Open Question: Is it just me about lyrics?

Is it just me that feels this way or does it make sense that I don't really put a big priority on lyrics. I mean that, I love songs and lyrics but I don't put them at the very forefront of whether I like a song or not. I usually pay attention to the technical aspects of what's going on, like a guitar riff or drums or whatever. Then if I like that I'll pay attention to the lyrics. But even if they're not that good then I'll still listen to a song as long as the background is good. Also is it just me, or does it seem hard to interpret lyrics? I usually miss the point until I look it up on Songfacts. more

Listening to the radio the other day and a song came on with lyrics consisting of: "Upside down". The song ended in with the guy singing "please don't leave". So I've been searching and I can't find any matches. I'm pretty sure it's a 90's song, or early 2000's. It's a band, lead singer is a guy. Open Question: I think im going crazy, is this normal?

ive been seeing things like people and i look at them 1st cause they are just staring at me and then sooner or later they disappear in a blink of an eye. I have touched them before and i feel them like they are real and if i lean on them and they disappear i would fall to the ground. I also hear things and they are people talking but i can't understand them and sometimes if i listen to music they would change the lyrics. It all started when i had this vision thing and it ended with me watch someone die but it was dark to tell who it was and blood spattered on me. Also had these dreams where someone is trying to kill me and he wears all black and i can't see his face. The dreams all ways end with me dieing or he dies but i have another dream and he comes back alive. Now he is dead but I think hes gonna come sooner or later and its getting really annoying. Is this normal or am I like sick in the head? If you can, can you tell me how i can stop this or what causing this without going to the doctor. thanks =] more

Open Question: What are some good death metal bands with not-so-intense lyrics?

If such a thing exists. Allow me to explain myself. I'm interested in finding some awesome death metal bands. I've never really listened to that kind of metal before, but I've found a few cool thing...For the record I don't consider A7x and the like to be 'awesome bands'. -The lyrics can't be anti-Christian. This is by far my biggest problem. It's not that I'm silly enough to think that one would be sent to hell for listening to metal or something. It's just that bands with satanic or anti Christian lyrics make it harder for me to really get into and enjoy the music. It's kinda offensive, in the same way that someone who isn't a Christian might find christian music annoying. That being said, I don't mind if the lyrics talk about other religions. I.e. I love viking metal, it's awesome. As long as they don't disrespect christianity. Heck, it can talk about Satanism, as long as it isn't condoning it (like Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast :D) So the sort of thing I find acceptable lyrically: Iron Maiden, "Cowboys from Hell", Ensiferum, Megadeth. Not acceptable: Goatwhore, Deicide, Rotting Christ. Get the picture? And the songs can talk about morbid subjects, as long as they don't go too over the top with it. I don't mind a bit of gore. I.e. Amon Amarth, songs about war; Candlemass 'Solitude', kinda depressing but it works. Lastly, not too much swearing or sexual language. You know... Sorry that was long, I'm just really interested.PS: I don't care how extreme the instrumentals/voice is at all. I have discovered that a LOVE that! ;D more

Open Question: Why did early rappers have such terrible flow and stupid lyrics?

I was listening to some rap from the late 70's and early 1980's (Kurtis Blow, Kool Herc, Spoonie Gee, and others), and it's TERRIBLE! Those dudes had zero sense of lyrical flow. Everything was totally blunt and clunky with them. And their lyrics were usually fairly stupid, too. Why was this? Why were early rappers so terrible at rapping? Even a lot of the "good" rap from the 80's (like Erik B., Rakim, Public Enemy, and so on) still sounds really clunky compared to Christopher Wallace or Tupac Shakur a few years later. Why? more

What name is this christian rap/hip hop song? I listened to this christian sort of rap/hip hop song. The music to it was kind of mellow/dancy at the same time. It had this guy rapping about this little girl who was I think filipino or asian of some sort and she was abused and sold for her body and she was little. Also the chorus had this lady singing kind of weirdly. The song I heard was played back in 2007-2008 on the christian rock radio station. Does anybody know this song and who sings/raps it? I definitely know it wasn't KJ52, Toby Mac or John Reuben. I cannot remember any of the lyrics sadly, as I've only heard the song twice maybe. So there is this song that plays at work and every time it plays I stop and try to listen for lyrics so I can google them later, I never can get a good chance to listen because I have to help customers or at least make it seem like I'm busy, the only lyrics I managed to hear and remember are "The non-believer slash heat seeker" and another line im not sure exactly how it went but he says something like "Its 86 Sean style ridin' wild" or "Its 86 Sean wild ridin' style" or something like that... at first I thought it sounded like Yak Ballz and even Braille at certain points, but I've already tried to Google the few lyrics I heard and I can't find anything... Don't kill me, but this is going to be quite confusing. I was laying in bed the other night when a song popped into my head, and I immediately had to listen to it. Thinking I would remember it in the morning, I just went to sleep. When it came time to Google it, I drew a -complete- blank. Here's what I know: --- It's a duet, sung by a man and a woman. Open Question: Guys, how can a girl tell if she's in the friend zone with you? or can't she?

You'd think it would be obvious and it may be most of the time, but I have a weird thing going on with one of my friends. He's 26 I'm 24 for whatever its worth. Are there any tell tale signs? Here are some examples that make me wonder if he's trying to send me "signs" or what the heck!? lol! He is very very shy and it takes him a while to make any sort of advances on girls he likes-I know this to be true. He sent me the name of a Nirvana song called "Drain You" telling me he thinks I'll like the song. The lyrics from what I got were the singer likes a person he's singing about. hmm...? could be nothing I know but it did strike me as odd when I started listening to it. The other night he was over watching a movie. He was on a couch next to my couch. We come back in from having a smoke, I go to the bathroom and he is sitting on my couch... He gives me hugs good-bye. The hugs just don't feel like hugs I get from my other guy friends, but again its confusing me because he is a very sweet guy all around, so again...confusion... I'm not a fan of Nickelback, I just don't see why people hate them more than any other band. I know that they sold out but so did a ton of other bands yet nobody hates them THAT much. Honestly, what is the exact reason? What makes them so much worse than let's say Blink-182? Every single Blink-182 song is about their ex-girlfriends and Tom can't play one simple powerchord right. Open Question: Could I start a band, and record my album?

I'm 16 and I have starting writing a lot of songs (most of which are not finished). I have made 9 songs to which I want to make an album with. It will be a Pink Floyd tribute album. I have the main idea's down and I have titled most songs (some I might change) but big problem: I don't have a band and I don't really play any instruments. I have experience with the guitar but I don't play very often. I would like to learn how to play the bass, but I don't know anyone who plays any instruments at my school or anything. I don't know if it's possible without a band. I need somebody to write the music too, but I know what the songs will sound like atleast. So what do you think? I'm going into 11th grade this year and I want a hobby but nothing sparks my interest except music. I love listening to it and writing lyrics. Open Question: Katy Perry or Lady Gaga?

Who do YOU think is better. I don't care if this question has been asked before, I checked and it's from around a year or more since this question was lst asked. A lot has changed since then. I say Katy Perry. I feel that Lady Gaga is trying to hard to be controversial . And also, she's not as original as a lot of people around my age (14) may think. Her song Alejandro was basically a remake of the ace of base song Don't Turn Around. I loved Alejandro, until I heard my dad listening to Ace of Base and thought he was listening to Gaga, until I heard the lyrics. And her video for Alejandro was like a remake of Madonna's La Isla Bonita , with the religious symbols and the Spanish. And Vogue, with the black and white dancing and the pointy bras. Lady Gaga is just trying to hard to be different, and original, but it just makes her unoriginal (IN MY OPINION) . I really like Katy Perry, though. Lady Gaga does have a better voice, but I like Katy's better. If I hear a brand new Katy song, but I didn't know who sang it, I would just know it's her, just like singers like Shakira. With all of Gaga's crazy antics, I feel like she's trying to make people talk, even though she says she doesn't care what people think. Gaga's songs can be catchy, but they get old so easily because they get way to over played. So yea, Gaga or Perry? Haters, get out. Don't care how many times this question has been asked. Open Question: Lil Wayne or Led Zeppelin?

I'd have to go with Lil Wayne. Dead Zeppelin is a shame to all music, especially the genre they're "credited" with saving and being a major influence in: ROCK. I mean, but they're geniuses, right? Their riffs are so original! They're a very innovative band! **NO.** They stole half of their riffs by GOING TO OTHER BANDS'S CONCERTS and listening to the riffs, and then TRANSFORMING them and becoming more famous off of them. Dazed and Confused is from a musician named Jake Holmes, who had a song of the same name and chords, and even some of the same lyrics! Jimmy Page was playing the guitar where Jake was playing the concert, and later, Dead Zeppelin put it on an album and it became one of their hits. Jake sent Jimmy Page a letter asking for acknowledgement and maybe a LITTLE money if he could spare. No one answered. I'll bet you that some day, we'll find the letter in a trash can somewhere in a dumpster. What an ungrateful band filled with thieving bastards. On top of that, Robert Can't's voice could shatter enough glass to kill 300 people in an office building, but deafen them before their demise. He's either flat, sharp, or shrieking so loud and high, you can't even tell. "High" is what he was when he was singing, probably. Lil Wayne, on the other hand, is a REAL ROCK MUSICIAN. Do you know what he did? He picked up a guitar, and with that guitar, he created magic. Listen to "Prom Queen" with his passionate voice and guitar skills. He's simply one of the best musicians we've ever had. Hopefully there will be Rock Musicians to follow him and do the same thing. Lil Wayne is one of the few musicians that never uses AutoTune. I don't know much about it and I can't even remember some of the lyrics but I remeber that I really liked it when I was younger. I think it was out between '00 and '05 but I could be way off. The video was like a girl looking out her window at the cute guy next door (no, it's not Taylor Swift's, you belong with me) the singer was male and there was a line in the song about the guy next door being really cool and how he listens to blink 182. Resolved Question: Hateful songs about girls?

I often feel really depressed about one girl that I like a lot... The thing is (as you might pull from context) she doesn't feel the same way... And I find out that (at least for me) when you are depressed it is good to listen to some brutal hateful songs and turn sadness to hate... I'm a metal-head so I can take whatever you throw at me... Just to be really hateful, and possibly have some kind of screams and growls... I will give you an example of few songs that I liked... These songs are by Bring Me The Horizon... So I listened to "Black & Blue", "Braille", "Medusa"... and I liked them a lot, mostly because of False Chord scream and lyrics... Most of the their other songs are regular emo crap... I find these songs really good when you are feeling depressed about the person you like... I liked also "My Curse", "End of Heartache" by Killswitch Engage, "Beautiful" by Creed, "Nymphetamine" by Cradle of Filth, "Awake" by Godsmack, "Nameless", "Vermilion" by Slipknot etc... But most of these songs are making me more depressed... So I need some heavier and more hateful stuff.... Thanks in advance. ;)@Edgar...
