Voting Question: Offshore banking and Web hosting for UK company - Intelligent contributions only please?

I run a few businesses in the UK, however one of my companies sources and wholesales 'grey market' designerware and footwear from manufacterers mainly in China and Italy to clients across Europe. I run and advertise this business completley online, even though the distribution of grey market products is legal under EU law. I still receive legal threats from brand companies even though the products were manufactered under licence, under my agreements with my suppliers I can not disclose the origin of the goods to brand companies to prove authenticity. Any advice on making this a completely anonymous operation through using an offshore bank account and web hosting. I in no way plan on evading UK taxes however I do not wish to be harrassed by large companies even though I tell them to shove it anyway. Intelligent advice only please, comments are greatly apreciated. more

Resolved Question: Is Google the most unethical company out there?

In 2006, Google agreed to censor itself to get a piece of the Chinese market. Sold it's soul to the devil in other terms. Through the years, Google got mad because the Chinese intermittently would block Facebook, Twitter and YouTube (all owned by Google), and one day last year they shut them all off and never let them back online. Google wasn't making any money. A few weeks ago Google announced it would stop censoring itself and if China didn't like it, they'd pull out. Their deadline was last Tuesday. They're still in China, and they're still censored. It was clearly a power play with Beijing to get their biggest money-makers like Facebook and YouTube back online making money / free advertising. Many companies are unethical, but isn't Google particularly unethical for using this issue to further it's profits?Liuzhou Laowai: You say Google is not censored in China and I'm in fairyland? Hahaha good one. more

Resolved Question: PLEASE check this English letter for me!~~?

Hi, I have traselated this letter to English. I am really appreciate if someone could check this for me. Dec.15 is my deadline and I cannot find any native speaker around me. By the way, I think I am good at Chinese and Japanese. I would like to help anyone with Chinese and Japanese problem. With great pleasure and enthusiasm that I recommend to you Miss. X, an excellent student, who had worked under my immediate supervision for nearly three years, to your graduate program. During these 3 years, she put a lot of energy on academic research and set on online advertising, consumer behavior and Product placement advertising(PPL) as her research field. She also worked very well as my assistant and really helped me a lot in my projects, especially in Shizuoka Tourist Administration China Marketing plan, Media preferring of High Net Worth Chinese research projects. Miss X has a unique perspective towards her research. As a result, two of her papers about PPL and new media won National level Award. I would like to mention one of her papers about PPL in dubbed and subtitled movies to explain her research ability. Although the data of the research seemed show nothing special, Miss X analyzed the data again and again using different methods. Finally, she innovatively pointed out that the subtitle did an effect on memory to product, and when a product placed in a international movie dubbed and subtitled factor should be considerate. She said she would continue research in this area and put more energy into the game advertising. I believe that she has already prepared for her doctoral program. Next I would like to talk about her performance in projects to demonstrate her strong execution and problems solving abilities. In 2008, I involved her in my Shizuoka Tourist Administration China Marketing plan project. In this project, the target is High Net Worth Chinese, which is a new concept so the information of it was very limited. It was Miss X to make an effort on solving this problem. She contacted her friends worked in the advertising agency in China to collect useful data. And she had leaded other team members to design a questionnaire, send out questionnaires in proper internet media to collect first-hand information. Within a few months, they obtained valuable information to help the project complete successfully.Could you correct the unnatrue parts or sentences or words for me?Thanks! more

Voting Question: How do I know if my Ed Hardy Tee is Authentic?

I buy a lot of my clothing at platos closet which is a national resale store. The prices are great and I find a lot of great brands. I sold one of my ed hardy tees on ebay a few weeks back and the buyer left me negative feedback because she said it was not authentic. I never advertised my item as authentic although I assumed it was but guess not. I looked online and found a tutorial saying that authentic ed hardy will have the bulldog on the tag and a serial number on the side and it should NOT have a tag saying "made in china" So I went through my closet and found an ED hardy tee I had bought at the resale store it had the bulldog but no serial number (looks like it may have been cut out though) and there was also a tag saying "made in china" then I compaired it to a sweatshirt that I had bought brand new at dillards (A higher end department store) That sweatshirt however did NOT have a bulldog it had a tiger on the tag and it did have a serial number but also had a tag saying made in china. I would assume that a national chain would not carry fakes so obviously this tutorial is wrong? Right? Maybe misleading so other buyers will think their products are real when really they are fake. I don't know. I'm confused. Could someone help? more

Resolved Question: Prepaid credit cards available to non-US/UK residents?

I've been doing some searching online and here to find some good leads as to where I can find a reasonably good prepaid credit card with terms I've willing to accept. However (and its a big however) is most, if not all, of the advertised prepaid cards are geared for US and UK residents. I can't even apply for them without meeting the nationality requirements. I'm a non-American living in Shanghai, China (It's an unfortunate truth these relatively new hybrid cards aren't known about in China by the banks.) at this time so flexibility in this area is paramount during the application process. Please someone guide me to prepaid credit card nirvana. more

Resolved Question: Which IP numbers will BLOCK all of China?

My forums, online forms and email server is being pounded by Chinese. Every time I block an IP address, it turns out to be in China. They advertise everything from fake Nike shoes to game gold and dvd ripping. Many are selling "unlocked" iPhones. I'm so tired of deleting them, I just want to turn CHINA off. How do I block them? more

Resolved Question: Housing in Guangzhou?

I got a job offer today for a position in Guangzhou and I'm going to need to find a place for a year at least. There is some relocation assistance with the company I'm working for but, honestly, I'd rather have some wheels in motion before I get there. Adjusting to live in China will be enough I think. Resolved Question: How many of you have done things because of your disability that you might not have done?

I wouldnt have had so many different jobs, Media Advertising, Investment Consultant, Free Lance Journalist, & TEFL. I had a front page column (a very short time) with a major newspaper, which I am proud of. If not for my disability I probably would have stayed with my accident employment. I never would have gone to China,& met so many interesting & great people there. I became very ill over there tho ( the FM and compromised immune system). But I DID get there & I DID get to Hong Kong too, even if it was a medivac, I went across the longest bridge in the world and through the Victoria Harbour tunnel. When I see shows about it on TV now I can say I've been there. I've met nice people at Rehab Centres & Pain clinics I would have never met. I've met great people online & made some lasting friendhships. I took up painting because of boredom & thats been a good thing, I have some talent I never explored. I understand my son better, he is dyslexic. Now I walk in his shoes.Annetoronto I am saying that when you are disabled you come up against a road block, you either detour or you sit there forever. I am asking how many people took that detour and where has it taken them that they might not have gone if they could have just kept on going in their lives without having to navigate barriers. The disabled get handed a different map than other people, where did yours lead you? I am NOT saying the being disabled has been a great gift or a marvelous thing for any of us. Its a rotten thing to happen to good people, no one is denying that. Many of us did things we might not have done. It definitely took us out of the 9 to 5 rut most people get stuck in. It doesnt hurt to sometimes count the good things we experienced or accomplished in life. Everyone needs a lift once in awhile. I love the answers here. There's a lot to be proud of ! more

Resolved Question: Is there an English website for buying Beijing Olympics tickets when they go on sale?

I would like to buy online (I'm a "Foreigner", not resident of China.) I see US travel agencies advertising tickets. Must I go through an agent? Can't I buy directly? I went to the official olympics website, but it's so crowded with info. I spent a lot of time and couldn't find the answer there. Has anyone looked into this already? more
