I have a small business. I would like to advertise myself online for free. Obviously I'm not at the national scale just yet so I would like to start with local advertisement. I'm in Atlanta, GA. So far my list is Yelp, Linkedin, Kudzu, Craigslist, Facebook/Myspace. Are there a few other really popular sites people use when looking for businesses online? Thanks more

Why are Hispanics trying to control free speech Latino leaders are displeased with what they see want Dobbs fired ? Two national advocacy organizations have joined the campaign against CNN show host Lou Dobbs, saying that most Latino leaders are displeased with what they see as his inflamatory remarks on immigration and other issues and some are threatening to target advertisers that support his show. In doing so, advocacy groups Democracia Ahora and the League of United Latin American Citizens are joining a coalition of Latino groups targetting Dobbs in 25 U.S. cities -- including Latino Leadership and the Democracia Ahora chapter in Orlando. CNN's public relations office in Atlanta had not responded Friday to requests for comment. The Lou Dobbs Tonight show on CNN focuses on immigration as one of its top issues and often criticizes Hispanic advocacy organizations. Dobbs had to apologize earlier this year after accusing the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of condoning "Mexico's export of drugs and illegal aliens to the United States." Most recently, he has upset Hispanic leaders because of his focus on "illegal alien loopholes" in health care reform that many have denounced as false claims. Democracia Ahora said it will launch its own "Enough is Enough!" push to counter "the daily drum roll of misinformation and offensive commentary" on Dobbs' show. The organization had Bendixen and Associates conduct a survey of Hispanic leaders that showed most of them "are offended" by the show "as a result of his direct verbal attacks on the immigrant community and his misguided characterization of the Hispanic community as a whole." The Democracia group found that 90 out of 100 Hispanic leaders "ranging from members of Congress and heads of Latino advocacy groups, to CEOs of top American companies and the most prestigious Hispanic journalists and academics in the country" disapprove of Dobbs' show. “Latinos are contributing to the fabric of this great nation in immeasurable ways, from backbreaking work in the nation’s farm fields to active civic engagement and participation in the Democratic process," said Jorge Mursuli, President of Democracia Ahora. "It is truly unconscionable that a world class news network such as CNN continues to directly and indirectly attack our community." The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is complaining that Dobbs is attacking their organization specifically, having called it a “left wing socio-ethnocentric group.” “Over the years, Lou Dobbs has consistently used his CNN platform to spread hate and fear. Resolved Question: I found a few pages to The Atlanta Constitution newspaper issue no. 49, and it is dated august 3rd 1930!?

on one of the pages it advertises "free wheeling Studebaker's contribution to motoring - the sensation of 1930! What is free wheeling? this is the question that thousands of motorists are asking. free wheeling is the second milestone in automobile development" it goes on to say "you shift from high to second, back and forth at 40-50 miles an hour, and never touch the clutch" "you need use the clutch only to start or back up" " the braking power of your engine is available as readily as in conventional cars" "for the first time in a motor car you can get the full benefit of momentum automatically. When your car has gone 10,000 miles your engine has only "worked" only 8,000 miles" "you save 12 per cent on gasoline, 20 percent on oil - even more in heavy traffic" could anybody help me figure out how much this is worth? more

Resolved Question: does your digital converter box work?

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME ON THE CONVERTER BOXES! i got 2 w/ the coupons i got from the gov. still had to pay $20 out of pocket. they do not work. magnavox (box’s brand customer service) don’t know squat and the government (direct line of customer support) don’t know squat. no help. NOW they say that i need a bigger better antenna and MAYBE my reception will improve or just to get cable (which they suggested a minimum of 5 times during one phone call). no thank you to that. if this was a ploy by the government for everyone to get the satellite cable, they have run out of luck my friends. where are our free cable coupons??? i live in metro atlanta area where commercials come on everyday advertising and urging consumers to get out and purchase your converter boxes asap...the digital signals are already available...blah blah blah. i currently use my regular rabbit ear rca antenna and get every channel. why isn’t the converter box able to receive them? “i don’t know...” is what they told me a million times. a rip off to consumers and a scheme for a grander plan people! im interested in knowing are other ppl's working and to what degree more

Resolved Question: Free to Air business startup? ?

I live in Atlanta Georgia and do not know the legal end of it. I talked to a police officer who said that if the equipment did not have any of the satellite company trade names then it was legal? I already have the tools necessary and the know how... don't want to invest in advertising, receivers and dishes until satisfied. more

Resolved Question: Have you advertised on the web in Atlanta.?

I've been trying to sell some items that are in excellent shape and some are new. I've tried free ads in local papers ads on he web for metro Atlanta residents and Craigslist Atlanta. Nothing against the publications but, I've gotten nothing but want-a-be acamers and wierdos. I think my next move will be to just spend the money and use a source that people pay to read. Group to protest 'Pimp's and Ho's' party By Jill Young Miller Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 05/17/07 By JILL YOUNG MILLER jymiller@ajc.com Protesters plan to gather Friday night outside an Atlanta club that's hosting an event advertised as a "Pimp's and Ho's" party. Meanwhile, Fever nightclub's marketing director, Tucker Kroll, said he wasn't even aware of the ads until a newspaper reporter called him. He said a promoter that Fever hires to draw people to the club, not the club itself, was responsible for the Internet ads that put a unique "twist" on the night. "I'm not going to ask him to stop," Kroll said Thursday. "It's a day before the party." The ads, from Poplife Entertainment in Atlanta, quickly sparked the formation of a group — Advocates Against the Exploitation of Young Women — to protest at the club at 1789 Cheshire Bridge Road. Erik Voss, a protest organizer, said he and others will protest also because Girls Gone Wild, a company that films women willing to bare their breasts and kiss each other for things like tank tops and trucker hats, is hosting the evening. Footage could wind up on one of the "real girls" videos the company puts out. "They have been known to exploit young women," Voss said. Kroll called the event "just a harmless party." He said, "There's no ill intention to demean girls or anything like that." Barry Roesler, a spokesman for Girls Gone Wild, said Thursday he had no comment. In September, Joe Francis and the California-based company he built on "Girls Gone Wild" videos pleaded guilty to violating federal laws designed to prevent sexual exploitation of children and agreed to pay fines totaling $2.1 million. Under a deal with the Justice Department, Francis agreed to personally pay a $500,000 fine to settle charges in Los Angeles that he failed to keep records of the ages and identities of women in his films, according to news reports. As a result, Francis said in a statement, footage of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct appeared in at least two DVDs he released. Voss said he expects from 20 to 50 people to turn out for the protest. "We're going to create awareness about the problem of the pimping of young women and the derogatory term that they use — which is 'hos' — for the young women that they exploit," he said. Among protesters may be Mayor Shirley Franklin's policy adviser on women's issues, Stephanie Davis. Davis said the event is "just one more example of how our culture is glamorizing prostitution and main-streaming the behavior so that the buying and selling of bodies becomes acceptable." Hernan Piraquive, president of Poplife, said "it's all about having a good time. It's like Halloween. People dress up as monsters." That doesn't make them monsters, he said. Piraquive posted the "pimp's and ho's party" ads. "You can't make everyone happy," he said. "But I respect their right to protest. They have freedom of speech just like I do." Said Voss, "We're using our free speech rights to call attention to these events as glamorizing something that is absolutely abhorrent." more

I'm preparing taxes this year and am looking to gain clients. In Atlanta metro, and I'm currently doing postings on Craigslist, but I'm not sure of any other outlets that I'd be able to advertise on for free. Any suggestions? more
