Open Question: Help! Do you have any creative and inexpensive advertising ideas?
I help run youth theatre camps with a local theatre company, and we're having a real tough time getting kids to sign up this year. Currently, we have all sorts of online advertising (ads we pay for and free listings), we pass out flyers at all the schools that will let us, we have flyers in a few local businesses, and we're even paying people to work for us as recruiters. And we're still getting no one--I don't know what's going on, we've never had a tough time in past years. Anyway, I need more advertising ideas-ones that won't cost a fortune (meaning commercials won't happen). Do you have any clever little ways to advertise for little or no cost? I was trying to think of some clever ideas, and I thought maybe we could make bookmarks (advertising our camp) and slip them into library books geared towards kids aged for our camps. Would I get into trouble for this? This probably sounds stupid, but we're getting desperate, I've run out of good ideas! Help me! (PS. I should also mention that the libraries won't let us advertise by putting out flyers because we're not a not-for-profit company. So, I was trying to think of a way around this)Yes, we do have a website. We also have PPC advertising through google, microsoft, and facebook. (The facebook one is getting really expensive!) Thomas, I don't understand that website.... If it's called "Add Your Site Free" why do I have to pay? I don't know if that would help much, I guess I should have mentioned that we really just need local advertising. moreOpen Question: Setting up a COD:MW2 tournament?
Im setting up a youth group Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 tournament. The tournament is going to be city wide and advertised in high schools and Facebook/Twitter/Myspace, not only open to the youth group. What i need to know is details on setting this up, if u can help please do. We are going to have 16 TV's all the same size and make. the tourny will consist of 2 - 8 player games going on at once. (4v4) What i need to know is how to system link the 8 xbox's together. and i also need to know how to get each account to level 70 and if thats to difficult then is it a good idea to jus play each account from level 1 and use default classes. I DO NOT! need to hear how good or bad the game is. or how cheap some weapons are compared to others. i realize people have different opinions on this game. please only answer the questions above. Thanks.the tv's are being supplied at a discount and the rental companys banner will be put in the location of the tournament. and i do have plenty of experience with the actual game. just not setting up the tournament gameplay. once again answer the questions asked please.Sorry, forgot to mention there are local businesses that are also helping with the cost to have advertisement put up. Budget is not necessarily an issue. moreResolved Question: why is the world/society so obscene and sexualized?
back when i was growing up, president millard filllmore never would have allowed this. you have billboards featuring topless women, internet porn everywhere, official tourism encouraging adultery, mainstream media corrupting the youth and children, showgirls and prostitutes walking down the street, cabs with posters advertising strip clubs. you go to the supermarket and you see she-male lapdancers there.i feel bad for my great grandkids who know nothing about class and self respect.he was the president of the united states and among one of the greatest presidents. look him up!EDIT: Millard Fillmore served as the President of the United States from 1850-1853. moreResolved Question: Are Irelands Youths Too Influenced By Advertising?

First of all: is there an online survey or questionnaire I can take that will help me decide? If not, I welcome your advice. Background: - Graduated 2009 with a BA in Music, BUT I don't want to study or play music professionally - 3.5 GPA on graduation (not great I know, but I have good writing skills and study habits) - 1 year work experience in social media marketing BUT I've decided I don't want to work in sales, advertising, or marketing (maybe for a nonprofit... *maybe*.) - I want to go back to school and study something I'm genuinely interested in - Huge politics and natural sciences nerd. Science interests: earth/space, biology, astronomy, oceanic/atmospheric - I would love to do something involving science awareness/advocacy/education for teens or youth. - Solid computer skills, but no programming experience other than HTML/CSS - I love computers, I'm totally fine with working at a computer all day - Cost is not a huge concern, but must be less than $20,000/yr - **Must be a west coast school** Thanks in advance!!! moreResolved Question: Advertising and and its affects on youth?

Why are people in the people complaining about other Americans and not their own parties failing leadership? The scandals and abuses stem form the money and the cost of political marketing and advertising. I would be willing to pay more taxes to allow qualified political candidates the chance to compete will these wealthy and privileged candidates. Don't talk to me about fairness and equality at 43 yrs old with 28yrs working for the army and the state/federal government starting as a child with a paper route or in a summer youth program. I have seen the extent of opportunity for the privileged vs. the educated poor. We should take all the money out of politics so the corruption comes to an end even if Capitalism suffers a little the banker and media tycoon won't be able to lawfully steal our government, choose for us and later corrupt our appointed officials before our very eyes. We are planning on having a dance concert later this year but to advertise our concert we wanted to do some spontaneous performing in our local mall or things like that. But do we have to obtain a permit or permission to perform there or would we be fine without telling anyone? moreResolved Question: Do you agree that Christians shouldn't be trying to recruit children into being believers of their religion?
In grade 5 and 6 people from churches came to my school (public school) every friday afternoon, and if you were a believer of something else, or just choose not to have a faith, you would be told to do work in another room like a punishment, many people just participated in the activities to avoid extra work. Once again in high school people are still trying to manipulate our minds at a young age, coming to the school on friday lunch breaks and advertising a christian event for young people called "youth" and drawing students with music and games that if won results in chocolate. I think this is wrong, people shouldn't be forcing religion down young children's throats. They should be able to choose there faith, if any at all, at a mature enough age without the influence of appealing activities and music as a child.@africanlionhunter. They aren't teaching children to love one another, did I say that's what they are doing? no I didn't because their not doing that. What they are doing is luring in easily manipulated minds with things that appeal to them, so that they will listen to their preaches. moreResolved Question: What must the "Catholic Church" do to stop losing 30% or more of its members in the next 5-10 years?
As a Jesusonian Christian who is personally God-conscious in Jesus; (closest to Trinity believing morally conservative and spiritually progressive Protestants) I am now not as anti-Catholic as I was in my youth; I want to see the Catholic Church also help defeat Godless atheism, immoral secular humanism, materialism and proclaim the eternally True superior Bible teachings as approved by Jesus Christ here universally in Spirit. I do work with many morally conservative Catholics in achieving common GOALS for society. However, the Catholic Church today is in a severe crisis of confidence because of the ungodly behaviors of some in the ecclesiastical hierarchy. I see this church in the USA now advertising on TV to "come back", etc. I think that is too costly and not effective. What significant changes should the Catholic Church implement immediately to stop the drastic loss of members? Thank you for all sincere and positive answers ! Negative answers should get many "thumbs down". Peace and progress in Spirit and in Father-Son Truth !To Acid Zebra. The sad or happy condition is that secular humanists do not live as long as conservative, moral, God-believing persons on earth ! and they have far less children ! Or, "You play, you pay", thus count the terrible costs of not obeying God.To Those who say the Roman Catholic church is growing, look at the many surveys that show that membership is declining in the USA and Europe and elsewhere. For example, Pew Research -Pew Forum states that USA Catholics lost nearly 400,000 members between 2006 and 2007. Wait until you see the next surveys more up to date and you should see faster declines. moreVoting Question: A researcher wants to study the effects of advertising by youth orientated female pop stars upon middle school?

I work for an after school journalism program. We provide outlets for youth volunteers to work after school on professional news stories for print. We advertise ourselves as a professional news service. Recently one of our volunteers came up with a new story idea and while looking for proper interviewees one of my co-workers/managers suggested my team set up an interview with a service that could provide insight on the story. It has come to my attention that the service my manager suggested actually EMPLOYS her. For my own part, my team has no intention of coddling or advertising for this service. We just want information, insight and the rest. However, this might be a "conflict of interest, real or imagined" and it would be up to me to cancel the interview. I need a decisive answer soon. moreResolved Question: What do you think of my speach?
Hello, if anyone would like to read my speach and give me some constructive critisism that would be great :) thanks Have you ever opened a magazine and all you saw were pictures of females with absolutly no flaws? Girls, have you ever felt pressured by these commericials advertising your favorite products? Pressure from the media in teen girls is a fast growing problem that leaves many girls feeling bad and unhappy with their apperance and bodies. In the past few decades a strong image of what is "beautiful" has corrupted the minds of many girls, making them feel as if they are not good enough. So what can this pressure do to the female population? Many diseases such as anorexia can be triggered by this pressure. Anorexia is a disease in which you starve yourself and do not take in the nutrients necissary to live a normal healthy life. This pressure can also result in severe depression that can virtually destroy your life. Exposure to this unrealistic image starts at a very young age. Dolls and toys such as Barbie, protrays an unhealthy image of a stick thin flawless body. These dolls set a steriotype in which girls think they should follow. A study was done with girls in US and the results concluded that 86% of girls under the age of 18 admitted to dieting or at one point thought they should loose weight. In this percentage of girls, one percents condition will advance to a full blown eating disorder which CAN result to death. Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate in all mental illnesses. All this buzz about what we are expozing to the worlds youth has got many celebrities concerned. Awareness to these problemes is becoming incresingly popular . For example, supermodel Tyra Banks, host of the hit TV show "Americas next top model" recently decided to eliminate the 5 foot 8 standard model height and let woman of any height audition for the show. She also supports plus size models and is one herself. Also, hit talk show host Oprah Winfrey is incredibly passionate about this pressure caused my the media. She quotes "I finally realized that being grateful of my body was key to giving more love to myself. " Recently, you may have seen commericials by dove advertising their "campagne for real beauty." This campagnes mission is to make more woman feel beautiful every day by widening steriotypical views of beauty. The brands commitment starts with using real woman, not professional models, of various ages, shapes and sizes to provoke discussion and debate about todays typical beauty images. Dove did a survey and they found that only 2% of women think that they are beautiful and one third strongly agree that the media and advertising set an unrealistic standard for beauty that most woman cant ever achieve. So, what can you do to help solve this problem? Look in the mirror. Find something you like about yourself and try to focus on that other than your flaws. You will quickly find that you feel better about your apperarence. Also, you may be the only one who notices these flaws in yourself. Always remember, you are your own worst criticnot judged on spelling by the way. im not handing and copy of the speech in, i have to read it in front of the class moreResolved Question: can someone help me add more ideas to this paper?

Just wondering what everyone thinks of JNTO's goal of getting 10 million tourists to Japan by 2010, and then on to 20 million in 2020. Do you think that, looking at current numbers and trends, it is achieveable, or even conceivable? Reasons for: - The tourism board has set up a Facebook and Twitter account to reach and attract people - 2010 has been announced as a 'Visit Japan' year - A new 'Visit Japan 2010' website has been launched - Increased tourism budgets - London Underground advertising campaign - Competition held for US citizens - Information packs being sent out to the US citizens who took part in the contest - Pop culture (Anime, Manga, music, video games, movie) interests increasing abroad - English more widely used - Growing Asian market Reasons against: - Cost of a trip there is very high - Considered a racist nation by some - Peoples perceptions are different from the actual place - Language barrier - Too confusing a place - Options of cheaper package holidays (especially popular in Britain) - Lack of interest - Youth (particularly in my country) deteriorating e.g. spending all money on drinking etc - The ones with the strongest interest in going are too young to do so, and by adulthood, may have changed their minds - It has taken 3 years (2004 - 2007, about 6 million to about 8 million) in the past to achieve the 2 million tourists they need to hit the 10 million mark, while they now expect to do that by the end of this year moreResolved Question: .With the growing popularity of new and emerging media like the Internet, especially among the youth, many soc?

An advertisment says that Atheist youth can win 'up to' $25,000 for college by writing an essay. The subject of the essay is to be "Why I am An Atheist" in 5,000 words or less. Is this even possible? Where is the money trail? Who is funding this Atheist Scholarship Fund? The ad didn't say. moreResolved Question: Just what's so wrong with "militant" atheism, anyway?
I seen stories and posts in the conservative media and on websites like this accusing atheist individuals or group that dare to publicly proclaim their atheism as being "militant"--with the unspoken (sometimes spoken) suggestion that such a position is bad, dangerous, unpatriotic or even downright evil. But why is this? Xtians have been putting up billboards and taking out media advertising for decades--why is it "militant" for an atheist group to do the same? Granted some of the billboards are a little blunt, but most of them appear to go to great lengths to avoid being confrontational. Xtians have been meeting to discuss topics of mutual interest and benefit (both religious and secular) for centuries--why are atheists who try to do the same labeled "militant". Especially since 9/11 the term has become irrevocably tied to terrorists and violent extremist groups. Xtians often (and rightfully) take advantage of the court system when they feel their constitutional rights have been violated--why are atheists "militant" or "aggressive" on the relatively few times they've done the same. Someone please tell me what's so militant about participating in public displays or events as an atheist that wide ranging groups have involved themselves in anyone giving it a second thought? Did the atheist sign in the Washington State Capitol REALLY ruin anyone's Xmas? Would a humanists groups sponsoring a section of highway REALLY damn all those who drive on it to the depths of Hell? Why shouldn't atheists groups have the same right to expand their membership and raise awareness of their existence without interference that most other religious, political or cultural groups have? Why aren't campus "young conservatives" groups called "militant"? Why wasn't the group that rented billboards urging people to say "Merry Xmas" instead of "Happy Holidays" referred to as "Militant Xtians" in the press?" Why doesn't the media call Little League a "militant youth sports group"? I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this issue--most particularly our American cousins, who from what I seen in the media seem to wrestling the most with this. Thanks in advance. moreVoting Question: I need to have this essay rewritten for my english class. Hurry!!! Please!?
Tobacco and Teenagers On almost every street corner in America, you will find a teen or young adult smoking. “Approximately 4.5 million adolescents smoke in the United States every year.” Even though a number of commercials and school orientations have given students the information and effects of smoking, I think sometimes kids feel they are invincible to the effects smoking can cause. “90% of people that use tobacco products start before the age of 21” that’s the reason tobacco companies have targeted the youth, ages eleven to seventeen, because they are the future of their industry and very influential. Yes it is true, the future of America has been the focus of their progression. However, how can we have a healthy outlook on the future if 90 percent of smokers in our country start smoking before the age of 21? Society needs to focus on telling teenagers the numerous effects of smoking, so they can live a healthier life. The effects of smoking cigarettes and using other tobacco products have long been proven to destroy our bodies. The number one disease caused by smoking is cancer. We have watched Babe Ruth, the one person who meant more to baseball than anyone else in the world; die from oral cancer, caused by smoking, and the sad part is that TV has advertised cigarettes and tobacco for years. Although a smoker for many years, Babe Ruth might be alive today if he had quit smoking when he was young. Smoking can also cause emphysema, which is a condition of the lungs marked by distension and frequently by making the heart beat faulter. Smoking has also been known to cause yellow stains on teeth, inflamed gums, periodontal disease, and other diseases of the mouth. With that in mind, who wants to have a cigarette hanging out of their mouth? Well the answer to that question can be answered in two words . . . today’s youth. While no one really understands why teenagers take their first puff, whether its peer pressure or if they do it for the rush of doing something that’s against the law, the fact is that they do it even if they are told not to. Obviously they don’t have a high regard for their health, either that or they don’t know to the fullest extent what they are getting into. Even after repeatedly being told that smoking is bad, teenagers just do not seem to care. Another problem with smoking is the effects it has on others around you. Studies have shown that second hand smoke is more dangerous than first hand smoke because it isn’t filtered. It causes those around them to be more susceptible to getting respiratory problems and cancer. Now the most of the youth are not only bringing themselves down, but they are bringing down the rest of the population with them. If teenagers and adults continue to smoke while they are pregnant, it will result in low birth weights and/or severe birth defects. It also affects babies that are naturally susceptible to sickness or disease because of their underdeveloped immune system. This is not making America’s future look to bright, especially because there are more babies being born today in the United States than ever before. Although teenagers have been warned of the effects of smoking, they will continue to light one up whenever and wherever they please, as long as they don’t get caught of course. We all know that teens don’t stand in front of their parents and smoke a cigarette, well maybe some do if their parents allow them. We as citizens must fight to make teenage smoking harder to start. That might also involve adults, as parents, to be stricter on their children as far as where they go and the things they do and watch. We must make new laws, ensure that America follows these laws, and punish those who break them. I don’t know who had it worse, teenagers fifty years ago who didn’t know the effects of smoking, or teenagers today that do know the effects and just don’t care and do it just because it’s “cool.” Smoking is doing nothing but harming the youth through diseases, and hurting those around them. If they knew more about the effects, then maybe they would not be so quick to start. moreResolved Question: Would you help me to correct my ENGLISH essay?
Would you help me to correct my ENGLISH essay in the respects of grammar, the accuracy of vocabulary, coherence, logistic and so on? The topic is: The media, especially advertisements, show too much information about snacks and toys to children and should be banned. What do you think of this view? You should finish the essay within 45 minutes and no less than 250 words. My essay is: As the widespread of advertisements for snacks and toys, children in current society are unavoidably affected by the over-loaded information showed by TV or other types of media towards children. However, in terms of banning the advertising of children’s products, it would be kind of unreasonable. Advertisements can afford parents an approach to acquire sufficient information about new types of snacks and toys. In contemporary society, thanks to the development of science and technology, there are a vast number of innovations in the filed of children’s goods, which can promote snacks being attractive combined with nutritious, and make for toys being aids to tap offspring’s intellectual resources. Viewing this situation, broadcasting of these products via TV, the Internet advertising or posters, could be the most effective way to help parents learn and understand those new kinds of commodity. From this respect, advertising of snacks and toys is justified. Furthermore, advertisements can bring about benefits not only to customers but also to manufacturers. It is a universal that the greater publicity, the higher sales. Better yet, apparently, if producers make significant profits, huge funding support would be allocated in the investigation of new skills which could contribute to enhance the level of security, function and quality of snacks and toys. This could eventually lead to a win-win status for both parents and sellers. Admittedly, it is the truth that the prevalent advertisements may mislead the youths to over-consume, because youngsters usually lack the capacity of controlling their consuming desire. On the other hand, fortunately, common situation is guardians, rather than adolescents themselves, could make the decision whether or when a product should be purchased. So, forbidding publicizing children’s goods for this reason is pointless. In conclusion, although there are some drawbacks brought by advertising snacks and toys, in view of the remarkable advantages of it, banning to show advertisements via media would be the last measurements adopted by authorities. moreResolved Question: what do you think of my essay?
Right, so i'm 13 and i'm doing my english GCSE a year early. this is my first EVER essay on media and its about two advertisements for two different perfumes found in Bliss Magazine. SORRY ITS SO LENGTHY.. YOU DONT NEED TO READ IT ALL. THANKS. Following your close study on Bliss, comment on and compare advertisement features within the magazine that you feel are successful The publishers of Bliss magazine obviously have a clear idea of their target audience. Not only do the bright, girly colours and photographs of current and popular celebrities suggest that it is aimed at teenage girls but also the name 'bliss'- meaning extreme happiness, suggests femininity and youth. The magazine is most likely aimed at females in there early adolescent years and possibly even preteens; perhaps with ages varied between twelve and fifteen. They also know that it is important to appeal to the target audience and so have used a wide range of presentational features to ensure this is achievable; some of these include the colour scheme, lay-out, fonts and images. All of the devices used are not only suitable for the Bliss readers, but also for the purpose of the magazine which is to entertain, give advice, advertise and ultimately sell. The content usually includes pages based on celebrity gossip, news, fashion tips, interviews and “problem pages” all of which have been designed for the purpose and target audience. Obviously, their main priority is to sell and so they approach the potential buyer bribing them with a “free gift”. They also design the front cover making sure the expensive price tag is the least eyecatching part and is over-powered by other feautures. Some would say that magazines such as Bliss can be quite misleading because they lure the shopper into buying it and are only interested in the money that they will be receiving. Another way that the company attempts to increase their profits is by advertising. In the December issue of Bliss Magazine that we have previously studied, two similar advertisements are displayed, both of which are trying to appeal to the same target audience as Bliss Magazine itself which is why they have chosen to advertise in this particular area of the media. The first advertisement is for Avril Lavigne’s perfume “Black star”. Already, the name suggests a lot about the product. For example; you would imagine it to be gothic and dark because those are the connotations of the colour black. Despite the gothic style, pink is used in the colour scheme to make sure that it can appeal to more than just one group of people and produce more sales. Pink is also a typical feminine colour and so is suitable for the target audience. The name “black star” contradicts itself because stars are never usually described as black, therefore creating a sense of uniqueness and individuality which is something many teenagers aspire to be. The wording “be your own star”, tells the reader that buying the perfume can help you to become everything you want to be, therefore making it very persuasive. They also do this by styling Avril Lavigne to look like her perfume bottle. She models a short pink dress with finishing touches including a studded belt, fish net tights and a shinny, silver bangle and is posed to look powerful which breaks the weak and innocent stereotype of a typical girl. Similarly, the bottle is pink and shaped like the dress with a black, star shaped lid which reflects the belt that she is wearing. By mirroring the perfume bottle in her clothes and accessories, it suggests to the target audience that by wearing the perfume, they too can be like Avril Lavigne. The second of the two advertisements is about Coleen Rooney’s perfume. It has been styled carefully to look sophisticated and elegant. By using shades of purple rather than pink, it is still able to attract girls but looks more mature and grown up. The advertisement displays a photograph of Coleen, showing her slim, attractive outline and is airbrushed to make her look “perfect”. The contrast of Coleen against outlines of dancers in the background gives the impression of her “standing out”. Like Avril Lavignes perfume, the bottle is very similarly designed to mirror Coleen’s dress. Both Coleen and the bottle are plain black and very graceful. The positioning of the perfume on the advertisement feature stands slightly behind the photograph of Coleen and is larger than her. By doing this, it familiarises the audience with the product so they know what to look for when buying it. Written on the bottle is “Coleen x” in a handwriting style font and a “kiss” symbol to add a personal touch and a sense of trust and sharing. The products that are being advertised are both quite similar, however; although the target audiences a moreVoting Question: English essay... again?

Many of the people who aren't regulars here are going to go,"WHAT????". LOL :P Anyways...recently I've had conflicting feelings within me about whether or not I'm a bunny hugger or not. It's a bit confusing. I don't agree with PETA's things(totally ridiculous and stupid), but I believe you should treat animals like friends, so to speak, and yes, I do use the term adopt(simply used to it, and it seems appropriate). I believe animals should be trained, and don't believe animals should be toted around in little purses and be let to be the boss. To me, animals are friend(psh, friends you have to be the boss of), and should be treated with respect, kindness, and love. I have no problem with choke collars, prong collars, e-collars, and co. as long as they're used correctly and not by some lumbering street fool who thinks they look "cool". I understand that dogs are dogs, and do have their limitations(as in, we see hugs as loving gestures;to dogs, it's a dominating one). Enough info for you all? I hope I put this in the right section. Also...in case this isn't legit enough... Legit- ( l already asked this, but oh well...). I'd like to volunteer at a humane society in my area that allows people my age to volunteer. I'm in the lower teens age area, but my mom says I'm too young(however, might let me volunteer after my next birthday). Also, the drive to the place is 40 minutes(yikes!), and I fully understand that that's a burden to her. Does anybody have anything youth volunteers might benefit from volunteering? She's not too much of a dog person(but recently found out she cares about shelter dogs O.O), so things like,"You'll feel good about letting me help animals!" probably won't work. Also...any cons about youth volunteering? I want to show her I'm well educated about this, so to speak, and know both sides of the story. As an older male that is experiencing hearing problems first hand, oviousl teens don't understand the impact their Ipods are having on their hearing. Any sound exceeding 105 decibels that is listened to for 15 minutes can cause damage to the hearing. Personal music players on loud, which 24% of youth play their music on, is 112 decibels. Youth are listening to their Ipods for a lot longer than 15 minutes and its obvious they are damaging their hearing. The image advertised by Apple is sending out the wrong message. Youth need to be educated and shown the exact damage listening to their Ipod's loudly can result in. Apple needs to consider their advertising slogan a lot more carefully and what kind of message they are sending out to youth, unless they want a generation of people being deaf at the age of 20. Now, I'm not condemning or promoting it, but I was just curious as to who exactly is hurt by animated child porn. Quite obviously, this is a form of child pornography using cartooning or computer graphics, with (again, this should be quite axiomatic) no children directly harmed in the process. Yes, I understand that the common opinion is that it encourages sex with minors, but if pedophilia is indeed a psychological disorder (a pedophile is someone who is attracted to children, but doesn't necessarily act upon their urges), certain individuals will be attracted to children and feel intense urges without these aides. It could be argued that viewing of such materials might provoke them into actually raping a child, but it is also quite possible that it will allow them to release tension, therefore reducing the risk. As stated before, individuals may have the urges all the time. Is it really necessary to deprive them of such a reprieve when arguably no one is being hurt? I doubt that all pedophiles love the idea of being attracted to children, some may even develop intense hatred towards themselves, and with the current attitude towards pedophilia (which may or may not be justified) they would be quite reluctant to search for help. It seems quite egregious for them to be blamed for a psychological disorder well beyond their control However, there is another side of the argument. Although nobody is directly being hurt by animated child pornography, one might argue that it exploits minors by advertising them as sex objects. If made acceptable, it may begin mass distribution and corrupt the moral values of our society, or something to that effect. People already entertaining sexual notions towards children may take it as a sign to continue, which obviously would have a detrimental effect towards youth population. However, it is (arguably) just as likely that it will have the reverse effect, providing these people with a benign medium to satisfy themselves with, thus reducing the number of preadolescent rape incidents. As far as I know, animated child pornography is currently legal in the U.S. to some extent. However, some countries (again, might be totally wrong here) like Canada and Sweden, have completely illegalized it. Is this warranted or a result of public bias towards pedophilia? moreResolved Question: Why not fast food commercials?
In our country, various regulatory agencies hav made the decision that tobacco and alcohol companies should not be allowed to advertise on television (with the exception of sporting events) I understand that this is for the good of the consumer, because advertisers glamorize the use of products that destroy our bodies, and we are sheep so we follow what the T.V. tells us instead of the doctor. I am curious, however, do you think this regulation will work it's way into the fast food industry? It is just as toxic as the others and it has a stranglegold on the youth of our country. We have a couple of nice rescued horses that have not yet found homes and we don't have time to really use them since we have several of our own to start under saddle. We live in a small city with a college. I have been thinking of advertising for a responsible older teen that wants to ride and work with them, no fee involved. We have great places to ride the countryside, woods, and through streams. In exchange, I would ask that maybe once a month that person does an evening feeding for us so that when we go somewhere, we don't always have to be back by dusk. We are a registered farm, business, with adequate insurance for part-time help. We also do regular contracts for anyone else or horse on the farm. Tell me what you see as the problems with this. As an older teen, would you be interested in such a proposal? I don't expect someone to show up 6 times a week. Even once a week would get some miles on these guys that we can't get to plus give someone the chance to ride. This is just something I would have died to do as a horseless-youth, but I may not be seeing the other side. So give me your take.Edit: These are broke horses, trail-type. I don't have the time to give lessons, or I'd have the time to be riding these. I am looking for someone who can ride and wants to be free to just take a horse and go ride whenever he/she wants to.Edit: But I would have time to set someone up with some technique and handling tips, just not regular lessons.Edit for Allanas: We are old folks with lots of life experience and have pretty much thought through those things, but I appreciate you reiterating them. That's why a contract and clear expectations with the right to terminate on either side. These horses are pasture kept across the road with a run-in barn, so nobody would be in with our other stock and only brushes and grooming tools are left there. I was thinking of going to the college and asking a counselor if any responsible person popped into mind and/or advertising in the college paper. South-central Kentucky.Edit again: I just reread Allanas and realized that if I asked them to feed, they would be in our regular barn. So she didn't deserve the 2 thumbs down. She has given me something else to resolve. We would just, then, ask them to hay everyone, and we would grain when we got home. Lots of things to consider. more
