Resolved Question: my doctor drinks heavily when hes 'off duty' lol ?
i know this because I cycle around town and through quiet streets and roads, and sometimes I see him through the front window - opening his showpiece cabnet unit thing, opening a bottle of matured scotch whiskey and pouring it into a glass and knocking it back in no less than 3 gulps ! once the 'kid in me' got the better of me , so i quietly lay my bike to rest against the wall and tip toed into his front garden and rang the doorbell. his net curtains are very opaque therefore I could make out a man sitting on a chair at a table with a bottle of scotch and a glass of whiskey lol he didn't budge. then i lifted that big brass knocking handle and knocked it a couple of times - he shifted the net curtain, with the glass of whiskey in one hand - hes gritting his teeth @ me in sheer aggression, and giving me the 'shu shu go away , get lost you c**t gesture !' hahaha the man has an amazing house, its a big shame hes a loner - divorced and one of those billy-no-mates type. I want to socialise and drink with the man, while hes off duty and check out the basement he has - apparently he has a 'mini-pub' built down there with a pool table and a 60 inch HD flatbed wall mounted TV ! i have a Phd in Business Finance, and an MA in Economics he has a Phd in Applied Pharmaceutical Science as well as an Msc in Biochemical engineering , neurological science and a Bsc in MAths statistics. we're both 'learned men' , whose lives have 'slightly' gone off the rails a bit. I just think he should let me in, and sit me down and pour me a glass of scotch. should I refer my own doctor to AA ? or is that being unfair ? i mean - is it illegal for your GP to enjoy a drink on a 'day off' ? but he knocks em back like no tomorrow ! moreResolved Question: what was your/your friends experience after tubal ligation?
Hi, I would like to hear from women who have had their tubes tied or whose friend had them tied. i have my consultation today to discuss whether tubal ligation would be suitable for me. i already have three kids by c-section and during my last pregnancy i made up my mind that i do not want any more children. my youngest will be two on the 16th of june and i am still 100% sure that i do not want any more children. my question is if you had any side effects like heavier periods etc after the procedure, did you regret your decision years later even though you were sure it's what you wanted at the time. please share your own experience with me to help me make an informed decision as i don't just want to go by the statistics but would also like to hear from real women. ps. i put this into this section because i usually get more and accurate answers here aw there seem to be mostly teenage girls answering on the womens health section. moreVoting Question: what was your/your friends experience after tubal ligation?

Recently ive noticed how many people ended up marrying someone they knew as a kid, went to school or uni with, and i just wondered if there were any official statistics on this. I can name a really large majority of teachers, friends parents, neighbours etc who met at uni or school and ended up marrying and appear pretty happy, even if they didn't stay together as high school sweethearts, meeting up later and falling in love. The idea seems so romantic, if a little unlikely to me right now but i wondered if it was more common that i had first thought. moreResolved Question: Roughly 250,000 known drug addicts in the UK, What should we do with them?
This is a question im surprised hardly any of the political party's want to touch, I had read an article online showing statistics on crime and it showed that roughly 70%of all crime is drug related. So surely a logical conclusion would be that the main source of the drug related crime would be coming from the addict? As the need to commit crime to get money to pay the dealer to feed their habit, So surely if we can sort these addicts out we could in theory cut crime by close to 70% so my question is what would be your solution to sorting addicts out? My view is we cant shoot them to many people would cry about it, If we legalised all drugs it should make it easier to control the drug trade (in theory from what i have read on certain websites) but it would meet alot of resistance from groups in the community, so might aswell leave that one, I have read one theory which says we could open centres where Addicts could stay and get their drugs in return for general labour (eg, cleaning the streets) if they stayed at these centres they could be kept under observation and offered rehab programs to go on should they wish to rehabilitate, At least this way they are not committing crime like mugging old ladies to feed their habit and to pay the dealers (so it should put the dealers out of business too) you could also spend more money on education &guidence to try stop kids going into the world of drugs, soooo, I would say it is the lesser of the 2 evils we have to pay either way so its a case of what would you rather, paying for the cleaning up drug related crime&illneses through the cost of Policing Courts, NHS, etc, Or paying to keep addicts out of the way in centres where they cant & dont need to commit crime and the council gets free labour from it aswell, Im not saying its the perfect solution at all but it could be a better one than the one we have now, Im more concerned about the victims of crime than the people who corse it but that my veiw I just wonder what othere peoples veiws are.Reply to Grandveiw Investigation, Sorry if my bad grammer has ruined your day just so you know i will try to brush up on it, My grammer can inprove over time but unfortunatly (if thats how you spell it ) you will always be a tit, Just to clarify, I know that not all drug users are bad and there should be a decent rehab program to sort people who want to sort their life out, there are loads of other courses of crime out there i was looking at one aspect of it. Not all crime. I did not mean to Genralise all drug users as satan i know what drugs can do to people as i have seen freinds completly change due to drugs oh and as for my own vices i play the lotto once a week so i guess im a gambling nut then moreResolved Question: Why are men thought to be more perverted than women when....?
...at a male strip club/show, even if there's a "no touching rule", the women sexually assault the men? I think if I saw a man and a woman hanging around a kid, I may be suspicious of both (unless it was innocent circumstances), but I may be more suspicious of the woman. Say what you want about statistics - they're based on reports, and male victims of female attackers are less likely to report anything, so statistics are irrelevant here.Enzyte Bob's Impotent Clone, how warped is YOUR thinking? You trust someone just because they’re female, despite the fact that females are much more likely to get away with crimes involving sexual abuse? I wouldn't explicitly trust anyone with my kid or kids, but I would be more suspicious of the type of person who is more likely to be a threat. aj<3, please read the question again, thanks. Touching someone in a sexual way without their consent is sexual assault, regardless of gender, yet women do it at male strip clubs. moreVoting Question: Should I stop playing WoW?
Well, I am a 36 y old male, and I have four kids. Other than my wife hating me at times, I try to play at night from 9-11pm EST. I would really like to get some statistics on how may "oldies" play the game. I always feel that I run the risk of talking to some 13 year old from Indiana. I just purchased a headset and I am anxious to give it a try. I have three level 20's on the Blood Furnace and Executus servers. I would really like to push for a lvl 70, but I like to rotate play between the three. I know one thing it is a better game than any of the GTA series. Lately i've been feeling down and am afraid as to the person that I will turn into being shy amongst people involved within my family especially when my brother is in presence seeming like the ghost in the background where my voice is never heard when i wish to add something. I have always felt this way especially amongst my family and family friends where I am subjected to be treated like a little kid hidden behind my own shadow. Other than that looking back at my childhood I had been bullied at scholl a few times and was shy in class not saying much even being ridculed by my teachers as well as my self image being tarnished was my own appearance with ugly looking glasses long hair which made me look terrible. I could be like this due to my mother's overprotective nature which has got me to a state of not sticking up for myself when people become nasty and end up just being the 'nice guy' who ends up doing everything for anyone and nodding along. My self confidence is at an all time low and can never be proud of myself especially that with my now ex girlfriend of whom I have cheated on twice one of them being due to my relocation to another country and not being faithful as i should have due to lack of affection and it is hard for me to move on due to this reason as she always puts me in a sense of guilt making me feel unworthy and undeserved to do such a thing. My other grip is my career that at one point was looking up for me when i relocated abroad working in banking and being laid off 1 year after that returning to London to work at my Dad's office (car garage) feeling a bit useless and not using any of my skills and till now am unsure whether taking over the business would be my final stop. I'm always blaming myself for everything which has been worsened by my ex girlfriend making me feel guilty and putting in me a state of confusion and feel I never have the information to impress anyone in teh information age we live in ex. football statistics, celebrity news, finance where i am always outdone by everyone else around me. I get to the point of purposely making my life harder as I feel I dont deserve any luxuries from my attitude. Please help I dont think I need a therapist but may be the only way out! moreResolved Question: Why do non vaccination parents fire up so much anger ?
I posted a question yesterday, about why parents didnt vaccinate their kids. It seems this subject fires up anger from people who did vaccinate their own kids. Why the anger? Even if I was putting my child at risk, the fact I researched the subject for 14 months means statistically, I am safer than someone who didnt read anything but the govenment leaflet. WHY? Because people like me also read up on car seat safety, pesticides in our food, filter water, child proof the home, buy cars because of their safety ratings, and so on and so on. The chances of my daughter even catching measles is around 1 in 60,000. Then the rates go down again, and again. There is more chance of us being killed in a car crash on the way to get the MMR than from the disease. That is statistically correct. Vaccination rates on council eastates in UK are high. Why, because they just go ahead, whilst some even smoke in the car with their kids. To say not vaccinating is child abuse, is a very tunnelled way of looking at the whole picture. I could equally say if you dont know the Lancet report, exact statistics of how many kids were permantly injured by whooping cough last year, like I do, That you neglect your kids more than me. Why all the hate against non-vaccinating parents. I hear sometimes its because we are putting ur kids at risk. Why if they have been vaccinated? Is it just because you have swallowed the pill, and if in 20 years time, they find out vaccinations is one of the criteria along with genetic subceptability that cause cancer MS and Autism later in life, we all go down with u?That isnt to say I am statistically safer than someone that researches vaccines , safety and all those other things and then chooses to vaccinate their kids. That is open to future research. Science changes u can never say MMR doesnt cause you head to go green, because in 30 years, a lot of things will be refuted again.Sophia .. Read the question. Its u I am talking about ...the lazy minded.Quote by not feeling creative : -"Finally, lets not forget that vaccination does not ensure protection against a disease" Nice post. Yes one of the reasons I didnt choose vaccination. What you are saying is I am selfish. Well for someone who didnt understand the question, maybe u answered it. Maybe I am.Reply to V lucky Mum, ..Sorry to hear that. My mum took something in 1978 for morning sickness that was recalled because of problems in babies. My 27 year old brother developed a rare tumour when most people in my family live until their late eighties. We just go along with doctors sometimes. But something isnt right. Science is keeping us alive longer, but causing illness and then curing it. Its like Coke sponsoring excercise in schools. Wouldnt it be better just to cut out coke? Something isnt right.2nd Reply to Not feeling creative : - I cant ask my Doctor, her surgury get approx £9000 a year for achieving so many vaccinations.O not feeling creative... Yes he did know a lot more than me. Satisfied? The CEO of Monasanto knows more than me about cows, but that doesnt mean I would buy milk from cows that used BST. Of course he would convinse me its safe. We are coming it from 2 different angles. Exactly - They said formula milk was better than Breast Milk. They also said margerine was better than butter. Capitalism at its best. :) Who is saying killer diseases, could it be the Pharmaceautical companies ?Jen L C ..jen you have much to learn. This is just a marketing ploy. You usually find and has been found that the same company that donates money to a childrens vaccination charity for every product you buy, probably exploits children working in sweatshops at the same time. You are not going to cure the problems of disease in the third world by buying pampers. Still who am I to judge. Vaccinations can save lives, so pampers is doing something. For them any risk is worth it due to living conditions and nutrition. Just like a mcdonalds hamburger might be good for them. Its irrelevent in the developed world.Quote by diot "If there was a vaccine that would prevent your child from dying in a car crash, would you get that vaccine for your child?" Ans Now your talking sense. I would say Yes I would let my daughter have a vaccine for that. Even if vaccine for that killed 1000 a year, I would allow a 1 off vaccine. Its a much bigger threat, and the person who said one of my family would have died by now without vaccination is misled about fear.Reply to "All Natural" - It was only a short question. Its the replies that make it look long : ) But seing as you dont have the energy to read as far as that, you have no place answering it, as you obviously havent read very much on the subject. The Autism debate is alive and kicking, only its changed now to does MMR trigger Autism in kids with an underlying condition. Thats the logical future for research. How do I know my kid doesnt have an underlying condition? More research needed ...Reply to cadensmo... Wakefield did not falsify data. That was an acusation written by Brian Deer who works for Sunday Times- which is owned by James Murdoch who is on the Board of a Pharmaceutical company that makes MMR. Wakefield was about to take out a law suite, but it turns out there is a loophole in the law that says it is not against the law to falsify news if its in the best interests of the people. A loophole Wakfield couldnt aford to take a chance on. The evidence still stands. A rare bowel syndrome was found in a small study of autistic kids. Its been replicated. It was the papers that overenflated the MMR issue because its you are more likely to suffer autism if you catch Measles and Mumps in the same year. Wakefield just said the MMR link should be investigated. He took funding because unlike other Doctors, pharmaceutical companies are unlikely to fund him. I believe he is a modern day Robin Hood.Reply to wee.tabi... Lol it has become a rant. But the original question wasnt. I just think its polite to answer everyone. This isnt even the beginning, and u could fill a whole book out on just one study. I am glad this has reached the 2nd page of Google if you tipe in Non- Vaccination. Maybe it will help people see our side. Its not a simple subject. Thank you all for your replies. Sorry I know it works people up. moreResolved Question: Reasons you didnt vaccinate?
Its been a difficult decision not to vaccinate. I had an ADR 5 mins after my DPT in 1969. It should have been reported by the hospital, as I was there for over a month at 2 months old. It wasnt, and reported as Diagnosis unknown. My mother was too niave to report it herself through the yellow card scheme, even though the doctor said off the record it was likely to be an ADR. I have spent most of the 14 months of my daughters life researching both sides of the vaccination argument. Now I find out that between 1968-1970, there was a bad batch of Whooping Cough vaccine in circulation in the UK. I decided not to vaccinate my daughter, but would like to here other peoples reasons. Mine: 1) Statistics of ADR's could not be trusted in 1969, as I wasnt counted. Therefore I cannot trust them now. Co-incidenses are not counted as ADR's 2) There are thousand of blogs by parents who swear there child has been injured by a vaccine in UK, but not many blogs saying there kids have been injured by the actual disease. In fact hardly any. It seems to me the government and doctors are over inflating the danger. Advising us on car sfaety ratings would be statistically more logical in safeguarding our Lo. 3) Tony Blair in the height of the MMR / Autism scare would not declare his onwn childrens vaccination history, and said he didnt know Leo had not had the MMR, when finally he was given his jab later than all other kids after a newspaper campaign to find out whethet he had had the jab. His older childrens vaccination history were never made public. They are just my 3 main reasons, but I have probably 1 hundredQuote by LillyRai... "How people can be so dead brain" Ans : - Maybe it is u that is brain dead. lol Autism is most likely a combination of things. More research needed. Thats very black and white comment to make, obviously you have not studied the subject. Maybe not studying the subject is child neglect.??Reply to spinneyw. 1969 is a long time. Vaccines have got safer, but you missed my point. ADR's were under reported then as they are now. I quote my experience to prove I am not a conspiracy freak, and ADR's are most likely very under reported. You also havent even read the Lancet report. It never said MMR caused autism, only that a small group of children who had autim sufered inflammatory bowel disease. That still stands and has been replicated. A. Wakefield only sugested that there could be a link between Bowel disease and the MMR jab and this should be investigated. He suggested single vacccines to be on the safe side. You can never say MMR doesnt cause autism. Science is not static. In 20 years MMR might be linked again. It was the press that built up the MMR scare. I still believe DR Wakefield. Why wouldnt I be safe?Reply to CBear6 .. Yes this is the usual things fired to me by the Doctor. Its not about the efects. Its about statistics. The main studies of measles in UK were 1976 and 1963. Since then no more studies have been done. These are what I base my decision taking into account that now measles is only averaging about 1000 cases a year out of 60 million. If you are talking about all these diseases coming back, then that a very detailed subject, that can argue about better nutrition, living conditions, treatment, and natural immunity were bringing down the number of cases anyway. Also it is not just the Autism scare. Do you know what the long term implications of vaccinations? Do they attribute to one of the conditions needed for MS , ME asma, cancer later in life? You dont know, because no-one does. There are no long term studies, but cancers are rife in the young. Rare tumours are being seen more and more. Something isnt right. I will not inject my baby and do something very unatural. moreResolved Question: Kids have way more than what we had as kids, but the crime statistics don't even add up?
Why is this? Play station 2's and 3's Wii's hand held sony ps new shoes clothes holidays to Prague for their 16th birthdays. I'll wager anyone to find me a true impoverished kid from the estates in western Europe. But for everything they have that we didn't have as kids why is the crime rate so high proportionate to the population with regards to children? If i wanted an ice cream my ma would tell me to go and scrounge Guinness bottles of my next door neighbors dad, 2 p back on every bottle. For all the kids doing crime in today's society surely the numbers don't add up for what they have already? The Monk, i've had knives since i was 10 years old but i grew up in an area before urbanization took hold. Now you have kids screaming wha wha wha i have nothing! but they have new shoes a full belly and a mobile phone.Astro couldn't have put it better myself, materialism doesn't breed bliss. Kids these days expect everything to materialize like magic in front of them. moreResolved Question: Do you think just locking up teen offenders only breeds more adult criminals?
NEW YORK (CNN) -- Ten years ago, teen Daniel Giddings shot a man during an attempted robbery and was sentenced to six to 12 years in prison. During his time behind bars, Giddings racked up almost 30 disciplinary infractions, was kicked out of two separate facilities for bad behavior and reportedly spent hundreds of days in the hole because of his conduct. After serving 10 years, Giddings was released last August. According to CNN affiliate WPVI, he allegedly assaulted several police officers days later. Then, in September, he allegedly killed a Philadelphia police officer before being fatally shot by another officer. We see classic cases of repeat offenders like this all the time. A teen is thrown into the abyss of the corrections system and comes back out no better, if not worse. If we had the right intervention for troubled teens, could we reduce their chances of becoming repeat offenders? According to the International Center for Prison Studies in London, England, the United States has the world's highest incarceration rate, with one in 100 adults behind bars. In fact, the United States accounts for less than five percent of the world's population, but almost a quarter of the world's prisoners. Considering how much time, energy and money we spend locking people up, you'd expect to see a bigger payoff. But in the United States there are about 16,000 homicides per year, or roughly six per 100,000 people, based on Department of Justice statistics. Compare that to Canada and Britain, which don't even tally 1,000 homicides per year each. Our current system is too focused on tossing criminals behind bars and hoping they get the message instead of rehabilitating them. I'm not saying we need to stop punishing criminals. We just need to start peppering in prevention techniques and using creative solutions to identify red flags early. Missouri's groundbreaking juvenile justice system is the vanguard. It focuses on rehabilitation, therapeutic intervention and conflict resolution rather than force and punishment. Small groups of youths stay in dorms with a couple of adult facilitators to emphasize individual treatment. According to Harvard University's Ash Institute, the youths attend daily meetings with peers, partake in educational and volunteer programs and serve as role models for each other. So how will we get the remaining "tough against crime" politicians to implement similar systems? By showing them how it will fatten up the government's coffers. The Missouri model has been shown to reduce recidivism, meaning states will have fewer repeat offenders to incarcerate. And the best way to reduce prison costs is to reduce incarceration. After all, why should juvenile offenders be the only ones learning conflict resolution and peer counseling? We should offer similar tools -- such as group therapy -- in public high schools to help all troubled kids before a potential descent into criminality. In these school-based programs, no topic should be off limits. Alcohol, drugs, sex, money -- whatever is bothering these children, they should have a place to share experiences, learn to cope with adversity and simply have someone willing to listen. Such a program would also enable children to discuss issues that they are unwilling or unable to share with their parents. moreResolved Question: teaching qualifications for maths?

Hi, (im sorry for saying boyfriend alot its just i dont want to use his name incase he sees it lol) I'm an 18 yr old atheist. I have always been very respectful of other people and their beliefs but some past experiences make it hard to: When I was 16 My boyfriend got kicked out because his born again christian parents didn't want him to be with me as they didnt want us having sex before marriage. For starters I think this is very hypocritcal because I know that they definately didn't wait until marriage to have sex and have heard from a number of people that know of the mother that her and her husband split up temporarily a few years ago and during that times he slept around ALOT!! I hate the way that because they have been "born again" they can just forget about all their "sins" and then throw their own son out onto the streets because he is a sinner lol. They gave him an ultimatum - never see me again or leave the house. for a while we just lied and said we werent seeing eachother but then his dad would try and spy on us and do video phonecalls to make sure! so eventually he got kicked out and they had the locks changed. They are so controlling and patronising to people who dont have the same faith as them, they are always on the defensive and are very narrow minded when it comes to seeing things from mine and my family's perspective. His dad is a complete bully he was violent and aggressive and "disowned" his son because of all of the horrible ideas being put into his head by his church. Its as if they are scared of doing wrong and would rather lose their son than look bad in front of their church - they live in fear, the church is putting such nasty horrible thoughts into their heads . His dad once started reeling off statistics to my mum about teenage pregnancy (which I am not condoning but at 16 we should have been able to make our own mistakes, plus if his parents hadn't taught him that sex was forbidden and wrong, and had been more open about the subject, he would have been more knowlegable and mature when it came to sexual relationships. luckily for him my mum had well informed me about safe sex etc so i had my head screwed on! but he did not have a clue). The dad started telling my mum that her parenting was rubbish (as if she was encouraging me to have sex lol - no she wasnt she was just alot more open and less controlling as a parent). They are so old fashioned as well shes a housewife who has no life no friends just stays in the house looking after the kids and cleaning, she cant drive, nothing. And they think thats a womans place! It just annoys me that they never bought my boyfriend up as a christian and yet expected him to just naturally be one?? I must also stress that my boyfriend is so lovely doesnt smoke drink, is never rude or argumentative with his family, they purely chucked him out cos he had a gf. i just find it all horrible and would hate to be so controlled by my religion - christians are supposed to be nice arent they? but they are just bullies. he just is so controlled by them when hes around them he goes all stuttery and nervous and no matter how bad they treat him he'l always go back to them because they can play this "happy family" act. They can't be happy can they? Is this really what christians are like or are they just psychos??? They have the right to their belief of no sex before marriage, they can tell their son that they do not agree with it, but they do not have the right to control him and to stop him from doing it, everyone has the right to freewill. Argh just annoys me soooooo much.NUNYA: I MUST ADD THAT MY BF IS NOT A CHRISTIAN EITHER SO I WOULDNT NEED TO MAKE MYSELF BELIEVE IN GOD TO BE WITH HIM. Historically I would agree with you White qb's have been better. part of the reason is that black players are often pigeon holed from the beginning of their careers into recievers, and running backs. all the way from pop warner. While there are plenty of decent qb's of all races, White qb's are usually given more support through pop warner, high school, and college. Thats no a knock on white quarter backs. Historically they are better, but eventually one has to believe that hispaninc, african american, and other minorities qb's will be good. Anybody that understands statistics can understand why white qb's seem better than black qb's. White qb's come into the nfl at a rate of almost 15-1 when compared with black qb's. For every Peyton Manning you have a Ryan Leaf. Just like for every Mcnabb you have a Shaun king. The simple fact that the majority of qb's in the league in college and pro's are white leads to the likelyhood that good quarter backs will be white. Its basic statisitics. And lets not kid ourselves. There is a reason for the labels. yes we are American, but what other COUNTRY in the world differentiates between their citizens. That 7% representing all religions, not just Christianity of course. This clearly states the opposite. And to add to that, the British Royal Society puts believer's membership at just 3%! I live on a housing association estate and can't believe the behaviour of not only the kids but the adults alike. I had children young but i work full time as does my partner. We are probably worst off than the other resisdents as we work to pay our rent (most are on housing benefit) and yet our property gets vandalised by the kids kicking footballs and throwing stones and their parents take no responsibility. The teens are loud until all hours of the night with no consideration of the neighbours that have work (probably because they don't know what it is like to get up early to work as they don't even go to school never mind see there parents out of their beds before midday) Can't the government do more to discourage those that are abusing the system. If statistics were used from our estate only 20% are likely to be working in 10 years time but i fear that at lease 60% won't be, who is going to fund them? It annoys me generally that I think this country is getting too soft; murderers are getting away with lenient sentences, paedophiles are living in the same streets as kids. What really is annoying however, is how we are taking in far too many Eastern Europeans (sorry but its true). Statistics show that they are on the increase. Initially I was all for a multi cultural society, but there comes a point when it all gets too much. I walk out in the street and I see Polish shops. I walk past a group of people, Polish. And then when you speak up about being unhappy with it, you are branded a racist. Great. I dont need the media to see this, I think we live in a very unfair society, agree or disagree?I agree about the spongers who take us for a ride, so unfair. I just read an old question on hear listing things that kids used to do in the 40's 50's 60's and 70's that kids today would not dream of doing, because the only thing that is 'safe' for them is to stay inside and play computer games, and it made me really angry. I am only 22, but during my childhood I enjoyed a huge amount of freedom and could relate to the post. My friends and I would play outside until the street lights came on, and would go off for whole days on our bikes, and all our parents asked of us was that we wear a watch and return when they said. It IS a shame that kids now seem to be losing out on things like this, but I propose that the 'threats' that are apparently out there have barely increased in the last five decades. The only long term statistics I could find were to do with homicide, and that had indeed risen by about 6 per million since 1950 - but I would suggest that this is mostly due to a larger, better equipped police force.I ran out of space. But I'm just wondering if anyone else feels that the fear we have today is due more to the media and the government than any massive increase in danger. I remember reading somewhere that the rise in child abductions in the UK had risen negligably since the 1950's. If this is true then I'm right. I just can't understand it - do people nowadays really believe that during their childhoods there were no paedophiles or kidnappers?! Because I'm in no doubt that there were probably just as many, but that with less mass media etc, you just heard less about them. Please, excuse the rant and tell me your views. moreResolved Question: Is this a problem for Great Britain?
I was looking at some statistics earlier about the level of divorce in the UK. The UK has a divorce rate of 132,562 couples in 2006. This is high. this trend is set by celebs getting married, having kids and then divorced (Britney Spears). The downside to this is that the kids end up spoilt. And turn into hoodies who hang out late night causing mischief. A friend of mine had been put in hospital a year ago cos of being hit by a motor bike after being pushed into the road by a 'hoodies' gang. Now this in turn will affect us - cos if the kids are going off rails, who will look after Great Britain when we are old. The kids are the future. Now obviously not all kids are like this but there appears to be lots of pressure on kids today - lots of teens become early parents and the girl usually ends up in a council flat without the father. YOUNG drivers are putting lives at risk by talking on mobile phones, texting, shuffling iPods - even surfing the internet - behind the wheel. A survey of 2400 Australians by insurance company AAMI found a disturbing number of drivers aged 18 to 24 regularly engaged in this illegal and potentially deadly behaviour. Three quarters of new motorists admitted to reading or sending a text message while on the road, compared to just one third of drivers aged over 25. And a quarter of drivers under 24 - already twice as likely to have a fatal accident - admitted being "distracted" by MP3 players, compared to just 7 per cent among drivers aged over 25. "They're pretty startling statistics," AAMI public affairs manager Geoff Hughes said. "Clearly, when you're looking at the screen you're not looking at the road. "And if you're speeding as well, you're more likely to get yourself in a situation you don't want to be in." Mr Hughes urged parents of young drivers to lead by example - not to rely on the "do as I say, not as I do" approach. "Parents should take note of their own behaviour," he said. "If they're driving around with a phone welded to the left ear, they might think about that before they do it. "Clearly, when they're teaching their kids to drive they need to inculcate that texting while you're driving, shuffling your iPod or surfing the net is not the way to go." The survey confirmed a recent report in The Daily Telegraph that fines for illegal mobile phone use had tripled in the past five years. It also suggested young drivers were not being put off by the steep $238 penalty if they are caught. NSW traffic services commander Chief Superintendent John Hartley said communication-obsessed younger drivers risked losing their licence as well as their lives. "NSW police have been targeting drivers using hand-held mobile phones, in particular P1 provisional holders, who cannot use any sort of mobile phone in the vehicle," he said. "Since the law was introduced in June, close to 1000 P1 provisional licence holders have been caught using mobile phones. "They are at risk of losing their licence with this offence." Catherine Alston, 22, from Glebe, said she only chatted on the road using hands-free, but said drivers of all ages were guilty of driving and dialling. "I don't think it's a problem with young people only," she said. "You see people of all ages doing it. Lots of tradies do it." moreResolved Question: Why did you ban pit bulls?
I just read a great article. In the 1950s there were many dog fatalities, most done by the most popular breeds of the time. There was only 1 pit bull attack reported, b/c they were simply not as popular as they are today. In communities where pit bulls are banned, the dog bite statistics have not dropped ONE PERCENT. The people who are concerned with what is legal are certainly not the criminals who fight dogs and train them to attack, but responsible owners and innocent dogs who have never bitten anyone. The criminals will just move on to another breed! Will you all ban that breed next? When does it end? The media has sensationalized pit bull attacks because those stories sell. Sad that the pit bull was originally developed in the UK, and now the UK is sponsoring the genocide of this noble breed. I am a pit bull breeder, and NO one would take away my right to own and love and raise kids with my pits. When will u stand up? When did the victim deserve to die instead of the criminal?I guess thats where our governments differ. Here, the government doesn't have the "right" to make laws not wanted by the people. Don't you guys have vets, dog behaviorists, and educated people? I know you do, so how did this ridiculous, blatantly misinformed, cruel law EVER get passed? Can you guys fight this? Do you have a right to protect your dogs? How can a dog who has never bitten anyone be seized and killed? In my city we would riot in the streets if this happened? Everyone who knows dogs knows that breed does not determine temperment! How did the human race ever become so terrified of the very companions we domesticated? How, when the American Pit Bull Terrier has been around for over 200 years, did they all of a sudden become so-called dangerous? And why have none of the thirty pit bulls I have bred or owned NEVER menaced anyone? Why is it that anyone educated on this breed knows they were bred for human submission, ESPECIALLY in the pit! This is an atrocity!Sweetie, in my country the government is of the people and for the people. I would absolutely have a say. You must organize first, as power is in numbers, then you must begin a campaign to halt misinformation and spread TRUTH, you must use your power as voters to contact your representatives and advise them of your concerns! I am sitting with my eight month old pit and my four year old daughter, both are sleeping together, and this is breaking my heart what has happened. PLEASE try to undo this travesty! And if your a criminal using a dog to guard your smack, crack, or whatever, i seriously doubt the dangerous dog law is high up on your list of concerns... moreResolved Question: For those ladies who are married and have kids...?

So i just wanted real peoples experiences/views on it, and not just statistics Thank you moreResolved Question: some pro McCanns have said that how could a mother kill her child?
Well !!! This is an piece taken from an article by a journalist Lisa Lascody called When Moms Attack. I was shocked and horrified while watching the news coverage recently about the woman in Texas who beat her children to death with rocks. This is not the first time I have heard about a mother killing her kids, in fact, there seems to quite a few of these cases in the news lately. I remember the high profile cases of Susan Smith and Andrea Yates as well as a few others that did not garner as much media attention. While doing some research for this article, there was another horrible child murder. A young couple in Texas strangled and then decapitated their three young children. I began to wonder how many killer moms were out there. So, after a bit of online research and remedial statistical analysis, I found the surprising answer. It is called "maternal filicide" which is a fancy way of saying child murderer and it happens over 600 times each year. That number seemed ridiculously high to me so I doubled checked with the Bureau of Justice Statistics, National Center for Health Statistics and the FBI Crime statistics. They verified that mothers kill their own kids over 600 times per year! That puts a pretty frightening face on the group calling itself the "Million Mom March". I wonder how many of those mothers are ticking time bombs? What sets them off and how can we protect their children? I know of at least one of those anti-gun moms who committed murder. She even spoke out against gun violence at the first Million Mom March in Washington, D.C. Then, a few months later, she shot and killed a boy. Now, she didn't kill her own child, but she did murder the boy she thought had shot her son. It turned out she got the wrong guy and shot an innocent person. What that group needed to be pushing was self control not gun control. Perhaps, after reading the rest of this article, they will see the dangers within their own group and switch their efforts to mother control. Gun control groups love to use the phony statistic of "13 kids per day die from firearms each year". Most of you reading this article know that number includes suicides, accidents and homicides. It also includes children up to 19 years old as well as crime-related deaths. So, if a police officer shoots and kills a 17-year-old armed robber that is counted as one of the "13 kids per day". I decided to do a little comparison between the number of kids killed by their mothers and the number of children killed with a firearm. I only used kids under the age of 5 for this comparison because they had their own special statistical category called infanticide. Plus, not too many kids under 5 are in gangs or committing suicide so the results would not be skewed. Children under the age of 5 in the United States are more likely to be killed by their parents than by anyone else. FBI crime stats show that in 1999 parents were responsible for 57% of these murders. Even though women commit less than 13% of all violent crime, they are responsible for about 50% of all parental murders. These killer moms almost never use a gun to kill their kids. They prefer a more hands-on approach like beating, drowning, shaking, strangling or suffocation. Others will resort to poisoning, stabbing or exposure to the elements. Less than 20% of the cases involved a parent shooting their child to death. (US Dept. of Justice Study, 1988) In 1999, there were 613 homicides of children under the age of 5. Of these homicides, only 73 were killed with a firearm while 351were killed by a parent! Of the 73 children killed with a firearm, about 20% of those were committed by one of the parents. So, that brings down the number down from 73 to 59. (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 1999) That is 351 cases of parents murdering their kids compared to 59 firearm-related homicides in one year. To be fair, I have been mainly discussing mothers. Since around half of all the parental murderers are mothers, that number is about 175. Still, those numbers are staggering. The numbers seem to indicate that kids have much more to fear from their own mothers than from most gun owners. In fact, legal gun owners are only responsible for less than one percent of all crimes. I am not anti-mother and I don't want to ban motherhood, but I do support reasonable mom-control laws like background checks, licensing & registration, waiting periods and a limit on the number of children one mother can raise. After all, isn't it worth it if it saves just one child? moreResolved Question: why is the English govornment so utterly crap with youth policies?

"Research by the Children’s Society indicates that around 100,000 children go missing each year. Those estimates are corroborated by research for the Government’s social exclusion unit review of young runaways in 2002 and by statistics from the Metropolitan police. That means that, on average, every five minutes of every day a child goes missing in the UK." Another source i've found says 77,000 children go missing p.a. and every piece of objective writing i've come accross on the issue so far has said that there is actually NO uniform system for tracking missing kids, nor is there a real figure known for the number of them that go missing each year. Personally, while I did pray for Maddie, and while it is a great shame that she has not been found, it concerns me that one girl (who just happens to be a white Christian) get's so much publicity, while others are ignored. What do you guys think?I am forced to ask why a child whose home situation forces them to feel as though they must subject themselves to the dangers of the streets is less of a concern to society than a child who is abduced - surely if a young person feels that they are in danger or are being physically or emotionally abused, they deserve as much help as a child who is snatched? moreResolved Question: Why is the truth about faith not taught?
Why is faith not taught in the context of what an evil and powerful thing it is to be used to control through conformity, paoitriotisim and stopping people thinking and questioning and seeking truth based on reason and evidence and fact based truth. WRONG WRONG WRONG YOU EVER STUDIED THE HITLER YOUTH? Like christmas they were taught though faith that Nazis were all nice folk who provided free adventure activities like camping and sports & built motorways & invented the car in Herbie movies. This is as people like you thoguth it innappropiate to show them first the stormtroopers battering jews and murdering them as kids their aged begged for their lives. Now if people thought like me & showed the german children what was going to happen in death camps to children, & shown all the burning alive people in bombings and what Hitler really was about befor the nazis worked propaganda on them. Dont you think it would have been more appropiate that the kids got upset & turned violently on the nazis the nazi teachers battering or killiing them. saving millions?Jilly bird without the sites how your kids know the true horror and evil of those they are taught are the source or their morality and how else to you get the kids to turn on those who oppress others without showing how dangerous and perverted said faith groups be they relgious or nazi/commie like they are. Without showing what happens when you have faith people make the same mistakes. Like people who say the hollocaust never existed, nazis never killed jews.
