Resolved Question: Why isn't my online store selling anything?

According to statistics, we get about 50-80 visitors a day to our online store. Our site comes up first pretty often on google adwords and on the google natural search engine. The site has been live for about 7 days and we have no sales and nobody signing up as a member. We have thousands of products and our prices are competitive. Can you please take a look at the site and help me figure out why our grand opening is so abysmal? We want this site to turn into a multi-million dollar store that competes with the big dogs. pooltablestore.com@Tony RB oops! I just fixed that. I broke page that like an hour ago thanks for telling me. more

Resolved Question: Can someone help me with my statistics homework please?

I have an online quiz due at 11PM tomorrow and I have no ida how to do the questions. Here's the question: An auctioneer sold a herd of cattle whose minimum weight was 1020 pounds, median was 1100 pounds, standard deviation 84, and IQR 106 pounds. They sold for 30 cents a pound, and the auctioneer took a $25 commission on each animal. Then, for example, a steer weighing 1100 pounds would net the owner 0.30(1100)-25=$305. Find the minimum, median, standard deviation, and IQR of the net sale prices. Thank you!! more

Resolved Question: Is it a bad idea to buy Lucchese Cowboy boots online, and if my feet haven't stopped growing?

Early last year my shoe size(based on cowboy boot charts; are they standard?) was 6.5-7. By August, that increased to 7.5(about 1cm bigger). Now, I just measured my foot from heel to big toe and it's at 8.5-9. Now, I've got quite a handful of question regarding purchasing a pair of Lucchese Classics. 1) Is it a bad idea to purchase them online without trying them on, basing the purchase purely on technical information(which for the most part, should be accurate assuming the size charts are generic)? Reason I even considered making an online purchase for this is because online stores seem to have a bigger range of sizes for sale, as opposed to the store itself. 2) Are cowboy boot size charts such as these standard for the most part, or do they vary greatly from boot maker to maker(eg; Adidas, Nike, New Balance and Asics all have different cuts, and so size 9 Nike could sometimes be a size 8 New Balance or 9.5 Asics); http://www.timsboots.com/bootsize.html http://www.woodsboots.com/i_sizeChart.asp 3) I don't know if my feet have stopped growing. Size wise, I currently should be wearing a 9D. However, my calf is relatively lean(not muscular or wide), and as a result my calf circumference is on the small side. Also, if my foot statistics are Length(sole to big toe) x breadth(left-to-right side of foot) x height(vertical size of foot), I'm afraid my feet will be too small height wise. Will that be a problem, since I understand that the boot is relying on the heel and height of the foot to hold it in place. Please advice. more

Resolved Question: iPhone vs HTC Pure: considering switching?

So for christmas i got an htc pure, one of the newest windows phones. Initially i didn't want an iphone because i already had an ipod touch and didn't want to work on software that was so familiar. Also, the rest of the mobile phone companies have had 3 years to compete with the iphone and i thought there had to be something better out there. I like the htc pure, i just think the iphone still does more. The windows market place is new and a development in progress so it only has less than a fraction of the amount of apps in the app store. So how long until windows market place can compete with the app store? Although it is a windows phone and can download and install non-microsoft-published (.cab) applications from anywhere on the web. Another reason i want to switch to the iphone is the capacitive highly sensitive touch screen. I'm not impressed with the resistive screen keyboard on my htc pure at all. Its just so small and so hard to type out sentences without spelling errors. Also i'm not impressed with the media quality. Playing mp3s are ok, but going online and looking at youtube videos (which must be done through the browser) proved the video quality to be terrible. Also i just don't find my self needing the windows mobile essentials which it has over the iphone, like multi-tasking.. microsoft office.. ect. I'm also unhappy with the battery life on my htc pure. I feel like i can't waste any time on the internet browser, to save the battery. The iPhone 3GS claims to have longer battery life so theres another reason to switch. The only pro i see from keeping the htc pure is the 5.0mp camera. The still pictures have excellent quality. Basically the only con i see from switching is the camera. But some how i feel like the 'iPhone being the greatest smartphone' is from its sales statistics which is from its insane amount of marketing. But looking at my ipod touch, the browser, the apps, the features im looking for are overkill compared to my htc pure. So do you think i should switch to the iPhone from my windows phone? more

Resolved Question: Dont you think this article is wonderful and says it all?

Here is an article that I found on line that tells you if you should trust online articles or not. ARTICLE: When it comes to the internet, you know that there’s a lot of misleading, inaccurate or downright false information out there. By now, most of you have heard the advice, “Don’t trust everything you read.” But how can you tell what to trust and what not to? Here are some questions that you should get into the habit of asking whilst you’re reading anything (not just online): whether it’s a blog post, newspaper article, sales letter or brochure. What’s the Author’s Purpose? The most important question to ask, and one you should have in mind when you start to read, is “What’s the author’s purpose?” All writing has a purpose. It might be to: Entertain you – make you laugh Give you information Sell you something Encourage you to come back to a blog or magazine in future Build up the author’s reputation in his/her field Some purposes are inherently more trustworthy than others. For example, if the author is trying to give you information, or build her reputation, then the facts in the article are likely to be ones that the author at least believes are true. But if the author is trying to sell something, then read with caution. Who Is the Author? Even if the author’s purpose seems laudable, you’ll want to ask yourself who the author actually is. Have you ever heard of him? If so, is he an authority in his industry or field – or is he a suspected charlatan? For example, imagine an article entitled “How to Become a Lifecoach”. You should trust this if it was written by Tim Brownson, a qualified and practising lifecoach, who has an entertaining and informative blog. But if I had written the article, you definitely should take what I’ve written with a grain of salt. I’m a writer, not a coach, and I’ve never so much as read the “Dummy’s Guide to Lifecoaching”. Of course, as a professional writer, I sometimes do write on topics I don’t know much about. When I do this, I need to undertake a lot of research. So if you’re reading an article by an unknown writer, it’s especially important to ask the next couple of questions. Are Sources Cited? Does the author give you facts – especially statistics – without any evidence to back them up? In an entertaining piece, this might be fine (it doesn’t matter too much whether the numbers are right, so long as the article is funny). But if you’re reading an informative piece about the economy, and the author says, “Ten million people will be out of work by Christmas” – does she link to a particular source that backs this up? And just because you’ve heard a fact before doesn’t mean you should take it at face value. Have you ever read about the Harvard Goal Setting study? It’s an oft-cited example of why you should set written goals, which is usually referenced as first appearing in the book What They Don’t Teach You in the Harvard Business School, by Mark McCormack. This is how it goes (taken from Harvard Business School Story): In that year [1979], the students were asked, "Have you set clear, written goals for your future and made plans to accomplish them?" Only three percent of the graduates had written goals and plans; 13 percent had goals, but they were not in writing; and a whopping 84 percent had no specific goals at all. Ten years later, the members of the class were interviewed again, and the findings, while somewhat predictable, were nonetheless astonishing. The 13 percent of the class who had goals were earning, on average, twice as much as the 84 percent who had no goals at all. And what about the three percent who had clear, written goals? They were earning, on average, ten times as much as the other 97 percent put together. But a couple of weeks ago, I read Fact or Fiction? The Truth About The Harvard Written Goal Study on SidSavara.com. It was an eye-opener. Sid looked for the original study online, and found no evidence that the study ever existed, despite it being cited in numerous books and all over the web. There’s a very similar story about a Yale study in 1953 – which again, can’t be backed up. So just because a book is cited, don’t assume that the information in the book is necessarily accurate. Are Examples Included? Does the author write very abstract, high-level information, without any concrete details? The article might still be true but it’s not likely to be very useful to you. The most trustworthy articles won’t just include general principles or woolly statements, but will give examples too. And the best examples include specific figures or facts, or quotes from people who aren’t the author and who don’t have a vested interest. What do you trust more, “You could make loads as an online copywriter” or an article including several stories from different copywriters who are making over $50,000 a year? Does the Article Contradict Your Prior Knowledge? Finally, ask yourself whether the fFinally, ask yourself whether the facts in an article go against what you already know. If you read a sales letter for a new diet pill that claims you can “lose 20 lbs in a month”, you’ve got good reasons to be sceptical. Most people on a diet lose 1-2 lbs per week, and most diet pills are known to be notoriously ineffective and even dangerous (one, Acomplia, has recently been banned in the UK and was never approved for use in the US, due to its association with psychiatric problems). Any statements which seem “too good to be true” also fall into this category. You may not have prior knowledge of the exact area that the article is about, but you do know that most people don’t “make $$$ working from home” (or they’d all be doing it!) How do you figure out what to trust and what to ignore when you’re reading online – or when you’re reading books and newspapers? Which of the above tips do you think would help you most – or which would you like to add to the list? more

Resolved Question: Is this to throw the bone to the EEOC?

First of all, I am very thankful for my job. It's an okay job-- it keeps the bills paid, but it does not utilize my skills or education at all. I have worked for the same company since August 2006. I figured my hard work, persistence, and education (bachelor’s degree in aviation, working on MBA part-time) would pay off eventually. Last month, my manager was transferred. I applied for her old management job. They hired my only co-worker instead (it was the manager & two salespeople). She is lazy, sloppy, less educated than I am, rude to customers, calls in sick at least 2x a month, shows up late at least 3x a week, has a bad sales record, and usually spends 2/3 of her day shopping online for purses and shoes. She complained about her job and showed no motivation until last month when this management position opened. I am FAR more qualified for this job & I actually wanted it. I am a man (I’m on my wife’s YA account) and I really, genuinely felt like the only reason she got this job is because she is a woman. She is lazy, uneducated, unmotivated, and only started trying harder at work when the management position became open. They did not call ANY of my references, completely disregarded my education and loyalty to the company, and they told me I was not “confident enough” in my interview. Seriously??? I am not a shy, self conscious person by any means. But of course I was nervous in the interview—it’s a huge responsibility with a considerable pay raise that my family could desperately use. I am so sick of this company. I’m at a dead end job. I want to tell them off, but I don’t want to get fired. I have applied at over 70 jobs since January 2009 and I haven’t gotten but 4 interviews =( It's this wretched economy. I am thankful to at least have a job, but I don’t know how I can make myself respect this chick as my superior when she is the way she is. I really feel like she was only hired because of their EEOC statistics. They wouldn't want to be hiring too many Caucasian men, right? That might not look "fair". Not even if the said Caucasian man is far more qualified for the job. Does anyone have any advice?CapWest-- That's exactly it! I trained my previous manager & the co-worker who was promoted today. In the past few months, the only people they have hired are uneducated, single mothers (no offense to anyone). New applicants have to fit that mold if they want any chance. And we bought a house about 8 months ago, so now we're stuck here. Sometimes I regret buying it. more

I'm looking for book sale statistics for the UK or US. Retail or online. Does anyone know of a good website or source? Also, it would need to give the amount sold, not the profit made by the companies. I know that Nielsen offer some information but I think you have to pay for that. Voting Question: Need help with some serious questions involving drug and sex trafficking ?

I would like to write a story (for my personal pleasure no one else's) dealing with drug and sex trafficking. Besides the movies and other fictional books where can I get some serious information? I have tried looking online, but there doesn’t seem to be the answers I am looking for. I would love to know the ins and outs of both traffics. It seems simple, make or produce the goods, find a buyer, over charge and make the sale. But I am sure there is a lot more to it then that. I have tried looking for statistics and cold hard facts, even documentaries and I seem to be coming up short. If anyone has any good suggestions please give them. I just want to know the ins and out of the drug/sex trafficking. Thanks for any help! more

Resolved Question: Is the current crisis affecting peoples' spending habits?

I wanted to ask specifically about spending (with regards to the current crisis), because I sometimes like to sell things online on the side, and nobody has really bought anything in the last few months. Is it just me, or have there actually been studies/statistics recently showing that the crisis is actually scaring people away from purchasing things they don't really need, such as consumer electronics and designer clothing and things? I mean, has there been a drastic drop in sales in the last few months for retailers and sites like eBay and Amazon? I wouldn't be surprised if it were true, considering the problems with unemployment, the stock market, rising prices, and most importantly, CREDIT. Seems like all of these things would adversely affect the consumer's likeliness right now to purchase things they don't need. If so, I'm scared to think how long it may take for people to get back their "spending confidence." more

Resolved Question: why cant i find any information on prices of carabao? even on livestock pages, here is nothing on carabao?

i bought my gfs farm to keep her from losing it as it was heavily mortgaged. i wanted her family to be able to return to getting some income from thier land and not lose it.now a carabao is needed to harvest, and yet here is a lengthy but pertinant question i posted on one of the many sites with carabao in thier name some stating they were a site dedicated to carabao information, after i gave up in frustration trying to find information on carabo: i think there are many sites that talk generally about the carabao, and as such this is typical and a good one, but while the philippine government is striving to increase the use of this oft called "underused" powerful draft animal and to help the low income farmer, by assisting in the increase, or rejuvination of the past populations of the carabao, also often spelled karabao, as there is no "C" in the tagalog language, or kalabaw its often called in the philippines, and trying to make more of them available to the farmers, i find it odd that nowhere on the internet, including the marami (sorry, many and varied)sites whos name suggests they would be the source of all information on the carabao, not one gives any clue what one might be expected to pay to purchase a carabao, for use in this very endeavour. i wonder are there indeed any statistics whatever available on the average cost to purchase a carabao, for a poor farm needing one to pull a cart with produce of the farm, and to become a well treated wllfed farmhand, basically a member of the family. this animal is the most widely used and best adaptd animal in the philippines for this purpose, and has the disposition for it, as long as he also get his leisure time to soak in the water and to graze on grass and lie in the shade,as he has no sweat glands and must use the water and shade to cool himself, and is, i think underutilized for the simple reason that it is difficult for buyers and sellers to get together. i mean think about it, the internet is the single best source of information on any subject any of us can think of am i right? and would be the perfect forum to assist in joining farmer and domesticated carabao for increased production on the farm and to insure both the caribao and the farmer will not go hungry, and yet i have searched for 2 months for any information on purchasing a carabao, and came up empty. the last last rather obscure listing of a price for a carabao, was in 1998, ten years ago, when the internet was basically in its infancy compared to today. it said the average price of an adult male carabao was 1,000 peso. someone told me on the street, that the price is now would buy a whole heard at 1998 cost. and yet the internet is silent on this matter, for the past ten years. even the livestock sales pagses have absolutely zero carabao, while listing marami pigs goats and other animals of lesser importance in the philippine economy. i wonder, wherein lies the basis for this virtual boycott of information on such a critical part of the equation to help reverse the "underutilization" of the majestic carabao, and the relatively low economic state of the philippine farmer, and put more food on the tables throughout the philippines. the simple increased availability and usage of the already present carabao would drastically improve both of these conditions, and to impliment this idea would simply require the sellers and buyers to be able to communicate and to look online and see the average cost a buyer might be expected to pay, and to create a little compitition in pricing as a seller wanting to sell might want to charge slightly less than the average price, and volia a whole new era and improved economy for the philippine farmer might be born, through this simple act.will this change alone stamp out poverty in the philippines, well no i doubt it. no one act alone has ever made a complete reversal of such a national problem, but it would help trememduously, inconjunction with the implimntation of the idea currently being batted around in the philippine government of allowing forigners to actually own the land they pay for there and develop, thus encouraging them to invest more, as thier investments might stand a chance of helping the investor also. those interested would all do themselves and the carabao a service of they would ad even a small amount of information on this subject to the best selling forum on the planet, the internet. i posted a simple question on this matter a couple of weeks ago and got no answer. i wonder does anyone out there hjave any idea waht a carabao should cost, and where i might buy one in siargao del norte? the harvest of the coconuts must start soon, and there is no carabao. please help me help them, help me help them? sorry couldnt help the reference to jerry mcguire. more
