Resolved Question: What do you think of Feelings” about crime numbers?
“Feelings” about crime numbers El Universal (Mexico City) 6/21/10 [Editorial from El Universal:] The federal government has said on various occasions that the thousands of executions recorded every year in the country are mostly the product of fights among organized crime killers. How can they be so sure? In reality, they aren’t. They have investigated less than 5% of the assassinations occurring during this administration. To date, it is not known which of the executed victims may have really been innocent civilians sent to oblivion with the recurrent phrase: “it was a settling of accounts.” For all the money allotted to TV advertising and other displays, no government policy will gain highly sought popular support if there is no coherence. Even President Calderon has mentioned numbers about this issue without any documented reference. From February 2009 to date he has said that more than 90% of the homicides and executions related to organized crime belong to mafia members. He repeated this assertion just last April. The problem is that something as important as the re-named “struggle for security” ought not to be carried out under subjective criteria and personal perceptions. The cost in lives during an armed struggle increases when light diagnostics are carried out. It’s understood that the PGR (Department of Justice equiv.) may not have the capacity to thoroughly investigate the 22 thousand deaths associated with organized crime during this administration. One must assume, therefore, that the rest of the one thousand 200 previous investigations – more than 20 thousand – are in the hands of the state attorneys’ offices. Unfortunately, the situation in those agencies is the same or worse than in the PGR, not only because they refuse to get involved in crimes which – they say to justify themselves – are under federal jurisdiction, but because they lack the capacity for a serious, methodical and scientific investigation. Faced with that deficit, the first thing the federal government should be doing is to set the example. In order to obtain the backing of public opinion on this issue, and to have society see how necessary the “struggle for security” is, the federal government must begin with coherence. Instead of trying to convince people that the dead are insignificant because they’re hired killers, the President could show that at least matters of public relevance are really investigated in an objective fashion. The cases of the Tec students (making reference to a number of Monterrey Tech Institute students killed in a crossfire) and the murdered children – according to indications – at a military checkpoint in Tamaulipas were a perfect opportunity to show this coherence. By continuing to explain beforehand every execution as a “settling of accounts” among criminals a mantle of impunity is given to the aggressors and the credibility of the necessary fight against insecurity is eroded. —— Crimes go unreported Of the 12 million crimes committed annually in Mexico, only 1.5 million are reported due to the distrust of the judicial system, according to the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH). The lack of confidence is based on failure of the judges to give jail sentences, evidenced by the fact that the number of inmates in the prison system has not increased in the past five years. moreResolved Question: music nowadays sucks, because MANY young people music taste nowadays sucks?

apparently, he came out of nowhere, living in his dads house, unemployed, although he until recently served in the air force, and army before that, receiving four medals on the way. he also apparently is waiting on a court decision where someone alleges that he showed pornography to a student at the University of South Carolina, which has not reached a verdict yet. he won the primary against the incumbent, who served four terms, after Alvin Green spent very little money campaigning, won with a 59% majority. people have apparently claimed that some reasons for his win (and candidacy) could be that (1), for voters unfamilar with either candidate, voted for greene because his name was on top. i sincerely hope this is not the reason, because it just proves how little effort voters put intp choosing a candidate, in most cases just looking at the political party; or (2), the surname "Greene" is popular among african americans, and voters wanting a black senator would've chosen this candidate. do I need to explain just why i hope this isnt the reason?; or (3), that some voters may have confused the name "Alvin Greene" with the soul singer "Al Green". i hope this isnt the case because choosing a candidate because they are a celebrity is just ridiculous. for one, they are usually dumb. two, its already shown just how much legal leeway they receive in court trials, with cases like michael jackson, the 1995 oj simpson trial, martha stewart, paris hilton, and probably at LEAST to some degree in politics with Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger; and my own reasoning, yet to be hypothesized by the media, (4) because of the recent anti-incumbent sentiment held, and because there hasn't been a black U.S. senator in the south since Reconstruction. however, i think that he would make an ok candidate. anyone who served as long as he did in the military should be a pretty good one, at least compared to the liars and cheaters we have in now. South carlina has recently been a hotbed of political scandals, and it was suggested that this could be another one, with some people saying that he is a republican plant, which personally doesnt make ANY sense to me, as he has had VERY little advertising, no website, and even no yard signs or bumper stickers. if he was a republican plant to beat out the incumbent, then it certainly was a bad execution of one at that. and there has been criticism to his form of speech, when he replies to yes or no questions, al he gives is a yes or a no, while politicians usually give a short, vague speech, using words that nearly every american is in favor of, e.g. "pro life", and "pro choice", every likes life, and everyone likes being able to choose, right? phrasing started by politicians. when you serve in the military, thats how you are trained to respond. you arent supposed to ask questions, or give lengthy elaborations, you are supposed to simply say "sir yes sir" or "sir no sir", without any questions. and after the probably ten years or so he served, you would expect that that would be how he speaks in nearly all situations.i dont want 2 be a cons- im saying i hope thats not the reason because i DONT want a politician elected by race. and this is not my reason, it was given by Senator Robert Ford in an interview on the topic, the only one of those reasons which was mine was reason number 4. the other 3 were taken entirely from another person, i just put them into my additional details, and i am not saying those are my views.and what makes you think that this has any RACIST motivation??? i am FOR his election!! (while i do agree that there are probably more blacks with the surname greene, its not racist. racist is against, attacking or degrading to blacks, this is just a fact, like how whites for some reason make up a lower percentage of prisoners. NOT racist. you idiot.) moreResolved Question: Are you sick of "green" everything?
