Open Question: Credit matters more when seeking best car deals ?

Lenders eager to provide money for car loans, but cautious still about customer credit DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- It's getting easier to get a car loan. "A couple of months ago, it was horrible," says George Magliano, an automotive research analyst with IHS Global Insight. "The least blemish on your credit report and you got nothing." The loan approval rate for customers with the highest credit scores was 90 percent in June after sliding to 70 percent in late 2008 during the recession. It's this group that's taking advantage of the widely advertised zero-percent financing deals. For the majority of consumers with middle-tier credit, in the range of 620 to 750, loan approvals jumped 12 percentage points in the past year to above 82 percent, says CNW Marketing Research of Brandon, Ore. Plenty of banks are eager to make deals. And now, even those with poor credit scores are getting a break. Historically, the approval rate for subprime borrowers -- those with scores below 620 -- ran about 60 percent. Last year, the rate fell to 5 percent. Now, it's running at 9 percent. Subprime borrowers still need to make a sizable downpayment and will pay interest of 10 percent or more, but car buyers with poor credit make up a big chunk of the market. About 17 percent of all the auto loans written for new car buyers in the first quarter were to customers with below-prime credit. This same group obtained 53 percent of the loans for used cars, according to the credit reporting agency Experian. Selling more cars is vital to an economic recovery. The auto industry accounts for around 3 to 5 percent of the nation's gross domestic product and about 16 percent of all durable goods shipments. Better access to credit is an important step to selling more cars and helping an industry that has seen 250,000 jobs disappear in the past three years. Nearly 830,000 auto-related jobs still exist in the U.S. It helps that interest rates are falling. The average rate for a four-year car loan this month is 6.3 percent, down from 7.2 percent a year ago, according to Bankrate.com. There's another sign of a reawakening car credit market: Lenders are expanding. One of the largest subprime auto lenders, AmeriCredit Corp., expanded the number of auto dealers it works with to more than 8,000 in the first quarter of this year -- up from 4,500 a year ago. "That's a sign that they're willing to tick up their lending; they're feeling a lot better about the trends," says Meghan Neenan, an analyst for Fitch Ratings. Some lenders want customers to make larger down payments or bring in a more valuable trade-in to increase chances of loan repayment, says Keith Leggett, a senior economist at the American Bankers Association. Others, including local and regional banks have relaxed car loan terms. SunTrust banks, for example, are extending the term of the loan, allow customers to borrow a higher percentage of the car's value and will more readily negotiate on a down payment, says Jeff Hooper, consumer lending manager for SunTrust. Many local banks are looking for new sources of revenue after losing money on commercial real estate loans. What's more, General Motors' top North American executive Mark Reuss has said the company wants to boost sales to subprime customers, which currently amount to just 1 percent of annual sales. GM said last month it is developing additional relationships with other financial sources to boost subprime lending. It's likely incentives will continue to pump up auto sales and lenders will continue to expand their business, but not without a close eye on trends that might show the economy slipping backward. "Everyone's being kind of cautious still because they're afraid of a double-dip recession and unemployment is still high," says Neenan, the Fitch analyst. more

Open Question: Car insurance quote different than advertised PLEASE HELP!?

Please help me! I slaved my ass off to buy my 1st car, and I could just afford the insurance, I enetered everything on the website how I should and phoned them up today to book, now they have told me that as soon as you add a second driver the price goes up, even though I did add a second driver on the quote, and that is included in the price, now they are telling me it would be over £3000! One guy even told me the quote was incorrect, but that isn't my problem is it? If I was doing my shopping online and something was £3.50 and when I got it delivered they told me it was actually £35.00, they would still have to sell it to me for £3.50! What can I say to them? Surely if I am quoted a price, than that (or roundabouts) is the price I will pay!Quote was £1500.... It was the only quote I could even begin to afford for ANY car. I took me ages to get. Can you actually bargain with insurance companies? more

Voting Question: Mowing Lawns for people?

I am 13 and have been mowing my lawn since about age eight (by my own will - I even had my mom let go of our lawn service so I could do it). I used to get paid $10, but I recently got a raise to $15/cut. I was wondering if I could mow a few other people's lawn in my neighborhood for the same price. I have the proper equipment and motivation. I mow, weed-eat, edge, and blow. Over the years I have improved and I now do a good job. Advertising is my problem. Due to my age, I made a flyer to pass out face-to-face. The flyer doesn't list prices - should it? (I don't want to look like a business). One problem - I live in a deed restricted, no soliciting neighborhood. A lot of nice seniors live in my neighborhood - I'm not sure if they would mind... Any advice? I will also offer services, such as weed pulling, raking, pet sitting and car washing. Thank you for your answers in advance as I really appreciate it. more

Voting Question: HOW TO BUY USED CHEAP BUT GOOD CAR IN AUSTIN TX, FIRST TIME CAR BUYER, DON'T WANT TO GET SCREWED OVER!?

I want to buy a car, i just need a cheap runaround to get me from home to work to college to the store etc. I don't get how cars can be "worth" so much though, like 10, 12, 15 year old cars with 150,000+ miles are still worth thousands, eh?? So whenever i look online at used cars they show me ones for 8, 9, 10+ thousand $'s, but if i ask to search under that they show me pieces of crap. I don't understand the whole buying process and am trying to know as much as i can because i know dealers and that take advantage of people who they think don't know a lot about cars and such like. I just want a car for under $3000 that runs, hasn't been in a wreck or anything (i don't mind cosmetic scratches and dents etc but i don't want a front wing smashed in or anything) I don't want to have to spend a fortune on it, like replacing the gear box or if the floor is rusty etc. It just needs to run and last for 2 or 3 years basically. I just need help with where to look, I've tried eBay, auto-trader, dealer websites etc, but without much luck. I'm not looking to buy a car online without seeing it first but i just wanted a couple of definite places to look to save aimlessly looking round dealer lots. Also the websites say things like ...."Sales Tax, Title, License Fee, Registration Fee, Dealer Documentary Fee, Finance Charges, Emission Testing Fees and Compliance Fees are additional to the advertised price." what are all these extra things and how much are they? if the car is advertised at $2,995 will i end up paying like $5000 when all this extra stuff is added? Someone please advise me.Thanks 'theneelster' for your answer, I didn't think of craigslist, I dont need a super fancy one, i just wanted a little sedan type corolla or something like it, i didnt want a great honking truck or SUV (probably the only person in texas who doesnt). I would be fine doing general maintenance like oil change and tyres etc but i just wanted to know how to check for other things like if the floors rotten and if the gear box will last or the engines about to go bang, coz unless i was definitely planning on buying it i cant afford to have a mechanic look at every car i see so i wanted to be able to know enough myself to decide whether its a viable option. more

Resolved Question: Do conservatives need whiny Liberals and they don`t know it?

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised. All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry. In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a conributor. Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune. It is noon time and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression. Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that his in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university. Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the tax-payer funded roads. He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification. He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to. Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like. I have." more

Resolved Question: ♥poll What do you think about advertising♥?

I know this is long but please just take the time to read it, If you have time to answer tons of other pointless questions you have time to answer mine. Ya know what irks me? The way the media takes advantage of it's audience! Like ya know when you go to see a movie and your sitting in the theater and for like 20mins before the movie you have to sit through commercials, Like car commercials, soda commercials and condescending advertisements belittling you because you didn't buy your tickets online! Screw these people with a lawn gnome! I'm so sick of being stuck somewhere watching some stupid commercial for some crap I DON'T WANT! No wait! It doesn't end at the theater! Its in your computer! No matter what you watch you have to sit through some idiotic commercial beforehand! Wanna watch a short? Sorry, You need to sit through a super powerful adhesive ad! wanna watch a new clip, HOLD ON THERE! Theres a new dog crap remover you need to know about! It continues to go on on and on and on and before you know it you won't be able to walk outside your front door without an ad painted on your sidewalk!!! I don't go outside unless I have to so I'm fine with that...I'm just saying! Advertising has become unnecessary evil, to a certain extent! It helps pay for certain things and helps people maintain certain aspects of there business. However,When I go to a movie theater and i'm already paying $20.00 for a movie ticket why the hell do i have to sit through commercials!?!?!?!?!? What are they paying for?? The popcorn? Oh no sorry thats like $8.00,wait! Maybe the ads cover my soda,Wait! nooo...$4.50! maybe, just maybe ill get i special trinket from the movie I just saw oh noo! THATS GUNNA BE $35.00!!!!! So what it looks like to me is pre-rolled advertising in movie theaters doesn't pay for anything!!! I get no discount, No free candy,No cookies not even a dang taco crumb! I get nothing! All I get is bombarded with crap insulted by morons and taken advantage of by paper pushing idiots! So anyways, What do you think about advertising? Is it to much or not enough? Your input is wanted! more

Resolved Question: What will the approx HP & Torque be on my new engine / hotrod setup (78 El Camino)?

The engine is about to be put into the car, and my mechanic wants to go to the track & test it on the quarter mile. He states that this setup is producing 400 - 450 lbs Torque and 450 - 500 HP. He also feels that the car will run the quarter mile in 9 - 10 seconds. I think the car might be at the low end of his HP & Torque estimates, but I think if I ran a 12 sec 1/4 mile in this car I would be lucky. The engine is together, just needs to be put in the car and the rear end put on. Here are all the specs that would be useful I think for this calculation. I have learned a bit about engines, but mostly that going with all new parts is too expensive and I will never get my money back out of this. My mechanic also stated that if there was a weak link in my setup it is the 600 cfm carb. I may performance tune it, or get a 750 cfm if you think this will make a major difference. 1978 El Camino, 3,800 lbs (max) ALL engine components are NEW •389 Stroker Engine •SBC Block Machine Bored .060 over, Line Honed, basically a NEW block. The bearings got messed up because he put the wrong flywheel on there & so it hadn’t really even been driven before I had to have the engine taken out and I thought I would use this opportunity to put in a Lunati Voodoo Roller cam that my mechanic had. I asked for him to write down the specs for it, but he did not write down the specs as I had asked. (I know…wtf!?!) He thinks the lift is 490 and the compression ratio is 10:1. I went to the Lunati website and looked at all the Roller Voodoo cams for one matching that description and the closest I could find was this one: http://www.lunatipower.com/Product.aspx?id=1993&gid=290 Part Number 60132Cam Specs: Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 273/279 Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 243/249 Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .578/.585 LSA/ICL: 110/106 Valve Lash (Int/Exh): 016/016 RPM Range: 2600-7000 Either way, I feel like I need to know what kind of cam is in the car or I’d be a fool, so I’m going to have to have him take the part number down and see if it fits with the setup or not. If not, I’m going to get a new one put in. He is a friend of mine, so he’s not trying to screw me over, but I feel like I am risking getting screwed if I don’t get this setup right. Once it is in, I’m getting my car to a shop for fine tuning & a checkup, but I don’t want to have to pay someone else to take the motor out again and change the cam. (since it is already out). If I had a range that the cam should be in, I can check it and if it is not in that range, I can get another & not have to pay for the cam that is currently in the car, except for the change.Once this cam is in, I cannot wait to get my car home. I am hoping the right cam can fix the compression issues somehow. Info about the Intake - The intake is classified as a dual riser intake on ebay, but that may be different from a dual plane. I found the description if it being a single plane in a hotrodder forum when doing the search for the intake on google. Here is a link to the ebay listing page for the intake http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m570.l1313&_nkw=HI+TECH+TORQUE+LINK+INTAKE+MANIFOLD&_sacat=See-All-Categories It is really tall, that’s for sure. Anyway thanks very much for the needed details & I hope this helps & that there is a cam spec that can balance this engine out. more

Resolved Question: Should I ask my parents for money?

I am 18 and am currently holding down 2 jobs before I go to uni in september. My first job hasn't been able to give me any extra hours apart from 2 night shifts 11-7am, and my bar job is so casual that they haven't been giving hours recently either. However, I really need money to be able to run my car - it costs about £40 quid to fill it up :( I currently have £140 in my bank account to last until pay day which about a month away! My car insurance in £85 a month, and that will go out before I get paid, which means I only have £55 to last me a month of petrol... Should I ask my parents for a £100 advance on my paycheck? That should cover me for the time being... The other alternative is struggling through and hoping there's enough in my account for my car insurance. I am literally desperate - I've already advertised as a babysitter, and as a violin teacher (I have grade 8 violin and a diploma in violin performance) and nobody is replying to my adverts! What do you guys reckon? more

Resolved Question: How much should I charge people to eat my cream pie?

Hi. I'm trying to raise money for the youth group's mission trip at our church. Some of my friend's had a yard sale but I couldn't help with that because my Gramma was getting put into a nursing home down in Florida and I had to go help her move and then go to Disney World so I couldn't like help with the garage sale or anything. So, now I feel really bad about all that and was going to try and have a car wash but I only own one bikini and it's white and my dad doesn't think it's a good idea to wear a white bikini for a car wash with strangers because he said it'd give my customers tight pants like my dad says he gets, whatever that means. So, I thought maybe I could sell some of my famous cream pie. A lot of people love my cream pie when I serve it at the town fair in September. It's my gramma's recipe and I was thinking maybe I could advertise on craigslist.com or in the local Penny Saver paper that I'm selling servings of my cream pie. I just don't know how much I should charge for a huge helping of my cream pie? It's made with real coconut milk, coconuts and real bananas. How much would you pay to try my cream pie? more

Resolved Question: I want to start a new life. How do I do this?

The economy in the USA is so bad that I can't really find a job. I have basically no friends; the few that I still have barely call me. Even with my bachelor's degree I'm finding it hard to find employment. Today I hired an escort service. I arrived late there and she told me that we needed to hurry. I was a virgin when I arrived but not when I stepped out the door. It was my first time and she rushed me, so I feel unsatisfied because I paid $160. It only lasted about 30 minutes then she said "If you're not gonna ***, I'll just give you a handjob." I couldn't *** because the condom she put on me prevented me from feeling much at all. The session made me feel like I was doing a robot. I feel like she just saw me as "another bloke to get over with" instead of a real "girlfriend experience' as was advertised. I would much prefer to have did my first time with my girlfriend but I don't have one. It's really hard to make a girl like you if you don't have a job and a car. I don't have model looks/personality either, so that makes it even harder. I am Chinese at 23 and she was a Thai girl, 24. I want to move away somewhere else where I can just be myself and have fun. Why is life so hard? All I ever wanted is for somebody to care. A few close friends and a little extra money. I'm not even asking for that much! more

Resolved Question: Holding a balance on my card vs. paying it all off (and general credit/loan questions)?

Hello, So here is a small issue that I've been thinking about. For a good half year or so, my FICO score has been staying at a steady 745. I want to raise it so I keep up with my credit card payments, yet it has stayed the same. Then it dawned on me, everytime I get a charge to my card, I pay it off right away, that way most of the time, on each of my cards, my credit statement at the end of the month reads a value of $0.00 owed. However, now I have people saying that it is better for me to allow those charges to show on my statement balance and then pay them off afterwards and that that will build my credit. Is this true? Does having a balance show on my monthly statement matter? Will it directly improve my credit to finally creep above this 745 dead zone I've been sitting on? The reason I want to raise it is I am beginning to look to taking out a loan for a car (partially so I can get a new car and partially so I can build better and larger credit lines for a house in the future). Would this be a good idea to reach my future plan of a house or should I stick to just the credit cards and not taking out a loan on a new car since it will mean I will incur more debt? Also, what kind of loan rate do you think I'd be looking at for a car loan? I am in California, and am looking to get a loan for a used car at $10k. The credit union I am at advertises an interest rate of 6.45%. With a credit history of 3 years and the aforementioned score, what kind of realistic interest rate would I be looking at? Above 10%?What I meant with the taking the car loan to increase my ability for the future, I meant is my thinking right in that if I show that I had a loan of this size and paid it off, would it make it easier to get a housing loan in the future or is it irrelevant and I should just stick to building my credit through my credit cards alone? more

Resolved Question: Qustion for my niece?

My sister and her family (of 5 children) are having really tough money problems. Her husband, who has been out of the job struggling to find new work for over 2 years, has just finally started working again. They are still trying to pay off old bills, AND help their oldest pay for her rent and car insurance because she also just recently lost her job. I am also struggling almost as much as they are money wise, and can not help. However, their second oldest, who is 17 years old, asked me if I knew anywhere she could easily get a job. I do not know what to say! Where should I send her? My niece is almost 17 years old and absolutely gorgeous, with a body I am very jealous of! Still not 18 yet, so no one offer up hooters or anything. lol. She is very bright and graduated at 15 years old, she is a little bit of an over-achiever and is going to University of Michigan. She is now almost a junior in college and I am very proud of her. She got some job at a pizza place on campus and with all the money she made brought it into the family to go towards groceries, etc for everyone. However the job just ended and she needs something else that would pay decently well. She is also already a vocal/piano instructor out of her home, and is advertising, but does not yet have enough students to make it full time so for the time being needs something else. Even a simple restaurant gig. She lives in Michigan. She says she is willing to work night shifts (as she has done before unloading trucks.) What do I say to her? Since I can not give money or anything, I still want to help out my family. Sorry there is so much info and thank you in advance! She can be good at anything... But where is hiring? Who would hire her at 16?Yes, but she is not 17 yet, she will be in the fall and she needed something much sooner. I would sound lame if I said wait until you are older to get another job, wouldn't I?Hooters does not hire until at least 17 years old-- and that is only for kitchen worker or hostess (less work, less tips.) more

Resolved Question: Budget 2010: Welfare and benefits - if its so bad why don t the government give out Rationing books?

The Second World War saw the disappearance from the shops of all but the necessities. Rationing of food and clothing Bacon - 4 oz. (113 gm) to 8 oz. (227 gm) a week Tea - 2 oz. (57 gm) to 4 oz. (113 gm) a week Cheese — 1 oz. (28 gm) to 8 oz. (227 gm) this can worke in to days markit family's can be given Sugar - 8 oz. (227 gm) a week. In July 1940 a complete ban was put on the making or selling of iced cakes, and in September the manufacture of 'candied peel' or 'crystallised cherries' meant the death knell for the traditional wedding cake. On 1st December 1941 the Ministry of Food introduced the points rationing scheme for items such as canned meat, fish and vegetables at first. Later items such as rice, canned fruit, condensed milk, breakfast cereals, biscuits and cornflakes were added. Everyone was given 16 points a month, later raised to twenty, to spend as wished at any shop that had the items wanted. There was an advertising song in a commercial film in 1943 which went: Somebody’s going to be sorry, Somebody’s going to pay, Somebody’s going to be sorry They wasted my life away. with a picture of a tablet of soap dissolving away down the sink because it had been left in water. A 12-oz. (340 gm) packet of soap powder was half a month’s ration; you could get one egg every two months and powdered egg could be bought on points. Fruit like bananas vanished altogether. Clothes rationing on points began in June 1941 and a new kind of clothing— utility clothing—was introduced, using cheap materials and the minimum amount of cloth. There were even points for furniture, although you were given these only if you were newly married, or had been bombed out, or were having a baby. Petrol was rationed so people stopped buying cars. The things still rationed in 1948, three years after the war, were: Bacon and Ham 2 oz. (57 gm) per person a fortnight Cheese 1½ oz. (43 gm) a week Butter/margarine 7 oz. Resolved Question: middleclassman << Best Pro-Liberal Story ever.?

We don`t pretend we get things done becasue we are not against everything. Just ask Joe the conservative. I have." _____________________________________ This story was provided by user "middleclassman". more

Resolved Question: I just bought a privately owned used car in BC... Did I get swindled?

Under a week ago I paid $1700 cash for a 199 vw golf that was advertised as being 149 xxx km with no accidents. We purchased the car, and THEN carfaxed it (I know, stupid me) and turns out it was totaled in 2004, and is now classified as 'rebuilt'. So hat was my fault, I figured I should just suck it up. But now, I was sorting through the papers again and I found another document wedged in the aircare pamphlet. It's the previous owners transfer form! It says it has 200 000 km on it... And it was signed by both parties. So... I have this government transfer form now that says this golf has 149xxx km (lie) no damage over $2k (lie). I haven't transferred the car to my name yet, and it's been under a week since I paid for it. Anyone have any idea what kind of legal rights I have here? more

Resolved Question: How are so many low class people becoming so rich?

FYI: I live in India. Please Note: I am neither Racist nor Casteist. But I am person with several genuine problems and absolute bewilderment. I am website designer, and I have extremely good communication skills. I rate myself as a very good at civic sense and social manner awareness. I am trying to run my small family (4, including myself) with the earnings out of my shoestring business. I am always polite to my clients, I make sure they are comfortable with every technical aspect of their website, I make sure the site is Standards Compliant for the client's sake, despite them not even knowing what W3C Standards are. I try to keep my prices as comfortable as possible, and relatively low. Yes, I am somewhat more expensive than the general market, but the cost of having an unruly, brutal joke of a messy website "design" is more than the price of owning a good website. Also, I never spit on the road, refuse to relieve myself on the pavements like so many other people do despite desperate urgency, always say "excuse me" before I do anything remotely assertive. I respect women, pay my taxes on time. Despite all this, I barely manage to scrape by, financially speaking. I am usually at the mercy of my landlord, and begging all the people I owe money to, to wait "just a few more days". Then, I get a small respite in the form of a new client or two, and I am forced to spend all the money on my commitments. This basically leaves no chance for me to improve upon my life, or the conditions therein. I am always stuck in this vicious cycle of debt and repayment. Add to my woes is the fact that we as a family have no source of support from our relatives, and hence zero investment capability; I can't even afford to advertise my services in the local newspaper classifieds. I am forced to rely on the poorly maintained and extremely unreliable public transport system, since I don't have a vehicle. Yet, I do try to work hard, against all odds. CONTRAST THIS WITH THE FOLLOWING: All I have to do is to take a short walk onto the main road, and I see multiple swanky cars on the road. In a majority of these expensive vehicles, there are people who are unruly, wear arrogant looks on their faces, and drive like shit. A lot of them don't look educated (you can tell the difference, though it sounds preposterous). They don't hesitate to pull down the window and spit copious paan onto the roads. They don't hesitate to open up their fly and start spewing on to the footpath, even in the presence of women on the road. They wear large chunky jewellery on their sweaty unhygienic bodies (trying to demonstrate their wealth), but display the social sense of a bacterium. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! How is this happening? Will I ever succeed in life? Will I ever overtake these creatures? And pray tell me HOW _SO MANY_ of them are ending up so RICH! This is not a rare phenomenon anymore... so my curiosity... more

Resolved Question: How can I get people to write for me?

I have a car/bike website. I advertised on craigslist for writers to help me. I got quite a few responses and was really excited about the project. Once it was launched, I was down to one other writer and myself. And lately I haven't heard from him. I know that actually paying my writers would probably help some, but they all agreed to contribute and try to build it up into a paying gig. I have one more month on my site. I haven't sold any ads yet because I want the site to look like more than some guy sitting in his dining room in his underwear, posting whatever on the site. Any ideas where I can scare up some writers? more

Voting Question: I dont know what is going on with my boyfriend?

Its quite complicated - Firstly - We have been together for about five years. He has his own business so I bought a house which is in my name. We agreed to do this in case his business folded and i wouldnt lose the house. Anyway - he does F@@k all to help me in the house - No help with DIY, no help with cleaning or maintenance. When i ask him why he says Its not his house so hes not intrested!!!! I feel really crap - he keeps throwing in my face even though it was his idea. He has a flat above his business and sometimes he still stays there, esp if we have an argument he just goes back there. Because of this set up he wont help me pay any bills on the house. He stays up till 3 in the morning using electricity. He gave me a credit card a while ago but im not allowed to use it so i have given it back to him. I dont know what to do - I work for him and I get a small amount of money for doing this but its not enough to live on at all. I have a son to support and my bf is just not helping. To top this off - I said to him I really dont know I can financially go on and am looking for another job. I joked about becoming an escort and he said he found that really horny. So horny in fact he nagged and nagged me to join an agency. Then because i joined he did too. That same day they said they had a booking for him - it made me feel sick. He was going to do it but then found out the agency are scamming people so cancelled it. I just dont know what to do - what is he doing to me. He has a boat which costs him about 1400 pounds a month, a new car which he recently bought for 800 pounds a month plus other stuff. yet he wont help me more. I saw a shop near me today advertising for staff so i told him i might apply and he was really shitty about it. I cant win - and i dont know what to do. more

Resolved Question: Outrage at Christian Evangelisation International Ministries Church, Abp Paul Baker to blame. WHY?

This church advertises on the net asking people to donate money to help the needy. I will tell you who the needy are. It is run by Rev Dr Leslie Mary Trombly who has a lovely lifestyle in USA. She goes without nothing. Her hobby is running the church from her wheelchair online. It makes her feel important. Under her we have Abp Paul Baker, an old man now, married with kids and grandkids. He supposedly sorts out the money and gives it to those who need it etc. But this is what we found out about him, and all of this is proven. You can read an article about it. Sunday People newspaper, UK. Very Bad Men and other tv programmes are thinking of making a programme about this guy. His last church threw him out because of "money discrepancies". He has borowed huge sums of money from parishioners and others. One lent him £8000 and then he nagged her to lend him another £7000 which she refused. Most people have to work a year to earn this. This guy then insists that he is sorry but he cannot pay it back and pleads poverty. Yet in the meantime he has about 5 holidays a year, long expensive ones, buys cars, bought a boat, joined the golf club, and takes his family out for very expensive evenings. In other words the people who lend him money end up paying for his luxuries and lifestyle. Other churches in his area refused to deal with him because he didnt pay his bills or over charged. Other jobs he had always sacked him. He is almost bankrupt and owes the bank a great deal. Yet he continues to spend a lot. Usually other peoples money, which they think he will pay back, but he never does. Although this man is married with kids and grandkids and very old now, he also pesters women at the church for sex !! He told one much younger single woman that he loved her and wanted to marry her. He bought her an engagement ring, got officially engaged to her (forgetting to tell his wife). He also virtually moved in with her, making out to his wife that he had to work very long hours and that is why he was rarely at home. He did this for EIGHT YEARS and it only ended when the girlfriend ended it, it would still be going on now otherwise. He became so loathed and distrusted where he lived, and his wife knew that she was an outcast in the town, and she was scared that if they stayed he would keep pestering this woman to see him again. So they had to move a long way away. The church knows all this, yet they are happy to keep him. Happy for parishioners to trust him with their money and their lives. The fact that he uses people and lies to people and robs them doesnt bother them. What does this say about the church? more

Voting Question: Who is right in this family feud?

I have a grandma who is getting old and a very forgetful. My dad and my uncle (his brother) have been tense with each other after my dad found a bunch of checks addressed to my cousin who is in her 20's. She claims its for my grandmother's groceries, but each check is about $300 every other week. My grandma says she gives her the money because she's got two kids to raise and she's going through nursing school. What she likes to forget is that my cousin got pregnant at 16 and then again when she was 19, both to her then boyfriend, now husband. In my eyes this doesn't give her the right to collect money from my grandma, but that isn't the worst thing. My grandma has asked for my dad's help to sell her car since she can no longer drive. My dad claims that the car was promised to me (I'm 15) when i got my license. My grandma admits that but says she at least wants some money. We offered to pay $2000 for the car, which she agreed upon, then decided against, saying it wasn't enough. We don't have tons of extra money so we declined her offer of $3000. About a week and a half later, she asked my dad to put a sign on her car, advertising it for sale at $2000. My dad asked her why is it back at $2000 when she had said that was too little an amount. She says she knows that but she wants my cousin (as mentioned before) to be able to afford it since she has no cash flow. That is a lie since my cousin is out of college and working as a nurse, plus her weekly withdrawls from my grandma's bank account. That is the point where my dad somewhat lost it. He told my grandma that she was picking favorites and then he told my uncle to control his daughter before she sucked my grandma dry. This caused the rest of the family to turn on us. Who was right? I want to say my dad, but then again, i'm totally clueless to their side of the story... more

Resolved Question: Vehicle purchased on craigslist?

I bought a vehicle off craigslist early last week for $1,700. The car appeared to be in pretty good shape and ran pretty smooth, I put about 200mi on it and parked it only to notice it was spewing transmission fluid everywhere. I took it in to a shop where I know the guys and they told me it was a torn front seal and they recommended to another shop since they didn't work on transmissions. So after getting an estimate of about 600 to do the job I wasn't to upset, I figured something would go wrong with it. Then after a couple hours the shop called me back and told me that it was very bad on the inside and that the best route was a rebuild or a new transmission. The quote on the rebuild is $1,800...We called the private seller asking to help pay for part since in his ad he claimed "transmission in good working condition", I've put down 800 already and I'm trying to get a loan to pay the rest, my question is, can I take the seller to court for false advertising? To STEWIE: I paid cash for the car, all 1700. I bought the car around 7pm 30miles from my house. So pretty sure the mechanic was closed...I love how you defend crooked people, youre probably a heartless lawyer or a used car salesman who see's no problem in screwing over the working classTo make it more clear I've put 800 down on the transmission repair. Now I'm out of money. more

Resolved Question: Local church wants to take my younger brother to their youth group?

A few days ago my little brother grabbed a flyer that was on our doorknob that was advertising a free carnival for kids set up by a Christian Church a few blocks away. He is 8 and I am 16, and I babysit him often, as well as a cousin who is 6. A few days later while driving with both of them in my car they saw the lights and stands in the church parking lot. They begged me to take them down the street to this carnival and my mom said to take them, because they were making a fuss. When we got there it looked pretty lame. They had very few games and free cotton candy and popcorn, but they enjoyed themselves, even though we were there for less than an hour. Well when I walked in there they asked me to write my name, address, and kids name on a paper so they could mail an evaluation to my home on this carnival. Well today two ladies came to the door and said that they were going to be picking up my cousin and brother for their bible study on Sunday around 11 am and to have them ready! I told them that I don't think my mom will allow that and that we are not non-denominational Christians, we just went to the event because it was free. They then said that they wanted 20 dollars, 10 for each child who attended the event, and that it was only free to families who wanted to enroll their kids in the youth program! I then mentioned that I would have never wrote their names on the paper, I was told it was for a post evaluation. Well needless to say I told the lady not to come by on Sunday, because they won't be going and I was not paying anything and closed the door. Can I make a complaint against this church or these ladies? They really came to my door thinking they owned my brother!!! more

Resolved Question: One Stop Motors ????

Has anyone ever sold or bought a car from One Stop Motors? or even heard of them? I placed an add for my car on ebay and within 3 days One Stop Motors contacted me saying they could advertise and get my car sold for $499 non-refundable for more than what I was asking, that they would continue to advertise it until it was sold, and it would come up on the top 3 of any search engine. However, being skeptical I said sure if you could mail or email me a list of the services and advertisement sites you plan on using that you just described to me over the phone.... well that's when all hell broke loose.... and they had me check out their website and read their blanket agreement online and do everything but send me a contract or description of exactly where, how long, and how many websites / ads they planned on marketing my vehicle. The only way they would divulge that information was in an invoice that I would get only after I paid them my $499 non-refundable. They just seemed shady especially if they do not offer their to-be customers with a solid assurance of where their money is going to be used towards and it is non-refundable. Has anyone here ever sold or bought a car from One Stop Motors and if so how did it go? Has anyone here even heard of One Stop Motors. more

Resolved Question: We are trying to open up a painting company and cant get no one to quote?

Hi long story short. We just moved from British Columbia to Toronto area, because i had my daughter and wanted to be closer to my family. My boyfriend was a professional painter in BC for years. As we moved to a slightly high class area where people `have money,` we thought that him opening up a painting company was fool proof and would take off immidiatley. NOW we are having trouble paying rent and buying food, with another baby due in 2 months and don`t know what else to do to advertise. There is NOT to much competition at all in this town. He did get a few small jobs from my dads friends in the area but it is not enough. The things we have done to advertise are: Flyers and magnetic cards on mail boxes as they are the multi ,ail boxes one for each street. Put a add in the local paper. Handed in cards to the local paint store. Got magnets to advertise on the side if the car. Drove around and looked for homes that needed painting and knocked on there doors to hand them a card. We still get no calls to quote. With the flyers we put up there are at least 5 of the phone number tabs riped off each one and we placed about 100 around town. What more can we do we just dont understand. more

Voting Question: How Can i get my money Back for a used car i financed that is unsafe and defective?

I have purchased a dark blue 2006 Dodge Magnum in December of 2009 from North Coast Auto in Bedford Ohio. The car was found online and myself and my boyfriend worked with a John to make this car mine. It was advertised to have a new engine, keyless entry, tinted windows, clean interior, ect. A used car in excellent condition, sold for the bb value of excellent condition. John also informed us that while he was holding the car for us he noticed a crack in the windshield so he had that replaced. We had gone to the dealership the middle of December and put $400.00 down then arranged to take $2600.00 later to pick up the car. We had taken the rest of the down payment the end of December and the car was still not ready they told us. Then after about two more attempts to go pick up the car at a time that was convenient for me and my work schedule, TaRodd and I made it up there, John said it would be ready that morning. I called him multiple times and he ignored the calls so I left a voice message stating that I would be there at noon because I had to be at work at 1:30pm. The last time we spoke he said it would be ready as he said in the morning. Once we got there he looked a little surprised and said it would be one more hr, that they were finishing the detailing. He had me sign the papers, I didn’t feel comfortable signing the paperwork without seeing the car other than online but he assured me that if anything was wrong with the car we would shred the paper work and refund the down payment. Tarodd and I then waited and at 1pm I had to call in to my job and use 2hours of my paid time off so that it would not affect me attendance because the car was still not ready. We kept waiting and then I had to leave for work and they said that Tarodd could stay and look at the car and bring it to me and if I find anything wrong I can take it back. Well Tarodd didn’t leave the dealership until 8:45pm after they had closed. They then gave him the keys and left. Driving Back To Akron TaRodd then noticed that the engine light had popped on, he called john’s cell, to tell him what happened an that it needed fixed but was only able to leave a message. Once I got off work we noticed that some of the nuts on the outside of the hubcaps were missing also that the hatch back door did not hold itself up. Then it snowed and we noticed that something else wasn’t right and moisture was inside and the defogger was not working. We had to snow scrap the inside of the windows while driving or I wouldn’t be able to see outside. Then the check engine light came on, and the control arms were wobbling and would cause the car to jerk around. While these things were happening Tarodd and me were calling Jon and leaving messages demanding he called me back and that the car was unsafe to drive. When he did answer he apologized and assured me that the car would be fixed completely and told me that he hadn’t called me back because he gave my number to Bronco from North East Auto who was the garage that fixed their vehicles, and that he was supposed to have called me, but didn’t. He said he would call Bronco again and he gave me his number as well so that I could call him if I did not hear from him by the next day. When I did have to call Bronco the next day because he did not call me all he said was to bring up the car and he would fix it, but when I asked how long it would take he would not answer and said just drop it off. I asked when to bring the car he kept telling me to drop it off before 7:30pm but I worked until 10pm every night. I explained that to him and so did Tarodd and he then said have Tarodd drop it off. Tarodd drove up there the first time and they kept it 1 week and didn’t do anything except reset the check engine light and told him to bring it back on the weekend so they could finish fixing everything. So then 1 day after he got it back, prior to taking it back on the weekend, the check engine light came on and the car was still emitting lots of black smoke when it would get on the high way and when I would increase speed on the high way. It was clear when it snowed that nothing was done the week they had it because the windshield was still leaking. Then on the weekend Tarodd again dropped the car off on his way to class and they had it 8hours and when it was picked up they told Tarodd that they had to order parts and that they would need it for another week. Well we got the car and told them this is ridiculous and that they need to get everything together because this is a bigger hassle than needed. We then left multiple messages on Broncos and Jon’s phone requesting a call back regarding when they had all the parts. No one ever called us back. Then it was time to get new plates and I hadn’t gotten an E-check because the check engine light was on and would not pass so Tarodd and I drove up and told them we were on our way. Once we got there Bronco asked us to make a list of things needed done so we quickly wrote done the major  more

Resolved Question: Does Carmax honor their Maxcare warranty?

I bought a car from carmax with this Maxcare warranty they kept boasting about it which seem like a great idea since the car I purchased was used. I went to start my car after many attempts it was clear the car would not start it acted like it was out gas even though there was gas and I took the car 16 days after purchase with it not starting and the issue with no gas was not flowing they said it was spark plugs were flooded. Next break down less then 30 days I called the carmax I purchased it from ( Nashville TN) Carmax send a tow check which they provided at their cost. Next carmax indicate the car had a blown head gasket and Valve Cover Gasket would also need to be replaced as well. My car has been at carmax almost 2 weeks with they cannot get ahold of the company who underwrote the Maxcare policy and therefore will not fix my car. If 2 weeks pass they cannot get ahold of them up to this point, is there reason to suspect they ever will ? In the mean time I am without car and it looks like Carmax is hoping I will wear down and pay for the repairs myself. Two weeks seems enough time to get an answer from the carmax extented service warranty policy I paid over a thousand dollars for.My question what are the next steps I can take ? This is deceptive advertising or otherwise deceived me the customer. more

Voting Question: Is 78,000 Miles in a car to much? First car.?

Hey, i am thinking about buying a Vauxhall Corsa, 1999. It has done 78,000 miles and i am a bit worried. Is that to much? The car has a few scratches, and it's only advertised for £699. So i guess you get what you pay for. What would you advise? MOT is due in September too, thanksThanks, worried because It's all my money! Took a lot of time to get this. The guy claims it's only been him to own it, and one other lady driver. It looks decent, but going to see it tomorrow. more

Resolved Question: Should I take H&R Block to court?

I had a baby in November 2009. Since my boyfriend got his W-2 before me (in January), we decided to let him claim our son and have H&R Block do his taxes so we could get a RAPID refund. The preparer didn't know what he was doing. He ended up opting him out of the Earned Income Credit (without asking), typing in 2 months for the amount of time our son was "living in the home" for 2009 and accidentally checked 'yes' for the question "Did this person make more than $3500 in 2009?". When he was all finished he told us my boyfriend's refund would be about 900 dollars. I thought something was wrong, but didn't say anything and took his word for it. We paid for the rapid loan and we were expecting to get the money on our card within 2 days. I told my mother, who has been doing my taxes for years and never made a single mistake, and she pointed out that we were, in fact, supposed to get the EIC and Child Tax Credit. She got online and printed out the Publication from the IRS's website stating that if a child was born in 2009, you put 12 months, regardless of what month they were born in. They called my boyfriend 6 days later and told him there was a hold on the card and he had to come back up there to sign a paper to take the money off hold. We went back up there and showed them the mistake they made and ask that they amend them. The manager fixed it and gave us the forms to mail out and we asked if we still had to pay the fee they charged us to do this. He stated that we still have to pay the fee because that money is going to them for filing it originally. Yet H&R Block has the "Maximum Refund Guarantee" which states that if they don't give you your maximum refund you're entitled to, the tax preparation is free. We called the headquarters and even they are refusing to give us the money back. We mailed off the amended form and we are STILL waiting to get the check in the mail. We really needed that money to get our air conditioning fixed in our only car, not to mention we have a 6 month old and its 80 degrees outside in Virginia Beach right now. My question is should I take them to court? Why should we have to pay them for something THEY screwed up? I'm really not trying to make a big deal out of this, but this is just ridiculous and not fair. In my eyes, its false advertising for them to make a promise and not live up to it. more

Resolved Question: Summer Business Ideas for 16 year old who needs money.?

I will be turning 17 in July. I have recently been absquatulated from my part time job. I want to open my own business when I am an adult and see this as an opportunity to develop my entrepreneurial skills. I have thought of these already: Car Wash: I cant rent any space to do a car wash and I don't think it looks good to ask to use the clients water supply due to the fact that I will have to go door to door. Yard Work: Its incredibly unfortunate that I am so allergic to spring and summer time, because I do not mind doing yard work, but it gets hard to plant flowers and cut grass when my eyes are watering so bad I cant see. Baby Sitting: I'm looking for a more professional job other than baby sitting and I think most parents have baby sitters and don't plan on switching just for the summer. Online Source: I have looked online to make money, and each one turns out to be a scam. I am so sick of people suggesting online surveying or "click ads and make money". SO NO ONLINE SOURCES! Dog walking is an option, although maybe as a last resort. House cleaning/ pet sitting: I don't think many people who go on summer vacations would trust a 16 year old male to watch their house. Advertising for small businesses: I thought that maybe I could contact small businesses around my community and offer to hand out flyer's for them at a cost. ANY OTHER IDEAS ARE EXPECTED! Brainstorm all you can! Quantity not quality! I need a way to make money this summer in order to pay for my gym membership which I am on a contract for another 8 months, as well as my cell phone, due to the fact that few, including my own family have telephones anymore. more

Resolved Question: I think I'm going to be homeless in 2 weeks...husband plays xbox all day...advice?

I was working full time as a nursing assistant and my husband was working in sales. my husband got laid off, and our income supported us for awhile, but then I got laid off. We survived on savings for 2 months while I applied everywhere for jobs...I put in probably over 100 applications in 1 months time. My husband meanwhile decided he didn't feel like applying for a job. He has spent all day long playing xbox for 2 months and put in maybe 4 applications and never even called back. Now we have $150 in the bank and $700 in bills due and can't pay our rent. I have a lot of experience in childcare so I've been putting out flyers and advertising on myspace for $125 a week for 1 kid and $175 for two a week and I offered to take up to 6 kids total. So far only one person has inquired and that was yesterday and she hasn't called back yet. I am about to pawn my engagement ring off just to pay the rent. I'm scared to death. I also think I'm pregnant. I don't understand why he is doing this he always supported me but now he isn't trying at all. We have nowhere to go none of our family can take us. I can't even put gas in the car. We maxed out our credit card. I even went to one of those places to give plasma for money. I've been doing everything I can but we are in serious trouble. What can I do? I have pretty much given up. more

Voting Question: Open an office - have basic questions?

I'm about to (or at least hope to) open my own office soon. I'm wanting to start small with technology, mainly a 2 or 4-line phone. My question is maybe simple, but I'm used to the in-house switchboard operated multi-lines, but I'm not in a position yet to need, nor be ready for that type of investment. My question is this: If I get either 2- or 4-line phones (probably 4 just to be expandable in the future without new equipment) and have lines hooked up to them, will I need to publish/advertise each number as an office number or can they be set up to have one "master number" that will ring the 2nd line if the main line is in use? And the same basic question for 4-line. If this can't be done with a "traditional" landline, could it be done with a VoIP system set to simulring? My second question is that office furniture is VERY expensive (at least as a startup) but also, at least in my opinion, very important since the customers first impression will be how your office looks. So, are there any places that rent/lease professional office furniture cheaply enough to make it worth not going ahead and buying it? I'm going to be in need of at least one desk for my office, a reception desk and one other desk for the front office, plus chairs for all of those, chairs for customer waiting, and customer chairs in the office(s). Also needed will be file storage, decorative/functional furnishings (bookcases/display cases/hutches), and all of that is going to cost a few months worth of earnings to buy outright - which as stated would be a huge strain initially. If anyone knows of a reputable, and cheap rental/lease company that would actually service SW Indiana it'd be appreciated (since the things I have found are Indy/St. Louis/Nashville). Other questions include how much should I budget for signing - which the space I've selected will only have door graphic signage, and a 18"x12" road sign space available if I desire. Sorry for all the questions, but I don't want to push myself into moving into my own office space if I'm going to jump in over my head. I *think* I've got the budget pretty well down - the space is $450, electric is around $50/mo, so I've got the bare basics, but if I'm going to be spending more than I'm bringing in it's not feasable. I should add I'm guaranteed $1500/mo for at least 6 months, plus my own income. But, I'm trying to budget for no more than $900 of that per month, since I've obviously got my own personal things to pay as well. I can stay in the office I have now - but I have no personal signage, and share an office building (and shared phone system) with 4 other people also making commission - so getting calls is like being a chicken in the alligator enclosure. I'm also going to have to pay $200/mo to stay there - with only a basement cubicle, and no personal phone line, no ability to set my own VM message @ my extension because the office manager is cheap and that requires the phone company to change, and drive about 60 miles/day round trip 5-6 days per week (appx $40/week in fuel + general maintenance). Obviously the private office will be a little more up front, but will save about 300 miles/week on my car, and allow for less competition over incoming calls and walk-ins. OK, think I'm done rambling. Thanks all! more

Resolved Question: Have you met Joe Republican?

The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor. It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Resolved Question: How do I find a local company with a company car I can drive?

I've seen people drive around in cars that advertise for certain companies, and I know that you can get paid to do this. My question is, how would I go about finding a local company that would happen to have a company car I can drive? I don't want to advertise on my own car, but rather drive a pre-decorated car. If I look on Craigslist, what category does this type of "job" fall under? As much help as possible would be great! Details: I am 19, I drive to and from school mon-thursday, and work in another city on the weekends, plus running any errands I need to run. I have a clean driving record, never been in a wreck, never had a ticket, etc. I don't smoke, either. I'm looking for companies in the orange county, CA area. more

Resolved Question: WHAT KIND OF SICK PERSON COULD DO THIS?

ok so this is how the story starts......... last sunday i notice a add on a classified adds website which was advertising a free car 2008 renault megane only 6000 miles the lot! (sounds to good to be true at this point) anyway i sent an email with my phone number then about 40 minutes later got a phone call from a lady who explained that the car is her 84 year old mothers who had throat cancer and had 3 months left to live and was on medication and could no longer drive because of the medication etc, i was talking to the lady for almost an hour she told me lots of things about her family even about her grandaughter who had chicken pox, i am convinced she was genuine she seemed a lovely person. i told her about me and my 3 kids and that i needed a car because i didnt have one and the reason for that was because my husband left in october and took the car and i couldnt offord to buy one, she took pitty on me and told me that the car was mine not only that but she would pay for my inurance and road tax for 5 years untill i get back on my feet (i couldnt thank her enough) she even said they will fill the tank with petrol before they brought it to my house! i was shocked and said "i cannot belive you are just giving me a car"! she said well my mum doesnt need it and she would rather give it to someone who needs it rather than sell it because she is pretty well off and worth almost 9 million £'s (the area they are from is full of very rich people) so i didnt doubt it i was crying at this point! i told her that it was my little boys birthday the following week and i said how much it will mean to him for us to be able to go out on his birthday (something we couldnt do without a car) he wanted to go to the sealife centre about 50 miles from where i live, she even said "just think next week you will have the car to take the kids to school instead of having to walk" we agreed that she would drop the car off on saturday (today) and she asked me to email her my address which i did! she replied and said she is very happy to be able to give me the car, the last i heard was a email on monday that said i will call you on saturday morning to arrange delivery of your car, happy driving! they even deleted the add and replaced it with annother add that thanked everyone for their interest but the car had been rehomed! during the conversation she gave me her mobile phone number which i kept and stored in my phone, i emailed on friday to find out if they had any idea of what time they had in mind for delivering the car (as i had to arrange my day around them comming) when i got no reply from the email i tried to call the mobile number but it said the number was wrong, i tried calling 3-4 times but it just wasnt connecting saturday morning has come and gone and no phone call, its now 12.41pm and i still havent heard from them and i think that my suspicions of this being some sick practical joke are confirmed, i think it was so cruel what they did, leaving me and my kids to look forward to getting a car for a full week so unfair! now i have to explain to them that there is no car and i have to tell my little boy who is only 4 that he cant go to the sealife centre now! hes going to be gutted! i was sooo sure she was genuine and i still am sure she was but i think maybe they changed their mind so not fairLIZZIE- why would you say that? more

(sounds to good to be true at this point) anyway i sent an email with my phone number then about 40 minutes later got a phone call from a lady who explained that the car is her 84 year old mothers who had throat cancer and had 3 months left to live and was on medication and could no longer drive because of the medication etc, i was talking to the lady for almost an hour she told me lots of things about her family even about her grandaughter who had chicken pox, i am convinced she was genuine she seemed a lovely person. i told her about me and my 3 kids and that i needed a car because i didnt have one and the reason for that was because my husband left in october and took the car and i couldnt offord to buy one, she took pitty on me and told me that the car was mine not only that but she would pay for my inurance and road tax for 5 years untill i get back on my feet (i couldnt thank her enough) she even said they will fill the tank with petrol before they brought it to my house! i was shocked and said "i cannot belive you are just giving me a car"! she said well my mum doesnt need it and she would rather give it to someone who needs it rather than sell it because she is pretty well off and worth almost 9 million £'s (the area they are from is full of very rich people) so i didnt doubt it i was crying at this point! i told her that it was my little boys birthday the following week and i said how much it will mean to him for us to be able to go out on his birthday (something we couldnt do without a car) he wanted to go to the sealife centre about 50 miles from where i live, she even said "just think next week you will have the car to take the kids to school instead of having to walk" we agreed that she would drop the car off on saturday (today) and she asked me to email her my address which i did! she replied and said she is very happy to be able to give me the car, the last i heard was a email on monday that said i will call you on saturday morning to arrange delivery of your car, happy driving! they even deleted the add and replaced it with annother add that thanked everyone for their interest but the car had been rehomed! during the conversation she gave me her mobile phone number which i kept and stored in my phone, i emailed on friday to find out if they had any idea of what time they had in mind for delivering the car (as i had to arrange my day around them comming) when i got no reply from the email i tried to call the mobile number but it said the number was wrong, i tried calling 3-4 times but it just wasnt connecting saturday morning has come and gone and no phone call, its now 12.41pm and i still havent heard from them and i think that my suspicions of this being some sick practical joke are confirmed, i think it was so cruel what they did, leaving me and my kids to look forward to getting a car for a full week so unfair! now i have to explain to them that there is no car and i have to tell my little boy who is only 4 that he cant go to the sealife centre now! hes going to be gutted! i was sooo sure she was genuine and i still am sure she was but i think maybe they changed their mind so not fairthe doyan - i didnt give them my kids names im not THAT stupidnor did they get my 2nd name or bank details, surely if it was identity theft she would of took my full name date of birth, driving licence number (for the purpose of insuring the car) but she didnt more

Resolved Question: How do I get paid to have a company advertise on my car? I drive 4000 miles a month for work?

I live in the central valley california and I am an inspector for gas tanks and drive ALL over the middle of the state....from sacramento to fresno and bay area to the foothills. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to companies that pay for advertisements to be put on my car...I am a perfect candidate. I know they exist but the internet is full of scams. Any help would be appreciated. more

Resolved Question: Help with resume - Describing and listing responsibilities/accomplishments?

I was the manager at a pre-owned dealership from Jan-Nov 09. I'm having some difficulty listing my job responsibilities and accomplishments--please have a look and offer some input... Filed and organized paperwork Verified client applications and information Determined eligibility of in house financing Processed payment information (down payments) and collected monthly car notes Advertised new cars and sales as well as general business - online and by flyer Attended auctions with owner to purchase new lot vehicles, helped appraise vehicles. (I wasn't terribly great at appraising) Give pay to mechanics Renegotiate with buyer after vehicle re-possession Notify buyers by telephone and mail of late car notes and possible re-possession. The lot was quite small, we would have a total of maybe 10-15 cars on site and we would sell about 8/10 per month. I personally sold a few by "accident" but listing that doesn't seem appropriate because it wasn't necessarily my job to be a salesgirl and I didn't use any special technique. So of those cars we had to repossess 1-2 every few months. Of those cars I was able to get the cars back to the buyer by settling on late payments and arranging a more suitable future payment (lot owner approved, of course). And for those cars that weren't repossessed but late on payments I always managed to get them to pay within 12-24hrs of speaking to them. I would say about 80% of the clients I determined in house financing for were good, on time, clients. How in the world do I list this properly? more
