Hi. I am starting my own Internet asset firm. My firm will buy or build websites, fix them up (by adding content, marketing, etc.) and bring in more revenue from the sites, then sell the websites for profit after six months. To start my companies portfolio, I would like to build my own website. I have two different options, but I need help deciding which is more profitable than the other. I can only start one now. After making some revenue from this one site, and then selling it, I will be able to afford growing the companies' portfolio of web businesses. 1. I would start a website like Linkedin, but with a better approach on creating a more realistic business to business experience. I will be purchasing the script for $800. I have already seen a basic demo, and it literally has everything. They even offer the option to have your site custom designed. It has every feature of Linkedin, and more. I would make money by having a free and premium levels, ads on the site, and employer listing fees to list a job opening. 2. A web service like pay pal. Again, the script is $800. The script is okay, but is very, very basic. There is no real difference from pay pal. I'm not even sure why someone would use me instead of pay pal. However, the only reason I'm looking at it, is because every transaction makes me money. So it could be more profitable then the first site. However, I'm thinking of going with the first site, because in the long run, it would be able to sell for a lot more, since it comes with tons of features, and hopefully, users. Open Question: Opinions on Rehoming fees... To charge, or not to charge... To pay, or not to pay... Your thoughts...?

Please read carefully, and thoroughly before making presumptions or conclusions... Whenever I search online to adopt a pet, I see there are numerous owners who think that charging a rehoming fee is within the best interest of their animals. My problem with rehoming fees, is that there are so many people out there who give up on, or neglect on their priorities, and even their investments... that, or some people are just out to do whatever it takes to make a quick buck, whether it means risk of temporary investment, or not. I understand that owners want to make sure their animals go to good homes and to responsible people with good intentions. How does a rehoming fee assure the owner that their pet is going to be taken care of? Where do people get that idea? For example, let's say that you're someone who's financially stable, or even wealthy. No one knows who you are, or what you do for a living. You're browsing the web one day, and you see an online ad for a dog that catches your attention. You contact the owner, meet them, and you're willing to pay the rehoming fee mentioned in the ad. The owner sees that you look nice in appearance, after you step out of your vehicle, which also looks more than decent. You seem nice, friendly, and appropriate, so they accept your offer, and you take the dog away. But here's the catch, NO ONE knows who you are, or what you do for a living. And NO ONE knows how much money you make, just as NO ONE knows what you plan on doing after you take away the pet. Turns out that you're either an animal breeder, who makes big bucks, or you're a dog fighter, which either way makes you a greedy snake. So the previous owner is confident that his/her former pet is in good hands, but little do they know about who you really are. You win, they "think" they win cuz you paid a small fee, and you get your money back, and then some, one way or another, by using your newly acquired pet to attain those desired funds for you. Sneaky bastard... Now, if I ever had to give up one of my pets for whatever circumstance, and I wanted to make sure that my pet was going to be cared for, I'd just ask that a check or a simple money order be made out to a shelter or an animal rescue organization, and handed to me, so I could make sure that it got delivered immediately. I'd wait for funding to clear with such organizations first, before relinquishing ownership of my pet. If you're one of those organizations and you're charging adoption fees, that I can understand, because they make sure the pets are fed, bathed, vaccinated, and are properly treated for any kinds of medical conditions, that which requires funding to remain active. If I was a buyer on the other hand, I would NOT receive an animal from someone charging a rehoming fee "just so they can make sure my that family is responsible." That's ridiculous, as it wouldn't prove a damn thing. Instead, I'd offer a personal check be made out to a shelter or a rescue group, and hand it out to the owner, to give to said group, since personal checks are safe, and can be traced. If the owner is truly honest about making sure I'm a good person who's capable of paying expenses for the pet, then they shouldn't have a problem accepting such offer. If they deny your offer, it's obvious that they just wanted to sell their pet for money. What honest buyer would want to write a check to a shelter just to let it bounce, or let their account be overdrawn just to obtain an animal...? And what honest owner would give up their pet just to make some money...? No one would. An honest buyer would be willing to prove responsibility, and an honest owner would be willing to accept that they should NOT be selling their pet, since that is just wrong. Am I delusional for thinking this...? Your thoughts....?To the first person who answered: Right, that's kind of what I was saying, just not in those words. It's a shame that the best things in life that are supposed to be free, can be exploited for selfishness or horrifying sickness. Alright, I open an Internet Web Browser as usual, with my home page google and I type in anything from facebook to yahoo answers to addicting games to yahoo to MLB and I click on the links to open the site up problems happen. Now it doesn't want to open whatever site I want and instead it starts to load a bunch of crap, from some directory t some random search engine like thing to some site with numbers in the name and it's a bunch of advertising crap. I am aways careful at what I download and have some of the more recent updated versions of AVG, Ad-Aware and Spy-Bot, and I don't think I got anything bad, but I feel it is most likely a virus/Spam. What my question is has anyone else had this happen to them and stopped it? If so how? Is it a virus/Spam or just some clerical error? Does Microsoft have something to isolate this problem and it's an easy fix, or is this something complicated? more

Open Question: i need to speed up my computer, please help, what should i do?

i did all the maintenance... rearrange files, clean up, registry clean up, ad aware, run antivirus, etc. and it takes like 5 minutes to open a web page. the CPU usage is only 5 or 10 percent, yet it is so slow. and if i use more than one program it might take up to 30 mins to open internet explorer. i feel like running over this computer with my truck. i use hibernating because stand by won't work. it wakes up in seconds. is it hibernating what slows down my computer?? more

Resolved Question: Yahoo mail suspended?

Hi.. Please help me. Last night, I googled my e-mail ad as I had learnt that you can trace your web activities if do so. Then after checking my mail few minutes later, I decided to google one of my colleagues email ad who had sent me a mail. I did not find anything. The thing is that after I cleared my browsing history, I went to the Yahoo login page, and just pressed Ctrl+V, thinking that I was pasting my own address which I had copied before. Instead, I pasted my colleague's e-mail ad(didn't notice it then) and put my password. As it did not work, I decided to answer my secret question. I created my email ad five years ago, so I did not even remember the question nor the answer. The problem is I tried to answer the secret question several times, and everytime I failed. It is only when the account got suspended, that I noticed that the e-mail ad was wrong. Now, I'm worried and want to know if my colleague complaint to yahoo will yahoo investigate into this matter? Or without any complaint will Yahoo investigate into this matter? Can I get into trouble? It was just an error. Please help me, I'm worried. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Antimalware Doctor virus problems?

So, I had a drive-by download happen and it downloaded the rouge virus disguised as a virus scanner named Antimalware Doctor. That program is no longer active and has been removed, but as it goes, more problems are occurring with my computer. I've removed several files, ran AVG scan in Shell mode, as well as Ad-Aware in Safe Mode and in regular mode. I've also removed its several registry entries that were present (via HijackThis) as well as deleting the actual files (.dll's, .exe's) after I stopped the process in task manger and disabling it's startup and removing it's registry keys. Now, my computer crashes (not exactly sure what is crashing it) and the blue screen is telling me several options on what it might be, but I'm almost certain it's a device driver that is corrupted by the virus, or the virus itself. Right now, i'm in regular operating mode and it has yet to crash. The reason I think this is, is because I killed 3 processes running that I don't recognize. One was run by the Network, another by the System, and another by my account log-on. I'm getting random redirects in my web-browser as well, such as when I click a link like say, in google, it'll take me to a random page. I also had to reset my LSP Stack using LSPfix, also removing a rouge protocol handler. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on this situation. I know my computer is still infected but just not sure how to delete these files that are starting up. MSConfig doesn't show these files for start-up. more

Basically if i go on google when i click on a result it wont go to the page i want. The web page gets hijacked and it'll go on a page that has nothing to do with what i clicked on. The web page goes on "search pro" or "googlesyndication" and viagra ads :( This has been driving me crazy for months and i need to get it sorted. I have AVG Anti-virus and Avira Anti-virus they are both free, i use them every couple of days and they are not sorting out this problem as its been months. I need advice, what do i do? more

I just got a brand new Compaq Presario CQ62. The only problem I'm having with it is sometimes if I click on a link to take me to another page it seems it's trying to redirect the page. Instead of saying what site I'm at on the tab it will show the URL and the page will go white and in the loading corner at the bottom it will say something like transferring data to google analytic or just google analytic. Another problem, I don't know if it's related, is sometimes I can be browsing a web page and then it will suddenly redirect me to an AD page. I'm running on the latest version of Mozilla Firefox and on Windows 7.I did some more research and i guess it's just an error in the latest update of firefox, so I just downloaded an older version of firefox and it's working fine. more

I got an email from a web design company who are interesting in a link on the front page of my website. I'm thinking of charging monthly for a bit of advertising space, right? My site gets around 700 - 800 views a day (22,000 in the last month). According to Google Webmaster Tools, I got 301,000 impressions from Google searches (from 1st July - 1st August 2010). So adds like from a video keep playing in without any web browser open. Lysol adds, and other things keep playing. Also, my computer keeps clicking elsewhere on the computer like its opening another program, but its not. I have used Ad-Aware, and Norton and both have not picked up anything. Resolved Question: HELP!!!! virus trouble!?

hey 2 days ago i got a blue screen saying something like your computer is shutting down to prevent any damage from happening to your computer. so i shut my PC down and then turned it back on in normal mode. everything is working fine i can play games, web , videos etc etc. and i did a full scan with (spyware doctor). it found 4 rogue virus called Trackware.Tracking cookies!rem and Application.TrackingCookies .i removed them then just being safe i did a quick scan just to make sure it was for sure gone. well i did the second scan and it found it again. and it worried me like i just removed it how is it still there. so then i did more scans etc etc. it comes then goes its like it reinstalls itself everytime u remove it. i downloaded malwarebytes' anti-malware it ran scan found some virus's. i removed them it said everything is clear well i did a 2nd check its still there. and i know at this point its a type were it reinstalls itself everytime, i also know its the ones where they collect ur info and give it to web sites because even before i came across this virus i would get ads that partained to my interest es like for example i bench and thats all i see are weightlifting ads everytime im on the web :(. so yhea at this point i dont know what else to do i figure ill go do some research on the web and put a question on yahoo answers. like i said i got my pc running normaly as if nothing has happnened all the firewalls and window defender is on. i got spyware doctor and the new thing i downloaded (malwarebytes' anti-malware). but everytime i remove it its still there.... any help would be most appreciated!!!1 thx, ppl more

I do some web design here and there as a hobby, and make rather extensive use of JavaScript in a lot of my projects. It seems like the age-old problem with this is that some people apparently disable JavaScript while normally browsing the web, and so when possible I try to make workarounds for users without JavaScript. Sometimes, however, it's just not possible. Now, I've heard lots of reasons for disabling JavaScript. Security, which I suppose I can see, despite the fact that I doubt many sites are using JavaScript keyloggers or the like, and those that are are likely riddled with far more severe security risks. Disabling of advertisements seems to be a prevailing theory as well, though there are an awful lot of non-JavaScript ads, ranging from images, to flash objects, to text ads, not to mention a whole range of adblockers available that wouldn't impair the functionality side of JavaScript. Don't get me wrong, I've disabled JavaScript before, on a site-by-site basis when I find it irksome, and when testing websites I've designed. I've also been on mobile browsers without JavaScript functionality. But it seems to me illogical to disable it on a supporting browser for general browsing. Furthermore, I don't think I've met anyone who /does/ disable it, making me wonder where all the people who do are lurking. I've heard they're out there, but I kind of have to wonder if they all live in the same town somewhere in the middle of North Korea, because I've certainly not come across them. So, then... does anyone here globally disable JavaScript? more
