I got a moving violations ticket back in 1989 when I lived in another state for driving without a license driver in the car. I only had my learners permit at the time. And I was issued to pay a fine in traffic court. I never paid that fine and I never took a road test to get my drivers license in that state. For the past 20 years I have been living in another state and I have received my drivers license where I'm living now. I been driving for the past 10 years here. So I just got screwed over by Qwest Internet Service for the second time. Basically due to overbilling, I signed up at a promotional rate and they refused to honor it, charging full price, and in the beginning even double billing. There customer service is horrible, after many phone calls employees and supervisors have a no care attitude. They basically all have an attitude of "It doesn't matter if there is a mistake or not, my computer can't change it". It took me filing a Better Business Bureau complaint, Attourney General Compalint, and FTC complaint, before they resolved it. (and even though they had fixed it, they offered no sort of apology at all for the mistake, or any compensation for my time) However once again I am all of a sudden being overcharged once more, and customer service is the worst I've dealt with. They have no record at all of their previous screw up, and after multiple phone calls refused to resolve it. They have the same "no way to change it, even if it is a mistake" attitude. So right now I have once again filed a Better Business Bureau complaint, Attourney General Compalint, and FTC complaint. However I do not like big companies screwing over consumers. I want to be prepared to give this company as much bad publicity as possible if I find it necessary. Now I have considered writing online reviews, but there are so many thousands of reviews (including many other bad ones), all over the web, that I feel like mine wouldn't have much impact. I've also considered contacting the TV news, and Newspapers, but I just don't think they would consider one customer being overbilled as newsworthy. This is my last choice, due to the time and money, and studying involved, I really probably don't want to do it, but still something I'd consider. Making a dedicated qwest sucks website where I could try to pool as many bad reviews as possible onto it, and make it open for people to post their own bad experiences. I'd do some studying on serach engine optimization to try to get the qwest sucks site as high as possible on the google results. 5. Perhaps there are other even better ideas out there? Well we both quit our jobs at the sametime and open a limo company and a promotional company together. We are both smart and motivited so we have 3 sucessful events ... One year ago, I had no debt. My credit score is in the 800's. I had a couple credit cards from BoA, neither opened with them originally. I've also got 4 other cards. I use them all periodically and pay them off in full each month. I had the cards because my job had me travel around the world and I generally would have expenses up to $20K per month that I needed to float until I got reimbursed. But I no longer travel, and no longer need such large credit amounts. Anyway, I took a large advance ($45K) on my credit card from BoA. I spoke with them on the phone and I wanted to make sure that after the 0% promotional period was over, it would remain locked in at 7.99% (my "fixed" rate). I then played the stock market and had some in the money options that did a U-turn, costing me approximately a year's salary. While certainly hurt financially, I learned my lesson. (PS Ameritrade will exercise you for $2.3 Million on $1,000 of options....even if you don't want them too but don't say it correctly) I won't be in the derivatives market anytime soon. Anyway, I cut expenses, changed lifestyles, moved into a rented room and had it setup so that I could repay everyone in about 3 years and move on. It was a pretty militant plan. I'm paid bi-weekly. The first check was divied to my biggest debtors in entirety, my second would pay rent, car, operating bills and I'd squeeze by on what's left. That is, until BoA decided I know longer had a fixed rate but a variable one. BoA wants to jack up my interest rate to 26.99%. The reason being that as my bi-weekly checks came against a monthly statement, I began paying them too early. That is, my payments were after the prior due date, but before they'd printed my statement. Why this would have any effect is beyond me, but I know they didn't do this before. I've had this card for 13 years and spent hundreds of thousands on the thing. Anyway, I had back to back statements where my 3 payments, despite each being less than 30 days apart each gap, somehow were no good for their 30 day cycle time. I've tried arguing with them. I'm sick of hearing, "because we can in the cardholder agreement" being given as an excuse. I don't recall any consideration from cardholder changes made beyond the original original terms had upon opening the account. I can't even get past their front line phone people to talk to someone higher up the food chain. My problem is I make too much money for an existing bankruptcy to help me. I'm afraid if I just stop paying them they will garnish my wages. Basically, what I want to do is buy enough of a house that I will make myself illiquid at my income level, declare bankruptcy, but reaffirm all of my debt EXCEPT Bank of America. The only assets I have with a title are two vehicles. One is not paid for and worth about $17K, the other is paid for and worth $4500. The debt owed is down to $29K and I just pulled $25K out of their bank when I closed one of my accounts there. I have no problem selling one vehicle to a non-related third party for $1. I will do just about ANYTHING to not pay this institution. I double checked their financial statements (it's a long read) to see if their fees are anywhere near their actual losses. Not even in the same ballgame. Non-interest revenue in their global services was almost more than their interest revenue, and certainly with higher margins. Their reserve for non-payment was minuscule. No, it's not using bankruptcy the way it was meant to be. But I want to tell them that it's this way because the law says I CAN when they want to warp their contract in the same way. And with a house and 2 cars, I won't be needing credit for a long time anyway. more

I have a reservation from Hertz set up for next week, and was quoted $180 not including the age fee. I'll be using it from a Wednesday night until the following Tuesday morning. Hertz has had a ton of deals within the past couple months for waiving the fee of not being over 24. I see the codes still floating around online, and tried using one. I am getting paid as an independent contract in a business that I own a small portion of, and my K-1 reports this payment as Guaranteed Payments to Partner. I know the method of reporting is correct, but since I am filing as a self-employed independent contractor, I would hope to be able to take my self-employment business expenses (expenses that the company did not reimburse me for) as deductions. Expenses such as car, travel, meals & entertainment, advertising/promotional, etc. The argument that I would make is that the earnings I received as Guaranteed Payments to Partner would not have been possible without incurring business expenses along the way, thus the expenses should be deductible. My expenses equate to 18% of my Guaranteed Payments income, so this will be a significant deduction. Is this logic correct? Can anyone point to somewhere in the code that allows this, or just give me clarity? I can't find anything online or in the code that allows or disallows this. more

Hi, I have a problem that just isn't as simple as telling me to stop! I can't live within my income. I am 40 years old and only have 200.00 in the bank. I have bad self control when it comes to NOT spending my money. According to my figures I should be able to pay my bills and have money left over even after expenses. I work from home so I have almost no commuting expenses, my house is paid for, my car is paid for (but was wrecked so now needs about 2000.00 in body work) and basic living expenses. Examples just this week: Such as today one store had a sell on name brand (our favorite) 20pk of toilet paper for 10.99, if you buy 2 you get a 5.00 gift card and I already had a 10.00 gift card from a prescription promotional several months ago. So I bought two packs for 22.00-10.00 gift card-4.00 coupons (2.00 of each multipack) and only paid 8.00 THEN I bought two more using the other 5.00 gift card I got for the first two and coupons. SO I got 80 rolls of toilet paper for 21.00. Really a good deal, right BUT I already have 150 rolls in storage bought on previous sales. Another store had Dawn on sale for .99 and I had coupons for 1.00/2 so each one was .49. I this week added 20 bottles to the other 62 in the cabinet. And another any Suave product on sale .89 using coupons buy 1 get 1 free had a total of 48 bottles of bodywash, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. I do the same with grocery purchases also. And I do donate quite a bit. I have been very blessed in my life even though things get really tight and pinch hard I have never had to go without. I just want to be able to make and KEEP a cushion. So any ideas what I can do to hold my money for short term but accessible for an emergency and long term? And just live off an allowance? more

Okay so i was walking home yesterday from school and low and behold on my driveway is this guy. I get closer and realize how hot he is and he asks me if the owners of the house are there becaus he wants to know if they are interested in free promotional stuff from GE electrical company. ticketmaster is so ridiculous with their charges for everything. what's so convenient about going all the way to ticketmaster in MY CAR to get tickets?? i can understand buying them online. i need some kind of discount. afterall i have to buy 5 of them. if you can help. thanks more

Voting Question: Should I be mad at him?

My boyfriend is opening his own business with some of his friends in west palm beach. he called me today saying they are having a promotional concert for his business cause it's opening in a few weeks. he didn't ask me to go. he just told me what he's doing. then said love you gotta go. I didn't say love you back. I feel so left out. I don't have a car right now. but he could of asked if I wanted him to pick me up or something. he has never asked me to come to west palm with him ever before. I mean ever. He said call you later on tonight. I know what's going to happen. hes just going to call to say good night. he wont even bother coming over to see me tonight. even though I live about ten miles away from him only. I hate this. he has only certain days and times where he wants to be with me. like only when it's convienent for him. other times he completely leaves me out. I tried to tell him about this before, but he just gets really angry and goes home or to wherever he would rather be than with me. :(. btw I am 18, and he is 22. more

Resolved Question: ENGLISH/IRISH LAW: Is there any statute that covers the following?

I have the following problem to solve. Michelle bought a car in 2004 from Envirocars Ltd and was told that as she was the 1,000 customer she would receive a free upgrade every year for 10 years. In return she would have to take part in some publicity events every year. In January 2009 she approached Envirocars for her free upgrade and was told that due to difficult trading conditions she would not get her free upgrade this year. She insisted but the Managing Director grew angry and told her to leave his shop. She is now suing for her 2009 upgrade. Evirocars Ltd is claiming that there was no contract due to the lack of consideration, or alternatively that there was an implied term in the contract stating that if trading conditions changed the contract could be terminated. I already know that there was sufficient consideration to make it a valid contract because a lack of privacy is thought of as consideration and by taking part in the promotional events she lost that privacy. My only question is if Envirocars can argue that there was an implied term in the contract. Is there any statute that enforces an implied term into a situation like this? Resolved Question: Warning signs he is cheating?

We've been living together a year. Suddenly he has picked up shifts at work and at another job (which I haven't seen a paycheck from) and now he's working 7 days a week. Never home. Suddenly no sex. Suddenly taken an interest in bicycling to and from work when I used to take him in his car and then use his car for that day if I didn't have work that day. Started drinking every single night to the point of black-out as soon as he gets home and half way there before he comes home. Says he drank a little at work. When I try to be affectionate he seems annoyed. Makes so many excuses for his strange behavior that don't make any sense. Last night he drug the futon mattress to the basement and slept there after I fell asleep in bed. It was our anniversary last night too. And he gave me some stupid promotional object that he got for free. You would think it would mean more to him that it was our anniversary. What would you think/do? I mean, I think even a stranger deserves to be treated better than that. more
