The expansion in risky mortgages to underqualified borrowers was encouraged by the federal government. The growth of "creative" nonprime lending followed Congress's strengthening of the Community Reinvestment Act, the Federal Housing Administration's loosening of down-payment standards, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development's pressuring lenders to extend mortgages to borrowers who previously would not have qualified. Meanwhile, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae grew to own or guarantee about half of the United States' $12 trillion mortgage market. Congressional leaders pointedly refused to moderate the moral hazard problem of implicit guarantees or otherwise rein in their hyperexpansion, instead pushing them to promote "affordable housing" through expanded purchases of nonprime loans to low income applicants. The credit that fueled these risky mortgages was provided by the cheap money policy of the Federal Reserve. Following the 2001 recession, Fed chairman Alan Greenspan slashed the federal funds rate from 6.25 to 1.75 percent. It was reduced further in 2002 and 2003, reaching a record low of 1 percent in mid-2003 - where it stayed for a year. This set off what economist Steve Hanke called "the mother of all liquidity cycles and yet another massive demand bubble." The actual causes of our financial troubles were unusual monetary policy moves and novel federal regulatory interventions. These poorly chosen policies distorted interest rates and asset prices, diverted loanable funds into the wrong investments, and twisted normally robust financial institutions into unsustainable positions. AS FOR THE GREAT DEPRESSION Herbert Hoover did what most liberals would do and today he is still wrongly viewed as a free market disciple. The very seeds for the Great Depression were planted way before the stock market crash! During the recession of 1928, the Federal Reserve Board severely cut the money supply. The discount rate to banks was increased from 3.5% to 6%, from January, 1928 to August, 1929. By slashing the money supply and cutting off the the lines of available credit, the economy contracted. Not to mention the passage of the most draconian protectionist bill in American History, the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act. The investors reacted to the bill, and added with the slashing of the money supply, the market became unstable and over a three day period in October 1929, the market crashed... Added with the Fordney-McCumber Tariff of 1922, which destroyed the agricultural economy-it's easy to see how the Great Depression was started by poor choices and not the free market or deregulation, as some crazy liberals will say. The funny thing is that one of Roosevelt's top advisors, Rexford Guy, even said "We didn't admit it at the time, but practically the whole New Deal was extrapolated from programs that Hoover started."... What this man is saying is that the New Deal got it's main ideas and policies from Hoover's own disasterous programs! WTF!? AS FOR BUSH-He was not the one who did what i explained above! You idiots don't even see that Clinton used this form of economics... Tisk Tisk... BUSH SPENT TOO MUCH that is not supply-side and Reagan also spent too much! Ludwig Erhard, David Oddson... Is there any website where I can edit Quicktime (MPEG-4) videos online for free? All I want to do is to add a title and a few transitions, nothing complicated, to my video, and post it on youtube. Kind of like onetruemedia, except it doesn't allow mpeg 4s. Windows Movie maker doesn't accept this type of file, plus it always freezes and won't save. Open Question: Calling all Fantasy Readers/Writers! How should I use my background Information?

I have had a terrible time starting my story. In the meantime I have made up some fantastic background information for my main character that will make her more... well... realistic and relate able. (she is born real weak and sickly... in other words a premie... and other things happen to her [that I'm not going to list here :p] before she becomes a heroine) I think I have three choices... (I think Flashbacks would be awkward...) A) show this background info before getting to the actual story (this would change the whole outlook of the story... but I don't care as long as the thing is started...) Open Question: Computer still detects AVG is there but it isnt.....?

Ok, I installed AVG Free 8.5 a while ago and just uninstalled it for McAfee because I bought one that does Spymare/Viruses and pretty much everything all-in-one..... For some odd reason there was an error with the uninstallation and now my computer detects that AVG is still on my computer when it is not anymore so I am not able to install McAfee because it tells me it will conflict with AVG I've tried CCleaner, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, Anti-Malware Toolkit, Add/Remove Programs, Some super uninstaller or whatever, reinstall/uninstall again just to get missing files but I cant reinstall it because I get the same error, Went to registry to cleanup searched all files for grisoft and avg related and deleted ALL of them and it says no more are related to this software.... So I know its gone I've searched millions of times but no luck PLEASE RESPOND ASAP IF POSSIBLEargh, I CANT REINSTALL AVG because it wont let me I already said that, I have tried that solution multiple times..... And whenever I try downloading an uninstaller it says it doesnt detect any avg files on the computer so it cant uninstall them >.< THIS BLOWS HARDCORE more

I am 17 years old and I am going to Marine boot camp on June 28, 2010. I am trying to run 3 miles in less then 20 minutes and do 20 pull ups. I can do 14 pull ups right now. I am currently training. I already run/power walk for 45 minutes everyday and I am lifting weights. I am trying to eat better, but I notice that it is really hard to do. Everywhere I look, there are fatty foods. Even where I work (I work in a hospital), there is only fatty, fried foods. They have salads, but they cost $6 for one. For dinner, I eat a plate of salad (no dressing) with chicken. I also eat a lot of fruit such as peaches (not canned), apples, bananas and strawberries. I also eat protein bars. I eat Power Bars and Pure Protein bars. I also drink 3 bottles of water everyday. Now that you know what I want and what I already do, can you suggest what I can eat so that I can meet my goals. What can I eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner? I want to start drinking whey protein shakes. What brand of whey protein should I buy and what should I add to the shake? I have also stopped eat fast food, fried food, chips, anything with lots of sugar and stopped drinking soda. I also like to eat light fat free Yopait yogurt, is that bad? Please don't tell me to not join the military or give my vague answers such as protein, I want to know kinds of foods. more

everytime i try to add 2 free tv shows from itunes to my ipod touch it says... "pilot" was not succesfully synced to your ipod because your ipod is unable to play it.... i already have 3 other tv shows on there but im positive i have enough space on there. I want these debates to expand my understanding of christianity and hopefully help at least a few people to move past it. If you have any questions about my points or just think I can answer a general religious question I'll be happy to answer. I broke this up into two sections. The first deals with why God can not logically exist. The second is about how horrible religion is for us as people. If you want to argue both then please split them up. I understand that the second is far more speculative then the first and I'm not trying to state it as fact. It's just some observations I've made. However, I am perfectly willing to debate either one. FREE WILL Free will can NOT exist. I'll make this simple. Now lets pretend for a moment that christianity is correct. God created all of us. It's also stated in the bible that God knows our actions before we make them. Since he is our creator and he knows our actions before me make them...hmmm, that doesn't quite add up for free will now does it? It can't even be explained with "Gods ways are mysterious, who are we to try and understand them?" because it just plains doesn't make any freaking sense. The usual argument against this is that the nature of Gods omnipotence is unkown. Perhaps he knows all the possible futures but not what choices we will make. The problem here is that it's very clearly stated that God knows all. Everything. The whole shibang. If a Christian were to use this argument they would be saying that there are things God does NOT know. That's very clearly a direct contradiction to what the bible says. This kind of self serving double talk just further goes to discredit the bible. But ok, I'll admit that this is a possibility. There's no real way to disprove it. But it's only ever mentioned because it's convenient to believe. There's no evidence to support it. Much like Christianity in general. This is one example of how religious arguments begin with the end in mind and never try to reach an intelligent conclusion. Now lets assume that all of the above is irrelevant. If God existed and wanted us to believe in him, love him, and live our lives by the (mostly common sense) guidelines he gives us then there is no reason for him not to make himself more obvious. One way for him to do that would be to let the innocent people who grew up believing in something different that they had bought a one way ticket straight to hell just because of where they were born. Maybe he'll mention it as they fly past the pearly gates. We also have to face the fact that if he knew all of the people who would be born and turn against him (sending them straight to hell) he essentially just made them so they could suffer for eternity. That doesn't quite jive with the general "peace and love" theme the bible has going. In fact I'd go so far as to say that only a being of pure evil could be so cruel. Once again don't give me that "god can not be understood by man" crap. This is very simple HE MAKES PEOPLE SO THEY WILL SUFFER FOREVER! But don't worry, because the bible is full of such drastic contradictions, thus making the entire book a horrible joke. There is absolutely no reason for us to believe in a outdated, often mistranslated book that was written in a time of extreme ignorance. As intelligent human beings we owe it to ourselves to not simply accept foolish teachings like these and expand our minds to accept other possibilities. ARTIFICIAL VALUES In life we struggle. No one will debate this. These struggles eventually go a long way in defining who we are. How we deal with our issues, face these challenges, and the conclusions we come to after all is said and done is who we are. Religion makes all of this essentially unnecessary. It gives us all the values we need. So ask yourself, what kind of person is attracted to this system of thought? What kind of person needs to find the strength and values to live in a book instead of themselves? The weak. These people might accomplish great things and manage to live without ever straying far from these values but a more personal strength could have gotten them so much more. When we arrive at conclusions on our own with no guidance and no "magic book" to tell us the way; we live up to all the potential humanity has to offer. Imagine someone who finds the strength to live with honor, to never take the easy way, and always do what they believe is right. This person will always be stronger then someone who gets their values from a book because it will be a integral part of who they are.Very interesting responses. They're the most intelligent I've found so far. moondogg - I'm under the impression that the all knowing nature of god is explained in the bible. How would a religious person justify the believe that god is not all knowing given the biblicial evidence? Or am I wrong in thinking that the bible says god is omniscient? The idea behind my second point was to say that those who find their own reasons to be honorable are stronger people then christians. Could you link me to this argument you mentioned? Urrelles - Text books are facts, easily proven to be so, and universally accepted. The bible relies on what I see as irrational faith and the spreading of its ignorance damages our ability to accept other ideas. To tell a person not to hurt another gets the idea across. The be hurt by another and KNOW that you never want to inflict such pain on someone else is something else entirely. By pointing out the free will/omniscience paradox I meant to say that the entire bible should be suspect. Using the bible how can it be shown that god is not all knowing? The tests he puts people through are not enough. It is my belief that the bible was written just as any other superstitious piece of work partly to teach values and mostly to provide answers to the unanswerable. Such tests are a good way a superstitious text could get that across. Looks like I've finally found some people who can teach me something. I played the free trial for 2 days and reached level 20: the limit. Now I don't want to waste my exp, so I'm playing on a different character. But I want to level my 20, so I need to download the full version and update my account. I have a few questions. First, I've heard that you get a free month of play when you buy the full version. Is this true? Second, if I upgrade my account, will I still have the 8 free days added on to my free month(if the month is free)? I'm trying to lose a little bit of weight, but I need to alter my diet along with my exercise routine. I've been running/jogging a mile every morning at 10am-ish (I'm out of school for summer, so don't think I'm a bum without a life.) and then I do a 20 minute yoga routine at 3pm with my sister. I usually have whole wheat toast with peanut butter for breakfast (protein, since I don't eat meat) and for lunch I have a salad with fat-free italian dressing. Dinner is whatever mom makes, but she'd like ideas on healthier (vegetarian) meals to make. As for drinks, I usually have water, but occasionally I'll have iced tea or a diet soda. Not every day, of course. Is what I'm eating for breakfast/lunch okay? Do I need to add/remove anything? Am I getting enough nutrients for how much I'm exercising? (Which isn't really THAT much...) My ten year old German Shepherd’s appetite has diminished and she is loosing weight. This has been going on for a while and it’s nothing to do with the weather. At the outset I suspected a liver problem, however she has had urine and blood tests and the results were fine. I also had her teeth checked and she had a thorough examination. She has been on a fish based, grain free dog food for a number of years and I think that a change of her basic food might help. I have added the following tasters to tempt her, without success. Tinned Mackerel in oil. Tinned Sardines in oil. Tinned Pilchards in oil. Tinned salmon. Tinned tuna. Fresh salmon. Minced raw lamb. She was tempted when I cooked lambs liver, however I know that too much liver is bad for dogs. Yesterday I bought some tins of Cesar with rabbit and heart and mixed this with her normal dried food, this has met with some success. Nevertheless she eats much less than she should to maintain a reasonable weight. Tonight I have prepared a cooked meal from one of my dog recipe books; however I would like advice on a highly flavoured GRAIN FREE dog food which will appeal to her. Plus advise on appealing tasters which I can add. Please don’t be tempted to add any glooming diagnosis; I am already going down that road.Edit.Gee Cee, learn to read and comprehend the question.
