Open Question: the apparel women wear vs causes of rape?

with the apparel women wear today vs back when vs the cause of per say "rape" or "molestation", or other crimes of this sort. before moving forward, i will try my best not to knock nor show any disrespect or being inconsiderate to victims of , i think it is wrong. i haven't yet seen statistics of rape or cases as they evolved, or when per say the first reported case of. i will be looking for however I honestly am not trying to judge any one, not trying to be perverted in anyway what so ever. Not knocking freedom, not trying to knock anything, not saying not to wear what your little heart desires not trying to be prude, out of date, i am straight, just posing hypothetical questions. maybe i should leave them alone but to get people thinking. But with the clothes you wear now a days, be it too low, showing cleavage, up too high showing well you know.. or too tight, leaving no room for imagination. what is the deal. not pointing, not blaming, not bashing. i am not saying to or not too wear what you want. i am merely stating or posing the question, to get some understanding. it could make you look less then you could be a true, real person, Fake almost. not real, putting on a show to get attention, do you want to be looked at and admired. are you advertising, i mean when stores want to sell the merchandise they advertise it, put it on display. honestly could it not make you look cheap. sluttish almost. i mean, if you don't want men looking, don't wear clothes like that. so why wear clothes like that? WHY? to put it like this, say a store wants to sale a product, unless they put up displays or advertisements no one may know that they have a particular product they are trying to sale, they go out of business, no one buys that product or don't sell enough. ok say a yard sale or garage sale, unless you put signs up or put ad in local paper. how many customers would you get. no one would know, you might get some, but unless you lure that buyer or customer in, using that illustration, , . just stating, "COULD" it be ... the apparel .... that is worn, be luring, or tempting or EVEN enticing to persay to a predator looking for, i mean what attracted the predator to begin with, beyond being a sicko person, but something lured or attracted that sicko to do what he/she did, WHAT? i have asked this question before and i got a response of wearing a bikini, ok, so you change the fabric and color perhaps what is difference in undergarments vs a bikini. i mean probably would not won't to be caught dead out side in your undergarments but go outside in bikini, showing same amount. not bashing, just questioningno, no one has been rape, but "COULD", the apparent clothing being worn .... provoke ...., not saying will or won't but "could", i am just merely posing questions more

Resolved Question: Do some supporters of illegal aliens think twisting the truth helps their argument?

Earlier, I asked why some supporters of illegal aliens claim illegal aliens don't receive free medical care, when they do. I supplied a link to support my information from a story printed in the New York Times. To my utter amazement, someone actually claimed the Times is a Conservative newspaper! Whaaaatttt???? So, are the Rasmussen Reports also Conservative biased? Resolved Question: We all know American citizens commit crimes, so what's your point?

Any time the subject of crimes committed by illegal aliens is presented, the supporters of the illegals counter with, "Crimes are committed by citizens, too!" or, "What about the crimes committed by Americans?" We know this. That is why we don't mind when our tax money goes to law enforcement agencies with the expectation that crime is prevented, criminals are apprehended and punished. So, what is the point they are trying to make? We have enough crime in our country, admittedly committed by some of our own citizens. Why shouldn't we be outraged by crimes committed by people who shouldn't even be here in the first place? Btw, for those of you who like to argue that crime is down in the border states, have you considered... “One reason is that illegals aren’t staying here anymore,” said Valley resident Joann Budziszewski. “They are moving to other parts of the country. Voting Question: Would you allow your child to have Gardasil? Are you aware of the dangers?

mY 13 year old daughter was injured by Gardasil and completely disabled for the past year. Merck got it right when they used the slogan "One Less" for Gardasil. Because of Gardasil, my daughter was "One Less". She was "One Less Student", "One Less Active Child", "One Less in every aspect of her life". Take it from a mother who has spent the past year sitting by my child's bedside wondering if she would die in her sleep. INVESTIGATE BEFORE YOU VACCINATE. DO NOT trust your doctor to make this decision. If you want to understand Merck's role in the medical community, investigate some of their former wonderdrugs such as VIOXX and then marvel at how many people died from it before it was pulled off the market. The CDC AND FDA need to do their job and get this off the market before more children are harmed. The public is not aware of VAERS and the #'s are grossly understated. I have had to tell my child's doctors about VAERS and make them file reports or she would not be one of the current statistics in VAERS. Even then, her information has not been entered correctly so I know that VAERS is not what it should be. Please do not let this happen to your child. more

Voting Question: Did anybody see this & opinions please Human trafficking second only to drugs in Mexico?

This requires a few minutes to read>please skip if you cannot read for more than 3o seconds.(CNN) -- Mario Santos likely never made it to the United States. The 18-year-old set out 10 years ago from his native El Salvador in search of opportunity and a better way of life. But he had to travel north through Mexico first. A short while after leaving, he called his parents to tell them he had been beaten and robbed in Mexico, left penniless and without shoes or clothes. It was the last they heard from him. While it's not certain that Santos is dead, he probably suffered the same fate as 72 migrants from Central and South America whose bodies were found this week in a ranch in northern Mexico, just 90 miles from the U.S. border. Officials are investigating whether they were the victims of human traffickers or drug cartels that prey on migrants. It's a fate that officials say befalls thousands of Central and South Americans every year. "It's brutal," says Peter Hakim, president emeritus of the Inter-American Dialogue, a non-partisan Washington policy institute. "This is very big business. It's very brutal." Video: 72 bodies found in Mexican ranch RELATED TOPICS Mexico Human Rights Drug Trafficking It is indeed big business. Human trafficking is one of the most lucrative forms of crime worldwide after drug and arms trafficking, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime said in April. In Mexico, it is a $15 billion- to $20 billion-a-year endeavor, second only to drug trafficking, said Samuel Logan, founding director of Southern Pulse, an online information network focused on Latin America. "And that may be a conservative estimate," Logan said. That money, which used to go mostly to smugglers, now also flows into the hands of drug cartel members. The Center for Strategic and International Studies, a bipartisan, nonprofit policy institute based in Washington, noted in an August report that human smuggling and other illegal activities are playing an increasingly important role as narcotraffickers diversify their activities. "The drug cartels have not confined themselves to selling narcotics," the report said. "They engage in kidnapping for ransom, extortion, human smuggling and other crimes to augment their incomes." Some cartels have come to rely more in recent years on human smuggling. "For the Zetas, it's been one of their main revenue streams for years," Logan said about the vicious cartel, which operates mostly in northeastern Mexico. Cartel involvement has increased the risk for migrants crossing through Mexico to get to the United States, said Mexico's National Commission for Human Rights. An investigation by the commission showed that 9,758 migrants were abducted from September 2008 to February 2009, or about 1,600 per month. No one knows exactly how many people try to make the passage every year. The human rights organization Amnesty International estimates it as tens of thousands. More than 90 percent of them are Central Americans, mostly from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, Amnesty International said in a report this year. And the vast majority of these migrants, the rights group said, are headed for the United States. "Their journey is one of the most dangerous in the world," Amnesty International said. "Every year, thousands of migrants are kidnapped, threatened or assaulted by members of criminal gangs," the rights group said. "Extortion and sexual violence are widespread and many migrants go missing or are killed. Few of these abuses are reported and in most cases those responsible are never held to account." An indication of how many people attempt the trip can be found in statistics compiled by Mexico's National Migration Service, which tracks how many migrants are detained and returned to their countries of origin each year. Experts note that these are only the migrants who get caught, and that many -- even most -- are not apprehended. Nonetheless, the Mexican agency said it detained 64,061 migrants last year, 60,383 of whom were from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. About 20 percent of them were females and about 8 percent were under the age of 18. Some were under 10. http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/08/26/mexico.human.trafficking/#fbid=v96fLsfRr0L&wom=true Good thing Obama has the border secured more

Resolved Question: Death Penalty Question?

I'm doing some research on the Death Penalty in the United States. I was looking for statistics on the Death Penalty. More specifically, I was looking for cost statistics on the death penalty. I have read several reports saying it actually costs less for life imprisonment as opposed to the costs associated with the endless appeals process that takes place when someone is given the Death Penalty. Resolved Question: Various studies for men and women in the USA show more men than women are either Gay or Bi?

The famous Kinsey Institute report often is cited as evidence that 10% of the population is homosexual. In his book, Is It a Choice?: Answers to 300 of the Most Frequently Asked Questions About Gays and Lesbians, Eric Marcus used the Kinsey studies to demonstrate that one in ten people is homosexual (1993). In truth, Kinsey never reported figures that high. The Kinsey Report clearly stated that: “Only about 4 percent of the men [evaluated] were exclusively homosexual throughout their entire lives.... Only 2 or 3 percent of these women were exclusively homosexual their entire lives” (see Reinisch and Beasley, 1990, p. 140). However, there is good reason to believe that the real percentage is not even this high. While no one has carried out a door-to-door census, we do have a fairly accurate estimate. Interestingly, these statistics came to light in an amicus curiae (“friend of the court”) brief filed with the U.S. Supreme Court on March 26, 2003, in the Lawrence vs. Texas case (commonly known as the Texas sodomy case). On page 16 of this legal brief, footnote 42 revealed that 31 homosexual and pro-homosexual groups admitted the following: The most widely accepted study of sexual practices in the United States is the National Health and Social Life Survey (NHSLS). The NHSLS found that 2.8% of the male, and 1.4% of the female population identify themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual (Laumann, et al., 1994). The study also found that only 0.9% of men and 0.4% of women reported having only same-sex partners since age 18—a figure that would represent a total of only 1.4 million Americans as homosexual (based on the last census report, showing roughly 292 million people living in America). The resulting accurate figures demonstrate that significantly less than one percent of the American population claims to be homosexual. The NHSLS results are similar to a survey conducted by the Minnesota Adolescent Health Survey (1986) of public school students. The survey showed that only 0.6% of the boys and 0.2% of the girls identified themselves as “mostly or 100% homosexual.” The 2000 census sheds even more light on the subject. The overall statistics from the 2000 Census Bureau revealed: * The total population of the U.S. is 285,230,516. * The total number of households in the U.S. is 106,741,426. * The total number of unmarried same-sex households is 601,209. Thus, out of a population of 106,741,426 households, homosexuals represent 0.42% of those households. That is less than one half of one percent! There was a BBC poll across many countries and it only received an 8% bisexuality/lesbian from women. A whopping 92% were not. Men fair little better but perhaps most men would not own up to that one in the UKEDUCATIONAL DEAR CHAPDuh some of the sources are cited. I don't know what your problem is go find it yourself and go see my other Questions on page 2 on my profile. And Beaner that only makes for more men who are gay or bi then doesn't it. more

Resolved Question: Addition to "What does chiropractic "treat"?

A health care industry is not rated based upon its merits for its lack of death rates. I fully support a health care arena that embraces the best of everything to the end of benefiting the patient. Now it is said that medicine is more dangerous than chiro. This is merely a numbers game. Chiros do not have life threatening cases present to the office whereas medical/ER does (in great numbers) and in the normal course of life death does occur. What I find intriguing is how the alt med haters will thump the book of scientific literature when referring to alt med and saying it is not "proven" but when this death rate comes up there is no literature in the scientific community that can show us any statistics about the death rate of chiropractic care, but it is clearly published about death rates due to iatrogenic causes and the like. For example, according to a 1996 British Medical Journal report, "Americans were shocked when it was revealed that as many as three million hospital patients are injured or killed each year because of medical accidents and that 30% of all those patients experienced adverse drug reactions." But lets not pull out the death card when comparing our two distinguished professions. Let us compare the merits. It is without a doubt the medical profession is a vital and necessary part of society and culture. At the same time there is room for chiropractic care for those that wish to seek it. Chiro is mainly known for neuro-muscular conditions and it does very well in that arena. The literature says it is as effective if not slightly more effective that interventional medicine ie drugs, surgery, physical therapy. So if you have a health care model that can effectively handle something like lower back pain, which costs the US economy approx $100 million, is the # one reason that people call in sick to work and is the # 2 reason why people visit their doctor, then why dont you let it do it? At every corner and at every avenue there has to be some nurse, or medical doctor screaming how bad chiro care is or minimizing its efficacy! On June 16, 2009, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius submitted a report to Congress, evaluating chiropractic services under Medicare. A survey was conducted of 3,464 people seeking chiro care for pain and/or difficulty walking, whose symptoms were described as severe or very severe, with 2/3 of those patients reporting that their symptoms "interfered considerably" in their usual daily activities. They were treated with chiro adjustments and various physical therapy modalities like EMS, ultrasound, ice and heat. The astonishing results (to those outside chiro, anyway) were as follows: of the approximately 2500 people who responded to the survey, 60% of the respondents got “complete” or “a lot” of symptomatic relief from chiro care, with 87% reporting a satisfaction rating of 8, 9, or 10. The patients who received “moderate” or “complete” relief from treatment by other strategies, like pills, injections, or surgery was 11%. If my math is right, then it’s about five times more likely that a patient suffering from severe neuro-musculo-skeletal symptoms will respond to chiro care than any other discipline. If I was suffering from severe neuro-musculo-skeletal symptoms, I think I’d want to know that. Put aside the likelihood of iatrogenic consequences and side effects, or the cost-effectiveness, let’s just look at these outcomes for a second. If you were hurting, wouldn’t you want the approach that gave five times better results? Dr. Narson comments, “Chiropractic is clearly validated as an effective form of treatment for those with neuro-musculo-skeletal conditions such as back pain, neck pain, hip pain and shoulder pain. It’s time that the medical profession – welcomes chiropractic physicians as partners in the treatment of these conditions for the benefit of the patient." I fully believe in medicine when applied appropriately just like I believe that chiro care should be applied appropriately. I do not agree with the chiros out there who scream and rant that chiro care "cure" or "treat" diseases. I do not agree with the perversion of the medical field that over medicates patients simply because the patients are demanding it. I hope that some of the people who post on this forum who attack alt med can simply put down the pitchfork of hate and ask themselves how does spewing hate and deference help anybody? The power you wield as a person of education and as a nurse or doctor deserves the respect of an open mind. How do you know that something you write may resonate with a person in the public and cause them to make a choice that may not benefit them 100%? You owe it to yourself, your profession and your patients to have a full toolbox at your disposal, not just one that fits your needs. It is not your need but rather the need of the patient that comes first. This @ Rhianna: I emailed you to let you know that you have been unblocked. Are you saying that the report delivered by HHS is invalid? It clearly shows that chiro is nearly 5x more effective for LBP!! The meta-analysis you indicate shows no vast difference?? Lets be reasonable...you compare a meta analysis to a study by HHS? Do you simply discard this study because it doesnt support you? You mention mild neuromusc and soft tissue only. Have you ever had an acute LBP or acute radiculitis that is unresponsive to conventional medicine? If not, there is nothing "mild" about it and it can be debilitating and life altering. I have seen many cases of the sort and have seen patients not only heal, but thrive in a chiropractic setting, drug free. Please be respectful for those that have and are dealing with acute spinal issues. "The interest of the patient is the only interest to be considered"- Dr. William J Mayo more

So I decided to ask you ! to please help explain.(: The current chapter I'm working on focuses on understand and identifying the "W's" of Statistics- The Who, What, When, Where,Why & hoW when applicable. I'm going to add a sample problem & if you could please help me identify what is what & explain it would be greatly appreciated ! #3 , Owing to several major ocean oil spills by tank vessels, Congress passed the 1990 Oil Pollution Act, which requires all tankers to be designed with thicker hulls. Further improvement in the structural design of a tank vessel have been proposed since then, each with the objective of reducing the likelihood of an oil spill and decreasing the amount of outflow in the event of a hull puncture. To aid in this development, "Marine Technology" reported on the spillage amount and cause of puncture for 50 recent major oil spills from tankers & carriers. PS , to anybody's who gonna say stuff because I'm asking for homework help , I didn't even use a problem that was included on the assignment. more

Resolved Question: If Obama's deportation rate surpasses numbers from Bush, then why do some people say he's not doing his job?

or that he doesn't care to enforce immigration laws? I've heard some people on here say this, but Obama has deported way more people than Bush ever did, and he's focusing on people with more serious crimes. ========================== Obama's deportation rate surpasses numbers from Bush administration PHOENIX -- The Obama administration is deporting more illegal immigrants than even before, undermining blasts by Republicans, including Gov. Jan Brewer, that it is failing in its duty to deal with the problem. Statistics put together by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University show that more illegal immigrants were removed from the United States during the first nine months of this fiscal year than during the same period in 2008. That is when Republican George W. Bush was in the White House and his administration controlled Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In fact, the number of those ejected from the country between Oct. 1, 2009 and June 30 of this year is nearly twice as much as it was in the same period ending June 30, 2005. The TRAC report also shows that the Obama administration is devoting more of its resources to removing those who have committed serious crimes. Brewer's criticism of the Obama administration has been egged on by others. That includes former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin who said just days ago, "if our own president will not enforce our federal law, more power to Jan Brewer.' Resolved Question: If there are five Immigrant Cities on list of top ten safest cities, why do people want to get rid of and stop?

as many immigrants as they can? The growing Anti-immigration movement is about getting rid of and stopping immigrants from coming to the US. So if there are 5 immigrant cities that are on the list of the top ten safest cities in America, why would anybody want to support the Anti-immigration Movement? ============================ Five Immigrant Cities on List of Top Ten Safest Cities Recently, an independent study listed the top ten safest cities in the United States based on FBI crime statistics in areas with populations over 500,000. Half of the cities that made the list are cities "largely populated by immigrants," and two are border cities. It turns out that if you are looking for a big city low on crime and high on probability of awesome food you might want to consider living in El Paso, Texas; New York, New York; San Jose, California; San Diego, California; or Los Angeles, California. They are safe because of immigration. Multiple studies throughout the past decade show that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than native-born Americans, and that immigration is partially responsible for decreases in homicide and robbery in places with large foreign-born populations. The city rankings come on the heels of another independent study, a recent polling of residents in border communities across Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and California. An overwhelming majority of border residents report feeling safe in their neighborhood, and it's not surprising because crime on the border has also been steadily decreasing. Living along the U.S. side of the border is actually one of the safest places to live. Read more: http://immigration.change.org/blog/view/five_immigrant_cities_on_list_of_top_ten_safest_cities more

Voting Question: Please help me with this! Statistics!:(?

Suppose that on-the-job injuries in a textile mill occur at the rate of 0.1 per day. The management team of the textile mill needs to declare to the local government the projected number of on-the-job injuries next (5-day) workweek. Occupational Health law requires the declaration to be at least 98.5% accurate. On the other hand, the president of the company wants the management team to keep the declared number as low as possible, because the higher the projected number of on-the-job injuries, the more unnecessary attention from the authorities the mill will get. Given these considerations, what figure should the management team report? Assume that the occurrence of on-thejob injuries in the textile mill follows a Poission distribution. more

Voting Question: Can any one Paraphrase this sentence?

In 1992, a United Nations report called job stress “The 20th century disease.” Similarly the World Health Organisation (WHO) said that it had become a “world wide epidemic.” In the decade since then, ongoing change, mergers, and organizational anorexia due to downsizings and ‘rightsizings’ has produced a workforce that is working harder, less able to balance work and home, more insecure about their future, far more stressed and far less productive. Current statistics explain that over the last 20 years, there has been grown recognition of job stress an important occupational health problem and even bigger problem than we credit it. In western society, work is the primary factor for stress. Although every industry and careers has its own unique set of problems and sources of stress, and each job carries its specific requirements, stress can be reduced. The question arises how do we reduce or overcome stress in our work environment and how do we take care of ourselves in order to cope in stressful environment (Cohen, 2001). It is widely recognized that stress is dynamic, and therefore, within an organizational context it needs to be continually evaluated and reviewed if organizations are to sustain and develop employee health and well being. Resolved Question: FOX news! Who would've guessed?

You conservatives can come out of the closet now and admit that FOX is biased. Because today, the FOX news corporation gave a 1 million dollar donation to the Republican Governors Association. Fox also hosts such personalities as Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mike Huckabee. All of these personalities visciously defend the Bush administration. According to Pew Poll, 24% claimed FOX to be unbiased. According to MSNBC, 27% claimed FOX to be unbiased. According to CNN, 33% claimed FOX to be unbiased. According to Rasmussen Reports, 36% claimed FOX to be unbiased. By personal observation, I think the most hilarious thing about FOX news is that whenever there is a debate, the only way that the anchors can be successful is by shouting over the guest, repeating themselves, and outright ignoring the guest. Whenever the guest manages to get a few words in about their bias or politics, they usually say it is time for the guest to leave. If you are one of these statistics, explain why. FOX News,"Fair & Balanced".I do not watch MSNBC because it is as liberal as FOX is conservative. I know that ABC has a slight liberal bias, so I try to watch it and a few slightly conservative stations to give me multiple views to form my opinion on. more

Resolved Question: Is Mexico annexing the U.S. through their so-called “anchor babies?

The widely known but always down-played Reconquista Movement is alive and well and coming to a town near you. Mexico is taking much of this country through very aggressive illegal immigration, as well as an equally aggressive birth rate. The Pew Hispanic Center just announced the results of a recent study which found that of the 4.3 million babies born in the U.S., during 2008, about 340,000 were born to illegal aliens. The study found that children born to illegal aliens account for 7 percent of the total population of people under the age of 18, or 5.1 million children. 79 percent of those children were born in the United States, automatically making them U.S. citizens. The goal of the Reconquista Movement was once designed to takeover the southwestern border states of California, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. However, through the exploitation of the 14th Amendment, illegal aliens are now building colonies in every state of the union. The following statistics provided by the U.S. Census Bureau are staggering and frightening: -In 2005, Latinos accounted for half of the U.S. population growth. -The total U.S. population more than doubled from 131.7 million in 1940 to 290.8 million in 2003, the Latino population increased nearly 30 times in that same period. In 1940, the Latino population within the U.S. was 1.4 million, by 2003 it had swelled to 40 million. -Between 2000-2003, the Latino population within the U.S. grew at a rate of 13 percent, while the U.S. non-Latino population grew at a rate of only 0.8 percent during the same period. -Recently, the ethnocentric Latino group known as La Raza proudly reported on their website that 85 percent of the Latino population under 18 were born inside the United States. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 80 percent of our Latino population is age 44 or younger, which means that the vast majority of Latinos in the U.S. are still of child-bearing age. With the unchecked illegal immigration crisis, this country will become another Latin American nation in our lifetime. What will this mean to you?...The disappearance of the English language, the destruction of our traditional American culture, the over-population of our cities, epidemics of once-thought eradicated diseases, crushing poverty, and soaring crime. Considering the fact that illegal aliens already account for 29 percent of this nation's prison population, we can expect that prison building will become the new growth industry. Public schools will only teach English as a second language, and municipal services will be stretched beyond their limits. But the real problem will be that our politics will be controlled by those whose loyalties actually lie with another nation. Once our political system becomes dominated by illegal aliens and their offspring, our resources will no longer be our own, but will be used only to benefit Mexico. If an effort is not made to protect our border with Mexico and we do not soon adopt a sensible immigration policy--the United States as we know it will cease to exist in the near future. http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-35821-Immigration-Reform-Examiner~y2010m8d12-Is-Mexico-annexing-the-US-through-their-socalled-anchor-babies more

Voting Question: can anyone help w/ fixing my grammar? im a international student...?

Please help... im a international student. Hewlett-Packard Company is known as world’s largest maker of personal computers and also one of the world's largest information technology companies operates in nearly every country. William R. Hewlett and David Packard found this company in 1939. HP’s Major product lines include personal computing devices, enterprise servers, related storage devices, as well as a diverse range of printers and other imaging products. They are targeting in variety of fields; households, small to medium sized businesses and as well as online distribution, consumer-electronics and office-supply retailers, software partners and major technology vendors. As a world’s largest information technology company, there are still few problems that company is facing. Few of the problems that HP is facing are drop in sales, decline in imaging and printing group avenue, and decline in software revenue. One of the major problem that HP is facing is that drop in sales. HP saw its sales dropped 19 percent to $8.19 billion: PCs, Printers, Servers, and Software. There are some possible reasons why the sale has declined due to possible economic crisis, quality of products, trend of new technologies, and other competitors in the market. By looking at an evidence of constant drops of HP’s sales, there are some possibilities that HP’s sales wouldn’t improve in anytime soon. At this point, serious action must be taken to solve this problem. There are many ways to solve the issues starting from switching the locations/territories, and plan a better advertisement/marketing strategy. But my recommendation to this solution is to improve products and sales by managing the relationship between development and sales team, and catch up with the new trend of the technologies and hit the market with the new product that has same benefit, much more convenient, and more affective compared to PC products. To support my thought of recommendation, besides looking at the formal graph of statistics, we can easily find the mobile phone that has same function as computer. According to Forrester Researcher Report, they have researched and has clearly announced with their back up evidence that PC sales will continue to decline, much as they have for the past several years. Just by planning or making a first step into this industry will have a huge impact of HP’s future. more

Resolved Question: Feminists, why does ze patriarchy conspire to pay women at the top in business more than their male equals?

or is it more likely your organisation is conspiring to mislead you about the nature of reality for their own ends. A Carnegie Mellon University study has concluded that women executives out-earn their male counterparts. The study, which examined 16,000 executives over 14 years, found that women at the top of the business world bring in a bit more than men and are promoted at the same rate, countering the popular notion that women earn less than men for the same work. "That common perception is not borne out by this study," said Robert A. Miller, professor of economics and strategy and one of the authors. "If you're looking for evidence of gender discrimination in executive promotion and compensation, it's not happening there." The study, "Are There Glass Ceilings for Female Executives?," was released last month by Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business but hasn't been published yet. The largest empirical analysis of the top echelons of publicly traded companies determined that women earned about $100,000 more per year than men of the same age, educational background and experience. Unlike some studies that have relied on aggregate statistics to indicate a gender pay gap, this one took multiple variables into account. "Once you control for the position that they're in, that is, their rank, and you control for experience and control for their education, background and turnover, once you do that you find that they earn a little more," said Dr. Miller. The paper does not address why women make more and not the same as men, although one possibility is that women who rise to the top of corporations have some innate qualities that haven't been -- and maybe can't be -- quantified. Female executives on the whole still earn less than male executives, but that's because more women quit before they reach the top, the study says. "At any given level of the career hierarchy, women are paid slightly more than men with the same background, have slightly less income uncertainty and are promoted as quickly," it concludes. "We concluded that the gender pay gap and differences in job rank in this most lucrative occupation is explained by females leaving the market at higher rates than males." Why they quit is harder to explain. Younger women opt out of the work force to have babies, but the average age for executives in the study was 53, beyond the child-bearing years. Yet female executives still retire earlier than men and are more likely to switch careers. The CMU paper offers some possible reasons, including "more unpleasantries, indignities and tougher, unrewarding assignments" at work. The authors also suggest that women over time acquire "more nonmarket human capital" than men -- meaning connections outside the workplace -- that make retirement more attractive. "They're definitely leaving and we don't know why," said Dr. Miller. "That's the variable." He and the other researchers, George-Levi Gayle and Limor Golan, both assistant professors of economics, hope to address that issue in the future by controlling for the rate of retirement. "That is the piece that we want to write next," he said. The study didn't initially seek to analyze gender inequity but rather to look at the role of "human capital" -- skills and knowledge -- in determining promotions at corporations. "But this sort of jumped out and hit us in the face," said Dr. Miller. Some studies had indicated female executives were paid the same as men, but those didn't address the rate of promotion as this one does, he said. More recent studies reached similar conclusions. A report released last month by The Corporate Library, a research firm in Maine, said women corporate directors earn 15 percent more than male counterparts, although they are still outnumbered 8-1 by men on boards. The CMU study compiled data representing 60 different job titles at more than 1,800 companies between 1992 and 2006. In addition to examining promotion rates, the researchers also analyzed total compensation, including benefits, bonuses, retirement packages and stock options in addition to salary. Overall, the study concluded that job turnover and tenure are better indicators of compensation than gender. Resolved Question: statistics question (help please)?

Hi, I need urgently the solution of this question. If you help, I really appreciate it. Thanks The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) was designed to select the top two teams in college football for a final championship game. The teams are selected by a complicated formula. In 2001, the University of Miami Hurricanes and the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers played for the championship. However, many football fans thought that Nebraska should not have played in the game because it was rated only fourth in both major opinion polls. Third-ranked University of Colorado fans were particularly upset because Colorado soundly beat the Cornhuskers late in the season. A new CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll reports that a majority of fans would prefer a national championship play-off as an alternative to the BCS. The news media polled a random sample of 1019 adults 18 years of age or older. A summary of the results states that 54% prefer the play-off, and the margin of error is 3% for 95% confidence. Question 1) How many adults preferred a play off? Round to the nearest whole number. Questions 2) What is the lower bound of the 95% confidence interval? Round to three decimal places. more

Resolved Question: How the panic over rape was orchestrated - Misleading stats on conviction rates?

"For years the Home Office and the former Lord Chancellor’s Department have misled the media about rape statistics – and allowed the media to misinform the public.". "Rape is the only crime judged by the attrition rate. All others – murder, assault, robbery, and so on – are assessed by their conviction rates. Why? The question is best addressed to Betty Moxon who, in 2000, was head of the Sex Offenders Review Team (SORT) for whom I wrote the minority report." Article tables and graphs here. http://www.straightstatistics.org/article/how-panic-over-rape-was-orchestrated What do you think G/S?In the most recent edition of More or Less, broadcast last Friday and still available as a podcast, Ruth Alexander questioned why rape has been made an exception. Referring to a new report soon to be published by London Metropolitan University she said it claimed that Britain had the worst record in Europe for rape convictions. Over recent years, she said, the report showed that the conviction rate had fallen from 10 per cent to 6.5 per cent. But this is based on the misleading attrition rate. When real conviction rates are calculated on a common basis with other crimes, her report endorses our findings of 2000 (and subsequent years), namely that it is more commonly in the 48-52 per cent bracket. Her latest figure, for 2007, was 47 per cent.Feminist posting as a male. Resolved Question: America NEEDS regime change, how long can we last without it?

Tom Blumer writes at PajamasMedia today "The Two-Tiered Economy": Anything resembling normalcy ended when the POR [Pelosi-Obama-Reid] economy kicked in. Since then, downward disappointments have happened so often that the word “unexpectedly” associated with bad news has become a running joke in the center-right blogosphere. This is occurring because so many small businesses are either out of business, seriously contracting, or treading water. For the most part, they’re not hiring. Understandably, it takes the statisticians a while to figure this out. A prime example of disappointment occurred when the Bureau of Labor Statistics adjusted its originally reported job losses for calendar 2009 in its January 2010 report. All of a sudden, the number of people employed fell by over 600,000. The worst example of a subsequent statistical meltdown occurred with GDP during the third quarter of 2008. That quarter also “just happened” to be the first quarter of the POR economy and of the recession as normal people define it. At the end of its initial round of reports, the government thought the economy had contracted by an annualized 0.5%. Subsequent comprehensive revisions took that number first to -2.1%, then to -2.7%. The government’s July 30 GDP report whacked it down to an annualized -4.0% — eight times worse than originally thought. The cratering occurred because businesses large and small, entrepreneurs, and investors saw the regime uncertainty that was coming (some call it “utter lawlessness“) and battened down the hatches. Since then, though some of their behavior smacks of trying to be the last guy who gets eaten by the alligator, large firms, thanks to the special advantages cited above, have sort of figured out how to cope. Small businesses without crony connections in the ruling class aren’t as fortunate. As a result, neither are the rest of us, especially those who don’t already have jobs. This situation doesn’t seem likely to improve significantly until the current atmosphere of regime uncertainty ends. I’m afraid that won’t occur until there is regime change. The Democrats under Pelosi and Reid took over both houses of Congress in the November elections of 2006. Thus the the POR economy began in In January 2007.Okay, I have a better explanation. The first quarter of 2007 was the first quarter of the "P-R" economy. Obama was not yet a big player. But by the early fall of 2008 it was clear that McCain was weakening and that Obama was the likely winner of the November election, and thus the 3rd quarter of 2008 really marked in business and the economy the arrival of the three horsemen of America's Apocalypse: the destructive and calamitous forces of Pelosi and Reid were joined by the lead rider of Doom -- Obama. more

Resolved Question: Why is domestic violence against men ignored?

Don't say it doesn't happen and is only perpetrated by violent, aggressive men because it is not true. Every year, 1,510,455 women and 834,732 men are victims of physical violence by an intimate. This is according to a Nov. 1998 Department of Justice report on the National Violence Against Women Survey. Clearly there is more women being victims of domestic violence and that is a huge issue, but more than half of the above statistics is MEN as victims, this coming from the US department of justice. So don't say 99% of batterers are men or any bullshit without a source. I understand that men can and usually do leave more physical damage and the efforts to help women are great and should be continued and aided even further but why do we have to do so at the expense of men? Why can't we acknowledge both and educate the public on both so we have EQUALITY. To many victims go unnoticed because of your lack of compassion to the other sex or even your sex because your head is so far up your feminist ***. Resolved Question: Has Fox news' plummeting ratings caused them to try reporting the truth about illegal immigrants?

Crime statistics gathered by the FBI show a steady decrease in violent crime over the last three years – in all major metro areas in Arizona. In Phoenix, for example, violent crime went down over 16 percent in the last year. Validating Phoenix as the kidnapping capital of the country is virtually impossible. Many cities across the country do not gather the number of kidnappings that occur within their jurisdiction at all. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/08/07/threat-border-violence-arizona-appears-overstated-analysts-say/?test=latestnews more

Resolved Question: Why is CNN trying to misrepresent the # of people who lost their job last month by 71,000 instead of 131,000?

Do they think by doing that it will actually help minimize the damage to Obama as exposing his failed economic policies? CNN "Newsroom" anchor Kyra Phillips reported the "breaking news" about July's unemployment data just after 9 a.m. Aug. 6. Misreported would be more accurate. "We begin with the breaking news this morning on a broken economy. We have new evidence of just how feeble the recovery is and how many Americans have nothing to show for it," Phillips said. "The nation's unemployment rate has remained flat at a disheartening 9.5 percent. Just last month 60,000 jobs vanished, the news is bad, but not quite as bad as we expected." Actually, the news was worse than Phillips reported. The U.S. lost more than twice that many jobs in July: 131,000 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The BLS also revised June data after finding an additional 96,000 lost jobs (June's total losses 221,000). http://www.businessandmedia.org/articles/2010/20100806102029.aspx more
