I have to make an ad for an imaginary product. The name has to include a poetic device (rhyme, alliteration, allusion, etc.). I have to identify a target market (teens, grandmothers, etc.) and do the four p's-product, price, place, and promotion.

We are trying to promote real-life sex as opposed to cyber sex. You see, if protection is not used properly, a cyber baby--an artificially intelligent being with powers far greater than our own--could be born, putting all of mankind into terrible danger. In case you're not quite getting the picture here, the cyber baby would look something like this: 01100011 01112001 01100010. Please note the "2." Anyway, we are going to make ads informing the world about this potential disaster. As you all know, the slogan is crucial. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100224/ap_on_sp_ot/us_ncaa_ad_pulled
Incredibly, the NCAA has pulled a banner ad from Focus on the Family from its website because FOTF has a problem with homosexuality. The ad itself had nothing to do with homosexuality, abortion , or anything else the left finds troubling about Focus on the Family.
As the article states, "The ad in question was not about sexuality. It featured a father holding his son and the words, 'All I want for my son is for him to grow up knowing how to do the right thing.' Like the Tebow ad, it included the address of Focus on the Family's Web site and the slogan, 'Celebrate Family. Celebrate Life.'"
What could POSSIBLY be objectionable about that?! Do you seriously wonder why conservatives see colleges and universities as places kids get indoctrinated, rather than educated?grob: No, but it is comprised of administrators who obviously approve of the indoctrination.jw: The NCAA's mioney comes from member institutions, most of which are state schools. Target Audience
The Forevermark advertisement adopts numerous ideologies in order to sell their products to their selected target audience. As this company more often than not targets women as their merchandise is deigned for females this advertisement is out to break the trend. This advertisement in particular the company takes a different approach by targeting males. Originally the producer of the However, the advertisement doesn’t just target any old man, but more specifically the advertisement targets wealthy males. Therefore the advertisement is specifically targeting upper class males with a high income. One of the ideologies adopted is the assumed that wealthy people are the only people in today’s society the have the opportunities to be happy and trouble free. This is due to the fact that all of the products from the Forevermark Company are expensive. However, the price assumption is a gap filled by the viewer right from the moment the audience see the diamond bracelet displayed at the top of the advertisement. Men who want to please their partner and bring romance back into their relationship would be attracted to this advertisement. Forevermark has adapted this advertisement so that it targets married males who may have any issues with their partner. In a way the advertisement relates back traditional family ideologies, as it assumed that the husband goes off to work, and therefore has the money to be able to spoil his partner. Therefore it’s also assumed that it’s the male’s responsibility to please the females and furthermore resolve any relationship issues.
Invited Reading
The Foverevermark advertisement targets men and has many different meanings behind it. The advertisement portrays many subconscious messages to the viewer without them even realising. Just by looking at the advert the obvious invited reading is “this product is produced to make your partner/ wife appreciate you again”. This is represented by the slogan saying "Hey, what do you know, she thinks your funny again". Thus implying that the solitary way to please her is to purchase their product. The producer of the advertisement is also trying to convey the message that their product is what every women wants and that this will make them happy no matter what the circumstances. To appeal to the viewer the advertisement relates back to idea wealthy people are the only people who have the opportunity to be happy and trouble free.
Visual Techniques
Appealing to men through an advertisement with lots of details is a difficult undertaking as most men would be more interested in something simple in comparison to females who would rather the opposite. In order to fulfil the objective of targeting these men the producer of the advertisement has used many visual techniques. The advertisement is set out as a single visual with a plain black background, with only a thing white border. Using the plain black and white background the producer was targeting the selected audience. All the text is set out in bold, centred, capitalised text. A single underline is also under the text. The single picture of the diamond bracelet at the top of the page isn’t directly appealing to the men but rather just displaying the product. The plain blacks and whites may appeal to some men as if they are business men as the colours used are set out to appear professional. At the bottom of the advertisement, just above the border, the company’s slogan and logo are displayed in slightly smaller text however still follows the trend of being white and bold.
Language Techniques
The language featuring in the Fovevermark advertisement is the substantial catch phrase which is found at in the centre. The catch phrases states Hey, what do you know, she thinks your funny again". The way this catch phrase intrigues the selected target audience is through humour. As the advertisement is targeted at men the humour used in the catch phrase is more appealing to men as they will be more likely to appreciate the joke and therefore become intrigued in the advertisement. Men over women are more likely to respond to a humorous advertisement and that is why the producer has made the main focus humorous. Wit humour therefore is the main language technique used. The only other language used is the company’s slogan which is displayed at the bottom of the advertisement with the logo. It states “A diamond is forever”. Subliminal messages are conveyed from this slogan. The slogan is basically conveying the message that if their product is bought then the couple’s relationship will last forever just as the diamond will. This created desire for the product.
Gaps and Silences
The two main silences in the advertisement are the women’s point of view and middle class people. This advertiseme

I've been googling like crazy and can't find it or even mentioned of it anywhere-can someone help me out or tell me the company that made the commercial or what channel it was on or, really, anything? No, it isn't Bert and Gert, I looked at that before...I feel like this one was much darker, and I feel like it was set in NYC against Times Square for part of it? moreResolved Question: Did you know the Reformers invented five Latin sola's ?
During the Protestant Reformation, the Reformers invented five Latin sola's ( sola means only), that summarized their protestant belief system about getting "saved".
Sola fide ("by faith alone")
Sola scriptura ("by Scripture alone")
Sola gratia ("by grace alone")
Solus Christus or Solo Christo ("Christ alone")
Soli Deo gloria ("glory to God alone")
Strange that the one sola that does appear in the bible contradicts the very sola itself. Works (good works, not useless Jewish works of the law) are part of being justified.
James 2:24: "You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone."
The next one is "Scripture Alone", which does not appear anywhere in the bible.
2 Timothy 3:16: "All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,"
The word "alone" does not appear in it anywhere. The word profitable does not mean only.
The next one, "Grace Alone", isn't found in the Bible either.
The fourth one, "Christ Alone", also sounds great. Who could argue with the fact that we are saved by Christ alone? The problem with this is that the 3rd person of the Blessed Trinity, the Holy Spirit, also plays a HUGE role in our salvation.
The last one is Soli Deo Gloria, or "Glory to God Alone". This one also sounds like a winner. However, there is one problem with it. Jesus Himself said in John 17:22 that He gave His glory to his apostles (at the Last Supper, when He gave them the Eucharist).
Catholics could come up with a lot of these solas. Since the bible says that we must eat and drink the body and blood of Jesus to have life within us (John 6), then we could say that we are saved by "The Eucharist alone".
And since Paul talks about the value of personal suffering for the Church in Colossians 1:24, we could say that we are saved by "Suffering alone".
And since the Bible says that the Church is the pillar and bulwark of Truth (1 Timothy 3:15), then we could formulate the doctrine of being saved by "The Church alone".
And since we have to be forgiven for our sins before we can enter heaven, we could come up with the doctrine of "Confession alone".
And how many more of these could we invent if we had the time? Lots.
But to no purpose whatsoever.
The Bible was meant to be taken as a whole, and to not be broken down into parts for convenience' sake.
Catholics have nothing against "faith" or "grace" or "Christ" or "Glory to God." Catholics could even add the word "alone" to all those and still have an orthodox Catholic understanding of them. The problem with the approach of using those terms is that they mean very different things to Catholics and Protestants, so it is not advised that a Catholic should use them due to the risk of blurring the real and serious differences. That is "Protestant terminology" which is best left to describe their teachings.
I think Catholics and Protestants both agree everything is ultimately done for the glory of God. A famous Catholic slogan (often abbreviated AMDG) is "Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam" which means "To the Greater Glory of God!"
But, sola Scriptura allows each man to be his own authority
Sola fide and sola Grace allows men to avoid the responisiblity of his actions, through the cleaver attributibution of everything to God
Christ Alone and Glory to God alone, are simply cleaver ways to argue against the Church and its Saints being able to help people get to heaven.
What are your thoughts on all or any of the 5 sola's?
