Resolved Question: help writting a essay on teen suicide...?
i have all this so far, and it need to be presented as a speech. it has to go for 3-5 mins. The topic I am speaking about is Teen Suicide. A lot of the time people who plan suicide don’t actually follow through with it, although when teens suddenly decide to they usually do die from it. Statistics show that the most common cause of death of Australian teenagers between the age of 15 and 24 is Car Accidents, then it is Homicide but Teen Suicide closely follows after them. Suicide is the 4th leading cause of death between children in the ages 10 and 14. Every hour and forty-five minutes a teenager that commits suicide. Suicide rates differ between males and females. Females think and attempt suicide twice as much as males, but males die from suicide 4 times as often as females do. Most Teenagers that commit or attempt suicide do it because they feel that nothing ever goes right in their lives. And they might be trying to escape feelings of rejection, hurt, or loss. Or having an extremely hard time coping with parents divorcing. 5,000 American teenagers commit suicide every year but three times as many attempt it. Suicide in total is the 8th leading cause of death. The amount of people committing suicide has tripled since 1970. For every person that commits suicide there have been between 50 to 100 attempts. 64% of all committed suicides used a gun to do it. does anyone have anything i can add to make it longer? moreResolved Question: Someone enlighten me as to why parents are retarded.?
I get into arguments with my mom a lot. But the thing is, I'm not just a teenager saying a bunch of crap to prove he's right. When I argue, I have sources, websites, certified statistics. My mom just says, "Arguing with a high schooler is pointless, they think they know everything." Blah blah. My mom has never listed any sort of facts, or a decent argument. Most argument end because she threatens me saying I need shut my mouth or else I'm grounded etc. Why do parents insist on acting like their right when they have no intellectual points, or facts to an argument? Then when they're wrong, they act completely irrationally and threaten their sons or daughters?Note - We were arguing on something that had to do with car insurance. moreVoting Question: Desperately require your help in my project research!?
Okay, so i'm currently on a project with the theme movie addiction. I am required to provide secondary data (e.g. from internet, books, magazines) of the statistics on how many teenagers are actually addicted to movies. Sorry, i know it's kinda hard because it's hard to measure the number of cases of movie addiction. Could you tell me the websites if you have ever come across them. Thanks a lot! :D moreResolved Question: Teenagers are living in a 'Virtual World'?

A 22-year-old man from Houston and his 16-year-old friend are hauled out of a minivan in Mexico, shot execution style by thugs in a black Lincoln Continental, and left dead in the dirt. The body of a 65-year-old nurse from Brownsville is found floating in the Rio Grande after a visit to a Mexican beauty salon. An American retiree, an ex-Marine, is stabbed to death as he camps on a Baja beach with his dog. More than 200 U.S. citizens have been slain in Mexico’s escalating wave of violence since 2004 — an average of nearly one killing a week, according to a Houston Chronicle investigation into the deaths. Rarely are the killers captured. The U.S. State Department tracks most American homicides abroad, but the department releases minimal statistics and doesn’t include victims’ names or details about the deaths. The Chronicle examined hundreds of records to document the personal tragedies behind them. “I’m no longer the same person,” said Paula Valdez, a Houston mother whose son was slain near her childhood home in Mexico’s Guerrero state in 2004. More U.S. citizens suffered unnatural deaths in Mexico than in any other foreign country — excluding military killed in combat zones — from 2004 to 2007, State Department statistics show. Most died in the recent outbreaks of violence in border cities — Tijuana, Ciudad Juarez and Nuevo Laredo. Although, historically, even Mexico’s most violent urban centers had homicide rates below those of major U.S. cities, recent attacks and border violence driven by drug demand have escalated well beyond limited narco-executions. Juarez last year ranked among the world’s most murderous cities. The Chronicle analysis showed some American homicide victims were involved in organized crime. The dead include at least two dozen victims labeled hitmen, drug dealers, human smugglers or gang members, based on published investigators’ accusations. Others were drug users or wanted for crimes in the United States. But in at least 70 other cases, U.S. citizens appear to have been killed while in Mexico for innocent reasons: visiting family, taking a vacation, or simply living or working there. Locations and intentions In an interview with the Chronicle, Mexican Congressman Juan Francisco Rivera Bedoya of Nuevo Leon, a former prosecutor who heads the national Public Safety Commission, said he believes most American victims get killed after crossing the border to participate in illegal activities or venturing into unsafe areas. “Tourists visiting cathedrals, museums and other cultural centers are not at risk,” he said. Across Mexico, more than 5,000 lives were taken last year, including police, public officials, journalists and bystanders, with seemingly little regard for age, social status or nationality, Mexican authorities report. Mutilated bodies have been draped on highway overpasses or posed in schoolyards and public squares. Authorities have uncovered mass graves known as narcofosas and body disposal sites, where killers dissolved corpses in barrels of chemicals. At least 40 Americans were among those killed and dumped in gruesome methods favored by cartel killers, the Chronicle found. Two Texan teens were victims of an American serial killer in Nuevo Laredo, who bragged to a friend in a recorded cell phone call that he stewed their remains in vats. Recent border victims include at least 15 U.S.-born children and teenagers. In 2008, Austin Kane Danielsen, an 18-year-old Kansan visiting Mexico for the first time, was attacked, beaten and kicked after leaving a disco in Matamoros. His attackers used a pickup to drag his brutalized body 30 yards and dumped it next to a railroad track. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/side2/6252174.html moreResolved Question: Can someone please check my essay?
I has to be handed in this afternoon, can someone please check it and tell me if it makes any sense? I'm not very good at writting and my grammer isn't very good :/ BULLYING IN HIGH SCHOOLS. (In my perspective) What is bullying? Bullying is a form of abuse. It’s when an individual is being tormented either psychologically or physically by a group of people or a person. The bully gets satisfaction to the reaction of the person they are bullying. Statistics show bullying is the main cause of teenage suicide, which is why bullying in high schools is such a controversial issue. How does bullying affect others? / Why do people bully? Bullying can have serious effects on the victim’s health, well-being, happiness, education etc. Long-term bullying contributes to anxiety, depression, self-harm and if things persist it could even result in suicide. It also affects the victim’s friends and family as they (the victim) may isolate themselves from them and the activities they love for the time being. Students tend to keep quiet about being bullied because they are afraid of the repercussions (i.e. the bullying escalating) if the school was to reprimand the bullies. The main reason (in my own opinion based on my previous experiences) I think people bully is because they have their own insecurities and by emphasizing other peoples insecurities it makes them feel better about themselves. On the year of 2006 12 year old Alex Teka, a conscientious, hard-working student from Putaruru High School was being bullied by her former classmates via the internet (cyber-bullying) and decided to take the most drastic way out, by ending her life. She was found dead in the back garden of her home. She could not handle the psychological damage the girls were causing. Most teenagers these days are to naïve to see how much bullying can effect people especially if they already have their own insecurities. My prospective I myself have been victimized by a group of older students before so I know what it feels like to be tormented both psychologically and physically. I have learnt to overcome and face up to my bullies by either confronting them or using reverse-psychology. Ignoring and walking away is always the best thing to do in my opinion. Try to make yourself as busy as possible and don’t let them know their bullying is affecting you. As time goes on they will eventually get bored and leave you alone. You shouldn’t let peoples words/opinions get you down because you need to think, are they really worth it? Just because they say something hurtful are you seriously going to let them get to you? Psychological bullies plant the seed in your head (i.e. - you’re ugly) and you start to believe it and live your life doubting yourself. However if the bullying is physical you need to speak to an adult about the situation to see what they can do about it and you may even want to get the police involved. No one deserves to feel unsafe especially at school. In conclusion you may see how and why bullying in high schools is such a controversial issue. I hope it opens your eyes to what our generation of children is exposed to everyday. No one deserves to be bullied but their will always be teenagers out there who feel the need to victimize the younger, smaller and weaker students. Although there are many victims out there they tend to feel alone and think they are the only one getting bullied. Hopefully one day we can live in a world where everyone gets along and resentment is extinguished from our society. - Latisha Taylor moreResolved Question: your thought on abortion??
so i am not ranting but i was wondering about some stuff? i am 13. (to be honest i am not a fan of it, there is always adoption. my two baby cousins (beau and shyla, age 13 and 10) were adopted and their mother could have aborted them both but she didn't and now i have the rest of my life with a blessing of love... and beside they were the only other kids in my family!) like why would somebody kill a baby for (most of almost all of..) those reasons? i mean only 3.3% are really legitimate? my cousins really could have been killed and i would have never meet them ever? my aunt and uncle never lied to me or my cousins about anything and when my cousins asked the abortion question they told them that there mother was planning on it but looked at her options and loved them enough to let my aunty and uncle adopt them! so why won't others do the same? For married women it is 61 abortions for every 1,000 live births (CDC). # Women between the ages of 20-24 obtained 33% of all abortions (CDC). # 50% of U.S. women obtaining abortions are younger than 25; women aged 20-24 obtain 33% of all U.S. abortions and teenagers obtain 17% (AGI). # Adolescents under 15 years obtained less than 1% of all abortions, but have the highest abortion ratio, 773 abortions for every 1,000 live births (CDC). # 47% of women who have abortions had at least one previous abortion (AGI). # Black women are more than 4.8 times more likely than non-Hispanic white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are 2.7 times as likely (AGI). # 43% of women obtaining abortions identify themselves as Protestant, and 27% identify themselves as Catholic (AGI). # Risk to maternal health: 2.8% # Risk to fetal health: 3.3% # Other: 2.1% moreResolved Question: I need some teenage driving statistics on Non-fatal accidents?
Hi, I'm doing a project in my math class and taking data on how frequently high school teenagers get into NON-FATAL car accidents. I'll be surveying a sample of students at my school and then I'll compare that data to national statistics. However, after searching the web, the majority of the statistics I've found involve fatal car accidents among teens. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me find some data. Here is an example of the data I need: __% of 16-year old female drivers that get into NONFATAL accidents each year __% of 17-year old female drivers that get into NONFATAL accidents each year __% of 18-year old female drivers that get into NONFATAL accidents each year __% of female drivers in the 16-18 age group that get into NONFATAL accidents each year and the same questions involving males. Teens cant get jobs until a certain age. Some jobs you cant get because of your age. For an example, you cant get a job in a kitchen cooking until you're 16. I think that if that boss thinks your capable and responsible enough for the job you should be employed. The graduated licensing program should vanish. The graduated licensing program is costly because you need to pay for three tests. A lot of unhappy teens don't want to wait for the minimum one year and eight months to get their full license. There wont be an increase of accidents because when the teens past the driving test they'll be ready to go. The voting age should be lowered two years from eighteen to sixteen. In Europe the voting age in most places has been lowered from 18 to 16. The voting age was lowered there because statistics suggested that in the next 4o years there will be a 22.3% drop in voter- turnout amongst 18-29 year old voters. Young people should be a engaged in democracy. Lowering the voting age would involve them in it. Some people say that teenagers aren't responsible enough or mature enough to get these rights. But I say that this would work out if the teens were able to get certain jobs at 14 and 15. then they would be responsible enough after working for 1 or 2 years to get a driving license without the graduated licensing program. I had a retail job last summer selling youth clothing as a sales associate. This being my first retail job i worked hard, was never late without a good reason, fulfilled any task that my employer gave me and worked my job to the best of my ability and training. I at the time was unaware of how brutal my fellow employees and employer could be to keep their jobs or make themselves look good and it seems i was fired for the better of my employer. The location i worked at had constant problems with theft in the store and i was told during my interview that loss prevention would be a big part of my training(i received none or hardly any at all) aside from that point my employer was anal about keeping the store profit positive and to do this she would haggle the new employees about our selling statistics per week. i can not remember the exact calculation used but it was something like the total cost of clothing sold by me divided by the number of people that entered the store. the BIG problem that i see with this is that the cashier working could easily give this credit to themselves(making their weekly rating better) or any other employee working the floor at that time. In fact sometimes im sure it was so busy that the cashier could not keep track and therefor was forced to assign the credit to someone else. My employer told me that my statistic(only 1 statistic) was not above the requirement and like that i was gone. Being a teenager i found myself powerless to do anything about it. so i accepted it and moved on. a few weeks after i lost my job i was sitting on the bus explaining to a friend why i dont work at this place anymore when he caught me off guard and said his friend that works there (who i worked with at the time) was told something different and this was that i stole $5000 dollars worth of clothing. This seems ridiculous to me since i only worked there for 3 months maybe even less but what surprised me even more was that he had heard of this before i had and clearly this rumor started in the store(probably my manager blabbing her mouth to a veteran employee). Once again i accepted it and moved on untill my sisters ex boyfriend asked me about it. apparently he had heard through his most recent girlfriend. To this day i am still confronted about it and it infuriates me everytime. The 5000$ would make a good reason for my employer to use to save her ass but isnt there some legal work that has to be done before convicting someone of stealing that much? this is not the only problem i have found with my previous employer but i could safely say she has issues with trust, and i am convinced sexism plays a role in her decision making. To top it off her ring of"trusted employees" are not the new hires and so they have a big say(indirectly) in who stays and who goes.she is not cut out for the manager job and she should be removed i feel that others have gone through the same thing as i have in that store location and i would like to do something about it. thank you for reading my summarized story and please let me know what i can do about it if there is anything at all. oh and we were payed hourly, not commission. moreResolved Question: English argumentative essay on lowing the legal drinking age?
Hey everyone (: for english, we have to write an argumentative essay on pretty much anything. I chose 'The legal drinking age should be lowered to 16' I have to cut out about fifty words of the essay and I'm not quite sure which bits I should cut out. It would be really cool if you could read over the essay and give me advise on it a a whole as well as specifying which parts I should leave out. Thank you so much :) ---- ‘’The legal drinking age of eighteen years is ridiculous. It is unrealistic and old-fashioned and should be lowered to sixteen years.’’ The current, legal drinking age in South Africa, as well as for most of the rest of the world is 18. Many people consider this unrealistic. The question is: would they still consider lowering the legal age to 16 appropriate is they knew that this would put their own children at risk? Alcohol is a drug that works directly on the central nervous system. It affects mood and behaviour and has many side effects, especially on young people. The legal drinking age exists in order to protect under-eighteens from the damages that can be done by this toxin. Under the age of 18, teenagers have not yet developed the cognitive, social or psychological mechanisms that one needs in order to make logical, responsible and thoughtful decisions about matters requiring insight and judgement. They have not yet completed the physical maturing process which is vital to the human development. The intake of alcohol under these conditions can cause lifelong deficits. It has been scientifically proven that alcohol dulls anyone’s ability to make a thoughtful decision. Peer pressure is one of the main problems amongst teenagers. Peer pressure is already linked to under-age alcohol abuse and lowing the legal drinking age would increase this. It would also make alcohol a lot more accessible and available for anyone. Binge Drinking is also a commonly popular amongst teens and extremely dangerous. Lowing the legal drinking age and making alcohol more accessible would increase the number of this type of events. Alcohol has many side-effects which can be influential for the rest of our lives. It has physical as well as psychological effects. The physical effects include immature organs being poisoned by alcohol or the heart to stop beating, as well as hypothermia, coma from too little sugar, injuries, or even fatal accidents. Alcohol abuse amongst teens is responsible for at least five thousand deaths yearly. The use of alcohol amongst teenagers also has psychological effects such as an increase of aggression, decreased interest in academic success and a high risk in sexual behaviour which could possibly lead to AIDS or other STI’s. It can also cause the distancing of teens from their parents. Alcohol is often considered a ‘gateway’ drug to other, even more damaging drugs. In South Africa, poverty, amongst many other things, can cause people to fall into the habit of wanting to escaping reality for a few hours, under the influence of alcohol. Lowering the legal drinking age would cause teens to do the same. This would only add to the poverty and to the many other social problems in our country. The abuse of alcohol amongst teens can also cause in increase in crime and anti-social behaviour. In many European countries, the use of certain low-percentage alcohols such as beer, wine or champagne for teenagers from the age of 16 is allowed. Some may argue that this is a good solution as to having a gradual approach to the use of alcohol which nowadays, is socially accepted. However, statistics prove that this does not solve the problem. The number of accidents of teens under the influence of alcohol has stayed the same, which proves that this does not make you more responsible. The legal drinking age of 18 years is appropriate and should not be lowered to 16. It protects teenagers from the effects that the abuse of alcohol can have, which they are not yet capable of understanding. They are not capable of thinking ahead in this aspect, based on all the information contained in this text. In addition to maintaining the current legal drinking age, teenagers must be educated about the physical and psychological effects that alcohol can have on them, by their parents, as well as their teachers. My mom won't let me get in a car with teenage driver, because she worries about me a lot. I know it's got nothing to do with stuff about car crashes in the news or statistics. She won't discuss this issue with me. I decided to write her a letter. I'm worried she might find it rude. Do you? Dear Mom and Dad, This letter is kind of long, but it's very important to me that you read all of it. At first, when you told me I couldn't ride with my friends, I thought it was because of all the stories in the news about teenagers getting into car accidents. I went online and searched for some statistics on teenage driving. I was going to show you the information that I'd found, but then, I realized that it wasn't about statistics, and it wasn't about me, either. It's about you. You worry a lot, more than most people do. I know that whenever I leave the house, you panic a little bit. And because of your anxieties, I'm forced to suffer. I can never be with my friends. I do not get to enjoy the conviencies they enjoy, like being able to sleep later because they don't have to wake up to catch the bus. If I have a date, it has to be local, such as the mall or uptown, and it's annoying and boring having to go to the same places all the time. You're putting a strain on my friendships, and on me. I cry all the time, because of the hurt and anger and stress that you cause me. I am sick of being a burden on my friends, and I'm sick of the burden you are constantly putting onto me. It's not my fault that you worry so much, so why am I the one being punished? Your "peace of mind" is causing me so much unhappiness. I can't deal with it any more, and I shouldn't have to. I am willing to compromise and make some sort of deal with you. But I'm not willing to put up with your "rules" any more. They're not helping or protecting me in any way, they are helping and protecting YOU. I'm sorry if this letter sounded rude. I didn't want it to, but I don't know how to say my feelings otherwise. Please listen to my plea, please at least consider a compromise. I can't deal with this anymore. I love you very much and I want you to be happy, but I want to be happy, too. Thank you for reading this letter. It means a lot to me :) Love, Mel moreResolved Question: HELP!! what do you think of my oral. Generations ARE becoming dumber?? (read and suggest)?
*starting off with homer video- homer simpson reads the word gym and “guy-mmm”* funny huh? funny that homer cant read a simple 3 letter word? what’s this message telling our kids? that it is ok to be a little bit stupid? Homer Simpson is easily the worst role model for all children and even teenagers! if your idea of role modelling is pigging out on doughnuts, being overweight , drinking and strangling your son, then YOU ARE FOOLISH! This sort of behaviour should not be encouraged but instead stopped! Homer simpson represents a failure, a slob... instead of looking for examples in people that are successful, REAL PEOPLE.... what the hell is Australia turning into? Sometimes I wonder, I wonder where the human race is going. Is it really evolving? Or is it actually devolving? It makes sense to me that people are getting more stupid, society seems to embrace it even promote it through movies such as “Dumb and Dumber”. Dumbing down is becoming the norm, reading as a past-time is becoming old-fashioned. You hear phrases like “ey ey you know what I done?” instead of the correct term “you know what I did” and “I didn’t do nothing” rather than “I didn’t do anything”. They’ve become a normal part of our everyday so called “English” language. Movies like Bruno and ali g “in da” house deterioate the mind and are just complete wastes of time. Former president, George bush leader of the US nation is no exception. When he publicly said during a speech "Rarely Is The Question Asked: Is Our Children Learning?" , alright so george bush is tryna GET his point across, we need to educate our children? well maybe we would of considered it, if he gave us a reason too?? And also , we have the head of powerful nation, who say such things as “I know how hard it is for you to put food ON your family." We’ve had leaders such as this one, determining the direction our generation is heading. But, just HOW dumb are Australians? According to a recent survey, carried out in 2009, nearly half the adult population in Australia does not have the literacy skills to meet the "complex demands of everyday life and work", according to new figures. Only 53 per cent of Australians aged 15-74 could find and use complex information on job applications, payroll forms and bus schedules, the figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed. Back in the late 1800's and early 1900's, scientists were discovering electricity, radio waves, evolution, medicine, automobiles, planes, and nuclear weapons. Then we went to space and to the moon. However, in the past 40 years, we discovered nothing significant. Are internet, cell phones, and video games the only things that have progressed all these years? Are humans able to discover something more important like energy conservation? An English professor at Emory University in Atlanta contends that technology is making the next generation dumber rather than smarter according to USA Today. Mark Bauerlein contends that Generation Y is more likely to use their free time to check Facebook or a blog rather than read a book. And because of the generation’s exposure to computer technology since elementary school and communicating on-line in text-messages and Internet slang, Baurlein says people ages 16-29 are losing “narrative skill needed as adults.” “Those forms groove bad habits, so when it comes time to produce an academic paper … or when they enter the workplace, their capacity breaks down,” he said. Instead of using the Web to learn about history and politics, young people indulge in gossip, social networking and pop culture. Cut off from the 'adult' world of tradition, culture, history and context, the digital generation is quickly losing the ability to focus on a book or anything else for more than 5 minutes. Another problem is the nature of the Internet itself, which allows people to "seek out what they already hope to find (...) fast and free, with a minimum of effort." Not having to deal with anything that bores or challenges them. Hey, and lets not forget Britney spears, once an inspiration…now a distaster. So once upton a time all the ladies wanted to BE HER, and the men wanted to be WITH HER!....the next day….ahh not soo much……she BECOME the most negative influence on young women, she goes insane..shaves her hair off…it scares me what the world is becoming, take her sister for example…jamie lyn spears…pregnant at the age of 16? And proud? What is she telling teenagers…that its okay to sleep with men at such an age? She is a terrible role model, and showing her ignorance to such a sensitive matter! A bad environment, and lack of education and understanding is what makes you fail in life. What does all this say about our generation? Are we really...dumb? To be able to extract embryos you have extract them soon after an embryo has been fertilized meaning a few days after like 72 hours. the plan b pill is only effective if it is taken within 72 hours of the so called mis happened intercourse. The plan b pill is being sold to over the counter to men and women over the age of 17. I think this is a problem that teenagers can destroy their babies but scientist cant use that information to save other peoples lives. Anyways I was trying to find some statistics on how many plan b pills were sold in the US. Any help is greatly appreciated. moreResolved Question: How many Teenagers Date? 10 Points!?
I have an English essay (for tomorrow!) based on the argument, "Why should we keep Single-Sex schools?" One of my points is the distractions of dating, but I don't have any statistics to back up my argument. I don't mind if it's based on a certain County, or throughout the world, I just need some form of an answer. 10 Points for the Best one btw =] Thanks! xxx moreResolved Question: Help, parents are LITERALLY ruining my life?
I know this sounds like I'm just some stupid teenager being completely dramatic, but my parents have ruined my life. If you disagree, please mention so. If its my fault, I want to take responsibility. I understand that sometimes people do wrong things without realizing it. I want to present the FACTS as accurately as possible. 1: Whenever my parents have an idea that they support, and I disagree, regardless of who knows more about the issue, they call me moronic and stupid for not thinking they are right. Today for example, my parents wanted me to take a practice AP exam for a class. This only encompasses the multiple section, a section in which about 95% of people pass, and I practice it daily. Essentially, to me its like taking a multiple choice test that asks questions like (2 x 2 = ?). I told them that I asked around and everyone who ACTUALLY TOOK THE TEST says that these practice tests are a waste of time and money (scams). My parents made a total list of reasons why I'm stupid, insulted me, and then told me that the test would do _____, in a way that shows they feel they know everything about the test, when one of them didn't even know there were AP exams, and the other came from a foreign country and has never even seen an exam. In school I've been instructed on every detail and format of the test, and have already taken practice exams. At the end, they just told me to say yes or no and then "shut the hell up" without offering a voice of my perspective. 2: Arrogance is part of my family. I even admit I can be arrogant very frequently, but my parents' arrogance is ruining my opportunities and education. My mother acts like she knows everything about school and makes up random statistics to make herself look right. When I give real facts, the only thing she ever says is, "bullshit". I am always wrong if what I say contradicts them. This is not some of the times, this is ALL the time. So much so that its ridiculous for me and others to hear. Can you imagine someone assuming they are right ALL the time? I can't believe they haven't noticed how ridiculous it is. My dad just said that UCSD is significantly superior to UCLA, though technically UCLA has more competition and a higher GPA expectation/SAT score average. He just said I was full of shit and that I didn't know what I was talking about. He said he did extensive research and I'm here ready to bet anyone $10,000 he has never been to the UCSD or UCLA websites. 3: Dominance is too much with my parents. If I play an instrument and my dad is watching his favorite show, I have to stop right there. If my parents are ever sleeping, instrument off. I was practicing scales on the saxophone (something you need to frequently practice from beginner to pro) and they were mad because I was being "repetitive", when scales are supposed to be practiced daily. Also, if I ever voice my opinion, its wrong if its not theirs, as mentioned before. I then support it with evidence and strong proof, and before 2 words come out of my mouth, I get a "shut the hell up, not one more word". If I defy this and actually prove them wrong I get a punch/slap in the face and my dad says "your mouth is writing checks your ass can't cash" 4. Simple enough, is it legal to hit your children in the head at all? What are the physical "discipline" laws in California? 5. At math SAT class we played a game of competition in math so that we would be motivated to work harder. I beat everyone by a significant amount of points and was so motivated to become a better student. Normally I don't do so well, but I was so happy that I was getting better. My mother asks me what we did that day and I simply tell her we were playing a competitive game. Her response: "You probably got last place cause you suck at math, huh? Rachel (her best friend's daughter) probably did way better because she's actually smart". I know, this has to be unreal. Seriously, what mother says that to her kid? I think this is the worst of all. I was just planning on doing well in school, going to a good college, and just never associating with my parents again, but with my mother/father continuously calling me stupid and worthless, I feel no motivation to work harder. I know its all up to me, but to have the people who raised you and gave birth to you tell you that you won't amount to anything really hurts. The only way my parents will be kind and loving to me is if I shutup, listen always, never give opinions, pretend like I agree and enjoy everything they say, and get the top of my classes for every subject. I've been struggling greatly in Calculus, and for the first time I got a 98% on a test (very hard to do because its a highly advanced class with a tough teacher). My mother's response when I come up to her excited about my score: "Why didn't you get 100%?" I'm not saying my parents are twin-Satans,but they are conceited, stubborn, and arrogant. Because I'm under 18, they feel that they can make their word la moreResolved Question: What Is The Mortality For Young People??? PLEASE ANSWER THIS IF U KNOW!!!?

I have to write a paper and i would like your feed back i need this paper to be perfect because its the only thing passing me! The representation of only one model of beauty on television has attributed to women forming unrealistic body image expectations and lead to an increase in anorexia among young girls. Anorexia Nervosa is a mental condition which affects one’s both physical and mental health. It is a condition that causes one to have a distorted self-image and forces themselves to starve even if their body weight is already dangerously low. They often restrict their food intake to the point where they are extremely thin. It seems today that eating disorders are on the rise. While this may be true, the numbers may appear to grow only because more cases are being brought out into the open. The purpose of this paper is to discuss eating disorders and prove that these diseases, specifically Anorexia Nervosa, continue to plague of women due to psychological and environmental factors along with pressure from the media. The term “Anorexia Nervosa” is misleading. It means “loss of appetite due to nerves.” But people with anorexia don’t actually lose their appetite until the late stages of their starvation. Until, they do feel hungry, but they just won’t eat. People affected by anorexia have an extreme fear of gaining weight. In addition to drastic dieting, they may resort to vomiting and the use of laxatives and diuretics to lose weight. Statistics show that many teens and young adults suffer from anorexia nervosa. Without treatment, anorexia nervosa can cause serious health problems--even death! The sooner treatment begins the better the chances for a full recovery. The person with anorexia is a model child. He/She is well behaved, eager to please, and a good student who gets along well with her peers. She rarely admits that anything is wrong or that anything is wrong or that she/he extra helps. Behind the mask is an insecure, self-critical perfectionist who feels unworthy of any praises she receives. A person who has anorexia is also very concerned about whether other people like her. And she is constantly feeling self cautious about herself which makes it even worse about who she is as a person. Anorexia nervosa is a life-threaten eating disorder defined by refusal to maintain body weight. Other essential features of this disorder include an intense fear of gaining weight, a distorted body image, and an absence of at least three consecutive menstrual cycles (amenorrhea) when otherwise expected to occur in women. Sometimes people starve and binge, depending on the extent of weight loss. This can be physically very dangerous. On TV we see people who are rich, beautiful, and above all are thin They see these people and think if they were thin they too would be rich, and beautiful, people would like them. Eating disorders are seen primarily in western and industrialized countries, where slimness is a model of attractiveness some experts feel that the causes of anorexia are relative to demands from society and family. For many anorexics, the destructive cycle begins with the pressure to be thin and attractive. A poor self-image compounds the problem. Often anorexia starts when a teenager or young woman goes on a diet to loose a little weight. Spurred on by the compliments they get, they may become obsessed with dieting. They may think to themselves. "If losing a little weight’s well, loosing a lot must be great." People with anorexia typically have low-self esteem and are easily that being thin would give them all the confidence in the world. Many anorexics accept anorexia as a way of life and this is how you become popular and loved. Many fashion models are anorexic due to pressure put on them to look thin. Then young teenagers see these stylish skinny models and fell this is acceptable to do what ever is necessary to look like these models on covers of magazines and on the cat walks. On the Internet, website are widely available which encourage anorexia. They show pictures of models, which have been altered. Their limbs have been made longer and shadows created underneath their ribs to make them look even thinner. Some people who have anorexia become obsessed with getting fit and continuously exercise but don't replace energy lost in the body, therefore the body uses the muscle and soon it deteriorates and the person becomes weak, just so they can be thin. Many famous people have been affected by anorexia. One in particular was Karen Carpenter who was one of the first public cases know. She felt pressured by her job as a singer to look thin and beautiful so she starved herself. Karen Carpenter died February 4, 1983 of heart failure caused by chronic anorexia nervosa. She was thirty-two years old. She battled with it from 1975-1983 (when she died). She went to New York at the end of 1981 for a year of treatment by a psychiatrist but the damage had apparently been done. According to a website I was told to take a pregnancy test today even though my period isn't supposed to start until March 4, 2010. I thought I did everything right. My last period was Feb 4, 2010 and my husband and I had sex on Feb 12, 14, 15, 17, and 2 times on the 18th. I laid with my hips elevated on a pillow for 30 minutes after each sexual encounter. On 6 and 7 dpo I had cramping in my abdomen. On 6 dpo I had 2 drops of blood after using the restroom. On 8 dpo I had a pulling feeling in the front of my abdomen. I have had several head aches which are uncommon for me. I have also felt sick without vomiting. There has also been a clear discharge since my ovulation date on Feb 18. My husband and I are very healthy and I have been taking pre-natal vitamins for over a month now. I know that the statistics say I have in between a 20-25% chance of becoming pregnant and that 85% of healthy couples don't get pregnant within the first year.I also know that implantation bleeding only occurs in 30% of women so I am not sure what the blood was from but I don't think it was implantation bleeding. I have had cramping on and off since 6 dpo. I took a test this morning like the website told me to but I got a BFN!!! I am a little upset and I have been very irritable lately. I don't get cramping or nausea before I start my period and I don't think it has anything to do with my period. Do you think I tested way too soon? Should I test again? I feel like this is never going to happen which I do realize is a selfish thing to say especially when other women have been trying for a lot longer. I could use some encouragement so I don't give up completely. My husband said," Maybe I should dig out my old varsity jacket and you could wear a cheer leading skirt and then we will get pregnant faster like the teenagers do" I thought this joke was insensitive considering that we are TTC. I also know that stressing out can be a major factor in not getting pregnant. Sorry this is so long but I needed to get it off of my chest. Encouraging words anyone? moreResolved Question: Can someone help me with this thesis statement?
I'm writing a research paper on Teenage Suicide & I started my thesis... Can someone tell me if it's good SO FAR? &I need help wording a sentence or 2 for it Teenage suicide is a growing issue in today's society. Teenagers take their own life because of emotional illness, physical issues, and problems caused by the others that surround them... { need sentences for the statistics, but don't know how to word it correctly. } ... Even though so many teenagers are committing suicide, not many people know how to stop the growing number of deaths. There are, however, many ways to prevent these incidents from happening before they even occur. HELP!... PLEASE? moreResolved Question: Having SAFE SEX young is NOT always a bad thing?
I am absolutely sick of seeing the same answer to young girls curious about having sex with their boyfriends; "DON'T DO IT. YOU'LL REGRET IT, IT'LL BE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF YOUR LIFE, YOU'RE TOO YOUNG, EMOTIONALLY, PHYSICALLY, IT'LL DAMAGE YOU" This sort of reply puts more of an unnessicary taboo on sex than there already is! All this irrational bullcrap that is totally untrue. Society underestimates the maturity of teenage girls, and of course there are some total dummies, but those that are bright enough to question sex and the impact of it should not be replied to in a way that implies they are children. It's frustrating to be treated like a child when you're having adult thoughts, adult impulses, and the adult maturity to speak up and ask questions. Here's my view. I'm nearly seventeen, I had sex at fourteen, with a wonderful guy that i trusted and still trust now. We aren't together anymore, but we're best friends, and i don't regret it at all, in fact i barely even think about it. Losing your virginity, is NOT a wonderful experience, it's a slightly painful, fumbly, event that almost inevitably includes somebody banging their head or falling off the bed. Get rid of the pre-misconceptions you have of this spectacular romantic event that media creates. Sex is sex, nothing more, nothing less, and it doesn't have to be this hyped up ridiculous issue that people make it out to be. Here's the deal, if you want to have sex, have sex, but make sure you're COMFORTABLE with the person, and you do it safely. Don't get pregnant. The facts are, britain and america have massively high teen sex and teen pregnancy statistics, and do you know why that is? It's because society as a whole put a tabboo on it, and by making it out to be a dangerous, damaging thing, it becomes appealing and rebellious to angst ridden teenagers wanting to do something out of the ordinary, people need to relax, answer questions, and stop trying to convince teenagers to not have sex. Just help them to do it safely. And there it is again, as long as people have the first two answers do, pregnancy statistics will continue to go up. Maybe you should be more intent on talking contraceptives and safe sex, instead of abstinence. The first person, i'm not a know it all, but i know all there is to know about safe sex, and there's 30 plus year old women out there that have sex more recklessly than i do, and more so than many other teenagers do. moreResolved Question: does not fitting shocking statistics about teenagers make me a loser?
i know this is a wierd question... but hear me out! i am an 18 year old high schools senior. i have gone on dates and kissed girls and stuff... but never really had a steady girlfriend. i spend my time after school relaxing and studying and talking to friends on the internet. sometimes i might go to a friend's house. im outgoing... not really socially awkward. so when i read some statistics about teenagers, im shocked! -68% of 18 year olds have had sex -31% drink regularly -other predictable increases in drug use, drunk driving, and other risque behavior so i have to wonder... does not participating in this stuff make me some kind of a loser? i mean..... if 68% of my classmates are out getting laid and i have trouble getting a girlfriend, what does that mean? damn... this is kind joking and kinda serious. im going off to college soon anyway so being cool in high school doesnt really matter but damn.... >< moreVoting Question: What are the best programs for teenage drinking and abuse?

Congratulations it's your 18'Th birthday you are a legal adult! Look at all of the things you can do; vote, get married, join the army, buy property, get a tattoo, adopt a child, make your own medical decision, and legally own a gun. Go out and have a drink with your best friends and celebrate! Wait... You can't legally drink alcohol, but you are mature enough to choose the government, decide who you want to spend the rest of your life with, defend your country by putting your life on the line, permanently alter the state of your body, take on the responsibility of another human life, decide what medications you do and don’t want to take, and legally own a weapon that can kill people. Wow that seems like you would need to be really mature, but you can’t go out and have a beer with your friends on a Saturday night, ridiculous… right? The United States is only one of four countries with the minimum drinking age of 21; there are approximately 20 states that have no drinking age at all. That’s 5 times the amount of states that have a legal drinking age of at least 21! One theory is that an 18 year olds body is not developed enough to handle alcohol. Yes, it is true that your body does change as it ages. When you are 18 it is different from when you are 21 but it is also different and more "developed" when you are 56, so since we are more mature at 56 than 21 should that be the legal drinking age? So it's your 21'st birthday and you can now legally drink, there is no magical change that happens in your body that makes it ready for alcohol. Let's face it most people have taken a drink before the age of 21; I know I have and I bet you had a drink before your 21'st birthday too. In fact, in 2005, about 10.8 million people in the United States ages 12-20 (28.2% of this age group) reported drinking alcohol in the past month. Nearly 7.2 million (18.8%) were binge drinkers, and 2.3 million (6.0%) were heavy drinkers. These numbers are probably shocking to adults, but to teenagers they are probably a little lower than what you expected right? I believe that the reason that alcohol is so tempting to teens is because it's forbidden. It's human nature to want what we can't have, just think back to the story of Adam and Eve from the bible, they weren't supposed to eat the fruit, it was forbidden, but that probably made that apple 10 times better to Adam when he ate it. If the drinking age was lowered to 18 by the time a teen would want to drink, let's say 15, they would most likely think; "Well, it's only 3 more years, I'd rather not be a criminal and just wait 3 years". But know a 15 year old thinks "Well, jeez 6 years, I need to at least try it; I can't possibly wait 6 years to drink, seriously". Okay so for arguments sake let’s just say that they think we are mature enough and that they just want to lower drunk driving deaths. There have been statistics thrown out there saying how the lower drinking age has saved “countless lives”, these numbers are not scientific and are just estimated. The truth is since the 80’s education has increased and people are more informed than ever. So there has been talk about a “drinking license” where if you were below 21 and wanted to drink you would have to take a class on responsible alcohol consumption, which sounds cool to me. Why not be informed on what you are putting in your body and be aware of how to do it responsibly. The reality of it is even though the legal drinking age is 21, that is not the average age that people take there first sip of alcohol. Three out of every four students (75%) have consumed alcohol (more than just a few sips) by the end of high school, about two fifths of students (41%) have consumed alcohol (more than just a few sips) by 8th grade, and More than half (58%) of 12th graders report having been drunk at least once in their life. One fifth (20%) of 8th graders report having been drunk at least once in their life. These numbers are not going to decrease; they’re just going to keep growing. The media glorifies alcohol and its effects. I my self was even told by a teacher that it was normal to drink in high school, that’s what the reality of our country is I truly believe that if at 18 you are responsible enough to go to war and risk your life you are more the mature enough to drink alcohol. So kids are not changing for the laws, so maybe we should change the laws for the kids. Judge it on the wrting. Do you think that I have any potential to be a writer? I get tired of these senators, both state and federal, creating regulation after regulation when it's not needed. Some democrat in the Iowa Senate has decided that teenagers should be required to wear seatbelts in the back seat. The statistics are vague and unsubstantiated. Just another law on the books so some senator can place it on his resume for the next election. How long are we citizens going to allow the creation of these regulations that are not needed. I'm going to contact this legislator and let him know that our state has more pressing problems to deal with right now in the short time the legislature is in session. I think voters should watch what these people are doing at the state and federal level and drop all the legislators that cannot keep on task. http://www.radioiowa.com/2010/02/02/buckle-up-requirement-for-teens-in-backseat/I agree that it's smart to wear your seat belt even in the back seat, however, do we need the government to mandate this to us? My point is simple, tell those elected to quit creating government intrusion on our everyday, common-sense decisions.Deb M - as a matter of fact, Iowa DOES NOT have a helmet law....is that just the biggest bunch of junk or what? Here sits a teen, all safe and sound buckled up in the back seat as a motorcycle flies by at 65 mph driven by a rider with no helmet. Are we showing our kids our stupidity or what?! I'm glad for your children that they are taught to wear their seat belts...my point is that you, as a parent, have taught your children that. GOOD! Leave big government out of it. We don't need more laws from the government made "for our own good." moreResolved Question: Can you help me get a later bedtime?
Next year I will be taking Honors Physical Science, Honors Trig, AP Statistics, AP US History, Gym/Health, and Honors English 10. However my parents still insist on making me go to bed at 9:30 every night, even on weekends. Many nights on schooldays, I don't even get my homework done because they're so insistent on my bedtime, yet when I get a bad grade, they say that its because of my time management, however all of my teachers tell me that I am great at time management. They also insist on staying up until I go to bed and checking on me until I'm asleep. My parents say that even next year with my difficult classes, the bedtime rule will remain the same. The kids that I know in those classes are generally up until about midnight every night doing homework for their classes, and I explained that to my parents but they gave me the "My house, my rules. If you don't like it then wait until you're 18 thing." The problem is, when I graduate from high school, I will be 18 so it will be too late to change the past. Their logic is that if I stay up past 9:30 every night studying, then I will "fail all of my classes" because I will be "too exhausted to even concentrate". The other thing is, I am a teenager and am invited to a lot of parties, and I cannot go to any of them because of the bedtime rule. I need to extend my bedtime to at least 11 o'clock in order to save my academic and social career. I feel as if my parents are holding me back in both areas just because they are being overprotective. Is there any advice that you can offer? I have tried many times to talk politely and nicely to them, saying that if I do bad in my classes its my fault, and explaining that the amount of homework in my classes for next year is necessary to stay up late; however they continue on holding the same rules. Please help me! 3 days ago - 1 day left to answer. Additional Details I have also played piano and cello since I was 5 and my parents expect me to excel in both. Currently, my typical schedule is getting home at 3:30, 3:30-5:30 practicing piano and cello (my parents expect an hour on each daily), 5:30-5:45 eat, either piano lesson, cello lesson, or symphony rehearsal from 6:00-7:00, 6:00-6:45, or 6:00-8:00 respectively. As soon as I get home I get right to work on my schoolwork and studying, This school year I usually have about 1.5 to 2 hours of homework per night, but with the classes I am taking next year, kids in those classes and my school counselor said I should expect between 3 and 4 hours of homework per night. moreResolved Question: I need to get a later bedtime.?

Overall, is multitasking a benefit or a problem for the individual today? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In today’s day and age, both teenagers and adults take advantage of the progress and advancements this world has made. Technology has given us a world that is readily equipped with many different possibilities. This technology we have is controversial in many ways. Sure it provides countless hours of entertainment and convenience, but it also threatens our safety in many different situations. As I drive my car on a daily basis, I see more and more people paying less attention to the road. These interferences include things like changing the radio station, talking on a cell phone, or text messaging on a cell phone. These three things alone have resulted in numerous accidents in the past, yet people seem to ignore the statistics. It’s like today’s society acts bulletproof to the possible consequence they could face in the future. This is a major problem in today’s current population. I am a former victim in this particular multitasking problem that many American’s face today. My careless attitude changed drastically after I was involved in a situation where my multitasking had impacted my life in a big way. I once was driving home one late Saturday night when my multitasking resulted in me swerving off the road to miss a deer. This was caused by the fact that I was being distracted by a cellular telephone call. I then realized that that phone call was definitely not worth risking thousands of dollars in damages to my car, and possible injuries to my body. I am now very cautious on the road, and my phone now lies tucked away deep in my pocket. I understand that people like convenience. It adds pleasure and comfort to someone, which is what it’s meant to do. At the same time, just because something is convenient, doesn’t mean it has to be taken advantage of. These things we have to make our lives easier, should not be the same things that put our lives in danger. There is a time and place for everything, and I’m sorry, but taking your eyes off the road driving at 55-65 mph is pure ignorance. Society needs to be aware the dangers that some multitasking situations put us in. There are ways to multitask safely. I myself believe doing this while driving is not one of them. I also believe that multitasking is not for everyone. If you are even the slightest bit hesitant of your ability to function normally while doing this, then it should not be done at all. The human brain works in amazing ways, and for some people, multitasking can be worked into one’s daily life. For other’s, it may be difficult, and should be avoided if possible. You should know your limits and judge your ability to conquer multiple tasks at the same time before doing it. Multitasking can put pressure on the human brain, so always be sure to put forth limitations. Set boundaries for yourself, and make the right choices. The choices you make in this lifetime count, for you do not get a second chance. If you choose to multitask, be sure that it can be done efficiently and safely, while your kept out of harm‘s way. It only takes one time for you to slip up, and for you to find out, that your not bulletproof after all, and stress can sometimes overwhelm a person to the point of breaking. Be aware, and make smart decisions. moreResolved Question: PLEASE: Which of these should I use as an introduction...?
Adolescent. Lazy. Easily manipulated. Naive. Irresponsible. Those are just a few of the names teenagers are known by. I was just reading a question where an almost-17 year old said she was planning a baby with her fiance and asking for TTC tips. As you'd expect, she was bashed by just about everybody, and the only person who answered her question received something like 6 thumbs downs and no thumbs ups. When I hear of a 16/17 year old trying to get pregnant, even if it's with a fiance/husband, my instant reaction too is to think "They should wait", despite the fact that I know many people who had children (mostly accidental pregnancies) at that sort of age and I had my own son at 19 and we all managed okay. But I know of course having children as a teenager generally presents many hardships that would often not be present some years down the line when in a more financially stable situation. Anyway to get to my question, in the past (at least where I am from) it was very common and completely accepted, often even expected, for a couple to marry at 16 or 17 and have children pretty much right away. This was the case in my grandparents generation, certainly, and further back. So what has changed between then and now, do you think, that makes society so much less accepting of teenage couples who plan babies, even the couples in their early and mid twenties? I often see people being told to wait until their late 20s or early 30s to begin a family, and this couldn't be more different to how it used to be. Reasons I can think of I suppose are that divorce statistics were virtually non-existent in those days whereas they're of course very high now, particularly for couples who marry young. But then I wonder, if it's for that reason, do those people discriminate against single parents? Possibly another reason I can see for it is the culture we have today of 'welfare mums' who stereotypically get pregnant as teens and go on benefits for the rest of their lives, whereas in the past it was usually the case that a family were self sufficient (often with only the father's income) before they had children. But when somebody is personally addressing a young couple they know won't be part of the welfare culture, what is the reason then? Can you think of any other reasons why society has changed so dramatically? I'm not challenging it or saying I agree or disagree with these views, I just happen to find social change interesting, before anybody attacks me for anything.Great points everyone so far, thank you! moreResolved Question: What do you think about juvenile crime in South Korea?
From koreantimes Juvenile Crime Increasing Juvenile crimes have been on the rise over the last few years while the average age of teenage criminals has been decreasing. Crimes committed by minors from 12- to 19-years-old jumped from 25,946 in 2006 to 41,754 last year, according to Rep. Joo Kwang-deok of the governing Grand National Party. According to research, the main reason crimes were committed was to make money to spend on entertainment. Crimes committed by accident and out of curiosity followed. By charges, larceny was the highest with 10,920 cases while violence and committing traffic violations as members of motorcycle gangs followed. The number of juveniles committing felonies, such as robbery and assault, also went up from last year. In 2001, 20 percent of juvenile offenders were 17-year-olds followed by 16- and 18-year-olds. Last year, 23 percent were 16 and 18 percent were 15. Joo said each judge of the Busan Family Court handled 4,913 juvenile cases last year. ``It is impossible for (the judges) to be in charge of every case and we need to establish a court for juvenile offences or assign more judges,'' he said. No more than five years ago, the term ``juvenile delinquent'' mainly referred to badly-behaved male students in secondary schools. But now it is quite difficult to identify the gender of offenders when individuals hear about a crime in which young students are involved. It is because the number of female teenagers causing serious crimes is poised to outnumber that by males. In December last year, a user created content (UCC) in which several female students in school uniform are assaulting another girl student was posted on a local UCC-only Web site. The offenders were punching, slapping and kicking the victim. They even attempted to strip off the victim's uniform. Fortunately, the police, who had tracked them down through a cyber investigation, charged them with mob violence. In May this year, ten female students from a primary school in Daejeon, North Chungcheong Province, were involved a group fight that left several casualties including one student suffering brain-damaged. The reason for the fight was trivial: one group of students provoked another, saying they did not want to see their colleagues studying English in a classroom. While types of female-led misconducts in the past were limited to something unpremeditated and minor, recent crimes break down the time-honored legacy. The following is a case showing how brutal and violent current female student-led crimes are. In November 2005, a 16-year-old girl was seized in Seoul on suspicion of running a buying-and selling-sex business. Reportedly, she conned several runaway girls with a proposition to make money and then forced them into prostitution. She even extorted what they earned. The money she had blackmailed for a month amounted to 1.3 million won ($1,500). Reportedly, she frequently assaulted those who refused to sell their bodies. Crimes by female juvenile on the rise The number of crimes committed by female attackers is increasing. Statistics compiled by the Foundation for Preventing Youth Violence (FPYV) show how steeply the number has grown. In 1999, female students accounted for only 2.2 percent of all offenders causing in-school crimes. But the number soared to 10 percent in 2006. According to a report released by the National Court Administration, a total of 25,946 juveniles were charged in 2006 with committing physical and psychological crimes such as physical violence, verbal abuse, bullying and extortion. The number has declined after hitting its highest of 30,706 in 2001. These figures indicate that the overall number of such crimes reported to local courts has gradually dropped. But the interesting thing is that the percentage of juveniles convicted is increasing. While, around 4,700 or 15 percent of those charged in 2001 were put behind bars, a fourth of those charged last year were imprisoned. Moderate punishment makes it worse As the figures above show, female students are no longer just victims of school violence. Many school authorities and the government are also stepping up their efforts to curb the upward tendency. But many experts say moderate punishment against school attackers is making the situation worse. A 13-year-old girl had her 11th police investigation in 2005. She was charged with breaking into a neighbor's home to steal valuables. What she did was serious enough to be jailed. But she was released following the investigation due to her age. Her first crime was actually not that serious. But her school had no countermeasures against school crimes. Teachers at the school, who had once scolded her for a series of wrongdoings, paid no attention to her as her misdeeds persisted. She became familiar with bad boys around the school and then started getting involved in crimes such as theft, assault and even hou moreResolved Question: Can you find any logical fallacies in this short paper?
I'm writing a paper for my english class. We read a "letter to the editor" from a person in our town dissing teenagers and how they have bad manners and "tart-like clothing". We needed to write a response letter for our essay agreeing or disagreeing with her. And proving our point. We cannot have ANY Logical Fallacies (Begging the question, red herring, faulty cause and effect, etc.) or we fail the paper. Would you please read my paper and see if you can spot any? Any editing that needs to be done as well? Thanks SO much!! I feel the need to point out that the amount of well-behaved young citizens in our community is growing; because there appears to be an awful lot of put downs towards teenagers written as a majority. While it seems to be true that some teenagers nowadays are acting and dressing in a less-than-favorable manner, those who were raised to have manners and respect for all people are not being recognized. Instead, they are being stereotyped as “raised by wolves”. However, statistics show that the national graduation percentage is increasing in high schools. Families have a lot to do with this. For example, kids who enjoy family meals regularly are less likely to do drugs, smoke, or have an eating disorder. They are also more likely to have better grades and to delay sexual activity. TV Land’s “Family Table” commercials have increased the number of families who spend time doing this. “Sharing more than meals” appears to help parents raise well-mannered and healthy children. The teenagers we see running around town with little clothing on and bad table manners usually have little time spent talking with their families. However, thanks to TV Land, a lot more families are spending time together at the dinner table. This has led to an increase in children’s grades and respect for themselves. Respect for themselves leads to better clothing choices, hygiene habits, and attitudes. Spending time at the table with their parents leads to better manners, because their parents are there to reinforce them. If we continue to urge parents to spend time with their children, we should see even more of an increase in the appearance and attitudes of our teenagers. But let’s not forget we cannot possibly know the situation one family may be in, versus another. Maybe the family cannot afford clothes all the time. They could be hand-me-downs that don’t fit properly. A teen may also be having a bad day, and forget to use manners when passing you on a street. I urge you all to take into consideration that not all teenagers are the same, and many are growing into be fine young adults. A group of teenagers being rowdy on a street corner does not represent the entire population. These young adults are our future; let’s guide them into being the respectful adults they will hopefully someday be. moreResolved Question: Could someone please look over my relatively short paper for any logical fallacies and editing?

Are these stats true or false in Canada in the present day?? 1. Non-smokers have reason to complain: a cigarette smoker exhales six times as much smoke as he or she retains in his or her own lungs. 2. If all the cigarettes that Canadians smoked in one year were lined up end to end, they would stretch fourteen times the distance from the Earth to the Moon. 3. Cigarette smoking decreases the life expectancy of smokers; they stand a 2.5% greater risk of dying before age 65 than do non-smokers. 4. Nearly 27 000 Canadians die each year from the effects of smoking. Smoking is 5 times more lethal than traffic accidents. 5. When a pregnant woman smokes a cigarette, the fetal heart rate increases from 5 to 40 beats per minute for the next 20 minutes. 6. Whenever a person smokes a cigarette, his or her heart rate increases from 15 to 20 beats per minute and his or her blood pressure increases from 1.2 to 2.4 kPa. 7. It takes only 7 seconds from the time a smoker takes a puff on a cigarette for the nicotine to reach his or her brain. 8. Most teenagers do not smoke. Only 20% of all young Canadians smoke. 9. Speaking as a teenager, why are we constantly being warned how 'very very easy' it is pregnant? We're told you don't even need to have sex to get pregnant / that there's a very high possibility of it if you do ever have unprotected sex / how contraception nearly always fails sooner or later, etc. One look on this section throws it all out the window. Clearly getting pregnant ISN'T automatically a breeze. I can't understand why teenage girls are given one set of information... "If you have sex, you WILL get pregnant" "You have the same chance of getting pregnant wherever you are in your cycle" While grown women who are TTC are given another.... "It's normal to take a few months to a year to concieve" "You can only get pregnant if you have sex when you're ovulating" It's very confusing. We're all ovulating women aren't we? Since when did teenagers in particular become uber-fertile baby machines? Maybe they think if we're given the actual statistics about conceiving, we'll think it's no big deal and 'won't happen to us', therefore we NEED the scare tactics (for the record this isn't true). Good luck to anyone TTC at the moment.Sorry, first sentence should read "...how 'very very easy' it is to get pregnant". moreResolved Question: Speed (drug) statistics?
