Open Question: Should I try to come up with the money and pay her back, or take it to court?
Yesterday, I sold my old jeep to a young lady and her father. They had driven the car 3 times before deciding to buy it, and her husband and father inspected the vehicle and said it was good. They checked everything-the tires, motor, transmission, and after driving it, her father said it was a good car. Today, the girl called me, very angry and said that she wanted her money back, because the car wouldn't start, and the windows wouldn't roll up. Now, I was surprised because as I had told her before, the car had worked for me absolutely every time I used it. And the windows were working. She said it was false advertising, and her husband threatened to sue me. Now, from the people I've talked to, I know that once the deal is done, it's over. I signed the title over, they gave me the money, and that was that. The car was working just fine while I had it. So what should I do now? I will be speaking to an attorney tomorrow but I want to have an idea or at least a few opinions on what to do. I don't even have the money anymore, I used it for college. I feel kinda helpless. Any ideas? moreOpen Question: Ideas for bikini car wash?
Okay so tomorrow we are having a bikini car wash. I have made posters and advertised in the newspaper for this. I just think we need more ideas to attract more people. I know it's like 20 girls but i dont think that will attract a lot of attention lol...any ideas? Please serious answers unlike the first one. moreOpen Question: I need some advice please?
I have 5 great working automobiles in very good condition. But I have limited room for these and unfortunately I must sale one. I've had one of these cars advertised for about 6 months now....I'm only asking $900 dollars for it. But nobody wants to buy it. So, my friend had this idea of just pawning the title to the car to a title pawn place for about $800 dollars and let them just have the vehicle. Is this a good idea? Would this affect my credit score in any way? moreOpen Question: Trigonometry word problems?

I don't know how to follow a schedule. I don't know how to handle responsibility. I don't know how to manage time or make commitments (other than in relationships). But I wouldn't call myself lazy or unintelligent. For example, I missed over 100 days of high school and almost did not graduate, but when I skipped I would often times read. I love classic literature and I love to analyze things. Then, when I got a car, I'd go exploring and try to learn about different cultures within our city. It's the same way with work. I am always late. Sometimes I do not go. Honestly, it's not the work I mind. I feel like I am one of the hardest workers when I'm there. But I hate having to follow a schedule, and I hate having a boss (I don't just dislike it like a lot of people. I mean, I really cannot deal with it.). If I could come and go as I pleased and have the freedom to make changes when I was there, not only would my work excel, I know the business would excel because I have so many ideas I want to carry out. That is what wears me out most: my imagination. I don't normally enjoy bragging, but for the sake of this post, I would have to say I've met few people would were as creative as me. I feel like there is never enough paper to write my dreams on, never enough Google searches I can do, etc. Many people have told me that I'd make a great entrepreneur. I'm obviously highly independent, so the risk/freedom wouldn't scare me. Also, I may seem to have a lack of motivation in some areas of life, but when I do decide to do something, I DO IT. I am the most stubborn person, but it helps me accomplish my goals. My biggest passions are new experiences, innovation, and people. I would truly care about my customers and what they wanted/needed. Thing is, I know I need formal education, more finances, and more experience before I can make my dream come true. And I don't know how to do those things because to do them, you have to be able to function in society and I cannot. I actually love people. I'm very sensitive/inuitive and feel like I understand people very well in most situations. But I CANNOT work with them. Also, when I have managed to follow a schedule for A WHILE, I feel extremely confined, like I am literally locked in a cage, and become severely depressed. I don't know what to do! What is wrong with me?! Please help! By the way, I'm 18 and going away to college in the fall as a strategic communication (writing/design for advertising) major. moreOpen Question: What is the actual mileage (in kmpl) of the new Maruti WagonR - "the blue-eyed boy"?
Maruti advertises it as having mileage of 18.9, but while buying, I was told that it would only give a mileage of around 10 as it is a new car. Will its mileage become better with time? Also, how much time will it actually take to give a better mileage if it does so?By the way, its a VXi model... moreResolved Question: I am looking at a used car (2007) My question is how low can I start....?

If you could give me any insights into bidding I sure would appreciate it.....I meant to say $12,000 moreResolved Question: Why are people against smoking Marijuana?
I myself have smoked before, however I have not touched weed in about 6 months give or take. When I smoked I would go from a week long binge to having a dry spell for a couple of weeks. I smoked for a total of about 2 years and I never had any issues with my responsibilities, like school for example. I actually kept a 3.6 GPA and I never tried any other drugs except drinking. So, personally I find no issues with marijuana unlike what many people will tell you (It makes you stupid. It leads to harder drugs. It takes over your life. It's addictive.). Now I will rant. Ok, so I know it's addictive. I'm not going to deny that. However, it's certainly less addictive than something like cocaine or even caffeine. And yes, caffeine will cause withdrawal symptoms not unlike nicotine withdrawal. While marijuana can cause psychological dependence, marijuana does NOT have any physical withdrawal symptoms. I had absolutely no issue when I quit, and I only wanted to smoke for about the first week. After the first week I have no longer felt any desire to smoke up, except for the fact that I occasionally just want to wind down and enjoy myself on a joint. Now, the government has a completely legalized industry for alcohol, which by the way messes you up MUCH more than marijuana. And I know that you people who have never tried marijuana often find this very difficult to believe, but just ask your self this. Have you ever seen somebody get so high that they were too dizzy to stand up and walk straight? Have you ever seen somebody smoke up and then puke their guts out all night from weed poisoning? No and no. marijuana will simply chill somebody out or get their heart racing. It depends on the strain, but in either case, nobody is overdosing or seeing double. That's saved for the completely legal alcoholic drinks that are advertised all over the television. Also, marijuana has never killed anyone. And I mean anyone. Of course, you can say that people will get into their cars and crash, but have you ever thought of how people get into their cars and crash all of the time, while they're completely sober? Besides, there are studies that have shown marijuana usually makes somebody a more cautious driver and getting high is equal to about a .05 BAC (.08 is the legal limit for alcohol). Now, I'm sure that some mom is going to come on here and talk about how because of weed their kid does heroin or whatever. I don't know how this myth got started, but I believe the number is something like only 1 out of every 30-40 people who have tried marijuana will go on to use any other illegal substance. And from my own experience, the only people who actually went on to use heroin or coke actually talked about that BEFORE they ever tried marijuana. No joke. Most people understand the consequences of hard drugs and see what it can do to a person's life, and so they stay away. It's that simple. I think that my favorite myth is that marijuana makes you stupid. Right. How about you go tell that to my formerly A.P. student friends (now off to college) which would get SAT scores up in the 2000s. Yea if that isn't proof enough right there, here's something else for you. Marijuana has not been proven to kill any brain cells. In fact, studies have shown that it actually STIMULATES brain cell growth. I **** you not. It only takes a quick Google search. Now when people say that marjuana will take over your life, I believe that they must be referring to the far and in between cases where people actually did let marijuana take over their life. What those same people don't realize though is that they probably know loads of people that smoke weed, or have smoked weed, but that never let it take over their life. The thing is though is that you will never hear about it because that's just not something you would talk about with a co-worker or a neighbor. Most functioning people can handle smoking a little bit of marijuana once in a while, the SAME WAY people can have a beer or a glass of wine every once in a while. Now, my final point, which is probably my most important is, what has a marijuana user ever done to you? Nothing, that's what. And it's because somebody who smokes weed is not going to need it like somebody who snorts coke. It's just not in any way addictive like that. Nobody is going to mug somebody else because they're killing for a nickle ($5 dollars worth of weed). However, you probably could get mugged by somebody because they need their fix of crack. In my eyes, people who reject marijuana users are just plain tools that they think they have a duty to protect a society that knows more than them. If you people want my advice, go educate yourself and stop letting yourself be influenced by all of that propaganda you thought was the truth. You really said health concerns? Really? Obviously completely ignored my post. And yea I'm sure it way to painful for you to try and read something about a plant that is in the process of getting LEGALIZED. Prick.Oh and I don't care if you don't feel like reading my super-post just so long as you don't say something as stupid as "health concerns?"to Kris, I don't know what that guy was smoking, but it wasn't weed, I can tell you that. Not even mushies would made you suddenly come down to find yourself surrounded by guns. Sounds more like he was smoking some wet, which is weed dipped in PCP. moreVoting Question: what companies will pay you to advertise on your car?

We don`t pretend we get things done becasue we are not against everything. Just ask Joe the conservative. Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised. All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry. In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a conributor. Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune. It is noon time and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression. Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that his in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university. Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the tax-payer funded roads. He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification. He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to. Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like. I have." _____________________________________ This story was provided by user "middleclassman". moreResolved Question: Liberals, what do you think of this story?

Did I get swindled?
Under a week ago I paid $1700 cash for a 199 vw golf that was advertised as being 149 xxx km with no accidents. We purchased the car, and THEN carfaxed it (I know, stupid me) and turns out it was totaled in 2004, and is now classified as 'rebuilt'. So hat was my fault, I figured I should just suck it up. But now, I was sorting through the papers again and I found another document wedged in the aircare pamphlet. It's the previous owners transfer form! It says it has 200 000 km on it... And it was signed by both parties. So... I have this government transfer form now that says this golf has 149xxx km (lie) no damage over $2k (lie). I haven't transferred the car to my name yet, and it's been under a week since I paid for it. Anyone have any idea what kind of legal rights I have here? moreVoting Question: Name of Insurance Commercial where dad in invisible car crashes?
I am looking for the insurance commercial where the dad crashes in an invisible car. It takes place in his livingroom, and you see all of the motions like he is in a car. I wanted to share this with my advertising class. I saw it once and was deeply touched, and in hopes that I would see it again I would then get all the information to share it. Needless to say I haven't seen it again. Has anyone else seen it or know what I am talking about? moreVoting Question: Car bass caused analog odometer to roll back 20K miles...?
Is this bad? The car had 90,000K and now it rolled back to 70,000K because of my bass system. It is kind of funny that this happened but is this bad if I go and sell the vehicle? Should I just advertise for the correct mileage. moreOpen Question: What UK television advert do you hate the most?
Two issues. For most of us I guess its got to be that horrible annoying "Go Compare" advert I mean its been going on since last August as if Go Compare haven't got the message that no one likes it. I also hate the "We buy any car advert" its just so annoying! I turn off the sound when either them comes on. I wish those two were banned ASAP! Secondly on my day off I watched daytime TV and lost count of the number of adverts advertising funerals and what to do when you die etc as well as umpteen insurance adverts. I mean do TV adverts have to be so down right miserable? Why can't we have cheerful adverts like the Coca Cola advert or fun adverts, does annoyone remember the 'carling label' advert in the 1980s with the cowboys in the supermarket? Why have adverts got to be either so miserable or annoying. Any ideas? Personally I can't stand the TV adverts of today.I agree with @Vix Sheilas wheels is horrible, but some how the "lets face music and dance, life insurance" did not seem as miserable as the afternoon death adverts people have forced on them. Maybe back in the 1990s we did not have so many miserable ads! moreResolved Question: How much is the New Concept BMW Car advertised (video) on www.topbuysell.com ?

FYI: I live in India. Please Note: I am neither Racist nor Casteist. But I am person with several genuine problems and absolute bewilderment. I am website designer, and I have extremely good communication skills. I rate myself as a very good at civic sense and social manner awareness. I am trying to run my small family (4, including myself) with the earnings out of my shoestring business. I am always polite to my clients, I make sure they are comfortable with every technical aspect of their website, I make sure the site is Standards Compliant for the client's sake, despite them not even knowing what W3C Standards are. I try to keep my prices as comfortable as possible, and relatively low. Yes, I am somewhat more expensive than the general market, but the cost of having an unruly, brutal joke of a messy website "design" is more than the price of owning a good website. Also, I never spit on the road, refuse to relieve myself on the pavements like so many other people do despite desperate urgency, always say "excuse me" before I do anything remotely assertive. I respect women, pay my taxes on time. Despite all this, I barely manage to scrape by, financially speaking. I am usually at the mercy of my landlord, and begging all the people I owe money to, to wait "just a few more days". Then, I get a small respite in the form of a new client or two, and I am forced to spend all the money on my commitments. This basically leaves no chance for me to improve upon my life, or the conditions therein. I am always stuck in this vicious cycle of debt and repayment. Add to my woes is the fact that we as a family have no source of support from our relatives, and hence zero investment capability; I can't even afford to advertise my services in the local newspaper classifieds. I am forced to rely on the poorly maintained and extremely unreliable public transport system, since I don't have a vehicle. Yet, I do try to work hard, against all odds. CONTRAST THIS WITH THE FOLLOWING: All I have to do is to take a short walk onto the main road, and I see multiple swanky cars on the road. In a majority of these expensive vehicles, there are people who are unruly, wear arrogant looks on their faces, and drive like shit. A lot of them don't look educated (you can tell the difference, though it sounds preposterous). They don't hesitate to pull down the window and spit copious paan onto the roads. They don't hesitate to open up their fly and start spewing on to the footpath, even in the presence of women on the road. They wear large chunky jewellery on their sweaty unhygienic bodies (trying to demonstrate their wealth), but display the social sense of a bacterium. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! How is this happening? Will I ever succeed in life? Will I ever overtake these creatures? And pray tell me HOW _SO MANY_ of them are ending up so RICH! This is not a rare phenomenon anymore... so my curiosity... moreVoting Question: Why do web-sites mis-represent themselves?
Has anyone else noticed how often that web-sites say "Free to Join", when the truth is the following: The only thing which is "free", about these sites, is to register. How many people have noticed that, even when a web-site has a page, which, clearly states that "Your credit card information will ONLY be used for age verification". "You will NOT be billed for this visit" Yet, when you check credit/debit card statement, you find that you HAVE been billed, from $30.00, to $100.00, by the web-site. Is it not openly deceitful, for web-sites to promote "free access", when access is not "free" at all? Shouldn't web-sites be required to change advertising to say "Visit/Tour is "free", but access will cost (how much). Shouldn't Age Verification be changed into the more truthful: "Your credit/debit card WILL be billed this amount for your visit, today"? Why do/are so many web-sites so openly in-correct, or un-truthful, about access fee's. Why do web-sites offer "free access" when, from the moment that users begin signing up, credit/debit cards ARE, immediately, billed, for this "free access"? When makes this type of mis-representation any different than a local car dealer, who promises that "This car is a gem", yet it breaks down before the new owner arrives home, and has to pay towing charges? Any suggestions? moreResolved Question: Painless solution to the economic crisis?
David Cameron says there are tough times ahead, well here's how we cut the pain! We all know the economy and Country is hemorrhaging to death as a result of benefits fraud, a by product of New Labours incompetence. Here is the solution to eliminate fraud AND fund better social services AND get the Country back on it's feet in one simple, inexpensive programme. Most people know a benefits cheat working whilst claiming, fit to work but idle, driving round in a car at the tax payers expense or professionals who know the system and its loopholes, and use them to deprive the elderly, sick and genuine needy of the support they deserve. Lets have a Government sponsored "Fix the frauds" campaign, Nationally advertised, with email addresses and telephones to confidential expose the crooks. We do not need public sector employees, cut the wage bill, we can do it for the benefit of the sick, needy, homeless, lonely and those in distress. Give a bounty of £100 for each successful prosecution. Everyone is a winner, the Country gets back on its feet, and social services get the funding to deliver to the taxpayer great value for money. What do you think? The Electorate-the evidence on which to prosecute comes from the Government investigators acting on information. You keep your kneecaps, they get nicked! Its a red 1998 Acura Integra LS. Its a 2-Door Coupe with 121,000 miles on it. Kelly Blue Book says its private party value in fair condition is $2,735 but I think the price is too high for the things that are wrong with it. The rear fender has a dent in it from someone backing into it. The front bumper also has some paint chipped on it from someone backing into it. The drivers side seat does not move forward or back without going under the seat to adjust it. What is a reasonable price I can sell my car for? I was thinking to advertise it for $2000 and see what I can get for it? Is that too high or too low? What do you think? That is what my friend said too. I am talking about the majority of people not all. I have done a research project on this subject in college because this is a huge issue. Television is ran by 6 major companies. They will not allow anything to show on television without there approval. They are the face of what educates peoples minds and imaginations. T.V shows such as DR. Phill, Tyra Banks all away to Family Guy and all that other bull shit shows only breed future pedophiles, child molesters, criminals and depressed individuals in the future (not all). They show kids wearing make up and mini skirts, kids cussing and talking about sex, advertising speeding on a fast car when its illegal, majority of the shows on television is white people, all the black people shows make them look like bad people, almost every girl is almost naked, ect... List goes on and on. I wonder why some of you people take television too far like its reality when in fact its not and its only hurting your imagination and thought process. I would like to hear from you. When I say breeding future pedo's it may sound far fetched to the average joe, but when you train a kids eyes and mind from a child to an adult its hard to teach them out of it. You can see many criminals that get locked up say there role models were people on movies (scare face, ect) or there favorite game was call of duty, or pedo's saying they cant resist the way kids are because maybe that pedo never grew up. Your not a pedo if your the same age as that person..I knew I would come across some ignorant people on here. People with ignorant answers are the victims to this as well. I recently switched insurance providers, and got my proof of insurance info in the mail today. Along with my card and everything I got a bumper sticker that has nothing but the company's name on it. A note was attached that said I have to put it on my car as a proof of payment. I'd really rather not turn my car into a billboard if I don't have to. To explain my question, in the UK there's rules to product placement in TV. For example a character in 'EastEnders' couldn't guzzle a can on Red Bull. In 'Coronation Street' nobody shops at Tesco (always the fictional supermarket). But, then again there's freedom for people to drive round an array of cars. I mean, if a brand new Mercedes-Benz in featured on TV, then that's product placement, isn't it? And in sports, there's brand logos around the side of the pitch (in the case of football) and logos behind players when doing interviews. Perhaps someone working in advertising would be able to tell me. So, if anyway understand how it works and cares to explain, please do! I still listen to the radio in my car. Do your friends and family still listen to the radio? I have." moreResolved Question: Can anyone tell me what kind of vehicle this is?

I wrote a persuasive essay for English a while back and I thought it'd be appropriate to post it somewhere on the Internet, so why not Y!A? :D Anyways, I can't find my 4 or 5 sources anywhere but will edit them in if I find them. Tell me what you guys think...once I get the sources up you can check my internal citations :P Hybrids Are Bad for the Environment Hybrids are all the craze nowadays and the car companies are selling them under the impression that they are the ultimate in green car technology. They have an advertised MPG, or miles per gallon, that is much, much higher than gasoline and diesel fueled cars. They emit fewer greenhouse gases while running which contributes to the slowing of global warming, the natural heating of the Earth which can be intensified due to higher than normal amounts of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Finally, they use less gasoline because of the MPG which will save the precious gasoline supplies in the world. But are they really that eco-friendly? Hybrids use Nickel-Cadmium or Lithium-ion batteries, Cadmium and Lithium being extremely rare in large quantities. The processing of the nickel in preparation for battery making releases copious amounts of sulfur dioxide into the air, which causes acid rain, which will destroy the ecosystem for miles around the nickel plants. Hybrids also advertise 19 MPG higher than what the realistic MPGs of hybrids are, and the precious gasoline that hybrids are using less of, will run out about the same time the precious minerals used in the hybrid batteries run out at current rates. There are also hybrids that plug into the wall, and of course that makes the emissions out of the car less, but the emissions from the coal being burned in 70% of the United States is much less clean than the gasoline and diesel fuels. Hybrids should not be developed further, as they are as destructive to the environment as gasoline cars are, as they use precious minerals in their batteries, cause acid rain around the nickel plants, destroying ecosystems, not saving them, and burn coal instead of gasoline for power. The best alternative for the most eco-friendly car is a clean diesel car with the PZEV, or Partial Zero Emission Vehicle, option available at many dealerships. The batteries used in hybrids destroy ecosystems around the mining and processing plants and the precious minerals used in hybrids will run out at about the same time as gasoline. Will this really solve the problem? The batteries in hybrids, in an example of the Prius batteries, made in Sudbury, Ontario, cause acid rain. According to Impact Lab, “[t]he acid rain around Sudbury was so bad it destroyed all the plants and the soil slid down off the hillside” (Prius), and with more and more companies creating hybrids, more and more battery processing plants will be made, causing more and more acid rain due to the copious amounts of sulfur dioxide emitted during battery processing. Not only do the batteries destroy the ecosystems around the plants, “after maybe 100,000 miles, the battery starts to lose its ability to charge. Tesla Motors performance figures even state that after 50,000 miles, the batteries will only perform at about 70% their optimal, factory level” (Why). What does that mean? That means that after 100,000 miles the battery will have to be replaced, and the used batteries cannot be recycled, and thus just go into landfills. And if you want optimal performance, you’d have to change the battery every 50,000 miles. The average gasoline car can be used until nearly 300,000 miles before ultimate failure with minor repairs, which is 4-7 batteries in a hybrid. And you have to remember that, according to Four-bits.com, “lithium… is pretty rare in large quantities. With projected increases in the use of lithium, the known mines would run out about the same time as oil” (Why). This makes hybrids just another quick fix that won’t fix the problem with the environment long term. Many hybrids are being converted into plug-in hybrids which plug directly into a household wall socket and charge via the coal-burning power plants that provide electricity to 70% of the United States, and coal emits many more greenhouse gases than gasoline does. This means that “coal-burning plants could be even worse for the environment than gasoline-burning engines…” (Hybrid). And even in the green-powered electricity states, such as California, Jim Motavalli of The Environmental Magazine quoted that the “ACEEE concluded that a plug-in version of the Toyota Prius could reduce CO2 emissions by a third over a conventional Prius hybrid, but only if its batteries were charged with California electricity — generated mainly from relatively clean sources. In the Midwest, dominated by coal-burning power plants, the report says the plug-in Prius would actually generate one percent more carbon dioxide” (Motavalli). California being the strictest state in emissions standard, this is a rare case of hybriThanks for your rebuttal :D I spent about 5 hours digging through all the pro hybrid stuff to get to this con hybrid stuff... I still dislike hybrids (I'm a fast car guy, not a fuel efficient one) but I was not aware that the sudbury (spelling?) was cleaned up... anyways, thanks for your rebuttal, I convinced my whole english class that hybrids were bad (including my hybrid-driving teacher) so now I have the actual facts. I'd still rather ride a bike to be fuel efficient. :P moreResolved Question: can you really get a free car or get paid to have your car wrapped with advertising?

This sounds crazy.....but I am in my senior year of college majoring in Public Relations and Advertising about to graduate and I have decided to change my career path. I have always thought about becoming a doctor but never had enough confidence to follow through with it. Just recently, my brother was hit by a car and has been unable to walk for the last 9 months. I pretty much became his at-home nurse once he was allowed to leave the hospital and go home (4 months of being in the hospital with him and other doctors and 5 months with him living in a hospital bed at home). I am an extremely giving person, and I want to pursue a career where I have the ability to help other people. I am very smart and determined, I know if I set my mind to it I can be a doctor. I want to help make the world be a better place. (I know it sounds cheesy but this is my passion). I don't think making a commercial for Folger's coffee is going to cut it. So, I was thinking of doing a two year program (no summer breaks) and getting a post-baccalaureate degree in biological sciences and then heading off to medical school. What do you think? moreResolved Question: Is this a good enough deal, or should I be more aggressive? (Used cars)?
A local Toyota dealership was offering $5000 for any used car as a trade in. My trade in is a 1997 Ford Taurus I would consider to be in poor condition. (Accident free, but heating and air conditioning have both failed. Around 140,000 miles.) The vehicle I am after is a 2009 Toyota Prius with no accidents on record, but 38,000 miles. Kelly bluebook values this at $18,470. The salesman has asked for $19,000 on the vehicle, and despite their add will only offer $4,000 on the trade. I doubt my current car is worth $1,000, so even with this trade, I would be getting a vehicle valued at $18,470 for only $16,000 It seems good on paper, but I am wondering if I should really push for them to live up to their advertising claim. As the trade in deal ends tomorrow, I need to decide soon. moreResolved Question: Where should we move to..Cambridge Ont, Kitchener Ont, or Waterloo Ont.?
Hi there everyone, Have a big question for you fine folks if you’re up to it. My wife Stacey, my dog Ruston and I, Hank are going to be moving in the next month from Winnipeg to one of these new places. Kitchener, Cambridge or Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. We’ve done some research on these places but would like to hear from actual residents which one they think would suit us better since we don’t know much about the business/personal lifestyles in these area’s. I guess the best thing to do is tell you about ourselves and tell you what we are looking for. My wife Stacey has worked in healthcare/secretarial work for over 12 years, has her own online/home business Sunrider http://www.harnessyoursunpower.com She is also big into working out and becoming involved in the fitness field. She recently ran her own “Biggest Loser Challenge” to which the winner received an $1100 jackpot for losing the most weight in 4 months. Her and I currently run an online garage sale type of business where we sell locally to the people of Winnipeg (but will soon change it to where ever we end up) http://www.garagesalewinnipeg.com She is 33 years old and is a very hard worker at anything she sets her mind to. Ruston is our doggy and is my best friend! He is 12 years old but acts like a puppy. He is a Husky/Lab cross and loves to go on daily walks and car rides. He’s a little human with fur! Now..me. I’m a professional rock drummer, expert vintage comic book collector and right now, a pizza delivery dude full time. I also run my own Collectibles Research website http://www.youcollectweconnect.com where I help people find the stuff they love to collect. I am going to open an online vintage comic book store in the next while as well and I need to be in an area where I can buy inventory and participate in the comic book/collectibles field. I am 42 years old but my wife says I’m like a little kid and sure don’t look my age. We are looking more for a city type setting rather than a country place to live meannnning while the out in the country and being away from people may be great for some folks, we are used to being active and up until the wee hours doing things. We want as close to a large populous as can be, I want to get in a rock band and play around the surrounding area’s, I want to talk to business owners and be around a business district (center) where I can learn more about home business in that city. We want to be in a safer area (where we don’t have to look over our shoulder all the time) and we want to be able to shop after 6pm at night if we need to. We are not party people but we have a good time when we want to, we are mature, responsible adults who know what they want out of life and are working hard to get it. Now, which one of these places sound like us….Kitchener Ont.?? Cambridge Ont.?? Or Waterloo Ont.?? We have chosen these places to look because they are very central to London, Toronto, Detroit, New York and many other big places only a short drive away from for our type of home business’s and lifestyles…ie: Shopping for vintage comic books. I didn’t mean to sound like I was advertising our business’s on here, I was merely putting them on so you could be well informed of who and what we are and what we do. If it breaks a rule we apologise in advance! For once I wasn’t advertising…LoL! Feel free to ask us any questions and we’ll try to answer in a timely manner between running our business’s, working our jobs, walking our dog and packing..yeah, I know ..everyone’s busy..LoL! By the way, we’re moving because we rent and they sold our house and we’re really tired of Winnipeg and need a change in all aspects. Thanx in advance everyone! moreVoting Question: Is my speech good enough?
The Media and our Body Images of female bodies that have the 'perfect' figure are all over the world. Women-and their body parts- sell all from foods to cars. Young women are being brainwashed into thinking that the ideal shape means to be skinny, tall, furthermore, being flawless, also known as perfect. ** thesis goes here** It's not just development that affects self-esteem. Many other factors (like media images of skinny girls) can affect a person's body image too. Seeing these images over and over may lead women to think that their own bodies are not acceptable, leading them to develop unhealthy body images. And unfortunately, such negative feelings can sap self-esteem and set the stage for eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. Many women will strive for that 'perfect' frame no matter what they have to do. All the negative influence that the media is portraying as the 'perfect' body are causing more problems then solving them. People are beginning to go to great length just to stay thin, and flawless. An American research group of eating disorder, says, that one out of every four college-aged women uses unhealthy methods of weight control—including fasting, skipping meals, extreme exercise, abuse, and self-induced vomiting. Young girls, too, are being affected to stay thin. But we can stop this! One of the ways we can protect our self-esteem and body image from the media's definitions of beauty and acceptability is to become a critical viewer of the media that we are bombarded with each day. The media's news about body shape and size will affect the way we feel about our bodies and ourselves only if we let them. So, be aware of the 'flawless' images, the stereotypes based more on looks than on talents. The put-downs of people who don't fit the narrow definition of ideal. When we effectively recognize and analyze the media's messages that influence us, remember that the media's definitions of beauty and success does not define our self-image or potential. Overall, though its sad to say, media has completely took over our lifestyle. Although, it can be changed, it all depends how we feel about ourself. No one should want to change who they are because the media makes women feel like we have to 'look a certain way' or 'be a certain way'. The media is just words and pictures designed to advertise products and endorse. The harmful messages they send shouldn't be listened too! __________________________ If my speech needs correction or fixing, please fill free to do it. For my intro. im having problem on my thesis. Can you guys help me think of a thesis statement? moreResolved Question: i bought a car in good faith a year ago and it turns out it has outstanding finance what can i do?

Say a person has a business and is running a special, or someone's selling a car (or a washing machine, clothes, or whatever). Do you think it's tacky/poor etiquette for someone to advertise it on their Facebook status assuming most of the people that will be reading it are friends? Or do you think it's appropriate? Just curious what you think as my hubby and I were having a conversation about this. At this point I don't feel strong one way or the other. I'm wondering what you all think. moreVoting Question: How do you feel about people bragging with obnoxious statuses on Facebook?
I just saw a friend post "I'm not used to flying coach" on his Facebook status. The company he works for flies him first-class/business class everywhere he goes. He's kind of a young punk too, so his success is kind of going to his head. He's very materialistic and likes posting pictures of his cars, his house and his body on Facebook. I also have another friend who works for some company in Dubai and has the time to always vacation and travel to certain places. I don't even think she does anything at the company. She met some people from there at college, and one of them got her a job at some firm over there. She always posts that she's going to different areas, kind of like shoving it in your face. How do you feel about people that do things like that? I know some people who have good careers on Facebook, but they are classy and don't brag about it all the time! Why would you even want to...start advertising that you're wealthy or traveling a lot, and you are opening yourself up to trouble from potential thieves... moreResolved Question: Has society really become so immoral?
I'm curious to know if anyone else feels the same way. I believe our society has become ridiculously immoral. As much as we like to brag about being in a new age with great intellect, technology and whatnot. A lot of people seem to have lost their conscious. Society has some sort of obsession with beauty and sex, that's even affecting really young kids. You can't even browse on the Internet without seeing advertises and pictures of half-naked girls prancing around. Even cartoons for kids have become blatantly lewd, and filthy. People can't even talk without cursing, or talking about inappropriate things. I've seen little kindergarten-ers and first graders talk about sex and inappropriate things. My friend's little sister, struts on her mother's car and starts stripping and dancing to Lady Gaga, and Britney Spears songs. Parents don't even care what their kids are doing, watching. It's just really sad. :/ I feel like hiding in a cave.By the way, I never said beauty or sex is immoral. They are not in themselves immoral, but they can be used IMMORALLY AND THEY ARE. Adultery is so common, cheating is common, there's no such thing as chastity or modesty anymore. They're looked down upon, and they're laughed at. moreVoting Question: I can never find a book that interests me?
Take the crappy books that are "Best-sellers", for example. They are full of overly contrived plots, biographies of people I don't give a shit about, EXTREME left-wing agendas, and just overall WOMAN stories. It seems like this is what 99.9% of books are. The only ones that partially interest me are the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre, but considering I've read most, if not all, of the actually GOOD ones out there (Martin, Asimov, Wolfe, etc) I don't have any left to read. Seriously, plots like this DO NOT interest me: "Complications ensue when a wealthy Wisconsin widower in 1907 advertises for a spouse." "Twin brothers, conjoined and then separated, grow up amid the political turmoil of Ethiopia" "An insightful Lab-terrier mix helps his owner, a struggling race car driver." "A man whose daughter was abducted is invited to an isolated shack, apparently by God." more
