Open Question: What are my chances of getting into Duke?

My dream school is duke however I'm afraid with all the competition and what not I might now have a chance...what do you think? :( I have a 3.8 unweighted gpa and an SAT score of 2140 and an ACT score of 32. During freshman year I was the secretary of my school math team, I was a member of beta club, key club, fiddle group, and my school orchestra. I also opened up my own swim lessons in my neighborhood where I teach 8 kids weekly. Freshman year I took all honors courses as well as AP government. Sophomore year I took all honors classes and AP World Hisotry. Junior year I took AP Statistics, AP Language and Composition, AP Calculus, and AP Environmental Science, Spanish 6 Honors and US History. For extra curriculars: I was vice president of math team sophomore year, member of science olympiad, in sophomore class council, key club, the beta club volunteer coordinator, President and founder of a club to fight hunger, spanish club, and HOSA (i placed 6th in state for one of the competitions). I also tutor.I'm also in the top ten percent of my class more

Open Question: Should I take Spanish AP again even though I got a 5 on the AP exam?

So I will be a senior next year and currently my academic classes for next year are: English 4AP Multivariable Calculus (After Calc BC) H Physics 1H Chemistry 2AP Spanish 5AP Now both junior year Spanish 4AP and senior year Spanish 5AP prepare students for the same AP Spanish Language exam, with Spanish 5AP the more advanced course. Since I got a 5 on the AP exam after Spanish 4, I feel like it's a waste to take Spanish 5AP if the goal of the class is to prepare students for a test I already got the highest grade on. Still, I am applying to Ivy League schools and they always say "4 YEARS OF A LANGUAGE". Therefore, should I replace Spanish 5AP with Statistics AP (still 5 academic classes for the year), or should I go through another year of Spanish class? I plan on self-reporting my AP scores. Also, freshman year I doubled on languages, taking Latin and Spanish, so I technically have 8 semesters (4 years) of world languages already. more

Resolved Question: Paul Cameron: World's Biggest Idiot?

Dr. Paul Cameron, who is best known for his studies on homosexuality as well as being expelled from the APA, is probably the world's biggest idiot. His studies have reported such "facts" as: -The average homosexual has 20-106 sexual partners ANNUALLY -68% of mass murder victims were killed by homosexuals -LITERALLY ALL homosexuals have oral sex (It's bad when one person disproves an entire statistic) -90% of homosexuals regularly engage in anal sex -92% regularly give their partner analingus -70% regularly ingest feces -41% regularly fist their partners -Lesbians are 300 times more likely to die in a car crash than heterosexual women -The average lifespan of a homosexual man is 43 You might wonder how his findings are so absurd. A few facts about Dr. Cameron -Most of the above statistics were taken from a sample size of SIXTY-FIVE -The rest were obtained by studying the obituaries of gay newspapers -Cameron has been expelled from the APA citing an ethics violation -Cameron has been disassociated by the NPA, CPA, and ASA, all citing misrepresentation and misinterpretation of data -Cameron has publicly stated his intent is to prove homosexuals are (paraphrasing) unhealthy amoral bastards -Cameron is head of the Family Research Institute, an organization which reeks so badly of socially conservative bias that you could smell it on the International Space Station -If his samples are to be trusted, 88% of homosexual men have AIDS and there are 20 homosexual men to every lesbian As such, any data he reports is tripe. Pure, unadulterated tripe. Does that stop people from using it? Hell no. This data was used in support of proposition 8, several socially conservative organizations believe it to be reliable, and I've seen this shit all over the internet. QUESTIONS BELOW: 1) Is this data really as off as I think it is? 2) Why are humans stupid enough to trust this man? 3) Is Dr. Cameron or the choir he's preaching to more worrying? more

Resolved Question: How can people not see that men are superior to women?

Look at it this way - almost everything around us has been invented, built and maintained by men. The car you drive, the computer you use, the house you live in, the electricity that powers it all, the research and development behind these products etc were all invented, improved upon and are continually maintained by men. Literally look around your room, house, office, street. 99% of what you see was devised, built and maintainted by men. Socially speaking, men garner more "respect"- they are natural born leaders of the race biologically speaking, which means that women will always subconsciously appear inferior even in positions of power. Even women feel the same way and look up to male figure heads. It is only modern social structuring and law that allows the weak to gain power, but a tall powerful man will always have the biggest impact in such situations. A powerful woman will never have the 1 for 1 competitive edge to the most powerful equivalent male. Even in dating women look for traits in men such as leadership, strength, wealth and power. They are admitting without realizing that they are playing a supportive role of nest building in the relationship. Men conversely look for traits strictly biological (looks) or good nurturing personalities. They also seek women with traits resembling helplessness such as them being petite - men are inclined to lead and protect the family and women want this. Women are more often thought of as accessories or objects, whereas men are seen as protective figures. Even physically men are almost superior in every sense of the word. Most world records in sport are made by men and will never be surpassed by equivalent women. Sports in which both sexes play such as in the Olympics, the males are given longer or more difficult distances/tasks and their times are still superior. Even world class events such as the world cup follow male only teams because their superior dexterity is more interesting to watch. The most common argument towards sexes being equal is the female capacity for child rearing, which they can be give credit for, but it’s pretty simple biology really - a rat can do the job just as well. Child rearing and house maintenance is a supportive role - sure we need women here, but this is their NICHE. The reason beauty in women is so important is to display their capacity to rear better children. That's it! All that focus on beauty in the media at the end of the day is just an expression of their main role as people on the planet. There is also the argument that women haven't been given the opportunity historically, thus the reason for their lack of contribution. Well here in Australia women have had plenty of equality for at least 30 years and statistics still show that women almost never pursue careers or research in industries that push human development. The most intelligent women still pursue fields that are inclined to relate to their biological construct of nurturing such as nursing or teaching which are supportive roles in society – they’re looking after males, so that they can continue to develop us further. Women are generally most powerful in industries that don't play any role other than for sexual gratification eg modeling. Before you argue against this - please consider the facts. I'm not saying women are useless, infact they play an enourmous role to the survival of the human race. Denying such would be ignorant. Comparing them to males however - they are inferior because their main role on earth is still primal in comparison to that of men - what separates us from other animals is our cognitive capacity to improve ourselves. As time goes on and we live longer, evolve, produce AI etc - it will be known in history that it was men who made that possible. more

Open Question: Advice on Junior year schedule?

Hello, I'm in the process of choosing my courses for 11th grade. I live in the U.S. and attend Keystone National High School (an online high school) and plan on taking most of my math and science courses through EPGY online. Thus far, these are the classes I have chosen: AP World History AP Physics C AP English Language CP French III AP Art History AP Economics AP Calculus BC In addition to these courses I was planning on taking either AP Psychology, AP Computer Science A, or AP Statistics. So my question is this- which of the above three courses would be most meaningful for me to take? Meaning from which course would I get the most out of? I've chosen all of my courses based on my political interest and academic passions and I never choose classes based on what looks good for college. My primary concern at this point is getting the most out of Junior year intellectually. Advice/opinions about any other courses I have taken would also be appreciated Thanks more

Resolved Question: Has the secret "dirty war" gotten worse in recent years? Why is it Ignored?

Justice Department Statistics About Black On White Race Violence 'The Race War Of Black Against White' by Paul Sheehan The Sydney Morning Herald , Australia, 20 May 1995 The longest war America has ever fought is the Dirty War, and it is not over. It has lasted 30 years so far and claimed more than 25 million victims. It has cost almost as many lives as the Vietnam War. It determined the result of last year's congressional election. Yet the American news media do not want to talk about the Dirty War, which remains between the lines and unreported. In fact, to even suggest that the war exists is to be discredited. So let's start suggesting, immediately. No matter how crime figures are massaged by those who want to acknowledge or dispute the existence of a Dirty War, there is nothing ambiguous about what the official statistics portray: for the past 30 years a large segment of black America has waged a war of violent retribution against white America. And the problem is getting worse, not better. In the past 20 years, violent crime has increased more than four times faster than the population. Young blacks (under 18) are more violent than previous generations and are 12 times more likely to be arrested for murder than young whites. Nearly all the following figures, which speak for themselves, have not been reported in America: • According to the latest US Department of Justice survey of crime victims, more than 6.6 million violent crimes (murder, rape, assault and robbery) are committed in the US each year, of which about 20 per cent, or 1.3 million, are inter-racial crimes. • Most victims of race crime—about 90 per cent—are white, according to the survey "Highlights from 20 Years of Surveying Crime Victims", published in 1993. • Almost 1 million white Americans were murdered, robbed, assaulted or raped by black Americans in 1992, compared with about 132,000 blacks who were murdered, robbed, assaulted or raped by whites, according to the same survey. • Blacks thus committed 7.5 times more violent inter-racial crimes than whites even though the black population is only one-seventh the size of the white population. When these figures are adjusted on a per capita basis, they reveal an extraordinary disparity: blacks are committing more than 50 times the number of violent racial crimes of whites. • According to the latest annual report on murder by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, most inter-racial murders involve black assailants and white victims, with blacks murdering whites at 18 times the rate that whites murder blacks. These breathtaking disparities began to emerge in the mid-1960's, when there was a sharp increase in black crime against whites, an upsurge which, not coincidentally, corresponds exactly with the beginning of the modern civil rights movement. Over time, the cumulative effect has been staggering. Justice Department and FBI statistics indicate that between 1964 and 1994 more than 25 million violent inter-racial crimes were committed, overwhelmingly involving black offenders and white victims, and more than 45,000 people were killed in inter-racial murders. By comparisons 58,000 Americans died in Vietnam, and 34,000 were killed in the Korean war. When non-violent crimes (burglary, larceny, car theft and personal theft) are included, the cumulative totals become prodigious. The Bureau of Justice Statistics says 27 million non-violent crimes were committed in the US in 1992, and the survey found that 31 per cent of the robberies involved black offenders and white victims (while only 2 per cent in the reverse). When all the crime figures are calculated, it appears that black Americans have committed at least 170 million crimes against white Americans in the past 30 years. It is the great defining disaster of American life and American ideals since World War II. All these are facts, yet by simply writing this story, by assembling the facts in this way, I would be deemed a racist by the American news media. It prefers to maintain a paternalistic double-standard in its coverage of black America, a lower standard. more

Open Question: How high or low should I aim with colleges/universities?

So first of all, I completely messed up my junior year, but here are my stats starting from freshman year. I'm about to start my senior year. (first semester/second semester) there were probably some minuses in there that I don't remember too... Freshman Spanish 1-2 A/A Enriched English 1-2 A/A PE A/A Health/Keyboarding A/A Biology B/A Geometry A/B Sophomore World History Enriched B/B Algebra II A/A Spanish 3-4 A/A Percussion A/A Physics A/B Enriched English 3-4 A/A Junior Trigonometry B/C AP English Language 5-6 A/A Symphonic Band A/A AP US History B/B- Food & Nutrition A/A Competitive PE A/A Senior Year (tentative) Forensic Science AP Biology AP Literature AP Government/Economics AP Statistics Teacher's Aide So ya, I decided to not give up even with my lame Trig grade. I still chose the easy way out with Stats instead of Calc, but Bio took alot of effort to decide to take. Oh ya extra info: I did Track sophomore and junior year Was in leadership council in band Elected to be Activity Leader or something in FHA-Hero (future homemakers of america, kinda like fbla) Was Team Captain for Recycling Club in Sophomore Year and plan to be a member all four years. For my lame pointers, I got a 2 in AP US History exam, and 3 in AP English exam. I took Practice Sat twice, got 1640, PSAT got 164, and official sat and got 1610 (510 in reading, 570 in math, and 530 in writing). I also took SAT II in US History (560) and Lit (560) -frustrated- I'm thinking of trying to ACT this fall and taking the SAT one more time. I understand I have slightly, SLIGHTLY above average scores, but I was wondering if my grades, activities, and classes could balance it out, minus my C in Trig that I really slipped up on. more

Resolved Question: What do you think of the following statistics for Sweden, the "Feminist nirvana"?

Sweden has the lowest marriage rate in the OECD. http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/peo_mar_rat-people-marriage-rate Sweden has the highest divorce rate out of 49 nations who keep and publish such statistics. http://www.darndivorce.com/divorce-rates-around-the-world/ Sweden is ranked a low number 200 out of 228 nations that declare their birth rates. http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/peo_bir_rat-people-birth-rate Sweden has the 10th highest female suicide rate in the OECD, as opposed to the 34th highest for males. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate In Sweden many couples choose to cohabit and the corresponding break up rate is higher than the divorce rate. Few men pay alimony or child maintenance. For men, this is a good deal as it means they can stay with a woman while she is young and good looking, then when she gets in to her middle age, easily break up with her and not be encumbered with alimony or child maintenance. The men can then find a younger and better looking woman. more

Open Question: Why USA has so high violent crime statistics?

There are more reported murders each year in Detroit, than in the whole of the United Kingdom. Viewed in this context, the United States is a culture in which crimes of violence flourish. Why should this be? The answer is sometimes given as the widespread availability of hand-guns and other firearms. This is surely relevant, but cannot on its own be the full answer. Switzerland has very low rates of violent crime, yet firearms are easily accessible. Also, the United States has the world's highest rape rate of the countries that publish such statistics - 13 times higher than England and more than 20 times higher than Japan. With the wealth and material power behind the USA (they are the world's richest nation), why are these statistics so bad? more

Open Question: How can women even act like "size" doesn't matter?

I've slept with a little over two dozen women in my life - have been intimate with twice that number. Out of those women, something like a half a dozen have, without provocation, described my average size junk - 6.5 to 7 inches long and average girth - as being larger than they're used to. Another four or so have described it as being "small" and even unsatisfying, while another half a dozen have hinted to it as being less than they would like to see. Do women HONESTLY think that the men of the world are suddenly going to develop this all important, unwavering confidence in their manhood when messages like that are being sent to them!? I've got friends with the same stories. Listen....rulers and statistics don't lie ladies so wwwwwwhat's the deal? Does size matter? It would certainly appear so??? more

Resolved Question: What are your thoughts on this?

It looks like President George W. Bush may have a pretty good birthday today. After all, this time last year the liberal media was terming him as "the worst president in American history." But a lot has changed since then. History has proven that the challenges he faced during his presidency were much more daunting that anyone realized. In fact, shortly after the 2008 presidential election, Gallup ranked Bush’s popularity at only 27 percent and Obama’s at 70 percent. Most of the country thought Obama would prove Bush totally incompetent, but since then a lot has happened, and Obama’s popularity, according to Gallup, has dropped 24 points to only 46 percent. One of his lead generals has publicly criticized his handling of the war in Afghanistan and even former Bush senior adviser Karl Rove has equated the current administration’s handling of the BP disaster to of the BP disaster to what happened with Katrina. Some people have even suggested Obama’s handling of the BP disaster is much worse than the way the Bush administration handled Katrina. That doesn’t necessarily mean that Obama is the worst president in American history instead. In fact, I’m not even saying he’s a bad president because this column isn’t about him. What it means is that the challenges George W. Bush faced during his presidency were a lot more challenging than anyone ever realized. Aside from the polls, statistics, and historical analysis there is a lot to say about President Bush. Although there will always be people who dislike him, even some of his detractors admit that he is genuine a person with a heart of gold. In 2008 when he was asked how he wanted to be remembered, he said, “I’d like to be a president [known] as somebody who liberated 50 million people achieve peace . . . I would like to be a person remembered as a person who first and foremost did not sell his soul in order to accommodate the political process.” Bush was a president who cared deeply about freedom and human dignity for people. He was a man who experienced his own hardships with failure and addiction and empathized with others who endured their own personal pain. He was the kind of man who could forgive, and because of his faith and humility he knew he was far from perfect. He knew that no man can ever be perfect. Somewhere along the line we seemed to think a president could be perfect – and that he should be. Perhaps with the hardships President Obama has faced, we now know that’s just not possible. Everyone make mistakes, especially when they have a hard job, and being president of the United States and the leader of the free world is the toughest job there is. Happy Birthday, President Bush. We are grateful for everything you did to protect America and the free world, and we will never forget how you lifted our spirits in the darkest times in the wake of 9/11. Thank you for being our president and standing by us. more

1.)When recording notes during an interview, it is essential to record every word that is spoken for absolute accuracy. true false 2.)When citing a source, it is sufficient to provide the name of the author and the title of the text. true false 3.)Which of the following is a primary source? article on U.S. Forestry U.S. Fish and Wildlife survey textbook blog post 4.)Read the following interview script from the Dialogue for Social Awareness. Then, answer the question below. Interview Script: Dialogue for Social Awareness Sophie: Hello, I’m Sophie DuPont with the Dialogue for Social Awareness. Here with me today is Roger Jennings, a salesman from Houston, Texas. Roger, according to a recent survey conducted by Dialogue for Social Awareness, Americans are concerned about poverty around the world, but what about poverty in our own neighborhoods? The U.S. Bureau of the Census found that the poverty rate in America is currently at 12.5%. What are your thoughts about sending food and health care supplies to other countries when there is so much poverty here? Roger: That’s a little bit like asking me who deserves to live in poverty and who doesn't, isn't it? I mean, if we send food and supplies overseas, then we are potentially taking aid from American citizens. But if we distribute the food and supplies to American citizens, then children in third world countries don’t get the aid. It's a no-win argument. Earlier you said the poverty rate in America is 12.5%, but the world poverty rate according to the World Bank is 25%. If we look at these numbers as people--women and children, thousands more are suffering across the world compared to just in America--maybe even millions. Again, I don't believe poverty is ever a "them-or-us" argument. Instead, we need every person in every developed country to help combat this issue, not just Americans. One country can't fight this problem. It's a world problem and a world responsibility. Which sentence most clearly states Roger’s position about the issue? That’s a little bit like asking me who deserves to live in poverty and who doesn't, isn't it? I mean, if we send food and supplies overseas, then we are potentially taking aid from American citizens. But if we distribute the food and supplies to American citizens, then children in third world countries don’t get the aid. Instead, we need every person in every developed country to help combat this issue, not just Americans. 5.)When writing your essay, you should _____ when the essential message, or meaning, of a quotation is more important than the quote, itself. paraphrase quote plagiarize interview 6.)“Women and poetry in America” is an effective, focused research topic. true false 7.) Which of the following might cause confusion to the reader of your research paper? You address more than one essential question in your paper. You provide facts and statistics instead of just opinions in your paper. You paraphrase two original sources that disagree on your topic and provide your own summary of findings. Your interviewee presents a viewpoint that opposes your own premise 8.)Read the following interview script for the Dialogue of Social Awareness, then answer the question below. Sophie: Let me interrupt you for one second. You just said that every person in every country needs to contribute. What about those in America who are living in poverty? How can they contribute? Roger: I believe that everyone can contribute whatever is within their means. This applies to impoverished people in America, too. A big difference exists between Americans living in poverty compared to South Africans living in poverty. I realize that when people are in the midst of difficult times, telling them, "Well, it could be worse," doesn't help lessen the stress of wondering where their next meal will come from. However, I believe that every person and every nation can contribute something. Even the smallest donation of money, goods or time can have an impact on a big problem. Sophie: Thank you Roger for sharing your perspective on this social issue affecting people around the world. I've talked with a number of other people today as well, and many also believe that American responsibility begins with solving the social issues domestically first. Others didn't even believe world hunger exists, despite scientific evidence. The sheer diversity of perspectives means that these issues are not going to be solved today. However, the discussions being held here in Washington will at least bring awareness--and awareness is the seed of change. I'm Sophie DuPont for Dialogue for Social Awareness. Resolved Question: Evolution and it's role in religion?

Ok I really am not trying to be a jerk or closed minded or anything. I am doing a research paper and I am trying to put feelers out there to people as well as what I find on the internet and in the library so I am going to ask the question, but I am asking it from a wanting information and opinion stance not in a " I am going to argue that evolution is a religion" stance. My question is this I understand that not everyone who accepts evolution is atheist or agnostic, but those that consider themselves to be atheist or agnostic doesn't it tie into a "religion?" If your faith doesn't lie in a creator then your faith lies in the science presented to explain why we are here correct? I am just curious what about it separates it from you considering it a religion. Please don't think I am trying to be a jerk or start an argument this is all for my research paper I am doing and I am trying to get as many facts as I can. I am more than willing to admit that when it comes to evolution and the role it plays scientifically and social I am pretty uneducated. It's never been something I have studied til I started this paper so I am having an open mind and trying to learn as much as I can so my paper is based on as much fact and real world statistics as I possible can getAlso please don't get on here and lamb baste me. If I wanted that I would have posted in religion and spirituality. I am merely trying to get mature responses and some information links if you have any would be greatly appriciatedthank you icabod you have given me some really awesome resources to help with my paper. I am sorry if I came across that all evolutionist were athiest I was trying to word it to those that consider themselves athiest. I should have watched my wording a little betterI really wish I could pick Icabod and Ian w as best answer b/c both of you gave me really good insite and the information I was looking for. I think you both understood that I was just asking a question and not trying to piegon hole anyone into anything. I picked icabod b/c he gave me some really good links to some resources that I can use in my research for my paper, but Ian W's response was very good too and I am hoping he will allow me to quote him in my paper more

Resolved Question: Brother and sisters, is it easier to blame white people for our problems instead of admitting to ourselves....?

that we are the cause of our own societal ills? I mean we have the highest crime rates compared to any other social group or class. We have the highest high school drop out rates compared to all other races. We have the highest rates of single-parent households. We have the lowest marriage rates compared to any other demographic in the world. We have the highest rates of teen pregnancy. We have the 9 out of 10 black children born out of wedlock. I know we have have come a long way but I find that my friends and family in general tend to blame the man (i.e. white people) for holding us back. Whenever i bring up any negative (but true) statistics I am met with stiff resistance and ignorance. It's almost like we (myself included) are blind to what is happening. Do any of my black brothas and sistahs feel the same way? What can we as a minority do? Do we need to take responsibiliy and be held accountable? I think so. We also need to work on our public manners while in movie theatres. But one step at a time. Only clean and positive comments preferably. Thank you.Is it hard to simply say, "Yes, all these statistics are correct". I mean really? Not one of us can admit to all our problems as a black community? Anyone? I'll take one person. more

Voting Question: Sweden has often been quoted as a feminists utopia, but what do you think of the following statistics?

Sweden has the lowest marriage rate in the OECD. http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/peo_mar_rat-people-marriage-rate Sweden has the highest divorce rate out of the 49 nations who keep and publish such statistics. http://www.darndivorce.com/divorce-rates-around-the-world/ Sweden has a negative birth rate and is ranked number 200 out of 228 nations. http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/peo_bir_rat-people-birth-rate Sweden has the 8th highest female suicide rate in the OECD as opposed to the 11th highest rate for Swedish males. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_OECD_countries_by_suicide_rate Faced with so much anti-male hostility from women, Swedish men just do not marry them. This results in a lot of miserable childless single women.Fereshite is wrong. If you look at for example birth rates, Sweden is lower down than most of the other adavanced nations, e.g. France is ranked as 165."That's what she said is a female" and is wrong. Men often ditch cohabbiting women in their middle age in Sweden and start again with a younger women. Suicide is seen as a real problem in Sweden and is not accepted at all. What do you think of this; statistics show that the host nations always made it to the next round, but this year south Africa didn't. and statistics also show that no one has ever won after losing the opening match (Spain) but here they are in the quarterfinals, yeah i know they haven't won yet or they might not even win, but what do you think of all these predictions rankings and statistics? more

Voting Question: Which of these schools can I transfer into- Northwestern or Notre Dame?

I was rejected for this coming school year by Northwestern when I tried to transfer. I'm a Hispanic Male from NJ. I have been through 2 years of college. Spent my 1st year at a solid Liberal Arts school in NY. Spent this year at a community college. My Total GPA is a 3.73 through 58 credit hours. If I can get 2 straight 4.0's for the next 2 semesters (I don't have any reason NOT to get 2 straight 4.0's), I can bring my GPA to a 3.83 through 89 credit hours. I've taken classes all across the liberal arts curriculum from Math to Music from Science to English. I'm planning to major in either History or English or both. I've done exceptionally well in all my college Eng/His classes. My only non-A grade was an A- in World Literature my freshman year. Do you think I have a legitimate shot at either Northwestern or Notre Dame for junior transfer. I'd love to get into either, especially Northwestern, but I fear my high school statistics might prevent that from happening (3.4 GPA in HS, 1900/2400 SAT scores, no SAT Subject Tests, only 2 AP Classes) Which school can you see me possibly transferring into with the right essays, recommendations and extra curriculars. (Btw, 1 important extra curricular that I LOVE and which makes me unique from almost all other applicants is that I started boxing 1 year ago and plan to compete at an amateur level very soon) more

Resolved Question: Where in the world more racial groups have been mixed most?

Hi, I have a very neutral (i.e. I only want to know) question from my side that I would like to ask you here. I am from Morocco, so I am not hiding my identity. You may call me crazy for the 2nd statement but he has the potential. You guys may argue that B.I.G. and TuPac were the best because of potential and what could've happened if not killed, and I believe they were great but I have belief that Eminem was better. Resolved Question: did you know the Bureau?

of Labor Statistics reports that women still earn only 80 cents for every dollar men make. The implication is clear. Women, it is assumed, are victims of a chauvinistic work world that undervalues their contributions. But is that assumption correct? No…women have mostly themselves - and their career choices - to blame for their plight because women are less likely than men to put money first when making career decisions. Instead, women sacrifice fat paychecks in exchange for work that is flexible, less risky and more fulfilling. The fact is, when hours worked, areas of responsibility, and amount of uninterrupted experience are factored in men routinely earn less than women. Do you agree that women need to reject their feelings of discrimination and take matters into their own hands by making better career decisions? For example: Concentrate on career options in the hard sciences, not the social sciences. Engineers and computer scientists get paid more than teachers, journalists, and social workers. Female engineering managers earn an average annual salary of $83,000, but only 10 percent of professionals in the field are women. Get hazard pay without the hazards. Women in the military have an 8-to-1 safety ratio over men (i.e., not a single woman in the Marines or Air Force has died in the War in Iraq). Women cab drivers routinely work safer shifts (and sometimes areas) than their male counterparts, as well as get higher tips, in spite of not necessarily helping with the baggage. For women willing to think big, there's the lucrative option of starting up a company in a male-dominated industry such as construction. Thanks to laws governing federal contracts and woman-owned businesses, they'll have government agencies, universities, and other organizations competing for their services. Choose fields with higher financial and emotional risks. Male doctors and lawyers earn more than females in part because they are more likely to be in private practice. Risk is a huge reason venture capitalists earn between $100,000 and $300,000 a year - substantially more than supermarket cashiers who receive a regular paycheck and "check out" at the end of the day. About 91 percent of venture capitalists are men. Put in the hours. People who work just ten hours more per week earn almost twice the pay. Know the fields that pay women more than men. Female statisticians, for example, earn one third more than men, while female speech-language pathologists make 29 percent more. Farrell lists 39 fields that pay women at least 5 percent more than men. Be willing to move - and to travel. Women account for half of today's professionals, but only 18 percent of all employees transferred abroad, and only a similar percentage of frequent fliers. Women who move up are willing to both travel on the job and to relocate, especially overseas. Consider a higher-paying specialty. A nurse, for example, who wishes to become a nurse anesthetist can make twice the pay of a general nurse. A nurse with a bit of wanderlust can earn much better income as a traveling nurse. Do agree that many women will prefer to embrace the victim mentality - and continue to seek the wrong remedies instead of admitting the problem is in themselves? Resolved Question: Why do blacks commit more crime?

The data provide a breakdown of the ethnicity of the 18,091 men and boys who police took action against for a range of violent and sexual offences in London in 2009-10. They show that among those proceeded against for street crimes, 54 per cent were black; for robbery, 59 per cent; and for gun crimes, 67 per cent. Street crimes include muggings, assault with intent to rob and snatching property. Just over 12 per cent of London’s 7.5 million population is black, including those of mixed black and white parentage, while 69 per cent is white, according to the Office for National Statistics. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/7856787/Violent-inner-city-crime-the-figures-and-a-question-of-race.html Is it because they are poor, because the police and courts are racist, or is there some other reason? Whatever the reason, wouldn't less 3rd world immigration have made London a safer place? Are the Sunday Telegraph and the Metropolitan Police racist too, or is it all my fault for daring to mention it?Mr. Smartypants, in your little scenario of left Vs right handed people, why are the left handers paid less? If it's because they are generally less well educated, have fewer skills, or a bad attitude, who's fault is that?http://www.met.police.uk/caught_on_camera/index.htmElizabeth, according to these figures from 2004, minority ethnic groups carried out 77,000 violent racial attacks against whites, but only 49,000 BMEs were victims of such attacks. Seeing as the ratio of whites to non-whites was 9:1 at the time, this would suggest that non-whites are (per capita) over 14 times more likely to commit a violent racist attack against a white person than vice versa. What would you say if someone suggested that was a valid reason for whites to be racist? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6128466.stm more

Resolved Question: Racism aside: Do you think that the deep south is a crappy place to be in?

***North Carolina, Virginia, Florida and Texas are not considered the deep south so look up your information before you debate, seriously, look up the deep south and you will know what states are included. People complained saying how there is no racism in the deep south when I posted my last question and that the media just makes it seem like that. Well obviously my travels down there were a lie and calling a Middle Eastern person a "Sandbag C00n" is not racist at all. Now with all of that aside, I still think the deep south is a crappy place to be in for the following reasons: - bad weather, worst summers you can imagine, full of bugs and poisonous snakes outside and it is tough to exercise outside. Bugs fly in your face like crazy and in the summer everyone stays inside in most cases because the heat is just so bad and humid. - Lack of diversity, except for Atlanta and some of the other bigger cities in the Deep South, I did not think that Hispanics and Asians existed. In most places I went to it was exclusively Black or White people. Some southerners like to come on here and lie, well statistics don't lie, there are very few Hispanics or Asians in the deep south. - Nothing to do and easy to get fat as a result. The cuisine there is full of high fat and high sodium foods, there is nothing to do so you just lay around all day talking about a bunch of pointless stuff. - High crime rates, believe it or not the deep south states have the highest violent crime rates in the US, this comes as a result of the people there not being as educated as the people up north. I have to admit, Southerners can be some of the dumbest people in the world and that is okay but the worst part is that they are STUBBORN and DUMB, bad combination. What about you guys. more

Resolved Question: Should we allow the demographic balance to be overthrown by the government's immigration policy?

98% of the immigrants that enter America each legally are from the third world. They have much lower levels of education and much higher levels of welfare usage. In other words, they don't pay their own way and the taxpayer has to educate, feed and maintain them and their kids. Also, they are immediately qualified for every affirmative action (discrimination based on skin color) program there is. If you are white, this means your kids have to go to the end of the line, pay their own way and pay the way for the immigrants from Africa, Asia, Latin America etc. Do you feel like you are taxed too little? Do you want to pay more and more? Of course their are exceptions to this rule, but the number don't lie: Legal immigrant households use welfare programs at almost twice the rate of native born Americans, Poverty rates for immigrant households are twice as high as native born households. One of the main reason for legal immigrant poverty is because of their low education levels. Immigrants get into America based on "family re-unification, not what they can offer America. Highest rates of welfare usage are: Dominican Republican 63% (two thirds of Dominicans use welfare as legal immigrants - how's that make you feel around tax time?, Mexican immigrants are next at 51%, (half of legal Mexican immigrants are living off of your tax dollar, Ecuador immigrants - 46.2% get welfare from your tax dollars. to our country, the other 88% are non-white. This is upsetting the demographic balance of America and it's being done by our Federal Government, not a act of God or some other natural act. It's a policy to change what America looks like and it's costing American citizens a fortune for our government's diversity experiment - I hope it works better than their all of their bankrupt failed programs that just plain don't work and cost us a fortune, but this is going to really change the nation from descendents from a European background to what Theodore Roosevelt called a "Polyglot boardinghouse". White immigrants make up around 12-14% of immigrants Mexico has a law that clearly stats that any immigrants to Mexico cannot change the demographics of their country. To immigrate to Mexico you have to be Mexican or the children of Mexicans. I don't know about you, but I'm sick to death of being preached at and scolded by the President of Mexico. Shut you stupid, two faced mouth. I don't think America is too uncrowded or the traffic is too wide open and easy to get around in. 90% of all new schools that have to be built are because of the millions of the immigrants who arrive and require thousands of new schools to be built in every town and city all over America. Just think of the cost of all of these schools and translators and staff members. It all adds up to mega millions of your hard earned dollars. (All statistics were gathered by a DC think tank that analyzes the US Census numbers called the Center for Immigration Studies - check them out on the internet. American immigration policy is supposed to serve the interests of the people of the United States. Like most other US Governrment policies, this immigration policy is a total failure and is rapidly destroying our nation. We need to take a time out on all legal immigration, as we have done many times in yeas past. We don't need to keep the door to the welfare office open to millions of immigrants flooding our nation each year. Let's take a 5 year time out and see how it works. Think about it! more

Resolved Question: Is Manny Pacquiao an overrated "cherry-picker"?

for the new "pacfans" on YA The Argument that Manny Pacquiao is Overrated By Nathan Nau - The legacy of Manny Pacquiao has yet to be determined. Will he be remembered as pound-for-pound one of the greatest fighters in boxing history or for his lavish life style? One this is certain, the Pilipino sensation covets the bright lights, whether it’s wining championships in seven different weight classes, traveling with a giant entourage, being on the cover of Time Magazine or having aspirations of becoming President of the Philippines. The great mathematician Democritus once stated: “I would rather discover one scientific fact than become King of Persia..” I sadly, but admittedly, will never become the King of Persia or President of the Philippines, but after analyzing Pacquiao’s boxing career one fact becomes apparent – a statistically significant argument can be made that the current pound-for-pound kingpin is either slightly overrated or his opponents have been strategically selected. One fact that cannot be argued is on average Manny Pacquiao has been fighting opponents that are considerably older, have been recently defeated or are statistically proven to be on the decline. Since his last lost, Pacquiao, 30, has gone on an eleven fight winning streak, with his opponent’s average age being 31. During the winning streak, Pacquiao’s average age at the time each respective bout took place was 28. A three year age advantage may seem minute, but boxers that have consistent success in the lower weight classes typically have tremendous speed. Pacquiao is known for and does have world-class speed in his repertoire, but does consistently fighting opponents in their early 30’s help protect and even boost his speed advantage? In addition to an age advantage, statistics prove that Pacquiao has been fighting opponents that have been recently defeated or are on the decline. During his present winning streak, the average winning percentage of Pacquiao’s opponents throughout their entire career is an impressive 94%. However, when further analyzing the data it becomes apparent that the average winning percentage of Pacquiao’s opponents during the five fights leading up to the their respective bout declines to 84% and the average winning percentage of his opponents after their bout took place, not including the loss to Pacquiao, drops to a measly 67%. Considering the data at hand, can the argument be made that Pacquiao is consistently fighting opponents that are older, statistically on the decline and have been recently defeated? Attacking Pacquiao’s opponents is a logical choice to the argument that he is overrated. Why hasn’t the score been settled with a game and willing Juan Manuel Marquez? Why did Pacquiao fight a recently defeated and in some cases “over-the-hill” Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya and Marco Antonio Barrerra? Insiders within the sport will profoundly point out that tougher matchups exist for Pacquiao, such as Shane Mosley or the much younger Andre Berto. Rumors are swirling that Arum and Pacquiao are even interested in moving up to the 154lb division in an attempt to become an eight division world champion. Pacquiao’s opponent of choice in this dangerous move: of course, the unheralded Yuri Foreman. If Pacquiao wants a challenge, how does a David versus Goliath matchup with the giant Paul Williams sound? On average are Manny Pacquiao’s opponents are older, on the decline or carefully selected – certainly. However, what does that really mean? Pacquiao cannot control that his competition are fighting other champions or top contenders, hence the losses, or that Bob Arum is thinking about money, his fighters legacy, and money again when deliberating on his next bout. One thing is certain, Pacquiao is a great fighter and the only outstanding item worth deliberating is where the Pilipino phenom ranks versus the legends of boxing? Presumably, on January 11th, two fighters will be in New York City to announce a mega fight that will take place on March 13 of 2010 and will not only settle the score of who is pound-for-pound the best fighter in the world today, but where Pacquiao, and even Floyd Mayweather’s, rightful ranks is among the legends of the sport of boxing.source: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=22179&more=1 more

Resolved Question: Doesn't geography disprove religions?

Take a look at the world map. Generally, Christianity is more dominant in the west. Islam is dominant in the middle east (Pakistan for example I can recall off the top of my head that 99% of theists are Muslim there) and there are other religions with a significant number of people further to the east. (If you have to find the statistics yourself go ahead I can't be bothered copy and pasting) Clearly then it is obvious that if you are born in a western country, you are probably going to be Christian (of some sort). If you are born in the Middle East, you are probably going to be a Muslim. Further East there is a significant probability you may be a Hindu or Buddhist. Now I know there are the odd convertions from and to whatever religion, but in the bigger picture this doesn't happen often enough to be significant at all. (Note how I have said PROBABLY not definitely) Thoughts? more

Resolved Question: Why don't American women charge for their services?

Statistics say most people have pre-marital sex in the US. Same applies to Canada and the rest of the Western hemisphere (and most likely, rest of the world as well). So why don't such women simply charge for their services? 15 sexual partners on average x even a $100 would give them $1500 to help pay for college (for the 27% of college graduates in the US) or their divorce when they hit 32 (avg. age of divorce in America). Resolved Question: Worlds strongest man statistics?

i'm 29 & an ex Navy SEAL. I still keep up my routines closr to what they once were. I wake up at 6am & run 6 miles before work. I once could do 50 miles in a day but i can only do about 40 these days. I squat around 750, do 500 crunches without stopping, do 300 lbs in one arm, & bench over 600. People tell me i should try WSM contest but i don't want to. I'm only 5'9 & i don't look that strong. Alot of my strength comes from mental techniques i learned in South Asia. Should i take their advice & go for it or is 29 too old for that kind of thing. Anybody have the lifting stats for the WSM? more

Resolved Question: On a scale from 1-20, what is my high school schedule?

Next year i will be in water polo again, Christian Club, do more community service, Red Cross Club, Key Club, Recycle Club, French Club, and i will be taking buisness classes at my local community college20 being the best, 1 being the worstyea, i do live in california, and good luck getting in to you also. my main objective is to not get my application accepted, i am certain that it will be, but my object is to get almost a full scholarship, and that is what will be very difficult, my parents have almost no extra money. i cannot take any other anatomy classes because my school only offers one. i may be able to take the class over again and ask the teacher to give me very difficult tests and assignments to help me prepare for medical school.oh yeah and if you would have paid more attention you would notice that i am not going to be taking ap statistics at school, i will be self-studying it so it will not be counted to my GPA.did you not look at the additional details, i will have nearly no problem getting into UCLA, my problem is getting a full scholarship, and do you not realize that i can't get an A in a self study class, and just because you cannot handle that many classes does not mean i cannot, i remember nearly everything the first time i hear, or read it, the same thing goes with understanding things. i am also already studying for ap microeconomics, ap macroeconomics, ap statistics, ap biology, ap world history, i already know an enormous amount of information regarding human anatomy and physiology, i have already taken physics classes in college, am the highest in my grade level regarding english, french, all sciences, history, and am the only one who has already been recomended for ap physics c, magnetism and gravity, and ap biology, so do not tell me what i can and cannot do. i am also going to UCLA for their summer program to get my name entered into their database.thank you Mike, oh and i have Princeton AP Review books for every single one of those AP classes i have posted. I have already taken biochemistry at my local community college to prepare me, and i have asked my summer school honors biology teacher to give me chemistry work to keep me sharp for AP Biology. more

Resolved Question: Questions about AP credits and college classes?

Okay, So I'm taking quite a bit of AP classes and I was just wondering what kinds of credits I will get in college as well as which classes I will need to take for my major. Okay, I've taken the following AP classes so far: AP Human Geography (scored a 3 on the exam) AP World History (results pending; probably a 3 or 4 though) AP Biology (results pending; I definitely owned this exam though, at least a 4, possibly a 5) AP Statistics (results pending; probably a 3 or 4) These are the classes I'm taking the upcoming year (I'm going into the 11th grade): AP Government & Economics AP Calculus AB AP Physics AP Language As for my senior year, I'm thinking of Dual-Enrolling at UCF and taking some courses there. Now, I would like to know the classes I knock out with the above AP Classes. Also, I want to major in Biotechnology (UCF offers a Bachelors in it) and possibly go on to med school from there. I know which classes I need to take for the major, but I don't know which classes I need to take BEFORE I focus on my major. So which classes do I not have to take (since I took the AP classes) and which ones do I need to take. Also, any recommendations for the classes I should take my senior year since I'm dual-Enrolling. Thanks in advance!! more

Resolved Question: Do you think that race is really that relevant in the real world when it comes to dating?

I sometimes travel across sections as well (I travel in real life too ha) and I always read remarks saying how most Asian girls would prefer a White guy if they date out, how most Latinas would prefer a Black or White guy if they date out, how most Black girls would only prefer a White or Latin guy if they date out and how most Indian girls would only prefer a White guy if they date out. Of course statistics say it is true that most Asian girls when they date out prefer White guys, most Black girls usually go for Black or Latin guys, most Indian girls usually go for White guys and most Latinas only go for White or Black guys. Now in real life, lets say you had a Black guy that wanted to date an Asian or Indian girl, or a Black girl that wanted to date an Asian guy, or an Indian girl that wanted to date a Black guy or a Latina that wanted an Asian or Indian guy, how tough of a time would those people have accomplishing their goal? more
