Resolved Question: Isn't the Bachelor/Bachelorette Based on a False Premise?

In the 14 seasons of the Bachelor, no bachelor has yet married the woman he chose. One single relationship lasted 5 years, but ended in a very nasty way with police involved. Another couple married off the show, but the bachelor married the runner-up after a public breakup. All in all, the Bachelor "relationships" have averaged only a few months. The track record for the Bachelorette is nearly as bad: Only Trista and Ryan were married (and as of August 2010 are still married); last year's Bachelorette, Jillian Harris, reportedly has broken up with Kiptyn. The status of Ali's and Roberto's relationship is unclear at this point. Regardless, the % success for the Bachelor, of 14 men, is 0%. The success (not counting Ali) is 20% (1 of 5). Given the extremely small odds of success- literally nil in the case of the men-why do people still go on this show thinking they will find "true love"? Of course I am sure most go on the show for publicity purposes, as is now obvious in the case of Jake Pavelka- and not love, but there are probably a few who think they will find true love on this show. But it seems silly. The entire premise is flawed: no one ever falls in love off a public show that artificially generates emotions extracted by manipulative self-serving producers. In fact, that is probably why relationships off the show do not last: the couples are in a reality show "bubble", where the producers create a wholly unrealistic environment, full of great catering, amazing locations, and paradisiacal weather. I am sure many are convinced into feeling something that quickly dissipates after the end of the show, when the great food, great locations, and great decor dissapear. What do you think? Hasn't the show in some sense become a parody of itself? Does anyone take this show seriously anymore?Correction: Jillian and Ed, not Kiptyn. more

Resolved Question: How can a 13 year old make money fast?

I'm 13 and I am trying to save up for a decent laptop, but I am a deckhand and people haven't been booking charters in Port Aransas due to the false publicity of the oil spill. I only have about $150.00 which isn't going to get me a good laptop before the summer ends. I am leaving for Panama in November which doesn't give me alot of time to make money, so if you can think of anything that will help me get some money quick please tell. more

Resolved Question: Is there anyone else who didn't know about this before coming here?

Before I came here, I used to watch the Lifetime channel from time to time, when I was feeling particularly like watching a chick flick. Usually you'd see After-School Special types of movies about women being physically abused by their spouse, or molested by a family member, or date raped by... their.. date... There would be all these stories about women who would "tell the world" they were raped, and the viewer was supposed to cheer them on for their bravery when nobody would believe them. Yes, I know, it's an After-School Special type of movie, but moving along here. Until I came on YA, I never had a clue that people were actually accused of rape when they didn't commit the crime. I know it sounds stupid, but I thought that if it happened, then it was extremely rare, or maybe the girl just couldn't remember the face of her rapist correctly. The percentage out there is unknown for sure, but some statistics put it anywhere from 15% to 40% (the 40 being in specific cases.) It's hard for me to believe the existence all these false reports, but you have to realize there are some out there, whether it be accidental (picked the wrong guy out of a lineup - probably rare), or intentional (getting back at someone.) Why is the knowledge of this evil not more widespread? There are extremely rare diseases that get more publicity. I know there were 2 quite public cases - Kobe Bryant and the Duke Lacrosse team, but, shouldn't there be more awareness on this topic other than just those two? Have you heard more on this? Is there any topic you had rarely or never heard about before coming on to YA and gaining more insight? more

Resolved Question: I wondered since 1959 if this was fact or just publicity, Now I'm going to ask the pros.?

In the old movie BEN HUR starring Chariton Heston, during the chariot race, in one scene a man falls out of one chariot and is run over by the chariot behind. It shows the man flopping up in the air as it is trampled by the horses and then run over by the chariot. It is a wide spread rumor here in Texas that the scene is real and was a tragic accident caught on film. It was left in the movie as a tribute to the dead stuntman. Does anyone know for sure if this is true or false? more

Resolved Question: Obama supporters getting desperate?

"Democrat - Naples resident John Lundin filed the complaint against the Naples Tea Party with the Florida Election Commission in March, alleging that the group was in violation of the Florida Division of Elections laws for not filing as a political committee while endorsing federal candidates. All charges were dismissed." "Lundin is also behind the opposition group formed to counter Naples Tea Party rallies, calling themselves “Obamarmy.” At the Naples Tea Party held on February 6th, Obamarmy was able to muster 15 to 20 supporters of President Obama policies to counter over 3,000 Naples Tea Partiers." "After this spectacle, Lundin regrouped and checked out all the Left-wing web-sites that offered strategies to kill the Tea Party movement. He came up with the false complaint regarding election violations, knowing full well he would lose, but the subsequent newspaper story gave him the publicity he was seeking." Resolved Question: Is there any way to report false advertising practices?

The VP of the company I once worked for has a habit of making things up to gain publicity. On one occasion he got a news crew to come to the store to interview him on having sold a million dollar item... this was a bald faced lie and we were told to keep quiet about it or lose our jobs. The claim was that a "high profile"executive from NY flew down and "just had to have" this item and he happily coughed up a million bucks for it. The item in question was a piece on loan from the parent company, retailed for 200k (a far cry from a million dollars) and was never sold. It sat in the case for 2 weeks while the public, having seen the news and subsequent online articles, wandered through to see this million dollar item. Then it was "shipped to its new owner in NY" when it actually went back to the parent company. If questioned, we were instructed to lie to our customers and back up this story. Anyway, this practice continues and the VP will happily lie to the public to make a sale. Is there anything I can do to stop this? more

Resolved Question: Who believes that thier is a showdow government who really runs everything?

The powerful conspirators are made up largely of the international bankers, and the Illuminati, which is a super-rich organization, which controls the mainstream media, workforce, education system, companies, banks, energy supplies and governments. They are controlled by the richest people in the world such as the super-rich Rothschild and Rockefeller families. They also hide behind many organizations such as the United Nations, the WTO and the Council on Foreign relations. There is also a Jesuit-Vatican connection, planning the merging of many faiths into the apostate one world church which will serve Satan. The New Age movements are also part of the plan. To gain full control of the world's money would mean full control over everyone, especially those in debt. This is exactly what the international bankers conspiracy is doing. Every government is in debt to them. This debt is increasing. Personal debt is very widespread and increasing. Hence almost everyone is in debt. Wasteful spending, borrowing and debt are encouraged. Therefore people and governments are becoming increasingly in the bankers control, as they have to pay interest, which the bankers can manipulate to their will. Governments are forced to sell assets, lose sovereignty, and place citizens in poverty to repay their debt. The conspirators are privatising, buying and controlling government assets. The conspirators bribe governments with political donations. They gain ownership of land through world heritage, which is then miss-managed and restricted. Things that prove a trend towards a one world government include; a rising amount of globalization, free trade, privatization, foreign investment, mergers, international organizations, debt, international problems that need an international solution and peace agreements that give false security. The Hidden Power article (14.5) has very strong proof of this and the following 12 points. Please judge for yourself about what the report says. I have briefly summarized what it says below but there is much more. It is worth spending a few days to read it. It claims all the recent wars over about the last 200 years were deliberately caused by the international bankers and people trying to control the world. The article states the wars were deliberately funded and agitated by hate propaganda through the conspirators' media. Boom and bust cycles along with the depressions, stock market crashes and wars are deliberately caused to cause people to lose money to the conspirators. They also weaken the people and tame governments into accepting the conspirators' solutions. The history books controlled by the conspiracy do not tell the full truth on why many events happen. For example the conspirators blame slavery for the American civil war but the real reason was to establish a central bank in the USA and to force a war to enable them to lend money at interest. The war caused a need for the North to borrow money and the bankers bribed congress that a central bank was needed for this and also threatened congress and senators. The North won and the bank was established. The conspirators bribed members of the government by paying them and having them work for the bank. Intense deceptive media publicity convinced the public and politicians of the benefit of the Federal Reserve Act. It was done in ways such as by lying and saying that the banks will reduce boom and bust cycles. The Federal Reserve Act was passed near Christmas when few people were present to vote against it. Hitler was funded by the USA and Britain to create a bigger war. The U.S. government controlled by the bankers conspiracy, wanted Hitler to invade America but he declined due to the risk of the number of Americans with guns. The U.S. government also encouraged Japan to invade Pearl harbour to get America into the war. The bankers funded Arab and Japanese companies to buy up property around the world so the bankers could gain more control of it. Manipulation of agriculture has and will be used to force the population to accept the conspirators' demands such as having to surrender guns to get food. The U.S deliberately tried to lose the Korean and Vietnam War so the communists would remain with territory. The war was to make it acceptable to fight under NATO and UN command. Although involved with the conspiracy since his initial rise to power, President Kennedy was killed by an agent of the conspiracy for wanting to pull out of Vietnam and printing silver currency. Many countries now with conflicts had peace until the influence of International Bankers Conspiracy. The collapse of the Soviet Union was a hoax to fool the world into a false sense of security and also to slowly cause the world to accept communism. The bankers funded the Soviet Union to create an arms race, which cost time and money. Also it caused the nations to gladly surrender their arms in the name of peace so that the goal  more

Resolved Question: TRUE or FALSE: The role of Scarlett O'Hara from "Gone With the Wind" was won in a contest ...?

Although it would be clearly evident today that Vivien Liegh was perfect for the covetted role of the downtrodden southern belle, it was not so during the casting of the film.... "Gone With the Wind" was a huge seller in 1936 and the part of Scarlett was to be highly scrutinized by not just the studio but the numerous many fans of the book... Casting a proven actress was considered as there were several who wanted the part - and considering that Scarlett would be in almost every scene that would have been a no-brainer but not for David Selznik --- his search for Scarlett was to be someone who would BECOME Scarlett and the public would see her as Scarlett -- not just an actress playing Scarlett so the hunt was on ---- open auditions for thousands of unknown actresses and added publicity for the film which in itself garnered much scrutiny for the project in general -- Who would be Scarlett? *** True or False *** more

Resolved Question: Vaccinations, was everyone aware of this retraction?

In 1998 Dr Andrew Wakefeild had an article published in a Journal called the Lancet which has led to thousands of parents rejecting vaccinations for their children based on a fear of Autism. The article claimed the MMR vaccine was linked to Autism in children. The other professionals linked to this study have retracted their support over the years as it has become blindingly clear that this research is false. However publicity given to this false research seems to far outweigh any publicity of the retraction of this article by the publisher. A disciplinarian panel found Dr Andrew Wakefield, was acting unethically while conducting his research. http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-fumento5-2010feb05,0,3589719.story Another interesting article by Alison Singer - co-founder and president of the Autism Science Foundation http://edition.cnn.com/2010/OPINION/02/03/singer.autism.study.vaccines/ I just heard this and wondered if people were aware of just how wrong this article has been found to be? What is your opinion?Bag: I was aware it was debunked a long time ago, and has generally never been seen as credible by the scientific community (I myself have a Bachelor Of Science), but was only last wek that the Lancet published an official retraction and only now that Dr Wakefeild was investigated.I generally think that people have the right to choose but in this instance it is the very young, immuno-deficient and sick who pay the price. http://www.danamccaffery.com/ And for those people who think it is silly to vaccinate against these diseases that is because in your life time they have not been prevalent becasue of vaccination. Resolved Question: Scandals and Deviancy Amplification Spirals with men in the media (Definition oriented)?

Definitions: Scandal A scandal is a widely publicized allegation or set of allegations that damages the reputation of an institution, individual or creed. A scandal may be based on true or false allegations or a mixture of both. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandal Definition: Deviancy Amplification Spiral Deviancy amplification spiral (also simply called deviance amplification) is a media hype phenomenon defined by media critics as an increasing cycle of reporting on a category of antisocial behavior or other "undesirable" events. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deviancy_amplification_spiral According to the theory, the spiral starts with some "deviant" act. Usually the deviance is criminal but it can also involve lawful acts considered morally repugnant by most of society. The mass media report what they consider to be newsworthy, but the new focus on the issue uncovers hidden or borderline examples which themselves would not have been newsworthy except inasmuch as they confirm the "pattern". Reported cases of such "deviance" are often presented as just "the ones we know about" or "the tip of the iceberg," an assertion that is nearly impossible to disprove immediately. For a variety of reasons, what is not frightening and would help the public keep a rational perspective (such as statistics showing that the behavior or event is actually less common or harmful than generally believed) tends to be ignored. As a result, minor problems begin to look serious and rare events begin to seem common. Members of the public are motivated to keep informed on these events. The resulting publicity has potential to increase deviant behavior by glamorizing it or making it seem common or acceptable. In the next stage, public concern about crime typically forces the police and the law enforcement system to focus more resources on dealing with the specific deviancy than it warrants. Judges and magistrates are under public pressure to deal out harsher sentences. Politicians pass new laws to deal with the perceived threat. All this tends to convince the public that any fear was justified while the media continue to profit by reporting police and other law enforcement activity, which further perpetuates the spiral. The theory does not contend that moral panics always include the deviancy amplification spiral. In modern times, however, media involvement is usual in any moral panic, making the spiral fairly common. ------------------------------------------------------------------- With all of the media blitz involved with covering men in scandals etc how can this not contribute to skewed viewpoints in order to justify lobbying for certain laws against men as a demographic? The saying goes, if you repeat a lie often enough one starts to believe it. more

Resolved Question: Mormon Church - Supporting Segregation and Opposing the 19th Amendment?

The Mormon Church was very active in clandestinely supporting Proposition 8 in California and has taken some negative publicity for doing so. I have read and it is pretty well substantiated that the Mormon Church did pretty much the same kind of under handed and dirty tricks in relation to the Equal Rights Amendment in the early 70s. Both of the above incidents are pretty well documented. Today I had a conversation with a friend who is a Mormon but opposes what his church did in relation to Proposition 8 and the Equal Rights Amendment and he told me that there is a fair amount of documentation that the Mormon Church used similar clandestine "behind the scenes" techniques to oppose the 19th Amendment allowing women to vote in the early 1920s and also supported efforts to enforce Segregation in the deep south during the 1960s but that most people (even in his church) are not aware of how extensive these efforts were. My friends father and two of his uncles are involved in buying and selling documents from the history of the early Mormon Church so I think that he would be someone that would be aware of all this. Also he told me that many of the documents that his father and uncles obtain are bought by splinter groups from the Mormon Church to prove the "official" history of the Mormon Church is false and that these splinter groups have the "correct" history and that Joseph Smith really intended the splinter group to be the "real " Mormon Church and that the main stream Mormon Church buys anything that contradicts their version of their history and then just puts it into a vault where nobody will ever see it again. My question is this - is it true that the Mormon Church opposed women's right to vote in the 20s and integration in the 60s and if so how and where is the documentation. Also I'm wondering what the story is with all these splinter groups that are buying up Mormon documents to undermine the the official story of Mormon History and if the Mormon Church itself is really just buying up anything that contradicts their story and then just hiding it from the world. Is the situation really that bad? more

Voting Question: Lautner proposes to Swift?!! Uh Huh. Who else is tired of the media?

Resolved Question: How are you feeling about the Rev Al who backed the?

'Race Attack' Victim: I Lied - 7 Guilty Amid Rev. Al Push By CHUCK BENNETT AP Last Updated: 9:44 AM, October 22, 2009 Posted: 3:09 AM, October 22, 2009 A troubled young woman whom the Rev. Al Sharpton championed as a victim of a horrific, racially motivated sexual assault now says she fabricated the incident -- despite the fact that all of her alleged attackers pleaded guilty and are serving jail time. Megan Williams, who is black, wasn't kidnapped and tortured in a West Virginia trailer at the hands of white attackers -- but lied because she wanted to get back at a boyfriend who'd beaten her, her lawyer, Byron Potts, said. "She told me the only thing not self-inflicted were the bruises on her face," he said at a news conference. AP photos MYSTERY PLEAS: Danny Combs, Karen Burton, Frankie Brewster and Bobby Brewster all pleaded guilty to assaulting Megan Williams (pictured, yesterday), who now says she made up the 2007 attack. "She is recanting the entire incident. She says it did not happen, and she's scared." When her allegations went public in 2007, Sharpton rallied to her side and pressed authorities to indict the accused attackers for hate crimes, even as local NAACP leaders urged restraint. "Our involvement surrounded a call for hate-crime investigations and we did not know the truths or nontruths of the investigation," Sharpton said in a statement yesterday. Two years ago, a then-20-year-old Williams told Logan County, W.Va., authorities that seven white people held her captive in a trailer where she was stabbed, beaten, sexually assaulted, scalded and taunted with racially charged epithets. Former Logan County prosecutor Brian Abraham still insists the suspects are guilty. Abraham said Williams -- who had dated one of her attackers -- now has no credibility, although he continues to believe she was held against her will and sexually assaulted. "If she's going to say that she made it all up, that's absurd," he said. "This looks like another attempt to generate more publicity." All seven of the accused attackers pleaded guilty to variety of charges, and six received lengthy prison sentences. Williams, who is developmentally challenged, said she was pressured by her adopted mother to make the false allegation and the two had collected $70,000 in donations, including $1,000 from Sharpton. Sharpton -- who now wants a new investigation -- already has a record tarnished by his drum-beating for Tawana Brawley's discredited 1987 claim that she was gang-raped by white cops. Authorities believe Brawley made up the story to avoid punishment for staying out late. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/race_attack_victim_lied_o4Fa3YxxfmGo3P3nHo9AQO more

Resolved Question: Was Ana Ivanovic Overhyped?

Let me first start off by saying I am a huge Ana Ivanovic fan. I been following her regularly for a few years now. I always believed Ana had the potential and talent to be a successful star in women's tennis for years to come. She quickly climbed the rankings, showed a lot of promise early on and then finally won her first career grand slam last June in Paris and became #1 in the world. Now to make my position clear, I always thought Ana would be a star for years to come and maybe win anywhere from between 3-5 grand slams in her career. After all, she had already been to 3 grand slam finals at the age of 20 and had won one. I never did expect Ana to dominate the game though like Serena or other well known players from the past. I just didn't think she had "it". But nonetheless, I thought she had a chance to be one of the better players in women's tennis for the next decade. However, as you all know by now, since winning Roland Garros a little over a year ago, it's been downhill for Ana ever since. She is a total mess right now and there seems to be no end in sight to her problems. Some question whether she will ever be able to get back to the top again. Some question if she will ever be a top 5 or even a top 10 player again. Now this has lead some to conclude that she is overrated. I believe that is completely false, because Ana has already proven her potential on the court. I do believe however Ana was a little bit overhyped. She was touted by many to be the next great thing in the WTA and the savior of women's tennis. The WTA was badly looking for a star after the retirement of Justine Henin, Lindsay Davenport and with the Williams Sisters ageing. Ana was the perfect candidate. She was extremely beautiful, had a wonderful down to earth personality, and oh by the way, she had talent and could actually win on the tennis court. She was a marketing dream. So when Ana finally did become #1 and won the French Open, all the focus and interest was on her. Mainstream sports blogs were finally talking about tennis because of her, there were many magazine/newspaper articles on her, paparazzi begin following her around (while on vacation in Mallorca and while dating Fernando), her FHM shoot made a lot of publicity, everybody wanted to interview Ana and learn more about her, Time magazine had an article calling Ana the next "Mega Star" in tennis. Sure, she got media attention before, but not anywhere to the extent that she got it last year after Roland Garros. Following Ana for as long as I have, one thing I have learned about her is that she is despite being so famous, she doesn't have the personality of a celebrity or diva. Sure she likes doing photoshoots and stuff, but she never came across as a girl who enjoyed being in the spot light a lot. The Williams Sisters and Maria Sharapova enjoy the limelight, they live for it. Thats why they have done so well handling all the media attention. I don't think Ana adjusted well to it and she hit a wall. Sure she got a lot of attention before winning Roland Garros, but nothing compared to what happened to her after wards. The hype and pressure broke her. Her love life was always in the news, paparazzi pics showing up all over the place, rumors, some that were flat out wrong and gossip was everywhere. It was a whole new experience for Ana. She never adjusted well to this. I even remember an interview a while back of Ana saying that the publicity ruined her relationship with Fernando Verdasco and it was just too much for her to bare. Now if you want to be a successful star, you have to handle the pressures and media attention well which Ana has not done. I personally believe that Ana just wants to get away from this all right now to reset her mind again. Was the hype for Ana warranted, in many ways yes. But the in someways it was overdone. I still believe Ana will get back to her old form again and I don't believe she was overrated. But too me she was clearly overhyped and was never going to be the Mega Star that "some" once that she was going to be. Therefore, I conclude she was overhyped. Hopefully now that all of that hype and attention has gone away, she will pick up her game and start playing better again. more

Resolved Question: was michael jackson falsely accused during his 2005 trial?

*I read this on a blog* Michael jackson may have been acquitted of sexual abuse charges back in 2005, but he definetly wasn't acquitted by the public. After reading trial transcripts and using common sense, I think its pretty obvious that MJ was falsely accused during the 2005 case. First of all, Its not farfetched to believe that someone would make up molestations claims just for money. Its all been done before so don’t act surprised. Sometimes I can’t help but wonder how things would have been if Michael had never done that documentary. If Martin Bashir had practiced responsible journalism from the beginning, then none of this drama would have started.. Firstly, he should never have interviewed Gavin arvizo without his parent's written permission. Secondly, his company never should have aired that footage, showing gavin's face without express, written permission. He was a minor at the time and should have had some form of consent. His mother was'nt even aware that he was in the video until it aired. This documentary destroyed this family’s life. Gavin was getting teased and harassed at school, the mother was being investigated for neglect and the family was being bombarded for interviews by numerous news outlets and tabloids. Janet arvizo was angry that her son was included in this documentary without her consent and had plans to team up with michael to file a multi million dollar lawsuit against martin Bashir and BBC..When Michael decided to end his ties with the family because of all the negative publicity, that’s when things started going downhill. Azja pryor, chris tucker’s ex girlfriend, had testified that janet had called her in early march complaining that Michael and his bodyguards were keeping her and the kids away from neverland. Azja’s testimony was important because the phone call was placed around the time frame gavin claimed Michael was molesting him. Janet was obviously upset that Michael wasn’t taking care of the family like he was and felt that he should be held accountable for the hell she and her family had to endure as a result of the martin bashir documentary. The media had already labeled MJ a child molester and her son was his victim, so why not go along with it and at least get some money? That is why she went to 2 civil lawyers claiming her son was molested instead of going to the police. Janet and the kids went to Larry Feldman, the same attorney who got a settlement for jordie chandler. According to journalist Larry King, Larry Feldman told him that the mother was a “wacko” and that he felt she was only in it for the money and that he didn’t believe the boy and that he refused to take the case, so instead he sent the family over to a therapist and 2 police officers. During the meeting with the cops, thats when all the lurid details emerged. Gavin told them that Michael showed him porn, masturbated him, gave him alcohol and kissed him. His brother told them that he witnessed everything and the sister said she saw Mj giving her brothers alcohol. The mother told them that Michael had kidnapped her and her children and held them against their will so they could film a rebuttal video, but the funny thing about that is, when the video aired, it didn't even include them. Gavin and his family originally told police that everything happened BEFORE the martin documentary aired, but suddenly changed their stories when they realized that Michael wasn’t even at neverland during that time period. Then all of a sudden everything happened AFTER the video aired. This isn’t the first time this family has accused someone of sexual abuse. They filed false claims against jcpenny where the mother claimed she was sexually assaulted and fondled. The kids all backed up her story and was paid a huge settlement. They also filed sexual abuse claims against the father claiming he kidnapped the family and molested the daughter. I honestly don't know how these people sleep at night more

Voting Question: Why Best Buy Should Be Sued or Honor Their Sale.?

Best Buy should honor the tv sale, if not i believe there can be a case here. The only reason you can sue for false advertising, is if they intended to do this for publicity, or sales. And just a few weeks ago i can recall When they did the exact same thing with the sale of the Palm Pre, witch they honored at $99. original price $199. witch they didn't loose much, in fact boosted their sales. Now they figured they could do it again, only with a better irresistible product, but only this time not honor the sale. 2 typos from the same company, on the same site within a period of 2 weeks, and looking at the sales records. this i believe is enough evidence to prove that this was indeed false advertising.the spokesman are calling them typos, i say they were intentional typos. Not a conspiracy, when theirs proof that their sales went up, a direct cause of these so called errors or typos. I know i work there. more

Resolved Question: AUSTRALIAN IMMIGRATION : How are student visas processed and issued?

What is the exact criteria for asian people between the age of 18 - 30 to be granted a student visa for entry into australia. What exact documentation is needed and what proof that the applicants are actually taking up a form of education in australia is required. Are all student visas issued for a minimum period. What is that period and do student visas all include permission to work while studying. How is income tax calculated and monitored for holders of student visas if and when they include permission to work and if they are self employed are students issued with an ABN (australian business number) for taxable puposes ? There is widespread yet quite covert criminality involved and false information being put forward to the australian immigration department in connection to this particular type and category of visa. The law is definitely being conveniently flouted. The main focus of my awareness to this is upon the Melbourne licenced brothel business which provides gainful employment to many holders of student visas who are involved in a solely cash payment form of remuneration. It is my knowledge that within this type of organisation pre arranged assistance for easily obtaining visas is provided in order to supply a regular compliment and variable turnover of staff. The successful visa holders are also presented with an extortionate amount of repayment debt to the provider. So as well as informing the department what other methods of awareness and publicity in australia could you suggest to ensure that the australian immigration department investigates much further into the high number of "students" being assisted with falsified visa appilications. These easily obtained visas are giving entrance into australia for young people who are entering under false pretences who are working illegally and who are being exploited. As this matter has been raised before several times and brought to the attention of the australian authorities can australians explain why no action has been taken and the illegal entrants are still succeeding in getting through. Who can assist in steering this important issue and potential security risk to australia into the hands of the appropriate authorities who may deal with this more effectively. Are there no follow up checks carried out on students to ascertain that holders of study visas are in fact truthfully engaged in education and that if they are working then is it within the legal limits set out under the visa conditions. Or do we have a situation here of one set of rules opposed to another and a blind eye being turned ? If the immigration department are choosing to ignore the matter then who else would you suggest it is reported to in order to achieve investigations and tighter monitoring of entrants who are being exploited and assisted in an organised way to enter the country falsely and work illegally ?Oh whoopee. The penny finally drops. And still you make weak excuses. DIAC investigators only need to walk through the door. No trapped scantily clad young lady is going to run up the street and not be found are they ? But the victims shouldnt be punished and they will lead the DIAC to the ring leaders easily. Once while dangerously infiltrating all this I asked a slimy regular punter (who quote " liked the young ones" his own drunken words as I purposely got him blind on shots in Crown Casino) what was his place of employment. Answer ? The Migration Review Tribunal !!!!! That is a true story. As for hating to agree with what I say you should hang your head in shame for constantly applauding on here a flawed and immoral laughing stock of an immigration system. Fascists ! A royal commission is long overdue ! Open your email link .Theres much more. What are you afraid of I'm one of the good guys ?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iGNhgMd6uM LOL ?? more

Resolved Question: Whoever said you had to be talented to make bank?

Reading about Todd Goldman made me want to waste 5 points to complain and gather opinions on these two topics (Goldman, and art in general). [Accusations of Plagiarism In April 2007, Goldman was accused of plagiarism by web cartoonist Dave "Shmorky" Kelly, in a post on the Something Awful forums, saying that Goldman's piece "Dear God Make Everyone Die" was traced directly from a 2001 Purple Pussy comic by Kelly. Mike Tyndall maintains a page which summarizes the original Something Awful thread, at which dozens of images are compared, with the claim that Goldman plagiarized many artists. In an interview with Sense magazine, Goldman said, "I guess what happened was this: I have a whole design team that works back in Florida creating t-shirts for me. And then I take some of these images and make paintings out of them. If we do 50 t-shirts a month we probably create over 300 images to narrow down to those 50. Listen, I couldn't paint in my lifetime the amount of stuff that we've done. I thought that image was created internally within 'David and Goliath'. I guess the original idea came from that Kelly guy which one of my artists had seen. We changed it to "Please God Make All my Friends Fat," because the Die wouldn't sell on t-shirts. But I thought it'd make a great painting. So I painted two images from it. 5 months later it was hanging in this gallery and someone saw it and started this whole Internet thing. When I found out it wasn't our image, I apologized to the guy and gave him the full proceeds for the sale of the paintings. They sold for $10,000. So I didn't profit from him. There was no lawsuit from it. But then a whole can of worms opens up and suddenly I'm knocking off everyone apparently." On May 3, 2007, Goldman's publicity agent announced that Goldman (who initially dismissed the controversy as "false accusations and blogging" in the contact with the media) and Kelly had reached a settlement: Goldman would pay Kelly the money he earned from the paintings and Kelly would drop the case. Goldman's art dealer said that several art galleries stopped showing Goldman's work and the wholesalers who buy Goldman's posters canceled their orders and asked for refunds for unsold stock. "I lost the three biggest poster distributors in America," his art dealer, Jack Solomon, said. Goldman later reported that the poster distributors came back.] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todd_Goldman http://www.miketyndall.com/todd_goldman/ This guy probably makes loads of more money than the [alleged] original artists. I've seen samples of this guy's art. IGNORING the (highly) suspected plagiarism, he sucks, plain and simple. I noticed a decline in the popularity of skilled art in the past few decades of cartoons on television. It's stupid, honestly. Completely, absolutely, totally ridiculous. more

Resolved Question: How true is this statement about 2012 predictions?

I saw this as an answer on a few questions. It's from Wikipedia, and I know Wikipedia isn't always the most reliable, so tell me what you think. "Academic research does not indicate that the Maya attached any apocalyptic significance to the year 2012: the date for the end of their world lay unimaginable aeons of time in the future. John Major Jenkins's 'Galactic alignment' theory is based not only on a misleading astronomical claim, but in part on the same false calendrical premise. As the Timewave Zero theory has never been published in a peer-reviewed journal and its sources and reasoning are primarily what would be considered numerological rather than mathematical, the theory has failed to gain any scientific credibility or much recognition by professional mathematicians and scientists. Professional astronomers ridicule the Nibiru collision theory, which is based on claimed 'channeling' by extraterrestrials.[47][48] More academic research is needed into the claimed Hopi prophecy: it does not appear to mention the year 2012.[49] The Bible's Book of Revelation, composed some 1900 years ago, did indeed offer a dramatic picture of the end of the world—but it also promised that it would happen 'very soon'.[50] The Bible says nothing about 2012 or any similar date. The prophecy of the Tiburtine Sybil, as reproduced in the 16th century, did indeed likewise present a dramatic picture of the apocalypse, but did not date it, least of all to 2012.[51] While the quatrains of Nostradamus are clearly intended to be read in a pre-apocalyptic context, they do not specifically mention (or, consequently, date) the end of the world: their Preface states that they are valid until the year 3797.[52] The so-called Lost Book of Nostradamus is a version of the anonymous Vaticinia de summis pontificibus — a book of prophetic papal emblems dating from centuries before his time – and does not mention the year 2012. The Prophecies of Merlin were a fictional composition by the medieval Geoffrey of Monmouth,[53] amplified in 13th-century Venice, and did not mention the year 2012.[54] The original 1641 edition of The Prophecies of Mother Shipton says nothing at all about doomsday or the end of the world or, consequently, any proposed date for either.[55] The alarmist claims of imminent doom made by Sony Pictures in their fictional publicity for the forthcoming film 2012 are not supported by reputable independent academic research." more

Resolved Question: Who else thinks Katie Price (aka Jordan) is false and everything that she says is so publicity related?

Take the current interview on ITV at the moment. The interview wasn't going her way (Piers was indicating that he was siding with Pete), so she throws one up (about the miscarriage) to get the sympathy vote. It's possible she did have a miscarriage, but I don't think she would have brought it up if the interview was going her way (publicity in her favour). I don't sympathise with Pete either, because its pretty obvious he wants your typical Greek wife - stay at home, looks after children, Pete the breadwinner etc etc. He's simply not suited to a career woman more

Resolved Question: The "Oh-I'm-so-sonofgun" virus? Anyone can help?

I have had been in a most difficult predicament these days. Lately, anytime I connect to internet with two of my computers, a laptop and a PC, they just start to reset over and over again. I think it's a virus, because when my little cousin girl played with the two computers, she probably clicked away in on of those false publicity things in the corners. Also, the antivirus doesn't work, it deletes some virus, but the computers still reset themselves. Does anyone know what I gotta do? more

Resolved Question: Does the NBA really care?

I don't know how others feel about those commercials, so I posted this question. In my own opinion, I feel like its all for publicity; otherwise, they would not need to put those commercials on television. What purpose do those commercials serve other than tricking naive Americans into accepting a false image of NBA players. Don't get me wrong, many NBA players donate a significant amount of time and money, but the vast majority are selfish people who reluctantly give up one day of their 365-day year. Seriously, exactly what percent of their net worths do NBA players actually give to society (.01%)? If those commercials are meant to promote community service, than why the hell don't they say something like: "Go on nba.com, and find out places where you can help in your own community." Instead they give you more crap: "Visit nba.com to see more of Ben Wallace reading to kindergartners"To those who asked: I do 1-3 hours of community service a week. I know that is not a huge amount, but I don't publicize it (I can't anyway). Il be honest, I am not the best person you will ever meet, but I try to be a better person. It is just offending to me, to see these nba players pretending to care by donating a couple hours of community service in there whole life for many hours of airplay on national television(sorry, court-ordered C-service doesn't count).I acknowledged that some do care: "Don't get me wrong, many NBA players donate a significant amount of time and money" more

Resolved Question: TRUE or FALSE: WWE/WWF had their own "Ambiguously Gay Duo" as one of their top tag teams wed on live TV?

In the days of the WWF it seemed like Billy & Chuck WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS were on a big time losing streak, feuding with Hurricane & Shannon Moore.. But just when things seemed really bad for the team, Chuck got down on one knee and popped the question to his partner Billy on Smackdown. Billy answered yes and the engagement was on! Near the end of the Invasion storyline, Chuck Palumbo was kicked out of the WCW/ECW coalition. In response, he defected to the WWF, where he began teaming with Gunn in an affront to the alliance. After the Invasion ended, the duo were turned heel. A storyline began in which Palumbo and Gunn became increasingly affectionate toward each other, showing evidence of a homosexual relationship. The duo adopted matching red ring gear and bleached their hair with Chuck beginning to wear pigtails. Developmental talent Rico was placed in the role of their crafty "personal stylist". Billy and Chuck would win the World Tag Team Championships Chuck proposed marriage to Billy, and Billy accepted. Their ceremony was aired on SmackDown. During the wedding, Gunn and Palumbo revealed that their homosexuality was merely a publicity stunt that had gone too far, and they admitted they were only friends Needless to say, the Gay Coalition were not amused... and another particularly "embarrassing moment" for wrestling gimmicks was quickly swept under the cover ** True or False ** more

Resolved Question: is this a good letter from Sheriff Arpaio's letter to Al Sharpton?

Sheriff Arpaio's letter to Al Sharpton Maricopa County Sheriff's Office ^ | April 13, 2009 | Sheriff Joe Arpaio Reverend Al Sharpton 106 West 145th Street Harlem, New York City , New York 10039 Fax: 212 690 3070 Dear Reverend Sharpton: I have read about you with much interest since learning of the protest you plan to lead against me in Maricopa County in June as a way to force my resignation or removal from office. Your public proclamation leads me to the conclusion: not only do you not understand Arizona ; you also do not understand democracy. As the elected Sheriff who, so far has been elected to five consecutive four-year terms, I answer to the four million residents of Maricopa County . I do not answer to the whims of the media, or locally and nationally elected officials who want open borders and who have their own agendas. Nor do I answer to a publicity hound outside interloper who has demonstrated no interest in looking for the truth before making loud uninformed noises. While your public outcries are colorful, there are several instances where you have inserted yourself into other people's affairs without knowing any of the facts. Poor judgment has caused you plenty of trouble in the past and promises to do so again. Most earnest people want to learn by their mistakes. You seem to glory in repeating them. I would like to help you avoid further embarrassment by assisting in your understanding of the illegal immigration problem here in my county. When and if you do make the trip here, I invite you to call me to talk about these false allegations. We can discuss how my deputies are extensively trained by the federal government to properly combat illegal immigration and how the laws of this state allow this Sheriff's Office to question and investigate the immigration status of those people deputies detain in the course of our everyday law enforcement duties. Don't make the same mistake made by the four Democratic Congressmen calling for a U.S. Department of Justice investigation of this office. They and other politicians relied solely on media reports and anti-law enforcement handouts that are replete with inaccuracies. They have brainwashed a handful of local residents to believe these lies. Rest assured that the men and women of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office do not racially profile anyone. However, we do enforce the state and federal illegal immigration laws. And we will continue to do so as long as these laws are on the books. You can parachute into town, stomp your feet up and down and hold more press conferences against me -- that is a hallmark of democracy too -- but you will not stop me, nor slow me down for one second, from doing what is right. Before you bring your circus to town and take to our streets by marching against this Sheriff, let's get you fully informed for a change. Congressman John Conyers did not have the courtesy to respond to my invitation to visit with me personally. I hope you will consider my invitation. Resolved Question: USA FALSE ADVERTISING? - RIPPED OFF?

I booked a vacation activity of a `Sealife Safari Tour' for 4 through http://www.vacationsmadeeasy.com/OrlandoFL/activity/SealifeSafariTour.cfm. When you read the information it sounds great and likely worth the expense for a memorable holiday event. When you go to book it brings up info only for the tour at Clearwater. The event calendar is also very restrictive for 8.45am only throughout every future period. Clearly they then can't offer the buffet lunch beforehand but we still decided to go for it based on the interest factor. When we arrived, we found that the exact same tour is available directly off the pier at $19.95 per head at every sail time during the day/evening. There is no marine biologist aboard and there are no times when they offer food. It was the exact same trip/company as purchased through this agent. They charge $92.45 per head. This gives around an 80% mark up for their booking fee for a trip which appears to be falsely advertised. I have tried to get my money back but their terms do not allow that. I have left a review on their website but no reviews at all are showing. That would suggest they block them to avoid adverse publicity. I am in the UK and wish to report them for investigation for the relevant agency. I would also like my money back for false advertising but stopping them from ripping other people off would also be a reward. It could be I've made some kind of mistake with the tour info, but it appears to me to be deliberately misleading. If anyone has new light to shed, I would be interested to hear and/or can anyone please advise who I would make compaint to? We all work long and hard for our small amount of leisure time and if this is a scam these people need to be stopped from conning other people. Thank you more

I want to know if is for publicity or you can see something, and how much. This is a question for someone who had saw the movie, or some sneak with a cell phone that I can´t find yet, so, if someone get it, give us the link, jaja! But really I want to know if is a really fully frontal nude or just show something and make all that publicity more

Resolved Question: Michael Jackson, The USA's opinion?

So Michael Jackson is performing in London for 10 nights, probably more to be announced, and a lot of the UK are thrilled. But what the Americans opinions on it. Do you feel cheated that he chose the UK over the USA? It's just that I was watching a video on youtube, by 'The Skorpion Show' and a guy called Makel said he felt cheated because he thinks he should perform in his home country or around the world ... not just London. I can personally understand why he's performing here, because of all the false allegations etc and bad publicity in the US but what are your opinions? This question is especially for the Americans! more

Resolved Question: competitive market economy question?

A hypothetical economy manufactures two types of meat: beef and pork. Publicity about mad cow disease causes a change in consumers' tastes away from beef and towards pork. Consumers and meat producers are both price-takers. True or False: The economy described above is a competitive market economy. A - True B - False C - Cannot conclude more

Resolved Question: Which one of them is easier to sell, Hate or Harmony?

When one writes against one religion, it is as if selling your thoughts to majority, there are million’s of people out there, to praise and approve. That is cheap publicity, which is easily marketable. If one is of an opinion that it requires talent, it is false. Each one of us is well aware, that in a religion we are born and brought up is full of myths, parables and fantasies. Yes, great potential is required by a person to hold himself quiet and propagate modesty. In the name of religion, because he is clinging to it, not ready to listen to reason, not willing to put his own religion to test, does the religion he follow, or believe in, has really benefited Mankind, or it is just an eye wash, instead it has harmed Humanity. The very religious kind are the classic example of hypocrisy, they are capable of seeing innocent people butchered, women’s raped, houses being burnt, in name of riot or war, just because they despise the fellow human, as he belongs to another faith. It is very easy to speak against one particular religion, but it is very difficult to speak against all of them, it may question your sanity. Actually, it hurts, to get up and see or hear that so many of us have lost their life, due to bomb blast. We are preparing for War; we are not done with the smaller menace Terrorism, now we will be having War Lords to deal. We are not living in an era of ignorance; the Sun does not rise, or set anymore. We use all our intelligence and reasoning to prove our religion right. Why cannot we use little of our intelligence to put religion away? I don’t want to sell hate. more

Resolved Question: treated like a whore by your own family!!!?

I was 14 when I went to visit my uncle's family. I had good grades at school and that's why my mom let me go to another state to visit them as a reward. I was so happy. There was this neighbor guy my age (14 too) . He was very cute and I was just a kid. He asked me to kiss him and I did, we were at his house, we didn't do anything else. But my uncle's wife told my uncle that I was in the neighbor's house having sex with the neighbor's kid. My uncle came to the neighbor's house very angry he treated me names, and he told everybody in the family that I was a whore and that I had sex many times with that kid even though I told him that it was false accusations. It was absolutely not true, I was just 14 and had never had sex in my life. He sent me back home, I was cruelly hurt and mortified. He and his evil wife made such horrible publicity that everybody in my family believed them. I was a nice kid, I had good grades at school and I would never have done such a thing. I was traumatized.I was still traumatized years after. Now I'm 24, and I have a good job and now my uncle is starting to call me, to send me pictures of his family,.... Should I forgive him? I have never forgotten what they did to me. This story had many bad consequences to my life even after. I was just a kid who was happy to pay a visit to family members that she loved... more

Resolved Question: Why dont Americans want to know the truth?

As Saddam Hussein was accused of 911, and it was proven to be false, so the FBI have admitted they have no evidence that Osama Bin Laden had anything to do with it either, the Videos have been proven to be fake, so, why isnt the American public interested in finding out who did them? When the FBI were asked WHY on their MOST WANTED list Bin Laden was not listed in connection with the 911 attacks, or why he had not been indicted for the crimes, the response was “The reason why 9/11 is not mentioned on Usama Bin Laden’s Most Wanted page is because the FBI has no hard evidence connecting Bin Laden to 9/11.” Rex Tomb, Chief of Investigative Publicity for the FBI It seems incredible and disgraceful that the American Public do not seem interested in finding the real perpetrators of this crimehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFpxjdsE1AEThe Bush Administration implied Saddam was behind the attacks, thats why we are in that quagmire now, Why not youtube? oh i guess only APPROVED news sources these days? The Video is sound check out the PNAC document "Rebuilding Americas Defences", I guess people are to scared to know the real truth, yes Bin Laden was wanted but NOT for the 911 attacks, the videos have been proven to be fakesNo they are not my friends, I protested against the uk and the USA when they supported Iraq against Iran in the 80's, he was a psycho then, not just when he started trading his oil in euros, as for Bin Laden he was Tim Osman CIA asset. What I cant understand is that a huge Israeli spyring was exposed in the USA and no-one seemed to care about that, the same with the Anthrax attacks, I dont understand why you people dont demand answers. Condi Rice said back in 2001 that she would present evidence about all this, can anyone tell me where this info is posted. I have never seen any of it. Just supposition followed by another crisis to keep people from questioning. Same in the UK Now we have 'Free Speech zones' where we have to hide away to speak out in public without fear of arrest more
