Resolved Question: How do I build clients as a hair stylist?

I'm almost finished assisting under a hair dresser at a very nice salon, and I'm trying to get clients. My teacher is telling me he thinks I'm not ready to cut hair, I've been assisting under him for nearly a year and all of my family and friends who do hair are telling me the only way I'm going to learn to do hair is by cutting. My teacher never lets me cut, and he isn't giving me the education I expected, every time we actually have free time to do color theory or a hair cut, he makes me get him food or color his wife's hair for him (we color her hair at least every week). I had a client call and REQUEST ME to cut her hair and he refused to let me cut her in our salon, he took her instead. I am coming to the end of my year assisting and I have 0 clients, and when I mention bringing clients in to do their hair he tells me I'm not allowed. I've been thinking about advertising on craigslist and the newspaper and stuff to do hair from my house but I was told that I would lose my cosmetology license if the state board came to my house anonymously and saw that I didn't have the proper setup, is this true? If I can't do clients from my house, and I can't do clients at my salon, how am I supposed to build clients? I don't have alot of friends and family that I can practice on, and I need to start cutting and coloring.I don't need help making advertisements, or business cards, I know how to do that. Since completing my degree this May I have had some time out and have tried a couple of full time jobs in fields other than that my degree is in. In this time I have had some thinking time, and have decided to give an idea I had throughout my Degree a real shot. I have always wanted to one day run my own magazine. My intentions originally were to work for an existing magazine for some added experience and contacts, but have found since leaving University that there is no work outside London. Resolved Question: what happens if a dog swallows part of a leash?

My 3yr old golden retriever was recently boarded at a ranch-type facility that advertises a "cage free" environment. A week ago, I had boarded her and my 8yr old golden just for the day and when I picked them up, they said the 3 yr old had chewed through her leash. I asked why she was even on one, and they couldn't give me an answer. This past Friday, I had to board them again, and they took them without their leashes this time. When I went to pick them up, I instead received a phone call from an unknown vet that my 3yr old was comatose and had suffered a heat stroke. She spent two nights in the emergency clinic because they couldn't get her temp stabilized and her blood vessels were bursting. By a miracle of God, she's home and recovering, but her platelets are completely depleted - her body is basically starting from scratch to reproduce them. Well, today, 3 days later, I am picking up her poop and there is a ~3in piece of leash in it! Now, I ask you, is this from a week ago or is it from this past weekend? Because the ER vet said that something lodged in her airways would have triggered the stroke as well. more

its 3.5 acres and just going to be my horse at home so i need to get someone else out there but i can not really afford another horse. i would just provide the hay and feed, clean up, feeding grain owner provides etc. hay around here for good grass hay is $6 a bale for what i feed my guy. i would also like to include the farrier into the price but not sure if its a smart idea ( the place my horse is now there is a mare with him who probably hasn't has her feed done is like 3-4 months) and i don't want that to happen on my property cause i get really angry when people do dumb stuff like that ( considering she isn't even shod she is barefoot) oh and also there are two stalls if they would like to use them but i will probably just advertise as pasture board and there are trails right across the road from our house. anyway what do you think i should charge? please feel free to ask questions in case i forgot something. more

Basically, I wanted to create two separate Delicious accounts, but since you need a Yahoo email address for each account, I just want to access my Yahoo mail conveniently through an email handler (such as Thunderbird). Who the heck wants to access each email address separately on the web? I just found out Yahoo charges $20 per year to have POP access to your email account (to access your email in Thunderbird or other email client) and to be able to automatically forward your emails to another address. I realize they by no means have to offer a free service, but when other excellent services are available such as gmail which are F~REE, (not to mention all the horrible pop-up help bubbles Yahoo use in their services), I have to say I'm done with Yahoo, Flickr, Delicious, and other Yahoo services. Hi! I listen to talk radio all the day long, and I want to caution people against the Income From Home commercials. I won't name the company directly, BUT....it is secretly a company that has a name that starts with the letter H and has the word "life" in it's name. It is a rip-off. They tell half truths all along the enrollment process to get you on board, with the biggest half truth being an out and out lie. They will tell you over and over again that you don't have to sell any products. Then they reveal in a crafty manner...."Oh, we meant that the products sell themselves, so you don't have to be a salesman. These products are so good that people will buy them fast". Then the reality is that you have to make 50 calls just to get one sucker to agree to either buy a product or accept a "free" into dvd from you, with them paying the postage. They also promise you that they will help you make your sales calls (but they are careful not to use the word "sale" or "sales" and they tell you not to use that word, e.g, lie like all-get-out), but when you try to get them to listen in on a call to a prospective customer, they all tell you that they are too busy to run your business for you. Getting refunds on products is very hard. This is a cheap company that doesn't even have a toll-free number and all of their DVD's have a grainy, 1990's look to them. Do not fall for "Income From Home" on talk radio shows. And shame on these talk show hosts for letting this rip off company advertise. Has anybody else had this experience? more

Many people, are of course happy about this and pre-ordered the game with that in mind. When the game comes out. The English Translation ended up EVEN MORE CENSORED then the original Japanese version!!! So to sum it all up: JAST advertise and acknowledge that their translation of this Adult Game is COMPLETELY UNCENSORED. My husband and I are offering free room and board and free utilities and use of our 2nd car in exchange for child care help which is not set hours but just being around during the day to help me if needed. We advertised our studio and found a girl but currently my mom decided she wants to stay in the studio and now we have to call the girl and tell her that my mom is going to stay in the studio but she can use the two extra rooms in our main house and have her own bathroom. They're printed on glossy paper, with bright ink, a 10% discount is offered on the front, has good information about UV protection and a potential $1500 tax credit, along with a phone number for a free estimate, and a before and after picture. So basically my point is, I think it's a flyer people will pay attention to, and I want to make sure I use it effectively. Resolved Question: Where does the law stand on Ebay post and packaging charges?

As some of you will know, Ebay have now started to enforce a policy of "free" postage and packaging on some catagories. As there is no such thing as "free postage and package" (ask at your local Post Office for full details) I have now started to offer my goods as Collection From Seller and giving the buyer the OPTION of paying to have the item delivered if they so which. Ebay have told me that this is against their rules but, from my rather basic knowledge of consumer law, I believe them to be on very shaky ground here. The reasons I believe so are these: First of all, Ebay DO allow "Collection Only" listings upon which a buyer can choose to bid or not. These are quite legitimate. Once a person chooses to bid on my item(s) they then become MY buyer, not Ebay's, as Ebay do not act as a trader i.e buy the goods from seller and sell them on to a third party. Secondly, once that person becomes my consumer (buyer) I am well within my rights to offer that person services (in this case postage) and they have the right to either accept my offer of service or refuse it. This is assuming that I didn't originally state that I would post the item(s) for free, which I didn't. The same law applies to trading across the board from my understanding. If for example, I went to a shop (or even car boot sale) and saw a fridge and paid for it, the fridge would then be mine, but that wouldn't give me the right to insist that it was delivered for free unless the trader selling it advertised it (or led me to believe) that they would do so prior to sale. Thirdly, again my understanding is that as they take direct fees from me for services provided, I then become THEIR consumer, giving me the legal right of access to continued services unless I break policy guidelines. I believe, as I explained earlier, that I am breaking none of their guidelines as prior to sale, I am offering my goods for collection upon payment with a post-sale option of paying for a service not offered prior to sale. Unless I'm mistaken, if the letter of the law is followed, Ebay would therefore be forced to withdraw ALL "Collection" items as this is the only way they could legitimately stop someone from offering an item as "collection" and then, through discussion with their buyer, offer a them a paid for service for delivery if they so wish? If anyone has experience or expertise in the matter I'd be glad to hear their comments, also people thoughts in general. Ebay are bad enough with making up the rules as they go along but, as a service-provider that charges payment for such, I feel that this time they may have sailed too close to the wind from a legal point of view. Please tell me that the reports I'm reading out of e3 are wrong regarding the wii fit plus. I have read that present owners of the wii fit are going to have to purchase the new wii fit plus. I personally have raved to all my firends what a great product the wii is and the wii fit has I my strengthened my belief. With the wii fit you deffinately get what you put into it. While it is good I was looking forward to an upgrade in regards to more exercises and setting up work outs. My feeling is that nintendo has an obligation to it's loyal customers to provide great customer service just as we have supported you in this horrible economic climate. I did reopen a closed thread three days ago, because one of the moderators says that I had opened it in the wrong section. I opened it again in it's proper place and it stayed open for two days. A moderator and charter members even joined in. It was closed again due to wrong category, I complained and they asked if I would like it moved instead of closed. I said yes, it was moved and reopened by the moderator. However, the system is flawed. Corporate America and the Advertising gurus have made an undeniable mistake, assumption. They assumed they could impress images and words about their products and ideas into the minds of the masses (approximately 90% of the time)without anyone clicking through. That's exactly what a impression is, an impression on your brain. A clickthrough is you clicking on a ad. They bet that the average human being will not click on the ads due to the speed of life, jealousy and other massive internal problems in Society as a whole. What does this do for them? It raises tons of money for companies selling adspace, which they make off of impressions(micro pennies on the dollar)while providing an inexpensive solution for their corporate(giant ants) clientele(5 million dollars for 5 billion impressions is a great deal for these money masters.). Meanwhile, millions of visited sites created by common citizens are being exploited. They pour their hearts and souls into these sites so that the masses(they hope)will enjoy their works. Then these diligent, hardworking little ants try to find a way to eat. Uh oh, here comes corporate America(giant ants)with some good news, "You can put our names and images on the face of every page in your entire web body and if somebody clicks on us we'll pay you a quarter." The little ant(common citizen)replied, "Wow, big brother, a Quarter, if I get three of those I can get a candy bar, thanks!" The little ants put their(big bother ant's)ads up and are immediately deemed sellouts by the crowd. Whether it be a nascar racer with too many stickers on his helmet, or a boxer, with Larry's Hardware on his a$$, that has no heart. The real sellouts are the manipulated masses that allow inexpensive to nearly free brainwashing through and by big brother ant(Corporate America) impressions. Here's the solution, exploit Corporate America back. Click on at least two ads or more that you see on every site you visit that allows you to absorb the little ants(common citizens)juices for free. Who cares if you're interested in what the ad that you're clicking on has to offer(these ads are still impressing into your brain, make them pay for those impressions)? Click, click, click, was that so hard(It's self satisfying and fun too!) Don't worry, corporate America will survive. Even if some of the old players get removed by the board and are replaced by new players. Voting Question: Rabbit Rescue!? A few questions...(Any rescue can answer)?

So I have made the decision to start a rabbit rescue. Currently, I have name for my rescue and I have started using a free website service but will soon be upgrading so I can get a .com or .org on the end of it. The main thing I am lacking is the 501c3 status and I intend to get that through www.attorneyalternative.com. It will take a bit of time to get the funds available for that and until that happens I would like to go ahead and get my rescue up and going. I am using a through local advertising sites to get the word out about my rescue and as soon as I clear up a few loose ends in addition to the 501c3 issue I will start advertising on a broader scale. My main issues come from funding. -I would like to set up a paypal account and get the donate not option for my site. Can I go the bank and set up a new checking/savings account for the rescue without it being an "official" business? -With paypal, I have to select the business option, right? It asks a number of money questions and things of that nature. What do I put for those types of questions? -Are there any other ways that I can raise money without having a 501c3 status by using websites, etc? -Without a 501c3 status what is the best way to go about talking with a vet to try and get them on board with providing discounted services to my rescue? Any other tips that are along the same subject would be helpful. more
