Voting Question: Help running a gaming forum,Can anyone help me.?

The Forum's link is http://gamingforum.forumotion.co.uk/forum.htm I've set up a Forum. It's been online since February. It's not been going well to be honest,It's a gaming forum,The extra administrator of the forum who helped setting up the forum has been inactive for a while now. When i e-mailed him about creating a header for the forum (Which he said he was planning on) he replied saying 'He had lost his photoshop skill'. I Know myself that the forum is very very basic,This discourages people from signing up to it. I'm asking for a dedicated administrator until the forum gets properly up and running,Preferably it is someone who will not 'Lose their photoshop skill' because i really need a header for the site,I want it to look professional and looks good for potential users before i consider spending money on the forum with a domain name and some advertising slots on various sites. Please Please Please Help Me Cheers more

Voting Question: Has anyone ever got result of their credit card application in 1 minute?

Or even a day? Most credit card companies advertise online saying the whole process will take 10 minutes or you will get a result of application in one minute etc. I am now wondering after applying for one such offer and not hearing for 2 days if it is true at all. Resolved Question: Can I get my money back?

Hi there, I have purchased some hair straighteners from a woman online and since transferring the money to the account details she gave me, guess what, no straighteners and no reply to my emails. The woman only advertises through a windows live account where you can view what she has to sell, but she mainly relies on word of mouth which is where we heard about her. I don't feel like this is a con as my girlfriend has successfully bought things from her in the past. Is there anything I can do to get my money back, all I have is a name, email address and the bank details she gave me? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks James more

Resolved Question: What is the most suitable thing to do?

My idea is building an online delivery company to deliver food products to people. Moreover, nobody here does that kind of service. Everything is online except having cars and some employees for delivery. Do you think that i can generate a lot of money by online advertising if my website is very popular (aside from the delivery service) or do you think that time is out for new generations to start making money on the web. Because of the freaking amounts of people that are in many online businesses. I really want to know how things really work. Because most of youngsters that made it big, were involved in online activities. So i think too much between the both. But first i want to concentrate on my delivery business, but want to learn how can i make it proper. Like how can i sell it to big organisations. And how do you find your experience with the web. Because i don't want to blog or affiliate, i want to do something i love and turn it to profits. Bottom line is how to use the internet to make it really BIG??? more

Resolved Question: Car insurance quote different than advertised PLEASE HELP!?

Please help me! I slaved my ass off to buy my 1st car, and I could just afford the insurance, I enetered everything on the website how I should and phoned them up today to book, now they have told me that as soon as you add a second driver the price goes up, even though I did add a second driver on the quote, and that is included in the price, now they are telling me it would be over £3000! One guy even told me the quote was incorrect, but that isn't my problem is it? If I was doing my shopping online and something was £3.50 and when I got it delivered they told me it was actually £35.00, they would still have to sell it to me for £3.50! What can I say to them? Surely if I am quoted a price, than that (or roundabouts) is the price I will pay!Quote was £1500.... It was the only quote I could even begin to afford for ANY car. I took me ages to get. Can you actually bargain with insurance companies? more

Resolved Question: Am I unique and mysterious?

This is just for fun, and i was just wondering if i was unique and/or mysterious. i will describe myself and what i like doing and then please give me an honest answer and i will either pick an answer or let others decide :) thanks so basically i am 14 and english. when i am older i AM going to be an astronomer (there's no question about it because i am too passionate lol). on wednesday evenings i go to astronomy club which i managed to find in my local area and not many people know i go to this, it is not something i really advertise. lol. i am also really into ghosts, myths, and freaky co-incidences. my hallway outside my bedroom is definitely haunted because i can feel it and whilst i have been writing this my door has already opened by its own free will, this happens very regularly. i go to a grammar school and really want to go to university. i used to be part of the 'popular' group but broke away from them because of how they treated people and what they talked about (basically boys and make-up) and i now have amazing friends who are not nerds but are not popular, we have loads in common and i feel able to talk about anything with them. i suppose i am quite confident and i take a lot of risks. also i am really superstitious (i think i spelt it wrong sorry) and believe in almost anything but not like gullible, more like deep-minded and wouldn't cancel things out, i am not sure why but i think it is because of my love for astronomy, which is absolutely amazing and so mind-blowing, that nothing else can really comprehend what you learn in that topic and if all of the occurrences which made the universe and us can happen, then surely things like ghosts, spirits, luck and magic can easily happen. my style is kind of rock chick, not really gothic but kinda alternative if you can describe it like that. i wear lace up boots or doc martins, leggings, michael jackson t-shirts or other strange t-shirts that i love, either leather jackets or waist-coats, vintage jewellery and eye liner and mascara. I may appear to be fun and free willing at school but my friends always say i go into really deep thought a lot, and i kind of know it myself, like my eyes just glaze over and people keep like waving and clicking at me and i don't even notice, and online i looked up stuff to do with my star sign and it talked about how libras go into like a kind of trance sometimes and this is when hugely deep thought is going on and it said something like, no one can begin to imagine the deepness of thought that occurs during this time not even libras themselves. i guess i do go into deep thought a lot so that is pretty accurate and sometimes i cant remember what i was thinking about when i come out, usually it is about like the universe and death lol (cheerful much). well anyways, i am just wondering if i am unique and mysterious? thanks xx more

Resolved Question: Can my letting agent take photos without my permission?

I handed the notice in on my flat last week. I am due to move at the end of this month. I have lived here for over 2 years and not once had an inspection. That is until now. I have one on Saturday. What concerns me is that a "For Let" sign is now up outside but my flat has not been advertised on either the letting agent's site or Rightmove (I'm in England, UK). I am worried that during the inspection on Saturday (I wont be there), they will take internal photos and upload them to their site to advertise my flat. Are they allowed to do this? They have not mentioned taking photos and I am probably worrying over nothing but still.... I have valuables here and to post my address and what I have online seems to be asking for trouble in my opinion. more

Resolved Question: If the problem is that politicians don't listen to the public why don't they just set up a new People's Party?

And if the public doesn't vote for this party that supposedly has the policies 'the people' want aren't they the problem? Resolved Question: What's the truth about subliminal videos?

I'm aware of positive experiences resulting from making changes to how one feels at a subconscious level. It looked like subliminal videos could be great for people - just sit back and watch and enjoy the benefits. I thought I'd investigate what's offered. I'm pretty disgusted at the results, which include: * Very dodgy claims, e.g. they can make anyone wealthy * The most obvious cheap sales tricks, like buy now to save x% - today only! * Misleading offers, like claim your absolutely free video (only if you buy a bunch of other stuff) * Try the free sample - none of which work (unrecognised file formats) * Watch this online short video (that doesn't work) * Harvesting email addresses to hit you with loads of their adverts * Excessive sales talk like dodgy car salesmen trying too hard * Countless efforts to grab your money My experience is that honest suppliers of honest products don't use all these tricks - they simply advertise, provide the means to order and pay, and supply. I looked for a long while and found nothing that seemed trustworthy. Anyone out there had experience with these videos? Are there any genuine, trustworthy providers of these videos or what?God is a man-made delusion to comfort and control in equal measure, and has nothing to do with the question! more

Resolved Question: What is the law regarding a faulty PC game?

I purchased a game from an online shop. The game does not run sufficiently on my PC - not due to me not meeting requirements, but apparently the game isn't compatible with certain graphics drivers which is not advertised anywhere. I only discovered this issue with the game after i activated it, which you have to do to play it. The shop i bought it from said they cannot offer a refund because i activated it, but should go to the company that made the game. As far as i am concerned, my contract is with the shop because i bought the game from them and they took my money. It is there obligation to take it up with the game producers because they have a contract with them to sell the game. What is the law re this? more

Resolved Question: Why do we have to wait so long to get US tv shows in the UK?

It isnt fair that with all the advertising online and all my American friends going on about it that on Sunday Trueblood season 3 starts in the US. I am wondering why on earth us fans of such shows in the UK have to wait several months for it to be broadcast over here? Is it a legal thing or is it just that british TV companies can't be bothered to keep up to date with TV shows? No wonder people download such programmes on the internet, but now ofcourse we are too afraid to do this for fear of being sued or fined so its a no win situation really isn't it?!! Aside from flying to the US myself to watch it each week I cannot find anyway of watching it, even online it is only available to the US, its not not fair!!! Comments please!!! more

Voting Question: Offshore banking and Web hosting for UK company - Intelligent contributions only please?

I run a few businesses in the UK, however one of my companies sources and wholesales 'grey market' designerware and footwear from manufacterers mainly in China and Italy to clients across Europe. I run and advertise this business completley online, even though the distribution of grey market products is legal under EU law. I still receive legal threats from brand companies even though the products were manufactered under licence, under my agreements with my suppliers I can not disclose the origin of the goods to brand companies to prove authenticity. Any advice on making this a completely anonymous operation through using an offshore bank account and web hosting. I in no way plan on evading UK taxes however I do not wish to be harrassed by large companies even though I tell them to shove it anyway. Resolved Question: House Buying - tips for getting the price down?

Me and my partner have seen a lovely property with great potential. However, upon the 2nd visit it was apparent that the land which was clearly advertised online, in the breakdown handed to us by the estate agent and verbally expressed to us by her was significantly less than what was said (it said an acre, whereas it is probably half of that). The house is completely delapidated, would need extensive work just to live in - is not on green belt land and - according to the agent - has had it's price reduced by 25k recently not due to the land but the fact noone was interested. My Q is - do you think we are in a position to negotiate given the misrepresentation of the advert? And if so, how do I go about handing in a lower price? I have no experience of this - and will obviously get a valuer in to price it accordingly but any guidance will help significantly. more

Voting Question: Seen UK top 5 broadband rip-offs? & how best to deal with 'em? What do you think is the best deal? How 2 beat?

I put this in Politics as Govt promise to roll out superfast broadband Is there a corrupt angle? UK's top broadband rip-offs, together with a few ideas on how you can combat them. 1) Super-fast broadband You might think super-fast broadband sounds amazing. Lightning-fast deals via next-generation fibre technology allow you to surf the net at more than 5 times the usual speed (50Mb). Unfortunately, however, super-fast broadband generally comes with a much higher price tag than packages with standard connection speeds. And I think, at £40 a month, providers are ripping us off - especially when you take into account a 8Mb package with a 10GB usage limit can cost less than £6 a month. The fact is, unless you need faster speeds for things like watching internet TV or downloading HD movies regularly, these packages probably have far greater capability than you really need. If you're not a heavy user, paying the higher monthly cost is a waste of money, frankly. 2) Restrictions on download limits Many broadband providers boast of unlimited download limits, only to accompany these bold statements with a little asterisk which, on closer inspection directs you to a fair use policy that restricts the amount you can actually download. Fair use policies are often a get out of jail free card for providers which advertise unlimited download limits, only to impose penalties or other restrictions if you exceed a certain threshold. And, to make things even more complicated, finding out about your own download habits can sometimes feel like trying to break into Fort Knox. For example, when I called my own provider to ask them about my usage, I was only told that I ‘need not worry'. This ambiguous phrasing may make little difference in my case, but in some circumstances you'll only realise you've exceeded your fair usage limit when you get a warning from your provider – or worse, when a hefty bill lands on your doormat. If you want to gauge your surfing habits, this data usage calculator from Virgin is a nifty tool which will give you an idea of your own monthly usage, which you can then use to get the best plan for you. Alternatively, providers Be and O2 offer super-fast broadband with truly unlimited download limits. 3) Broadband without a landline. If you move into a property without a BT landline in place, it will cost you £124.99 to connect yourself to the outside world, plus £10.50 a month in line rental, unless you commit to an 18-month contract. If you don't fancy forking out all this just to get connected, one alternative is Virgin media which, providing you live in a cabled area, will connect you without the need for a BT line (£30 connection fee applies). In addition, some providers such as Tiscali make use of local loop unbundling (LLU) to bypass BT and offer inclusive line rental. LLU enables ‘local loops' (or put simply, the cable through which you receive your broadband) to be freed up so other providers can design their own broadband packages to provide alternative, and often cheaper services. The third way you can get connected to the internet without the need for a BT landline is via a dongle . Dongles provide a convenient way of getting online, though from experience provide much slower download speeds than conventional broadband. Check out my latest article on dongles . 4) Tag on the line This is one of the sneakiest ways broadband providers can stop you from switching easily. They put what's known as a 'tag' on your line, which is difficult to remove. When you run into trouble, they often point the finger at your landline provider, who then points the finger back at the broadband provider, and so on. What many people don't realise is that you have to talk to the provider you want to switch to and ask them to remove it. Luckily, Broadband Choices offers a handy list of numbers on its website to contact with regards to having a tag on your line. 5) Long contract terms Last but not least, contract lengths for broadband, and indeed your mobile phone are slowly creeping up, and these days you'll often have to sign an 18 and sometimes a 24 month contract in order to secure the best deals. However, there is light at the end of the broadband tunnel, and if you don't want to be tied into a lengthy contract, you could always opt for a provider which doesn't impose one. For example, you can now get one-month only contracts from providers like Plusnet and Zen, which enable you to switch at any time. Obviously, your broadband service is unlikely to be 100% perfect, 100% of the time, but hopefully these small tips will help you on your way to a smoother surfing experience. Happy surfing!DJ I can't fib to ya, dude: it was simply the feature on Yahoo homepage as I came online earlier today As a conscientious ex-UK *1 sales rep, here is a simple google just done now:- http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=best+uk+broadband+deals&btnG=Google+Search&aq=0&aqi=g1&aql=&oq=best+uk+broadband+deal&gs_rfai=&fp=1df4639b9e375fe6 OG I nearly chose you now as best reply But instinct says that, as I'm very rarely in till much later on Sunday eves, I'd best link this Q to a few relevant others, asa test of Y/A volume of activity @ this time Anyone wanna do a Y/A search @:- Would it improve summer interest in Y/A to show number of views @ each question? Resolved Question: Outrage at Christian Evangelisation International Ministries Church, Abp Paul Baker to blame. WHY?

This church advertises on the net asking people to donate money to help the needy. I will tell you who the needy are. It is run by Rev Dr Leslie Mary Trombly who has a lovely lifestyle in USA. She goes without nothing. Her hobby is running the church from her wheelchair online. It makes her feel important. Under her we have Abp Paul Baker, an old man now, married with kids and grandkids. He supposedly sorts out the money and gives it to those who need it etc. But this is what we found out about him, and all of this is proven. You can read an article about it. Sunday People newspaper, UK. Very Bad Men and other tv programmes are thinking of making a programme about this guy. His last church threw him out because of "money discrepancies". He has borowed huge sums of money from parishioners and others. One lent him £8000 and then he nagged her to lend him another £7000 which she refused. Most people have to work a year to earn this. This guy then insists that he is sorry but he cannot pay it back and pleads poverty. Yet in the meantime he has about 5 holidays a year, long expensive ones, buys cars, bought a boat, joined the golf club, and takes his family out for very expensive evenings. In other words the people who lend him money end up paying for his luxuries and lifestyle. Other churches in his area refused to deal with him because he didnt pay his bills or over charged. Other jobs he had always sacked him. He is almost bankrupt and owes the bank a great deal. Yet he continues to spend a lot. Usually other peoples money, which they think he will pay back, but he never does. Although this man is married with kids and grandkids and very old now, he also pesters women at the church for sex !! He told one much younger single woman that he loved her and wanted to marry her. He bought her an engagement ring, got officially engaged to her (forgetting to tell his wife). He also virtually moved in with her, making out to his wife that he had to work very long hours and that is why he was rarely at home. He did this for EIGHT YEARS and it only ended when the girlfriend ended it, it would still be going on now otherwise. He became so loathed and distrusted where he lived, and his wife knew that she was an outcast in the town, and she was scared that if they stayed he would keep pestering this woman to see him again. So they had to move a long way away. The church knows all this, yet they are happy to keep him. Happy for parishioners to trust him with their money and their lives. The fact that he uses people and lies to people and robs them doesnt bother them. What does this say about the church? more

I collect a lot of wild oysters from the sea during the summer for myself to eat. Also come autumn I collect a large amount of porcini (ceps) mushrooms. As I am able to find so many each year I was thinking of starting up an online business, advertising the sale of wild oysters and porcini mushrooms to sell in my local area. Are there any laws preventing me from doing this? Would I be able to setup an online business? more

Resolved Question: Google ADS. Have you tried?

I'd like my e.book to be advertised by online. I need a not expensive way though... I've seen that many forum, blogs and websites have Google ads: the small boxes on the side of their pages and their subject is always similar to the one that that particular page is showing. I went on Google ads but it put you just on the right column displayed when you search on Google only. How do you get advertised and how much it may costs? more
