Open Question: Is Google the most unethical company out there?
In 2006, Google agreed to censor itself to get a piece of the Chinese market. Sold it's soul to the devil in other terms. Through the years, Google got mad because the Chinese intermittently would block Facebook, Twitter and YouTube (all owned by Google), and one day last year they shut them all off and never let them back online. Google wasn't making any money. A few weeks ago Google announced it would stop censoring itself and if China didn't like it, they'd pull out. Their deadline was last Tuesday. They're still in China, and they're still censored. It was clearly a power play with Beijing to get their biggest money-makers like Facebook and YouTube back online making money / free advertising. Many companies are unethical, but isn't Google particularly unethical for using this issue to further it's profits?Liuzhou Laowai: You say Google is not censored in China and I'm in fairyland? Hahaha good one. moreOpen Question: are there much people who are using AOL in Ireland?

Most effective way?
What's the most effective way(s) to trigger word of mouth in a town to promote a classifieds site? I'd like the word to spread like wildfire. I've told a few friends but that's not enough. I'm trying to promote a free classifieds site in a town of 30,000 and I'm looking seriously into word of mouth marketing. I don't think newspapers allow advertising of free online classifieds sites (they ignored my emails and never called me back) and I'm trying to spread the word by word of mouth. The site has a lot of listings already I posted and from other friends. The more answers the better. Thanks for your time.By the way no "Put a fake body part for sale" posting please. lol. That works but that'd be the last resort. moreResolved Question: Need enterpreneur advice on being better at being my own boss?
I run my own business which is wholly online which I thought I would be very good at since I am good with people, creative, unique, wise with finance, advertising and marketing in general however; I am by nature (on the negative side) chronically lazy, non focused, tired, un- motivated, distracted, illogical and terribly scatter-brained. It doesn't help that I do have ADD, do have a depressive disorder, are dyslexic, that I am not by any means a skilled nor fast typer and that I loathe computer technology to a 'T'. How can I get my act together and organize my priorities so i don't let my short--almost non existent attention span destroy my dreams of successfully being my own boss and running my own business? Is there a boot camp type I can go to for this sort of thing? HELP please! P.S. Please help me help myself out recommending a book, a audio book, website or what-not on something that you deem might truly help me out, MANY THANKS :) moreResolved Question: Is an MBA the right graduate degree for me?
In 2006, I graduated with my Bachelor's of Art in Public Relations. Since 2007, I have been working for a small advertising agency handling Public Relations, Specialty Promotions, Account Executive - you name it I handle it. I love my job, but a Master's degree is something I've always wanted. Currently, I'm looking at obtaining my MBA through a school which offers both online and Saturday classes. With everything going on in the economy, I can't afford to quit my job to enter Graduate School, so this online program works out great. Ultimately, I'd like to teach - and not necessarily a course which most typical MBA students teach, i.e. economics, etc. I know that some MBAs teach marketing courses, which I can teach because I handle marketing in my current job. I'd really like to teach at maybe a community college level and teach courses such as Speech and maybe English. I've wanted to work online for a while now, but my mom won't let me use her credit card anymore because I spent $200 by accident... I know that affiliates make a lot of money, and I know that article marketing is the best free way to advertise. If I use ezinearticles to submit all of the articles I write, and then have a link to a free website I have that automatically redirects the person to my affiliate link, would that make me money? Thanks for taking the time first of all. These 2 companies found my resume online and scheduled me for the interview. They both are sales/Advertising/Marketing job. Just came out of one of them, confused and somewhat disappointed because the person who interviewed me did not give me much about the company other than being a advertising/marketing firm. I know it is a sales job and as he said they sell it directly to the clients, through events and such. I asked him straight forward about the salary type, because I was driving an hour away from their location and they want me to come back for a 2nd and 3rd interview. My ultimate goal is to open a successful jewelry/jewelry repair shop. I don't have money or the 'know how' to get started but I've educated myself quite a bit. I have a plan to reach my ending goal. It will take time but I'm positive I can do it. 1) First I want to get started finding merchandise at thrift stores or flea markets and selling them online. This will teach me how to keep track of income, build my skill in financing, and I can start a website. With the extra money I gain will start step two, jewelry making. 2) Making beaded jewelry or wire jewelry I can build my creativity for different styles. This will also help me determine if my ending goal is only a phase or hobby to look forward to rather than an actual goal that will end up as my career. After some time doing this I would have also build up an inventory for my next step, setting up shop. 3) Now I can really get to practice! I plan on setting up a stand or small table at the local flea market. If I decide to reach this step it will be the most helpful to my ending goal. I will learn the basics of running an actual business, keeping up with inventory, calculating profit from income vs expenses and loss, and organization. This extra money will help me buy the tools I'll need for making and buying fine jewelry such as gold, silver, and gemstones. 4) Actually going through the process of opening and running an actual business. With the previous steps I would be saving as much money as I can to buy or start renting a shop for my store. My question is when would be a good time to start advertising the name of my shop? I already have a name in mind, but it still needs work. And does anybody out there have any positive criticism for my plan so I can do this as flawless as possible? (There will be many flaws along the way, I know) There's also a step missing somewhere. I need practice repairing jewelry before I actually start the repair. Does anybody have any tips to help me with this? I'm already collecting broken gold and such from family and friends so I can practice repairs once I get the tools, is there anything else I could do to practice with? Last question is what's the best way to look for classes to take in this particular field of career? I'm in Houston, Texas and would like to find hands on training for jewelry making/repairs. moreResolved Question: what's the best online advertising marketing tools?

imeem was a social media service where users interacted with each other by streaming, uploading and sharing music and music videos. However, it has since been shut down now that MySpace has acquired the service. The company was founded in 2003 by Dalton Caldwell (ex-VA Linux) and Jan Jannink (formerly of Napster), and many of its core engineering team came from the original Napster file-sharing service[1]. The company takes its name from “meme,” a term coined by author Richard Dawkins to describe the spread of ideas and cultural phenomena. imeem helped pioneer the free, advertising-supported music model for online music, permitting consumers to legally upload, stream and share music and music playlists for free with the costs supported by advertising. In 2007, imeem became the first-ever online music site to secure licenses from all 4 U.S. major music labels to offer their music catalogues for free streaming and sharing on the web.[2] The company also created the web’s first embeddable music and video playlists. People could use imeem’s widgets to embed songs and playlists from imeem virtually anywhere on the web, including on their MySpace and Facebook profiles or on their personal blogs. imeem was based in San Francisco’s South of Market district, with additional offices in New York and Los Angeles. The company’s investors included Morgenthaler Ventures and Warner Music Group. On December 8, 2009, it was bought out by MySpace Music, and all its content was removed. moreResolved Question: PLEASE check this English letter for me!~~?
Hi, I have traselated this letter to English. I am really appreciate if someone could check this for me. Dec.15 is my deadline and I cannot find any native speaker around me. By the way, I think I am good at Chinese and Japanese. I would like to help anyone with Chinese and Japanese problem. With great pleasure and enthusiasm that I recommend to you Miss. X, an excellent student, who had worked under my immediate supervision for nearly three years, to your graduate program. During these 3 years, she put a lot of energy on academic research and set on online advertising, consumer behavior and Product placement advertising(PPL) as her research field. She also worked very well as my assistant and really helped me a lot in my projects, especially in Shizuoka Tourist Administration China Marketing plan, Media preferring of High Net Worth Chinese research projects. Miss X has a unique perspective towards her research. As a result, two of her papers about PPL and new media won National level Award. I would like to mention one of her papers about PPL in dubbed and subtitled movies to explain her research ability. Although the data of the research seemed show nothing special, Miss X analyzed the data again and again using different methods. Finally, she innovatively pointed out that the subtitle did an effect on memory to product, and when a product placed in a international movie dubbed and subtitled factor should be considerate. She said she would continue research in this area and put more energy into the game advertising. I believe that she has already prepared for her doctoral program. Next I would like to talk about her performance in projects to demonstrate her strong execution and problems solving abilities. In 2008, I involved her in my Shizuoka Tourist Administration China Marketing plan project. In this project, the target is High Net Worth Chinese, which is a new concept so the information of it was very limited. It was Miss X to make an effort on solving this problem. She contacted her friends worked in the advertising agency in China to collect useful data. And she had leaded other team members to design a questionnaire, send out questionnaires in proper internet media to collect first-hand information. Within a few months, they obtained valuable information to help the project complete successfully.Could you correct the unnatrue parts or sentences or words for me?Thanks! moreResolved Question: Are people super gullible to advertising?
I understand how marketing works and is required for a company to inform consumers. But so many ads are faked, manipulated, false claims, and BS. Which option below would you choose and why?
Now, join the decision team at hotjobs.com. Which option would you choose and why? *Option1: Focus on a few major cities or on employment in one industry. - Because the biggest job markets (and potential revenue) are in handful of U.S cities, Dimitri could spend precious advertising dollars selectively by remaining a specialist in technical jobs only or by focusing exclusively on the New York area. But, Hotjob's profits would be limited and vulnerable to local market conditions. Furthermore, online companies were attracting investors, so if Dimitri didn't position Hotjobs as a national player, he might miss his window of opportunity. Well-funded competitors would go national, then return to the local markets and crush Hotjobs. *Option 2: Act local, look national. - By focusing advertising on the country's top seven markets, Dimitri could concentrate his sales force in Hotjobs' regional territories (espacially New York where the national media is strong), hitting each with short blasts of a multimedia and telemarketing campaign. This option would include limited spending on national television advertising, giving Dimitri more bang for his advertising buck while establishing Hotjobs as a premium players. It would also allow messages to be customized to each city. However, a poorly planned and executed advertising message could make Hotjobs seem like a Low-budget, regional player-making larger companies and job seekers reluctant to sign up for a company they perceived as too small. *Option 3: Advertise aggressively to position Hotjobs as a national brand - By coming out fighting on a national level in this new industry, Hotjobs would get a head start by establishing itself as a leader in the business for years to come. But, Hotjobs' main competitor Monster.com was better funded and already had an established public image. With much less money to invest, Dimitri could end up with no brand image while exhausting his limited advertising dollars. I know there are many many houses in Mexico that rent for under $500/month but I can't seem to find many on the internet. I have been thinking about a career in marketing. I have searched for info online, but all the answers seem to broad. One thing I have a tough time trying to figure out, is what is the difference between marketing and advertising? In both you are basically trying to sell your product right? Any input on marketing, advertising, etc is much appreciated. Also, I would rather be trying to have a new business buy my computers. For example, by conducting a presentation about Dell computers (if that is what I was selling), and trying to get that company to outfit their company with Dell computers. That is the kind of sales I want to do. How do I get to that point? What would this type of career be called?I wouldn't want to sell things in a retail store, but I'm sure I would have to start there. I would rather sell a higher quantity of the same product to a business. Which is why I used the Dell computer example. moreResolved Question: Copyright VS. Trademark?
I coordinate community events for film & animation. I recently created an unusual film-theme party - it has a logo, marketing materials, a pretty good event "hook", and mailing list of locals that are eager to attend more of these events. I'm a little annoyed because a company in another state saw my party advertised online and held the SAME EXACT kind of party - they took my flyer, photoshopped their logo over mine, and changed the location and date! When I contacted them to stop, they said "they talked to the venue and they said it would probably be fine." I said, "It is certainly not 'fine' - I am the creator of this franchise, so the 'permission' was from someone with no authority." They responded with "You can't copyright party ideas, but to be fair, since you inspired us, you can send us some of your marketing materials so we can advertise your other products for you so you can help build your organization's mailing list." While I appreciate the offer to sell my other product to folks at that party 1.) I'm pretty insulted. Someone just ripped off my artwork, my marketing copy & strategies and is trying to make me feel like they did me a favor. 2.) I would have a tough time proving that they are distributing my flyers/information. Once it got to a certain size, I was planning on franchising this party/festival - charging venues a small fee to license the name or take a percentage of the bar, in exchange for my promotion services to my robust mailing list. But how can I stop bars or jerk-faces from just taking the idea and not giving me a dime? It's not worth suing over because we're probably talking about peanuts here - again, I run charitable community events. Even worse, they are now asking me to contact MY followers on Facebook/Twitter to advertise "their" future parties because "I could use the exposure to market to people in another state and sell my other products to them." That just rubs me the wrong way. If I trademarked the name, could I issue a cease and decist, or do I have enough leverage with my copyright/the fact that I held these types of parties first. How can I scare people to keep them from stealing from me? I have other franchised theme party ideas, but I'm not telling ANYONE until I figure this out. I guess this is the whole "you can can't register banana bread but you claim your own receipe" situation. moreResolved Question: What are some of the most effective marketing strategies for a home based business of selling travel?

My TOP 10 promotion list. What is your top 10? 1. Search engines. 2. Forums and Message boards are a great way to promote your link. Just put the link in your signature. 3. Use Free Ad Boards. for eg. http://BusinessFreeAd.com or http://ovgo.com These are boards that you can post a text ad free for a pre-determined period of time, usually 5 to 10 days. Then your ad expires and you are emailed the option to re-post your ad free for another cycle. 4. Install a "Signature" in your E-Mail Program to help potential customers get in touch with you. 10. Write Articles for Others to Use in their Newsletters. Everyone knows most coffee shops have free wifi... mcdonalds is trying to put every coffee shop out of business replaced by 'mcafe'; mcdonald's "espreso" coffees, etc. They recently made a move installing wifi at mcdonalds. Sounds very convienenet, and in truth this would be a great step for "Combating" the poor local coffee shops in rural communities, small towns, etc. But the very strang move was making this wifi connection not only available for PURCHASE (which ISN'T advertised) they made it a hell of a pain to use. Behind a terribly slow proxy, and difficult to connnect, login, and surf, not to mention there are no power outlets available for people to use at mcdonalds. I had to drive my grandmother for a 6 hour surgery about 100 miles away from home. Not knowing what the hell to do for 6 hours i of course brought my guitar and laptop and figured it would be a great oppurtunity to busk and spend some time surfing the web or playing online games at a mcdonalds.... well... with only about an hour remaining on 50% battery... doesn't look like that's going to happen... If any major suit from mcdonalds happens to read this, if they do some kind of customer satisfaction research... WHAT THE EFF??? I had a difficult enough time cyphering through secured connections to find out your wifi name is "wayport" (the company that they use to CHARGE people for internet usage) now my battery is dying, and the internet is SLOW AS HELL because of your dammed proxy! Do yourselves a favour and make everything easier and more affordable for EVERYONE... get a simple dsl or cable connection, hook up a linksys and name your wireless "Mcdonalds" FFS!If you log into your AT&T account (if you pay for AT&T internet) and a few other service providers you can get it through them At mcdonalds... Other then a few others, you have to buy a "prepaid card" or pay with a credit card. I logged in using a friends AT&T account. and it is slow as dial up because their security and proxiesFor those of you who couldn't figure it out my question is: Mcdonald's wifi - Why the terrible marketing move? or you could say "Why would mcdonalds charge for what most competitors offer as complimentary" moreResolved Question: Should I transfer from Southern New Hampshire University to Baruch College?

Can you please proofread this for me. I suck at grammar, thanks! * I do apologize for the length* Almost anything you know is run or made by computers, industry, cars, jets, and much more. Businesses today rely on computers to make sure everything runs smoothly in order to keep their business going. Computers help businesses in so many ways. Computers have major effects on: multimedia and communication, advertising, market information, and management software’s, translation services, exchange rates, courier or cargo tracking, and documents. All corporations keep all their data stored on a computer hard drive. If computers stop working just for a few days, kaos will take over causing the possibility of the stock market crashing. Banking system would fail causing an astronomical amount of money that will be lost. Without computers, our country would fail. Computers are the most important innovations in history, without computers the world would not be able to function in the manner today that people are accustom to. Personally, computers help me in so many ways. Going to school online is great for someone like me. School has never been great to me. Online school allows me to pursue a degree in the field I want with an accredited college online, which I find to be absolutely amazing. Computers helped the world in so many ways and help us take a large step into the future. Computers are arguably the most powerful tools we as a society have ever created. moreResolved Question: Help me with an online college class dilemma!?
Okay here's the deal. I am taking an online college course and my teacher is a complete idiot. I am not saying this because I do not like her or anything like that, but more than once I have proved her wrong along with nearly ever other person in my class. She always grades my papers wrong and has to redo them after she realizes it and then she will submit something to me saying that she is sorry but will still have to take points off because it is a state run online college course and it will look as if she is "giving me a break". Whatever that means, because I really don't know. Well I recently turned in this quiz listed below and she gave me a grade of 80. This is not a bad grade I know, but I know the answers I submitted were right as I researched and asked others employed in the profession if my answers were correct. I would like to know your answers and I made a deal with her that if I can get at least 10 other people that do not know my initial answers to the quiz to answer the questions the same way that I did, she will give me a full grade. So thanks in advance! The quiz is about graphic design, marketing, sales, and advertising. 1. What are the differences between a “strategy” and a “tactic” in advertising? 2. What is an SMP? What kind of problems sometimes come up within the agencies internal management? – How can they be solved? 10. Why is it important that problems within the creative team environment be solved? moreResolved Question: What's the difference between trading and investing?
Hey guys. I'm pretty sure that when you trade, you're actually investing, and one thing involves trading systems or whatever, and the other one deals with Wall Street. But I need to know the difference. Also, if I want to make money online, and NOT deal with customers, advertising, or doing any marketing at all, can this be a good option for me? I do know that I need a good capital, but I can handle that. Another question is, how much capital would I need for this kind of business? Thanks a lot! moreResolved Question: Unemployed after university, what should I do?!? Help!!!?
I graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Urban Planning back in June 2007. Since then, I've only managed to land ONE urban planning position (temp. position). Since May 2009, that contract expired. I'm now 24, and I don't even have a part-time job either. So you can imagine the world of trouble I'm in financially! It's so frustrating! I applied online to many urban planning positions I see. Everytime I applied, I get no response in return. Plus, the urban planning jobs being advertised require such heavy credentials (i.e. experience in "X" number of years, and so on). What?! Do they expect all of us to be born with experience?! I just got out of university! Damn, It's ridiculous! Plus, If I'm not hired, at least they could have had enough courtesy to call me back and tell me so instead of leaving me hanging. I don't know! Being ignored/ rejected by employers has brought my morale to new lows---it makes me feel like crap! At times I feel like a colossal failure. I'm battling depression too, which compounds my problem. Anyways, now I' m left to think about a few things: 1) How long should I ride this out (ie. look for more urban planning jobs)? 2) I'm thinking of pursuing a meteorology degree since I feel I'm now more interested in the weather than urban planning. Question is, will the jobs be easy to get after I graduate? I'm just too afraid to tread into unchartered waters thinking that I might drown again...in debt that is...university is too expensive here... 3) If meteorology jobs are not easy to get, are there any other fields you know of that are less competitive where you can at least get hired more easily? 4) I write poetry/ rap music for fun. How can I put those skills to good use and 5) Going back to part 1, if I wanted to ride this out longer with finding an urban planning job, what kind of positions can (or should) I look for? Internships? Volunteer work? How do I at least get my foot in the door? Any suggestions? There's just so much going on, so much to think about. I guess the job market's just tough out there at the moment, am I right? Plus, it doesn't help matters much knowing that I blew $25, 000 to get that degree in urban planning. Yeah, here in Toronto, Canada, it costs on average $5000 + a year in terms of tuition fees if you want to attend university, which is way too much! New grads without a job like myself are royally screwed, that's for sure! So yeah, what should I do?! Is there hope?! Any help's appreciated! moreVoting Question: What is an ideal major?
Ok, I love traveling, foreign languages, and foreign cultures, and I'd love to work in a job where I can talk to people from all over the world. I am a single mom, so I don't want a job where I'll be struggling. I was thinking of majoring in Spanish (I already CLEPed out of the first semester class) with a minor in International Business or maybe Marketing. Also, I'd like to add that I have taken 2 years of College Japanese (however, this minor or major is not offered online in my state, and there aren't many Japanese bilingual jobs here) and several classes in the field of Advertising (since that was one of my prior majors). I was thinking of maybe going for a major that pertains to some classes I have already taken.
