I just got in a car accident 3 days ago. The other car was crossing traffic and crossed right in front of me so i t-boned her. (I had a Pontiac G6 she had a Ford F150) It totaled my car and i am so sore. I didn't go to the ER after the accident because i didn't feel the need i just ended up going to the doctor the next day. I have whiplash and my lower back hurts terribly and the pain medicine they gave me doest even help. I don't want to be one of those money crazed people who just sue to sue but im in alot of pain and probably will be for awhile. What should i do? more

Open Question: Driving from San Diego to Los Angeles?

I'm in San Diego right now and am planning on going to Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park on Monday. The park opens at 10 AM, and we will be leaving Monday morning. I know traffic is going to be terrible, but what is the best time/route to get to LA from SD on a Monday morning if I want to arrive there around 10 AM?And I'm well aware that Knott's is in Buena Park, not actually LA. I'm referring to the drive to LA on Interstate 5 because that is the route I'll be taking. more

Open Question: Is it legal for an officer to shine a spotlight in your face while you are driving?

While driving yesterday, an officer took the liberty to flash his spotlight in my face for a good 30 seconds. I asked him what the problem was and he told me to turn my music down. My question is, considering the fact that after a few seconds I was nearly blinded by the light, is it legal for an officer to flash his spotlight on you while driving down a road (especially just to tell you to turn your music down - which I might add wasn't loud to begin with). This seems like it would be hazardous to traffic, due to the fact that I could barely see after he had done this. I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it had he pulled over and I was not driving, but it took my concentration off the road and made it difficult to see for a few minutes. more

Open Question: What do you think Arizona's immigration law reflects years of anger?

PHOENIX — As the days tick down until the Arizona immigration law takes effect, the state stands as a monument to the anger over illegal immigration that is present in so many places. The anger has been simmering for years, and erupted into a full-blown fury with the murder of a prominent rancher on the border earlier this year. The killing became a powerful rallying cry for immigration reform and the sweeping new law set to take effect Thursday, barring any last-minute legal action. But it does not tell the whole story about how Arizona got to this point. Turn on the evening news in Arizona and some report reflecting the state's battle with illegal immigration will likely flash across the screen. A drop house crammed with illegal border-crossers smack in the middle of a suburban neighborhood. Traffic patrols and workplace raids that net the arrest of dozens of illegal immigrants, often in heavily Hispanic communities. Politicians speaking venomously about border violence and the leech of immigration costs on the state treasury. Along the streets, Arizonans see day laborers near Wal-Mart and Home Depot parking lots, waiting for work. In some Phoenix-area neighborhoods, Spanish is so predominant both in spoken word and signage that residents complain they feel like they're in a foreign country. Then rancher Robert Krentz was gunned down in March while checking water lines on his property near the border. Authorities believe — but have never produced substantive proof — that an illegal immigrant, likely a scout for drug smugglers, was to blame. Almost immediately Krentz came to symbolize what's at stake with illegal immigration. Politicians quickly connected the dots, but everyday folks also spoke with anger and fear about the rancher's death. "You can't ignore the damage and the costs to the taxpayers and the disrespect that comes with it and those who think they have a right to break our laws," says Russell Pearce, the fiery state senator who wrote Arizona's new immigration law. Pearce, in fact, is the godfather of anti-illegal immigration sentiment in Arizona and author of many of the tough laws. He regularly depicts illegal immigration as an "invasion." He can tick off the names of police officers killed or wounded by criminals in the country illegally. One of those names is that of his son, Maricopa County Sheriff's Deputy Sean Pearce, who survived a gunshot wound to the abdomen from an illegal immigrant in 2004 while serving a search warrant in a homicide case. That might explain Pearce's indefatigable effort against those entering the country illegally, but he says he held tough views before his son was shot. He insists that his frustration centers more broadly on the crime that immigrant smugglers bring into the country and the financial stress that illegal border-crossers put on communities. Between 40 percent and 50 percent of all immigrant arrests each year on the U.S.-Mexico border are made in Arizona, according to the U.S. Border Patrol. And the annual costs? About $600 million for educating illegal immigrants at K-12 schools, more than $120 million for jailing illegal immigrants convicted of state crimes and as much as $50 million that hospitals have to eat for treating illegal border-crossers, according to figures provided by Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne, Gov. Jan Brewer's office and the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association. At Copper Queen Community Hospital, 4 miles north of the border in Bisbee, the emergency room sees one or two illegal immigrants every shift. Dr. Daniel Roe, the emergency-room medical director, says many come in with broken bones from jumping the 15-foot-tall border fence, others suffer from walking for days in the desert with little to no water, and others have been involved in car accidents. "It's very much part of our normal flow," he says. "But it demands resources. So it affects the operating budget." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nation/7124062.html more

Open Question: How much would this horse be worth?

10 year old registered QH mare. Excellent working bloodlines including Doc Bar, Poco Bueno, Skipper W, Cutter Bill. Sizzlin Hot. Sire was world champion in Reining and Working cow. Had ROMs in 10 events including WP, HJ, Reining ect. Dam never shown but both grandsires were rated all time leading sires list. And her sire & dam were producers. 14.3 hands. very nice conformation and is very very cute with extremely nice head. reining type, not halter or Western pleasure type. Extremely sound. Has never taken a lame step even with heavy work. Has never been sick. Has had a total of 6 months pro training Has been used extensively as a trail horse and goes on the streets with heavy traffic (including semi's and motorcycles) thru rivers ect. Rides well in groups or alone. Doesn't care where in the group she is in and goes out alone without any kind of fuss. Loves to be worked and ridden. On the extremely rare occasions when she is startled, she looks to rider for instructions and does not bolt or spin. She is very gentle and affectionate, but is not for a beginning rider as she sensitive and forward going and is dominate type mare and needs someone who she can respect. Has never offered to bite or kick or hurt anyone. Loves people. Comes when called even if it means leaving the herd, easy to halter and tack up. She can be completely tacked up without being tied up. She ties easily and is a nice horse to be around but can be a bit "pushy" to timid people in that she will enter their space. Trailers, ties, stands for farrier, all grooming, foot cleaning, tacking up ect can be done either tied or not tied and will stand perfectly still. Has started on cattle and loved it. Was used as turn back horse for cutting lessons. According to trainers she has the natural talent for reining, cow work, barrels or gymkana but has never been shown due to finances. Never been bred. http://www.flickr.com/photos/divapom/4740523073/in/photostream/ more

Open Question: I want to emmigrate from Scotland but not 100% where to?

I come from a small village in Scotland and I want to move abroad, preferably somewhere with an overall sunny and warm climate (but I can handle the cold I just don't like this almost eternal greyness we have in Scotland even during the summer. I'm going to be doing a tourism course at college so hopefully that will help. I've kind of narrowed it down to Australia, California or Canada ( I know that Canada is cold but I heard that they have good summers while in Scotland not so much and I just like the idea of living there). There's a lot to think about over choosing where and then if you should emigrate I just want some info on these 3 places. Would Australia and Canada be easier to move to because they're part of the British Commonwealth? Are Australia and California as good as they're meant to be? (I hear that Australians aren't so nice to immigrants. LA is meant to have a lot of crime, bad traffic, public transport and pollution) How expensive would it be to live there (I know I wouldn't be living right on a beach or somewhere like Santa Monica but I'm not wanting to move to some wasteland.) I've to study a language at college and I have an A at French and have done some Spanish obviously with Canada having French as an official language and California having a latin base it would be handy to learn 1 of these. But I'd prefer to do French would that be a huge waste if I moved to California and worked in Tourism? What's your thoughts on particular places i.e LA, San Diego, San Jose, Melbourne, Sydney Montreal, Toronto etc And Finally (I think) which place would be gay friendly (I know there is no guarantee of prejudice but you know what I mean) I know I'm asking a lot but if you have anything that would help me I would appreciate it a lot. more

Open Question: Tampa/Largo/Clearwater - quality of life, relocating?

Hello, I'm relocating to Tampa/Largo/Clearwater from California and and wondering what are the pros and cons of living there. Whats traffic like? Is it generally a nice place to live? I'm not concerned about it being overcrowded as I'm moving from the LA area. Has the oil spill effected the area badly? I'm not interested in nightlife and am not a college student so leave those details out, thanks. I will be working in the hospitality field, are there lots of resorts there? Open Question: Why are Koreans such mean people?

I have only met 2 nice Koreans and they are probably just Diamonds in the rough. Well, they seem very hot/short tempered so like even little things can get them very angry. I noticed a lot of the Korean girls seem to be a lot like Black and Latinas (Mosty mixed race latinas). I have seen also some South Koreans to be very arrogant, some don't even talk to people who are not Korean or Asian. If they talk to other people, it's usually white people because they think they are so rich. Notice I am have noticed like a similar pattern within most Korean people. I have looked around at Yahoo! Answers and saw some said that its mostly because of the heavy traffic, crowded areas, long hours of work and it's difficult to find a parking space. Others said that being a small country, it has been picked on by a lot of its large neighboring countries such as China, Japan, and Russia, also even USA. I think it could be this reason.I have seen the Japanese and Chinese people are a little more respectful than that. more

Open Question: Does this make any sense to you?

I dated my ex for almost 2 years, and in that two years we did so many things together. From road trips to see her friends, to spending time together at the beach, to meeting eachother's families. My ex and I had a some-what rough start to 2010, pressure from school and work made her tense, though I tried to comfort her and we had a minor argument over Valentine's day because of a scheduling conflict, but I apologized for anything said and we still had a decent night. In February, I admit to her, that because of a scholarship falling through, I had to take classes at another college for the spring semester and I didn't admit it before, because I was embarassed. She got upset and broke up with me but came back the next day. However, in March, I was on my way to her house and got caught in traffic. I text her saying "6-10 is clear huh?". She calls me back and asks if I am mad at her, I tell her "no, just bummed out that I'm stuck in traffic". But by the time I get to her house, I find her on the couch with arms folded. She sends me home and an hour later breaks up with me over the phone, stating that she didn't like my "tone of voice". We were best friends and so close for the longest time, we did so much together and even up until that morning, she told me she loved me and didn't want to lose me. What happened? it's been 4 months and she shut me out like I was nothing. She threw all the great things we did away so quickly and I don't know why. Supposedly she had trust issues from a past boyfriend cheating on her, but she knew I'd never do that. more

Open Question: I was thinking about buying a three family in either Newton Corner, MA or West Newton, MA.?

What area of Newton would have better capital appreciation, Newton Corner or West Newton? what is a resonable capitalization rate for a three or four family in newton? Would West Newton command higher rental rates than Newton Corner? Does Newton Corner have higher tenant vacancy rates than West Newton? My concern with Newton Corner is the overwhelming amount of traffic might put off potential tenants. West Newton seems to be a good area but not as close to restaurants and shops, but has a more residential feel than Newton Corner. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: SHOULD I GO FOR AN ABORTION?

After failing so many times for the father of my unborn child to communicate with me he finally emailed me after I email him to say that I am going to blow the lid off to his wife. Here is the extract of that email and tell me if I should go with what he wants me to do? Please help as I am about to lose my mind. Here is his email:- I didn't tell you the truth about my wife - in terms of I made out my relationship with her was worse than it was -that she was a right bitch which she wasn't. She is the kindest selfless compassionate person you could ever meet. Yes we had our arguments and problems in our marriage like everyone else. However my reason for leaving her to be with you is more complex than it seems..... I have been to the doctor, and it seems I'd been suffering from depression - as I have been very moody, get stressed out about the slightest thing ie traffic jams, my kids doing things etc - In my marriage, over the last 1 1/2 years if I'd an argument or my wife said things to me to annoy me in heat of the moment - I'd try and act as if i wasn't bothered, and bury them under the carpet, hoping they'd go away - you see she and I never really talked about things like that - she devoted herself to the kids, and I found myself getting less attention from her - but again my makeup was to bury it under the carpet. Then you and I started conversing, it felt great I romanced you by email, you responded and made me feel really good, so much so that I think I entered a mid-life crisis finding you exciting vibrant, and your attention addictive. I didn't really think anything of it til we met at Stirling, then after that well you know the rest, I had another argument, she accused me of ruining the peace in the household at which point as I went to bury it under the carpet, I saw all the other stuff there, finally cracked and announced I was leaving. I cant tell you how terrible it was to see her suffer the few weeks before I finally left, but I thought I was alright cos I was getting you. I can't really explain how this happened - to give up 20 years of marraige like that in that way was really bizarre - my only explanation can be mid-life crisis, depression which equals wrong frame of mind, coupled with at the back of my mind I'd have you. I never thought of my family, the impact it would have on their lives - or indeed yours - so theoretically I was being selfish - but I can honestly say I didn't see that at the time. Please don't misread my bluntness or ignoring you as intent to hurt you - it's not - it's my makeup - when I don't know how to deal with a problem I try to put it to the back of my mind hoping it'll go away. Onto your "suicide" attempt I am sorry I never believe it for a minute- I thought it was a stunt to get my attention cos you wanted to find out what you'd done wrong - don't blame yourself - you havent done anything wrong and I didn't intentionally do anything wrong either - My life is in such a mess as yours is too, and If you really are pregnant - I'm so so sorry - I thought that you were saying that to get back at me for the way I left you on the street with no roof over your hear - I hope that that was the reason, and that you are not pregnant - however if you are, I can't imagine what you are going through. It's not easy to say this and isn't meant to sound callous, but I don't think you'd be able to cope with the worry of it all on your own for 9 months, there is no us anymore - I'm so so sorry, and I hope you will consider a termination - horrible I know to even type that never mind say it - but it wouldn't be fair to bring a baby into the world under these circumstances - please consider this. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me for all the upset I've caused you, your family and your friends - and I hope you find true love and happiness and i'm sure you will. I also hope you can find it in your heart to let me go, and to as upsetting as it is for you, let me try and build the broken bridges with my family. Communication with my wife is hard - but we have talked - she doesn't know about you - she suspects there was someone else, and will be broken hearted if she finds there was - Maybe in your eyes I don't deserve any happiness, but she doesn't deserve to go through a whole lot of upset and humiliation again - can you not please find it in your heart of hearts to let me have an opportunity to get my family together, and learn from all this, and lots of things you've taught me how to become a better father and husband? Open Question: Can The Local Mechanic Install A Supercharger?

Well, I have 2 cars, one is a bmw 760li which has twin turbo's. and I have a Infiniti m45 no turbo. Open Question: Can you give me advice on becoming a Police Officer in California?

I live in Southern California. I've just recently turned 21 and I've also, separately realized my true interest for Law Enforcement. I thought I may be interested before and did a ride-along when I was 17. I then found a new interest in health & fitness and am currently studying Kinesiology in school. This entire time since I've been 18 though, I've had a unique Park Ranger/Security job at a theme park. I've basically been exposed to and gained experience with the closest thing to police work other than police work itself in addition to a few other types of work. I've written thousands of incident/injury reports, been trained and experienced in traffic control, been a major player in the apprehension of suspects, trained recruits, responded and dealt with many severe medical emergencies, fights, etc... I've realized that I enjoy law-enforcement type of work. It just kinda crept up on me. That's the bottom line. I just legitimately feel like it's my place. Another benefit is that I have no criminal history. I've never been arrested, convicted, accussed, etc... of anything and most importantly, I am not involved in criminal behavior. So unlike others, I have no reason to be nervous or concerned with background investigation. Unfortunately, here in Sothern California, there doesn't seem to be many LEO jobs available. Do you guys have any recommendations or advice for me? I've been trying to schedule ride-alongs but even those are more difficult to schedule since back when I was younger. I've been blown off several times. However, I've been persistent and I did successfully have one ride-along this past week that was very insightful. The officer that I rode along with suggested possibly volunteering or reserving for a department to get my foot in the door. However, I currently work full-time for security and go to school so I think I'd need to go the paid route from day 1 unless I was able to volunteer sporadically. Thanks for your advice and insight, I really appreciate it. more

Open Question: Do I have reason to be suspicious?

I am a fifteen-year-old girl. A few months ago we moved into a new house. Only recently have I started to become creeped out. There's a man who lives at the end of the street - two doors down, to be exact. Every morning when my mother leaves for work she says he's out in his garage, just sitting, watching the traffic. Usually, she drives past his house on her way to work (past him is the most efficient way in and out of the suburb). One day, she got annoyed, and drove the other way. She said she saw him come out and stand on the curb watching her drive away. When I leave for school, his garage is always open, and I can see him watching me. On Friday he came out of his house and stood on the curb, watching me walk up the street. I had my mirror out, and was surveying him as I walked. He was still there, as I cut onto the bush track and couldn't see him anymore. On my way home his garage was open, and he was watching me again. My mother had come home early and was standing out on the driveway, waiting for me. But he was still watching. And. as I left for my friend's place in her car, he was watching my then too. It was only just now that my mother told me that, after i had left, she had gone back inside and left our garage door open, and also the door that connects the garage to the actual house. She had been watching, and this man had stood on our driveway and peered into our garage, trying to look inside the house. A few weeks ago, I was out weeding the front garden. He came out, presumably to check his mail, and I saw him from the corner of my eye behind his fence watching me. I stopped what I was doing, kept my head down, still watching him, and counted in my head. It got to sixty seconds before he went back inside. He's always there, watching, every single time I leave or come home. I'm starting to great really nervous just stepping out my front door. He lives alone, as far as I know. He has two cars (not sure what for - maybe he likes fixing them? Who knows.) and never says anything. But, am I working myself up, or is this as creepy as it seems to be? What should I do about it? I have no grounds to contact the police because technically he has done nothing wrong. more

Open Question: Do you live in Alhambra? Red light camera?

Hi! Are there any red light cameras at the intersection of Fremont & Commonwealth in Alhambra, CA? I was turning left but as I was driving, the yellow arrow for left turns was gone right away so it was supposed to be left turn yield on green light and there was opposing traffic so I was supposed to stop. I usually do but I was distracted. There is a small pinhole looking thing next to the signal light, but it doesn't look like a red light camera and those small pinhole looking things are on many streets. I am worried although there's nothing I can do now. If you live in Alhambra and know Fremont & Commonwealth (where the Blockbuster and Carl's Jr is), please let me know. Thanks!Thank you! I feel so much better! ^_^ I was wondering what those things are. I think it is highly likely the small pinhole thing is what you said and not a red light camera. more

I just got a ticket for careless driving. They said they clocked me at 80 and swerving through traffic, but I totally didnt notice the speed. I think the speed limit was 45 lowest to 55 max? Is there a way I could lower the points off my lisence, like get a lower fine (something with no points) for more money? I understand the pay is hundreds, i dont care... I need no points so my insurance doesnt go off cuz my parents pay for it and the car, and i dont want them to knoww. If it helps, it was route 18 in East Brunswick - more

Open Question: i got a non-traffic violation for minor in possession of alcohol in Alabama?

I was riding with one of my friends, not driving, and I was drinking an alcoholic beverage. The officer smelled the alcohol on my breath, and consequently took my alcohol and issued me a citation. He let me off easy, and issued me a non-traffic violation for minor in possession of alcohol. I did not get arrested. I am 18 years old and therefore i can take care of paying the fine and going to court without my parents finding out, unless my insurance rates go up. Will this happen? Also, what can I expect to pay for my fine? I am a first time offender and am therefore eligible for 'youthful offender status'. Not sure if this will affect my fine or anything. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. more
