Open Question: South West Wind song title?

Does anyone know the name or artist of a song with lyrics "a south west wind in a south west town?" I was so sure it was called "South West Wind" but I can't seem to find it anywhere (not even on Google shock horror!) so now I'm second guessing myself about the title itself. It was a female singer, with mainly a guitar backing the vocals and it had a real folk sound to it. I heard it on a Canberra FM radio station, I think it was called Artsounds on a Saturday afternoon, if that helps at all and I'm assuming it was an Australian artist. Thanks! more

Open Question: Who are some good (relatively new) rappers? Ones that don'y just rap about money either, someone like Eminem?

I like Eminem cos some of his raps the lyrics don't mean anything but they flow so smoothly, and some if his raps mean a lot and come from the heart. I want to listen to some more rap, but a new artist. I can't see any rappers around today that don't rap about stupid things (like Dizzee Rascal - I like his beats but he just pisses me off). I'm wondering about Lady Sov.... any other suggestions? more

a mate asked me this today & it got me thinking...what 3 songs have changed your life? whether it be a song that's helped you through a tough time, a song that makes you reflect, a song that reminds you of somebody that you love...or hate. a song thats changed the way you listen to music. what 3 songs have had the biggest impact and why? after a longgggg time thinking, my 3 songs are: * 'Gravity' John Mayer -- whether it be some of the most meaningful lyrics i've heard, or the brilliance behind the music, this is a song that i have to keep coming back to. Mayer is an artist that can be appreciated over and over, and i never get tired of his genius. * 'Everlong' Foo Fighters -- possibly my favourite music video of all time (watch if you haven't already). The Foo Fighters keep getting better over time in my opinion, and this song is 1 of the best. * 'Lover, You Should've Come Over' Jeff Buckley -- Grace is an album that changed the way in which i listen to music. Buckley is a musician that continues to blow my mind, and this song is pure bliss. more

Open Question: Serious iTunes trouble - wide variety of issues?

I have never used iTunes before, as I have a Zune and therefore use the Zune program for all of my music management as well as burning CDs. However I recently received a $60 giftcard from iTunes, and so of course I wanted to use it. I downloaded iTunes, and had no trouble entering in the code for my $60. I chose 2 movies to download, as well as an album of music, Michal Buble's "Crazy Love," the bonus/extended version. Though this is probably just my not being used to iTunes, I find it irksome that while downloading I had no idea which songs were downloading currently, which had been downloaded, and which had to be downloaded still. I also tried playing a few different songs that I thought were done downloading, but nothing ever started. I had to exit out for dinner, and it kept telling me I had unfinished downloading. I had no idea what was unfinished, but it said it would remind me when I got back on. I hit the quit button numerous times and tried to exit out, but it never quit. It was very frustrating. The same box kept coming up, telling me I had unfinished downloaded stuff but it was okay, that I coudl resume it late. I finally did ctrl + alt + delete and chose "end now" for iTunes. After dinner when I turned my computer back on, I opened up my "My Music" file to see what had downoaded from iTunes. It appeared that everything had, the album and the 2 movies. I transferred them all to Zune. When I opened Zune (which I have never had a problem with in my 4 years of using it), it showed the Michael Buble songs as individual albums/songs. That wasn't really a problem. I edited the tite and artist of one to be Michael Buble and Crazy Love, and then added all of the others to it. They were titled "download" rather than the song tites, so to retrieve the song titles, I listened to the first few words of each song and googled the lyrics. I had soon fixed all of the song names. Then I chose "Find album info" for the album, (something nifty that Zune does that checks the songs in the album, in short), because I noticed that at least 1 of the songs supposed to be on Crazy Love was not there - "Haven't Met you Yet." When I checke with the accurate album info from Zune, I noticed that the apparent album "Crazy Love" that iTunes had given me only had about half of the songs it was supposed to, while others were from completely different albums, and so some of the songs from "Crazy Love" that were supposed to be there weren't. I then exited out of Zune and re-opened iTunes to see if perhaps the songs missing hadn't been fully downloaded yet. I checked and that didn't seem to be the case. The only things left to be downloaded were the movies, so I resumed those. I bought one Taylor Swift song, which downloaded just fine, and I could play it. About this time I noticed nothing seemed to be happening with iTunes, and so I tried to click things, scroll up/down, but nothing happened. The status box (ctrl + alt + delete) said it was not responding. Once again I had to chose "end now." After it had exited I went to re-open it, but under Programs --> iTunes, it said "empty." I had used it 30 seconds ago and had certianly not uninstalled it. What on earth is going on? more

Open Question: Talent vs. Creativity?

Talent vs. Creativity which deserves more respect? or are they equal? -An artist who can sing their heart out vs. an artist using a vocoder/autotune, but it sounds cooler. -An artist using an electric guitar with tons of effects vs. An artist playing only his acoustic guitar -Beat machine (controlled by fingertips and involves relatively no skill) vs. Playing the drums (hard as hell and requires lots of coordination) - Hiring a choir vs. using a "choir" effect on a keyboard -The list goes on What really sparked this thought was the whole debate on auto tune and people who were bashing it saying it was a cop-out for people with no skills and anyone who used it was a phony, etc. So if you cant sing then you can't make music an be a respected artist? I'm an amateur musician who can't sing worth a damn. I have written lyrics for all my songs and want to express them but feel that my terrible voice would ruin my songs haha. So I have been considering using some sort of auto tune/vocoder. Maybe different effects and pitch ranges for different songs so it's not too monotonous. It just seems like I would get a lot of slack for using a pitch aid in all my songs. I guess this is more of a discussion rather than a single question. So I would love to hear some opinions on "Talent vs. Creativity" and my dilemma with sucking-at-singing. Thanks in advance! -Chris more

I'm American, and the song is in English. It's Singer/Song-writer style. It's sung by a girl. She is the only one singing. It has a dreamy, foggy quality to it. And the lyrics are hard to make out. I don't think it's Alanis Morissette or Amy Milan. But I might be wrong. I don't think the girl is playing a guitar or any other instrument, but I'm not entirely sure. It's not Country sounding AT ALL. It's not Hip Hop sounding AT ALL.
