Open Question: Good mp3 player on a budget?

I want at least 16+ gb, to be able to make playlist easily (I hated walkman's ONLY means of doing this), and not buggy. Previous experiences Ipod shuffle, nano 2GB/4GB ~ Frequent freezing until the battery died. ~ Every Ipod died in less than a year despite the fact I was extremely careful with them after my shuffle(fell in some water and fell on the ground 30+ times and it still lasted longer than the 2 nanos I bought). Walkman ~ Audio dying? (no not the phones the E series walkman lost the ability to play sound) ~ Interface constantly froze the buttons (s-series) ~ False advertising (a-series) Said that up to something songs could be kept on it but it held a little over half of that. I've heard some good things about sansa and creative zen. So any recommendations?I'd prefer not to go over $150. more

Open Question: What would you do if this was your mom? Would you be annoyed?

(of course I am not going to listen to her, I just think its funny). Could you please do me a favor and postpone your garage sale until another time? I have a lot to do this week and I really, really don't want to spend a whole morning in the heat at a garage sale before I go to work. I couldn't stay past 11:00, because I'd need to go home and clean up and get ready for work, and I STRONGLY think that Mark should be there if you're gonna have strangers come to your house. I know you didn't ask, but ... on the subject of garage sales, there's no bigger waste of time than a poorly planned garage sale. I've had one before and I've been to a bunch, so I know what they're like. People are mainly looking for big stuff like furniture and appliances that they can resell, and baby items are always popular. If u don't have those, very few people will come. The people who do come will come in carloads, and a lot will be people that you definitely wouldn't want at your house. They'll be trying to get something for nothing, and they'll ask you to lower your prices or try to get you to go inside and look for something else. (Someone did this at my garage sale.) DON'T go in and don't let anyone go in. People look for really big sales. Smaller ones are a waste of time. They can always go to Goodwill where the selection is bigger. Most people will look and not buy anything. A few will be scoping out the place to see if there's anything they can come back and steal later (like a purebred dog), or how easy it might be to break into your house. If you advertise the sale from 8 to 12, people will come at 7 and they'll keep coming long after you want them to. Unless you name big stuff in your ad that these people want, you may sit there in the heat all day and make $20 or $30. Or you may get swarms of people, and one will try to distract you while their kid or their friend wanders around to your back yard or steals something. Overall, a garage sale is a colossal waste of time, and you'll be mad at yourself later for selling something that you bought for $20 and once valued, for 50 cents. It's really better to just offer your unwanted stuff to family and friends, or give it to Goodwill (where you can take it off your income tax next year). If you really must have a garage sale, you should spend a weekend or two going to a few, so you can see what goes on and at least know how to price things. (You've got to be cheaper than Goodwill.) And you can expect to see Anna! That's what she does every weekend -- go to garage sales and try to find stuff she can take to her house and resell. In fact, you may see her (or someone like her) twice -- once early to get your "good" stuff, and later, to offer to haul off the rest for free, so she can resell it, too. Well, that's my 2 cents. The most important thing I wanted to convey is that Mark should be there if you're determined to have a sale. Couldn't you do it on Saturday and Sunday? I don't know much about getting a permit. Can you cancel it or change the date? If not, I will give you back whatever you paid for the permit. BTW, I did make $400 at my garage sale, but that was ONLY because I had a bunch of large furniture items. Most of the small stuff didn't sell. You can ask Trisha, but I think she only made between $100 and $200 at hers. Sorry to offer unsolicited advice, but I just hate to see you go to a lot of trouble for nothing. -- Love, MomϟLILIPOWϟ_{I want the money} " I like my mom Source(s): Sorry, I only read and write essays for a grade " That means you must be really smart. more

Open Question: Hi i recently asked a question about teaching PE and the best way into it. I am now looking into primary.?

I was first asking about getting into PE teaching. I have a Degree in Advertising and i understand that this is not relevant to the PE field. So i think my only choice is to wither gain as much experience as i can in secondary school PE, get a job as a TA, teach after school sports and get involved as much as possible, then apply for a PGCE (the fact that my degree is not in the relevant field means this will be hard to get onto). I have been contacting many universities and institutions about this problem and many have said look into primary school teaching. Male primary teachers are in massive demand at the moment so i was told it is a good route to take. They also said that as soon as you gain QTS if i still wanted to do be a PE teacher after a year of two of teaching primary i can try a transfer and just try to prove myself. I would love to teach primary school, i have a great personality and i am really good with kids. My sports background can also give me a massive help with getting me a job and making me valuable for a school. I only have a problem with my spelling and grammar...im not too confident with it and i feel this worries me a bit. Does anyone have this problem? is it even a problem because the level you teach is low and you get lesson plans that are made weekly so if i feel unsure then i can double check prior to the lesson. Its also things like writing on the white board and spelling something wrong, Sorry if i have gone on and not really go to the point...i am just stuck in a mundane office job i don't want to do (i only took the job because i went to university 3 years ago and got a degree in advertising so took this job to give it a crack...after only 2 months it really isn't for me at all). I was previously a personal trainer and loved the coaching, teaching, helping, and sports industry so i think that the teaching industry is perfect for me. i love helping and teaching, i have good personal skills and communications and love to get involved with helping children and coaching them life skills. If there is anything you can help me with, or just an input to let me know something, then please do so. I am open to feedback and comments. Many Thanks Adam Lawrence more

Resolved Question: What do you think of Feelings” about crime numbers?

“Feelings” about crime numbers El Universal (Mexico City) 6/21/10 [Editorial from El Universal:] The federal government has said on various occasions that the thousands of executions recorded every year in the country are mostly the product of fights among organized crime killers. How can they be so sure? In reality, they aren’t. They have investigated less than 5% of the assassinations occurring during this administration. To date, it is not known which of the executed victims may have really been innocent civilians sent to oblivion with the recurrent phrase: “it was a settling of accounts.” For all the money allotted to TV advertising and other displays, no government policy will gain highly sought popular support if there is no coherence. Even President Calderon has mentioned numbers about this issue without any documented reference. From February 2009 to date he has said that more than 90% of the homicides and executions related to organized crime belong to mafia members. He repeated this assertion just last April. The problem is that something as important as the re-named “struggle for security” ought not to be carried out under subjective criteria and personal perceptions. The cost in lives during an armed struggle increases when light diagnostics are carried out. It’s understood that the PGR (Department of Justice equiv.) may not have the capacity to thoroughly investigate the 22 thousand deaths associated with organized crime during this administration. One must assume, therefore, that the rest of the one thousand 200 previous investigations – more than 20 thousand – are in the hands of the state attorneys’ offices. Unfortunately, the situation in those agencies is the same or worse than in the PGR, not only because they refuse to get involved in crimes which – they say to justify themselves – are under federal jurisdiction, but because they lack the capacity for a serious, methodical and scientific investigation. Faced with that deficit, the first thing the federal government should be doing is to set the example. In order to obtain the backing of public opinion on this issue, and to have society see how necessary the “struggle for security” is, the federal government must begin with coherence. Instead of trying to convince people that the dead are insignificant because they’re hired killers, the President could show that at least matters of public relevance are really investigated in an objective fashion. The cases of the Tec students (making reference to a number of Monterrey Tech Institute students killed in a crossfire) and the murdered children – according to indications – at a military checkpoint in Tamaulipas were a perfect opportunity to show this coherence. By continuing to explain beforehand every execution as a “settling of accounts” among criminals a mantle of impunity is given to the aggressors and the credibility of the necessary fight against insecurity is eroded. —— Crimes go unreported Of the 12 million crimes committed annually in Mexico, only 1.5 million are reported due to the distrust of the judicial system, according to the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH). The lack of confidence is based on failure of the judges to give jail sentences, evidenced by the fact that the number of inmates in the prison system has not increased in the past five years. more

Open Question: Mexican Drug Cartel Warns Police Officers in Arizona Border Town to 'Look the Other Way' What say you ?

Police officers in a small Arizona border city are on heightened alert following a tip that a Mexican drug cartel will put them in its crosshairs if they conduct off-duty busts. The threat stems from a marijuana seizure made this month by two off-duty police officers riding on horseback in an unincorporated area east of Nogales, a city of roughly 20,000, Police Chief Jeffrey Kirkham told FoxNews.com. "The word was that these particular officers would be targeted if they were ever in that area again and were not on duty and intercepted any drug trafficking," Kirkham said. "It said they should look the other way." The unidentified officers were able to confiscate roughly 400 pounds of marijuana during the seizure in early June at a known smuggling corridor along the U.S.-Mexican border where there is "relatively no fencing," Kirkham said. No arrests were made, and the smugglers were able to retreat into Mexico. Kirkham said his department, which employs 62 officers, learned about the threat through informants and has been unable to determine which Mexican drug cartel is behind it. Kirkham noted that two drug trafficking organizations -- the Los Zetas and the Sinaloa Cartel -- are currently trying to gain a foothold in the Nogales area. "Which one, we can't establish," he said. "They're not ones to advertise who's behind this. It's difficult to establish." In response to the threat, Kirkham said everyone in the department was advised to be armed while off-duty. Officials at the Drug Enforcement Agency and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also were notified, he said. "We let them know that if they are to go out there, they are to be armed," Kirkham said. George Grayson, a professor at The College of William & Mary who specializes in Mexican politics and international affairs, said the threat likely came from the Sinaloa Cartel, which is headed by Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman-Loera, who is being sought by American and Mexican authorities. The U.S. State Department is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to his arrest. "This is quite credible that the cartels would threaten police officers, on-duty or off-duty," Grayson told FoxNews.com. "They, in fact, are more likely to threaten local police than to go after the [Drug Enforcement Agency] or FBI, which really raises hackles in Washington when you have your federal law enforcement agents threatened." The Los Zetas criminal organization -- a rival of the Sinaloa Cartel -- had previously operated in the Nogales area, Grayson said, but the area is now probably controlled by "El Chapo," which is Spanish for "shorty." Grayson said Sinaloa is believed to be one of the biggest suppliers of cocaine to the United States, and its members are known to be well-trained and well-armed. "These officers should get medals for bravery, either on- or off-duty, because I doubt they have the firepower these cartels have," he said. "It's logical that as there are episodes involving U.S. law enforcement [with Mexican cartels], that the threats against American police officers at various levels will also increase."http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/06/22/mexican-cartel-threatens-target-officers-arizona-border-town/ more

Open Question: Are you guys who think the Danielson release is a work joking or just that gullible to what others say?

I mean come on a good bit of you users on here still think the Danielson release is a work even though promotions that have no working relationship with WWE what so ever already have him booked at their upcoming shows. Take Chikara for instance: http://www.chikarapro.com/ they have him advertised for this friday yet you will ignore facts like that and still think its a work. Oh but then you say what about the 90 day no compete clause. Well look at Scotty Goldman aka Colt Cabana he was released on february 20th 2009 from WWE: http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/goldmanreleased But worked a show for PWG the next night: http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com/results/2009/show0098.html he wrestled against Chris hero and if you cant see the date look under the Pic for the DVD cover of that show. He wrestled the next day on February 21st 2009 That goes to show you that the 90 day no compete clause doesn't cover anything, it only does that for TV deals and PPVs. These wrestlers still need to find a way to make income within those 90 days sometimes so they can take bookings from other promotions just not with anything involving a TV deal. So even though Danielson is being advertised for other promotions with no real connections to WWE, and I shown facts that the 90 day no compete clause doesn't cover everything. Please if you still think this is release is a work please explain your ignorant to the facts thought process on how this is a work. Oh also to people who might say why they talked about him on RAW after his release well he was involved in a major angle visibly so they had to make some kind of explanation to why hes gone. And also the whole WWE asking if the release was wrong on twitter was them second guessing themselves. This isn't the first time WWE has might have had second thoughts on releasing someone they did re hire matt hardy back after a big movement from his fans to get him re signed. So this release is real and if Danielson is back it will be because WWE will re hire him not because he was never released in the first place. So just please either stop being ignorant to the facts and admit it was real or find some real facts to this release being a work instead of stupid internet rumor mill speculation and explain them to me.I can understand the speculation that it could of been a work last week when it first happened because there has been other instances where people got choked out on WWE post benoit incident and they didn't get fired, so it did seem like a very moronic reason. But now that other promotions have him booked its a true release. If they truly allowed third party booking why wasn't Rey mysterio allowed to go to AAA not long ago just to present a trophy to a tournament winner,(though this is rumor completely not actual fact so good chance its not true) But if this is true why would WWE be so stingy not to let Rey just appear but let Danielson actually wrestle. But really other than Carltio and Primo for WWC(a promotion that is run by his dad) and letting CM Punk and Danielson finish up their previous indy bookings before they came to WWE after they signed back in 2004 and last year, there hasn't been third party bookings for years. They are stingy that way plus WWE just went through a website overhaul that might explain why its not on corporate. To behold the king when you talk about how a person who has been released can't work anywhere due to the 90 day no compete clause yet its happened before that is being a "dumb@ss". But more facts point to legit way more than it does to ruse or work or whatever word you would like to use. And you know what if this is really a ruse then in turn and everyone else who thought it was legit will be a "dumb@ss". And I have no problem with that I just don't see how people can still think work with all this evidence and deny loopholes like the 90 day no compete clause. To RKO lady(you just got RKO and hearts I dont feel like copy and pasting so this is your nickname to me if thats okay) The reason why I have doubts about the corporate website is for the fact that it doesn't seem like it has been up dated since june the 7th days before danielon's release. Despite Danielson being released or not, im sure things other than the danielson release have happened with WWE financially at least to warrant an update but hasn't. Also thats the website, they send in actual reports to the security and exchange commission still so they don't have to put everything down there right away. So who knows like I said they could be second guessing the Danielson release and not want to put anything on the site at least until they make sure they don't want hire him back.To RKO lady I just checked all the news for 2010 and actually the only release they show when you go to the news tab up at the top for 2010 is carltio's I don't see a mention about Mickie, Shelton, Knox or anyone else has been released. So its not just Danielson. I think why carlito is there though is his release had something to deal with rehab and the wellness policy.Ive never saw the reason WWE gave out as a legitimate way to release that doesn't mean the release wasn't legit just the reasoning behind it. Mickie james was released because she showed up late to the bus or that was the supposed reasoning. Plus Danielson isn't the only one who has choked out someone on WWE TV post benoit incident. I think the reason the gave out for him being released was moronic and hypocritical of what they have shown in the past. But just like with mickie james being late for the bus or Danielson choking someone out the release is legit just WWE doesn't want to say why they did. Also another example Lance Cade was released in 2008 but WWE itself never gave a reason the only from JR's blog talking about an "incident" on a plane was the only speculation behind that and lots of people think it was a drug related problem but WWE never made mention other than Lance cade future endeavors. So if mickie or shelton isnt or cade isn't same can go with danielson. more

Voting Question: How can I get a digital copy of my movie?

Today, I purchased the Blu-Ray of "Seven Pounds." It had a digital copy with it, on a separate disc. It contained a slip of paper, with a redeemable code on it. I put the digital copy disc into my Mac and opened up iTunes. It came up with the screen to enter a code. I entered my code, correctly, might I add, and it said that the time to redeem this code has expired. I was promised a digital copy with my purchase, as it was advertised on the front of the cover. The movie was sitting on the shelf in the store for months, and it expired. I'm rather disappointed that I am unable to get it, due to that fact. If it had been sitting on my own, personal shelf, neglected, and had expired, I could completely understand. But this is ridiculous. I feel this was almost a "false-advertisement." Does anyone have any ideas? more

Resolved Question: music nowadays sucks, because MANY young people music taste nowadays sucks?

and before I go any further, I just want to clarify that I'm born in 1982 (which makes me still of today's young/Gen Y generation,...not some typical 'old-gen-hates-new-gen' cliched story). I know that this has been said over & over again that it's almost a cliche, but seriously, as a big music lover and a musician myself, I feel really really sad & angry for the current state of *MAINSTREAM* music nowadays (note: i am not saying ALL, just those big MAJOR hits that's played in radio & MTV nowadays), that everytime I turn on the radio or MTV or V channel nowadays, it's like I just want to destroy my radio & TV forever, because I can't stand how music nowadays just basically feels very 'dry', lack emotions, very shallow lyrics and theme, and the same boring **** repeated from artist to artist. this alone is already sad. but what makes me even sadder, is of how there are still MANY many people (particularly teens, I notice) that said of how this & this major artist have a TALENT, and a HUGE one!......uhh, no it's not. it's sadly just a "clever marketing & advertising strategy" coupled with being "commercial" & having all about pretty looks & body (and showing cleavage & boobs for female). what happened to the great, very emotional, and actually INNOVATIVE music, and I'm talking about MAINSTREAM music, such as: - Beatles : Eleanor Rigby (still damn genius song, IMO) - Carpenters' heartfelt emotional songs & *meaningful* lyrics that you CAN actually relate, such as Yesterday Once More, Rainbow Connection, Leave Yesterday Behind - Queen : Show Must Go On (I literally shiver everytime I hear this, even still now!) and many many other good *MAINSTREAM* music?? - and in the rock realm itself, all those REAL-innovative (not the misinterpred "fake innovative") rock music such as Led Zeppelin's Kashmir, Guns N Roses' kick-ass ending in song November Rain, Deep Purple's Sweet Child in Time, Burn, etc - even funky, soul music such as in the movie Sister Act (just watched it yesterday) were still DAMN GOOD compared to the crappy repetitive r&b and sh*tty blink-blink shallow hip-hop music nowadays! (that again, misplacedly labeled as "talented"! uggghh!) instead, nowadays for the *MAINSTREAM* music played in radio and TV, and labeled as "talented, gorgeous" by these young teens, we got Lady Gaga feat Beyonce with mediocre, 'dry' music, then showing all their body and by repeating meaningless "e e e e e e e" phrases and lack heartfelt LYRICS! .....and don't even get me started on talking about Ke$$$$hhhhaa & Bieberrr! I mean seriously,..as cliche & overly-repeated question this certainly is, but I'm there's a REAL POINT in people asking this question: what the hell is wrong with music nowadays? and where is it heading? and thus my main question: is it *only* music nowadays that sucks,..or is it because today's MAINSTREAM young teens & people are part to blame, because there're still a LOT lot of them, fact of the matter, still like it, even label them as "talented" ??? and a BIG kudos will be added, if you can actually tell me, how to change this hopeless situation we're in? thanks, and please forgive my frustration! PS: again I'm not saying ALL music today sucks. it's the major, MAINSTREAM music that's currently "popular" and played over & over again in music & radio, that so many people nowadays sadly still think they're "talented", and that's WHY they're POPULAR/famous! ouch, big one! more

Resolved Question: Is it legal to advertise taste test results?

I have a coffee shop specializing in specialty coffees, i held a blind taste test vs. starbucks and our coffee was picked 5-1 Would it be libelous to post these findings on a banner or advertisement along with the fact that our coffee is cheaper? I wouldn't want to use their name specifically (and let me know if this would be even worse) I was thinking about fashioning a green/white circular logo that obviously hints towards Starbucks next to our findings. Is this illegal in anyway? I understand it can still be libel if it is true but technically, to me, the findings do not seem malicious or defamatory but more like a statement of fact/findings. I appreciate your answers in advance!http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/biz/archives/2005/02/26/2003224678 "US firm takes on E-Coffee over its 'misleading' logo" more

Resolved Question: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly of SOO?

QLD: The Good - Qld team in general, massive effort by David Shillington (much respect from a NSW fan) The Bad - Nate Myles being concussed, which is a loss for QLD The Ugly - 1) they acted like animals every time a NSW player would tackle them, which would lead to scuffles. 2) Sam Thaiday. A great player but every time a fight broke out he'd come in and make it worse. I'm no racist but he's not helping the cause against how aborigines are stereotyped. A few of them acted like it was them against a NSW white supremacy side. 3) They pretty much advertised Folau for the AFL. The AFL chief would have been rubbin his hands together with dollar signs in his eyes. Yes QLD won but rugby league lost by letting him play. NSW: The Good: Cooper made more tackles than most the forwards and Barrett in my opinion played well. It was good to see Gallen in there bringin back the biff, best on field if you ask me. The Bad: The team as a whole. In particular their captain & monaghan. The Ugly: 1) The tackle from Luke O'Donnell but good on him for punching on when he was mobbed. 2) The build up week for NSW involving that attention seeking dog Tahu who decides to discuss the issue with the media as opposed to sorting it out privately with his supposed friend Johns and supposed friend in his NSW captain 3) The irony in the fact that Inglis scored a try where Tahu should have been as his replacement rushed out of the line and got owned. Whats your Good, Bad & Ugly points of the night?Edit: Pansie, your name says it all!Edit: @ all you QLD supporters - I thought my question put QLD on a pedastool, but obviously I thought wrong. Or maybe half you toothless hillbillies wouldn't recognise a compliment as you're probably not use to getting any. Barrett a niggler you say! Like I said, I don't agree with O'Donnells tackle but at least he got up when mobbed by half the QLD side, and guess who was in there first, your precious chain smoking Lockyer to have a go then back off. Guess it's true what they, QLDers are sore winners too. Oh and Inga, I think your obsession with Knights 10 is far worse than his with Gidley, looks like you've made another enemy biatch. more

Resolved Question: Did anyone catch the article on Yahoo front page on the theory of evolution?

My mom mentioned that she saw an article on the Yahoo front page this morning about a change in the theory of evolution. I've spent about fifteen minutes searching through the front page and running Yahoo web searches trying to find said article, but to no avail. The closest thing that I have found was in fact on the Yahoo front page, and it was an article called New Theory for Life's First Energy Source ( http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20100612/sc_livescience/newtheoryforlifesfirstenergysource ). However, my mom insists that the article she saw was written on a change in the theory of evolution. I ran a 'control-f' find search on the page of that article, and the only time the word "evolution" was mentioned was at the bottom, advertising LiveScience.com. So, back to the question: Did anyone see an article on the Yahoo front page regarding a change in the theory of evolution? Thank you in advance!Scott Evil: I know that evolution doesn't deal with those things c[: Me and my mom just got into a debate of sorts about the whole "the Bible hasn't changed" versus "science is always updating" thing. I wanted to see where she was coming from, because the article apparently sparked this thought. more

Voting Question: what does libra man mean?

I am confused. I have been dating a Libra man I met at the end of January, 2010. We talk daily, but over the past few months, have gone out less often since he is extremely busy. Granted, I know we make time for things that are important to us, but considering that he lives an hour away; is a single parent; has a corporate job plus a part-time position as a contractor that requires him to work unGodly weekend hours from late evenings til 4 or 5 A.M.; AND manages 4 rental properties he owns, not to mention assumes responsibility for his 6 adult sisters since both his parents died-I tend to understand he IS busy. My question is this: Lately, he has made statements that kinda have me confused. For instance, today he said, "Babe, I have no doubt that you would make a hell of a wife." I teased him about using him as a reference on a t-shirt for me advertise for a husband and he said, "I know for a fact you'll be married within the next 2 years". He's made this statement about me "being married within the next 2 years" on several occassions, and I tend to downplay it and not ask him to elaborate on why he thinks so. But today, my response was a causal, " oh, you think so? I was thinking I'd be one of those women who marries for the first time at age 60 or so!" He responded by stating he was sure I'd be married within the next 2 years-as if he was trying to hint that he has plans for me. Any LIBRAS (males especially) who can give me some insight on this? more

Open Question: Why is the loony left now trying to ban "discrimination" based on beauty and/or the lack thereof?

http://www.inthesetimes.com/working/entry/6090/the_beauty_bias_at_work_and_what_should_be_done_about_it/ Don't we have enough "anti-discrimination" laws already? This article I linked to laments the fact that employers prefer to hire employers who are attractive looking and that they "discriminate" against people who are unattractive, including "overweight" people (last I checked, being overweight is an unhealthy lifestyle choice and everybody has the ability to simply reduce their consumption of calories). Fortunately, we haven't yet reached the level of absurdity that Britain has. It is illegal in Britain to advertise for "reliable workers" as that "discriminates" against the unreliable (see: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/7079231/Advert-for-reliable-workers-banned-as-discrimination-by-Jobcentre-Plus.html ). Instead of a future in which everybody, no matter how ugly or incompetent, is guaranteed an "equal opportunity" to obtain every job, how about getting rid of these ridiculous "anti-discrimination" laws and trying something called freedom of association and private property rights instead? more

Resolved Question: Why are people against smoking Marijuana?

I myself have smoked before, however I have not touched weed in about 6 months give or take. When I smoked I would go from a week long binge to having a dry spell for a couple of weeks. I smoked for a total of about 2 years and I never had any issues with my responsibilities, like school for example. I actually kept a 3.6 GPA and I never tried any other drugs except drinking. So, personally I find no issues with marijuana unlike what many people will tell you (It makes you stupid. It leads to harder drugs. It takes over your life. It's addictive.). Now I will rant. Ok, so I know it's addictive. I'm not going to deny that. However, it's certainly less addictive than something like cocaine or even caffeine. And yes, caffeine will cause withdrawal symptoms not unlike nicotine withdrawal. While marijuana can cause psychological dependence, marijuana does NOT have any physical withdrawal symptoms. I had absolutely no issue when I quit, and I only wanted to smoke for about the first week. After the first week I have no longer felt any desire to smoke up, except for the fact that I occasionally just want to wind down and enjoy myself on a joint. Now, the government has a completely legalized industry for alcohol, which by the way messes you up MUCH more than marijuana. And I know that you people who have never tried marijuana often find this very difficult to believe, but just ask your self this. Have you ever seen somebody get so high that they were too dizzy to stand up and walk straight? Have you ever seen somebody smoke up and then puke their guts out all night from weed poisoning? No and no. marijuana will simply chill somebody out or get their heart racing. It depends on the strain, but in either case, nobody is overdosing or seeing double. That's saved for the completely legal alcoholic drinks that are advertised all over the television. Also, marijuana has never killed anyone. And I mean anyone. Of course, you can say that people will get into their cars and crash, but have you ever thought of how people get into their cars and crash all of the time, while they're completely sober? Besides, there are studies that have shown marijuana usually makes somebody a more cautious driver and getting high is equal to about a .05 BAC (.08 is the legal limit for alcohol). Now, I'm sure that some mom is going to come on here and talk about how because of weed their kid does heroin or whatever. I don't know how this myth got started, but I believe the number is something like only 1 out of every 30-40 people who have tried marijuana will go on to use any other illegal substance. And from my own experience, the only people who actually went on to use heroin or coke actually talked about that BEFORE they ever tried marijuana. No joke. Most people understand the consequences of hard drugs and see what it can do to a person's life, and so they stay away. It's that simple. I think that my favorite myth is that marijuana makes you stupid. Right. How about you go tell that to my formerly A.P. student friends (now off to college) which would get SAT scores up in the 2000s. Yea if that isn't proof enough right there, here's something else for you. Marijuana has not been proven to kill any brain cells. In fact, studies have shown that it actually STIMULATES brain cell growth. I **** you not. It only takes a quick Google search. Now when people say that marjuana will take over your life, I believe that they must be referring to the far and in between cases where people actually did let marijuana take over their life. What those same people don't realize though is that they probably know loads of people that smoke weed, or have smoked weed, but that never let it take over their life. The thing is though is that you will never hear about it because that's just not something you would talk about with a co-worker or a neighbor. Most functioning people can handle smoking a little bit of marijuana once in a while, the SAME WAY people can have a beer or a glass of wine every once in a while. Now, my final point, which is probably my most important is, what has a marijuana user ever done to you? Nothing, that's what. And it's because somebody who smokes weed is not going to need it like somebody who snorts coke. It's just not in any way addictive like that. Nobody is going to mug somebody else because they're killing for a nickle ($5 dollars worth of weed). However, you probably could get mugged by somebody because they need their fix of crack. In my eyes, people who reject marijuana users are just plain tools that they think they have a duty to protect a society that knows more than them. If you people want my advice, go educate yourself and stop letting yourself be influenced by all of that propaganda you thought was the truth. You really said health concerns? Really? Obviously completely ignored my post. And yea I'm sure it way to painful for you to try and read something about a plant that is in the process of getting LEGALIZED. Prick.Oh and I don't care if you don't feel like reading my super-post just so long as you don't say something as stupid as "health concerns?"to Kris, I don't know what that guy was smoking, but it wasn't weed, I can tell you that. Not even mushies would made you suddenly come down to find yourself surrounded by guns. Sounds more like he was smoking some wet, which is weed dipped in PCP. more

Resolved Question: Do you wish Verizon would just send you the money they spent on advertising?

In fact, I would be happy with half the money they have spent on advertising FIOS. Hardly a day goes by that I don't get a mailing at home as well as at the office. I figure they must have spent at least $200-300 on trying to get me to switch in the past couple of years. Multipy that times a few million... more

Voting Question: How do I tell my sister that this guy is risky business?

She moved in with him after only knowing him for 2 days. I am anxious because she found him on Craig's list and he was advertising for a female to live with him rent free. He needs someone to clean his place while he is at work. I don't trust him, in fact, I wanna **ll him. (sorry) She is my only sister and all I have. She was evicted and was with me at my place for a week. She don't have to go somewhere else. She is safe with me, and he could be a murderer for all I know. I am not the type of lady to look the other way, when it comes to family, I do not BS around. I will go to prison if he hurts her. She don't fully understand my philosophy of "Do not f**k with my family." I try not to have an aggressive approach, but that's just me being myself. I love her and worry about her well being. Help me not to go f**k this guy up. Much love, God Bless. more

Voting Question: Wanting a hamster? -20charrrrr-?

I love owning hamsters, my last one died of a unknown causes (middle of the night). The one before died from old age and malocclusion. But the thing is, these were both dwarfs. One was a Robo, and the other some sort of dwarf that I don't remember. I've been hankering for a Syrian lately. The problem stems from the fact that I got a pair of rats about a month ago. In total, at my mom's house, I have 5 pets- a cat, 2 guinea pigs, and 2 rats. A hamster wouldn't be a big addition, since my mom has NEVER had to even MENTION to me to clean it's cage, I always handled them and gave them wonderful care on my own. I cruised around Craigslist today, and guess what I find? An ad advertising a Syrian, cage and everything, at a price I can afford. How should I present this to my mom?Yeah you're funny :/ more

Resolved Question: How are so many low class people becoming so rich?

FYI: I live in India. Please Note: I am neither Racist nor Casteist. But I am person with several genuine problems and absolute bewilderment. I am website designer, and I have extremely good communication skills. I rate myself as a very good at civic sense and social manner awareness. I am trying to run my small family (4, including myself) with the earnings out of my shoestring business. I am always polite to my clients, I make sure they are comfortable with every technical aspect of their website, I make sure the site is Standards Compliant for the client's sake, despite them not even knowing what W3C Standards are. I try to keep my prices as comfortable as possible, and relatively low. Yes, I am somewhat more expensive than the general market, but the cost of having an unruly, brutal joke of a messy website "design" is more than the price of owning a good website. Also, I never spit on the road, refuse to relieve myself on the pavements like so many other people do despite desperate urgency, always say "excuse me" before I do anything remotely assertive. I respect women, pay my taxes on time. Despite all this, I barely manage to scrape by, financially speaking. I am usually at the mercy of my landlord, and begging all the people I owe money to, to wait "just a few more days". Then, I get a small respite in the form of a new client or two, and I am forced to spend all the money on my commitments. This basically leaves no chance for me to improve upon my life, or the conditions therein. I am always stuck in this vicious cycle of debt and repayment. Add to my woes is the fact that we as a family have no source of support from our relatives, and hence zero investment capability; I can't even afford to advertise my services in the local newspaper classifieds. I am forced to rely on the poorly maintained and extremely unreliable public transport system, since I don't have a vehicle. Yet, I do try to work hard, against all odds. CONTRAST THIS WITH THE FOLLOWING: All I have to do is to take a short walk onto the main road, and I see multiple swanky cars on the road. In a majority of these expensive vehicles, there are people who are unruly, wear arrogant looks on their faces, and drive like shit. A lot of them don't look educated (you can tell the difference, though it sounds preposterous). They don't hesitate to pull down the window and spit copious paan onto the roads. They don't hesitate to open up their fly and start spewing on to the footpath, even in the presence of women on the road. They wear large chunky jewellery on their sweaty unhygienic bodies (trying to demonstrate their wealth), but display the social sense of a bacterium. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! How is this happening? Will I ever succeed in life? Will I ever overtake these creatures? And pray tell me HOW _SO MANY_ of them are ending up so RICH! This is not a rare phenomenon anymore... so my curiosity... more

Resolved Question: Why do you people believe in everything on television?

I am talking about the majority of people not all. I have done a research project on this subject in college because this is a huge issue. Television is ran by 6 major companies. They will not allow anything to show on television without there approval. They are the face of what educates peoples minds and imaginations. T.V shows such as DR. Phill, Tyra Banks all away to Family Guy and all that other bull shit shows only breed future pedophiles, child molesters, criminals and depressed individuals in the future (not all). They show kids wearing make up and mini skirts, kids cussing and talking about sex, advertising speeding on a fast car when its illegal, majority of the shows on television is white people, all the black people shows make them look like bad people, almost every girl is almost naked, ect... List goes on and on. I wonder why some of you people take television too far like its reality when in fact its not and its only hurting your imagination and thought process. I would like to hear from you. When I say breeding future pedo's it may sound far fetched to the average joe, but when you train a kids eyes and mind from a child to an adult its hard to teach them out of it. You can see many criminals that get locked up say there role models were people on movies (scare face, ect) or there favorite game was call of duty, or pedo's saying they cant resist the way kids are because maybe that pedo never grew up. Your not a pedo if your the same age as that person..I knew I would come across some ignorant people on here. People with ignorant answers are the victims to this as well. I am only here to spread awareness and see the minds of you victims as well. more

Resolved Question: New car insurance bumper sticker?

I recently switched insurance providers, and got my proof of insurance info in the mail today. Along with my card and everything I got a bumper sticker that has nothing but the company's name on it. A note was attached that said I have to put it on my car as a proof of payment. I'd really rather not turn my car into a billboard if I don't have to. Resolved Question: House Buying - tips for getting the price down?

Me and my partner have seen a lovely property with great potential. However, upon the 2nd visit it was apparent that the land which was clearly advertised online, in the breakdown handed to us by the estate agent and verbally expressed to us by her was significantly less than what was said (it said an acre, whereas it is probably half of that). The house is completely delapidated, would need extensive work just to live in - is not on green belt land and - according to the agent - has had it's price reduced by 25k recently not due to the land but the fact noone was interested. My Q is - do you think we are in a position to negotiate given the misrepresentation of the advert? And if so, how do I go about handing in a lower price? I have no experience of this - and will obviously get a valuer in to price it accordingly but any guidance will help significantly. more

Resolved Question: I want facebook baned , do you agree?

I want facebook band, do you agree? Facebook needs to be band. POLICE want Facebook to ban under-18s from setting up tribute websites after launching the first prosecution of its kind of a Brisbane man accused of posting pornography on online memorials to murdered children. Disability pensioner Bradley Paul Hampson, 29, faces up to 10 years' jail if convicted of offences relating to the defacement of Facebook memorials for Trinity Bates, 8, and Elliot Fletcher, 12, who died in separate incidents in Queensland earlier this year. The Australian Federal Police are now negotiating with the social networking giant to prevent future acts of cyber-vandalism by so-called internet "trolls", who post offensive material to provoke outrage. Detective Superintendent Peter Crawford, of the Child Safety and Sexual Crimes Group of Queensland police, said adults should be required to act as administrators of memorials so they could be held liable for monitoring content. The AFP has, in an effort to improve accountability, raised with Facebook the possibility of banning under-18s from setting up such sites. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. .End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar. Superintendent Crawford said website administrators - and not just Facebook - needed to act quickly to remove offensive material. "I think the trolling issue will continue to be a problem in the future," he said. "We are really keen to see people who administer those sites take responsibility to ensure that material posted is of an appropriate standard." Superintendent Crawford revealed that Queensland police had been forced to liaise with Facebook executives in San Francisco. While the organisation has a well-staffed advertising office in Australia, its local representatives insist they are not responsible for content. "We have to make inquiries overseas for all our Facebook inquiries," he said. Superintendent Crawford said the fact that children and teenagers sometimes set up tribute pages "presents some problems". "These are the issues we're endeavouring to discuss with Facebook," he said. "I would rather be using (police) resources to target actual sexual offences that are being committed today, than chasing down trolls." Mr Hampson, 29, of Tarragindi, was remanded in custody after appearing in Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday on five charges relating to possessing and distributing child exploitation material. Magistrate Leanne O'Shea refused bail. The police prosecutor, Sergeant Fiona Pedersen, told the court that police had raided Mr Hampson's home early yesterday and found pornographic images on his computer. "He would appear to have some morbid fascination with deceased children and has expressed fantasies in those regards," she said. Mr Hampson's legal aid lawyer, Katia Vandenbroucke, told the court her client had been diagnosed with autism. Facebook said yesterday it had co-operated fully with the police. 5 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer. more

Resolved Question: Quitting my Job to start my business?

Need some advice, here is the situation: My husband has a very successful business he is a painting contractor and has been for 15 years. The only problem is we have a VERY hard time finding responsible, dedicated hard working employees. So he has been doing the jobs on his own for several years and has gotten so busy that he has to refer his clients to someone else. We have just currently started another business that is going very well, in fact, it is starting to get a little overwhelming being that we are so busy with both businesses...the thing is we don't advertise!! wait until we do. (We started another businesses so my husband can slow up on the painting) The concern I have is I work full time shift work as a QC technician and I am thinking of leaving my job to help with both the businesses. I just really hate to give up a job that I have worked 10 years at, I get benefits and a pension. Has anyone been in this kind of situation and did you regret the decision?I am canadian. If anyone knows of any grants out there that can help us get started with our new business please pass it along. more

Resolved Question: Am I really a terrible person for thinking about this?

I've been the owner of just about every animal you can think of especially cats, but never had a dog before. My neighborhood isnt a terrible place, but my cat Charlie (he was a Maine Coon), I had to put him in the garage because I put flea medication on him and he isnt suppose to be in contact with furniture for thirty minutes, my sister and her boyfriend were suppose to be gone for the weekend but came home around 9 pm when Charlie was in the garage. They didnt know he was in there and unlocked the side door to get inside and he was scared of her boyfriend and darted off. He hasnt come back and it's been almost a week and a half now, I tried every single animal facility possible to advertise him, but the vet and animal control said he is probably dead. I feel really irresponsible, because I dedicate my life to animals everyday, and Charlie was a cat I found at animal control who someone spit gum all over his fur, and I decided to take him in and I made him look so beautiful. It hurts alot to know the fact he is gone now, and I thought that maybe an animal that is able to climb the fence when he escapes the side door of the garage wasnt a good idea. I was thinking about adopting a dog, someone had this Collie(not border collie, the lassie dog), and he seems really even tempered and nice. Do you think dogs might be a better choice? more

Resolved Question: HELP! I need lots of Pros and Cons of Advertising?

HELP! I'm doing a debate and I was put on a team supporting the ban of ads on television. I need some hard facts and killer points to win this debate!! Also, if you could give me some points on how to attack them back/defend myself i'd totally appreciate that too! Some things i've thought of: cons: ads waste time and electricity, decreased self esteem, provokes you to lose money.. pros: notify you of events (how am i suppose to attack this one?!?), charities, assistance, shows you options... THANKS IN ADVANCE :)ohh.. yeah i made a mistake. I'm against public announcements on television. ALL of them. I know: It sucks. But thnks for the help. :) more

Resolved Question: rap is not rap no more?

Rap is not music. It is people talking loudly to a repetative beat. Rappers usually have no talent, and that is not an opinion that is a fact. consider this: -Rappers usually buy beats from older rappers, or play them on cheesey keyboards. -they do not play instruments -they don't come up with a melody so basically all they are are poets, poets with terrible taste in lyrics. They are mostly sellouts, in that they advertise many products on tv, When rap was about the ghettos, it was much better. It was a way for poor intercity people to express their broken dreams and poverty/danger rittled life. now it's become about all the negative aspects, like money and hoes. they don't realize that money isn't everything, and hoes are just in existance for straight people who cannot get layed. The only good rappers (i can stand is 2pac,Bone Thugs,NWA and other old school rappers and T.I. more

Resolved Question: Should Christians change their name?

The term in Acts 17:28 on the lips of King Agrippa, an unbeliever: "Then Agrippa said to Paul, 'Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?'" (NIV). It is also found in 1 Peter 4:16: "However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name" (NIV). This text indicates that early believers in Christ suffered persecution as "Christians." In fact, in 1 Peter being a "Christian" seems almost synonymous with suffering (1:6,7; 2:12,19-23; 3:9-17; 4:1,12-19; 5:9). This thought lead to another text that uses the term "Christian." It appears in Acts 11:27, where we read that "The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch" (NIV). This key text tells us two things about the Christians. First, "Christian" was not so much a name that they chose as a name that was applied to them (they "were called Christians"). This is consistent with a term placed upon them by hostile critics. Second, it was a term that was placed on "the disciples." Perhaps a New York advertising firm could be hired to develop a new name for the believers in Jesus Christ as the only begotten savior? What did early Christians like to call themselves if it wasn't Christians? more

Voting Question: Seen UK top 5 broadband rip-offs? & how best to deal with 'em? What do you think is the best deal? How 2 beat?

I put this in Politics as Govt promise to roll out superfast broadband Is there a corrupt angle? UK's top broadband rip-offs, together with a few ideas on how you can combat them. 1) Super-fast broadband You might think super-fast broadband sounds amazing. Lightning-fast deals via next-generation fibre technology allow you to surf the net at more than 5 times the usual speed (50Mb). Unfortunately, however, super-fast broadband generally comes with a much higher price tag than packages with standard connection speeds. And I think, at £40 a month, providers are ripping us off - especially when you take into account a 8Mb package with a 10GB usage limit can cost less than £6 a month. The fact is, unless you need faster speeds for things like watching internet TV or downloading HD movies regularly, these packages probably have far greater capability than you really need. If you're not a heavy user, paying the higher monthly cost is a waste of money, frankly. 2) Restrictions on download limits Many broadband providers boast of unlimited download limits, only to accompany these bold statements with a little asterisk which, on closer inspection directs you to a fair use policy that restricts the amount you can actually download. Fair use policies are often a get out of jail free card for providers which advertise unlimited download limits, only to impose penalties or other restrictions if you exceed a certain threshold. And, to make things even more complicated, finding out about your own download habits can sometimes feel like trying to break into Fort Knox. For example, when I called my own provider to ask them about my usage, I was only told that I ‘need not worry'. This ambiguous phrasing may make little difference in my case, but in some circumstances you'll only realise you've exceeded your fair usage limit when you get a warning from your provider – or worse, when a hefty bill lands on your doormat. If you want to gauge your surfing habits, this data usage calculator from Virgin is a nifty tool which will give you an idea of your own monthly usage, which you can then use to get the best plan for you. Alternatively, providers Be and O2 offer super-fast broadband with truly unlimited download limits. 3) Broadband without a landline. If you move into a property without a BT landline in place, it will cost you £124.99 to connect yourself to the outside world, plus £10.50 a month in line rental, unless you commit to an 18-month contract. If you don't fancy forking out all this just to get connected, one alternative is Virgin media which, providing you live in a cabled area, will connect you without the need for a BT line (£30 connection fee applies). In addition, some providers such as Tiscali make use of local loop unbundling (LLU) to bypass BT and offer inclusive line rental. LLU enables ‘local loops' (or put simply, the cable through which you receive your broadband) to be freed up so other providers can design their own broadband packages to provide alternative, and often cheaper services. The third way you can get connected to the internet without the need for a BT landline is via a dongle . Dongles provide a convenient way of getting online, though from experience provide much slower download speeds than conventional broadband. Check out my latest article on dongles . 4) Tag on the line This is one of the sneakiest ways broadband providers can stop you from switching easily. They put what's known as a 'tag' on your line, which is difficult to remove. When you run into trouble, they often point the finger at your landline provider, who then points the finger back at the broadband provider, and so on. What many people don't realise is that you have to talk to the provider you want to switch to and ask them to remove it. Luckily, Broadband Choices offers a handy list of numbers on its website to contact with regards to having a tag on your line. 5) Long contract terms Last but not least, contract lengths for broadband, and indeed your mobile phone are slowly creeping up, and these days you'll often have to sign an 18 and sometimes a 24 month contract in order to secure the best deals. However, there is light at the end of the broadband tunnel, and if you don't want to be tied into a lengthy contract, you could always opt for a provider which doesn't impose one. For example, you can now get one-month only contracts from providers like Plusnet and Zen, which enable you to switch at any time. Obviously, your broadband service is unlikely to be 100% perfect, 100% of the time, but hopefully these small tips will help you on your way to a smoother surfing experience. Resolved Question: I need some serious professional advice in my studio photography career?

Since my beautiful baby girl has been born, I haven't found a job that can actually support me working AND paying for a babysitter. I've had several years of studio photography experience, and that is primarily what I've done for the last several years. I have a few Paul C. Buff Alien Bees lights that do the trick for most lighting situations, although... I wish I could afford better equipment. My husband got out of the military last July, and since then, I've done a few freelance photography jobs on my own. Mainly family and maternity/newborn studio. My main problem is that I'm not a salesperson, and that I SUCK at marketing myself. We moved to a new state. I had 5 or so family shoots around Christmas time that made some money, but since then have been unable to pick up shoots off of craigslist alone. I had a job offer the other day to be an apprentice to a studio that is in a (somewhat) nearby mall. I know that I can take better photos than those that are on this private mall studios website. Should I go with it, in the interest of keeping in practice, or do you think that I MIGHT have what it takes to make it on my own? Here is my website: http://www.yourportraitsbydesign.com/ I SUCK as a salesperson. When I shoot on my own, I generally sell the whole session on disc for $100. I really thought I'd get better responses, but then... I just post on craistlist and don't really know anyone around here in order to spread by word of mouth. In your opinion, am I better off bettering my marketing/salesmanship skills and shooting on my own, or should I join as an apprentice to an already established studio? FTR... I just had a beautiful baby girl. I'd like to be at home with her as much as possible. If you think I could find a 40 hour per week job that could pay for her care AND make some extra money, I'd do it. In fact, I have an interview soon with a company that has a place in a mall. I know that my photography is better than the photos that they showcase on their walls, so I'm slightly hesitant to even go to the interview. What do you think? Should I stick it out on my own? Advertise more, in different places other than just craigslist?! Or just give it up and go to the interview? Thanks :-) more

Resolved Question: Would you like to help with the illegal immigrant problem ?

The Texas Border Sheriff's Coalition (TBSC) has joined BlueServoSM in a public-private partnership to deploy the Virtual Community Watch, an innovative real-time surveillance program designed to empower the public to proactively participate in fighting border crime. The TBSC BlueServoSM Virtual Community WatchSM is a FREE service consisting of a network of cameras and sensors along the Texas-Mexico border. This network feeds live streaming video FREE-OF-CHARGE to the user's computer, which they can access by creating a FREE account at www.BlueServo.net. Users will log in to the BlueServoSM website and directly monitor suspicious criminal activity along the border via this virtual fenceSM. Citizens can sign up as Virtual Texas DeputiesSM to participate in border surveillance through this social network. Virtual Texas DeputiesSM from around the country will monitor the streaming video from these cameras 24/7 and report any suspicious activities directly to the Border Sheriffs via email. All emails regarding suspicious activity will be submitted anonymously. The Public, acting as Virtual Texas DeputiesSM, is limited to reporting suspicious activities via email. Local county Sheriffs will respond to these reports, conduct all investigations, and take appropriate actions. This service will provide millions of dollars in benefits to local border Sheriffs, with the public acting as additional pairs of eyes for Deputies on the ground. This extra surveillance will allow the public to directly participate in reducing crime and improving their communities. It is a well-established fact that citizen involvement in community watch programs such as this one reduces crime. Another facet of this program is the ability of the public to connect their own cameras to www.BlueServo.net to create local Virtual Neighborhood WatchesSM in order to protect their own homes, neighborhoods, and families from criminal acts. These Virtual Neighborhood WatchesSM can, in turn, be connected to form additional Virtual Community WatchesSM. Membership on www.BlueServo.net site is free and open to anyone by signing up and obtaining a User Log-In. Because www.BlueServo.net is an internet social network, in the future, BlueServoSM anticipates that high volume of traffic to its website will generate advertising revenue to defray the operations cost of the Virtual Community WatchSM to the Texas Border Sheriff's Coalition. http://www.blueservo.net/about.php more

Resolved Question: Is this a Scam or not?!?

I recently received an E-mail that seems to me to be a scam....I am not sure but it kind of reminds me of those " Nigerian Prince who needs your bank info so he can receive his multi-million dollar fortune-of which you will be entitled to a large some of..." scams that were so popular a few years back. God, I fell for that one 3 times in a row! I don't want to be victimized yet again....., and this is why I wanted to get you alls opinion on this one. I got to admit, it sounds legitimate to me...but I just don't know anymore. The following is the letter I received: Hello young sir and/or lady....I am Charles Chester Cheeze-Its...world famous owner of the Cheeze-Its brand name. I made my fortune developing new ways to trap Shrimp in the coastal waters of Southern Peru...But I had always dreamed of one day owning the Cheeze-its empire (Not only because of Cheeze-Its reputation as being at the forefront of snack-food technology...but mainly because I was born with the name C.C. Cheeze-its) I would like you to become my Ambassador To the Middle East...Help me Bring Cheese-Its to this War Torn World! Being somewhat of a humanitarian, I think it will help the peace process if both (or how many sides are involved) can sit down and enjoy one of my companies World Class Snack Foods, namely Cheese-Its! You may ask yourself "But why me Mr. Cheese-its? What do I know about the Middle East? And...hey....wait a minute, how do you (a world traveling multi-millionaire CEO of a famous company) know anything about ME (a home-town average Joe and/or Jane) ???! Well...the answer is quite simple, there Child! Although I must admit that your questions are quite bright...they show that I have, indeed made the right choice in singling you out from the millions of other average Joe and/or Janes out there. You see I have been covertly following quite a few individuals for a long time now....Watching their online activity....reading their various comments to News-Groups, etc. By doing this, and through a complex scientific formula I have narrowed my choice down to one single individual...YOU!!!! You may think this an odd way of doing things, but here in the world of High Finance, we do this sort of thing daily! In fact how do you think someone ever gets such a job, as an "Ambassador" whether for a company or through the Government? I don't ever recall any college degrees in that area, do you? Nor would you ever see such an add for a thing in the Help Wanted section of any News Paper! Why? Because Such peoples have been Individually chosen for the job, often without their even knowing that they were being considered....JUST LIKE YOU!!!! Being an Ambassador is one of the Easiest Jobs in the world...this is why it is never advertised..people would swarm the application and the Person seeking to have the position filled would be Swamped with applicants. No, what is happening to you right now, has happened to practically every Ambassador since the dawn of modern time. SO NOW WHAT? Well I am very glad that you asked. New regulations from the NSA and FDA, as well as the CIA, and the Obama White House have made it a bit more difficult. There is a slight amount of red-tape to jump through...but I will hold your hand through it, and together you will come out the other side a FULL FLEDGED AMBASSADOR!!!!!!! First off I am gonna need your bank information...you see in order to access your funds overseas you will, first have to transfer all of your assets to a company owned Offshore Bank. Offshore, means International, by the way...this keeps you from loosing up to HALF or MORE of your hard earned money to Taxes!!! See, I am looking out for you already!!! SO send me that info as quickly as you can.... PS don't tell anyone else about this! They might get jealous and throw a monkey wrench into the process, which could take years to fix! In fact getting anyone involved INCLUDING the authorities (although for the life of me I could never assume why you would do something like that....I mean that's crazy!!! LOL!!) could cause such a disruption that in order to safeguard my company I may have to offer this position to someone else...and honestly that would Break My Heart! Please act Quickly...we need you now!!! Your Future Awaits you!!!! -Charles Chester Cheeze-Its CEO of Cheeze-Its ------------------------------------------------ Well what do You guys think? Seems Legit to me! I just wanted to check with all of you first...THANKS!!!! more

Voting Question: I dont know what is going on with my boyfriend?

Its quite complicated - Firstly - We have been together for about five years. He has his own business so I bought a house which is in my name. We agreed to do this in case his business folded and i wouldnt lose the house. Anyway - he does F@@k all to help me in the house - No help with DIY, no help with cleaning or maintenance. When i ask him why he says Its not his house so hes not intrested!!!! I feel really crap - he keeps throwing in my face even though it was his idea. He has a flat above his business and sometimes he still stays there, esp if we have an argument he just goes back there. Because of this set up he wont help me pay any bills on the house. He stays up till 3 in the morning using electricity. He gave me a credit card a while ago but im not allowed to use it so i have given it back to him. I dont know what to do - I work for him and I get a small amount of money for doing this but its not enough to live on at all. I have a son to support and my bf is just not helping. To top this off - I said to him I really dont know I can financially go on and am looking for another job. I joked about becoming an escort and he said he found that really horny. So horny in fact he nagged and nagged me to join an agency. Then because i joined he did too. That same day they said they had a booking for him - it made me feel sick. He was going to do it but then found out the agency are scamming people so cancelled it. I just dont know what to do - what is he doing to me. He has a boat which costs him about 1400 pounds a month, a new car which he recently bought for 800 pounds a month plus other stuff. yet he wont help me more. I saw a shop near me today advertising for staff so i told him i might apply and he was really shitty about it. I cant win - and i dont know what to do. more

Resolved Question: Please help with this paragraph?

Conclusion paragraph: In the final analysis, Alcohol should be absent from all advertisements because they promote a substance that can cause awful consequences including health problems, death, and financial issues. The fact that these advertisements have persuaded many to drink alcohol clearly shows that these advertisements have a part in the cause of many deaths, health issues, and financial issues. Should advertisement companies promoting detrimental products be allowed to advertise? Please edit this, add on to it, anything to make it better. Somethig tells me this is not enough.Would this be a good concluding sentence? Would one want to be in charge of choosing whether or not he can save millions of lives and choose not to? more

Resolved Question: What does 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p mean? Really?

First off, I'm not a total tech nooby or oblivious. I have a somewhat high tech understanding but I'm only 18 and haven't taken courses in anything relative to computers. This is what I know so far. 360p - Low quality ( Unsure. ???x360 ) 480p - Medium quality ( Unsure. 720x480? ) 720p - High quality ( 1280x720 ) 1080i - High quality ( 1900x1080 ) -Interlaced 1080p - Highest at-home quality ( 1900x1080 ) With that being known, here is the important part. I bought a TV about 2 years ago. It was a 26" Samsung HDTV advertised at 720p resolution. My computer monitor had a problem with the VGA input so I decided to see what it would look like if I hooked my computer up to my screen and ditch my monitor with a damaged plug. Needless to say, the TV looked terrible. I was very disappointed at how the quality looked. I did know that LCD screens need to be set to their native resolution to look good, so I set the resolution to 1280x720 thinking that was correct as it was labeled 720p. This lead to a bad picture and ultimately me not using it as a monitor and being disappointed. I then decided I should get an HDMI cable for my monitor and see if that fixed my monitor's problem (Horizontal Banding / LCD Rainbows) and it did. After this fix, I had a spare VGA cable laying around and a TV just in range of using a dual-monitor setup without paying any money for it. I figured even if the quality was bad, it was worth plugging in right? Well. I'm glad I did but at the time it wasn't that great. I just found out that the resolution on it is not 1280x720, it is in fact 1680x1050 which is a lot nicer than the 1280x720 I thought it was. The only thing that gave away my TV's true resolution was the software that came with the NVIDIA Control Panel I was using while setting up a dual monitor setup. It showed up as 1680x1050 (Native) and I was like, no, that can't be. But sure enough it was. So I realize now that my TV is 720p with 1650x1050 resolution. I thought 720p was only 1280x720 and I was wrong. Ok. I now have to question what 720p means as I apparently have no idea. While I'm at it, I figure I'll ask what a few other well known resolutions are in hopes of some good answers. Here is what I would like to know. -Why do the TV brands advertise their products strictly as 720p, 1080i or 1080p rather than the true resolutions? -What does 360p really mean? -What does 480p really mean? -What does 720p really mean? -What does 1080i really mean? -What does 1080p really mean? -What are all the possible variable resolutions for 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p that I can expect to encounter when buying a tv that is labeled so simply? -Do they label their products as 720p/1080p to show what it can display, but is not the maximum? For example would a 1899x1199 resolution TV be labeled 720p purely because it can fully display 720p but can't yet do 1080p?R T, your answer was thorough and informative but nearly irrelevant to my question. I advise you to try again if you want best answer. Also, yeah I know the NVIDIA thing isn't always right about Native resolutions but this time it was. I set it to it and everything is clear as can be. I can see each individual pixel if I look close enough and I did a screen image test. This is the correct resolution, all the NVIDIA thing did was make me try that resolution. more

Resolved Question: Career Suggestions Help?

My main specific career components: 1.Conduct research by observing behavior or phenomena, gathering or compiling, reading and learning information, idea generation and using visual associate memory, in a social science field. 2.Drawing comics and graffiti art, and other illustrations. Designing and building small models, like puzzles and architecture models. Creating and editing film and music art projects. 3.Help the most poor and disadvantaged people in the world on a local, national and international level. 4.Increasing awareness of disadvantaged people’s psychological and social conditions through psychological advertising and contact to social scientists, psychologists, politicians and economists. 5.I want my work environment to be similar to that of an FBI analyst by first observing real-world facts and evidence (outdoor field work), then using information and idea generation to “solve a criminal case” (conduct research – no more than two hours a day of research in front of a computer), and then to observe if real changes have been made. I dislike doing computer work. 6.Even though I want to have several new and interesting projects often, I do want to specialize in certain skills and knowledge, so that there is a high demand for me, and I will have financial security and job security, and I’m able to find work in many cities. Examples of this might be, a doctor, lawyer or teacher. What I am asking for is suggestions for careers that match with all of my components or with as many of these components as possible. It can be any career as long as it matches with these components. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: How do I write an honest resumé that actually sounds good and convincing?

I'm 25 years old, in my third year of college (graduating next year), and am looking for a job in a PR/advertising media consultancy as a copywriter, account executive, and market researcher. This is my fifth attempt at college and I'm doing well this time at 3.61 GPA score, but I barely have any proper work experience. I normally only include three of my studies in my resume: Performing Arts Communication (current), Communication Management & Advertising Design (2004-2005) and Marketing/Management (2002). The ones I left out were European Studies (2003, strange situation) and Philosophy (2006, didn't seriously want it, and have administrative problems so the school probably won't release my transcript anyway). However, I did learn from each and every one of my studies, no matter how bad I did. I've been trying to avoid discussions about my past in job interviews, but when my interviewer sees that I have so many studies under my wing, it just seems that they couldn't help but ask. The reason why I failed four times in college before was NOT because I was dumb or had a lousy work ethic. I left my first college because the circumstances there didn't enable me to pursue my life goals, and as soon as I arrived at my second college I made the innocent mistake of hanging with the wrong crowd, thus costing me the next three studies. If it weren't for the misfortune that was beyond my control, I really did study hard and would have succeeded in my earlier attempts for college. I hate this bit right here, because it makes me sound as though I wasn't responsible; whereas in reality I worked really hard to learn from my mistakes and press on to my goals despite the delay. I did work between ages 19-24, but not the kind that my prospective employers would want to hear. Very briefly in an apparel retailer (age 19). I did 2 years of multilevel marketing (ages 19-21) because it was the only place I felt safe and accepted during the period that I was trying to get out of a devastatingly abusive relationship a continent away from my family home. I took various freelance translating and interpreting jobs between the ages 19-24, which I can do very well across three languages, but I have never been able to repeat business as regular as I had wished. When I was 23, at the pressure of some friends, I attempted to start my own business: a performing arts event organizer and training center. However, since last year this organization went into hiatus in order to first properly learn about the trade, gain resources, and get connected to the right people. I haven't worked since because my studies started demanding the better of my time. Writing resumés makes me nervous because my history really hasn't been filled with a lot of success, and I guess the only good thing I have left to offer is hope and positive self-belief (despite the fact that I haven't been able to prove anything over the past couple of years). I really think I'm not a bad person or a loser, I just had been unlucky. But other than that, I'm really good at writing, speaking, making people buy into my ideas, researching, foreign languages, and helping others fulfill greater potential by gaining self-awareness. Based on these facts, I really do believe that I deserve a career and that there are jobs I can be successful in out there. Having said that, which studies and work experiences do I put in my CV, and which ones do I leave out? Since the problem had nothing to do with the professional, how do I answer to my interviewer when asked why I couldn't seem to commit to anything long term, without revealing any personal problems I went through? Interviewers have told me that although I know what I want, I don't have what it takes to achieve them; how do I prove them wrong? How can I make my resumé and interview get me the job I want?I'm also stuck when I'm obligated to state how much I made in the jobs. I was paid commissions in MLM, so it was irregular, and I didn't make much. I tend to disguise this job as "account executive for FMCG distribution company". What I made on translation also depended on the length and difficulty of the job; I never really depended on the money I made from it to live on month to month. What do I write in the CV and what do I tell my interviewer without exposing myself, and how do I make sure that my answers lead to a fair negotiation? more

Resolved Question: Outrage at Christian Evangelisation International Ministries Church, Abp Paul Baker to blame. WHY?

This church advertises on the net asking people to donate money to help the needy. I will tell you who the needy are. It is run by Rev Dr Leslie Mary Trombly who has a lovely lifestyle in USA. She goes without nothing. Her hobby is running the church from her wheelchair online. It makes her feel important. Under her we have Abp Paul Baker, an old man now, married with kids and grandkids. He supposedly sorts out the money and gives it to those who need it etc. But this is what we found out about him, and all of this is proven. You can read an article about it. Sunday People newspaper, UK. Very Bad Men and other tv programmes are thinking of making a programme about this guy. His last church threw him out because of "money discrepancies". He has borowed huge sums of money from parishioners and others. One lent him £8000 and then he nagged her to lend him another £7000 which she refused. Most people have to work a year to earn this. This guy then insists that he is sorry but he cannot pay it back and pleads poverty. Yet in the meantime he has about 5 holidays a year, long expensive ones, buys cars, bought a boat, joined the golf club, and takes his family out for very expensive evenings. In other words the people who lend him money end up paying for his luxuries and lifestyle. Other churches in his area refused to deal with him because he didnt pay his bills or over charged. Other jobs he had always sacked him. He is almost bankrupt and owes the bank a great deal. Yet he continues to spend a lot. Usually other peoples money, which they think he will pay back, but he never does. Although this man is married with kids and grandkids and very old now, he also pesters women at the church for sex !! He told one much younger single woman that he loved her and wanted to marry her. He bought her an engagement ring, got officially engaged to her (forgetting to tell his wife). He also virtually moved in with her, making out to his wife that he had to work very long hours and that is why he was rarely at home. He did this for EIGHT YEARS and it only ended when the girlfriend ended it, it would still be going on now otherwise. He became so loathed and distrusted where he lived, and his wife knew that she was an outcast in the town, and she was scared that if they stayed he would keep pestering this woman to see him again. So they had to move a long way away. The church knows all this, yet they are happy to keep him. Happy for parishioners to trust him with their money and their lives. The fact that he uses people and lies to people and robs them doesnt bother them. What does this say about the church? more

Voting Question: Can anyone tell me how to say "love life" and "love it" in Greek, Arabic, Spanish, and French?

My professor is punishing me for putting him on the spot in our marketing class... basically, I disagreed with a concept that was actually incorrect, but he didn't like the fact that I unintentionally made him look silly in from of the class. So, he gave me this assignment to come up with an advertising banner that reads "love life", and another one the reads "love it." On top of that, I have to come up with this Greek, Arabic, Spanish, and French languages. I'll bet this has to be the craziest Answers question yet, but I really need the help on this one. If you can give me the English pronuciation version, and some leads, I'd certainly appreciate it. Also, it has to be the correct stating of these phrases. Please help me... anybody, so I can make him choke on them... thanks! more

Voting Question: how to advertise music on hold?

Hi everyone, I would like to create a one or doublesided leaflet all about the benefits of our music on hold product. I have a excellent music on hold product that will benefit any business you can even choose from a range of people and accents who will go in the studio and record your own personalised message to advertise your business. I unfortunately have never designed anything so this is my task for the weekend, I am hoping to have some pictures that will promote the product along with maybe some facts but i have no idea how to design such a thing to generate any business. Any ideas anyone may have will be greatly appreciated. more

Resolved Question: Please, check my short essay for an IELTS-like exam... (250 words)?

Here it is: Nowadays it has become a commonplace when another pop, sport or film star earns millions of dollars for activity generally regarded as not very difficult - at least not too wearisome to justify such exorbitant incomes – like playing a part in a short advertise movie or promoting some brands. Many people claim that this is not fare as ordinary people have to work hard for far less impressive sums of money and take exception against such obvious unevenness of wealth distribution. Are these people right or all these well-known persons really deserve their fortunes? First of all, as long as we live in a capitalistic society where everyone gets as big remuneration for his work as it virtually costs, the problem of fairness of anyone’s incomes seems to be non-issue. Any bargain has two sides and if one gets a sum of money however enormous it is, this means that there is someone who appreciates his work in this very extent. In case with famous people this second side we are, so aren’t we to blame if this system is so unfair? When we talk about stars, the entire fortune consists of contributions of a great deal of people, but this fact in no way belittles achievements of this famous person. If his or her work is actual for so many people, isn’t it enough for that big wages? Many men, many minds as the proverb says, but on balance I tend to believe that everyone eventually gets what he deserves for fair. Thank you! more

Resolved Question: what do you think of the TV ad that tells girls how to get an abortion?

this is nothing to do with views on abortion itself but the fact that abortion is effectively being advertised and the fact that some people may view abortion as another form of contraception as a resultit is due to be aired for the first time on Monday on channel 4 at 10:10pm more
