This is a very long post, but The main point of this is, please tell me about your bad experience with the justice system. I will soon start a website, devoted to the men and women who are sold out for a power trip, left out to dry, and just plain screwed. Please Let your story be heard. It has always been bad but this is the final straw here, as i am looking into putting up a table stand near the bike traiI, where i would play guitar, sell drinks and homemade jerkey, good times, with most(75%, I still gotta eat) of the profit going to a good honest charity(any ideas?). I may be almost tax exempt but i read multiple counts of children shut down or extorted of their lemonade money, fruit stand money, what have you, by the black hole we call the government. since when does a lemonade stand require a building permit, business license, health inspection, and financial records? One boy and his parents in the netherlands was put out over $1500.00 for his. is this really the point where we are at as a society? Six year olds break the law when they make a cheap, delicous drink, sitting on a milk crate, out in the heat, sweating bullets, all just to make a few dollars? lets not forget the fact that they are offering a product, that we as free Americans, decide to purchase. Who needs to dip their hands in the pockets of a SIX YEAR OLD girl? What next, fill out a w- for Grandma's Christmas card? That Malibu barbi is now 36% more expensive. Add to that the 7% sales tax. Sorry, honey, maybe after Easter. now what these kids are doing seems to be the basis for free market systems that this country was founded upon. how would our forefathers react to this, tax money wasted on a six year old guilty of quenching thirst? IRS agents, health inspectors, and the police have all been called in to put pressure on fukcing LEMONADE STANDS. Two goons from the IRS probably make more in a day than this girl makes(or spends for that matter) on lemonade in ten years. It happens all the time; on all levels, our rights as human beings, and wild animals(albeit neudered) are stepped on. At the same time, football players and movie stars kill people, and get a slap on the wrist.I dream of an America where people actually care about each other, to the point where they would rally in the streets, fight and sacrifice, even GIVE their LIFE for a complete stranger(non-famous) at the slightest scent of injustice. It is something we would all benefit from. There are thousands of cases, every year; judges paid, jurors paid, jurors threatened, false/ planted evidence, no evidence, framing at the highest level, the list goes on and on.The waste, the greed, the corruption, and pure garbage must be rid of this country. WE as the public need to put a fear into our "leaders", law enforcement, justice system. Like the kind of fear that keeps you up at night, cause you think you might not wake again. Let them know they are not untouchable, as they believe, and want you to believe. The newspapers should have an entire section dedicated to keeping the courts transparent, with details of all cases, written by a member of the real public, not some journalist getting bjs under the table by the same liars they are writing about. Put the judge's address in there too. Free things don't always stay that way. remember when water was free? WE need to do something quick before our country becomes a police state. Thank you very much. feel free to email me if you wanna talk about something interesting..... moreOpen Question: What do you liberals think about this?
READ ALL, THIS IS A VERY LARGE QUESTION. You say Reagnomics failed. Well Reaganomics is comonly reffered to as supply-slide economics. In 1948, Ludwig Erhard put supply-slide economics, or aka Reaganomics, to the test in Western Germany. He introduced an economic shock therapy completely in line with Reaganomics. He abolished rationing and price-controls, although he restricted his own power with this measure. Erhard believed in the self regulation of the market and not the liberal belief in government regulation. Later on Erhard, as secretary for the economy, cut the high marginal tax rate in two steps: first from 95% to 63% and afterwards to 53%. The first 8000 DM earned became tax free. Erhard’s leadership allowed Germany to rebuild at an economic pace never seen before. Ludwig Erhard is a perfect example of conservatism in another nation. There’s a reason why he’s called the “Father of the Wirtschaftswunder”… After Reagan, the theory of supply-side economics was applied in numerous countries. In Iceland, David Oddson became prime minister in 1991. He inherited a poorly performing economy burdened by heavy income taxes. He lowered the corporate tax rate from 50% to 30%. During the next five years the economy grew by 5% per year. Government income did not fall and social outlays could be maintained. He too is another great example of this success. Ireland is another example. In 1987 this country was the “sick man” of Europe, with a public debt of 135 % of GDP. After the elections of 1987 a new economic policy was introduced. Corporate tax rate was reduced from 32% to 12.5% and capital gains tax was lowered from 40% to 20%. Ireland is now the fastest growing country of the European Union. Japan, on the other hand, is a classic example of the failure of a Liberal demand-side policy. The economy has been in shambles for many years and public debt has risen to a gigantic 170% of GDP. All because in the early 1990’s they bailed out many banks which were collapsing. What happened in Japan is happening now… And now i go back to Reagan. How do you explain 18 million new jobs, trippled GDP, doubled revenues to the government, reduced poverty, and a booming economy? I knwo you will point out the debt from massive military spending, but you liberals enjoy spending large amounts of money too. Not to mention, you liberals enjoy raising taxes which never leads to economic growth! Tell me once when rasing taxes worked. Clinton? He stopped spending, rose taxes to pay for defcits while lowering capital gains and eliminating usless government progerams--that is not liberal economics.... I don't know of any credible economist that says Reaganomics or supply-slide economics failed... Secondly you idiots point to Bush acting like Reagan, when that is false... So please, wtf? Sources: http://lvb.net/item/960Please give a logical answer instead of trying to hange the subject--wait, you can't give a logical explination. moreOpen Question: Car Insurance are we been conned?

Going Green/Alternative Energy has failed in SPAIN and yet the Democrats in the Congress, Senate and even the Democrat President are copying this failed plan. Spain has over an 18% Un Employment Rate and the Green Jobs didn't create JOBS they added to the UN EMPLOYMENT RATE. WHY? Why can't the Democrats in our Government use our Natural Resourse and stop going with a FAILED PLAN? Below is the LINK: _____________________________________________________ http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/editorials/stories/2009/06/24/will24.ART_ART_06-24-09_A11_MLE94UP.html?sid=101 Let's not envy Spain's green jobs Wednesday, June 24, 2009 3:00 AM By George F. Will Why, Gabriel Calzada wonders, is the U.S. president recommending that America emulate the Spanish model for creating "green jobs" in "alternative energy" even though Spain's unemployment rate is 18.1 percent -- more than double the European Union average -- partly because of spending on such jobs? Calzada, 36, an economics professor at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, has produced a report that, if true, is inconvenient for the Obama administration's green agenda. Calzada says Spain's torrential spending -- no other nation has so aggressively supported production of electricity from renewable sources -- on wind farms and other forms of alternative energy has indeed created jobs. But Calzada's report concludes that they often are temporary and have received $752,000 to $800,000 each in subsidies -- wind industry jobs cost even more, $1.4 million each. And each new job entails the loss of 2.2 other jobs that are either lost or not created in other industries because of the political allocation of capital. Calzada says the creation of jobs in alternative energy has subtracted about 110,000 jobs from elsewhere in Spain's economy. The president's press secretary, Robert Gibbs, was asked about the report's contention that the political diversion of capital into green jobs has cost Spain jobs. The White House transcript contained this exchange: Gibbs: "It seems weird that we're importing wind turbine parts from Spain in order to build -- to meet renewable energy demand here if that were even remotely the case." Questioner: "Is that a suggestion that his study is simply flat wrong?" Gibbs: "I haven't read the study, but I think, yes." Questioner: "Well, then. (Laughter.)" Actually, what is weird is this idea: A sobering report about Spain's experience must be false because otherwise the behavior of some American importers, seeking to cash in on the U.S. government's promotion of wind power, might be participating in an economically unproductive project. It is true Calzada has come to conclusions that he, as a libertarian, finds congenial. And his study was supported by a like-minded think tank (the Institute for Energy Research, for which this columnist has given a paid speech). Still, it is notable that, rather than refute his report, many Spanish critics have impugned his patriotism for faulting something for which Spain was praised by Obama and others. You can find similar conclusions in "Yellow Light on Green Jobs," a report by Republican Sen. Kit Bond, ranking member of the Subcommittee on Green Jobs and the New Economy. What matters most is not that reports such as Calzada's and the Republicans' are right in every particular. It is, however, hardly counterintuitive that politically driven investments are economically counterproductive. Indeed, environmentalists with the courage of their convictions should argue that the point of such investments is to subordinate market rationality to the higher agenda of planetary salvation. Still, one can be agnostic about both reports while being dismayed by the frequency with which such findings are ignored simply because they question policies that are so invested with righteousness that methodical economic reasoning about their costs and benefits seems unimportant. For fervent believers in governments' abilities to control the climate and in the urgent need for them to do so, believing is seeing: They see, through their ideological lenses, governments' green spending as always paying for itself. This is a free-lunch faith comparable to that of those conservatives who believe tax cuts always pay for themselves by stimulating compensating revenues from economic growth. Windmills are iconic in the land of Don Quixote, whose tilting at them became emblematic of comic futility. Spain's new windmills are neither amusing nor emblematic of policies America should emulate. moreVoting Question: economics questions on the federal reserve!!?? Please help!:)?

Do you believe America is suppose offer a life time of free medical care to Illegal immigrant's already 1.5 million has been given why does this family feel we have an obligation to furnish a life time of free care ? Do you think the real motive here is family wanting money ?STUART — A jury being seated this week will be asked to determine whether Martin Memorial Medical Center should be held liable for a claim of false imprisonment for the way they repatriated a brain-damaged and penniless illegal immigrant back to his native Guatemala in 2003. How the hospital conducted itself during the extradition will be key to the deliberations of jurors in the expected three-week trial, pitting attorneys for Luis Jimenez, 38, and his Indiantown guardian, Montejo Gaspar Montejo, against Martin Memorial. On July 10, 2003, the hospital hired a jet to fly Jimenez out of the country after receiving a court order permitting his return to Guatemala, which an appeals court later determined exceeded the court’s jurisdiction. Since then, Jimenez’s lawyers, including Jack Scarola of West Palm Beach, have accused hospital executives of plotting a “clandestine deportation” in order to take advantage of a narrow window of time between a favorable court ruling and an expected appeal. “I went to law school to try this kind of case,” Scarola said during a recent interview. In court papers, he’s argued the hospital should be liable for money damages — including punitive damages — in part because Martin Memorial officials knew the move amounted to a federal deportation and was beyond the scope of state court, to which they’d turned for help in discharging Jimenez. The former gardener lived at Martin Memorial for two years, racking up $1.5 million in unpaid medical bills following a devastating car crash in 2000 caused by a drunken driver in a stolen van. The collision killed two people and left the now childlike Jimenez comatose with broken bones, a traumatic brain injury and the inability to use his legs. An invalid now cared for by his 73-year-old mother in his boyhood home atop a remote Guatemalan mountain, Jimenez is not expected to attend the trial with Montejo, his cousin by marriage. Hospital attorneys have staunchly defended using a private air ambulance to transfer Jimenez to a rehabilitation center in Guatemala City. In court papers, they note that not only could Martin Memorial — an acute care facility — not provide the extensive and ongoing therapy he required, but no American medical facility would accept him due to his illegal immigrant status. In a prepared statement, Ronda Wilburn, director of marketing communication for Martin Memorial Health Systems, said the burden of paying the health care bill for many undocumented immigrants “is falling on hospitals and health systems that simply cannot afford to pay it.” “We feel it is crucial for government leaders at the state and local levels to step in and work to solve this issue,” Wilburn noted. Martin Memorial attorney Scott Michaud, of Boca Raton, said it’s an important case for the hospital. “We are not trying to prove a point or set some kind of precedent,” Michaud said. “We are simply trying to establish that what we did, we did in good faith, and we think was reasonable and the plaintiffs have a different view.” In a legal pitch to award punitive damages against the hospital, attorney Scarola has argued that as a recipient of federal funds, Martin Memorial “was legally obligated to provide Mr. Jimenez with appropriate medical care, notwithstanding the fact that (he) was unable to pay for such services.” Scarola has argued that despite proof officials offered in court detailing the care Jimenez would receive in Guatemala, testimony showed the country’s health system was ill-equipped to deal with his medical needs and would result in his discharge “out on the streets within days of arriving in Guatemala.” Jimenez’s advocates say after a brief stay, he was discharged because he had no money. Michaud though, countered that Martin Memorial was assured by Guatemalan officials Jimenez would get the necessary medical help. When Martin Memorial discharged Jimenez, Michaud argued in court papers, it did so “with the honest belief based on the evidence it uncovered, the hospital in Guatemala was properly equipped to care for him.”http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2009/jun/20/illegal-immigrants-lawsuit-against-martin-memorial/ Could it be Guatemala does not want to offer free medical care for life ? moreVoting Question: Should the New York Times be considered a credible source considering its abysmal record?
http://fee.org/articles/not-so-fast/totalitarian-times/ In 1932 the western world was in crisis, as the capitalist economies were shrinking rapidly while the Great Depression spread misery and hopelessness. According to the intellectuals, however, there was one shining beacon, one place that provided hope: the Soviet Union under the “enlightened” leadership of Josef Stalin. Stalin, the intellectuals claimed, had created a country and an economy that was impervious to the internal collapses that were endemic to capitalism, an economy that provided jobs and food for everyone. However, there were nasty rumors from the Land of Plenty that there was famine in Ukraine. One influential newspaper, however, openly and authoritatively denied there was any famine at all. This was the “Newspaper of Record,” the most important newspaper in the United States and perhaps the world. The newspaper was the New York Times, and it said there was no famine and that any reports to the contrary were lies from Trotskyites and disgruntled capitalists. Later that decade, Stalin proceeded with his now-infamous “show trials” in which he claimed that a number of the original Bolsheviks that put him into power actually had plotted with Leon Trotsky to overthrow the “Man of Steel” and re-impose capitalism. While some people expressed doubts, the New York Times, led by its man in Moscow, Walter Duranty, insisted that Stalin had uncovered massive plots against him. We now know that the “Newspaper of Record” engaged in suppression of the truth, and the man most responsible, Duranty, still has his picture hanging in the lobby of the Times building as one of the paper’s many winners of the prestigious Pulitzer Prize. That his stories were lies apparently does not bother either the Times management or the committee that hands out the prizes. When the Hitler regime was slaughtering Jews in Europe, the Times also suppressed or played down those reports. The reason, according to the publisher, was that the paper did not want to be seen overly emphasizing “Jewish causes.” I make these points because the Times recently championed the legislation placing tobacco products under the regulation of the Food and Drug Administration, and the editorial praising the government had a number of howlers, but none bigger than this statement: It has now been proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that cigarette makers have spent decades making false statements, suppressing evidence of harm, and manipulating the design of cigarettes to increase their addictiveness. I cannot recall any time in the near-56 years of my life in which I have not been told in the media and elsewhere that tobacco can cause cancer. Yes, tobacco executives wanted Americans to have a different picture of smoking than the cancer ward, but in a country with a free press, the word was spread far and wide. The idea that the tobacco industry could keep health information out of the news is laughable, given the unrelenting hostility to the industry, which has been forbidden by law to advertise on television for the past 40 years. There is a huge difference between executives making claims and “suppressing the news.” But there’s more. The editorial also said: The bill is not perfect. It will not allow the F.D.A. to ban cigarettes or nicotine — a concession made years ago to avoid drawing intense opposition from smokers and free-market advocates. Yes, we have the newspaper that was against prohibition of alcohol now endorsing prohibition against tobacco, and blaming “free-market advocates” for that omission of even more government control of our lives. So, the newspaper that actively suppressed news of millions of people in Europe being slaughtered by totalitarian governments now blames individuals who believe the authorities should not be interfering with peaceful private exchange for keeping a “perfect bill” off the books. And that “perfect” bill would impose yet another round of prohibition and all the destructiveness we know it would bring. The Newspaper of Duranty, Jayson Blair, and the most skewed and dishonest coverage in the country of the infamous Duke lacrosse case now declares prohibition to be “perfect.” Even for the totalitarian Times, this is a new low. moreResolved Question: False Advertising Poll: How did you react the first time you clicked on the 'See More From Your Contacts' link?

http://www.publiceye.org/conspire/flaherty/flaherty6.html An often repeated Federal Reserve conspiracy theory is that the Fed has never been audited. “Every year Congress introduces legislation to audit the FED,” wrote Thomas Schauf, “and every year it is defeated.”7 Why? Conspiracy theorists such as Schauf, Gary Kah (1991), and Pat Robertson (1994) say the reason is that the Fed is involved in an international plot to subvert U.S. sovereignty and create a one-world government. Naturally, the Fed will not permit Congress to audit its activities, lest it discover this treasonous plan and shut it down. How much truth is there to this claim? Has the Fed ever been audited by Congress or anyone else? The Fed controls U.S. monetary policy and can act with a great deal of independence from Congress and the executive branch. Clearly, such awesome power requires some sort of regular public oversight at the very least to insure that the Fed is doing its job efficiently and effectively, and to detect any abuses of power or fraud. This essay explores the claim that the Fed has never been audited and finds that it is completely false. A Brief History of Federal Reserve Audits Since its inception in 1913 the Federal Reserve System has been subjected to a variety of financial and performance audits by Congress, the executive branch, and private accounting firms, although responsibility for this task has shifted from time to time. From 1913 to 1921 the Board of Governors, then known as the Federal Reserve Board which sets monetary policy and regulates the activities of the Federal Reserve Banks, was audited annually by the U.S. Treasury Department. In 1921 Congress created the Government Accounting Office (GAO) and assigned it to audit the Board until 1933. In the Banking Act of 1933, Congress voted specifically to remove the Board from the GAO’s jurisdiction. From 1933 to 1952 audit teams from the twelve Federal Reserve Banks performed the annual examination of the BOG’s books. From 1952 to 1978, the Board, under authorization from Congress, decided to employ nationally recognize accounting firms to conduct the audits of itself to insure independent oversight. This provided an external evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of the examination procedures.1 In 1978 Congress passed the Federal Banking Agency Audit Act (31 USCA §714). It placed the Federal Reserve System back under the auditing authority of the GAO. The Act significantly increased the access of the GAO to the Federal Reserve Banks, the Board, and the Federal Open Market Committee (the FOMC). Since then, the GAO has conducted over 100 financial audits and performance audits of the three Federal Reserve bodies.3 Scope of GAO Audits Some of the more important GAO performance audits of the Fed have been in the areas of bank supervision, payment systems activities, and government securities activities. In the first area, the GAO examined how well the Fed was enforcing its regulatory powers over its member banks. In 1992 it drew attention to the Fed’s sluggish compliance with regulatory reforms mandated by the Foreign Bank Supervision Act of 1991. In examining the Fed’s payment system activities, the GAO made the Fed aware of how its pricing policies for such services as check-clearing affected private suppliers of check-clearing services, and also suggested ways to speed up the process of check collections. Security markets for government debt is a crucial market, and GAO performance audits of the Fed have lead to more openness in the primary dealer system, particularly concerning the disclosure of price information. The GAO is also involved in several ongoing performance audits of the Fed such as analysis of risks and benefits of interstate banking, regulation of derivatives, and the budget of the Federal Reserve system.2 Audits By Private Accounting Firms Financial audits of the Fed are also conducted regularly. Each Reserve Bank is audited every year by independent General Auditors who report directly to the Board of Governors. These examinations involve financial statement audits and reviews on the effectiveness of financial controls. Each Reserve Bank also has its own internal audit mechanisms. The Board contracts each year with an outside accounting firm to evaluate the audit program’s effectiveness. Price Waterhouse conducted an audit of the Board’s 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, and 1998 financial statements and filed this report in the Board’s 1996 Annual Report (nearly identical ones appear in other Annual Reports): We have audited the accompanying balance sheets of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (the Board) as of December 31, 1995 and 1994, and the related statements of revenues and expenses for the years then ended. These financial statements are the responsibility of the Board’s management. Our responsibility is to express an opinion on these financial statements based on our audits. Please only respond if you know what goes on with these. So many people are clueless thinking you need a shadow of a doubt or that it's a criminal matter. Some think it's like a mutual order where both of you can't have contact. Wrong. The Plaintiff if given the order has every legal right to call you or visit you. Granted the defendent can complain and take that matter to court but as long as HE doesn't have an order, he is able to do as he pleases to you. Furthermore the Plaintiff is entitled to have a gun. The defendent can't even though it is a civil matter. The defendent can't even go to a shooting range or be at a friend's home who may be a gunowner. So only answer this question if you have experience. I was falsely given a false order in Georgia. The man had no evidence only a verbal statement. I was in shock and kept quiet in the courtroom. My keeping quiet and silent tears (I cried not dramatic but I just didn't understand why this was happening) made the judge put the order because I didn't refute anything. He said he changed his number because of me. We only saw each other twice in 4 years and he still had the same number he had 4 years earlier (that was listed in court file). These hearings don't require lawyers and almost no one has one. Furthermore they are free to file in Georgia so the Plaintiff does'n't lose money. Anyway I had to immediately change my number because this guy found out where I lived. I had moved but never told him but I was served for this order so he did research. For this past year I had to watch my back. I avoided public places like the plague but I still have to eat and get gas. I'd go to small markets because I was nervous in a supermarket. If I did go to the supermarket, I went at midnight when their were less people. I went to Ethiopian or Vietnamese restaurants or places I knew he would consider "beneath" him. I didn't go dancing with my friends because we could run into him at the local "hot' spots. I didn't go to concerts or venues because we have similiar cultural tastes. Now that the order is over, I went to the Mall and Target. i always hated those places but now it was so special but still I'm paranoid and so used to looking out if he's around. Has anyone gone through this? I cry because people think these orders are fair and constitutional but when you realize how it is easy to be abused, you see that it's not a form of empowerment if a person is really a victim. I see it as a form of abuse. If you are falsely accused, then you are being abused but if you really are an abuse victim seeking an order, then see this as a way for the abuse victim to become an abuser. Why can't people just go to criminal court and show evidence of abuse? Why is it just to put an order on someone because you think they could potentially harm you? Every person on this planet can potentially harm me. Should I just have restraining orders on every single human being in my county? I don't get it. I just don'tI'm female. As much as I hate to say this, I'm kind of happy men are abusing the system. I think it's a wake-up call to women that this form of "vengeance" can also be used against them and it can be scary. moreVoting Question: Is my golden pregnant or not?

And all sales before 2 years, according to the rule that the company set but never disclosed to me, disqualify the ESPP purchase. This means that I should have bought it for higher price. But I didn't get any income from this company this year at all. Why would the company say I got income when I didn't and only had 'disqualifying disposition'. "he who oppresses a poor man insults his maker. He who is kind to the needy honors him." ...is the full quote. Now, i take the word 'poor' to mean someone who is without -in any form, not just financially (based on the wording in the second part of the line). With that in mind, this is another case of 'Judaic-Prophetic Justice' in Christianity. It's a concept that runs deep through the entire bible and is something of a theme. Its point being that justice is more a matter of embrace, of love, self sacrifice, and restraint from judgement over the concepts of judgement, punishment, ardent adherence to law, restoration, and revenge. Where i'm at a loss here -why i asked for Republicans* specifically- is that i have a hard time reconciling this to much of the republican platform. Particularly the parts that are voiced most prominently anymore. Specifically some of the things i can't understand (in this framework) are: 1. opposition to national health care: greater access, guaranteed coverage, more options, things that mostly affect the poor. 2. advocacy for harsher punishment for criminals 3. support of corporate rights over individual, employee, or consumer rights 4. 'moral' legislation 5. war, war, war: more then 50% of the budget was dedicated to defense (directly!) and it was still not considered enough 6. opposition to higher standards for employees (safety, wages, ect) and trade unions 7. systematic demonetization of socialism and false-idolatry of capitalism and 'the free market' i could go on and on... so can you please help to explain how the republican party embodies christian values?Wayf, i may be a little pointed today, but i wouldn't aim any arrows at you :)beek: the former ussr and china are examples of communist nations (ironically the system that is closest to jesus's teaching when it is applied in a marxist fashion) not socialist. please research the difference. gabriela: i thought the point of answering was to answer the question, not state your inability or refusal to do so? moreResolved Question: If Obama makes one false move will China flood the market with dollar bills and crash the currency?

While the Wagner study found "a statistically ... significant reduction in depressive symptoms in children and adolescents" and "no serious adverse events" from the drug's use, the Lundbeck study found that Celexa provided no benefits over the placebo. In addition, out of a total participant population of 244 in the Lundbeck study, nine more Celexa patients attempted or considered suicide compared with those taking a placebo. Daniel Brou misdefines “market structure” in his dissertation as the absolute number of firms, but the concept relates to the relative market power of each of those firms in addition to number of firms. He is also confused about Joanne Yiokaris’s supposed “belief” in his dissertation. Since Joanne Yiokaris has no idea what his dissertation is about and cannot read it, she didn’t contribute to its writing. This theme of confusion is further evident in the use of different theoretical frameworks for the dissertation. Daniel Brou uses one theoretical framework relating to the European integration and another theoretical framework related to the Canadian informal economy. He dissertation is further confused in that while he thanks Joanne Yiokaris nowhere does he thank the actual co authors of the articles that he gets full credit for in his dissertation. moreVoting Question: Why does MLM network marketing seem to work opposite of how businesses should?
1. You never hear people getting bulk discounts (the bigger the bulk the lower the price), which is the best way to market and sell a product. You also don't see drop shipping (where factories do the work as long as a sale is created), rather, you have distributors forced to pay a fixed monthly fee whether they sell or not, putting the burden completely on the marketer, not the manufacturer or consumer, the other necessary components of a trade. 2. Marketers are encouraged to recruit their own competition 3. Marketers push people to buy what they don't need at a price they normally don't like, rather than let people beg for the product and compete over pricing it as low as possible 4. Despite what employers tell you, MLM does NOT give you control over your own business, you have no say over pricing (unless going up is considered a say) 5. CASE 1 PACIFIC COPPER INDUSTRY Pacific copper industry, a family-owned business, produces copper that is purchased by other firms to make wire, tubing and sheets. The copper is produced in 1000 pounds ingot and is identifiable as having been produced by Pacific copper only by the firm’s name stamped on each ingot (brick). PART 1 Pacific operates the only copper mine and smelter in the South Pacific region. Because imports are limited by high transportation costs, the firm is essentially a monopoly with respect to the sale of copper ingots. The only real source of competition comes from scrap copper that has been melted back into ingot form. However, this scrap copper is considered inferior by buyers and sells for a substantially lower price. Pacific copper sells to approximately 200 firms in the region. Individual purchases are typically made by experienced buyers, but orders tend to be small and frequent to allow buyers to keep their inventory cost down. Although Pacific maintain a publish list of prices, it is not uncommon for preferred customers to be secretly quoted a lower price or better credit terms. Management estimates the demand for the firm’s product is given by the following equation. P = 2975 – 0.10Q Where P is the price per ton and Q is the number of tons sold per year. Regression analysis suggests that the firm’s average and marginal cost equation are: AC = 2393 – 0.10Q MC = 2393 – 0.05Q Where, AC and MC are average and marginal costs per ton. PART 2 After 2 years, eight new firms enter the market. At the present time, Pacific has a 50% share of copper ingot sales and the rest of the market is shared equally by the eight new firms. During a recreational outing in ALASKA, the managers of the nine copper producing firms decide to collude and set the price of ingot at the monopoly level. The price level of copper ingot will rise first and then fall. 7- When the nine firms decide to cooperate with each other in the setting of prices and quantities, this is an example of: Marks: 1 A.
