Resolved Question: Car sold to us by dealer turned out to be dodgy, can I claim compensation?

We bought a car last April from a registered car trader - did the usual checks but they all seemed fine. But when we came to sell it to another company today it's been revealed that there is a mileage discrepency between the 1st and 2nd owner. The dealer advertised the car as being fully HPI checked with genuine mileage etc and gave us a piece of paper that we now know isn't any such thing. Obviously this has made our car a lot less valuable today and I'm wondering if I would be entitled to challenge the dealer for not carrying out all the necessary checks and selling us a 'clocked' car? more

Resolved Question: 2008 Chevrolet Impala. Is keyless entry standard?

I just purchased a used 2008 Chev. Impala from a local Chev. dealer. It was advertised with keyless entry. When we went to pick the car up, I was told that they did not have the fobs for the system. They then told me that this was not a standard feature on the 2008 LS Impala. I can certainly believe that they do not have the fobs, but I am skeptical about their statement that it was not a standard feature and my car is not equipped with the system. more

Voting Question: What should I say to the car dealer to get them to hold the car for 9 days?

I want a specific type of car, and apparently they are the hottest thing now because as soon as I see one advertised or I see one in the lot, when I go the next day to see it it's gone. I have an appointment tonight with a car dealer that is an hour away from the main city, so I am hoping I have a better chance at buying it. I am pre-approved with my credit union for any car, as long as I put 30% down of whatever amount is on the buyers order. If I test drive this car tonight, what can I say to the dealer to get them to hold the car until next Friday ( 9 days) when I get my income tax refund? I already haggled the price on the phone and hung up and they called back and accepted my offer and faxed me the buyers order to send to my bank and they faxed the carfax and dealer records on it. I basically chewed them down $3000 in price, I am going to test drive the car, and won't be able to get the draft from my bank until next Friday and i am afraid they will sell the car. Is there anything I can say to get them to hold it? Like can I offer to write a check as a deposit to hold and I will just bring in the draft that Friday for the whole amount of the car? I was also going to trade in one of my cheap cars that is paid for, so should I say I need to request the title for the trade in so I will need at least 7-9 days to request a copy of the title?? I am bringing in the trade in tonight for them to value while I am test driving the car. I know the car dealer will not be able tof inance me, especially a t the rate my credit union is going to finance me at. I have rebuilt my credit and I am lucky that they have approved me.***This is definately the car and dealer I want to get it from. The car they have has all of the specs and options I wanted, including the color and low mileage. I work in sales so I understand they need to make the sale now, I just do not want them to sell it. I am so serious about the car that I am planning on taking a half day next Friday so I have enough time to drive to the bank to get the draft and drop it off at the dealer to take delivery. My c.u. is not open on weekends which makes it harder for me to do this. I do not want to make t he dealer man since I haggled the price down, so I may just sit and wait until I get the tax return and pray they do not sell it*** more

Resolved Question: Suing a used car dealer- Kind of long but really need advice-Please read?

I bought a 00 Pontiac Grand Am GT 4 door on Sept. 23 of last year. I had about $3000.00 to buy a car and bad credit. Against better judgment I went to a local dealer that advertises all approved. My thinking was if I purchased from the I would have a warranty, build credit and keep some money in the bank. It turns out that the guy who owns the lot also owns the fiance company and warranty company, the all just operate under different name bottom line its a buy here pay here place. I had the car 3 weeks, everything was fine decided to take a trip to see some family in NJ ( I'm in MI), get in to ohio the motor blows in the car. I had AAA so they paid for the tow to repair shop. I called the warranty company went back and forth between them and the repair shop for five days(paying for a hotel this whole time). Finally they decided they will send the repair shop the motor, witch was from a junkyard (I didn't think warranty companies used junkyard motors), they had no idea when it would be there in the next 7 days, no idea how many miles were on it. They also weren't covering about $700 of the job. I wasn't staying in a hotel for another week it would cost me more between the hotel and $700 then to buy a motor and pay for it myself. I ended up paying $1200. I talked to the warranty company about getting reimbursed they laughed and hung up the phone, seriously. I want to know what my changes of wining are in court. Also I have since found out that they pulled the light out of the check engine light, air bag light. Thanks for reading sorry it was so long.I didn't say I spent 3000, I said I had 3000 the car was 6000. I also didn't say I wanted them to pay for the hotel. I know that is not there problem.Maybe I'm not making myself clear... The whole job was 1200 and I paid for the whole thing. They didnt pay a dime. more

Resolved Question: Do I have any rights if my car was falsely advertised with central locking ?

I would have thought I'd have some kind of rights but my worry is iv now had the car for 7months. I didn't think much of the issue when I brought it, maybe just the central locking was not working bt it was not a big deal. I recently contacted a specalist dealer for my car and asked his to sort it out if he could and after speaking to him he advised me it l does not have and has never had central locking. Maybe I left it to long to sort out but I would like to know if I do have any rights in this matter?Just to add this was brought from a local garage and I still have the advert. more

Resolved Question: Help on my landscaping and construction business plan i need answers under each topic please help asap.?

Promotion How will you get the word out to customers? Advertising: What media, why, and how often? Why this mix and not some other? Have you identified low-cost methods to get the most out of your promotional budget? Will you use methods other than paid advertising, such as trade shows, catalogs, dealer incentives, word of mouth (how will you stimulate it?), and network of friends or professionals? Should you have a system to identify repeat customers and then systematically contact them? How much will you spend on the items listed above? Where will this money come from? Image What image do you want to project? How do you want customers to see you? What plans do you have for graphic image support? This includes things like logo design, cards and letterhead, brochures, signage, and interior design (if customers come to your place of business). Pricing Explain your method or methods of setting prices. Compare your prices with those of the competition. Are they higher, lower, the same? Why? For most small businesses, having the lowest price might take away from profit margin; large competitors can under price you anyway. Will you have average prices and compete on quality and service? Does your pricing strategy fit with what was revealed in your competitive analysis? How important is price as a competitive factor? Do your intended customers really make their purchase decisions mostly on price? Proposed Location Is your location important to your customers? If yes, how? If customers come to your place of business: Is it convenient? Parking? Interior spaces? Not out of the way? Is it consistent with your image? Is it what customers want and expect? Where is the competition located? Is it better for you to be near them (like car dealers or fast food restaurants) or distant (like convenience food stores)? What qualities do you need in a location? Describe the type of location you’ll have. Physical requirements: • Amount of space • Type of building • Zoning • Power and other utilities Access: Is it important that your location be convenient to transportation or to suppliers? Do you need easy walk-in access? What are your requirements for parking and proximity to freeway, airports, railroads, and shipping centers? Include a drawing or layout of your proposed facility if it is important, as it might be for a manufacturer. Construction? Most new companies should not sink capital into construction, but if you are planning to build, costs and specifications will be a big part of your plan. Cost: Estimate your occupation expenses, including rent, but also including maintenance, utilities, insurance, and initial remodeling costs to make the space suit your needs. What will be your business hours? Distribution Channels How do you sell your products or services? • Retail • Direct (mail order, Web, catalog) • Wholesale • Your own sales force • Agents • Independent representatives • Bid on contracts ......I need answers for these in your opinion for a business plan for a landscaping and construction company please help more

Voting Question: Considering opening a gym.?

I live in Warren, MI. Lots of fat people here, so not sure if anyone will join, but I would think that if there were more smaller neighborhood gyms that there may be a market. There used to be a World's Gym near my house that did very well, until a car dealer bought it and tore it down to build yet another parking lot for cars that don't sell. The old gym was torn down about two years ago. I am looking at a corner building across from a 7-11 on a main road near bus stops, flower shops, etc. The building is listed for 175k but the Flower shop owner thinks I can probably get it for under 100k. I've yet to perform full due diligence, so I really do not have info on set costs such as water, heat, insurance, taxes, etc. Any gym owners, former gym owners out there with any advise? The economy around here is sour, but I think I may be seeing a niche. The only other gyms around here are located at a community center 5 miles away and there is an LA Fitness 3 miles away and a Ballys 3 miles away. I'm looking at something small; more of a nighborhood gym like you might see in a boximg movie like Rocky...not a big fancy "where all the beautiful people go" meet market., Three treadmills, a couple Nautalis machines and mostly free wights. I would hope to make most of my money from selling supplements, vitamins, creatine, etc. PROS: would replace niche vacated by previous gym that was torn down high traffic area public parking building might be affordable and easy to convert into a gym very close to where I live, wouldn't even have to drive there have some gym equipment already and experience with sales and how gym memberships work CONS: In a poorer area- higher crime area Unsure of potential clientel Only ran a lawn service before, never ran a brick-n-mortal business (no retail experience) People around here would rather have a fried chicken then a sweaty workout (can that be changed?) Unsure of capital costs for commercial gym equipment. Another thought I had was to negotiate with a local hotel to advertise and sell memberships to their hotel gym to people who live in the area-- I can sell and keep track of members and maintain the gym area, but it will still be open to their guests for free.... Any thoughts or suggestions? more

Resolved Question: What is an excessive PACK charge when buying a car.?

i bought my first car a few months back. sticker said 3,995, triad in was 2,200, witch left my unpaid balance at 1,795. they charged all the normal fees, but there is a pack fee of 1,598. so after 26% financing i owed 4,209.07 this is what i found a pack to be- Packs - Dealers take the total of their advertising budget, utility bills, and insurance payments, divide it by the number of cars sold in the previous year, and come up with a per-vehicle overhead charge that is "packed" or added into the price of every vehicle. Packs range from $300 to $500 per vehicle (depending on the market) and are generally non-negotiable just like dealer holdback payments. Some dealers only charge for advertising, or split up the overhead in different ways. It doesn't really matter how they do, you'll end up paying for it either way. So is that excessive, and can i do anything about it?i did not get a warranty, LoJack, etc more

Resolved Question: So I'm thinking about buying a 2000 Hyundai Elantra GLS sedan. I need advice!!?

The dealer says the car has approx 166,331 miles , 4 door and some minor body dents. He's says he will let it go for $800 even tho the advertised price is $995. Should I be suspicious? Resolved Question: Shady car dealer or not?

One week ago I purchased a car from an auto dealer 3 hours away from me. I drove to the dealership to drive the car and have it inspected. The dealership and I agreed on a price. I am paying in cash and needed to move some money around, so they took $500 from me to hold the car and asked me to write a check for the remainder of what I owe on it, and then as soon as I receive the money that's getting moved around I will call them to drop the check and the deal will be done and I will then pick up the car. Here's the thing that's bugging me.....I found the car on the internet. I found it on a popular car website and it was also on the dealership's website. Even though I have supposedly purchased this car and signed all the paperwork, why are they still advertising it? I had a friend of mine email the dealership under her name and ask if the car was still available, and they told her it was. They even offered to let her test drive it. And this is all after I have supposedly bought it. Now I understand that they do not actually have the money in their hands yet; they only have $500 down from me. But the sales guy told me that would take it off the market. I actually understand their point of view if they want to wait to have all the money in their hands; what I DO NOT like is being bulls***ed and told that the car is off the market when they are still marketing it. Is this shady,or is this something all auto dealers do? I did extensive research on this dealership, and they are pretty reputable. This is not some bad neighborhood, buy here-pay here type of place.LOL! Just read first response. Didn't know that; this is the reason I posted on Yahoo Answers. Okay, good. Sounds reassuring. P.S. Haven't smoked weed in 15 years. It's age and bad experiences that make me paranoid, not drugs! LOL :) more

Resolved Question: Dealer sold me a Certified preowned civic, 150 point inspection. clear car fax.?

We bought a certified 150 point inspection civic from a honda dealer. Though they did not disclose prior front end frame damage. I purchased the care in January and was trying to sell it to qualify for a home loan. Though I came to find out that everybody who appraised it immediately told me the car had been in an accident and was repaired. The last place I took it was back to dealership where I bought it and had it appraised. First thing he says "oh that car has been in an accident" they wanted to give me less than any other place. So I asked him if was normal policy to sell cars that had been repaired and not disclose that information. So the guy back peddled and told me "oh it wouldn't make a huge difference, it's not that big of a deal. Maybe it just had been scratched and repainted" What are my rights? They advertise up and down how they are a respected dealership and have won awards. But this seems like shady business to me.To the guy who mentioned contacting the head of the pre-owned certification dept. That is a great idea. And thank you To the sly guy in the "auto" business. You are correct. I did not get it inspected. It's not so much me trying to burden others with my financial situation, but more of an ethics issue, a moral issue. An issue of running an honest business. When you buy an apple. Do you pay to have that apple professionally inspected for poison or razor blades? no. I'm going to take a wild guess and assume that you probably trust your local grocery store to sell you apples free of poison and razor blades. And if by chance you did bite into a razor blade filled apple and cut your lip off, I would be courteous enough to not say to you"what so your lip fell off? maybe you should have had it inspected. Or are you trying to blame your health problems on others?" chew on that. thank you and goodnight more

Voting Question: can car dealers charge more if you pay cash for a car than if you finance?

I am looking to buy a certified used car for about 15,000. Every dealer I go to says that the car will cost about $1000.00 more than the advertised price if I pay cash. They seem to force you to finance even if you don't want to . Small writing everywhere says price is only good if you finance 80% through dealer. This might be legal but it just is not right more

Resolved Question: How can I negotiate a lower price on a used car being sold by a dealer, (not a private seller)?

I want to buy a used compact car and spend between $7,500 - $9,500. I've seen several cars advertised online by dealers and private sellers that come close to meeting my criteria, but I would prefer to buy from a reputable dealer (like Carmax or similar) that does a 100+ point mechanical/safety inspection. I know that dealers price cars above the Blue Book value to make a profit. So how can I negotiate the price down closer to my preferred minimum price of $7,500? Also, can anyone recommend online references/resources that provide advice on how to negotiate effectively with auto dealers, for either used or new cars? Resolved Question: Pony cars coming to Nascar?

On Saturday when a NASCAR official spoke of the new NNS COTs, he beamed. It had been a long time since someone from the sanctioning body's side of the sport was genuinely enthusiastic about the styling of a car. And when he mentioned "Mustang," my ears perked. A Mustang? A true American sports car for NASCAR competition? And a Challenger, too? I must be dreaming. "Ten-fold better than a Cup car," the official said of the designs, which must be submitted for approval by June 26 according to the NASCAR Rule Book. The new cars are expected to be closer to stock than any vehicle that the sanctioning body has run in the top two series since the dreaded term "aero-matching" rolled off spin-doctor tongues in 2000. Despite opposition to a common template platform from both General Motors and Ford, NASCAR turned the Sprint Cup division into a high-dollar IROC Series where all the cars were similar — and the fans turned away. Field managers warned league principals that loss of brand identification would be detrimental not only to the manufacturers, but to the sport itself. Manufacturers reportedly poured more than a half-billion dollars into the sport last year through factory and technical support to the teams, track support, vehicle programs and advertising. Yet NASCAR turned its back on Detroit with each generation of its race car as it morphed further away from what was on the showroom floor. Yes, the new Sprint Cup car has proved to be safer. After the initial blow of scrapping entire fleets of the old car, the new model will be more cost efficient. The level of competition with the new car — at tracks other than intermediate and two-mile venues — has picked up considerably. But the majority of core NASCAR fans have never embraced this car. The evidence of their displeasure can be measured in the dramatic drop in attendance, souvenir sales and television ratings, all of which started long before the economy tanked. Now NASCAR is feeling a similar pain in its pocketbook. And the sanctioning body is responding by offering an olive branch in the form of a sleeker, sexy race car to entice the fans back to the stands. A car that hopefully will revive the "Win on Sunday, buy on Monday" mentality of fans so automakers and sponsors can continue to enjoy a return on investment in the sport. Rather than admitting their mistake in the Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR will begin filtering elements of the Nationwide cars back to the Cup model. The cockpit is expected to remain the same to maintain the integrity of the safer vehicle but the car will take on a sportier appearance. Currently, only Ford and Dodge will compete with models that differ from Cup. Despite Chevrolet rolling out the new Camaro to dealers, there doesn't seem to be an urgency to promote that brand or the Malibu in NASCAR other than for pace cars at this time. Toyota has discontinued its two-door Solara, so expect the Camry nameplate in NNS. The days when racers bought cars from the showroom floor, made a few modifications and were ready to race are over. But developing a car that appeals to both fans and manufacturers is a step in the right direction. more

Resolved Question: What to do when a car dealer refuses to honor an advertised Internet special for a used car?

We put $100 down to buy a used Prius from a Toyota dealer. They told us the price was about $23,000, but we recalled seeing a different price. We went home and printed the Internet special we had seen, for about $16,800, and asked for that price. They said they would honor the Internet price. They also said there is a problem with the title of the car, and have not made the car available. It has been almost three weeks, as we put the money down on Aug. 15. Today, Sept. 3, 2009, we looked at the site and saw the car is advertised at about $21,000. The salesperson keeps returning our calls and promising the car would be ours at the Internet price, but he never keeps his promises to get back to us with an estimated time frame. Resolved Question: how can a car dealer mark up a car over the sticker price?

i went to a car dealership to buy a car at the sticker price. Once I said I would say I agree to buy it, they marked the car up $7000.00 more on the sticker price. How can a car dealer do this? Isn't this false advertising? more

Resolved Question: Help with online insurance companies?

I’m looking to purchase a car in the near future, in fact I’m going to look at some this weekend. Background info, I live in Massachusetts, this is my first car I’m buying, but I’ve had a license for eight years, and a clean record. In my state (as I believe in all others, though I cannot say for sure), I cannot drive a car if it is uninsured, and I cannot register a car I would buy until it’s insured. I believe the following to be true, and if it’s not, please let me know. In my state, after purchasing a car from a dealer, I will get a filled application from the dealer for registration and title. After getting this application, I need to insure the car, and bring it to a state licensed insurance agent, so that they can stamp and sign said application. Then I can go to the registry and get the car registered/title transferred, and get the plates, so that I can return to the car, change the plates, and drive said car away. I will of course need the previous owner’s title, or a certificate of origin to finish the transaction to transfer the title, and register the car. After which I’ll need to pass inspection. Then I’ll be in the clear. Now my question is, if I try one of the various online companies that advertise on the internet, such as Esurance, Progressive, Allstate, Geico, etc, how could they come and stamp/sign the application? Does an agent come to my house, do I go to a local branch or office, or would I be better off getting this done with a local insurance company, and just switching over to a different insurance company after I get the car? Priority is of course getting the car registered so that I can drive it, and thus, insured so it can be registered and the title transferred. My ability to keep my job is at stake right now, as my previous ride is no longer an option. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. more

Resolved Question: I bought a car, the person who i bought it off said it had not been in an accident, but it has Help!?

I bought a car two days ago. I paid £7000 for the car. The person who I bought it off, told me it had NOT been in any accidents or anything. I asked him a few times. He sells cars from his home, I went to a dealership today to have my car checked, and they told me it has been in an accident. In fact it was written off completely, It was a Category C Extensive damage, Which means it was totally destroyed and the worst damage possible. This now means the car is not safe for my family to be driven around in, and is worth around £2000 even if that. I told the seller, I want my money back, He has refused to do so. Is there any action I can take?? £7000 is a lot of money for me and that's years of saving. The check showed that in the last 2 years it has been HPI checked a lot over 10 times, and he was aware of the fact it had been involved in accident. Please Help :( :( I live in the UK England. I bought the car of Auto trader. A website and book that people can advertise their cars on. When he placed the advert he did not mention anything about the car being damaged. On the advert just says the car is in good condition and a quick sell, and few basic car details that's about it. Nothing about salvage or anything. Also the dealers are the ones who told me how many times the car has been checked, and told me the dates and by who (motor trade or auction or independent person). I was wondering, how I can find out the dates and by who. So I can prove he knew it was write-off, because during the time he owned it, it was checked. The dealership did not give me this paper as they are not allowed. But I paid £20 for a check, and it confirmed what they said. But doesn't say how many times its been checked and the dates. How can I find out? Please help on any of the questions. more

Voting Question: Why is Saturn still advertising cash for clunkers on national TV?

When will the Obama administration get it together on this program? The national car dealers association has done a survey of car dealers and the 3 billion is gone. When will Washington & government motors figure it out? And when will the dealers get their money?http://www.just-auto.com/article.aspx?id=100775 more

Resolved Question: Is there a safe way to remove a dealer decal from a new car?

I just got a car that has one of those "very nice" (seriously) dealer decals and I want to remove it without doing any damage to the car. It is the kind where it looks like each individual letter was painted onto the car, but I know it's a sticker of some kind. I want to take it off because: 1. I just don't like those things. 2. I don't feel it is up to me to advertise for the dealer. 3. It's just crooked enough that it bothers me. 4. I am going to get a sealant put on the car and I want the letters gone before I get that done. If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate hearing them. Please also tell me if you have actually done this yourself or if it's just something you heard about somewhere.2009 Subaru Legacy 3.0R http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/tags/legacy/Perki, this car was a demo and so the decal was already in place when I bought it. Since the 2010's are out, I drove one of them, but I like the 2009 better. Since the 2009's are disappearing, I was satisfied to take a demo. It saved me over $5K off the sticker, too. :-) more

Voting Question: What does this mean in simple English, do I have a case, and what do I do. Answer all three parts please?

Wisconsin Statute 100.18(10m) It is deceptive or misleading advertising for a person who sells new motor vehicles to compare new motor vehicle selling prices, including the offered prices or the actual sale prices, to the manufacturer's suggested retail price for that vehicle unless it is clearly and conspicuously disclosed that the latter price is a manufacturer's suggested retail price and may not represent actual sale prices. I believe I can you this statute but I'm not sure what it actually means. Basically I saw a car advertisement for $15,736 and the MSRP is $19,875 but no where in the add did it state the MSRP. In fact I did not know the MSRP until I called the dealer. Do I have a case and what do I do?Oh by the way the price in the add is after a bunch of rebates and discounts it turns out. No rebates, discounts, or MSRP is in the add though just that price. Does that change anything? more

Resolved Question: IF A CAR DEALER ADVERTISES A NEW CAR ONLINE FOR A SPECIFIC PRICE, DO THEY HAVE TO HONOR THAT PRICE?

A local honda dealer had a 2009 honda civic advertised on their website for $195....yes, i said $195. I printed out the website details, pics of the car, and all details. My question is, by law, does this dealer have to honor that price??? I know someone made a mistake, but it was posted on their website!!! Thats how i found it!! more

Resolved Question: What is the basic pay rate for a car dealer employee at entry level?

Postion responsibilities...office manager trainee, completing all forms for registration transfers, taking all paper work to dmv and pay fees to complete transaction, advertising, financing (in house) as well as working with outside finance companies... etc. etc. What is the basic pay rate of one person holding all these responsibilities at entry level as well as after the review period. more

Voting Question: Problem, buying a Used Car in California.?

I've been in the market for the past few days looking for a used car (2005-2007 year models). And I do most of my research online first, before I go to the dealers (not private parties). I came across a very good deal at an Authorized Auto Dealer, also selling used vehicles, for a 2007 model with very low miles and only one previous owner, for approx $10,300. While the same specs car has been valued at over $14000 at Kelly Blue Book, and other dealers also have a similar car for over $12000. So I immediately took a printout of this offer to the dealer. But when I went there, they said the car was at their 'Detailing Center' and that I can check it after it comes back. But since it was such a good deal, I was willing to buy it even without looking at it. So the dealer asked me to give them a check of $1000 as a 'holding amount', meaning that they would not sell the car to anyone else and would contact me as soon as it gets back from their detailing. They in fact gave me a letter, with a copy of my check and a handwritten statement by the manager that the car would not be sold to anyone else. Now it has been over a week since that, and when ever I call them, they still say it hasn't returned from 'Detailing' (my check also hasn't been cashed yet). What I need to know is, why is the detailing process taking so long? Or have they realized, how low their price was and are somehow trying to sell it at a higher price to others? Was it a 'hook & bait' scheme where they advertise a low price and then sell it for a higher price? Is it illegal, what ever they are doing? And what can I do to make sure I get the car at the online advertised price? Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Have we finally found a workable idea for "Healthcare Reform"?

Strangely enough.... as poorly thought out and implemented as the Cash for Clunkers program is it actually is a very good concept for healthcare "reform". This program sets aside a pool of money. American citizens can choose to use this money or not. They can use this money to buy a car of their choice, as long as it meets certain standards. There is very little government interference in the choice of the consumer or the choice of the automobile dealer. The consumer can buy the car they want...the dealer is free to advertise its merchandise and to offer additional incentives. Apply this concept to healthcare, but rather than create a pool of money from other people's taxes the government can offer tax credits to individuals to pay for insurance. You can get the insurance that you want from the provider you want. The government will then offer up to "X" amount annually in tax credits to pay for it. This will modify your deductions on your W4 so you keep the money in each paycheck. It never goes to the government and thereby you do not need to apply for a refund to benefit from it. To be eligible you need to be enrolled all year...any partial year enrollments are credited on a pro rated basis. American citizens can choose their providers....companies are free to compete for new business and will likely see a rise in enrollments (driving down prices) as a result. Of course we will still need to take additional steps to reduce the actual COST of healthcare (tort reform, reduced regulatory costs) but isn't this is a great start?zaza - I voted for McCain albeit reluctantly. I was more inclined towards Mitt Romney the former Governor of my State. more

Resolved Question: Is "Cash for Clunkers" a good model for "Heathcare Reform"?

I was using the model as an example. In the healthcare implementation people would keep their OWN money to pay for their insurance. The principle is that the government allocate the money to be spent in the free market (as ironic as it is to allocate a person their own money)ej - It really didn't fail. It was just overwhelmed and may run out of money. This was a failure of planning and implementation (an Obama Administration trademark) The healthacre wouldn't run out of money because it just allows people to keep their own money to be spent on their own needs. Resolved Question: Why do the democrats want to hurt the car dealers?

The car dealers are in bad shape. The democrats started the cash for clunkers program supposedly to help them. They gave them just enough time to sink big bucks in advertising and pulled the program. Are the car dealers not worse off? Could they afford the waste of advertising dollars on a program the government promised and did not fully deliver when times are so bad?http://finance.yahoo.com/news/AP-sources-Govt-to-suspend-apf-3529110957.html?x=0&sec=topStories&pos=1&asset=&ccode= more

Resolved Question: Anyone familiar with the Lemon Law?

Hi, I live in New York and bought a new Kia Sedona (Demo with 1200 miles on it) in March of 2008. Starting last July, the moonroof leaked and the car got soaked on the inside. We thought it was just a passing this but everytime it rained the same thing happened. The dealer said there were cobwebs in the line and that's what was causing it. Eight weeks later the same thing happened and it had to go in again. We were assured that this would be it and it would be fixed. In May of this year it went in again for that and an oxygen sensor and now here we are less than two months later and it's still leaking and the airbag light is coming on. I am ready to drive this car off a cliff! My used car was never in the shop this much and my last new one was in once in 10years. I want to know what my rights are. The law is so lengthy and confusing that I stopped reading it. It also has alot of advertising for lawyers which I really don't want to get into but I feel that I should get some kind of compensation or a new car!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. more
