Resolved Question: Smacking Laws Scotland?

I need to research the Scottish Smacking Laws but in greater detail than the right to reasonable punishment. I am allowed to use websites like this for my research. The most important section is who is legally allowed to smack, the one I'm most wanting to find out about is babysitters and family (not a parent), are babysitters allowed to smack with the parents permission, and also family members such as aunties, uncles, grandparents, older cousins etc, If babysitters or family aren't allowed and they do it anyway, does the parent have the right not to press charges. PLEASE NOTE: this is research, I am asking what is legal, not your personal opinion. If for example a babysitter is legally allowed to with parental permission, say so, don't say no just because you disagree. Also, I need to know other details for example, what areas of the body can legally be smacked, I know the head and face are off limits, is the bum legal, or hands or legs. If the bum is legal to smack I need to know a few things, I know that it's illegal to use an device such as a belt, but are there regulations regarding what layers of clothing, are you allowed to smack the child's bare bum, if not what about smacking over underwear. What age are you legally allowed to smack a child, I'm assuming 16 is the age where you legally can't as they are considered an adult, If you can please provide as many of these details as possible, if you have anything else then please say so as well. Like I say this is about what's legal not your personal opinion, so please say what's legal before anything else, feel free to add your opinion to the bottom, I'm interested to hear peoples opinions on the matter, PLEASE NOTE: If people say their opinion (after talking about it from a legal point of view) or talk about their expieriance as a child or as a parent, these comments may be used in the purpose of my research but personal details such as names, or even yahoo account details will be kept private. I am also doing three surveys on the matter for parents who smack to fill out. Basically I'm advertising the surveys on the internet (like this website) to and when I have 100 of each then I'm going to roughly work out percentages of parents who smack in different ways and so on, all three surveys are the same questions but for different age ranges, one is for parents whos child is under the age of 5, another is for parents whos child is between 5 and 10 and the final one is for parents whos child is 10 or over. If you are interested in taking part in the survey please E-mail me at spanking_starts@hotmail.com telling me how many children you have and their age ranges and I will E-mail you the surveys, they are very short, and will take less than 5 minutes per survey paper. No surveys will be E-mailed until Friday the 13th of August. I am also making a website about the topic, this will be launched on Friday the 13th as well, anyone who wants the web address please ask in a comment, oh yeah and if you email for the survey then please say so in a comment so I know to check the inbox. I am at college studying something unrelated to the topic, but I need to do English within the course work, I need to do a discursive essay which is basically talking about the pros and cons of a topic and I chose smacking as I thought it would be the easiest. I deliver the essay at the end of this year, but I don't want to wait until last minute. I need time to get 100 of each survey in so I can start working out the percentages and stuff, the survey will let me know roughly how effective smacking is as a punishment, so then I can write this in the discursive essay, also I am going to start of with the law side of things as I've noticed some people are confused about this and think theres an outright ban, then I'm going to go into statistics and stuff, I need to do the statistics and stuff myself as it's English the teacher needs to see that I have communication skills (as I need to communicate while obtaining this for myself), I am also setting up the website (comment to know more) to see how deep people feel about topic, please comment telling me about the law side of things, (the questions I asked at the beginning), then if you emailed about the survey please say so in the comment and if you want more details about the new website. more

Resolved Question: Is this a good way to set up my own photography business realistically?

Right well here is my situation.. I'm 17, in my first year of sixth form studying English Language, Sociology and Fine Art. I'm expected to get B's at the end of the year. As much as i like school and the subjects i do, there isn't anything i want to do at University. My hobby is photography, i just have a normal digital camera. No knowledge of light, lenses, composition or anything like that. But i still want to be a photographer, as in Weddings, family photos, model portfolios, landscapes e.t.c. I've seen photography courses at various University's, but non of them are what i want. So, here is my proposal, and i want you guys to tell me if its realistic. 1.For my 18th Birthday (in September) my parents are willing to buy me a professional camera, then get some practise with that. 2. Finish my A Levels in July 2011, and have good grades to fall back on. 3. During that summer, get a job (as in a shop assistant or something) to get money. At the same time go to a photography course to gain knowledge and skills. 4. After the course start doing one off jobs for people (Cheap but enough to make a bit of profit), and advertise myself in shop windows/the internet/newspaper e.t.c. 5. Hopefully my business will grow and grow into something professional. Is this realistic/a good idea? I don't mind the truth :) more

i recently turned 16 and i really need a job, but i know jobs are difficult to get at the moment. i'm just looking for a saturday job, they aren't advertised on the internet generally and without going into every shop regularly and asking if there are any vacancies yet i'm not really sure how. i'd like a job in a clothes shop because i want to study fashion at university, so any experience i can get will be useful. i have been round a few and given in CV's, but it could be a while before anything actually comes up. i'm wondering if there's anywhere to actually find out about vacancies without pestering. help :( i live in england if that's relevant. more

Hi everyone, I run a few small internet businesses and, now I have 3 months from studying, would really love to make the most of my time and get some serious advertising done; something I haven't had time to do due to my studies. Only problem is I have no idea where to start, at the moment I am on social network websites and one of my business is about video tutorials so is on YouTube. I really need some more ways of advertising my businesses!! I can print flyers, leaflets, business cards but I would be interested in some 'free' or cheaper ways of advertising. Resolved Question: Best Digital Photographic Printer?

(please excuse my ignorance) I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice towards which photographic printer I should buy. I am studying photography at college and need a high quality printer for my final photographs. Due to internet reviews it seems the clear choice is between canon or epson but I am unsure. I was also wondering if anyone knows if you are able to print your photographs with a small white border, as all of the printers advertise printing up to the edge of the paper. Resolved Question: I'm 16 and planning on starting my own business. Advice needed?

Hey everyone. I'm currently 16 and when i am older i want to run my own business. So recently i decided i might as well start now! Only a small thing though. Just to try and make some more money to put towards university or something i may need. I have Taken Media, ICT, Maths and Business studies. And i have the attitude needed to keep a business open. Although, because i am only young and still in school 4 days a week i was planning on starting small working on Ebay and Amazon. (All done with help of family members) Heres my idea. Due to the increase in size of people. Generally i mean. People need bigger clothes. And some people find it difficult to afford large clothes (XL+) As they are usually expensive. Which is where i see a gap in the market and would like to buy clothes (Males shirts XL up. Trousers 34" up) and then resale using online techniques. Like Ebay... So i need you, to give me links, names and just any company (Based in england) So that i can buy large clothes and sell. So someplace like a warehouse or holesaler. The whole idea of merchenting comes into to play here. This is simply to make a small business on Ebay (selling items) and my own website (As i can make the website myself and also advertise.) Which who knows. In the future my idea may become very successfull. You may find it hard to beleive i am 16 :) I currently have 1300pounds to work with. I been saving up. To summerise.... Resolved Question: what to do after these exams?

I am studying towards a Psychology degree but I'm not quite sure what I want to do afterwards. It's pretty hard to get work experience where I live but I am trying my best. It's just so hard to figure out what to do when you have so many options.
