Resolved Question: Can an apartment leasing company fine you for violating terms when they contradict what we were told by them?

When we first looked at our apartment, it was shown to us by an employee of the leasing company. We believe it was the teenage daughter of the manager. She told us the complex didn't "technically" allow pets, but that many cats lived there, so we would be able to keep ours there. Months later the management found our cats in our apartment and gave us notice that we have violated the terms of the lease, and that we had to remove our pets. We were fined hundreds of dollars, and told that if we didn't remove our pets, we would be evicted and still have to pay rent as if we were living there. I think we are the victims of fraud and false advertising designed to get us to sign a lease. Where does the law stand on this point? We are in Texas. more

All we want is to build a connection with our fans in order to solidify our relationships to remind them of upcoming tour dates, nearby performances, or any updates we might have in order to refresh the memories of our fans. We were recommended on some international mail forwarding service sites but getting an international P.O. or Private box seems a little suspect, wouldn’t you agree? Although they offer great services they only require your personal information….sometimes to much information. I have scavenged many postal services sites and some websites seem a bit puzzling. Even though they have U.S. Postal Forms and identification requirements they false advertise and some sites even have numerous complaints from previous customers. If I were to come across one of these misleading websites how would I be able to recognize a true and faithful postal or forwarding service from any other website posing as a legit mail forwarding service? Are there any services that allows you to apply online if so this would be my first option to cut out the hassle and run around the postal services have been giving us. We’ve tried everything from Post Office boxes, Private Mailboxes and social networking sties. Unfortunately, the Postal Services are on shaky ground. Postal Services have rules and regulations to combat mail fraud and other crimes committed using postal and private mailboxes which sounds convincing but the postal services are on the wrong side here. Rather than protecting privacy they are seeking to invade it and rather than allowing some consumer choice they are looking to stifle what little competition exists. Unfortunately, scam artists also utilize the convenience of private mailboxes to hide illegal activities, such as credit card fraud, identity theft and schemes to swindle the elderly. In other words or simple terms, P.O. boxes and Private Mailboxes are growing concerns of the postal services used in order to single out P.O. boxes and PMB(private mailboxes) who have personal accounts instead of business accounts. We would like to have an address rather than using one of our own physical home address because you guys are aware of fans(groupies) can be a bit psychotic at times when bands are in the limelight destined for stardom. Resolved Question: Can you demand proof that an advertised used car has been sold?

Texas mandates that dealers include the VIN number with each advertised vehicle. I've been shopping for a used car now for some time and on more than one occasion I have been told "That car has already been sold" only to see the same car advertised a week later with the same VIN number. Can I demand proof that this car, with that specific VIN number, has indeed been sold? I'm really concerned that the practice of bait and switch is far too common and that the dealers are betting on the common populace's ignorance to not call them on it. I'm contemplating filing a complaint with the BBB, the state Attorney General's office and the FTC for false advertising. I would just like to handle it on my own if I can. Thanks in advance.  more

Resolved Question: American Home Shield is using false advertising. What can you do about them not living up to contracts?

I purchased the product and they have denied the claim to service my air conditioner x2. They keep coming up with excuses as to why they can't and we are caught in the middle. Is there any remedy out there for the general public? The fine print in the contract does not indicate it will not cover an aged unit. Each time they have sent out a different company and they have reported different things that need to be done in order to fix the problem. I do not have any confidence in any of the companies that they have sent out. Any adivse that you can give would be appreciated, I live in Fort Worth, Texas. more

I go to a restraunt that has a daily special posted on the front of there place. But after you eat they try to charge you extra for refills on tea and other things. It palinly says the price posted includes a drink, bread. Nothing is extra. This is in Texas so if anyone knows of the agnecy I need to report this to, Thanks.Maybe this will make my question a little clearer. I expect to go into a business and know what I am paying for and the price. In this situation there is only the price posted on the window. nothing else is written down. I know that I do not want a company to just charge me whatever they want and this seems to be what is happening. I do not believe anyone has the right to just come up with a price once you have received a product or service without making sure you know what that is to begin with.
