Open Question: Using 2010 Camaro for advertisement purposes?
Hey Yahoo! users!
How effective do you think it would be to use a 2010 Chevy Camaro for advertisement purposes?
My beef with traditional TV commercials is that so many people record shows and fast-forward through commercials, or just change channels when commercials come on. So, companies are spending money on advertisements that aren't even being seen!
But what if the advertisement was presented in a way that people *wanted* to look at it, i.e. a flashy car such as a Camaro? I myself always gawk when I see a Camaro on the road or in a parking lot, and as far as I can tell, so does pretty much every other guy (and some girls). To me, it seems like the Camaro would be a perfect means for advertisements. People already look at the car, so painting it in corporate colors and using catchy slogans would expose the company to many people. Plus, the Camaro is cheap (relatively) compared to commercials: 30,000 compared to (potentially) millions.
Anyways, that's my thoughts on the matter? What do YOU think? Would using a 2010 Chevy Camaro be a good way to promote a company or advertise specific products?

moreOpen Question: How to sell online (specific questions)?
I've been considering making plush toys to sell online, but I have no clue where to start and am just getting frustrated trying to do research. I know nothing about selling online, so I have a lot of questions (you don't have to answer them all). I'll try to keep it short.
1. I know that quite a few people use Etsy.com to sell crafts. Is there a site you would better recommend, or is Etsy quite good enough? (I have a deviantART account and would also use that to advertise.)
2. How do I accept payments? Should I get a PayPal to do this? (If you could direct me to a place that explains how to get a PayPal account and how it works, that would be awesome.)
3. Will I have to pay a fee for whatever site I end up using to sell my product? How much is this fee, generally? (A rough estimate is all I need.)
4. How do I ship my products to the people who buy them?
5. Is it really worth the time it takes to sell my product? How likely is it that I can make enough money for this to be my job until I finish college? (I only need money to pay for my car loan, car insurance, and gas, so I need to make approximately $300 a month.)
I literally know nothing about this, so thorough explanations would be very much appreciated.
Thank you so much to any who answer. :D
moreResolved Question: A short story: Final Stop?
I wish I knew how many times I've read this piece... haha.
Final Stop
Leaning against the metal railing, I glance down at my cell phone, 7:23. The train should be here soon. On this humid summer’s night, the light rail station is rather empty. A mother holds the hand of her small child by the sign advertising one of the city’s more popular restaurants, Ellington’s. The advertisement pictures a happy couple, toasting to something— perhaps the luxury of a night for just the two of them. They look almost too happy, as if they’ve been slipped too many anti-depressants. No one is that happy, not in this small town, at least.
Sitting on the wood bench by the ticket booth, an elderly man rests his tired eyes. A few teenage girls chatter amongst themselves at the far end by the vacant tracks. One seems dangerously close to the edge, just past the yellow line, the one that you’re supposed to be behind while the train approaches. My mind wanders, as my lucid imagination shows the girl tripping backwards over the edge just as the train barrels through as it slows, splattering the walkway with blood, just like that movie “Final Destination” – I love movies. But then I snap out of it. I have a vividly evil mind like that sometimes. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, and take in my sacred moment of solitude. A few minutes of my treasured bliss— my thinking time —is all I need, all I could have for now, as the slight breeze signals the approaching train. The distant horn blare sounds suddenly, causing my heart to race a bit. The breeze from the engine flies past— it’s close now —and it feels good, washing away the humidity for a moment. Finally, the doors swing open and we begin boarding the train.
“Welcome and thank you for using the official light rail of Virginia’s Transit Association. Please take a seat and keep your ticket in hand; the attendant will be coming around shortly,” says a voice over the intercom system. Gripping my ticket, I place it in my pocket for safekeeping. I scan the train for an open seat, a window seat. To my dismay, the only seat is one bordering the aisle. I look around for friendly faces, noticing a few people my age. A girl who looks like she just got off work. An elderly woman with some department store bags. An eerie man with dreadlocks, wearing a Yankees cap and drinking something wrapped in a paper bag. An older man in the back with a hoody drawn over his head. With no choice but to otherwise stand, I sigh and take the seat next to the old woman. I place my bag beneath my seat, situate myself into a comfortable position, and slowly drift into a shallow, foggy nap.
“And how are you today, young lady?” The question startles me awake, fogginess, huh? I open my eyes, look to my right to see the man with the dreadlocks. His greasy locks escape through the holes in his Yankee’s cap. His lips are still moist from the last drops from his mystery drink, and pungent like cigarettes and cough drops. His eyes are dilated with euphoric mystery.
A bit dazed and confused, I look around the car— almost everyone has reached their destination and departed the train, except for the sleeping elderly man in the back. Wearing his hoody, he sleeps soundly. Maybe I dreamt somebody was talking to me? But he seemed to be looking back at me, as if anticipating some sort of response. Before muttering even the simplest response, my shy finger points to myself, and he does a quick nod raising his eyebrows and giving a tight, wide goofy smile, confirming his request for human interaction. Did he not see my eyes were closed?
“I’m good, thanks,” says my sleepy voice, as I slid across the seat towards the window.
He slips into the aisle and next to me in my seat. He looks into my eyes like the Cheshire cat with a big grin, as if he’s looking for diamond tear drops. I try to stay calm, but my eyes open wide, as I press myself back against the window, panic spreading paralyzing fear through my limbs. I’m wide awake now.
“Your eyes,” he begins with a whisper, “your eyes are quite brown for green eyes.”
I’m baffled. I guess the mystery drink is working magical wonders on this man. As my heart rate subsides, I figure maybe he’s a harmless drunk, but I continue to keep up my guard. Smiling, I give the tweaked eyebrow “you’re crazy” expression, but I realize that he’s waiting for some sort of reply.
“Oh… well… thank you?” I pause to search for the right words, “you have pretty eyes, too?” I say reluctantly, feeling a bit goofy having a conversation with a creepy, crazy man on a train.
The sheer thrill of my compliment rushes through him, brightening his day. He relishes in the idea of receiving a compliment, but after a few minutes of silence, the smile begins to fade and round two begins.
“So, where are you headed this evening?” he says. During this short time, he’s developed a comfortable relation with me. Unfortunately for him, it’s not mutual.
My clammy right palm clencMy clammy right palm clenches my clammy left. I suddenly feel uneasy and pretend not to hear him. He catches on, scrunches his eyebrow and repeats his question, “Where are you headed, young lady? It seems a bit late for you to be out alone!”
What is he looking for here? Is he a sexual deviate? An escaped lunatic? A drunken paranoid schizophrenic? A caring stranger? DING, the voice on the PA system announces my stop is only two away. Next stop in five minutes.
“I’m off to the movie theater,” I say quickly, hoping he takes note of my short answers.
“I see, I see. I was thinking about going tonight.”
I nod my head; count the seconds until my stop.
He inches closer to me, “So what film are you seeing?”
“I’m not sure,” I utter before biting my bottom lip and moving closer to window. At this point, he’s trapping me in my seat, like a hostage. I hope and pray the old man in the back is actually alive and, if I’m really lucky, an ex-marine who will rescue me.Helloooo, strange old guy, come help a girl out, pleeease. Be a good Samaritan who will wake up soon!
“Well,” he pauses to cough into his sleeve, “maybe I should join you. We could see that new comedy with what’s his name, uh—”
Terrified, I pretend to take a call, “Um, yeah, sure. I’m getting a call… sorry, I have to take this.”
Without hesitation, he responds, “Who is it? Your boyfriend? I bet a beautiful girl like yourself has the boys lining up and down the street,” he says with a laugh, coughing, wet and phlegm, like a homeless guy with emphysema.*homeless man with emphysema.I ignore him and begin speaking to the invisible identity on the other side of the phone conversation. “Oh, hey, I was waiting for you to call me back. How have you been?” I listen to the sounds of silence and, every once in a while, I ask another question. “I heard you just got back from a trip, how’d that go?” As silence begins to share her story of a trip to the beach, the identity in my seat— blocking me in —remains patient.
I look at him from the corner of my eye, and he smiles back, creepily tapping his wrist, glancing towards the back of the car and back to me.
I shrug my shoulders, as he inches closer and places his sweaty, left palm on my hand. My breathing stops, my speaking stops, but my heart beats faster. With his right hand, he forms a tight grasp around my right hand and my cell phone.
I’m numb. I’m frightened. I’m petrified. He slowly closes my cell phone, ending my call with silence. I’m trembling inside and out, but he strokes my hand— his attempt at keeping me calm and quiet. Frantically, I search for help from anybody on the train, but fear blinds me— I’m on my own.
DING! PA system announces our arrival, as the train begins to decelerate.
“So come on, my treat, let’s catch that movie,” he says gingerly, yet nervously, glancing back at the old man sleeping in his hoody covered head. It’s as if considering whether or not the old man will be able to ID Mr. Dreadlock once my beaten and butchered body is discovered in the river the next day.
I don’t answer. I can’t answer. He draws his arms back and subtly returns to his normal sitting position. Still bewildered and confused, we look at each other. His eyes, once dilated with mystery, are now dilated with sadness; mine with trepidation. He suddenly seems sober. As the train comes to a stop, the doors swing open. I notice a young woman around the age of the mysterious stranger waving and smiling on the landing. Mr. Dreadlock looks back at me, as he leaves the car, smiling that Cheshire cat grin and hugging his girlfriend, swinging her around jovially. Huh? I’m confused and relieved, as the doors close and the train begins to pull away from the station.
DING! Next stop is my stop, 10 minutes. My mind and body are exhausted from the excitement. Mind gets foggy, eyes heavy…..as a hand firmly covers my mouth from behind....Now that was obnoxious to do. Haha, comments?Aw guys, don't give me all the credit; most of it belongs to G Love. All I did was write a rough draft of the story and put in the some punctuation. G did all the imagery and all the amazing stuff. Haha, I just posted this piece because I couldn't post my edits on G's question... apparently, my answer was too long.
Still, I'm glad you guys enjoyed it, but really, give the praise to G. :)P.S. UnKnown, I'm fourteen. If any fourteen-year-old can write like this on their own, well, I'd be just as shocked as you are. Haha, I do my own writing, too, but it's never anything like this.G, writing this wasn't obnoxious at all; it was the posting it that was obnoxious. I hate how they limit the number of characters that I can use. I mean, some people talk a lot (cough cough us cough cough) so we need extra characters.
Haha, but you've convinced me on the humor/informality points. I think I'm going to put them back into the piece and save a copy on my computer. You know, years from now, I want to be like, "Hey, remember when we wrote this? Yeah, that's the summer that we spent all of our time on the computer." Haha, at least it paid off for *says in a dramatic voice* Ashlyn Valentino. :)
P.S. No matter what you say, in my mind, you still deserve most of the credit.P.P.S. For our next story, it needs to be something... different. We should hit all the genres. The first was mystery and the second can be whatever pops into our minds. Start thinking!

moreOpen Question: My ex shot me in my dream?
I had a pretty eerie dream. In this dream I was supposed to drop my daughter off to visit her father which I normally do) and her dad was in his car it was a dark black car and he was sitting in the front seat (passenger side) with his hood over his head. It was a new car and looked daunting. He did not acknowledge me at first but then he told me to get in and drive. I refused because I can not drive and I am afraid to drive (in real life.) In the dream I felt like if I did get in the driver seat and droved that the car would explode with all of us inside. So I made up an excuse that I had to go around the corner real quick and that we would be back and I took my 5 year old with me.
During this time my 5 year old and I entered some type of eatery/bar and I was very panicky. I searched for change in my purse to call my mom. I first tried to call her at home but the phone was busy. I then tried her cell but every time I dialed the number the payphone would play an advertised message. So I could not call her.
My daughter and I quickly exited the shop before he could find us. 30 second or so after we exited the shop he came across the street with a rather angry face on and he looked muscular bigger than usual. Sensing the tension I told him that we had to go meet someone-my mother. He said okay I will go with you two and I told him no that is okay I think we should go alone. He kept insisting and he told me why can’t he go it’s not that far away. I told him I am leaving you (we were not together; I just meant that we were leaving at that moment to go meet my mother.)
We somehow walked towards a type of Dead End Street. He began asking me questions like why? When is this going to end I think he was referring to his visitations with our daughter and him not being able to see his daughter as much as he would like. We started arguing and then my 5 year old daughter said oh boy and started crying. I picked her up and I told him see. I was pointing to her to let him know our arguing was affecting her. He started sobbing and then pulled out a gun and shot in the air. I don’t know if I got shot but I think I might have got hit in the right side of my chest and then I woke up feeling very somber.
What could this dream mean?
My daughter’s father and I do not have the best history. He currently gets to see his daughter once a month and I have just recently wondered If I should try to increase the visits and I think this dream gave me new light. While he visits have been once a month, I used to let him go outside of the order so that he could see her when he got the chance but then he kidnapped her and held her overnight so I had to be firm and stick with the once a month visit. He used to have every weekend, split holidays, and day visits but things got really bad and it had to be cut down to once a month. I had my daughter when I was 18, we were young. It has been 5 years since and I have not dated anyone after him. He was my first.
What do you think this dream meant?
moreOpen Question: am I a shady car dealer?
I bought my first car in November 2009 for $5500 and crashed it on April 2010.
The front part of my car was damaged and needs replacement such as the bumper, bonnet, compressor, radiator, head lights and it has no battery as Ive used it for my new car, and the registration has expired as I accidently drove into the back a car in front of me.
I got it assessed by a machanic/panel beater or smash repairs and I was quoted the damages could be at least $2000 in damages.
Im selling this car (through private sale-advertised in front of my place) for $750 but the machanic/panel beater or smash repairs quoted a sell price of only $500.
I had a someone who wanted to buy it and I gave them the price of $750 and they were very keen to take that price.
Is this fair if someone else with mnore knowledge quoted a much lower price? and will I risk the buyer asking for a refund if they find out how expensive the cost of repairs would be later on? or
can they actually ask for refund on a sold used car through private sales?

moreVoting Question: I HAVE BIG IDEAS!!!!!?
I want to start my own country. I will have to buy land from a country that is poor, so I can afford it, but it has good resources, so my country can be rich.
Here's how my government would be;
You apply to move to my country
If you decide not to work, we will send you to an island with resources where you can survive on your own, but you can't return.
You start school at 5, and finish at 20, which will be the legal age.
Drugs that are psychoactive are illegal. Weapons are banned from people who aren't police, or in the military.
We have a powerful military, so war can be avoided at all costs.
People can drive cars at 20.
People can marry whoever they want, and can marry as many people as they want (any dislike of polygamy is cultural, but since this is a new country, it can have a new culture.)
Minimum wage will be 1/5th of maximum wage.
People can eat anything that is edible except other people (any dislike of the consumption of things like horses, dogs, cats is only cultural.) Animals must be killed humanely. This includes a bullet to the head, or a quick decapitation. Knives and CO2 will not be used.
Government isn't done the same way. There will be people who study the economy under one branch, there will be people who make ethical decisions, and there will be people who will make decisions regarding foreign relations on the last. Each branch will have 100 (congresspeople) to run it.
People can say what they want if it isn't threatening, hateful, or discriminatory. People are allowed to criticize the government.
Currency will only be used to purchase amenities like vacation, cars, games, toys, homes, etc. Everyone who works will have access to medical care, and food.
Only people who have proven themselves as highly intelligent, competent, and wise will get into government branches. They will have one term, and will serve for one year.
People who commit serious crimes (this includes murder, abuse, and treason) will be banished to a second island for criminals. They will be separated from the island of people who won't work, so they aren't hurt or killed.
People who commit minor misdemeanors will first be given warnings, their second act will be considered, and a punishment will be decided.
People are innocent until PROVEN guilty. Circumstantial evidence isn't enough.
Corporations that spread lies through advertisement will not be allowed to advertise, judging by the severity of what they did. A public service announcement will air, saying that their claims are invalid.
There will be extensive food regulation, so people cannot make crappy products and lie about it. There will never be ingredients such as "natural flavors" and "artificial flavors". Instead of sugar, a very general word with many different forms, products may be labeled as sucrose. Starch is sugar, corn syrup is mostly sugar, malt is sugar.
In major cities, there will be the biggest firework shows in the world! Thousands of fireworks will enclose cities everywhere for every national holiday!
In schools people will learn history, reading and writing, math, biology, physics, foreign languages, and they will be given an elective.
Only paper money will exist, because the idea of coins is silly.
Just for fun, really crappy entertainers like ke$ha and Justin Bieber will be banished to a THIRD island, so they don't get killed by the criminals, or annoy the lazy or criminals to death.I will not legalize drugs, because they cause violence. Alcohol is a drug. The plant marijuana isn't a drug, but it contains THC, which is. If they breed marijuana that doesn't contain THC, people can smoke it all they want. If people did shrooms, wouldn't there be a lot more car wrecks? If only wise people make the decisions, and these people are replaced every year, there will not be an imbalance. Just to make sure, there will be certain laws put in place which can NOT be changed. There are other differences between the EU and my government. how my congress is laid out. The laws regarding drugs are tight in my country. There is a maximum wage too. Food is not something that is purchased. how crimes are handled. Oh yeah, there is also a firework show that is amazing. I know all about government, and aware between the similarities between my country and the scandinavian countries.daniel l. This is a stupid question (no offence). People don't own animals. Businesses can. When you are working in the business you can use it on the animals, but that doesn't mean you own it. You can't bring it home with you.People are sent to an island instead of prison, so they can live how they want, but society no longer has to suffer from their presence.

Hi everyone, id like to describe my current situation which is probably all too familiar to most of you
I come from a lower(working) class family in England. Im a 17 year old guy studying A levels, living with two younger sisters and my parents in a rented house. As with many families in at the moment we are X thousand pounds in debt, im not sure of the exact number and it isn't really important. i see a lot of advertisements on the TV advertising 'get out of debt solutions.' i have to say resorting to one of those campaigns really isn't something i want to do.
i do not plan to earn a lot of money in my life, im focusing instead on Karate and my study of Philosophy, both of which i am very passionate about. to me those to subjects are far more important than making money, however it is clear that most of us will have some money problems at some point, so i ask for any tips you can give me to avoid getting in debt in the first place and owing money to anyone, i don't want to end up in the same situation as so many others.
as it stands at the moment, i try to keep my personal costs as low as possible, i do not own a car, i use public transport and ride a bike-that's a few thousand per year off already. i also rarely eat out, go to expensive social places, i don't drink/smoke/gamble ect for various reasons.
so yeah that's me, apologies for the length but are there any other tips you give me to avoid debt?
thanks in advance
moreResolved Question: Mowing Lawns for people?
I am 13 and have been mowing my lawn since about age eight (by my own will - I even had my mom let go of our lawn service so I could do it). I used to get paid $10, but I recently got a raise to $15/cut. I was wondering if I could mow a few other people's lawn in my neighborhood for the same price. I have the proper equipment and motivation. I mow, weed-eat, edge, and blow. Over the years I have improved and I now do a good job. Advertising is my problem. Due to my age, I made a flyer to pass out face-to-face. The flyer doesn't list prices - should it? (I don't want to look like a business). One problem - I live in a deed restricted, no soliciting neighborhood. A lot of nice seniors live in my neighborhood - I'm not sure if they would mind... Any advice? I will also offer services, such as weed pulling, raking, pet sitting and car washing. Thank you for your answers in advance as I really appreciate it.

I've seen some of these around. A lot of them seem to advertise specifically for ipod control. I'm just curious if they will charge a device like my droid smartphone and also allow me to play music off it.
Mostly I only care about it charging because I can use the aux input to play music, however that would save me from using 2 wires instead of just 1.
moreResolved Question: Holding a balance on my card vs. paying it all off (and general credit/loan questions)?
Hello,
So here is a small issue that I've been thinking about. For a good half year or so, my FICO score has been staying at a steady 745. I want to raise it so I keep up with my credit card payments, yet it has stayed the same. Then it dawned on me, everytime I get a charge to my card, I pay it off right away, that way most of the time, on each of my cards, my credit statement at the end of the month reads a value of $0.00 owed.
However, now I have people saying that it is better for me to allow those charges to show on my statement balance and then pay them off afterwards and that that will build my credit. Is this true? Does having a balance show on my monthly statement matter? Will it directly improve my credit to finally creep above this 745 dead zone I've been sitting on?
The reason I want to raise it is I am beginning to look to taking out a loan for a car (partially so I can get a new car and partially so I can build better and larger credit lines for a house in the future).
Would this be a good idea to reach my future plan of a house or should I stick to just the credit cards and not taking out a loan on a new car since it will mean I will incur more debt?
Also, what kind of loan rate do you think I'd be looking at for a car loan? I am in California, and am looking to get a loan for a used car at $10k. The credit union I am at advertises an interest rate of 6.45%.
With a credit history of 3 years and the aforementioned score, what kind of realistic interest rate would I be looking at? Above 10%?What I meant with the taking the car loan to increase my ability for the future, I meant is my thinking right in that if I show that I had a loan of this size and paid it off, would it make it easier to get a housing loan in the future or is it irrelevant and I should just stick to building my credit through my credit cards alone?
moreResolved Question: What's the truth about subliminal videos?
I'm aware of positive experiences resulting from making changes to how one feels at a subconscious level. It looked like subliminal videos could be great for people - just sit back and watch and enjoy the benefits.
I thought I'd investigate what's offered. I'm pretty disgusted at the results, which include:
* Very dodgy claims, e.g. they can make anyone wealthy
* The most obvious cheap sales tricks, like buy now to save x% - today only!
* Misleading offers, like claim your absolutely free video (only if you buy a bunch of other stuff)
* Try the free sample - none of which work (unrecognised file formats)
* Watch this online short video (that doesn't work)
* Harvesting email addresses to hit you with loads of their adverts
* Excessive sales talk like dodgy car salesmen trying too hard
* Countless efforts to grab your money
My experience is that honest suppliers of honest products don't use all these tricks - they simply advertise, provide the means to order and pay, and supply.
I looked for a long while and found nothing that seemed trustworthy.
Anyone out there had experience with these videos?
Are there any genuine, trustworthy providers of these videos or what?God is a man-made delusion to comfort and control in equal measure, and has nothing to do with the question!

The Second World War saw the disappearance from the shops of all but the necessities.
Rationing of food and clothing
Bacon - 4 oz. (113 gm) to 8 oz. (227 gm) a week

Cheese — 1 oz. (28 gm) to 8 oz. (227 gm) this can worke in to days markit family's can be given

In July 1940 a complete ban was put on the making or selling of iced cakes, and in September the manufacture of 'candied peel' or 'crystallised cherries' meant the death knell for the traditional wedding cake.
On 1st December 1941 the Ministry of Food introduced the points rationing scheme for items such as canned meat, fish and vegetables at first. Later items such as rice, canned fruit, condensed milk, breakfast cereals, biscuits and cornflakes were added. Everyone was given 16 points a month, later raised to twenty, to spend as wished at any shop that had the items wanted.
There was an advertising song in a commercial film in 1943 which went:
Somebody’s going to be sorry,
Somebody’s going to pay,
Somebody’s going to be sorry
They wasted my life away.
with a picture of a tablet of soap dissolving away down the sink because it had been left in water.
A 12-oz. (340 gm) packet of soap powder was half a month’s ration; you could get one egg every two months and powdered egg could be bought on points. Fruit like bananas vanished altogether.
Clothes rationing on points began in June 1941 and a new kind of clothing— utility clothing—was introduced, using cheap materials and the minimum amount of cloth.
There were even points for furniture, although you were given these only if you were newly married, or had been bombed out, or were having a baby.
Petrol was rationed so people stopped buying cars.
The things still rationed in 1948, three years after the war, were:
Bacon and Ham 2 oz. (57 gm) per person a fortnight
Cheese 1½ oz. (43 gm) a week
Butter/margarine 7 oz. (198 gm) a week
Cooking fats 2 oz. (57 gm) a week

Eggs No fixed ration: 1 egg for each ration book when available
Liquid milk 3 pints a week
Preserves 4 oz. (113 gm) a week

Bread, soap, bananas, and potatoes were also rationed during this period. In 1951 people could still buy only 10d. Public sector pay
A further way we can ease the pressure on public services is to agree that we need to restrain public sector pay in these difficult times.
And we need to do something about the spiralling costs of public sector pensions.
Many millions of people in the private sector have in the last couple of years seen their pay frozen, their hours reduced, and their pension benefits

moreResolved Question: T mobile verbally promised replacement phone but now going back on word?
Spoke to T mobile complaints department and they promised to swap out my phone (samsung i5700) as it had a tonne of problems. The main thing is that it advertised itself having bluetooth but it doesn't work due to the outdated firmware so it wasn't fit for it's intended purpose. Nor does it seem they will ever fix the new firmware.
So i complained saying that they had mis-advertised and mis-sold the phone which is against the law. They then promised me a replacement which was the HTC desire after they said they would offer me a replacement.
Now they offered me the phone and I accepted. The deal was that they would send me a return envelope to put my old phone in and send it back to them and they would send me the HTC Desire on receipt. The complaints rep said she would call me. So I sent the phone back. Unfortunately the lady i was speaking to wasn't in as she was sick. After waiting patiently on the day she was supposed to call I had to call her back but her colleagues are now saying that I do not deserve the phone as it is more expensive! Because i was expecting the phone I also bought a car dock which only fits the phone as i was planning to use it for the weekend. It has cost me many many lost hours and expensive calls too.
I believe T Mobile have broken the law at least a few times in this case.
1. They have mis-sold the phone.
2. They offered a replacement which has now massively inconvenienced me as i've been using an older phone which cannot use any of the services that I got with the contract.
3. After being promised the replacement they are now back peddling and saying that they can't (which I know is breaking contract law (they offered by verbal and sending the prepaid return envelope and I accepted by sending my old phone back))
Please can anyone confirm I'm right? From studying law and looking at consumer law I'm 99% sure they are in the wrong and should send me the agreed phone and re-imburse me for all expenses (sending the phone back, loss of use of contract and the calls to their offices).
ThanksThanks for all that. But the difference is the bluetooth doesn’t work. It is advertised with bluetooth but I can’t use it for anything as the firmware with it breaks it.
Also the phone, because of the firmware it cannot use all the software that is available because it is too old. On top of that, the stability of the phone has been compromised, on several occasions I have had calls and tried to pick up the phone but because the phone is slow to respond after clicking answer, the other person has hung up. These are among many other problems and the phone just isn’t fit for its intended purpose.
I have been into a store and they said that T mobile would update the software very soon (end of april I believe).
Also according to consumer law they should not inconvenience me when offering a replacement. I agreed to using an old phone temporarily but this has gone on longer than expected.
I have made several calls and it seems that each of them has actually conceded that if they can find

moreResolved Question: Should I try to come up with the money and pay her back, or take it to court?
Yesterday, I sold my old jeep to a young lady and her father. They had driven the car 3 times before deciding to buy it, and her husband and father inspected the vehicle and said it was good. They checked everything-the tires, motor, transmission, and after driving it, her father said it was a good car.
Today, the girl called me, very angry and said that she wanted her money back, because the car wouldn't start, and the windows wouldn't roll up. Now, I was surprised because as I had told her before, the car had worked for me absolutely every time I used it. And the windows were working. She said it was false advertising, and her husband threatened to sue me.
Now, from the people I've talked to, I know that once the deal is done, it's over. I signed the title over, they gave me the money, and that was that. The car was working just fine while I had it. So what should I do now? I will be speaking to an attorney tomorrow but I want to have an idea or at least a few opinions on what to do. I don't even have the money anymore, I used it for college. I feel kinda helpless. Any ideas? It's a 1994.
What could they possibly sue me for?
moreResolved Question: Why are people against smoking Marijuana?
I myself have smoked before, however I have not touched weed in about 6 months give or take. When I smoked I would go from a week long binge to having a dry spell for a couple of weeks. I smoked for a total of about 2 years and I never had any issues with my responsibilities, like school for example. I actually kept a 3.6 GPA and I never tried any other drugs except drinking. So, personally I find no issues with marijuana unlike what many people will tell you (It makes you stupid. It leads to harder drugs. It takes over your life. It's addictive.).
Now I will rant.
Ok, so I know it's addictive. I'm not going to deny that. However, it's certainly less addictive than something like cocaine or even caffeine. And yes, caffeine will cause withdrawal symptoms not unlike nicotine withdrawal. While marijuana can cause psychological dependence, marijuana does NOT have any physical withdrawal symptoms. I had absolutely no issue when I quit, and I only wanted to smoke for about the first week. After the first week I have no longer felt any desire to smoke up, except for the fact that I occasionally just want to wind down and enjoy myself on a joint.
Now, the government has a completely legalized industry for alcohol, which by the way messes you up MUCH more than marijuana. And I know that you people who have never tried marijuana often find this very difficult to believe, but just ask your self this. Have you ever seen somebody get so high that they were too dizzy to stand up and walk straight? Have you ever seen somebody smoke up and then puke their guts out all night from weed poisoning? No and no. marijuana will simply chill somebody out or get their heart racing. It depends on the strain, but in either case, nobody is overdosing or seeing double. That's saved for the completely legal alcoholic drinks that are advertised all over the television.
Also, marijuana has never killed anyone. And I mean anyone. Of course, you can say that people will get into their cars and crash, but have you ever thought of how people get into their cars and crash all of the time, while they're completely sober? Besides, there are studies that have shown marijuana usually makes somebody a more cautious driver and getting high is equal to about a .05 BAC (.08 is the legal limit for alcohol).
Now, I'm sure that some mom is going to come on here and talk about how because of weed their kid does heroin or whatever. I don't know how this myth got started, but I believe the number is something like only 1 out of every 30-40 people who have tried marijuana will go on to use any other illegal substance. And from my own experience, the only people who actually went on to use heroin or coke actually talked about that BEFORE they ever tried marijuana. No joke. Most people understand the consequences of hard drugs and see what it can do to a person's life, and so they stay away. It's that simple.
I think that my favorite myth is that marijuana makes you stupid. Right. How about you go tell that to my formerly A.P. student friends (now off to college) which would get SAT scores up in the 2000s. Yea if that isn't proof enough right there, here's something else for you. Marijuana has not been proven to kill any brain cells. In fact, studies have shown that it actually STIMULATES brain cell growth. I **** you not. It only takes a quick Google search.
Now when people say that marjuana will take over your life, I believe that they must be referring to the far and in between cases where people actually did let marijuana take over their life. What those same people don't realize though is that they probably know loads of people that smoke weed, or have smoked weed, but that never let it take over their life. The thing is though is that you will never hear about it because that's just not something you would talk about with a co-worker or a neighbor. Most functioning people can handle smoking a little bit of marijuana once in a while, the SAME WAY people can have a beer or a glass of wine every once in a while.
Now, my final point, which is probably my most important is, what has a marijuana user ever done to you? Nothing, that's what. And it's because somebody who smokes weed is not going to need it like somebody who snorts coke. It's just not in any way addictive like that. Nobody is going to mug somebody else because they're killing for a nickle ($5 dollars worth of weed). However, you probably could get mugged by somebody because they need their fix of crack.
In my eyes, people who reject marijuana users are just plain tools that they think they have a duty to protect a society that knows more than them. If you people want my advice, go educate yourself and stop letting yourself be influenced by all of that propaganda you thought was the truth. You really said health concerns? Really? Obviously completely ignored my post.
And yea I'm sure it way to painful for you to try and read something about a plant that is in the process of getting LEGALIZED. Prick.Oh and I don't care if you don't feel like reading my super-post just so long as you don't say something as stupid as "health concerns?"to Kris,
I don't know what that guy was smoking, but it wasn't weed, I can tell you that. Not even mushies would made you suddenly come down to find yourself surrounded by guns. Sounds more like he was smoking some wet, which is weed dipped in PCP.

moreResolved Question: Do you think hybrids are a viable alternative?
I wrote a persuasive essay for English a while back and I thought it'd be appropriate to post it somewhere on the Internet, so why not Y!A? :D Anyways, I can't find my 4 or 5 sources anywhere but will edit them in if I find them. Tell me what you guys think...once I get the sources up you can check my internal citations :P
Hybrids Are Bad for the Environment
Hybrids are all the craze nowadays and the car companies are selling them under the impression that they are the ultimate in green car technology. They have an advertised MPG, or miles per gallon, that is much, much higher than gasoline and diesel fueled cars. They emit fewer greenhouse gases while running which contributes to the slowing of global warming, the natural heating of the Earth which can be intensified due to higher than normal amounts of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Finally, they use less gasoline because of the MPG which will save the precious gasoline supplies in the world. But are they really that eco-friendly? Hybrids use Nickel-Cadmium or Lithium-ion batteries, Cadmium and Lithium being extremely rare in large quantities. The processing of the nickel in preparation for battery making releases copious amounts of sulfur dioxide into the air, which causes acid rain, which will destroy the ecosystem for miles around the nickel plants. Hybrids also advertise 19 MPG higher than what the realistic MPGs of hybrids are, and the precious gasoline that hybrids are using less of, will run out about the same time the precious minerals used in the hybrid batteries run out at current rates. There are also hybrids that plug into the wall, and of course that makes the emissions out of the car less, but the emissions from the coal being burned in 70% of the United States is much less clean than the gasoline and diesel fuels. Hybrids should not be developed further, as they are as destructive to the environment as gasoline cars are, as they use precious minerals in their batteries, cause acid rain around the nickel plants, destroying ecosystems, not saving them, and burn coal instead of gasoline for power. The best alternative for the most eco-friendly car is a clean diesel car with the PZEV, or Partial Zero Emission Vehicle, option available at many dealerships.
The batteries used in hybrids destroy ecosystems around the mining and processing plants and the precious minerals used in hybrids will run out at about the same time as gasoline. Will this really solve the problem? The batteries in hybrids, in an example of the Prius batteries, made in Sudbury, Ontario, cause acid rain. According to Impact Lab, “[t]he acid rain around Sudbury was so bad it destroyed all the plants and the soil slid down off the hillside” (Prius), and with more and more companies creating hybrids, more and more battery processing plants will be made, causing more and more acid rain due to the copious amounts of sulfur dioxide emitted during battery processing. Not only do the batteries destroy the ecosystems around the plants, “after maybe 100,000 miles, the battery starts to lose its ability to charge. Tesla Motors performance figures even state that after 50,000 miles, the batteries will only perform at about 70% their optimal, factory level” (Why). What does that mean? That means that after 100,000 miles the battery will have to be replaced, and the used batteries cannot be recycled, and thus just go into landfills. And if you want optimal performance, you’d have to change the battery every 50,000 miles. The average gasoline car can be used until nearly 300,000 miles before ultimate failure with minor repairs, which is 4-7 batteries in a hybrid. And you have to remember that, according to Four-bits.com, “lithium… is pretty rare in large quantities. With projected increases in the use of lithium, the known mines would run out about the same time as oil” (Why). This makes hybrids just another quick fix that won’t fix the problem with the environment long term.
Many hybrids are being converted into plug-in hybrids which plug directly into a household wall socket and charge via the coal-burning power plants that provide electricity to 70% of the United States, and coal emits many more greenhouse gases than gasoline does. This means that “coal-burning plants could be even worse for the environment than gasoline-burning engines…” (Hybrid). And even in the green-powered electricity states, such as California, Jim Motavalli of The Environmental Magazine quoted that the
“ACEEE concluded that a plug-in version of the Toyota Prius could reduce CO2 emissions by a third over a conventional Prius hybrid, but only if its batteries were charged with California electricity — generated mainly from relatively clean sources. In the Midwest, dominated by coal-burning power plants, the report says the plug-in Prius would actually generate one percent more carbon dioxide” (Motavalli).
California being the strictest state in emissions standard, this is a rare case of hybriThanks for your rebuttal :D I spent about 5 hours digging through all the pro hybrid stuff to get to this con hybrid stuff... I still dislike hybrids (I'm a fast car guy, not a fuel efficient one) but I was not aware that the sudbury (spelling?) was cleaned up... anyways, thanks for your rebuttal, I convinced my whole english class that hybrids were bad (including my hybrid-driving teacher) so now I have the actual facts. I'd still rather ride a bike to be fuel efficient. :P
moreResolved Question: Is this a good enough deal, or should I be more aggressive? (Used cars)?
A local Toyota dealership was offering $5000 for any used car as a trade in. My trade in is a 1997 Ford Taurus I would consider to be in poor condition. (Accident free, but heating and air conditioning have both failed. Around 140,000 miles.) The vehicle I am after is a 2009 Toyota Prius with no accidents on record, but 38,000 miles. Kelly bluebook values this at $18,470. The salesman has asked for $19,000 on the vehicle, and despite their add will only offer $4,000 on the trade. I doubt my current car is worth $1,000, so even with this trade, I would be getting a vehicle valued at $18,470 for only $16,000 It seems good on paper, but I am wondering if I should really push for them to live up to their advertising claim. As the trade in deal ends tomorrow, I need to decide soon.

Hi there everyone,
Have a big question for you fine folks if you’re up to it.
My wife Stacey, my dog Ruston and I, Hank are going to be moving in the next month from Winnipeg to one of these new places. Kitchener, Cambridge or Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
We’ve done some research on these places but would like to hear from actual residents which one they think would suit us better since we don’t know much about the business/personal lifestyles in these area’s.
I guess the best thing to do is tell you about ourselves and tell you what we are looking for.
My wife Stacey has worked in healthcare/secretarial work for over 12 years, has her own online/home business Sunrider http://www.harnessyoursunpower.com She is also big into working out and becoming involved in the fitness field. She recently ran her own “Biggest Loser Challenge” to which the winner received an $1100 jackpot for losing the most weight in 4 months. Her and I currently run an online garage sale type of business where we sell locally to the people of Winnipeg (but will soon change it to where ever we end up) http://www.garagesalewinnipeg.com She is 33 years old and is a very hard worker at anything she sets her mind to.
Ruston is our doggy and is my best friend! He is 12 years old but acts like a puppy. He is a Husky/Lab cross and loves to go on daily walks and car rides. He’s a little human with fur!
Now..me. I’m a professional rock drummer, expert vintage comic book collector and right now, a pizza delivery dude full time. I also run my own Collectibles Research website http://www.youcollectweconnect.com where I help people find the stuff they love to collect. I am going to open an online vintage comic book store in the next while as well and I need to be in an area where I can buy inventory and participate in the comic book/collectibles field. I am 42 years old but my wife says I’m like a little kid and sure don’t look my age.
We are looking more for a city type setting rather than a country place to live meannnning while the out in the country and being away from people may be great for some folks, we are used to being active and up until the wee hours doing things.
We want as close to a large populous as can be, I want to get in a rock band and play around the surrounding area’s, I want to talk to business owners and be around a business district (center) where I can learn more about home business in that city. We want to be in a safer area (where we don’t have to look over our shoulder all the time) and we want to be able to shop after 6pm at night if we need to.
We are not party people but we have a good time when we want to, we are mature, responsible adults who know what they want out of life and are working hard to get it.
Now, which one of these places sound like us….Kitchener Ont.?? Cambridge Ont.?? Or Waterloo Ont.??
We have chosen these places to look because they are very central to London, Toronto, Detroit, New York and many other big places only a short drive away from for our type of home business’s and lifestyles…ie: Shopping for vintage comic books.
I didn’t mean to sound like I was advertising our business’s on here, I was merely putting them on so you could be well informed of who and what we are and what we do. If it breaks a rule we apologise in advance! For once I wasn’t advertising…LoL!
Feel free to ask us any questions and we’ll try to answer in a timely manner between running our business’s, working our jobs, walking our dog and packing..yeah, I know ..everyone’s busy..LoL!
By the way, we’re moving because we rent and they sold our house and we’re really tired of Winnipeg and need a change in all aspects.
Thanx in advance everyone!

The Media and our Body
Images of female bodies that have the 'perfect' figure are all over the world. Women-and their body parts- sell all from foods to cars. Young women are being brainwashed into thinking that the ideal shape means to be skinny, tall, furthermore, being flawless, also known as perfect. ** thesis goes here**
It's not just development that affects self-esteem. Many other factors (like media images of skinny girls) can affect a person's body image too. Seeing these images over and over may lead women to think that their own bodies are not acceptable, leading them to develop unhealthy body images. And unfortunately, such negative feelings can sap self-esteem and set the stage for eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. Many women will strive for that 'perfect' frame no matter what they have to do.
All the negative influence that the media is portraying as the 'perfect' body are causing more problems then solving them. People are beginning to go to great length just to stay thin, and flawless. An American research group of eating disorder, says, that one out of every four college-aged women uses unhealthy methods of weight control—including fasting, skipping meals, extreme exercise, abuse, and self-induced vomiting. Young girls, too, are being affected to stay thin. But we can stop this!
One of the ways we can protect our self-esteem and body image from the media's definitions of beauty and acceptability is to become a critical viewer of the media that we are bombarded with each day. The media's news about body shape and size will affect the way we feel about our bodies and ourselves only if we let them. So, be aware of the 'flawless' images, the stereotypes based more on looks than on talents. The put-downs of people who don't fit the narrow definition of ideal. When we effectively recognize and analyze the media's messages that influence us, remember that the media's definitions of beauty and success does not define our self-image or potential.
Overall, though its sad to say, media has completely took over our lifestyle. Although, it can be changed, it all depends how we feel about ourself. No one should want to change who they are because the media makes women feel like we have to 'look a certain way' or 'be a certain way'. The media is just words and pictures designed to advertise products and endorse. The harmful messages they send shouldn't be listened too!

moreVoting Question: I dont know what is going on with my boyfriend?
Its quite complicated - Firstly - We have been together for about five years. He has his own business so I bought a house which is in my name. We agreed to do this in case his business folded and i wouldnt lose the house. Anyway - he does F@@k all to help me in the house - No help with DIY, no help with cleaning or maintenance. When i ask him why he says Its not his house so hes not intrested!!!! I feel really crap - he keeps throwing in my face even though it was his idea. He has a flat above his business and sometimes he still stays there, esp if we have an argument he just goes back there. Because of this set up he wont help me pay any bills on the house. He stays up till 3 in the morning using electricity. He gave me a credit card a while ago but im not allowed to use it so i have given it back to him. I dont know what to do - I work for him and I get a small amount of money for doing this but its not enough to live on at all. I have a son to support and my bf is just not helping. To top this off - I said to him I really dont know I can financially go on and am looking for another job. I joked about becoming an escort and he said he found that really horny. So horny in fact he nagged and nagged me to join an agency. Then because i joined he did too. That same day they said they had a booking for him - it made me feel sick. He was going to do it but then found out the agency are scamming people so cancelled it. I just dont know what to do - what is he doing to me. He has a boat which costs him about 1400 pounds a month, a new car which he recently bought for 800 pounds a month plus other stuff. yet he wont help me more. I saw a shop near me today advertising for staff so i told him i might apply and he was really shitty about it. I cant win - and i dont know what to do.

moreResolved Question: One Stop Motors ????
Has anyone ever sold or bought a car from One Stop Motors? or even heard of them?
I placed an add for my car on ebay and within 3 days One Stop Motors contacted me saying they could advertise and get my car sold for $499 non-refundable for more than what I was asking, that they would continue to advertise it until it was sold, and it would come up on the top 3 of any search engine. However, being skeptical I said sure if you could mail or email me a list of the services and advertisement sites you plan on using that you just described to me over the phone.... well that's when all hell broke loose.... and they had me check out their website and read their blanket agreement online and do everything but send me a contract or description of exactly where, how long, and how many websites / ads they planned on marketing my vehicle. The only way they would divulge that information was in an invoice that I would get only after I paid them my $499 non-refundable. They just seemed shady especially if they do not offer their to-be customers with a solid assurance of where their money is going to be used towards and it is non-refundable.
Has anyone here ever sold or bought a car from One Stop Motors and if so how did it go? Has anyone here even heard of One Stop Motors.
moreResolved Question: how can i get more traffic to my dealership?
hey everyone...i have a small used car dealership and i have been doing okay through these tough times for the auto industry. recently however, it has been very very slow, and i need to sell some cars!
i have some of the best prices in the market, and i advertise on craigslist almost everyday...which for the past year, has been where i have sold the majority of my vehicles. i have advertised everywhere from local magazines, newspaper, autotrader, and i even have my own website. its weird because all the money i spent on advertising, i hardly got my return. i feel like the magazines and newspapers called me just to make me feel like i was getting traffic, but no one ever showed up from one of those leads.
i was wondering if anyone has any ideas as how to bring traffic onto my car lot. maybe certain places i can advertise, or a promotional event of some sort? i feel like ive tried everything. thanks so much for your help!! btw, im located in riverside, ca which is a relatively dense population, and i am in between two main streets..

had this weird dream that pissed me off.
In the dream I remember being completely ignored by someone I have feelings for that has been ignoring me since I told him how I felt. Then I remember all of us wearing buttoned collared shirts with stripes. I looked up those symbols, but I also remember being in a closet, noticing the open door wanting to go outside, then finally going outside and then seeing the person whom I have feelings for playing with his exes' hair... :x OOO! It made me so pissed, especially since he got cheated on by her. I remember wanting to say something to him, but I like in real life didn't because I didn't feel like getting hurt more or rejected. I also saw a bunch of cars in my dream but I wasn't in any of them. I couldn't find anything else relating to that. Any ideas?
I don't mean to advertise but, I originally posted this dream on dreammoods.com so I we actually use the definitions for symbols in our dream to intrepret them, I posted here, because over there they happen to be quite selfish with their time, any help hereHe got cheated on in real life, and that concluded to my strong feelings for him.
I told him how I felt in real life, and he's been ignoring me. I'd hate to bug him and ask him if he likes me, but if that's what it takes to not have that dream again I'm ok.
moreVoting Question: How Can i get my money Back for a used car i financed that is unsafe and defective?
I have purchased a dark blue 2006 Dodge Magnum in December of 2009 from North Coast Auto in Bedford Ohio. The car was found online and myself and my boyfriend worked with a John to make this car mine. It was advertised to have a new engine, keyless entry, tinted windows, clean interior, ect. A used car in excellent condition, sold for the bb value of excellent condition.
John also informed us that while he was holding the car for us he noticed a crack in the windshield so he had that replaced. We had gone to the dealership the middle of December and put $400.00 down then arranged to take $2600.00 later to pick up the car. We had taken the rest of the down payment the end of December and the car was still not ready they told us. Then after about two more attempts to go pick up the car at a time that was convenient for me and my work schedule, TaRodd and I made it up there, John said it would be ready that morning. I called him multiple times and he ignored the calls so I left a voice message stating that I would be there at noon because I had to be at work at 1:30pm. The last time we spoke he said it would be ready as he said in the morning. Once we got there he looked a little surprised and said it would be one more hr, that they were finishing the detailing. He had me sign the papers, I didn’t feel comfortable signing the paperwork without seeing the car other than online but he assured me that if anything was wrong with the car we would shred the paper work and refund the down payment. Tarodd and I then waited and at 1pm I had to call in to my job and use 2hours of my paid time off so that it would not affect me attendance because the car was still not ready. We kept waiting and then I had to leave for work and they said that Tarodd could stay and look at the car and bring it to me and if I find anything wrong I can take it back. Well Tarodd didn’t leave the dealership until 8:45pm after they had closed. They then gave him the keys and left. Driving Back To Akron TaRodd then noticed that the engine light had popped on, he called john’s cell, to tell him what happened an that it needed fixed but was only able to leave a message. Once I got off work we noticed that some of the nuts on the outside of the hubcaps were missing also that the hatch back door did not hold itself up. Then it snowed and we noticed that something else wasn’t right and moisture was inside and the defogger was not working. We had to snow scrap the inside of the windows while driving or I wouldn’t be able to see outside. Then the check engine light came on, and the control arms were wobbling and would cause the car to jerk around. While these things were happening Tarodd and me were calling Jon and leaving messages demanding he called me back and that the car was unsafe to drive. When he did answer he apologized and assured me that the car would be fixed completely and told me that he hadn’t called me back because he gave my number to Bronco from North East Auto who was the garage that fixed their vehicles, and that he was supposed to have called me, but didn’t. He said he would call Bronco again and he gave me his number as well so that I could call him if I did not hear from him by the next day. When I did have to call Bronco the next day because he did not call me all he said was to bring up the car and he would fix it, but when I asked how long it would take he would not answer and said just drop it off. I asked when to bring the car he kept telling me to drop it off before 7:30pm but I worked until 10pm every night. I explained that to him and so did Tarodd and he then said have Tarodd drop it off. Tarodd drove up there the first time and they kept it 1 week and didn’t do anything except reset the check engine light and told him to bring it back on the weekend so they could finish fixing everything. So then 1 day after he got it back, prior to taking it back on the weekend, the check engine light came on and the car was still emitting lots of black smoke when it would get on the high way and when I would increase speed on the high way. It was clear when it snowed that nothing was done the week they had it because the windshield was still leaking. Then on the weekend Tarodd again dropped the car off on his way to class and they had it 8hours and when it was picked up they told Tarodd that they had to order parts and that they would need it for another week. Well we got the car and told them this is ridiculous and that they need to get everything together because this is a bigger hassle than needed. We then left multiple messages on Broncos and Jon’s phone requesting a call back regarding when they had all the parts. No one ever called us back. Then it was time to get new plates and I hadn’t gotten an E-check because the check engine light was on and would not pass so Tarodd and I drove up and told them we were on our way. Once we got there Bronco asked us to make a list of things needed done so we quickly wrote done the major

Next break down less then 30 days I called the carmax I purchased it from ( Nashville TN) Carmax send a tow check which they provided at their cost. Next carmax indicate the car had a blown head gasket and Valve Cover Gasket would also need to be replaced as well. My car has been at carmax almost 2 weeks with they cannot get ahold of the company who underwrote the Maxcare policy and therefore will not fix my car. If 2 weeks pass they cannot get ahold of them up to this point, is there reason to suspect they ever will ? In the mean time I am without car and it looks like Carmax is hoping I will wear down and pay for the repairs myself. Two weeks seems enough time to get an answer from the carmax extented service warranty policy I paid over a thousand dollars for.My question what are the next steps I can take ? Texting on a cell phone is even more dangerous than talking. A study by Virginia Tech found that texting while driving on the highway increases the risk of having an accident twenty-three times. On average, a text message distracts a driver for about five seconds, which on a highway means about one-hundred yards. Off the highway, the University of Utah found that texting increases the risk eight times.
56% of teenagers admit to talking on their cell phones behind the wheel, while 13% admit to texting while driving. (Note: Because this information was given voluntarily by teens, actual cell phone use numbers may be much higher.) 48% of young Americans from 12-17 say they've been in a car while the driver was texting. 52% of 16- and 17-year-old teen drivers confess to making and answering cell phone calls on the road. 34% admit to text messaging while driving. In 2007, driver distractions, such as using a cell phone or text messaging, contributed to nearly 1,000 crashes involving 16- and 17-year-old drivers. Over 60% of American teens admit to risky driving, and nearly half of those that admit to risky driving also admit to text messaging behind the wheel. Each year, 21% of fatal car crashes involving teenagers between the ages of 16 and 19 were the result of cell phone usage. This result has been expected to grow as much as 4% every year. Almost 50% of all drivers between the ages of 18 and 24 are texting while driving. Over one-third of all young drivers, ages 24 and under, are texting on the road. Teens say that texting is their number one driver distraction.
'Texting' while driving is the act of composing, sending, or reading text messages, email, or making other similar use of the internet on a mobile device while operating a motor vehicle, such as an automobile, truck, or train. The practice has been viewed by many people and authorities as dangerous. It has also been ruled as the cause of some motor vehicle accidents, and in some places has been outlawed or restricted people have to stop.
Texting while driving leads to increased distraction behind the wheel. In 2006, Liberty Mutual Insurance Group conducted a survey with more than 900 teens from over 26 high schools nationwide. The results showed that 37% of students found texting to be "very" or "extremely" distracting. A study by the AAA discovered that 46% of teens admitted to being distracted behind the wheel due to texting. One example of distraction behind the wheel is the 2008 Chatsworth train collision which killed 25 passengers. The subsequent investigation revealed that the engineer had sent 45 text messages while operating the train.
A 2009 experiment with Car and Driver magazine editor Eddie Alterman that took place at a deserted air strip showed that texting while driving had a greater impact on safety than driving drunk. While legally drunk, Alterman's stopping distance from 70 mph increased by 4 feet; by contrast, reading an e-mail added 36 feet, and sending a text added 70 feet.[1]
In the UK in 2009 Gwent Police worked with film maker Peter Watkins-Hughes and production company Zipline Creative to create the graphic short film "Cow", as part of a campaign to stop texting while driving.[2] The film earned honors in the Advertising Age's weekly Creativity Top 5 videos [3] and became an overnight worldwide internet hit after being shown on the American news program The Today Show.[4]
On August 29, 2007, Danny Oates was killed by a young driver of a car, allegedly texting while driving. The defense had argued that driver Jeffrey Woods had possibly suffered a seizure during the time of the accident. [10]
On January 3, 2008, Heather Leigh Hurd was killed by a truck driver who allegedly was texting while driving. Her father Russell Hurd has been actively supporting a law in various U.S. states called Heather's Law that would prohibit texting while driving. [11]
The 2008 Chatsworth train collision, which killed 25 people, and which occurred on September 12, 2008, was blamed on the operator sending text messages while operating the train.[12]
In 2009, a crash on the MBTA Green Line of the Boston area was blamed on a driver who was texting. This occurred nearly a year after the Newton, Massachusetts rail accident, which occurred on May 28, 2008, and was blamed on the operator using a cell phone while operating the train.
A day after talk show queen Oprah Winfrey focused on the dangers of texting while driving, two members of the Georgia House of Representatives introduced bills that would ban the practice.
“Don’t tempt fate,” said Rep. Amos Amerson (R-Dahlonega), quoting Winfrey. “That text or call can wait.”

moreResolved Question: Summer Business Ideas for 16 year old who needs money.?
I will be turning 17 in July.
I have recently been absquatulated from my part time job.
I want to open my own business when I am an adult and see this as an opportunity to develop my entrepreneurial skills.
I have thought of these already:
Car Wash: I cant rent any space to do a car wash and I don't think it looks good to ask to use the clients water supply due to the fact that I will have to go door to door.
Yard Work: Its incredibly unfortunate that I am so allergic to spring and summer time, because I do not mind doing yard work, but it gets hard to plant flowers and cut grass when my eyes are watering so bad I cant see.
Baby Sitting: I'm looking for a more professional job other than baby sitting and I think most parents have baby sitters and don't plan on switching just for the summer.
Online Source: I have looked online to make money, and each one turns out to be a scam. I am so sick of people suggesting online surveying or "click ads and make money". SO NO ONLINE SOURCES!
Dog walking is an option, although maybe as a last resort.
House cleaning/ pet sitting: I don't think many people who go on summer vacations would trust a 16 year old male to watch their house.
Advertising for small businesses: I thought that maybe I could contact small businesses around my community and offer to hand out flyer's for them at a cost.
ANY OTHER IDEAS ARE EXPECTED!
Brainstorm all you can!
Quantity not quality!
I need a way to make money this summer in order to pay for my gym membership which I am on a contract for another 8 months, as well as my cell phone, due to the fact that few, including my own family have telephones anymore.

I’ll be dying in my makeup and you’ll be dying without it. Did you have a point? Because somewhere in your own special ugliness you lost meaning and I forgot what you said. So center the text and write some more, it’s all mine..and its all needneedneed.

They said I'd never be anything but who has the world watching them? Who has such amazing and dedicated fans? People need to hate me because they hate themselves. They want to believe the rumors about me because they don't have their own rumors. I'm here to stay, with my diamond rims and pink lipstick, so get used to it and worry about yourself before you try and be negative towards me.
I'm a getaway car for real feelings. I'm your Miss Methamphetamine, the truth shoved up your nose. Smile, with your gasoline teeth and forced empathy. Let me be the one thing that makes your heart break because you can't help it. You need someone like me to make you feel wrong.
Everything is monotone like my dead fucking eyes and I'll say "I'm the only Miss America. I'm what your mother was supposed to be. I'm perfect."
"I want out of the labels. I don't want my whole life crammed into a single word. A story. I want to find something else, unknowable, some place to be that's not on the map. A real adventure. A sphinx. A mystery. A blank. Unknown. Undefined."

moreResolved Question: Used 2006 Mini Cooper s price?
I've been shopping around online for my first car, I've found several minis that are selling for less than $5000, but the one that's caught my eye is a 2006 Mini Cooper s with plenty of upgrades selling for just $4,500.00. I cant believe that a car like this would sell for so cheap, is it a scam? Or do used minis really sell for such low prices? The car is advertised on Buysell.com.
moreVoting Question: Open an office - have basic questions?
I'm about to (or at least hope to) open my own office soon. I'm wanting to start small with technology, mainly a 2 or 4-line phone. My question is maybe simple, but I'm used to the in-house switchboard operated multi-lines, but I'm not in a position yet to need, nor be ready for that type of investment. My question is this: If I get either 2- or 4-line phones (probably 4 just to be expandable in the future without new equipment) and have lines hooked up to them, will I need to publish/advertise each number as an office number or can they be set up to have one "master number" that will ring the 2nd line if the main line is in use? And the same basic question for 4-line. If this can't be done with a "traditional" landline, could it be done with a VoIP system set to simulring?
My second question is that office furniture is VERY expensive (at least as a startup) but also, at least in my opinion, very important since the customers first impression will be how your office looks. So, are there any places that rent/lease professional office furniture cheaply enough to make it worth not going ahead and buying it? I'm going to be in need of at least one desk for my office, a reception desk and one other desk for the front office, plus chairs for all of those, chairs for customer waiting, and customer chairs in the office(s). Also needed will be file storage, decorative/functional furnishings (bookcases/display cases/hutches), and all of that is going to cost a few months worth of earnings to buy outright - which as stated would be a huge strain initially. If anyone knows of a reputable, and cheap rental/lease company that would actually service SW Indiana it'd be appreciated (since the things I have found are Indy/St. Louis/Nashville).
Other questions include how much should I budget for signing - which the space I've selected will only have door graphic signage, and a 18"x12" road sign space available if I desire.
Sorry for all the questions, but I don't want to push myself into moving into my own office space if I'm going to jump in over my head. I *think* I've got the budget pretty well down - the space is $450, electric is around $50/mo, so I've got the bare basics, but if I'm going to be spending more than I'm bringing in it's not feasable. I should add I'm guaranteed $1500/mo for at least 6 months, plus my own income. But, I'm trying to budget for no more than $900 of that per month, since I've obviously got my own personal things to pay as well. I can stay in the office I have now - but I have no personal signage, and share an office building (and shared phone system) with 4 other people also making commission - so getting calls is like being a chicken in the alligator enclosure. I'm also going to have to pay $200/mo to stay there - with only a basement cubicle, and no personal phone line, no ability to set my own VM message @ my extension because the office manager is cheap and that requires the phone company to change, and drive about 60 miles/day round trip 5-6 days per week (appx $40/week in fuel + general maintenance). Obviously the private office will be a little more up front, but will save about 300 miles/week on my car, and allow for less competition over incoming calls and walk-ins.
OK, think I'm done rambling. Thanks all!
moreResolved Question: @N This is how the question was asked EXACTLY.?
Part II
You are going to buy a car that will need to be financed. You will need to look at different options and decide which will be the best choice for your situation. You will need to find a car on the internet that you want to purchase.
•Find an advertisement for a car that you would like to purchase.
•You can look at any internet site, but you might consider: http://www.edmunds.com to learn how the advertised prices compare with market prices generally for cars of the same make, model and year.
•Once you have found the automobile you want to purchase and determined how much you will be spending on the car, you need to calculate the monthly payments. Use the amortization calculator at http://www.bretwhissel.net/cgi-bin/amortize to calculate the monthly payments.
•Calculate the monthly payment for your car for each option given below and complete the table.
Loan |Interest Rate|Length in Years
1---------5%--------------------5
2--------7.5%-----------------3
3--------9.99%--------------4.5
4--------11.5%--------------2.5
5--------18%------------------4
So first I went to edmunds and found the car i wanted which cost $36, 050
then i went to her amortization calculator link, to find the monthly payments for my car using her information from the chart she provided. the calculator gave me the following which i added to the chart to complete it.
Monthly Payment | Amortization Interest
$ 1,359.22--------------------$ 416.68
$ 2,220.12--------------------$ 625.01
$ 1,779.69--------------------$ 832.51
$ 2,818.26--------------------$ 958.34
$ 2,426.94--------------------$ 1,500.01
then it asks:
1. Make a decision as to which Loan # is the best option. Explain your reasoning.
2. Think about what situations would make you decide NOT to take the Loan with the following criteria:
•Lowest interest rate
•Smallest monthly payment
•Shortest time
and this is EXACTLY what she asked and how i came about my previous question.
please help i am SO frustrated and confused.

moreResolved Question: False Advertising on Used Car... Law Advice?
I purchased a 2004 Santa Fe from a used car lot. When I bought it, I believed it was an LX trim, with a 3.5 liter engine... as per the online ad on their website and on auto trader.
However, I found out after purchasing it that it is the GLS Trim model, with a 2.7 liter engine. On kelly blue book the difference in value between the vehicles is: the GLS model is worth roughly 10% less than the model I thought I was purchasing.
Now, the bill of sale does not list a trim. Just the make and model. However, I have a print out of both adverts, both with a picture of the car I bought, stating the 'false' specs. Is this enough to prove false advertising?
I would ask for my money back, but I spent $75 registering the vehicle and $275 buying tires for it. I would need to be reimbursed for those costs should he offer a return. Otherwise I want roughly 10% rebate on the price a paid for the vehicle.
Is this an acceptable demand? What would you do?
moreResolved Question: Help with resume - Describing and listing responsibilities/accomplishments?
I was the manager at a pre-owned dealership from Jan-Nov 09. I'm having some difficulty listing my job responsibilities and accomplishments--please have a look and offer some input...
Filed and organized paperwork
Verified client applications and information
Determined eligibility of in house financing
Processed payment information (down payments) and collected monthly car notes
Advertised new cars and sales as well as general business - online and by flyer
Attended auctions with owner to purchase new lot vehicles, helped appraise vehicles. (I wasn't terribly great at appraising)
Give pay to mechanics
Renegotiate with buyer after vehicle re-possession
Notify buyers by telephone and mail of late car notes and possible re-possession.
The lot was quite small, we would have a total of maybe 10-15 cars on site and we would sell about 8/10 per month. I personally sold a few by "accident" but listing that doesn't seem appropriate because it wasn't necessarily my job to be a salesgirl and I didn't use any special technique. So of those cars we had to repossess 1-2 every few months. Of those cars I was able to get the cars back to the buyer by settling on late payments and arranging a more suitable future payment (lot owner approved, of course). And for those cars that weren't repossessed but late on payments I always managed to get them to pay within 12-24hrs of speaking to them. I would say about 80% of the clients I determined in house financing for were good, on time, clients.
How in the world do I list this properly?
moreResolved Question: I can't tell if she likes me..?
so i have a crush on this woman and we have been hanging out because we are planning an advertising campaign for an event together. I notice we get a long really well and our meetings are really sociable and drag on for hours. I have really come to like her and enjoy being around her. She's pretty down to earth and if anything romantic happened between us I'd be open to dating seriously.
Anyhow, I can't tell if she likes me. We've been having meetings at my apartment and her house(she lives with her folks) and I notice that she does things around me like stroke and play with her hair, initiate touching, bump me, solid eye contact, and moving her hair and body really close when getting up and sitting down. I wasn't sure where she stood though cause she is pretty friendly and professional. so I used sensual body language and a relaxed attitude while testing her personal space a little by pretending to have excuses to get closer and she didn't seem to mind and we'd touch legs hands, shoulders etc..
I thought there was a good chance that she might be attracted to me too. But then today we just had another meeting at my apartment and she was doing those things. But I noticed she sat leaning back with her legs pointed towards me but crossed away and she was not making as much eye contact talking and her bag was between us on my couch.not good signs i know... instead of making lots of eye contact she talked while looking at some random spot in the air. I noticed this and thought I might be watching at her too intently or something so I tried not looking at her during the conversation for a while and I noticed that afterward her eye contact was pretty strong. When she left she bumped into me playfully but then i got the feeling as I walked her out to her car she was pretty much on her way instead of lingering though we did talk a bit. and then i went back out again cause we had mentioned meeting again tomorrow with another person and she was cool with it but i realized there wasnt any real reason to meet so even though i wanted to hang out it came out like i was kinda reluctant to. And when I said bye it was cool. And then when I had gone back in she called me again and I was all happy but it was just to ask for directions.
Anyhow Im kinda confused. During our meeting the conversation was still very friendly and animated and stuff and she also initiated touch by touching my hand and I returned it and there were times of feeling flirty or connected and close proximity, but it seemed like she was a lot less relaxed and connected than previously.
One thing to note was that todays meeting started off awkwardly on her arrival and she complained about feeling weird and being on her period. Could that have something to do with the mixed signals. I offered her some chocolate to calm her nerves a little, and over the course she got a lot more relaxed. We actually got a lot done compared to other meetings where we bullshitted and gossiped a lot more. Anyhow, I know I shouldn't waste time analyzing all the little things so much reading into every little thing, but i guess it just annoys me that I can't figure out objectively what the situation is.. I guess it might still be too early to tell either way. arg. i really don't know.. So what do you guys think? What should I do next?
moreVoting Question: Very wealthy yeah... but what's the point?
A very poor and hopeless guy named Bill gates is now the 2nd best! It must be a disappointment for a man who used to be the standard of excellence in business. He only needs 500 million, we must help him, we must give him 500 million, he may kill himself if we don't!
Probably every man on this earth dreams that one day he would become wealthy (except me, I don't care about that, and I don't want to get married I think there are lot more better things to do in life.)
Don't care about my thoughts and philosophy in life because I have a very special one and very different of every man that have ever lived, I need to know what you think about this question:
Lets suppose that I'm very wealthy, I'm so selfish and greed (Just giving an example) I don't care about poor Men and sick Men...I keep getting wealthier I bought many residences, cars yachts, airplanes,whatever...Even if I want to go to space, the ticket coasts 35 million, it's nothing for a millionaire. So practically all you need is about 1 billion to live the luxurest life on earth and to have all your dreams come true.
What to do with the rest? How do you use the rest? I'm really asking this question, if you have 3 billion or more and you don't want to help anyone what is the use of your wealth? You can tell me that you create more companies and get more money, I say yes you can but what's the point you have everything, how do you use the money?
Note:
I have to say this, even though it has nothing to do with my question:
Many people say that bill gates lost his place because he helps poor guys, with all do respect to bill, that's rubbish, the man had about 50 billion last year and this year he has 53 billion which means that he has more and in my book if mr bill really wants to help others he should have given away about 15 billion, I don't believe that any wealthy man really helps others.
I believe that those man just give a little bit money to poor guys in order to let the media see them and say wow look what they did! they give money to advertise for their companies for God's sake, and they get more! It's just business. Take for example Carlos slim, as soon as he becomes the first, he came to Lebanon and promises to help Lebanon....And the media is always around, advertising. What a good man! He had dinner with the president, PM, made some promises and left.
I know that because I'm from Lebanon!
moreVoting Question: My car got damaged during airport parking - what should i do?
Hi all...
I work as the head of travel for a very big investment company - i direct thousands of our clients to an airport parking company, and we advertise for them.
I used them myself last week when i went to new York from London but when i got my car back, there was a crack in my bumper and the right hand side has become loose.
I called their customer relations right away and emailed the head - he said he was really sorry and had referred my case to the contract manager at the car park where it happened, and he will give me a call, they were really apologetic.
However, im sure some of these companies use the terms and conditions to get out of this sort of thing - however, do you think, as we advertise for them and get them thousands of clients a year, do you think they will be more inclined to pay for the damage?
i have had it assessed and its about 150 pounds.
Thanks - imjust not sure what to say to this guy without being fobbed off....
any help / advice..thank you :)
