Resolved Question: Europhiles? if the EU has no affect on our daily lives, What is this then?

Household: Home Information Packs (HIPs); Fortnightly bin collections; Higher household electricity bills, more wind turbines; Soaring water bills. Consumer affairs: Higher food prices; Written and pictorial health warnings on cigarette packets (including what font to be used); Disappearance of the Crown signs on pints; Lists of ingredients and warnings on food products; Phasing out of incandescent bulbs; Expensive electrical goods, and higher Council tax; New Royal Mail pricing rules; Bureaucracy at the bank; High price of energy saving products; Banning vitamins and minerals; Fewer and more expensive fish; Extinction of swathes of vegetable varieties; The end of selling in pounds and ounces only. Transport and motoring: Car booster seats for children; Photocard driving licences; End of many rural bus routes; Creation of Railtrack; Harder and more expensive motorcycle tests; Preventing the return of the Routemaster bus; In future, all new cars will need to keep headlights on during the day. Law and order: Government’s inability to expel EU criminals from the UK. Media, sport and Entertainment: TV airtime quotas; Banning caps on foreign football players, higher wages, higher ticket prices for fans; Abolition of the 192 inquiries service and replacement with 118; Television advertising rules. Workplace: Banning workers from earning higher wages instead of taking holidays. Economy: The run on Northern Rock; Northern Rock downsizing; Post office closures. Health: Fewer training hours for doctors, compromised patient safety; Higher costs for the NHS. Before you dismiss this, all this came from the horses mouth! Resolved Question: Appealing a Speeding Fine?

Firstly I feel I have to defend myself before I start. I have read other questions on this subject and the people who have used their points to ask a genuine question have received nothing but abuse or judgement. I'm just seeking genuine advise from people who may have been in the same situation as me or can offer me legal advise and not the usual response of "Just shut up and pay up" as some users of this forum has been rudely told. I'm sorry if this sounds rude or harsh, but I'm genuinely worried as my financial situation at the moment is not great and I'm so close to loosing my car and house due to pay cutbacks in my current job. I have been driving for 9 years and I NEVER drive knowingly over the speed limit. I have now received not one but two speeding tickets. One for the 10th Nov and one for the 11th Nov. I saw the speed van they were clearly advertised as being there etc. And I drove past them knowingly both days doing what I thought was the speed limit. The road I was travelling on had no speed signs stating the speed limit and has had no speed signs for the past two years I have been driving through it. Using my own judgement and using common sense I genuinely thought the speed limit to be 40mph as this road is not a built up area and further down the road there are speed limit signs that states the road is 60mph. I am fully aware that ignorance is no excuse. I just feel this is really unfair and unjust. I have no idea what happens next. I am and fully intend to admit I was driving at the time in question. But what does this mean for my license? How long do the points stay on there for? What does this mean for my car insurance? I know that some insurance companies will ignore the first ticket. As I now have two tickets, what does this mean for me? Is there any way I can appeal for one to be removed and just keep the one? I'm just so worried at the moment. If I can't afford my car insurance - I can't afford to keep my car - If I can't keep my car, I can't get to my work - If I can't get to my job... you can see the chain of events that spiral from this. I would greatly appreciate any genuine help and advice. Thank you in advance.I received two letters in the post which are "Notice of Intended Prosecution" - does this mean I have to go to court any way? The speeds which I was recorded doing was 38mph and 41mph in a 30mph zone.Edit 27/11/09 - I have just driven down the same road I was caught speeding on and they have just recently put up brand new 30 mph street signs. The road has street lamps on one side of the road - a little further up the same road the speed limit is 60mph with the same equally spaced lamp posts one one side of the road. more

Resolved Question: What's the point of 'Bump on Board' car signs?

The subject of this post says it all. Why on earth do Moms-to-be advertise themselves as such in their cars? Do they expect other drivers to modify their driving because they're pregnant? I'm sure someone will be along shortly with a perfectly rational reason... more

Resolved Question: has this happened to you before?? ?

I keep seeing his name everywhere and the business he works for seems to be advertised everywhere, they even just recently started advertising it at my work and across the road! why now? anyone believe in sign?? what do you think it means? do something about it? contact them? not meant to forget them? or just god out to annoy you about what you cant have? I know its a coincidence, but now its gone too far and it happens EVERY time i break up with someone. more

Resolved Question: Where in London can I get my front and rear number plates made with out the company advertising on the plate?

All I want is my registration on the plate. GB Euro sign and black boader nothing else. Basically want to walk into a shop and have it done. Where are a few places I can go in London to get this done? With the new keepers supplement. Just purchased a new car from a dealer and it had private plates on it so I am registering the car with the original plates that came with the car. It's all in the process and now I just need to make my plates because right now I have cardboard as an alternative and keep getting pulled over. Help is appreciated. more

Resolved Question: What are the business tax implications (UK) of having your car sign written?

I am thinking of using white vinyl lettering in the back screen of my car to advertise my business. I am not sure if that automatically makes my car a "company car" and if there is any kind of extra tax I will end up having to pay if I do so. more
