Okay. I have a Dell laptop. The one advertised in the "lollypop" commerical if any of you have seen it. Let me tell you.. Never buy a Dell. Mine stinks and I take great care of it too. I keep loosing internet from time to time on my computer and it becomes really frustrating when i'm trying to research for school and such. Also, it's on a wireless signal. I belived something was wrong with the wireless signal until I had a friend come over and used the internet for his laptop just fine. Now I really think it is my computer. Please help me i'm not a computer wiz soo take it easy on me. I've tried all of the basic stuff but none of it seems to be working. I still have a warranty on it though so if all else fails I can use that. The thing is though is that it has been fixed and fixed maybe 4 times and its kind of getting annoying.. more

Open Question: Finding band members in the US?

Ok, so in about a year or two, I plan on moving to the US to pursue a music career. I play guitar myself but I still need to find another 3 or 4 members to form a band. Now, one way I can get members is to move to wherever in the US I move to then advertise via ads or posters etc. The problem with that is that It confines the search area to one place. Another way I could do it is via the internet but then, what if that special member doesn't use that site? There's no certain area in the US that I plan on moving to so I would look for members all over the country. What ways can I effectively search for the perfect band members from all over the US without having to travel to each city in each state?? -Thanks! more

Open Question: Atheists why do you do this?

Since you atheists like to show of then this question is for you? Why do you have to answer people's questions with things like that there's no God, or that he doesn't exist? Can't you go to another category instead of using the same answer over and over? I have a friend who is atheist but she's not advertising it to everyone or bragging about it on the internet. I am just saying that there's tons of categories o here. You wanna keep writing theres no god over and over thats your life. Your mom must be very proud. The fact that I got this many answers just proves my point. Whats the matter atheists, did I touch a nerve there? Go cry to your mommy. more

Open Question: VK FANS!What do you think about this article: The Japanese Rock Revolution in America Should Not Go Mainstream?

Any criticism would be helpful. I'll copy and paste it here... Visual Kei (Visual Style), VK for short, is a form of Japanese Rock fashion that revolves around modern rock culture in Japan. This male dominated form of fashion is not about the misconceived notion of becoming drag queens but rather looking like beautiful guys. However, despite general belief, this fashion has nothing to do with the type of music that these artists choose to play. VK musicians play many types of rock including, metal, alternative, melodic, and symphonic rock. Visual Kei has some million fans in America. With so many fans in the US you may ask, ‘Why does not’t this show in mainstream media?’ Americans who are not fans of this genre may say that it’s weird and “uncool”. However, in the words of the visual kei and metal artist Mirai Kawashima of the band Sigh, “It’s not meant to be cool.” I remember being attracted to the visual kei and pop rock artist Gackt when I was 12 years old. I just ran up on his song Redemption while watching random videos on YouTube and that was the end of it. I fell in love with this man and his voice. I was never a fan of pop music of any kind but the way he presented his song with such elegance and power just made my eyes and ears melt. Never once did I think that Gackt seemed feminine, I just saw beauty. When I eventually became a dedicated fan or a “Dear” as he calls us, as many Americans advertise their favorite performers, I did mine. When my friends saw him for the first time, they thought him a girl and possibly homosexual. When my family discovered my newfound fandom, they thought that something was mentally wrong with me. I then started searching for internet communities that were “Dears” of Gackt and other VK artists. I only found a few. The people would generally say that people, for various reasons, had trouble accepting their tastes as well. That’s when I realized that not many, if anybody, would understand this art. America, being the melting pot of all cultures from all countries, would never be able to understand VK less long accept it into mainstream culture. My journey deeper into VK would lead me to find that some musicians will make you want to dance like Antic Café and SuG, some artists ease your mind into meditation like Acid Black Cherry and Rentrer en Soi, and some bands such as Dir en Grey and The GazettE purposely awaken the hidden anger in your soul. Rock may be able to awaken anger but it was never meant to make people dance or meditate. Despite this, these bands were able to make people around the world do such things while using the universal language of music as their vessel. Many of these artists can speak and/or sing in three or more different languages. Many can play five, maybe six instruments and often times record their own songs instead of relying on recording bands. The dialect of visual kei allows the individual artist to explore different angles of their style and memorize the crowd not matter what. But the American senses are adjusted to the computerized, oversexed, and oover-hypedimages of the celebrities and superstars of the media. Not to say that there is no talent among American media, but the demand of the hype has sucked the senses dry. Most American celebrities are mere advertisements of themselves and whoever else they decide to sell themselves to. Visual Kei artists see themselves as artists first and then performers, storytellers, and mostly subtle, occasionally provocative, eye-candy. Advertisements are dead last on the list. There’s no doubt that celebrities are the face of the modern people but not all can actually move a person’s emotions. The American people have lost its ability to understand this and therefore, the ideology, work, and talent behind visual kei is a foreign concept. Visual Kei in American mainstream media would involve raping VK of these concepts. In order for VK to exist as it should be, it must stay in the American underground. more

Open Question: documentation fee when buying 2nd hand car?

i purchased a 2nd hand car from a garage the other day,the 1st guy i spoke to said he would knock off £40 for the hp check etc,i was asked to leave a deposit of £300 which i paid by credit card, nothing was mentioned at this time. when i went to collect the next day a different guy finalised the paperwork and told me oh you made the deposit by credit card theres a 3% charge for that,i told him i wasn't told that at the time but he added £9 on to the bill, there was also a documentation fee of £40 which i thought was the amount they were knocking off. They didnt seem to know what they were doing and forgot to charge me for the road tax, which they have since been in touch and want me to go back today and pay,i asked them what the documentation fee is,and i was told its for the internet advertising and price,(the car was slightly dearer on the forecourt than on autotrader so i pay a bit extra to get it for that price)the valeting, checking the oil and water and the 3 month warranty you get,i also asked for the paperwork for the hpi check(as last time i had one done i got paperwork)but wass told that is covered with the warranty. Surely i shouldnt be paying for them to advertise the car? also if the hpi is with the warranty then as i was told he would knock this fee off are they trying to charge me for what they originally told me they would knock off the price. Also they never gave me a receipt only the receipt for my deposit and the card slips from when i paid my balance i dont know if this is normal what they are doing as ive never had it happen before when buying a car so want to know before i question them about it today more

Open Question: Looking for old victoria bitter commercial (australia) will pay if you find it?

Ok I am looking for a victoria bitter (australian beer) tv commercial which was made between 1978-1985. This ad I am looking for features a few older men holding up a fish at victoria market (in melbourne). I have looked everywhere and cant find it. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can find it? I spoke to the actual advertising agency who own it but they said they are too busy for me to come and go through their archives, I even offered to pay them so I can sit and watch the old commercials but they don't want to waste their time...anyway if someone can find it for me I will happily pay cash for it..I would imagine it would be on the internet (I have searched but only found other vb commercials and not the one I need) but I just cant find where. And just to let you know I have spent 5 years trying to locate this and thought perhaps someone on yahoo answers might be able to help! THanks in advance more

Voting Question: Stelera Wireless internet problems...?

This internet is very frustrating to handle, one week it would be running flawless (these weeks of smooth-running internet is kinda rare). Then the next it would connect to the tower for five seconds, then disconnect, and so on. Its very irritating and Stelera's costumer support is no better than the annoying internet they provide (no offense to them, its more of the companies fault than theirs), so I'm turning to Yahoo answers =). Would there be anything I could do to improve the connectivity of the wireless modem? Or am I doomed? I can see that there is a small port where you might be able to plug in an external antenna, but I don't see an antenna advertised on the website, or anything that would ever plug into it. Plz help. + LOL my internet crapped out-again- as I pressed the continue button so I had to retype this question =/ more

Resolved Question: Random links keep appearing while I type? Might be a virus?

If a link appears at the bottom of my question, PLEASE IGNORE IT. I can't get rid of it :( Anyways, every single time I click to type something in on Internet Explorer, random href links will appear in my text. They'll always lead to something like "Free Poker" or "Free stuff!" or other suspicious things. Also, every time I highlight them and try to delete them, they reappear? It's as if they're trying to force me to advertise? What can I do to stop this?? Example is at the bottom of this paragraph! <a href=http://theypoker.com/ >free poker</a> more

Resolved Question: Can you report illegal alien activity from the comfort of your own home ?

About BlueServo The Texas Border Sheriff's Coalition (TBSC) has joined BlueServoSM in a public-private partnership to deploy the Virtual Community Watch, an innovative real-time surveillance program designed to empower the public to proactively participate in fighting border crime. The TBSC BlueServoSM Virtual Community WatchSM is a FREE service consisting of a network of cameras and sensors along the Texas-Mexico border. This network feeds live streaming video FREE-OF-CHARGE to the user's computer, which they can access by creating a FREE account at www.BlueServo.net. Users will log in to the BlueServoSM website and directly monitor suspicious criminal activity along the border via this virtual fenceSM. Citizens can sign up as Virtual Texas DeputiesSM to participate in border surveillance through this social network. Virtual Texas DeputiesSM from around the country will monitor the streaming video from these cameras 24/7 and report any suspicious activities directly to the Border Sheriffs via email. All emails regarding suspicious activity will be submitted anonymously. The Public, acting as Virtual Texas DeputiesSM, is limited to reporting suspicious activities via email. Local county Sheriffs will respond to these reports, conduct all investigations, and take appropriate actions. This service will provide millions of dollars in benefits to local border Sheriffs, with the public acting as additional pairs of eyes for Deputies on the ground. This extra surveillance will allow the public to directly participate in reducing crime and improving their communities. It is a well-established fact that citizen involvement in community watch programs such as this one reduces crime. Another facet of this program is the ability of the public to connect their own cameras to www.BlueServo.net to create local Virtual Neighborhood WatchesSM in order to protect their own homes, neighborhoods, and families from criminal acts. These Virtual Neighborhood WatchesSM can, in turn, be connected to form additional Virtual Community WatchesSM. Membership on www.BlueServo.net site is free and open to anyone by signing up and obtaining a User Log-In. Because www.BlueServo.net is an internet social network, in the future, BlueServoSM anticipates that high volume of traffic to its website will generate advertising revenue to defray the operations cost of the Virtual Community WatchSM to the Texas Border Sheriff's Coalition. This is the job that I have wanted to do for a long time now. Although I have researched the internet and can not seem to find any information on how to work up to getting to this job role. Even though there are sites set up with information on this Job. I would like a bit more detailed information on what it is like. Preferably from people who have worked in this job role. For example. Is there any set career path to entering this Job role? Or are there any job roles that would be suitable to have and had experience at before entering this job role? What does the job involve? Responsibilities etc? Any qualifications needed? Any idea of the salary in UK Pounds. Working conditions etc. and your opinion on the job whether you liked it or not. It would be nice to have some one's own opinion on it. I'm sorry If I have incorrectly worded this but I tried to make it as clear as possible. more

Resolved Question: Major problems with internet. Possible Spam problem?

Alright, I open an Internet Web Browser as usual, with my home page google and I type in anything from facebook to yahoo answers to addicting games to yahoo to MLB and I click on the links to open the site up problems happen. Now it doesn't want to open whatever site I want and instead it starts to load a bunch of crap, from some directory t some random search engine like thing to some site with numbers in the name and it's a bunch of advertising crap. I am aways careful at what I download and have some of the more recent updated versions of AVG, Ad-Aware and Spy-Bot, and I don't think I got anything bad, but I feel it is most likely a virus/Spam. What my question is has anyone else had this happen to them and stopped it? If so how? Is it a virus/Spam or just some clerical error? Does Microsoft have something to isolate this problem and it's an easy fix, or is this something complicated? more

Voting Question: Windows Moviemaker + Youtube questions?

Ok... so recently ive decided that I want to make some videos to put on youtube and the only thing availible to me to help me make a video is Windows Moviemaker, and I have some questions. Keep in mind I have never used this before, never even looked at it (until now). For my first video I thought it would be cool to make some sort of montage of my favorite games (im a videogamer). Some questions I have though are: 1. Is there anyway to turn on and off the in game music because I was planning to play a song in the background but at times would like to be able to hear portions of the ingame footage. 2. What are the chances youtube will delete my video due to "copyright infringement" and how do I avoid it. I dont know why they would delete a video if im basicly advertising everything in it, but ive heard of people getting their videos deleted for no apparent reason other than that they had a song in it, etc. 3. Is there anyway to make my video look more proffesional? I noticed when entering the credits its just a blue screen and standard white font, is there anyone to customize it a little more? 4. Is there anyway to split multiple parts of a video fast instead of click > split > click > split. I guess I would just like to hold shift and click everywhere I want it to break, but it didnt work. 5. What types of files can I import into moviemaker (most clips I will have to get off the internet...). I have a program that downloads youtube videos into flv format, does this program support that or will I have to convert them to an mp4 or something? Hope those questions made sense, I will probably have more but thats just a few to get answered for now. Thanks in advance!Sorry but I got 2 more questions: 6. Is it possible to increase the time of an effect? 7. Is it possible to seperate the audio of the clip from the video? They seem to be grouped together. I might want to delete or replace a part of the audio corresponding to the clip. Sorry about all the questions, you dont need to answer them all lol. Just as many as possible!Sorry if I wasnt clear but all the questions except #2 are about Windows Moviemakerlol I only have Vista :(. I was thinking about upgrading but it really isnt worth it unless I buy a new computer (im on a laptop right now and it is starting to become outdated). more

Resolved Question: Something (or someone) is using up all of my bandwith!?

A couple of weeks ago I upgraded Windows Vista to Windows 7 64 bit. Everything went well during the installation, although i did forget to uninstall an ATI display driver before the upgrade, and now I cannot install the drivers for my card. Anyways, since about a week ago, my internet here has been extremely slow. It is advertised to go at speeds up to 3Mbps, but I am not getting anywhere close to that speed. I have confirmed that it is not the network's fault or the internet provider, as I have tested the connection with other devices as well. I cannot figure out why my speed has slowed to a crawl on this pc. Please help! P.S: I'm not computer illiterate :DEdit: I did do my research, I just wanted to try out Windows 7 for myself! It was my fault for not putting it in the question. Also, I have 64 bit drivers for my pc. I am computer savvy. :D more

Voting Question: Should I repair my son's PS3?

We really don't have the money to buy a new one so I am researching what we might be able to do so his works better. We have a 60GB PS3 - I know we should have purchased one with a bigger hard drive. The machine is about two years old. His games freeze constantly or seem to run slowly (we have the fastest internet Charter offers so I don't 'think' it is our ISP...but...)I was looking on ebay for a used one and I saw a repair service.I am concerned this is a scam so I thought I would see what some of you think about repair as opposed to purchasing a new one. I am not sure exactly what is offered, I would of course check this out before I were to purchase the repair service. Also, any ideas about a local repair that I can look for? I don't exaclty see PS3 repair advertised around town. Who/where would I go for that ? We live in Southern Oregon.l more

Resolved Question: Yesterday, I rang a small kitchen company...?

who advertised their vacancy on the Internet. They didn't ask me for a CV, but arranged a day for an interview. It's a small kitchen showroom, rather than a large company. Since they didn't ask for my CV/application forms, does this suggest you don't need much skills to work there, or is it because it's a small company? more

Resolved Question: A possible way for the unemployed to pick up some extra money, good or bad idea?

Could there be an internet site combined with maybe a monthly free publication locally to advertise the services and skills of those who want to make a few dollars for small to medium jobs (not enough to affect their benefits, of course) In the olden days this sort of thing was common knowledge from word of mouth as to who needed some work and did a good job for extra money, but today we are isolated and dependent on overwhelmed and backlogged major companies. Should the unemployed start a grassroots movement to advertise their skills so we can help them out, maybe call it Word of Mouth?Another idea would be to call it "I Know Someone Who..." and then could list various skills, such as fix your water pipe, replace your door, load up your furniture for a move, drive the truck, change your tire, whatever skills each unique individual has for some extra money. Just a thought. Feel free to criticize or add ideas.Ms. Minerva. I certainly would never suggest anything fraudulent. I have never been unemployed and have no idea what the laws are. I thought they were required to report any income, and would prefer to work and report it. If they failed to report it then the burden would be on them for fraud. I am suggesting above the table, not under the table. more

Resolved Question: Smacking Laws Scotland?

I need to research the Scottish Smacking Laws but in greater detail than the right to reasonable punishment. I am allowed to use websites like this for my research. The most important section is who is legally allowed to smack, the one I'm most wanting to find out about is babysitters and family (not a parent), are babysitters allowed to smack with the parents permission, and also family members such as aunties, uncles, grandparents, older cousins etc, If babysitters or family aren't allowed and they do it anyway, does the parent have the right not to press charges. PLEASE NOTE: this is research, I am asking what is legal, not your personal opinion. If for example a babysitter is legally allowed to with parental permission, say so, don't say no just because you disagree. Also, I need to know other details for example, what areas of the body can legally be smacked, I know the head and face are off limits, is the bum legal, or hands or legs. If the bum is legal to smack I need to know a few things, I know that it's illegal to use an device such as a belt, but are there regulations regarding what layers of clothing, are you allowed to smack the child's bare bum, if not what about smacking over underwear. What age are you legally allowed to smack a child, I'm assuming 16 is the age where you legally can't as they are considered an adult, If you can please provide as many of these details as possible, if you have anything else then please say so as well. Like I say this is about what's legal not your personal opinion, so please say what's legal before anything else, feel free to add your opinion to the bottom, I'm interested to hear peoples opinions on the matter, PLEASE NOTE: If people say their opinion (after talking about it from a legal point of view) or talk about their expieriance as a child or as a parent, these comments may be used in the purpose of my research but personal details such as names, or even yahoo account details will be kept private. I am also doing three surveys on the matter for parents who smack to fill out. Basically I'm advertising the surveys on the internet (like this website) to and when I have 100 of each then I'm going to roughly work out percentages of parents who smack in different ways and so on, all three surveys are the same questions but for different age ranges, one is for parents whos child is under the age of 5, another is for parents whos child is between 5 and 10 and the final one is for parents whos child is 10 or over. If you are interested in taking part in the survey please E-mail me at spanking_starts@hotmail.com telling me how many children you have and their age ranges and I will E-mail you the surveys, they are very short, and will take less than 5 minutes per survey paper. No surveys will be E-mailed until Friday the 13th of August. I am also making a website about the topic, this will be launched on Friday the 13th as well, anyone who wants the web address please ask in a comment, oh yeah and if you email for the survey then please say so in a comment so I know to check the inbox. I am at college studying something unrelated to the topic, but I need to do English within the course work, I need to do a discursive essay which is basically talking about the pros and cons of a topic and I chose smacking as I thought it would be the easiest. I deliver the essay at the end of this year, but I don't want to wait until last minute. I need time to get 100 of each survey in so I can start working out the percentages and stuff, the survey will let me know roughly how effective smacking is as a punishment, so then I can write this in the discursive essay, also I am going to start of with the law side of things as I've noticed some people are confused about this and think theres an outright ban, then I'm going to go into statistics and stuff, I need to do the statistics and stuff myself as it's English the teacher needs to see that I have communication skills (as I need to communicate while obtaining this for myself), I am also setting up the website (comment to know more) to see how deep people feel about topic, please comment telling me about the law side of things, (the questions I asked at the beginning), then if you emailed about the survey please say so in the comment and if you want more details about the new website. more

Resolved Question: Is this a profitable company idea?

I would like to become very rich (10 million plus) someday. Currently, I have a few years of experience working at a management consulting firm, building websites, and Internet marketing. I have an idea for a company. I would start a company which buys small websites that are either under valued or need work. The company would then fix up the site by adding content, changing themes, marketing, etc. We would hold onto the site for a few months to build up value while at the same time, we would be making money from the site with the ads on the site. After a few months, the company would sell the site for profit. Do you think I could be super rich (10 million plus) with this company. Since I don't have to advertise the company itself (since we don't sell products or have a service), our startup costs would only be to build up our portfolio of websites. By the way, would our company be considered a private equity firm? What type of company is a company that buys and sells other companies, or in our case, websites? Do you think this company could be profitable? Should I do it? more

Resolved Question: Is my tenant's Virginia employer breaking the law?

Okay, let me start with saying my tenant is mentally challenged, so A) the details about this are very hazy and B) he frequently gets taken advantage of by employers. He is an unlicensed massage therapist for a hair salon and spa. They offered massages before he started there, but he is currently their only therapist. The agreement is that he is paid 50% of every massage and keeps any tips received. When he went to pick up his paycheck, the salon owner said he "didn't have anything on the books" even though he had done 15 half-hour massages that week. The owner told him that those massages are part of an advertising campaign to "build up his business" and all of those clients used a coupon for a free massage. Therefore half of free is nothing, so the owner does not have to pay him (he has kept any tips he receives from these massages, but that is all). My tenant did not request this advertising campaign or have anything to do with it. He is not the owner of the massage therapy aspect of the business, so any advertising is for the salon, not for my tenant specifically. IMHO, the salon owes him for half of what each of those massages would have cost, regardless what kind of coupon the client used. I have to believe it is illegal to not pay him for his services. Does anyone know enough about Virginia employment law to shed some light on this situation? My internet searches are coming up short (and since he's coming up short on the rent, I definitely want to know the answer!). Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Can anyone help me get referrals for Freebie Jeebies?

I've signed up for Freebie Jeebies and to get a free iPhone 4 I need 29 referrals. I don't know if I am aiming to high with my first gift! I signed up when I seen it advertised elsewhere on the internet. I chose my free gift - the iPhone and then signed up for a free trial. I chose the LoveFilm trial because it's free and I can cancel it when the free period is over. So now Freebie Jeebies has provided me with a website link and I need to get 29 people to sign up to my link and then sign up to a free offer. My link: http://apple.freebiejeebies.co.uk/360655 So would anyone like to help me out and sign up? Or does anyone have any good ideas for getting people to sign up? I'm kinda struggling a bit and any help would be appreciated. Has anyone tried advertising in ebay or gumtree, or would these adds be taken down straight away. Thanks!! more

Resolved Question: Anybody hear of N.S.I Business Development & Training? There's a job ad, wondering if...?

...it's a scam or not.The company is advertising a job for dryer and vent cleaners on HotJobs dot com. Called them up and they want me to pay about $300 to buy the equipment to get started.Have you ever worked for, or heard of this company before? Been ripped off by them? Or is this a legitimate business opportunity and not just another one of the many scams floating about the Internet? Here's a link to one of their ads:http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/job-JJXIDQYAN9C;_ylt=AmTACScnBfRfdHRR3qmbjwf6Q6IX?search_url=%2Fjob-search-l-Arroyo_Grande-CA-k-northstar%2520services-m-1I looked them up on BBB.org, and they're in good standing with the Better Business Bureau, but they did have 11 complaints (although resolved) in the past 36 months.Any input at all would be great! Thanks. more

Voting Question: When is world Islamic council going to launch ad-free internet service to rival yahoo, msn, google, and so on?

It's something that should be provided for the world-wide ummah so we can communicate on internet without advertising. We should be able to get news and information from rival sources to all the ones run by the Ad people, ones that are from the ummah. We should be building a self-sufficient online community free from the Ad people. more

Resolved Question: Did the car seller break English contract law?

I agreed to buy, from a private seller, an internet-advertised car without seeing it, and after a short haggle had a verbal "virtual handshake" with the seller over the phone. I made him aware that the funds I needed to buy the car were already on their way, having been ordered before I saw the car ad, and would arrive soon. I phoned him twice to say the money hadn't arrived yet, and asked/told him not to sell the car to anyone else. He replied, "Don't worry, Ed". That was Friday evening. On Saturday morning he said he was sorry but he'd sold it to someone who turned up with the cash. My funds arrived the next working day. I tried to put this behind me nut the car was absolutely ideal for my purpose and I can't find another one as perfect. I learned today the car is still at his house until Saturday when the buyer will come to collect it. This set me thinking and I feel I have been wronged by a Breach of Contract under English law. I read the Wikipedia entry on "English contract law" and it seems to back up my gut feeling. What should I do next. I really want that car at the price we agreed. The seller in question is a banker who obviously isn't poor and is well educated and intelligent.I twice offered to pay a deposit "to show my good faith" but he didn't take me up on it. This lead me to believe he trusted me to follow through, so I was surprised at what happened.I don't really want to going suing him, I just want to know if I have the law on my side. Then I can put my case to him and hope that he realises his mistake, and I get the car. more

Resolved Question: Here is a question for Internet etiquette?

Let's say you have a friend who does business and advertising on several of their own sites. While checking out what's for sale, you notice a spelling or grammatical error in one of the advertisements. Do you bring it to the person's attention, or just leave off, knowing that the site is updated frequently? you don't want your friend coming off as someone who isn't educated or whatever; But if you do point it out, is it a strain on a friendship.Me, I don't mind, and would like to have it pointed out so that I could fix it quickly; but that's just me....Any suggestions?Gypsy more

Resolved Question: Why aren't I getting any clients?

I run a freelance graphic design business and I have sent offers to a billion people advertising on Craigslist that they are looking for graphic designers and web designers. But I haven't gotten one single client despite my most dedicated efforts. Please read this email and tell me if I am saying something wrong or perhaps my offers aren't convincing? Maybe the emails are too long? I put all the quick info in the beginning and then all the details after in case they want to quickly read the email. Maybe they don't like my website? I need your help, guys! Thanks in advance. :) -- Hi there, (name withheld). My name is Andrew and I am SmallDot Design. I'd like to offer you my services to create you your dream site for a static price of $700 for a custom site, or $500 for a template based site. Andrew SmallDot Design smalldotdesign.zxq.net Call: ###-###-#### (don't want any of you calling me haha)@ Smiling: Whoa sorry. Yes I have been a bit over zealous about "dream website" but I do mean well even If I am overly enthusiastic. EVERYONE please note- the other sites that are in the portfolio are sites I made as demos or for friends or family. NOT legit clients. (When I say client, I mean someone who I do not know who accepted an offer for my services.) @Smiling: What do you mean my portfolio is a lie? I don't understand what that is supposed to mean. I made everything in it and all the websites ARE LIVE. Why don't you actually click the >> button on the bottom corner instead of accusing me of fraud. Now, yes. It was a bad move on my part for not using a more intuitive way to access the sites. But they exist. Promise. Are you saying that $700 is too cheap to believe that I'd make people a full website, or are you just saying that the sites I've made are really only Frontpage sites. more

Resolved Question: what are my rights re returning a item off the internet that isn't what it says.?

I have been in constant contact with them and they write back saying they have sent a new bolt (still not received) i said i want to return it at their cost as i now dont want it being the wrong size they stated and that it has no fittings. They say that they only stated what their manufacturer had said it was. Where do i stand now do i have to keep it. Please help i have my beautiful tv stood on my "workmate" looking awful. more

Resolved Question: When looking for a breeder, why are some things a turn-off?

So, the other day I found this answer/discussion, and thought it was really interesting. What is the ideal breeder, to you? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100727222426AAEBA0m&r=w&pa=AptqD2bwHTHc5uGAZ6U2vfNACgrHqzAdrvJz3HSqIC_vUw--&paid=voted However I did have a couple questions about certain points I'd read, and I'd like to hear both sides of opinions, and well, a more in-depth explanation. (A1 = Answer 1, A2= Answer 2, etc). Also, fyi, none of this is trolling, I actually want to know why, and questioning a certain point doesn't necessarily mean I think it's wrong. A1"Their dam has had no more than two litters, and between 2-4 years old." Why only two litters? What's the absolute absolute maximum amount of litters a dam should have, and what is the recommended amount? From what else she said, the dam would be having one litter at 2, and the second at 3-3.5. The not younger than 2 reason is obvious, but I thought that people did breed their dams even when older than 4. So....why say 4? Other breeders (as this was only 1 person), In your opinion, at what age should a dam be stop being bred? A2 "Doesn't ship puppies or sell online" A16 "- they CANNOT advertise on the internet, newspaper, Craigslist, Kijiji, Penny Saver, or anything of the like!" Okay, I totally understand not advertising on most things on the internet, but is having a website for one's kennel, and stating "I'm planning on having a breeding around this date", considered advertising? Would you stay away from a breeder that has a website, or am I just putting the wrong interpretation on this point? Also, would shipping be a 100% no point? Say, if the buyer lived quite a ways away, met the breeder in a face-to-face meeting before they bought the pup, then if the buyer was approved, and when the pup was old enough, was shipped to lessen the expense (and also stress of a much longer trip otherwise)? Or are there other dangers/problems involved in shipping that young a dog that I (obviously) don't know about? Thanks for your thoughts and opinions!@CGC Pit Bull: why do you say no older than 4? Is it health risks increase, size of litters, health of litters, etc? I'm just curious as to why you put that upper limit At 4- the scientific reasons behind that decision.@Curtis: would you require a face-to-face meeting with the other person before you bought (or sold) the dog? Or would you be willing to sell and ship based just on phone conversations/email/webcam etc.? Or would you base your decision on each individual breeder/buyer? more

Voting Question: I want to make a couple of websites, what are the best resources/free servers?

I don't have a lot of experience with coding but I'd be more than happy to learn. I just have a couple of problems. The first is that I don't currently have any money to dedicate to this, so I can't just go out and take a semester at the local community college or buy some books on the topic. If they're something I can find at the library I could try to make that work though. The second problem is that I seem to be having a really hard time finding information on the internet that I can use and telling which free servers would be the best for what I need. I want to make two websites. The first one will hopefully be a site advertising an organization I'm helping to form with a friend. I need to be able to have a main page and various links leading to other parts of the website where goods will be sold. I'd like if I could set up some sort of shopping cart from there and then people can just add things to the shopping cart and make a payment during checkout that will go to a paypal account. The second website I want to be a profile site. Where people can sign up and search for other members in their area, maybe create groups. I'll need to have a donation area set up and I'd like if members could get points for activity that could go towards purchasing certain benefits on the site like being able to see who has viewed their profile and things like that. Right now I'm looking for any and all information, this includes links to free severs that you think I would be able to use, information on how to code a webpage and pretty much anything else you can think of. I'm not sure if I provided all the information people might need to make recommendations here so if more details are needed just e-mail me at cheshire_engel@hotmail.com more

Resolved Question: Would it be cheaper to offer him commission or do it myself?

I am getting things together to start a residential cleaning business and I need to get some business cards, a website, some flyers, and ads to post on the internet. I was thinking about offering my brother the job, because he has his own advertising company that does this kind of stuff. However, since his business has been put on the backburner, I would like to offer him a set amount of commission on jobs that I get from his advertising instead of a huge flat rate (to keep start-up costs down). What is a reasonable rate - that doesn't leave him feeling cheated, but also doesn't leave me without a profit? What percentage do I offer him, and for how long does he get to make profits of these ads? 6 months, 2 years.... forever? more

Resolved Question: question about SEO for website?

I want to create an online boater exam course. There are currently 2-3 online courses (you have to be approved by a national association) which offer a course leading to a boating safety certificate in the 42 states which offer one. The material is straightforward and there is not much difference between the courses; I have a different approach to wrong answers and review of material which will make me competitive, but not superior; to the others. My question is this: I don't know how the other sites (found by Googling boat exam or boat course) advertise or do SEO, and I need to know what I would have to do with either SEO or a "sponsored site" to get my site on the first page. (There isn't any affordable way of advertising off the Internet.) Also I need to know the probable cost per month of such SEO or "sponsored site" or other Internet advertising. more

Resolved Question: Three Mobile Sim with Free Skype offer. Is it free if Skype is being used on a computer instead of a phone?

I've recently received a Three Mobile Sim Card that advertises free Skype and Windows Messenger calls and conversations (free bandwidth) from 'compatible mobile phones'. I have ordered the sim with the sole purpose of using it in a USB dongle to connect a computer to the internet. I pay £10 a month for 1Gb of downloads. I won't be using much bandwidth, so this is fine, but it would be a very handy bonus if the use of Skype and Messenger on the computer was not deducted from this 1Gb. I know the dongle isn't technically a "compatible mobile phone", but are the protocols in use the same? Are Three Mobile likely to charge me? Of course, I could just check my usage before and after, but I just wondered if anybody already knew. Thank you for reading! more

Resolved Question: wifi blu ray and internet browsing?

I've scoured the internet for some answers, but I end up empty-handed. I am interested in a wifi blu ray player, but how does one browse the internet with it? From what I've seen, you can connect to Netflix, Amazon VOD, and YouTube, but can connect only through the blu ray applications you download? Is there a browser option on there where it will allow me to browse the internet, such as streaming movies from OTHER websites, NOT limiting to the usual Netflix, and others they advertise? Thanks! :)That's so lame that they have not yet integrated a browser in it. Thank you. more
