Now Answers to Voting Slogans Questions

Open Question: Does anyone really believe voting Republican will lead to 'Fiscal Responsibility and Smaller Government'?

If so, why do you believe this, is it because it's their campaign slogan, or because of history. Also, try not to mention Democrats or Obama in your answer if you can. more

Resolved Question: Will Obama become so desperate by 2012 that his campaign slogan will be "vote Democrat or your a racist"?

Voting Question: Obama's pledge to NOT raise taxes on anyone making under $250K, was that a lie?

Did he intentionally lie about taxes? Or was he just so inexperienced that he had no idea how to figure out how much revenue was going to be needed to compensate for the massive spending he intended to do? Either way, it seems people got snookered into voting for a slogan, instead of a leader, right? First, here's Obama saying that exact thing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8erePM8V5U Then here's the truth about what is coming our way starting next year... excerpt... The lowest bracket for the personal income tax, for instance, moves up 50% — to 15% from 10%. The next lowest bracket — 25% — will rise to 28%, and the old 28% bracket will be 31%. At the higher end, the 33% bracket is pushed to 36% and the 35% bracket becomes 39.6%. But the damage doesn't stop there. The marriage penalty also makes a comeback, and the capital gains tax will jump 33% — to 20% from 15%. The tax on dividends will go all the way from 15% to 39.6% — a 164% increase. Other tax hikes include: halving the child tax credit to $500 from $1,000 and fixing the standard deduction for couples at the same level as it is for single filers. Letting the Bush cuts expire will cost taxpayers $115 billion next year alone, according to the Congressional Budget Office, and $2.6 trillion through 2020. But even more tax headaches lie ahead. This "second wave" of hikes, as Americans for Tax Reform puts it, are designed to pay for ObamaCare and include: The Medicine Cabinet Tax. Americans, says ATR, "will no longer be able to use health savings account, flexible spending account, or health reimbursement pretax dollars to purchase nonprescription, over-the-counter medicines (except insulin)." The HSA Withdrawal Tax Hike. "This provision of ObamaCare," according to ATR, "increases the additional tax on nonmedical early withdrawals from an HSA from 10% to 20%, disadvantaging them relative to IRAs and other tax-advantaged accounts, which remain at 10%." Brand Name Drug Tax. Makers and importers of brand-name drugs will be liable for a tax of $2.5 billion in 2011. The tax goes to $3 billion a year from 2012 to 2016, then $3.5 billion in 2017 and $4.2 billion in 2018. Beginning in 2019 it falls to $2.8 billion and stays there. And who pays the new drug tax? Patients, in the form of higher prices. Economic Substance Doctrine. ATR reports that "The IRS is now empowered to disallow perfectly legal tax deductions and maneuvers merely because it judges that the deduction or action lacks 'economic substance.'" A third and final (for now) wave, says ATR, consists of the alternative minimum tax's widening net, tax hikes on employers and the loss of deductions for tuition: • The Tax Policy Center says that the failure to index the AMT will subject 28.5 million families to the tax when they file next year, up from 4 million this year. • "Small businesses can normally expense (rather than slowly deduct, or 'depreciate') equipment purchases up to $250,000," says ATR. "This will be cut all the way down to $25,000. Larger businesses can expense half of their purchases of equipment. In January of 2011, all of it will have to be 'depreciated.'" • According to ATR, there are "literally scores of tax hikes on business that will take place," plus the loss of some tax credits. The research and experimentation tax credit will be the biggest loss, "but there are many, many others. Combining high marginal tax rates with the loss of this tax relief will cost jobs." • The deduction for tuition and fees will no longer be available and there will be limits placed on education tax credits. Teachers won't be able to deduct their classroom expenses and employer-provided educational aid will be restricted. Thousands of families will no longer be allowed to deduct student loan interest. Then there's the tax on Americans who decline to buy health care insurance (the tax the administration initially said wasn't a tax but now argues in court that it is) plus a 3.8% Medicare tax beginning in 2013 on profits made in real estate transactions by wealthier Americans. Not all Americans may fully realize what's in store come Jan. 1. But they should have a pretty good idea by the mid-term elections, and members of Congress might take note of our latest IBD/TIPP Poll (summarized above). http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article/541131/201007211841/The-Tax-Tsunami-On-The-Horizon.aspx more

Voting Question: Baby Picture Contest?

I'm entering my son's picture into a cutest baby contest and I need a good "vote for me" slogan. His name is David and he's two months old. :) more

Resolved Question: Okay, one more time, can anyone give me one reason to vote Republican?

That doesn't include: - Not Democrat - Vague campaign slogans like "For smaller Government" "For Fiscal Responsibility" Something specific like 'wants to introduce comprehensive nuclear energy bill', and then provide a link to said proposal. Republicans seem to be running on vague terms, and anti-Democratic policies, but have nothing of their own. How can anyone vote for no substance?"To SAVE AMERICA from Obama..." I'll file that under 'Not Democrat' more

Resolved Question: What will the Republican slogan be in November?

Resolved Question: How can politicians be satisfied with their career?

They are always asking people for money. $$$ donate to my campaign. $$$ Doesn't it feel a little degrading to ask people for money? Don't they ever get tired of begging for donations? The only way I would run for office is if I had my own money to fund my own campaign. My slogan would be, "I'm not asking for your money, I'm asking for your vote." and most people who are able to run for office are already wealthy to begin with....... and could perhaps make a lot more money in the private sector........ what brings them into politics? Do they honestly care about helping people? Then why are they so money-greedy? Even John & Cindy McCain who have $100+ million were asking people to DONATE DONATE DONATE.same goes for John & Teresa Kerry....they have $1 billion and they were still harassing people for donations. more

Resolved Question: Does the 14 Characteristics of Facism perfectly describe republicans in your mind?

- Fourteen Characteristics of Fascism - 1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays. Republican- America is Christian, wave the flag, god bless America, slogans with flags and patriotism much higher than is needed almost to an arrogant level, support wars and troops and Israel no matter what its about even if it goes against our national interests . 2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc. Republican- Pro death penalty, against gay anti discrimination laws and even often partner benifits even if they are not married (because the republicans so strongly speak out against equal rights here) tougher immigration standards, less wellfare and focus on the homeless and poor or unemployed, opposes livable wage legislation, more likely to support torture in wars, and fear of gays, muslims, and any other religion, not to mention not alloting the same freedoms to other religions like setting up charities, public speech, air time, or representation and boycotting in extreme cases any buisnesses that are explicitly not Christian. 3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc. Republicans, liberals "destroying" America, socialists, Muslims, Atheists, Satanists, etc 4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized. Republicans- You are anti American if you don't support the troops by giving more money to them to fight "Muslim terrorists" 5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution. Republicans- All of the above is their most known position they are all about the above. Just look up American Family Association, Focus on The Family, Christian Coalition, and the way they vote on issues. 6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common. Republicans support stronger government control of the media even cable and satellite Radio/TV in the name of family values, and they are often trying to pull stuff like after 9/11 that is even the least bit offensive, they wan't to silence liberal or Muslim, or Atheist voices, and anyone who disagrees with them. 7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses. Republicans- Terrorists, Muslim America claim, Persecution, constantly overplaying something etc. 8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions. Republicans- Christian America, 9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite. Republicans- Support corporations more than individual private businesses, pander to the ritch and tax the middle class and poor more. 10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed. Republicans- More restrictions on Unions, opposing livable wages laws, and supporting discrimination against gays in policy and often boycotting stores that don't agree and treat gays equally etc. 11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors a11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked. Look at strongly republican areas vs strong liberal/democrat towns and notice which has focus on things like the arts and higher education and freedom of expression etc. Also look at censorship of art that is supported by republicans, and their attitudes towards mainstream universities, and advocating "school choice" so they can teach their kids what they wan't and brainwash them etc. 12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fato enforce laws. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations. Republicans- Stronger punishment for various crimes, death penalty, Christian America, detain Muslim "terrorists" etc. 13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections. Voting Question: Why do liberals fall so easily for empty slogans like "hope and change" & "Yes we can!"?

Why don't they look beneath the surface of these and analyze exactly WHO is saying this, and what past record that politician has of actually accomplishing those goals. Why are the sweet whispers of a Chicago thug more than enough to get their votes? more

Voting Question: Doesn't the Libertarian movement champion the best ideas of both the left and right?

I'm truly against federal government over-use and wasteful spending from both main parties. I like how the libertarian party is truly committed to lower government waste and spending while also allowing social freedom for example being against the drug war, allowing states to decide the abortion issue on their own (federal government doesn't interfere), and ending the Iraq war and generally against warhawk behavior in general militarily. Many US libertarians though some would assume we're in favor of allowing illegal immigration because of the assumption that it is free market between the employer and employee, many of us are actually against allowing porous borders besides from the national security risk, many illegals and their children/families generally use in net more government services than they contribute. The most well known outspoken libertarian in US government is Ron Paul. Though part of the Republican party his views are more in line with the Libertarian Party. Ron Paul rejects universal health care, believing that the more government interferes in medicine, the higher prices rise and the less efficient care becomes. He points to how many people today are upset with the HMO system, but few people realize that HMOs came about because of a federal mandate in 1973. Ron Paul endorses defederalization of the health care system. Paul also states that he has an opposition to virtually all federal interference with the market process. Paul's campaign slogan for 2004 was "The Taxpayers' Best Friend!" He would completely eliminate the income tax by shrinking the size and scope of government to what he considers its Constitutional limits, noting that he has never voted to approve an unbalanced budget; he has observed that even scaling back spending to 2000 levels eliminates the need for the 42% of the budget accounted for by individual income tax receipts. Generally libertarianism allows for some of the social liberalism commonly associated with the left combined with a good sense of fiscal conservatism and reason. For example, Ron Paul a well known figure in the movement in the US, voted in support of HR 5136, an amendment that leads to a full repeal of "don't ask, don't tell," on 27 May 2010. On abortion debate, while personally deeply against abortion, Paul has said that the ninth and tenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution do not grant the federal government any authority to legalize or ban abortion, stating that "the federal government has no authority whatsoever to involve itself in the abortion issue." On the drug issue, Paul contends that prohibition of drugs is ineffective and advocates ending the War on Drugs. Paul favors the use of marijuana as a medical option. He was cosponsor of H.R. 2592, the States' Rights to Medical Marijuana Act. He is currently a supporter of the Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults Act of 2008. more

Resolved Question: If America were to leave Iraq today what would happen?

Hi, I've been going to too many funerals over the past years where young wives bravely carry infants of "heroes" or who carry his unborn child in their womb. Some die from friendly fire, many, I was told, by a military representative sent to accompany the dead body and attend the funeral in uniform to show respect for the soldier's supreme sacrifice for his nation. 4 This war is causing so many fatherless children! Children who the rest of us will financially support throughout their maladjusted lives, although their fathers would have loved to live out their lives nurturing them. They were barely old enough to vote and had much to live for. true, many of these young men joined the military to support their families because they had no other job opportunities, but they were also patriots. A majority of Americans don't live near bases like I do. They only read or hear about things second hand from the papers, internet or news. So they end up parroting patriotic propaganda, a word defined by Webter's dictionary : Main Entry: pro·pa·gan·da Pronunciation: \ˌprä-pə-ˈgan-də, ˌprō-\Function: noun Etymology: New Latin, from Congregatio de propaganda fide Congregation for propagating the faith, organization established by Pope Gregory XV †1623 2 : the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person 3 : ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one's cause or to damage an opposing cause; also : a public action having such an effect> pro·pa·gan·dist \-dist\ noun or adjective — pro·pa·gan·dis·tic \-ˌgan-ˈdis-tik\ adjective — pro·pa·gan·dis·ti·cal·ly \-ti-k(ə-)lē\ adverb Responsible American voters, must take care not to be swayed by the propaganda flooding the medias. We need to seek truth by looking at hard cold facts. We must not be swayed by slogans which are really propaganda used to manipulate our emotions. "God bless America." or "Iraqi Freedom." Sounds great! I'd be for that. but wait. What is REALLY going on? http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/870.html Obviously slogans can be shallow misrepresentations to rally the support from the simple minded and gullible. I always like the one that is the opposite of "My country, right or wrong" Instead I prefer, "My country when right to keep right and when wrong to make right." . And here we read about a young man who becomes a terrorist intending to extinguish the lives of as many American men women and chidren as possible because he, like the soldier I spoke with, believes "Iraqi Freedom" is a misrepresentation. And he will go to prison for life or die by lethal injection because of this conviction rather than plead innocent because he is not a liar. He is an idealist. And he believes America is the bad guy. He won't pretend otherwise. No. Not even for his life.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_times_square_car_bomb About 2 weeks ago a 22 year old youth, an American enlisted soldier, who had returned two days before from an 8 month stint in Iraq said to me pretty much the same thing as this young terrorist, or Muslim soldier as he calls himself, said to the judge pretty much the American soldiers coming from Iraq are telling me, "I know one thing for sure. We have no business being there." Here both a terrorist and an enlisted American soldier are saying the same thing. This upsets me. I wonder, is this the statement of someone blind to the wisdom of the elected making sound decisions or of someone who actually knows what he's talking about? Some years back, on Halloweeen, a few hundred drunken U.S. soldiers on r& r (rest and recuperation) booed the costume that was the statue of Liberty when the winner was selected by the loudest clapping. That costume is really good. They weren't booing the costume but what it stood for. Guys who usually wore uniforms were booing themselves! I was there, in fact, I was the patriot in the Statue of liberty costume. Liberty? America? Mineral rights our young men are dying for to make them hate the symbol of their own country? If our enlisted men boo our statue of liberty, is it not almost the same as booing the American flag? What does this mean? What is this country coming to? Now I personally thought we need to be there to protect the Iraqis, particularly the ones who wanted a democracy, so they wouldn't get murdered once America left for having supported us. Not long ago, like 2 days ago, I read an article about an Iraqi translator who had worked for the u.S. was murdered in his sleep by his son and nephew for not quitting his job working for the U.S. intelligence. If it is true that we 700 bases around the world and our symbol is the golden eagle a more

Resolved Question: Who was Khan Ghufar Khan aka Bacha Khan?

He was a staunch supporter of Indian National Congress, he was termed as Frontiers Ghandi, Since his area of influence was Pushtun areas which were muslim dominant areas so he always knew that even in combined india his political stature wont get affected.Since he was a muslim and pushtun who would stand a chance infront of him even if he had nothing to offer, no hindu would stand a chance what so ever. The only alteration to his political stauture would occuer if there was a political force to emerge with whome ppl of the area can assosiate with, Indian National Congress could not be that force since it was a hindu dominated party and pushtuns had nothing to assosiate themselves with it, so which other force could win their assosiation? obviously it was Muslim Leauge. So this made him natural alliant of Indian National Congress and a natural opponent of Muslim leauge. And he was very consious of this fact. He never bycotted refrendum initially, when refrendum was announced initially to counter the growing influence of Muslim Leauge in pushtun areas he invited Jwahar Lal Nehru the leader of indian national congress to the NWFP to motivate pushtuns to vote against muslim leauge and pakistan, but when nehru started to address pushtuns and as soon as he asked them to vote against pakistan the pushtuns started throwing stones at nehru and he got injured and he had to be rushed out of the area, at this point the intentions of pushtuns were became clear to every body including ghaffar khan, so at this stage when political defeat became obviously apparent to ghaffar khan he twisted and bycotted the refrendum. But the very important point to mention here is that when ghaffar khan bycotted the refrendum the stance that he took was that since its pre-precieved in other muslim dominate areas that they would be included in pakistan why is the same rule not applied here in pushtun areas ,and that they should be automatically included in pakistan instead ofconducting the refrendum. he never opposed the question of refrendum but boycate was necessary for him since had he participated and lost in refrendum it would bring out the changed political dynamic tilting from of him to muslim leauge out in open so to avoid it he bycotted the refrendum, other wise why would u bycotte a refrendum conducted by a neutral party in this case british if u had any hope to win it.On the other hand muslim leauge wanted the refrendum so that this issue could be solved once and for all and to stop any future blackmail by him. But when he understood that refrendum was an obvious occurance now he changed his stance again and raised the slogan of pushtunistan which afgans try to use for their malicious designs. the important point here is that Ghafar khan never raised the slogan of joining with afghanistan he raised the slogan of an independent pushtun state because he knew joining afghanistan would be a political sucide for him as political elite in afghanistan will overtake him and his slogan was over whelmingly rejected by pushtuns. In his own diares he writes the turn out was 53%, now in 2008 in american elections which has a strong demcratic base the turn out was 63% ,here we r talking about 53% in 1947 in an area with no democratic base, and in which participant were mostly male voters when ratio of popultion of male to female is about 50% each. more

Resolved Question: Is the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society an eco-terrorism group?

SEA SHEPHERD’S VIOLENT HISTORY 1977: Founding member of Greenpeace, Paul Watson, expelled from the organisation after a campaign against sealing during which he threw the sealers’ clubs and skins into the sea. 1977: Watson establishes Sea Shepherd organisation. States that Sea Shepherd is not a protest organization. “We are [a] self-appointed policing organization given credibility by the terms of the United Nations Earth Charter of 1982.” 1978: Watson admits to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) programme As It Happens that his work is aimed at raising funds for his organisation, Sea Shepherd. Watson: “You see, the seal is very easy to exploit as an image. We have posters, we have buttons; we have shirts ... all of which portray the head of the baby seal with tears coming out of its eyes. Baby seals are always crying because the salt tears keep their eyes from freezing. But they have this image of ... they are baby animals; they are beautiful. And because of that, coupled with the horror of the sealer hitting them over the head with a club, it is an image which just goes right to the heart of animal lovers all over North America.” 1979: A Sea Shepherd vessel rams the whaling vessel “Sierra”, causing considerable damage. “Sierra” survives attack. 1980: The IWC at its meeting in Brighton, United Kingdom, assigns high-level protection to two Canadian Government delegates after Watson threatened to kill them for voting against a moratorium on sperm whales. Delegates given Royal Canadian Mounted Police protection until their return home to Canada. 1980: The “Sierra” is sunk in Lisbon harbour. Sea Shepherd claims responsibility. Investigation shows limpet mines used to blow up the vessel. 1981: Sea Shepherd claims responsibility for the sinking of the two whaling vessels, Ibsa I and Ibsa II, in the Spanish harbour of Viga. 1983: Paul Watson and “Sea Shepherd” vessel engineer Paul Pezwick, tried and convicted in a Quebec, Canada, court for “interfering in the annual seal hunt in the Gulf of St. Lawrence”. Trial followed arrest in March 1983 when “Sea Shepherd” vessel boarded by Canadian police. “Sea Shepherd” fortified including electric barbed wire around the deck’s edges. Seventeen crew arrested. Watson and three others flee across ice to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, but caught and arrested. Watson charged additionally with piloting a ship in a dangerous manner, intimidation of the sealers and being unlawfully within a half mile of the seal hunt – a violation of the Seal Protection Regulations. Watson sentenced to 15 months imprisonment. 1983: In retaliation for Watson’s arrest by Canadian police, animal rights extremists slash car tires and spray paint slogans on walls of buildings in the inner city of Quebec. “Fisheries Murder Seals” and “Set Paul Watson Free” slogans spray painted on the Department of Fisheries and Oceans offices in Keele Street. Animal Liberation Front delivers letter to the Quebec Star newspaper admitting causing several thousand dollars worth of damage to the Department’s Keele Street offices.1986: Sea Shepherd attempts to stop Faroe Islands pilot whale harvest. Using rifles, Sea Shepherd activists shoot at Faroe Islands police in an attempt to sink their rubber dinghies. The vessel “Sea Shepherd” was ordered to leave Faroese territorial waters. The police report of 7 October 1986 states: “One of the rubber dinghies was attacked directly by a “Speed Line” line rifle. The attack ... endangered the lives of the police crewmembers ... and signal flares containing phosphorous was thrown at the police. At a later stage the Sea Shepherd used “toads” (rotating iron spikes, pointed and sharp at both ends) against the rubber dinghies ... petrol was poured over the side of the ship and signal flares were thrown from the “Sea Shepherd” in an attempt to set the petrol on fire.” 1986: Sea Shepherd claims responsibility for the sinking of two whaling vessels in Reykjavik, Iceland, and for malicious damage to a whaling station. (This act of violence was carried out after Iceland stopped whaling in line with the IWC moratorium on commercial whaling.) Attack carried out by Sea Shepherd members Rodney A. Coronado and David Howitt. (Coronado linked to Animal Liberation Front and arrested eight years later by United States FBI for his part in an ALF attack on Michigan State University research laboratory. Charges included use of an explosive device, theft and arson.) 1988: Paul Watson returns in Iceland demanding to be held responsible for the sinking of the whaling vessels in Reykjavik in 1986. (He is arrested and held for questioning and told he could face several years’ imprisonment. In a press release, the Icelandic Ministry of Justice stated: “At questioning, Paul Watson has admitted that he has given some remarks that connect him with the sabotage, but in spite of this he now claims that he neither took part in the planning nor the execution of the sabotage.”) There was no evidence in more

Resolved Question: Does anyone have a catchy sloagan for the name Noelle?

My girlfriend is running for student congress at my school. Her name is noelle (pronounced like the name Noel) and we have been trying for the past 2 weeks to think of a catchy short slogan that involves her name. The rules are stupid for the election, you don't run for a specific position, you run for office itself not a position. Later on you're given a position based on how many votes you got. So can anyone help fast! more

Resolved Question: what is funny campaign slogan I can use?

ok, so i am running for band president for my senior year of high school. I am a female and 17 years old. my opponent is very funny and charismatic and naturally is guaranteed votes. i have a great sens of humor myself, but unlike him, i do not have an afro or do a funny Indian accent to match my father. so, how can a funny girl get some votes? I need a hilarious slogan to "rock the vote". since i am a girl, and semi attractive, I was thinking maybe an innuendo. any ideas? Thanks in advance!oh right, I'm sorry. I play the drums. Resolved Question: Is this a good idea for a lemonade stand?

Ok, so my brother gave me the coolest and quickest way to make money over the summer. I was gonna have a lemonade stand with a few friends. We already have the stand and stuff ready. We were gonna sell lemonade and frozen cups(frozen cups are juices that u put in the freezer like kool-aid or something and it freezes. its like an icie) Lemonade was gonna be like a $1 and the frozen cups are gonna be like 50 cents. We live in vegas and its summer time so its gonna be really really hot down here. I can sell some at the pool(already talked to the manager of the complex about that, she said its a good deal) and make alot of money to buy things, donate to haiti etc. Then once we start getting a little bit more familiar and popular, we were gonna buy some little martini plastic cups, crazy straws and those cocktail umbrellas to make it look fancy and sell that for about $2. at the pool, since theres alot of people there everyday, we were gonna sell some soda because our soda machine only has like sprite, fanta, water, dr pepper, monster..i was planning on buying sodas like rootbear, sierra mist, fanta, fruit punch, mountain dew, grape fanta, ginger ale etc and sell that for $1.25(its gonna be bottles, not cans) Im from Massachusetts and there they have something like that everyday like ice cream trucks and u see like 1 or 2 people there, here in Vegas there's like 25 people at the ice cream truck so i think this will be a good opportunity. And to top it off my cute little 5 year old sister was gonna hold the sign. I thought it might persuade some people. and we were gonna sell free samples of everything to get them started. When we make even more money, we were gonna sell finger sandwiches for an appetizer for like 50 cents to a dollar. There's gonna be sweetend and un-sweetened and ice or no ice. We're gonna have alot of lemonade in this pitcher and put it in the cooler to keep it cold and fresh and glass pitcher for the selling lemonade. Plus, our name is so cool its called Lemon N' Ice and the slogan is "Betcha cant say that 5 times fast" Cool right? I'm the manager of this group because i made up the idea, My friend jake collects the money, my friend gergie passes out the drinks, my friend dameire refills the ice, my friend billy is the caller, me and my bro make the lemonade and i work at the stand and my twin sisters hold the sign up and try to persuade them to buy one or try a sample. We all chose our jobs so im not taking over or being bossy or anything. they all voted for me to be the manager since i made the idea up. Is this good enough? Tell me what i should do more or less.i live in a gated community so we have a pool. the manager even set up this little spot where we can do our thing at and no im only 12 i dont think i need a vendors license. do i? more

Resolved Question: How did they distance the Republicans from their "drill baby drill" slogan?

On October 2, 2008, at the Vice Presidential debate between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden, "drill, baby, drill" reached a new prominence. Joe Biden, referring to the energy crisis and McCain's 20 votes against funding solar and wind energy, stated that McCain thinks "the only answer is drill, drill, drill. Drill we must, but it will take 10 years for one drop of oil to come out of any of the wells that are going to be drilled." Palin responded by saying, "The chant is 'drill, baby, drill.' And that's what we hear all across this country in our rallies because people are so hungry for those domestic sources of energy to be tapped into." Republicans continued to use the slogan after the 2008 election. In 2010, however, the slogan received renewed attention because of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, a major oil spill at a BP offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico. The spill is causing extensive environmental damages and economic losses estimated in the billions of dollars. As a result, some proponents of "Drill, baby, drill" became embarrassed about their previous support. The slogan was parodied as "Spill, baby, spill". Two senior Republican Senators, Jon Kyl and Pat Roberts, made comments attempting to distance themselves and the Republican Party from the slogan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drill,_baby,_drill more

Resolved Question: Are the Republicans losing votes on three fronts?

1) Alienation of the Latin Vote across the country with the Papers Please Law in Arizona 2) Current environment impact with "Drill Baby Drill" as their slogan; while the Gulf Oil Spill in fresh in the minds of voters across the country. 3) Tea Party candidates doing better in poll numbers than the GOP Candidates. more

Resolved Question: I need help with my student council election?

Ok, so I know you would all be wondering, how can a school have an election this time of year? Truth is my school is not having an election during this time. Before the election, which is all the way in October, i want to be prepared. I'm going into seventh grade next year and I'm planning to run for vice president. Here are some of my ideas so far: we can have different themes for activity nites since they are boring. The themes are heaven and hell, the 70's, the 80's, American Idol with people actually singing, Hawaiian/the beach,Winter Wonderland, Thriller/Halloween, and maybe even candy land, with sugar free CANDY and homemade sweets of course. Also we can have a karaoke night. - To actually earn money for these, we can have car washes and bake sales, which my school doesn't have. - we can have actually HEALTHY foods at school and maybe even replace some of the ice cream with frozen yogurt. We can also get actually fresh salad, we can have a healthy challenge day for ALL grades, and we can have a recycling day on earth day where all the kids wear gloves and look for items in the school to recycle, and the class with the most recycled items will win a prize or a pizza party or something. - We can have a spirit week with pajama day, our traditional pep rally, spirit song day(the kids in the grade can form groups and make a song about our school, that too can be a contest.), crazy hair day, crazy outfit day, dress like a celebrity day, and a sports day where everyone can play games and soprts. Since my name is safaya my slogans would be, VOTE FOR SAFAYA, TRUST ME SHE DOESN"T THINK LIKE A PAPAYA A VOTE FOR ME IS VICTORY, VOTE FOR SAFAYA, TEE HEE. A SONG DURING MY SPEECH WOULD BE: FILET OF FISH THEMED LOL GIVE ME YOUR VOTE, PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR V V VOTE YOU KNOW IF IT WERE YOU STANDING ON THIS STAGE, I WOULD G GIVE YOU MY VOTE, I WOULD G GVIE YOU MY VOTE. There is one thing I am worried about. The popular kids always run and they always win, do you think people will actually vote for me? I need all the help I can get. So please give me your opinion on my ideas and any ideas you have. K thanks bye! more

Resolved Question: Are those who are solidly on the political right or left simply looking for the simplest answers?

The problem with politics is that it has simply slipped into a habit of only seeking short term gains. This is why so many people take such partisan positions. Take healthcare: Many people on the left wanted a single payer system or something similar to universal healthcare as if it were the magic bullet to all of the healthcare dilemmas in this country. Many on the right wanted tort reform and the ability for people to shop for healthcare across state lines. The ideas and viewpoints of both sides sound nice when one talks and theorizes. But when you start adding up the numbers, neither side presents any real solutions that will work. Instead they produce talking points and slogans to get people fired up. Even the policies mandated in the bill itself have little to do with rhetoric so often stated by Democratic or Republican politicians. The many leaders of the parties (including the Tea Party) need political capital so they allow their own positions to be misrepresented as long as it means more votes for their cause. The party leaders know that the real solutions are ones that are very quantitative and unexciting in nature. The problem with healthcare cannot be boiled down into a slogan. It has much to do with improper cost shifting at a macro level, performance measures that only examine processes and not outcomes, a lack of transparency, and providers competing to see who has the best radiology centers instead of which team of medical professionals produce the healthiest people at the lowest cost. Like American politics the American healthcare system is too mired in the game of capturing short term gains and is slowly sinking as it loses the big picture. If you firmly believe that it is the left or the right that is correct, have you simply bought into the slogans without actually reading all of the facts that make up the real issue? more
