Open Question: Why do Conservative districts consume the most PORNOGRAPHY, could this explain why "Nailn Palin" is so popular?

Porn in the USA: Conservatives Are Biggest Consumers 8 of Top 10 Porn-Consuming States Voted Republican in 2008 Presidential Election By EWEN CALLAWAY Feb. 28, 2009 Americans may paint themselves in increasingly bright shades of red and blue, but new research finds one thing that varies little across the nation: the liking for online pornography. A new nationwide study (pdf) of anonymised credit-card receipts from a major online adult entertainment provider finds little variation in consumption between states. "When it comes to adult entertainment, it seems people are more the same than different," says Benjamin Edelman at Harvard Business School. However, there are some trends to be seen in the data. Those states that do consume the most porn tend to be more conservative and religious than states with lower levels of consumption, the study finds. "Some of the people who are most outraged turn out to be consumers of the very things they claimed to be outraged by," Edelman says. Political Divide Edelman spends part of his time helping companies such as Microsoft and AOL detect advertising fraud. Another consulting client runs dozens of adult websites, though he says he is not at liberty to identify the firm. That company did, however, provide Edelman with roughly two years of credit card data from 2006 to 2008 that included a purchase date and each customer's postal code After controlling for differences in broadband internet access between states – online porn tends to be a bandwidth hog – and adjusting for population, he found a relatively small difference between states with the most adult purchases and those with the fewest. The biggest consumer, Utah, averaged 5.47 adult content subscriptions per 1000 home broadband users; Montana bought the least with 1.92 per 1000. "The differences here are not so stark," Edelman says. Number 10 on the list was West Virginia at 2.94 subscriptions per 1000, while number 41, Michigan, averaged 2.32. Eight of the top 10 pornography consuming states gave their electoral votes to John McCain in last year's presidential election – Florida and Hawaii were the exceptions. While six out of the lowest 10 favoured Barack Obama. http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/Business/story?id=6977202&page=1 more

Resolved Question: <<<<< TO HAVE OR TO BE >>>>>?

Face, again, the educational side of the issue. There is no doubt that consumption were born to enrich the manufacturers of "goods" but (and that capitalism has enhanced the way) to distract you from the true values of life that we can identify (in order ) with: love, friendship, relationships, health, art, science, relationship with nature, cultural, defense of the weak, and solidarity. The famous psychologist Erich Fromm said: "The consumer is an eternal infant that screams for the Mother's milk". And the adults (they are also the fault of the consumer) are so convinced that the consumption is a way to heal the wounds in relations between people to use it also as a means to recover the relationship with their loved ones. Those disputes are trying to recover with a nice gift is often useless? How many parents think they put everything in order to buy a child a toy advertised pretty well so far signed or a T-shirt? In short: is more important to have or be? We say, not to be Manicheans, which is essential to be (be men and women to be citizens, to be honest, be healthy, be happy, be free ...) and it is important to have what is needed to be. The rest is superfluous, often useless as harmful... more

Resolved Question: People good with grammar and writing help with this article full of mistakes?

By the way, this essay was not written by me, I just found it on Wikipedia.Try to find as many mistakes as you can and correct them. This will show how well you are at grammar, spelling, etc. I want to see what people think of this! The Super Bowl has been the championship game of the National Football League (NFL), the premier association of professional American football, since 1967. In most years, the Super Bowl is the most-watched American television broadcast. Many popular singers and musicians have performed during the event’s pre-game and halftime ceremonies. The day on which the Super Bowl is played is now considered a de facto American national holiday,[1][2][3] called Super Bowl Sunday. Super Bowl Sunday is the second-largest day for U.S. food consumption, after Thanksgiving Day.[4] Exclusive television broadcast rights for the Super Bowl rotate each year among three of the four major American television networks: CBS, Fox, and NBC. Because of its high viewership, commercial airtime for the Super Bowl broadcast is the most expensive of the year. Due to the high cost of investing in advertising on the Super Bowl, companies regularly develop their most expensive advertisements for this broadcast. As a result, watching and discussing the broadcast’s commercials has become a significant aspect of the event. The Super Bowl was first played on January 15, 1967, as part of a merger agreement between the NFL and a rival league, the American Football League (AFL). It was agreed that the two leagues’ champion teams would play in an AFL–NFL World Championship Game, until the merger was consummated. After the merger of the two leagues in 1970, each league became a "conference", and the game was played between conference champions. Lamar Hunt, former owner of the Kansas City Chiefs and founding member of the American Football League, coined the name Super Bowl after watching his children playing with a Super Ball. The Super Bowl uses Roman numerals to identify each game, rather than the year in which it is held. Super Bowl I was played in 1967 to determine the championship of the regular season played in 1966, and Super Bowl XLIV, on February 7, 2010, will be played to determine the champion of the 2009 regular season. The Pittsburgh Steelers have won six Super Bowls, while the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers have each won five. Seventeen other NFL franchises have won at least one Super Bowl. Only four active NFL franchises have not appeared in the Super Bowl. They are the Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Houston Texans. The Lions are the only NFC team yet to play in one, the other three are in the AFC. The Browns and Lions have both won NFL championships prior to the Super Bowl era, while the Jaguars (who joined the NFL in 1995) and Texans (2002) joined the league after the Super Bowl era began. more

Marketing and Business Development in Beer Industry is always considered tacky business. The beer consumption in countries like India, China, Vietnam are growing at a fast pace, however companies trying to sell their product in these countries do encounter tough issues like laws against direct advertising and marketing of alcohol and tobacco products. In such cases a marketer has to be smart and use various surrogate marketing tools and techniques to promote the product. more

Voting Question: Debate: Advertising alcohol should be banned. (For the change)?

I need some help getting started we have the debate coming up (probably next week, hopefully) and I need some help. With the ban on tobacco advertising there must be some way this doesn't violate the freedom of speech. Maybe, commerical speech has something to do with it? Is there any evidence that supports a ban on advertising would decrease consumption? Just to be safe, if we did ban it how much of an economic impact would it cause? This is a 9th grade Speech class debate so don't go lawyer on me, heh. Any info you have otherwise (links are helpful) would be appreciated! Thanks! Also, I was stuck with this and do not fully agree so i'm just looking for info not personal beliefs, sorry :( more

Resolved Question: "Wanted: Expert to study lap dancers." Would you apply for such a job?

Leeds University is advertising for a £31,000-a-year researcher - to study lap dancing. http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_3582412.html?menu=news.quirkies The post, in the School of Sociology and Social Policy, is for: "Research Officer - The rise and regulation of lap dancing and the place of sexual labour and consumption in the night time economy". The Government-funded position will see the successful applicant interview 300 lap dancers in in two northern English towns. The study, which comes with a salary of £31,513, is aimed at finding out who becomes lap dancers and what their working conditions are like, as well as how the number of bars have multiplied. The ad stipulates the successful applicant will need to have "prior experience of conducting research in the female sex industry". But Susie Squire, political director at the TaxPayers' Alliance, complained: "This is the ultimate non-job and will both anger and bemuse taxpayers. "It may be a dream job for some men, but it's just another nightmare of public sector waste for the ordinary people who pay for it." more

Resolved Question: Do you agree that it is easy to feel powerless?

What the older generation may not yet understand is that our generation's problem is that we do not lack ideals; we suffer from an excess of them. We are not unaware of important causes, we are starving for a way to realize them. So companies prey on our starvation. They offer us a product to satiate our need for community, for purpose. We take our ideals and become the generation of Whole Foods-shoppers, Prius-drivers and American Apparel-clothes wearers. We show off our causes gladly on our Facebook page and on our t-shirts. Not only have we been sold our ideals back to us in the form of the shoes we buy and the coffee we drink, we are conscious of how our very passion is being co-opted. And still we do it, because we crave an imaginary community over no community. Some will say that as long as we must buy things in this economy, why not buy whatever is organic, fair trade, sweatshop-free, environmentally friendly, free range? But Do we need to support the most corrupt of companies and their labor practices? We do not hope to answer those questions. Rather we need to acknowledge that the real problem is this: consumption is now framed as a question of what causes we support, what communities we are involved in. This is the opposite of the commodity fetish that hid social relations beneath the veneer of objects. Now commodities must advertise the social relations we wish to be part of. Thus, it is easy to feel powerless, not merely because we are disenchanted with traditional activism and its results, but because our desire for collectivity has been displaced onto the realm of things, away from our material existence. We do too many things to show we care about this world; we do everything except come together to change it. more

Resolved Question: Please review my essay on Super-Size Me?

This is my essay for Health. We watched the movie Super -Size Me and were asked to do this. The topics I included were all given and had to be used. and then of course, there had to be and intro and a conclusion. I dont want the essay checked for facts. I want it checked for grammar and that kind of stuff. so if you have the time to read this over i would greatly appreciate it. I've numbered the paragraphs so that you can refer to them more easily. thank you soo much 1 Super-Size Me is the perfect movie to watch to understand the benefits and harms of certain eating habits. It teaches us about the dangers of fast food. Not only that, but it also explains what foods to eat, how much of those foods, and ways to maintain a healthy weight. 2Super-Size Me is a great teaching tool for students and everyone else. For example, it shows us the risks of eating fast food, specifically McDonald’s fast food. Morgan Spurlock ate nothing but McDonald’s fast food for thirty days straight. He gained 25 pounds and also doubled his chances for heart disease. It took Morgan 14 months to lose his extra weight and he said it was nothing close to being easy. In addition, this movie shows the ways schools are affecting obesity in their students. Vending machines with pop are one of the main reasons. Some schools have banned soda vending machines and even prohibited students from bringing soda. Furthermore, Super-Size Me gives awareness about the consumption of fast food. Forty percent of American meals are eaten out of the house; that is about 121,623,890 people! Because of fast food restaurants, sixty percent of Americans, about 182,435,834 people, are either overweight or obese. 3 This documentary film shares many interesting facts. For instance, the people of America eat more than 1,000,000 animals hourly. Another fact is that there are only seven items on McDonald’s menu that contain absolutely no sugar. As well as McDonald’s being unhealthy, it represents 43 percent of America’s fast food market, which makes things even worse. Also, each day 1 in 4 Americans visits a fast food restaurant. 4 I think that it makes complete sense that the main cause for people being overweight and obese is the fast food industry. The food is already so fattening. On top of that, it makes a person lazy because it depresses the body and harms many of its organs. If you look back many, many years ago, weight was not such a huge issue. That is because the fast food industry was not so popular. This not only prevented people from becoming so weighty, but since they were not getting so much fat they also were active. 5Now, the question is, whose responsibility is it for Americans’ weight problems. The credit for that should go to both, the fast food industry and the general public. Yes, industry encourages the public to buy their food; they advertise through television commercials, signs, and even toys. But then again, the public is stupid enough to fall for all these advertisements. Fast food is not the only thing being advertised. There are commercials for whole-grain cereals, and articles about how to keep up a healthy lifestyle, and even free samples of fruit at the grocery store. Even so, we still tend to fall for the junk. 6Back in the 1950s, the founder of McDonald’s said, “Look after the customer, and the business will take care of itself.” This means that if the customer is convinced to buy the food then the business will be fine because it will be making money. Basically, customers are being looked after and at the same time being harmed because the food they are told to eat is only hurting their bodies. But no matter what, the business is making good movie. 7Overall, Super-Size Me teaches that fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s are extremely unhealthy. The food should be eaten very sparingly if at all. Otherwise, nutritionists advise to never eat it. It affects you in many ways, like by increasing your weight, or even heightening your chances of heart disease.someone told me to take out the 'i think' that starts the fourth paragraph. the thing is, the teacher told us to give our own opinions/personal experience in the essay. if i took out the 'i think' wouldnt it sounds just like facts? not my opinion? more

Resolved Question: How can our culture consume less junk without hurting the modern U.S. and, in turn, global economies?

We are consumers of increasingly disposable and useless stuff. Basic necessities we buy are designed to break eventually so we will have to buy new things. I wish things were more simple. Modern consumption is inefficient, bad for the environment, and in my opinion bad for culture. The United States economy has, however, grown to its vast size through this industrial tradition. We, as citizens, have become advertising targets everywhere. The current recession has generated much fear in Americans who really don't know much about it. Where can I, as a progressive, turn to in order to find ways to consume less crap while helping the economy to thrive? more

Resolved Question: is it harmful for adults to drink milk?

yesterday at the university we were talking about dairy products such as milk and cheese i said that in our country avarage consumption of milk is very low in comparison with other countries and we everybody agreed that milk is very useful and we must drink 2-3 glasses a day to remain healthy but our teacher took me aback when he said diary products our just garbage and a never use it he said human is kind of animal and we have evolved from a creature which has been a animal. if you look at other animals for example a cow you never see that they never feed their babies with milk more than six month or at most1 year, because automatically they stop producing milk and their babies dont need milk. and now days factories are advertise on milk and say it is very useful while they use special devices for sucking milk out of udder, and because it is not natural its useless. what do u think? i want you to tell me if u can prove him wrong so that i can continue this debate tomorrow in to convince him that he is wrong more

Voting Question: Why are there ads avertising the "dangers" of marijuana use, but no ads for the DANGERS alcohol?

Of course there are commercials about drunk driving, but what about the other dangers? Such as: Alcohol consumption is associated with a number of physical and social problems including About 2/3 of violent behaviors on campus Almost half of all physical injuries About 1/3 of all emotional difficulties among students Just under 30% of all academic problems $15 billion in health care costs (12% of total adult) In the short run, physical problems include reduced physical coordination reduced mental alertness, poor decision making, staggering, slurred speech, double vision, mood swings, unconsciousness OVERDOSE Long term chronic consumption of high levels of alcohol leads to higher risk for heart disease for liver disease, circulatory problems, peptic ulcers, various forms of cancer, irreversible brain damage Of course if you don't drink too much that will probably not happen, but they don't tell none of that stuff on TV, do they? All they do is demonize Marijuana (Actually that's not even the plants name, the name "Marijuana" was used to cause fear in the American Population) they say it'll make you stupid, It'll cause brain damage (Which is a big lie, the experiment which pointed that Marijuana causes brain damage was done like this: The scientists placed masks that pumped Marijuana smoke into the monkeys' airways, after 90 days, the monkeys were reported to have severe brain damage, but what they didn't tell you was that they pumped marijuana smoke only, no oxygen no nothing, just marijuana smoke, [4 minutes of lack of oxyge in the brain, causes ireversible brain damege]). Cannabis is not a bad drug. But going back to the Question, why are there ads advertising the "dangers" of marijuana but nothing about the alcohol's health dangers? more

Resolved Question: Pills made from soy that eliminates leg pain from heart disease?

I'm trying to figure out the pills that are new, possibly, and are advertised in magazines sent out in mail. Leg pain is due to the low supply of oxygen because of the heart. This causes many problems for the present and future of the person with heart disease. The pills are made from soy. In the magazine, an article talks about how Japan has the oldest people on earth because of their great health. Their excellent health is due to the large consumption of soy from foods and drinks. Soy can be used for many meical and dietary purposes, which is why the pills work (i hope). Please, if anyone knows what these pills are then answer my question! I am tired of having painful legs especially during the night time. I am also a very young adult, so the pills aren't just for elders, but many of them have already tried and said that it worked wonders. I'm sure the pills aren't called Quanine or however you spell it. Thank you very much for your answers!! more

Resolved Question: please to correct my texte i'm french?

Advertising and me Advertising is omnipresent in today life. To launch a product, sell it, corporates resort to advertising. Adervertising executives design commercial or slogans in order to target people. Even thought in the same a lot of people like ads because it permit to inform people of new thing. For my part, I can't stand adervtising particularly on TV and radio because channels interrupt programmes to broadcast their ads. It is getting on my nerves! I don't listen some radio station like NRJ because of excessive ads. They lost a listener. Adervtising causes, moreover, a serious problem of excessive consumption in Martinique. Besides, the billboards settled down near roads is not going to settle the probleme. It defaces the landscape and causes a visual pollution. Resolved Question: Can you help to correct my texte, please (i am french)?

Thanks so much, Alcohol and Tobacco Companies effect on Teens It is unethical for alcohol and tobacco companies to market to consumers who cannot legally purchase their products and this practice needs to be banned. Alcohol and tobacco companies should not target consumers who cannot legally purchase their products. Why encourage an illegal and deadly act in American society? American teens are overwhelmed and bombarded with advertisements like theses everyday. Years ago in generations past tobacco and alcohol companies did not advertise to young people as much as they do in today’s day in age (Alcohol Opposing Viewpoints 52). Back then children would not dare pick up an alcoholic beverage or cigarette in fear of their parent’s catching them with it. That is not the case with teens today. Children years ago were scared of what their parents thought of them and their parents had more authority over them then parents to today. Back in the 1940’s and 1950’s parents were solely parents to their children where as today many parents try to become their child’s friend and forgot they are also their parent and therefore have to act and take on the responsibilities of one. There are several reasons why teenagers are not the same as they were when our parents were children. With simple research these and so many other questions can be answered. First and foremost over the years society has made it acceptable for teens to smoke and drink at a young and younger age. Many say if it is not hurting them why is it not ok. What many do not know is both alcohol and tobacco consumption effect the body and mind of a person in many different and at times deadly ways. Parents tend to see drinking and occasional bingeing as a rite of passage rather than a deadly round of Russian roulette (Aretha 83). Cigarettes are one of the most heavily advertised products in America. Of every 100,000 fifteen-year old smokers, tobacco will prematurely kill at least 20,000 before the age of seventy (Hayley 16). The tobacco industry spends almost four billion dollars per year touting their dangerous products. Most teens view cigarettes as having freedom and sexual maturity. The best way to prevent teens from smoking, drinking and viewing it as a good thing is to shop making it attractive to teens. Teens like to act like they are someone special and dangerous. By smoking and drinking they can act out on those feelings. Tobacco and alcohol is attractive to teens because it is illegal and most teens feel like by drinking or smoking they are rebelling and going against what their parents and society wants them to do. The thought of going against what their parents, schools and society is alluring to them and makes them keep wanting to do it over and over again. Tobacco and alcohol companies rank among the top five advertisers in magazines and newspapers (Alcohol opposing Viewpoints 80). Many of these advertisements are seen everyday by under aged teens all over the world. It has been proven the most advertised tobacco and alcohol companies have the highest sales amongst young people (Teenagers Exposed to Alcohol Ads Drink More 21-22). The more they advertise there product the more people would buy it and that includes underage teens. Some will say the use of tobacco and alcohol is part of growing up and becoming an adult but this is a lie. Many young people go through their teenage years never taking a sip of alcohol or taking one puff of a cigarette. Theses teens are very far and few between. Teens look at the use of tobacco and alcohol as a cool thing to do and a way to become like their peers and because of the impact peer pressure has on teens today (Hick 17-18). The age when teens are taking their first drink of alcohol has become lower and lower each passing year. Alcohol consumption has even begun with children in middle school. In one study of twelfth-graders, 52% of boys reported using alcohol in the last thirdly days. 45% of twelfth-grade girls reported using alcohol in the last thirdly days (Aretha 17). Alcohol companies know teens are affected by peer pressure and a majority of those that they give the message do not smoke to will probably end up smoking just for the simple fact that they were told not to and the teen is a rebellious sort. They do just the opposite of what they are told to do. It is all about money Another thing teens are influenced by are their parents. Even through most will say otherwise, teens do in fact look to their parents as examples and that includes when it comes to alcohol and the use of tobacco. As long as adults smoke in large numbers, teenagers around them will take up smoking and that includes teens who have parents that smoke. One UK study shows, that youths whoSorry I was wondering why it looked so short. I guess I used up all the characters. Sorry! more

Resolved Question: Can someone help me with these critical thinking problems?? I'm lost!?

1) For each of the passages below, determine if the passage expresses an argument. If a passage expresses an argument then underline the conclusion and put (parentheses around the premises). Indicate whether the argument is deductive or inductive and give a reason for your answer (e.g., "probably" occurred in the conclusion or the argument has the form of a categorical syllogism). If a passage does not express an argument then state "no argument.". 1.1) Certainly, the Federal Government should eliminate affirmative action since this country is founded on a principle of equal treatment and affirmative action violates equal treatment. 1.2) Do CEOs believe it is important that all business graduates they hire have some education in the international aspects of business? To find out, we surveyed the CEOs of Forbes's "100 Largest Multinational Firms" and Fortune's "America's 50 Biggest Exporters." We found that: (1) Seventy-nine percent believed that all business majors should take an introduction to international business course. (2) About 70 percent felt that business graduates' expertise in foreign languages, international aspects of functional areas (e.g., marketing, finance), and business, human, or political relations outside the United States is an important consideration when making hiring decisions. (3) A majority of the respondents believed that a number of courses in the international business curriculum (e.g., international marketing, international finance, export-import, international management) are relevant to their companies. It appears from the study that the CEOs of the major American firms doing business overseas are convinced that the business graduates they hire should have some education in the international aspects of business. 1.3) Unlike others holocausts, the African holocaust has yet to be officially acknowledged as such. It has been referred to as many things such as "The Slavery Question," but never as a holocaust. However, there is no denying that a holocaust is exactly what it was. Official acknowledgment and redress for atrocities have been afforded other groups such as Japanese Americans, Native Americans, and Jews after the war with Germany. Similarly, therefore, official acknowledgment and redress for the African holocaust is due to African Americans. 1.4) If you procrastinate then you lose valuable time for working on your assignments. If you lose valuable time for working on your assignments then you will do poorly in the course. So, if you procrastinate then you will do poorly in the course. 1.5) Repeal of the drug-prohibition laws will probably not lead to tremendous increases in drug-abuse levels. The reasons for this come from our past experience with alcohol and tobacco abuse. We now know, for instance, that consumption taxes are an effective method of limiting consumption rates. We also know that restrictions and bans on advertising, as well as a campaign of negative advertising, can make a difference. There is even some evidence that government-sponsored education programs about the dangers of cigarette smoking have deterred many children from beginning to smoke. 1.6) If an exchange of goods is voluntary then it must meet three conditions: both buyer and seller understand what they are giving up, neither party is coerced into the exchange, and both buyer and seller are able to make rational decisions about costs and benefits. 1.7) Few of us have heard of Harriet Wilson, the first African-American woman novelist, or Mourning Dove, the first Native American woman to write both a novel and an autobiography. This is explained by the fact that few of their contemporaries were willing to buy their books and the books quickly went out of print. 1.8) Since the only duty of a business manager is to maximize the shareholder's return on her investment, and maximizing the shareholder's return on her investment can only be accomplished by maximizing profits, it definitely follows that the only duty of business managers is to maximize profits. 1.9) Leo Dolinski purchased a bottle of "Squirt," a soft drink, from a vending machine at a Sea and Ski plant, his place of employment. Dolinski opened the bottle and consumed part of its content. He immediately became ill. Upon examination, it was found that the bottle contained the decomposed body of a mouse, mouse hair, and mouse feces. Dolinski suffered physical and mental distress from consuming the decomposed mouse and now possesses an aversion to soft drinks. The Shoshone Coca-Cola Bottling Company manufactured and distributed the Squirt bottle. Dolinski has sued Shoshone using the doctrine of strict liability. The doctrine of strict liability holds that if a seller is engaged in the business of selling a product, the product reaches a consumer without substantial change in the condition in which it is sold, and the product is defective then the seller is liable for any physical harm caused more

Resolved Question: What do you think is the definition of dangerous over-consumption of alcohol?

I'm an advertising major at a university in WV. I'm conducting some research for a project and well I'm just curious, in your opinion what do you consider to be the dangerous over-consumption of alcohol? And what do you think the definition is for binge drinking? I mean we've all done it (well most have at some point in time). I really want to know these answers from the perspectives of college students. What is your BEST drunk story? more

Resolved Question: Please help with my critical thinking questions?

Resolved Question: Can you correct my speech please??? thanks?

Pop Art It is a new artistic concept, is the essence of an extensive cultural movement of the sixties. It has a connection with the state of mind of a period that is the answer to the media slogans whose histories made history and whose models influence in the people. The popular culture and the way of life are associated with the sixties. This cultural demonstration was purely western: the USA was the center of this program. The pop art artistically analyzes the fact that the World has been growing by the capitalist and technological conditions of the industrial society. The beginnings of the Pop Art were in New York and in England. The political and economic stabilization in the postwar period led to a “reassessment” of something that in general is designed as popular. Psychologists studied the societal consumption and created a marketing system to take a commercial advantage of the customers’ wishes. Thus, getting closer to the consumers and buyers, creating products for costumer demand and media campaigns. This affected individual behaviors and in the interpersonal relationships. Everyone could adore collecting knickknacks, reading comics, eating hot-dogs, drinking Coca-Cola, etc. Pop Art is based on this. The themes of Pop Art are based in everyday life. Pop Art captures the realities of a period and the cultural change, the predisposition of a new generation, and this culture transforms into the style and the art. People felt free to express themselves in this Cultural Revolution. This led to new fads and forms of expression. It is almost ridiculous that artists, critics and educators allow themselves to be surrounded bye the trivial culture and crammed their houses with popular and nostalgic art, relics, and publicity symbols, playing with banality and enjoyed reading comics, science fiction literature, cheap novels and TV mania. The music and the lyrics of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones translated the state of mind, the euphoria, the nerve, the power and the realities of the young people of the sixties. That’s why artists like Peter Blake, Richard Hamilton and Andy Warhol designed disc jackets for musical groups like The Beatles and Velvet Underground of course using the Pop Art style. Pop Art is expressed through painting, sculpture, music, cinema, photography and literature. Pop Art paintings have many styles, for example some of them are based on comics, other are made of a combination of collage and painting. Some of them are made at different levels. Most of the sculptures are based in things that we normally see, like typewriters, cigarettes, clothing, toilets, or even tables. My conclusion is that Pop art is an every day item that is drawn in a brash and colorful way. It is inspired by comic strips, advertising, and popular entertainment. I like this kind of arte because I think that is an art that don’t follow all the rules and we can see the reality of our world. i am mexican so i am just learning english thank you more

Resolved Question: Should we ban deceptive advertising for milk?

Large scale and reputable scientific studies show health dangers associated with dairy consumption. Studies show that there are better sources of calcium and other nutrients that do not have the side effects of milk protein. As a society, should we ban deceptive claims about the benefit of milk? Didn't we eliminate advertising for tobacco? Assuming the research is solid, isn't a ban on advertising an important social good? http://www.thierrysouccar.com/foreign_rights/nutrition/milk_lies_and_propaganda_by_thierry_souccar_msc "In this book you will learn: - how the milk industry made us believe that dairy calcium is the only important nutrient for strong bones ; - why milk drinking countries have record-high hip fractures; - why higher dairy consumption does not prevent bone fractures in most studies ; - why prostate cancer is more common among men regularly consuming dairy ; - why milk is suspected to fuel the child diabetes epidemy; - why calcium won’t make you less fat despite industry claims; - why calcium requirements were exaggerated and how much calcium you really need; - how to prevent osteoporosis without dairy." more

Resolved Question: Vegan & Vegetarian Men - how do you feel about Burger King?

Okay, serious question. Burger King's advertising strategy appears to focus very heavily on the supposed link between consumption of meat and masculinity. They've even just brought out an aftershave that's supposed to smell of "seduction, with a hint of flame broiled beef". Do you feel it's unfair of them to cast the aspersion that by chosing not to eat meat you're some how less of a man? I'm asking as a Vegan by the way.Just want to say I'm not overly worried about it, just curious as to how others react to it. I just don't think it's right that eating huge slices of cow should, in the minds of some people, become synonomous with manhood. more
