Open Question: What do you think of this idea?
I have been thinking of creating a website that would be a dedicated to inspired/up and coming music artists and songwriters. The idea of the website is to have artist who are inspired to make musics are expanded their name by given one of their songs at a a time to the website in which it will be kept for two weeks at a time.Members are asked to make a profile page, with a email and contact information for songwriters or labels to gt in touch with them.Sign up fee would be 1 dollar for a lifetime which would be donated to a charity of your choice on my website. It would directly be paid through paypal to the charity. There will also be a online forum related to music categoriess such as Rap,Rock,Classical, etc
People would be able to rate 5 things about the song as well as the artist and have a chance to comment kinda like on youtube.I hoping to get he website advertise of Facebook,Google, etc. I will also write and tell each record company to check out the website
Also if the website generate enough hits and funds each artist with the best ratings will get 1000 each from each music category.
Do you think this is a good idea?

I run a small pre-owned electronics company. We advertise ourselves on craigslist. They haven't been terribly helpful in pointing me in a direction to help mitigate buying in stolen property. I'd appreciate any info anyone has on what the protocol is or what I NEED to be doing to limit our exposure to that sort of thing. We are currently launching a multimedia advertising campaign to promote our new styles of jewelry and cute travel accessories. With this campaign, we estimate that our sales target will increase by at least 50% and we expect to become the leading online designer clothing company. In addition, please see the included link to view our share prices during the last eighteen months and compare it to the others, our profit for stockholders more than tripled in about ten months, and we expect a similar trend to follow. You will see that our prices are currently very affordable, and in addition, have not seen any fall-backs. Hey Everyone,
I have this assignment for a internship. This assignment looks simple but i never did a spreadsheet before. Can anyone help how to set this problem up using word excel spreadsheet. I am also not sure how detailed it suppose to be and what information i need to add. Some help will be appreciated.
Thank You
Here is the assignment
.Problem Overview:
ABC is a (fictional) company that specializes in online advertising for clients like Roxy, Speedo, and Nike.
Using only the ad campaign information provided below, your task is to create an Excel spreadsheet that tracks specific daily metrics for ABCʼs website and for the ads run on ABCʼs website. The spreadsheet will be used by ABC executives to determine which companyʼs ad is performing best.
Ad Campaign Information:
From July 1, 2010 until July 31, 2010, ABC will run 12 online swimsuit ads side-by-side on the ABC
website. Four of these ads will be for Roxy swimsuits - two for womenʼs swimsuits (“The Roxy Womenʼs Ad Campaign”) and two for menʼs swimsuits (“The Roxy Menʼs Ad Campaign”). Four of these ads will be for Speedo swimsuits - two for womenʼs swimsuits (“The Speedo Womenʼs Ad Campaign”) and two for menʼs swimsuits (“The Speedo Menʼs Ad Campaign”). And four of these ads will be for Nike swimsuits -two for womenʼs swimsuits (“The Nike Womenʼs Ad Campaign”) and two for menʼs swimsuits (“The NikeMenʼs Ad Campaign”).
Daily Metrics to be Tracked:
1. number of online visitors to ABCʼs website
2. number of new visitors to ABCʼs website
3. number of repeat visitors to ABCʼs website

moreResolved Question: Does anyone else think video games jumped the shark with the next gen consoles?
Does anyone else think that being a gamer just isn't cool anymore? I know that for as long as I've been alive, society's look on video games has been that they are bad for you and make you lazy, (OR maybe it's just the dumb grand parents I had when I was younger) or in the worst case scenario, they are played by basement dwelling people with no lives.
Anyone who grew up playing the NES, the SNES, etc. knows that that was never true, but it was a hard thing to convince people of other wise...Especially parents. But now, the people who never latched onto a brand in the console wars, the people who just like to plop down every once in awhile for a half hour here, an hour there, and play a good all around game seem like a fleeting percentage of the video gaming community.
It seems like now you are either one of the hardcore PS3 or XBOX 360 fanboys, or an old person or little kid who likes the Wii. There isn't a lot there in between for the people who have other hobbies or lives outside of gaming.
Also, all this Netflix, Facebook, and other stuff you can do with a console seem lame. It's for people who can't go turn on their computer and use it. I just want to play a game with my system!
At this point, it seems that most of the video game companies are trying to snare us into not needing anything else but their system to meet all of our entertainment needs, and with the PS3 HOME and all the online socializing you can do that takes the place of real and more meaningful relationships you can have with people in real life, it seems a little bit too close for comfort for me.
Lastly, I don't exactly now where this started, but it had to be some marketing people at clothing companies. There is a certain look that I see advertised for gamers. I guess it follows, society's hip hop trend and the slacker trend, where not being cool and acting emo is cool. But everyone I see on G4, from some of the guests on X-PLAY to the people walking around at the conventions usually have those trendy box framed emo glasses, flannel shirt, stripped sweater, or dresses like a rapper, or wear some t-shirt that looks like the designs or logos was splatterd on with paint. Then, I see these same types of styles out in real life, the mall, video game conventions, and I'm like, "Wait. I thought it was only one or two people I saw before dressed like that." Apparently, no body grows up and just wears paints and nice shirts...
But for me, it just seems like there is too much that comes with being a gamer these days. Be it all the idiots you have to hear get belligerent about the console wars or when they lose online, the style of clothing, and the amount of time game developers expect you to drastically cut away from real life to beat a game, it just doesn't seem worth it or like something I'd ever be into. I was happy with PS3, XBOX, and Game Cube. Oh, well time to go fire up the NES and play "Nightmare on Elm Street" or "Bad Dudes..." which don't take 70-100 hours to complete.
moreResolved Question: Are there any online sites where you can complain about online consumer fraud?
I ordered merchandise from an online seller. It was advertised as new but it was damaged and obviously used. They offered to give me a refund but I'll have to send the items back at my expense, the items are heavy and it's going to cost a lot. I feel like I'm being punished for their dishonesty. I want to warn consumers about this company.
moreResolved Question: Would a law that sets tax rates based on amounts of spam work (see details)?
I have an idea for a law that would require online sellers to collect/pay tax, even when selling to customers in other states, but at a rate that is determined by how much spam there is advertising the business. For example, the law could be that for every 10,000 pieces of spam that advertise a website, there is an additional 1% tax on its sales or income. This would bring in money to the government without affected business that do not use spam. As an added benefit, (a) if the company had to pay the tax, it would send less spam, to keep down its tax cost, and (b) if the customers paid the tax, then they would avoid buying from the websites that were forced to charge high sales tax rates, so sending spam would result in fewer customers, not more, and websites would stop.
Because this would official be a tax on the transaction between the customer and the website, not a fine or even a tax on the spam, it would not be necessary to prove that the company was responsible for the spam. The tax would simply be a tax on income/sales of any website that was advertised through spam, whether sent by e-mail or posted on Yahoo! Answers. It seems appropriate that the first answer to this question is spam that would subject a company to this tax. An example of a company to which this tax would apply is the company to which http://infobusiness.notlong.com/7AAWKxW links. Morton, thank you for providing an example of the type of spam that this tax measure is intended to fight.
Please do not click "report abuse" on Morton's answer. I do not want it deleted, because I am using it to illustrate a point.Disregard the previous "additional details", such as the link to a notlong.com site. They refer to an answer that has been deleted.
moreVoting Question: Why do you often have to order merchandise to find out that it's out of stock?
Why is it that with companies such as BestBuy, you always have to place an order for and pay for an item before they tell you that it's back-ordered or out of stock? This is true both in the store and online, and including items that never seem to be in stock at all, and is a major waste of time for the customer. E.g.: In the store they have computers on display and advertised, even if they're out of stock/on back-order, and they don't tell you until after placing your order and paying. When ordering from online or over the phone, you have to submit the entire order including paying by credit card, and then they tell you it's back-ordered. (This was my experience with the one tablet PC sold by BestBuy that is made by HP.) Sometimes there is an option to be put on a waiting list for the item.
I've also seen rumors that stores like BestBuy have a "secret code" in their pricing to tell the employees the status of the item, such as whether the cents portion is .95, .99, .90, etc. will indicate whether the item is in-stock, back-ordered, etc. Why make it so surreptitious and not just be honest and open about it? Why are these companies so interested in hiding the item's status??@Common Sense: But that's just it: if the item is out of stock/back-ordered, then you can't have it anyway, so what's the point? If a person is willing to be put on a notification list when the item becomes available, then could they not just give you that option up-front instead of giving you a run-around, wasting your time and incurring immense frustration?
Also, I want to add: When I went through this order process with the tablet PC and had to have very large credit card payments canceled because of this issue, I ended up being contacted by the fraud department of my credit card company! It's just ridiculous that they would charge your credit card unnecessarily and then realize it's out of stock and cancel your order, thus causing these kinds of red flags.
Also, it seems that this post has attracted spammers. Don't follow their links unless there is actually meaningful advice...

I purchased a game from an online shop.
The game does not run sufficiently on my PC - not due to me not meeting requirements, but apparently the game isn't compatible with certain graphics drivers which is not advertised anywhere.
I only discovered this issue with the game after i activated it, which you have to do to play it.
The shop i bought it from said they cannot offer a refund because i activated it, but should go to the company that made the game.
As far as i am concerned, my contract is with the shop because i bought the game from them and they took my money.
It is there obligation to take it up with the game producers because they have a contract with them to sell the game.

Along with his endeavors to nationalize the finance, health, and auto industries, I think he would do well to work on drug companies. The industry claims prices are so high because of research costs. But any of you who have ever worked in a hospital or doctor's office or clinic know what waste the drug companies expend on freebies, including lunches and dinners out for whole departments. It all comes under advertising. If the pharmaceutical companies did not spend so much on advertising-- tv, magazines, radio, billboards, promo items, etc.-- drug costs would come down significantly.Do they even need to advertise? The only people who need to be kept up to date on new meds are doctors. Anyone can search online for interactions and applications and counterindications.TV and magazine ads just create more hypochondriacs daily. Exactly what the drug companies want.Look around your doctor's office next time and see all the free gizmos you pay for.
moreResolved Question: What business idea should I choose?
I am 13. Over the summer, I want to start an online business. I am currently taking a Business Camp at my school. My ultimate goal is to make six or more figures a year, and become Financially Independent. I know it sounds crazy since I'm only 13, but it is my dream.
I have 2 major online business ideas that could work, but I need help choosing the one that would make the most money.
1. My first idea is a website where free users can submit original songs and other users can listen, rate, comment, share, and chat with other users. I would also have an area where users can post info and another area where bands can find new band members. To make money from the site, I would sell ad space, sell an ecourse on songwriting, and maybe creating a pro membership if the site becomes big enough. I have a problem though. Since I have no coding experience, I would have to hire a web design firm to create the site. The problem is that it might cost a lot ($100,000) to create the site. If it does cost that much, should i hire a programmer from elance or something like that? Thats how the website Digg was created. If it still costs a lot, should I have my parents apply for a loan from SBA?
Overview of #1:
Target Market: Musicians, Bands, Independent Artists, Songwriters.
Revenue: Ad space, Pro Membership
Costs: Website, Marketing, Website Matinence
Type of Business: Online Business, Online Company, Service Business
Idea #2. This idea is a basic business idea. I would create a basic website (not a webs.com type of site, but not a huge firm site). I would join a well reputated wholesale company that sells and dropships musical instruments. I would list the products on my site using an eccommerce section, and allow customers to make orders. I would price the products to make profit. When I get an order, I send the order to the wholesale company, and they ship the products within 24 hours. They are most likely always in stock, and will notify me of any problems.
Overview of Idea #2:
Target Market: Musicians, Bands, Independent Artists, Dj's, bass players, guitarists, drummers, keyboard players, lighting people, record producers.
Revenue: Profits from Products, Advertising on Website
Costs: Dropshipping, Cost of Products, Website, Website Matinence, Marketing
Type of Business: Online Business, Online Company, E-Tail Business, Retail Business, Ecommerce, Product Business.
Which idea do you like the best? Which idea do you think is most profitable?
If you think #1 is the best and most profitable....
Why do you think that? How should I build the website? Will the website cost a lot? Should a get a loan from SBA? Would people like this site?
If you think #2 is the best and most profitable....
Why do you think that? Do you think it is a good idea?
Please help me. Even if you don't think any of these are good ideas, if you had to choose one, which one would you choose?
Thanks!
Also, I just received a call from my grandpa saying he is willing to invest money into either one of my ventures. Another GREAT THING is that I just realized my cousin is finishing college and was in college for web design. Even if it is a not perfect site, it could be a prototype. Also, he wont charge to build the site. Let me know what you think!

Let me know what you think!

moreVoting Question: Which business idea is better?
Type of Business: Online Business, Online Company, E-Tail Business, Retail Business, Ecommerce, Product Business.

moreVoting Question: Why do we have to wait so long to get US tv shows in the UK?
It isnt fair that with all the advertising online and all my American friends going on about it that on Sunday Trueblood season 3 starts in the US.
I am wondering why on earth us fans of such shows in the UK have to wait several months for it to be broadcast over here? Is it a legal thing or is it just that british TV companies can't be bothered to keep up to date with TV shows?
No wonder people download such programmes on the internet, but now ofcourse we are too afraid to do this for fear of being sued or fined so its a no win situation really isn't it?!! Aside from flying to the US myself to watch it each week I cannot find anyway of watching it, even online it is only available to the US, its not not fair!!! Comments please!!!
moreResolved Question: I am a college grad - 3 jobs in 2 1/2 years how do I explain this in interview?
After college (marketing degree) I am having a heck of a time holding a job, I am developing a distaste of corporate behavior and generally hate work.
I have focused on sales jobs, thinking that I could make a lot of money with little work. What I have discovered is that I am a horrible sales person.
Job 1- Selling advertising space for a huge job search company. I lasted about 7 months and quit a week before I was going to get fired. (90% of my training class was gone at that time)
Job 2 - Selling online training to HR and IT professionals - lasted almost a year, me getting fired was again inevitable used up my vacation hours, came back and quit.
Job 3 - 10 months woot! selling insurance this time, they saw potential but my progress was not fast enough, they fired me.
I did learn from these experiences and have grown as a person, but just not too sure how to answer an employer when they ask me why I blew through so many jobs (with huge reputable companies)
How should I respond?
moreVoting Question: Offshore banking and Web hosting for UK company - Intelligent contributions only please?
I run a few businesses in the UK, however one of my companies sources and wholesales 'grey market' designerware and footwear from manufacterers mainly in China and Italy to clients across Europe. I run and advertise this business completley online, even though the distribution of grey market products is legal under EU law. I still receive legal threats from brand companies even though the products were manufactered under licence, under my agreements with my suppliers I can not disclose the origin of the goods to brand companies to prove authenticity.
Any advice on making this a completely anonymous operation through using an offshore bank account and web hosting. I in no way plan on evading UK taxes however I do not wish to be harrassed by large companies even though I tell them to shove it anyway.
Intelligent advice only please, comments are greatly apreciated.
moreVoting Question: Cosmetic companies falsely advertising products due to legal control from pharmaceutical companies?
I was at a salon today and the lady was telling me about a sunscreen they sell at the store (I can't remember the name - starts with a "P") which is made by a company in Japan. She highly recommended it, saying it was SPF 50+
When she showed me the bottle, it was labelled SPF 15+ and so I asked about that. On the actual packet itself was a label saying SPF15 - which was covering a label underneath (you could see it a little) saying SPF50.
She said: due to (some) legality, cosmetic companies aren't allowed to market their cosmetics above SPF15, so if they're actually SPF50 then they have to label is as SPF 15. This is because of pharmaceutical companies having control.
Is this true? In which country/ies does this occur (I'm in Australia)? Why? Is there anywhere I can access this information online?
moreResolved Question: Is 6 weeks acceptable to finally hear back about a job application?
I just received a reply via snail mail about a job I applied to 6 weeks ago! The answer was they already hired someone, but we will keep your resume on file, blah blah blah. I have sent out numerous cover letters/resumes to job ads in the local newspaper. I have also applied to many jobs online either through their direct website or through a job match or career center site. To date, I have only heard from 3 prospective employers. All "thanks but no thanks". These jobs are no longer advertising but I have not been called for an interview nor have I received a No answer. How long do I wait to follow up? Or should I assume that no news is bad news and they don't want me? I cannot wait that long to hear about a job. I need to know sooner so I can move onto the next one. Is 6 weeks of no response the norm nowadays or is that company just unprofessional for leaving me (and others) hanging?
moreResolved Question: Will Eric get indicted for this or possibly even jailed?
Eric P. is a friend of mine. Please see the article below:

He met some person online in a forum and the person in the forum, from India said he had some data that can sell for a lot of money ($400,000). Eric took the information from this person in India and tried to sell it to a few huge advertising companies in the US. One of the companies he asked if they were interested and they realized it was their stolen information. The huge advertising company purchased $2,500 worth of information to verify it was their data and then realized it was their data. Now, they sued him in civil court and were speaking to FBI and other government officials in reference to this case. They overall believe a contractor who works for the company stole this information and then gave it to this Indian guy who gave it to Eric P in the US. Once Eric P found out he had a civil suit brought against him, he immediately complied, went to a 6 hour deposition, answered all questions and so forth. Yesterday, the court ordered all the information pertaining to the case be disclosed to the DA and a grand jury is now convening in reference to this case. Is Eric P. the subject of this grand jury? Are they considering indicting him? or the person in india? Or the original contractor who stole the information from the company to begin with? What is the worst thing Eric is looking at it in this case? The civil portion will probably be canceled out because he complied with the company and answered all their questions to help them find the original people who were involved in the theft. Is it possible they will indict him? What are the possible results from all of this......

I read this article where a 19 year old boy took information online from a guy in India and tried to sell it to advertising companies in the United States. The guy from India obtained this information from a contractor who worked with the company that stole the information from the company. The 19 year old boy in NY tried selling it to a top bidder in the US. One of the companies he tried to sell it to ended up being the company it was stolen from. Can the 19 year old buy get in trouble for this? If yes, to what extent? They are doing a grand jury right now on the case? Is it possible they will press charges against him? What type of sentence is possible if any????

I am doing research to see different options for online marketing in China. Blog advertising was an option, but is it worth the money? How many people read ad blogs in China?
moreResolved Question: Is there any way to report false advertising practices?
The VP of the company I once worked for has a habit of making things up to gain publicity. On one occasion he got a news crew to come to the store to interview him on having sold a million dollar item... this was a bald faced lie and we were told to keep quiet about it or lose our jobs. The claim was that a "high profile"executive from NY flew down and "just had to have" this item and he happily coughed up a million bucks for it.
The item in question was a piece on loan from the parent company, retailed for 200k (a far cry from a million dollars) and was never sold. It sat in the case for 2 weeks while the public, having seen the news and subsequent online articles, wandered through to see this million dollar item. Then it was "shipped to its new owner in NY" when it actually went back to the parent company.
If questioned, we were instructed to lie to our customers and back up this story. Anyway, this practice continues and the VP will happily lie to the public to make a sale. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

I've heard about these companies, but i cant find a single one online so i dont know if they're real. Are these companies real? How much do they pay on average? Are there any of these companies near NY or PA?? Website links would be great and ill choose the best answer.
moreResolved Question: Is this a Scam or not?!?
I recently received an E-mail that seems to me to be a scam....I am not sure but it kind of reminds me of those " Nigerian Prince who needs your bank info so he can receive his multi-million dollar fortune-of which you will be entitled to a large some of..." scams that were so popular a few years back. God, I fell for that one 3 times in a row! I don't want to be victimized yet again....., and this is why I wanted to get you alls opinion on this one. I got to admit, it sounds legitimate to me...but I just don't know anymore. The following is the letter I received:
Hello young sir and/or lady....I am Charles Chester Cheeze-Its...world famous owner of the Cheeze-Its brand name. I made my fortune developing new ways to trap Shrimp in the coastal waters of Southern Peru...But I had always dreamed of one day owning the Cheeze-its empire (Not only because of Cheeze-Its reputation as being at the forefront of snack-food technology...but mainly because I was born with the name C.C. Cheeze-its) I would like you to become my Ambassador To the Middle East...Help me Bring Cheese-Its to this War Torn World! Being somewhat of a humanitarian, I think it will help the peace process if both (or how many sides are involved) can sit down and enjoy one of my companies World Class Snack Foods, namely Cheese-Its! You may ask yourself "But why me Mr. Cheese-its? What do I know about the Middle East? And...hey....wait a minute, how do you (a world traveling multi-millionaire CEO of a famous company) know anything about ME (a home-town average Joe and/or Jane) ???!
Well...the answer is quite simple, there Child! Although I must admit that your questions are quite bright...they show that I have, indeed made the right choice in singling you out from the millions of other average Joe and/or Janes out there. You see I have been covertly following quite a few individuals for a long time now....Watching their online activity....reading their various comments to News-Groups, etc. By doing this, and through a complex scientific formula I have narrowed my choice down to one single individual...YOU!!!! You may think this an odd way of doing things, but here in the world of High Finance, we do this sort of thing daily! In fact how do you think someone ever gets such a job, as an "Ambassador" whether for a company or through the Government? I don't ever recall any college degrees in that area, do you? Nor would you ever see such an add for a thing in the Help Wanted section of any News Paper! Why? Because Such peoples have been Individually chosen for the job, often without their even knowing that they were being considered....JUST LIKE YOU!!!! Being an Ambassador is one of the Easiest Jobs in the world...this is why it is never advertised..people would swarm the application and the Person seeking to have the position filled would be Swamped with applicants. No, what is happening to you right now, has happened to practically every Ambassador since the dawn of modern time. SO NOW WHAT? Well I am very glad that you asked. New regulations from the NSA and FDA, as well as the CIA, and the Obama White House have made it a bit more difficult. There is a slight amount of red-tape to jump through...but I will hold your hand through it, and together you will come out the other side a FULL FLEDGED AMBASSADOR!!!!!!! First off I am gonna need your bank information...you see in order to access your funds overseas you will, first have to transfer all of your assets to a company owned Offshore Bank. Offshore, means International, by the way...this keeps you from loosing up to HALF or MORE of your hard earned money to Taxes!!! See, I am looking out for you already!!! SO send me that info as quickly as you can....
PS don't tell anyone else about this! They might get jealous and throw a monkey wrench into the process, which could take years to fix! In fact getting anyone involved INCLUDING the authorities (although for the life of me I could never assume why you would do something like that....I mean that's crazy!!! LOL!!) could cause such a disruption that in order to safeguard my company I may have to offer this position to someone else...and honestly that would Break My Heart! Please act Quickly...we need you now!!! Your Future Awaits you!!!!
-Charles Chester Cheeze-Its CEO of Cheeze-Its
