone out there with one for a reasonable price (one that I could afford) they are going to be hard to find because of these scammers. I spent a whole day contacting well over 20 ads and every single one of them was fictitious. People need to be made aware that nothing on oodle should be trusted. They are all fraud and people should not advertise their horses or anything else on oodle. I actually had one respond and called me an idiot because I confronted him that he gave me a fictitious address. Does anyone know how they can be stopped? moreVoting Question: Why does this horse deal seem so strange?
I've been looking for a horse to buy for quite some time now. I ran across an ad a couple days ago on Horsetopia.com, and it was advertising a friesian being given away to a home that will take good care of him. I emailed the owner, asking a few questions about his ride-ability and health. Se responded by telling me what a wonderful horse he is, fine for beginners, great at dressage, etc. Of course that one sounded too good to be true, and it turns out that she's in Portland. She told me she would be willing to send this horse to me. I can't help being a little leery, but now as I was looking through horses again I found an ad stating that they had a Friesian gelding for sale. I emailed asking how much he wanted, if he's fine for childen, etc. Once again I got an email saying how wonderful this horse is. It seemed fishy enough when I noticed how the emails were similar just in what they wrote, but now the email addresses are similar too! both have the owners first and last name with a two digit number after @yahoo.com. Weird, right? I was wondering what you guys though about this. It seems so strange! I just can't imagine what kind of scam artist would want to say it's free! usually they want money from people! Do I have a right to be PISSED!?
I'm FIRE angry! Earlier, I went to do my normal monthly grocery shopping. Unexpectedly, this religious hypocrite stalker neighbor of mine was moving out. I'm thinking, "YES! I'm THANKFUL she's leaving." She harassed & stalked me the entire 2 yrs. I've lived here. So, she was putting her furniture on the curb & advertised it for free for anyone to get. She knows & is aware of my OCD, anxiety, depression, & Tourette's disorders but doesn't care. She offered me her furniture since she knows all I have is a flat mattress from 2 yrs. ago from my futon that broke because of me being overweight (I lost a lot of weight since 2007). I accepted her free furniture offer out of fear of her embarrassing me in front of her friends about my mental disability, in which she ended up doing anyway. She asked me to help. So, I caught on to the fact that she made an *** out of me by giving me something "free" just for an excuse to enslave & embarrass me in front of her friends. Before I knew it, she was asking me to help her move this & move that. Take out the trash. When she said that, I was like, "No. My OCD." Then, she went off on me, saying I was using my disorder as an excuse. & she threw in my face about the furniture she gave me, while wearing the EXPENSIVE Nike shoes I gave her PLUS lots of music CD's, we both cooked for each other throughout the 2 yrs., & we had our ups & downs. I tried to have patience & take her s hit! & be nice. She used my disability against me & also the fact that I don't believe in Christianity. But she KEPT trying to stay on my @$$ all the time. She treats me like a child that's WAY below her, & we're not even 2 full yrs. apart. She was angry & used me to take her anger out on me. She broke her lease, which the landlord doesn't allow, & got mad because the woman who was supposed to take over didn't show up. Why me? She COMPLETELY humiliated me, & she kept telling me things to provoke me to outburst even more, & I wanted to leave, & she tried to say, "Little girls leave. Women stay." I felt obligated to stay there & help, while being treated like horse manure. So, she said my cursing was disturbing & that I was using my disorder as an excuse. @ 1st, her friends were understanding of my explanation of my disorders. & I had 2 strokes @ age 5. So, me & her got into a heated argument, & her friend switched gears on me & started taking her side & saying to me, "Yeah, she knows because she studied this. You are using your Tourette's as an excuse." So, I told her, "Don't listen to her. I have to suffer through this every day & live with this condition." She continued to agree with the neighbor & tried to play a psych game on me by saying, "You're invading my space & putting me in defense mode." I'm like, "Now, it's REALLY time to go! & I just have to be a little girl." & the religious stalker neighbor was like, "Yeah, I did this study on this guy, & he was jerking & cursing"... & whatever, whatever. & she said, "He cannot help it. You can help it. I've seen you for 2 yrs. Yes you can control it. You're using it as an excuse." I grew angrier & angrier. Now, HER furniture is in my apt., & I can't get it out. I don't want her s hit! I don't want to be reminded of her nor her friends! We have efficiency apts. So, her friend who said I put her in defense mode, was an idiot because the apartment is ALREADY enclosed! Duh! The apt. is structured where you have to take the hinges off the door to even put your BIKE in there! So tiny. I see a neurologist for my TS, & the stalker neighbor thinks GOD will take away my disability. I don't believe in him. I believe in a higher power by another name. I told my friends about it, & they're pissed & want to hurt those girls. I'm 26, my friends are 30, & the neighbor & her friends are like my age & 28. 1 of my friends said that if the neighbor was a TRUE believer of God, then she'd have patience with my disability & not treat me like she does. This isn't the entire story, but I can't think straight right now, & space is limited. moreResolved Question: Well I keep kickin around this idea about leasing my horse?
The only reason I want to do it is because I don't ride her enough and I would like her to get more attention. I have advertised to ride her for free and found one lady who never comes out any more and when she had the time it was only one day a week so I thought if I leased her the person might come out more often. My circumstances are weird for a lease horse (at least I think so). I keep her on my property and there is only an acre and a half paddock (very little grass) no round pen, no arena, hardly anyone to ride with though there are trails down the street and I have got my mare to ride them alone. My horse is an easy keeper and her only costs are about 3 1/2 bales a month plus farrier $40 every 6 weeks (oh I pay $11 a bale for alfalfa grass) and then the yearly vet. I thought if they would split this with me and I do all the hard stuff like keeping the pasture clean and feeding and keeping the water clean. Do you think anyone would want to share this with me. She is a beautiful palomino dun mare with a heart of gold. She is really smart and a lot of fun. I'd be super picky about who I leased to. They'd have to be totally into natural horsemanship and I'd expect them to baby her the way I do but I'd only be asking about $50 a month for a 1/2 lease. Do you think these circumstances would interest anyone or is it too lonely out here. She is a great horse though and like I said she's real pretty and sweet a fun horse. I just thought with no arena and noone to ride with I wouldn't get much response. What do you think? And what kind of experiences have you had leasing your own horses? Was it a nightmare or were you glad to do it? moreResolved Question: Fun question: What are your favorite disciplines?!?
What's your favorite to do? Do you compete in it? Any disciplines you just love to watch too? I like to barrel race. It's what I was raised with. I compete in it very seriously. And I just did team penning and sorting last night for the first time and that was the funnest thing I've ever done on a horse! And I like to watch free reining. Oh and does anyone know where I should advertise a barrel saddle for sale?Peanut's Girl, you should really go to an open practice night somewhere and do some sorting! Never in my life have I let a food delivery and human incompetence get me worked up. But tonight Kitchener, Ontario Papa John's really took the cake! I booked my pizza order online at 8pm...a pricey as anything, but I was sold just to try it. An hour and 25 mins later, I get a call on my cell phone. I can't understand the guy, but I think he's down stairs...so I run down to let him in...nope, not there...so i call him back...he says he's outside, I tell him i'm at the door and there i no one in sight. Honest mistake, even if my apartment was on the same street at the Papa's and 10 blocks away...so I stay on the phone with the guy, telling him every land mark in sight - Being literally 20 feet from City hall being the main one. Nope. No comprehend. Minutes pass, and he hangs up on me in the middle of his humming and hawing and mumbling. I try calling back, no answer, tried one more time...nothing again. I'm about to head back in when I realize my keys are on my table and my auto lock door is closed because I was chasing a delivery guy who got lost 10 blocks from his home base. (even if he was close, i would have saw him.he was no where in sight...not even on the right block.) after 2 hours of being stuck outside, i get in to get the papa's number, i call them and get a friendly fellow who offers me bread sticks as soon as he answers the phone... i asked him what was up with the pizza and explained what happened. (now hungry as a horse!) The guy says "he couldn't find your place, it was a bad address." - I told him i was standing in that address and on the street and didnt see him... the guy on the phone develops a bit of an attitude and says "gimme a minute, i'll talk to the driver..." 8-10 mins pass while i'm on hold. WAY more than enough time to investigate the pizza issue. so i hang up and call back. the same guy answers on the first ring and says "hold please" and puts me on hold. I hang up and call back...this goes on for 15 mins or so. (i was just working on principal after the 2nd time.) at one point i shouted "NOOO" when they said "hold, the guy stopped and said "what...?" and i said "wheres my pizza?" and he hung up. FINALLY the next time i call they actually answer the phone like nothing happened with the "pappa's" phone answering speal...as if they weren't looking at the call display this time (as they were the first 30 times) finally i ask this guy "where is the customer service papa's states they have on their site?" he says "you know what buddy, you should have called back about your pizza 2 hours ago! don't call here again." I will never call there again. I went into the pizza pizza that i live right above. I should have went there in the first place. They have whole wheat crust, gluten free crust as well as crispy crust on top of their regular dough - on top of that, they have WAY more toppings and they have WAY better prices...what was I thinking trying to switch Papa John's? never again. moreResolved Question: i need to sell my horse asap?

When my husband had cancer his parents wanted to help out financially because they were financially well off and wanted him to be able to stay home from work when he needed to. During the treatment and recovery his mother continued to pay. She never asked for anything back, and we new that if we could just put some money together we would give it back anyway. When October of last year came along, they said they were going to stop giving us any help. We would be tight but we didn’t question anything. All of a sudden she started coming down on me, but only behind my back. I worked at home as a Videographer filming weddings on weekends and editing them at home, my husband helped with the filming. But because of us moving and my husband’s cancer we put off the weddings and had to start from scratch when he was well. It’s hard to start up again because we have no money to advertise but we use free internet sights and post posters around and we are starting to get calls. In October of last year I was also babysitting children and looking into getting some cleaning jobs. My mother in law started calling me lazy and immature and never in front of me, only to my husband. She stopped calling me, she only comes to pick up her grandkids to spend the weekend with her sometimes. When she picks them up, she smiles phony and tells me how her brother was 12 when he got 4 brothers and sisters ready for school, and cooked after school, while the mother worked full time. She wants me to get a job and throw are dreams out the door. My husbands company will close soon and if we don't have weddings, he won’t have anything to fall back on, because even with a job, I can’t afford to support our whole household. Plus I am very old fashioned and I believe I will find any alternative to bring money in rather than being away from my kids. She left her son in a daycare since 3 months and believes all women should work no matter what, and women who don’t go to work are lazy. Since last October she has been very cold towards me and has told my daughter how important it is to be a career woman. My daughter is now 15 and my son is 12. She has told my husband to lie to me about things that she knows will hurt our marriage. She has told him to kick me out to get a job. She has told him that I am a selfish mother and wife to him. We had some fights in the past, but my husband is starting to realize what is really important in life. He wants to get this business going and another one and he needs me to work on it while he’s at work. He gets caught in what is right and what is wrong and has never been able to talk to his parents even when he was young. I am an extremely hard worker, and an excellent mother and wife, yet she comes down on me because I don’t work outside the home. I have tried to talk to her, so has my husband and she tells him one thing and me another. She retired at 40 and took on an expensive hobby (4 horses) while her husband supported her, and I am 42 and don’t spend much on myself and do what I can to make money. Another October went by of phoniness and I’m sure pretending everything was great between us. We had get together and dinner outings for relatives and we always were all there and she always pretended with her fake smile. Now with Christmas coming, for the sake of the kids I said I would once again go to their place for Christmas on the 25th for supper, because last year the kids were a bit sick and I was relieved to not go. She told my husband that we weren’t invited because she assumed we weren’t going to come, so they changed locations of the party to her mother in law and the place is too small for us to come with 4 people. The kids and my husband felt rejected and I felt that was such a stab in the back. I told my husband to let his grandmother know that we were not invited, or we would have come. Also to let his father know that we weren’t invited. I dont think either one of them knows. We are going to do our own thing now, and have my families get together on the 27th, but what a slap that was. I think my husband’s parent’s marriage may have issues and because of her expensive hobby and him wanting to retire, and her being selfish, this is how it all could have started with her resentment towards me. I want to know if anyone has a similar story or advice to help my husband feel better. Even things that you can tell me that I can do or say to make her stop trying to manipulate my husband. He is easily led and the true colours of his mother hurt. Any advice or useful information is much appreciated, Thank you. moreResolved Question: Some jokes for ya'll ?
A battle weary American soldier boarded a crowded train in in London during the early days of post-WWII, only to discover he was unable to find a place to sit. As he walked the length of the train, he noticed a small white dog curled up on one of the seats. A large, well dressed woman sat in the seat next to the dog. The man hovered near the seat, hoping the woman would take the hint, but she pointedly ignored him. "Excuse me, Ma'am," the soldier finally spoke, "Is this your dog? Would you mind holding it on your lap so that I may sit down?" The woman raised her icy gaze to the young man and said in a haughty British accent, "oh! You Americans. You are so rude. Fluffy is in that seat, and i see no reason why she should give up her comfort for you." The exhausted soldier nodded, picked up the small dog ... leaned over ... opened the window of the moving train and tossed the dog out. The woman gaped and spluttered in horrified indignation, and the man sitting across from her lowered his newspaper. "You Americans", he said, "You drive on the wrong side of the road ... you eat with the wrong fork ... and you just threw the wrong bitch out the window." ......................................... A well-stacked young advertising secretary wore tight knit dresses that showed off her figure, especially when she walked. Her young, aggressive boss motioned her into his office one afternoon and closed the door. Pointing to her tightly covered derriere, he asked, "Is that for sale?" "Of course not!" she snapped angrily, blushing furiously. Unchanged, he replied quietly, "Then, I suggest you quit advertising it." ................................ read this one out loud: Learn chinese in 5 minutes Dildo - Fun Toi Ex-wife - Fa Kin Sau Where´s the restroom? - Ai Pe Nau I absolutely agree! - No Daut Jesus Child - Ho Li Boi Dogshit under my shoe - Stin Kin Puh Stop teasing me! - Tat Nut Fun Annoying kid - Hit Tat Boi Cough up some dough! - Pei Nau Go for a ride for free - Hit Hai King I think our friend is homo - He Gai Your price is too high - Ai No Bai Dam Ting That was an unauthorized execution - Lin Ching You are not very bright - Yu So Dum I am not guilty - Wai Hang Mi Please, stay a while longer - Wai Go Nao They have arrived - Hia Dei Kum Hey, I think we have a serious problem here! - Sum Ting Wong Having an early orgasm - Kum Tu Suun Saying the same thing several times - Ri Pi Ting Are You horny? - Yu Har Dik You´re just so stupid - Fak Ju I just get drunk so easy - On Li Tu Oh, You´ve been smoking as well? - Ju Tu Hai I´ve got something in my eye - Aut Mai Ai You explained that before, but finally I understand - Ai See Nau Listen baby, isn´t that a pretty and romantic sky tonight? - Mun So Brait Let´s get outta here and that fast as hell! - Fa Kin Run Oh, just look at that Ferrari! - Big Boi Toi I´m just so horny - Ma Dik Big As I said before, Microsoft sucks! - Fa Kin Kom Pu Da I told You that´s he´s extremely ticklish! - Jum Pin Hai Hey buddy, I know it´s winter, but not THAT cold to pee outdoor - Wai Ju Ding So Tai Nee Ok listen, this got to look like an accident - Hit Mai Ai He’s cleaning his automobile - He Wa Shing Ka This is a tow away zone - No Pah King Small Horse - Tai Ni Po Ni Did you go to the beach? - Wai Yu So Tan It’s very dark in here - Wai So Dim Has your flight been delayed? - Hao Long Wei Ting I thought you were on a diet? - Wai Yu Mun Ching Your body odor is so offensive - Yu Stin Ki Pu I didn´t know that You knew the lyrics to The Macarena - Wai Yu Sing Dum Song I got this for free - Ai No Pei Phew, this bathroom stink! - Hu Flung Dung Are you harboring a fugitive? - Hu Yu Hai Ding See me as soon as possible - Kum Hia Nao Stupid Man - Dum Fuk I bumped into a coffee table - Ai Bang Mai Fa Kin Ni I think you need a face lift - Chin Tu Fat Our meeting is scheduled for next week! - Wai Yu Kum Nao Staying out of sight - Lei Ying Lo Great - Fa Kin Su Pahstar if funny? moreResolved Question: negotiating pay for a new job?
I am doing marketing and advertising design for a local Equestrian Center. These clients have their own horse and will be paying her to keep their horse there which would offset her cost in feeding mine. I would keep any money I make from teaching, as long as I continue to help her with her advertising and events. The marketing advertising design work she has me doing is intensive and she has events planned every month that require me to design media kits, follow-up with contacts and write copy for her media packets. In 1986, when Hillary was first lady of Arkansas, she was put on the board of Wal-Mart. Officials at the time said she wasn't filling a vacancy. In May 1992, as Hubby's presidential campaign heated up, she resigned from the board of Wal-Mart. Company officials said at the time that they weren't going to fill her vacancy. So what the hell was she doing on the Wal-Mart board? According to press accounts at the time, she was a show horse at the company's annual meetings when founder Sam Walton bused in cheering throngs to celebrate his non-union empire, which is headquartered in Arkansas, one of the country's poorest states. According to published reports, she was placed in charge of the company's "green" program to protect the environment. But nobody got greener than Sam Walton and his family. For several years in the '80s, he was judged the richest man in America by Forbes magazine; his fortune zoomed into the billions until he split it up among relatives. It's no surprise that Hillary is a strong supporter of free trade with China. Wal-Mart, despite its "Buy American" advertising campaign, is the single largest U.S. importer, and half of its imports come from China. Was Hillary the voice of conscience on the board for American and foreign workers? Contemporary accounts make no mention of that. They do describe her as a "corporate litigator" in those days, and they mention, speaking of environmental matters, that she also served on the board of Lafarge, a company that, according to a press account, once burned hazardous fuels to run its cement plants. Wal-Mart, though, was the crown jewel of Arkansas, the state's First Company fit for a first lady. During her tenure on the board, she presumably helped preside over the most remarkable growth of any company until Bill Gates came along. The number of Wal-Mart employees grew during the '80s from 21,600 to 279,000, while sales soared from $1.2 billion to $25.8 billion. And the Clintons depended on Wal-Mart's largesse not only for Hillary's regular payments as a board member but for travel expenses on Wal-Mart planes and for heavy campaign contributions to Bill's campaigns there and nationally. According to reports in the early '90s, before Bill and Hillary moved to D.C., neither was raking in the big bucks, but prominent in their income were her holdings of between $50,000 and $100,000 worth of Wal-Mart stock. A press report on the Clintons' finances during the early stages of Bill's 1992 run for the presidency showed that most of their income came from her $109,719 annual salary from the Rose Law Firm and tens of thousands of dollars in fees she received from serving on corporate boards. (She was on two others besides Wal-Mart's.) Her honoraria and director fees grew almost as fast as Wal-Mart's profits during the '80s—rising from $111 in 1980 to $6500 in 1986 to $64,700 in 1991, according to the same source. During the same period, small towns all over America began complaining that Wal-Mart was squeezing out ma-and-pa stores and leaving little burgs throughout the Midwest and South with downtowns that featured little more than empty storefronts. But selected small companies were doing quite well, thanks to the Clintons' friendship with Wal-Mart. The Boston Globe reported in January 1992 that Bill Clinton had introduced a brush company's executives to Wal-Mart executives, hoping that the two could do bidness. Executives of the brush company had been rebuffed in previous attempts to sell their products to Wal-Mart. Lucky for the company, it happened to be located in New Hampshire, where Clinton was trying to win a presidential primary. At the time, Hillary Clinton was still on Wal-Mart's board, and the retail giant was still resisting the unionization of any of its workers. Last week, Hillary was wearing a different hat. She stood in solidarity with the elderly Teamsters as Local 237 president Carl Haynes greeted her warmly, endorsed her, and then left early on what other union officials described as "AFL-CIO business." But the AFL-CIO was thinking of other business only a few months earlier when the union's leaders, including its chief, John Sweeney, marched specifically against Wal-Mart's oppression of its meat-market workers. According to a Web site run by activists at the AFL-CIO affiliate United Food and Commercial Workers, Wal-Mart "has profited by pushing its workers to the bottom of the wage scale." The union points out that hourly wages "average $2 to $3 per hour less than at unionized supermarkets." More grave for workers everywhere in the United States are these figures spouted by union activists: Wal-Mart is the largest private employer in the country, "yet fewer than 40 percent of its workers are covered by the company's health plan." The union notes that Wal-Mart's "hometown" judge in Arkansas issued a nationwide temporary restraining order against the UFCW, barring anyone associated with the union from entering Wal-Mart facilities to educate workers about their legal rights in the workplace. The union, however, successfully appealed the order—noting that the judge holds more than $500,000 in Wal-Mart stock. The case remains in litigation. Meanwhile, Wal-Mart's first lady, who also benefited from Wal-Mart stock, solicits support from union workers. Which makes her words to the elderly Teamsters last week especially poignant: "You can count on me to stand up for the right to collectively bargain!"
