Voting Question: Does business or engineering sound like a better fit for me?
Background info: I like a lot of different things, but mostly trucks and MMA excite me. In school I always loved math and science, my favorite math being statistics. I really liked American Gov. class just because I like news and just understanding what's going on in the world. I like puzzles like sudoku as well. I am trying to decide between an economics/business administration double major or mechanical engineering. I honestly could see myself enjoying both (kinda.) I looked at the classes for both and, to be honest, the classes for economics sounded most interesting to me because of the world outlook in them and just learning about how the system works. I have always admired the ability to use wits and brains to use the system for one's benefit. But I hear about careers economists have and it sounds just awful to me. 100% office job isn't exciting to me. I like the idea of designing turbos for diesel engines or something like that. But I look at the course requirements for the engineering and it looks so boring and all physics and math. I am in Calculus 2 and am finding it really challenging, but I think I should be able to scrape through, but with a questionable understanding of the subject I'm sure. It leads me to the question: Is engineering right for me? Which is more practical and could get me farthest? As for business, I'd wanna do like sports advertising or running my own business. Those are the only jobs that are business related that I think I would enjoy. I don't really like stress and I want a normal work week. I have a job now that I work crazy hours any and every day of the week and I hate it. What sounds like the better fit? I would appreciate any help. Pros and cons of either major and maybe experiences from what being a business or engineering major is like would be really helpful, too.Another part of this is that I'd apply to completely different colleges depending on which major I side with (I'm a sophomore in college-transferring to a 4 year university). So college choices starts playing into it as well. Because I like the school for business best. I like the two engineering schools I'm considering, but neither fit as well as the business school. moreResolved Question: Is business or engineering a better major?

I am getting extremely frustrated and a little angry with my situation, I am finding that the Mac Books on youtube have ability to run games on higher settings than my own mac book that I just got a week ago! Is it because maybe apple forged higher performing machines for them to subliminally advertise? Is it because they are running their games on windows 7? Videos from the youtube member Soldier knows best proposes his mac book pro with the Nvidia Geforce 9600GT 256MB graphics card, And my 2010 uni body mac has a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 graphics card!?! His machine can perform better than mine, and statistics show that my graphics card should have 30-45% better performance! I have been stressing over buying this machine for 6 months and I decided that this was the perfect machine for me, and in many ways it is. It actually was if it performed the way it was described to me before I bought it! I am extremely upset, and a great deal more upset if apple lied to me.. So I ask, how do i make my machine perform like the ones on youtube? can I even? If not, then why? Objective: take all religions find similarities to create a new revelation text. Apply statistics, history, astronomy, archaeological geology, language translators, etc to find the missing links to the actual truth. Once we find it we can copyright the book and all involved will get a piece of the action. The book will be free and profits will come from advertising. I figure each world religion shares a certain commonality and that's what we'll look for as the truth. Truth in the least common denominators. What is missing in society is a universal religion that brings everyone together. All cultures and races. After we are done we can pull everyone together and do away with governments. It can speed up the formation of The New World Order because for a New World Order to take place there must be only one of everything, one financial system and one religion, etc. It will make Plato's Republic look like a kindergarten book but it will be based on the closest thing scientifically possible to the real truth. . moreResolved Question: Earth’s largest economy…American Women. "Women’s marketplace dominance is clear in every area. Statistics overwhelm and convince us that women are the market and the economy as demonstrated not only by the Business Women’s Network but Marty Barletta in her new book on marketing to women. I need to research the Scottish Smacking Laws but in greater detail than the right to reasonable punishment. I am allowed to use websites like this for my research. The most important section is who is legally allowed to smack, the one I'm most wanting to find out about is babysitters and family (not a parent), are babysitters allowed to smack with the parents permission, and also family members such as aunties, uncles, grandparents, older cousins etc, If babysitters or family aren't allowed and they do it anyway, does the parent have the right not to press charges. PLEASE NOTE: this is research, I am asking what is legal, not your personal opinion. If for example a babysitter is legally allowed to with parental permission, say so, don't say no just because you disagree. Also, I need to know other details for example, what areas of the body can legally be smacked, I know the head and face are off limits, is the bum legal, or hands or legs. If the bum is legal to smack I need to know a few things, I know that it's illegal to use an device such as a belt, but are there regulations regarding what layers of clothing, are you allowed to smack the child's bare bum, if not what about smacking over underwear. What age are you legally allowed to smack a child, I'm assuming 16 is the age where you legally can't as they are considered an adult, If you can please provide as many of these details as possible, if you have anything else then please say so as well. Like I say this is about what's legal not your personal opinion, so please say what's legal before anything else, feel free to add your opinion to the bottom, I'm interested to hear peoples opinions on the matter, PLEASE NOTE: If people say their opinion (after talking about it from a legal point of view) or talk about their expieriance as a child or as a parent, these comments may be used in the purpose of my research but personal details such as names, or even yahoo account details will be kept private. I am also doing three surveys on the matter for parents who smack to fill out. Basically I'm advertising the surveys on the internet (like this website) to and when I have 100 of each then I'm going to roughly work out percentages of parents who smack in different ways and so on, all three surveys are the same questions but for different age ranges, one is for parents whos child is under the age of 5, another is for parents whos child is between 5 and 10 and the final one is for parents whos child is 10 or over. If you are interested in taking part in the survey please E-mail me at spanking_starts@hotmail.com telling me how many children you have and their age ranges and I will E-mail you the surveys, they are very short, and will take less than 5 minutes per survey paper. No surveys will be E-mailed until Friday the 13th of August. I am also making a website about the topic, this will be launched on Friday the 13th as well, anyone who wants the web address please ask in a comment, oh yeah and if you email for the survey then please say so in a comment so I know to check the inbox. I am at college studying something unrelated to the topic, but I need to do English within the course work, I need to do a discursive essay which is basically talking about the pros and cons of a topic and I chose smacking as I thought it would be the easiest. I deliver the essay at the end of this year, but I don't want to wait until last minute. I need time to get 100 of each survey in so I can start working out the percentages and stuff, the survey will let me know roughly how effective smacking is as a punishment, so then I can write this in the discursive essay, also I am going to start of with the law side of things as I've noticed some people are confused about this and think theres an outright ban, then I'm going to go into statistics and stuff, I need to do the statistics and stuff myself as it's English the teacher needs to see that I have communication skills (as I need to communicate while obtaining this for myself), I am also setting up the website (comment to know more) to see how deep people feel about topic, please comment telling me about the law side of things, (the questions I asked at the beginning), then if you emailed about the survey please say so in the comment and if you want more details about the new website. moreResolved Question: Statistics help please - don't know where to start?

A New Hampshire man who has sparked controversy for spewing racist, white supremacist views has decided to use his divisive platform to campaign for a New Hampshire State House seat. Ryan J. Murdough, a 30 year-old who works with special needs children at a local youth center, is the "state chairman" of an organization called American Third Position, or A3P, a group that defines its mission as "represent[ing] the political interests of White Americans, because no one else will." (The site currently advertises a "moneybomb" for Murdough, with a fundraising goal of $2,500.) In a caustic letter titled "We must preserve our racial identity" published by the Concord Monitor at the beginning of the month, Murdough offers his beliefs on white supremacy and racial segregation: For far too long white Americans have been told that diversity is something beneficial to their existence. Statistics prove that the opposite is true. New Hampshire residents must seek to preserve their racial identity if we want future generations to have to possibility to live in such a great state. Affirmative action, illegal and legal non-white immigration, anti-white public school systems, and an anti-white media have done much damage to the United States of America and especially New Hampshire. It is time for white people in New Hampshire and across the country to take a stand. We are only 8 percent of the world's population and we need our own homeland, just like any other non-white group of people deserve their own homeland. It gets worse: "In celebration of Black History month, I am going to recognize what they do best, commit crime, get AIDS/STD's,blame whitey, cry racism." (sic), Murdough once wrote on his Twitter page, which has since been deleted (don't worry though, because according to Murdough: "I am a moderator at www.whitenews.com where I can write more lengthy posts if I choose). Murdough filed as a Republican candidate earlier this month, but the Ashland, New Hampshire man's extreme views have since led to a few state GOP members to publicly condemn him, but Murdough doesn't seem to care. "I don't really need any Republican help. I wasn't looking for it in the first place," Murdough said. "As a whole, I think they've sold white people out." moreResolved Question: another quick statistics problem?

With the fluctuation of gas prices today, the mileage ratings of vehicles is of importance to most drivers. However, the ratings advertised by car manufacturers may not bear any relationship to what you get, depending on where, when, and how you drive. Nevertheless, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) spends countless hours collecting and analyzing data to determine estimated mileage ratings. The EPA places vehicles on a device called a dynamometer – sort of like a great big “treadmill” for cars -- where every car is put through the same routine of accelerating, braking, coasting, stopping, and switching the engine on and off. The mileage obtained during that standard cycle is then adjusted by a numerical factor to get it closer to "real world" experience. Starting with the 2008 model year, the EPA revised those tweaks to bring hybrid mileage ratings closer to actual usage. The 2009 Toyota Prius Hybrid car is advertised as having an overall mileage rating of 48 miles per gallon (mpg) for city driving, and 45 mpg for highway driving. In fact, it turns out that the actual 2009 Prius overall mileage ratings are approximately Normally Distributed with a mean of 47 mpg and a standard deviation of 2.1 mpg. QUESTION TO ANSWER: If you were to randomly select a 2009 Prius, what is the probability that it gets at least 50 mpg? (Round your answer to 4 decimal places. Do NOT include units. Pharmaceutical companies advertise for the birth control pill an annual efficacy of 99.3% in preventing pregnancy. However, under typical use the real efficacy is only about 94%. That is, 6% of women taking the pill for a year will experience an unplanned pregnancy that year. The difference between these two rates is that the real world is not perfect: for example, a woman might get sick or forget to take the pill one day, or she might be prescribed antibiotics which interfere with hormonal metabolism. If a sexually active woman takes the pill for the four years she is in college, what is the chance that she will become pregnant at least once? Final Essay: Argument One in four of our generation is not living because they were killed before they were born. Abortion; one of the most controversial topics of our generation. Dating back to ancient times, abortion was pronounced illegal in the late 1800's. Before pronounced illegal, it was commonly preformed and openly advertised, making it the "right" choice. The 1973 Supreme court decision of Row vs. Wade made it possible for women to get both safe and legal abortions from well-trained medical practitioners. This lead to a decrease in pregnancy-related injury and death. Yeah, some abortions may have a plus side when situations like rape come up, but very rarely is there ever not a better alternative. Stepping forward, abortion statistics have dropped, occurring only in once in every six women. Look around. One of the six women you are looking at right this instant will have an abortion by the the time they are forty-seven years of age. Considering those numbers, aborting has come a long way! On a recent survey conducted to thirty random women, fifteen were for abortion, while fifteen were against it: thats exactly half! That means fifteen random women, some of which could be sitting directly next to you, are willing to have an abortion, but only 2 of them actually do. Think about that life. That infants soul was taken, sometimes with just then pop of a pill. The empty seat you are looking at could be filled. They could have been your best friend, your worst enemy, your teacher. Your sister, your tutor, your team-mate. Your boyfriend, your one love, your sole mate. moreVoting Question: AP Statistics help please?

in Sweden, 98% of mothers initiate breastfeeding, with 53% breastfeeding at 12 months. In the US, only 47% initiate breastfeeding, with 20% still breastfeeding at 12 months. What explains this gap? I think part of it is the aggressive advertising tactics formula companies use in the United States. Another reason could be a lack of education. The US has one of the worst rated school systems in the developed world, and Sweden has one of the top rated school systems. Its much more likely that a well educated mother is going to breastfeed. Does anyone else have an idea as to what could be behind these statistics? moreResolved Question: Scientific Experimentation and Audio Architecture?
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT ANY ONE OF THE PARTIES INVOLVED, NOR DO I REPRESENT EITHER OF THEM. I HAVE NO FINANCIAL OR LEGAL STAKE IN THIS MATTER. THIS IS SIMPLY A QUESTION, AND ONLY A QUESTION. NO OTHER INFORMATION SHOULD BE INFERRED. As you may know, Muzak, based in South Carolina, employs audio engineers which Muzak calls "Audio Architects". To my understanding, the Audio Architect (other companies have them, too) designs the music parameters for the store. In other words, the Audio Architect meets with the owner or store manager to consult with them on how the store can best use music to optimize the store's branding and themes, to increase sales and ultimately increase the store's profits. So, the Audio Architect determines the type of music (let's say, 90's pop-rock), the volume (let's say, 70 decibels), the musical parameters (let's say, high bass and low treble, low reverb, and many sound speaker locations, etc, etc, etc). Maybe he might even recommend adding a TV screen showing rock videos in the middle section of the store. OK. So here's my thought. Let's say a clothing store hires a Muzak Audio Architect to determine how they can maximize their revenue. The Audio Architect picks a bunch of parameters, and suggests ways to achieve better branding and make customers want to buy more, to increase the store's revenue. And let's say the Audio Architect doesn't make any guarantees. Result: The store gains 1.55 per cent in sales for the year, over the previous year. This is a 1.55 percent gain in a rough economy. But the store owner decides, "Looking at everything as a whole, and seeing the whole picture, this was probably a bad idea." So he gives the Muzak Audio Architect a call. They meet, and the Audio Architect replies, "You're wrong. Our company has proven results, and I have an excellent track record of proven sales increases and boosting profits." The clothing store owner relents, and they decide on slighty different parameters for all the music, speaker locations, reverb, loudness, etc, etc. The following year, the store only makes an 0.42 per cent gain in sales. So the clothing store owner decides, "Each year, my decision was a bad idea. With the market parameters, and our improved clothing quality, and our better shipping company, and our better and more professional clothing salespeople, we should have made at least 5 or 6 per cent profit each of those years." The Muzak Audio Architect replies, "You're wrong. We wrote the book on music-branding and audio architecture. Our system is failsafe." The clothing store owner says, "Yeah? Then why didn't our sales increase to 5 or 6 per cent?" Muzak Audio Architect replies, "I don't know, but our company statistics don't lie. Ours is a proven formula. And, we didn't guarantee you 5 percent anyway. In fact, we didn't guarantee 0.1 per cent. Maybe you made bad decisions on your shipping company, or your maintenance crew, or your returns policy. Say what you want, but you can never prove us wrong." So here's my question: is the Muzak Audio Architect correct? Is Muzak Audio Architecture a failsafe system? Can the Muzak Company back up their results with sophisticated scientific statistical-based studies? Please don't give an answer such as, "You've got to be kidding, man. Muzak has proven results, or companies all over the world wouldn't hire them. Muzak has testimonials from customers all over the world." OK, I agree that they have positive testimonials. But what do we say about negative testimonials? Is Muzak a failsafe system? How can we know that their statisticians are correct? Thank you for your answers = ) Perhaps you are an advertising professional? a statistician? a corporate branding firm? an expert in musicology? What say you? Thank you =)My purpose is to determine whether Muzak's verifiability is unfalsifiable. This case study, as I understand it, indeed provides experimental evidence. It was (is) an experiment in itself. In other words, the store owner experimented with Muzak's "formula", so to speak, and ultimately became skeptical. Consider the following truth. I asked a famous consultant to the entertainment industry, "There are retail stores that have a strict silence policy at all times. No Muzak, no Sirius Satellite, no TruSonic, no DMX, and no boom-boxes. And if you look at their in-store sales and revenue, they have done outstanding and are incredibly successful." He replied, "But you can't prove that they wouldn't have performed *even better* if they piped loud music into their stores." So I'm thinking, "Two can play that game! You can't prove that they *would* have done better with any broadcast piped-in music!" So we have an impasse here. What are your thoughts? Can either view be proven??? moreResolved Question: QUESTION ABOUT GOING INTO A CAREER INVOLVING BUSINESS! PLZ HELP! IM CONFUSED! 10 POINTS!?

I would like to help anyone with Chinese and Japanese problem. Dear Sir or Madam As Miss. xxxx’s lecturer and advisor, I know this student very well. She has extremely strong ability to learn, and high creativity. I strongly recommend her to enroll in the PHD course in your college. Firstly, Miss.xxxxx has strong ability to learn and great potential. Honestly, she is not good at Japanese at first, since her major at our University was not Japanese language. But she reached the level to speak and understand Japanese quite well after six months of stay in Japan. She could lead 15 Japanese students in a work shop to develop a creative product to promote environment conscious society, and made a presentation in front of big audience in this workshop. The team won the best team award. Also, she applied to a paper contest entitled “For Symbiosis between Japan and the World” sponsored by Nomura Research Institute, a Japan leading research and consulting firm. The title of her paper, consisting of 10 thousand words in Japanese was “Borrow the Power of Doraemon! Product placement advertising in animation”, and again awarded to Judges Special Prize in the contest. Another example to show her strong ability to learn is that she mastered advanced statistics course given in our medical school within a short period of time to the level enough to assist my PHD student in conducting an epidemic field work for the thesis. She applied statistics analysis method in the right manner and utilizes software properly, contributing to the excellent thesis. When she found an opportunity to learn, she always reached the level more than I had expected. Secondly, her creativeness really impressed me. She showed this ability both in her academic research and daily practice. In her assignment report, you can always find some interesting concepts rather than the ordinary thinking styles. I remember that when DENTSU, a Japan and World major communication firm, held a contest for paper on the advertisement, she wrote a thesis about “War and Advertising”, She gave a concept of "Pensieve advertising”. She explained that the advertisement or campaign about wars could be more than vision and narration, and any other senses of the human body could be added on. This creative idea finally won Students Advertising Paper Award. In her practice, she always used her brain very well and intensively. When she attended the internship program at Hokkaido Television Broadcasting Company, she took part in a project to introduce the tour in Hokkaido in a different way from normal reports for Hokkaido like just providing information on sites. She created a campaign proposal based upon “unique selling proposition” which was based on her research on the feathers of Hokkaido. She developed a proposal entitled“Romantic Hokkaido” and gained lots of high praise from the department she worked for as an intern. Knowing that work and her building reputation, I was also impressed and gratified. Based on both professional and individual performance, I, with confidence, admit that Miss. xxxxx has analytical as well as creative, and comprehensive talent. Also, she is really a person who sweats at brain, body and heart to accomplish the mission utilizing the talent, regardless the mission is given or she set it for herself. I believe this young woman’s unusual character will make her competent for further graduate study abroad. I would really appreciate it if you could accept her into your programs. If you want to discuss anything pertaining to her application, please do not hesitate to contact me. moreResolved Question: Probability questions pt 2? Statistics?
